  • 4. Confirm Stakeholder Requirements Step 1 Ask these important questions: Is everyone in the target audience required to take the assessment? How many tries per question/activity should be allowed? What happens when a participant does not meet the “passing” score? How and when will participants receive feedback (immediately or a summary at the end)? Will the results be tracked and reported? If yes, how and to whom?
  • 5. Verify the Objectives Step 2 These 3 things must be clear for each objective that needs to be assessed: Performance Conditions Criteria 01 02 03
  • 6. Select Optimal Assessment Type(s) Step 3 Choose the optimal assessment type based on your training needs. Here are some formats: Fill in the Blank True/False Multiple Choice Matching Rank Order/Sequence Short Answer Speaking/Discussion Simulations Scenarios Role Plays Case Studies
  • 7. How to Select? Two Primary Factors to Consider:  The nature of the objectives to be assessed – performance, conditions and criteria.  The strengths and weaknesses of each type of assessment. Example: Use a multiple choice question to identify the correct specifications. Use simulations to evaluate if the learner knows how to log in to a software.
