Although qualitative analysis is used for physical areas, with the usage to tackle non financial
information, it can be widely useful in business and finance fields.(kesh and Raja 2005, 167) The
qualitative analysis of the company level is concerned with products and services, competitive
advantage, management efficiency, corporate culture. Advanced products can get increasing cash
inflows and improve company value (Carter and Demissew 2008, 63) because booming demand for
products and services can lead to a high reinvestment rate of the company, this creates additional
wealth.( Madden 2007, 125) Competitive advantage can includes producing capacity and the
efficiency of a company s design and cost controlling better than the industry s competitors.
Generating a competitive advantage for a company will creates stakeholder value. (Vilanova, Lozano
and Arenas 2009, 63) The improvement of management efficiency can lower operating costs and
company culture can enhance corporate image, leading to improvement of company value.
Quantitative factors
The quantitative factors in fundamental analysis are based on a deep understanding of financial reports
which is the process of identifying opportunities and threats from the company, so investors must be
concerned with the balance sheet, cash flow statement and income statement analysis. Financial
statements consist of all important historical information about the company s operation management
during a specific time period

The Between Antioch And Cyprian Of Carthage
Though writing at different times and to different audiences, both Ignatius of Antioch and Cyprian of
Carthage found their voices in addressing the topic of Church unity, among other themes. In the midst
of impending or recent persecution, both Ignatius and Cyprian warned against schism and encouraged
the Church to persevere in the face of confusion. Ignatius and Cyprian both treat church unity as a gift
from the Holy Spirit to be preserved, and also claim that this unity is dependent on perseverance in
faith, unified participation in the sacraments, and respecting the integrity of apostolic succession.
Without unification of and among these three elements, both Ignatius and Cyprian resolve that true
unity, and thus salvation, is unattainable.
To begin, it is worth looking at the language with which both Ignatius and Cyprian speak of unity. In
both Ignatius letters, and Cyprians The Unity of the Catholic Church (The Unity), the writers paint
beautiful, glorious pictures of a unified Church while also speaking sternly of its importance. In his
letter to the Ephesians Ignatius says, Yes, one and all, you should form yourselves into a choir, so that,
in perfect harmony and taking your pitch from God, you may sing in unison and with one voice to the
Father through Jesus Christ...Therefore you need to abide in irreproachable unity if you really want to
be God s members forever (Ephesians 4). In similarly beautiful yet severe language, Cyprian writes,
God is one and Christ is

Analysis Of The Poem Dream Deferred
Pursuing Dreams
The overall meaning of this poem is about the consequences of not pursuing your dreams. For some
this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem begins with a
simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an individual goes in
another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a weight to be lifted?
Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or benefits that are the result
of a dream that goes unachieved. The speaker lays out the possible different outcomes that would
occur when someone gives up on their dreams. The first of the possible scenarios is listed as Does it
dry up / like a raisin in the sun (lines 3 4)? The dream begins as a youthful, ambitious goal for life.
This goal slowly begins to fade as the person ages. Whether this is due to shifts in priorities or
unforeseen circumstances, things have changed over time. A dream that once seemed to be very
achievable is now nothing more than a small memory in the back of ones mind. The metaphor that is
used here is a grape drying up to become a raisin, just like their dreams can shrink down into a
fraction of what they once were. The next scenario is a how a deferred dream can affect you a little
more harshly. The speaker asks, Or fester like a sore / And then run (lines 4 5)? The sore that is
mentioned can be thought of as more of a wound. It is not so much the result

Francis Crick s First Impression
Francis Crick s first impression as per Watson s view, possessed a quick, penetrative mind and
frequently sought after for advice yet not oft valued. (page 3)
Watson also attributed Crick with fast paced and loud converser and possessor of such a
boisterous/buoyant laughter that his location within the Cavendish was obvious . (Page 4)
Watson of opinion that anything that Crick would touch would eventually be regarded as the Gospel of
that field due to his brilliant insights into someone s work. (Page 4) This the very first impression of
Watson that Crick who was merely meagre in his own experimental work for his Ph.D as represented
by him flooding the hall way with water because he had neglected to prepare his experimental
equipment properly. Whereas he was extremely quick in intervening on other s lab work and providing
insights on as to how should the experiments proceed going further. This is my opinion is the start of
this coalition between sketchy Watson and intrusive Crick alliance that obtained and used works of
many prominent scientists such as Chargaff, Donohue, Wilkins, Franklin yet failed to give proper
credit due to each one of them with a marginal exception of Wilkins.
Watson mentions British sense of fair play would not allow Francis Crick to move into the structure of
DNA that was the subject of his friend Maurice Wilkins.
Watson did not like Franklin from the very start as he painted a picture in his mind through the

Abstract
This paper explores the pros and cons of using digital formats verses print formats of textbooks,
particularly e textbooks and traditional textbooks, and seeks to ask how effective these textbook
formats are for university students and their studies. The purpose of this paper is to examine these
different textbook formats is to see which has the potential and ability to help students in the best

Because we live in a modern age of much technological advancements, many students in universities
are looking to see if it is still worth buying physical textbooks or to utilize digital formats like e
textbooks as a means of efficiency or even as a way to cut costs of paying for expensive textbooks. To
understand which format is more effective, we need to study the different formats and see what are the
strengths and weaknesses found in the two different formats. This paper will examine research done
by multiple researchers and use their research to help find the format that best helps students to study
and retain material learned from their textbook
Defining E textbooks and Traditional Textbooks
E textbooks are often defined as texts that are able to be accessed on electronic devices. Most research
has defined them as texts that are digital and accessed via electronic screens (Rockinson Szapkiw,
Courdoff, Carter, Bennett, 2012), in which there two formats that exist. The first format is the page
fidelity e textbook and second is the reflowable digital e textbook. The page fidelity e textbook is a
simple scanned picture of the print version of a book, which can usually come in the form of a PDF
(Rockinson Szapkiw, Courdoff, Carter, Bennett, 2012). The page fidelity e textbook has no

High School Should Be The Four Best Years Of My Life
When I was thirteen, I remember people telling me to prepare for high school to be the four best years
of my life. Looking back, it saddens me that I can barely identify a single day that is anything worth
remembering. Since I was six years old, I had struggled with accepting my body. Many of my earliest
fears are ones regarding weight, fat, how people gain weight, and how being overweight is bad . It s
difficult to pinpoint exactly when my issues with food began to surface; however, I think it s roots can
trace back to when I was only twelve. I can vividly recall asking my mom what foods contained sugar
as I was secretly trying to avoid the sweet calorie laden substance. I never would have guessed at the
path that this process of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These rules ensured I would forever remain in control, thus preventing the possibility of this average
persona from encroaching on my life. I wouldn t eat any more than one thousand calories, I wouldn t
snack, nor would I ever eat out. My nighttime reading became internet searches on low calorie meals
and desserts, workout routines that shredded calories and weight loss tips and tricks . I quickly became
obsessed with food; most of which I would never allow myself to eat. The eating disorder I had
developed to help control my life soon became my whole life. My health began to deteriorate along
with my energy. My teammates whom were all previously much slower runners than myself started to
pass me on the track; yet, despite my fear of becoming weak, my eating disorder gave me confidence.
In a sense, my disease became my new best friend, offering comfort that I could get from nowhere
else. In my warped way of seeing the world, I was the only one in control. When my friends would eat
junk food or skip a day at the gym, I laughed to myself at their innocence . I would think, Clearly, I
know something about control that you guys do not. This is what will make me better, stronger and
more successful. This is what will prevent average. Although, as I continued to starve myself and lose
weight, surpassing my goal of five pounds, it wasn t enough. Losing weight

In the first source, a classical liberalist approach is taken when looking at the efficiency of welfare
programs, and to what extent the government should use citizen s tax dollars to pay for it. The
political cartoon displays how inefficient and bureaucratic government involved programs are,
opposing the idea that a government should interfere with the economy in such a way. The first source
would support a laissez faire economy and see truth in the trickle down theory. However, the second
source is in direct opposition of the opinion of the first source. The author of the second source
heavily critiques laissez faire economics and the trickle down theory. By taking a modern liberalist
stance, the second source endorses government intervention within the economy and the use of tax
dollars to help those who need economic support. The second source believes that leaving people to
fend for themselves is a direct root to a halt in economic growth, whereas the first source supports self
reliance and independence from government safety

Truman Capote Rhetorical Analysis
In Kansas of the year 1959, there happened to be murders of a pretty popular family in a small town
called Holcomb. These murders led to an extremely intense investigation. Truman wrote a nonfiction
book about this whole situation, his story follows the lives of the murderers before, during and after
murders took place. It also shows the panic and anxiety of the citizens who also lived in Holcomb, and
finally the consequences the murderers received. The famous author Truman Capote used rhetorical
devices such as foreshadowing, symbolism and imagery to set an intended tone and enhance his
writing style.
Capote used foreshadowing to create a mystery and suspense for the reader to get them interested
early. He establishes that four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human lives. (5) This warns the
readers that someone will die and creates suspense knowing people will die we just don t know who.
After we learn more about the Clutters, he shows a discussion between Mr. Clutter and some hunters
that want to use his land and then as Mr. Clutter is leaving, the author reminded the audience that a
death was going to occur by stating: he headed for home and the day s work, unaware that it would be
his last. (13) Additionally, Capote also foreshadows that Perry and Dick are going to be the murderers
by giving subtle hint; for instance, in the backseat of the Chevrolet sedan was a twelve gauge pump
action shotgun, brand new. (22) This was used to foreshadow that an illegal

Chris Kyle Personality Analysis The film American Sniper depicts the true story of Chris Kyle, a
former U.S. Navy SEAL. Kyle was a skilled marksman whose main objective was to protect his
fellow troops from above. Kyle performed his task very well and became the most lethal sniper in
U.S. Military history, tallying up over 160 confirmed kills. The film also shows many glimpses into
Kyle s personal life. A few such instances are: Kyle s up bringing, Kyle meeting and marrying his wife
Taya Kyle, the births of both their son and daughter, his brief visits at home after his deployments, his
life after being honorably discharged, and his unfortunate death. Chris Kyle s early life was very
influential in shaping his personality. Kyle was born on April 8th, 1974, and was the son of Wayne
Kyle, who was a church deacon and Sunday school teacher. Kyle s mother s name was Deby Lynn.
Kyle grew up in Odessa, Texas, and eventually went to college in Stephenville, Texas at Tarleton State

Essay on Reaching for a Dream in Literature
Selfish Dream
Everyone has their dreams and whoever puts all his or her efforts and determination in pursuing that
goal is the one who will succeed. However, there are dreamers who have misconceptions about the art
of dreaming. In three pieces of literature I have encountered: The Achievement of Desire by Richard
Rodriguez, A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry and Fences by August Wilson, its characters
fight for their dreams regardless obstacles in their life. Nevertheless, they expose their sense of self
absorbance while seeking their dreams. Dreaming and aspiration are human senses, but when one
considers his or her dream more important than the others, dreaming becomes another aspect of
selfishness.

temporary problems, he does not make any changes. His selfishness dynamically expresses later on in
adulthood. He admits that he is always unconfident, sad and anxious. Moreover, he develops a sense
of disrespect to his parents. He makes fun at correct their grammar mistakes; He get sick of their
constant encouragement; He is disgraceful parent because they can help him with his homework. The
character obviously does nothing to compensate for his parent sacrifice. He is an outstanding student,
but in the human sense, he fails to be an educated person. He once admits: He cannot afford to admit
his parents (How could he still and pursuit such a contrary life?). He permits himself embarrassment at
their lack of education (Rodriquez 3). He may think that now with an excellent education, he is in a
higher level than others including his parents. Therefore, he feels ashamed of them. Getting rejected

s character decides to take.

approximately three thousand people started to climb over the 10 foot wall that surrounded the

crowd in case it should start a war, but use tear gas. The tear gas was unsuccessful however and the
protesters captured the marine guards, military officials and the embassy workers, totaling 66 men and
women blindfolded and tied up. It was unclear if Khomeini helped plan the hostage crisis, but he did
little to prevent it. Khomeini saw how popular the hostage

The Connection Between Western Capitalism And Mexican...
Globalized Violence:
The Connection Between Western Capitalism and Mexican Femicide Globalization: a process of
interaction between the social, economic and political systems of different nations, a process powered
by international trade and investment. Some assert that globalization encourages the spread of more
enlightened and egalitarian Western values and international tolerance, while others believe that this
phenomenon harms more than it helps and fosters an uncontrolled and abusive economic environment.
There is no shortage of opinions on the matter, though one sure point of fact is that globalization
affects all aspects of modern life, including the murky world of gendered violence. Between the
signing of NAFTA in 1992 and the middle of 2002, just shy of three hundred blue collar female
factory workers were murdered in the border town of Juarez, Mexico. However, these numbers are
simply the tip of the iceberg when compared to the four hundred and fifty additional disappearances
during that decade, a grand total that is only increasing with each passing year. In short, these murders
eventually sparked international intrigue and distress, forcing the world to take a closer look at some
of the uglier consequences of globalization. Essentially, the femicides of Juarez are simply a symptom
of a patriarchal society unconcerned with the lives of its workforce, a culture that values products
more than the people who produce them: the overlapping timelines of the Juarez

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Stress Fractures
A break in a bone that is caused by repetitive and/or intense exercise and prolonged pressure on the
bone is known as a stress fracture. Stress fractures may pass through the entire bone (complete) or
partially break (incomplete).
SYMPTOMS
Inflammation at the fracture site.
Bleeding (uncommon).
Bruising (uncommon).
Pain and tenderness over the fracture site.
Weakness and inability to bear weight on the injured extremity.
Paleness and deformity (sometimes).
CAUSES
Stress fractures are the result of repetitive micro trauma of a bone. The bone is injured at a greater rate
than it can be healed by the body. This causes the bone to become weak and susceptible to fracture.
Stress fractures typically follow changes in:
Training or performance schedule.
Equipment.
Intensity of activity.
Women who no longer have their periods are more prone to stress fractures.
RISK INCREASES WITH:
Previous stress fracture.
Certain sports associated with specific fractures:
○ Leg: running, soccer, swimming, ballet, basketball.

Challenges faced by Self Help Groups in India:
The following are the challenges faced by SHG s in India:
1. Inefficient marketing: TheDistrict Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs) organize melas of the

But, the frequency of such melas is very less. On account of this, SHG members do not have a regular
link with markets for selling their products.
2. Hurdles in getting loans: Banks do not trust the SHG members and the office bearers. Bank
defaulters have further aggravated this problem. In some cases, some members who are running
successful find it difficult to get loans due to the presence of defaulters in their family.
3.Irregular meetings: SHGs should meet regularly once in a week/fortnight/month as per the rules
decided by the members. This is to provide a platform for discussing various common problems and
enable smooth functioning of SHGs. But in reality, monthly meetings are not taking place as per the

The Differences Of Gilgamesh And The Old Testament
Gilgamesh, a Sumerian/Babylonian poetic work, contains close parallels with significant events in the
Old Testament. Both Gilgamesh and the Old Testament are classified as myths, traditional stories
involving supernatural being or events, typically concerning the early history. Although both were
written years apart and share some similarities, there are also major differences between the two
works.
Gilgamesh is the oldest piece of epic Western literature known to mankind and was written in 2000
B.C., which predates the Old Testament. It is a heroic, epic poem that explores friendship, mortality,
and humanity. According to the poem, Gilgamesh was part man and part god, the biggest part being
made in heaven and the smaller somewhere on earth (21). Gilgamesh, the ruler of Uruk, is the best of
the best and is thought of as god like. The men that Gilgamesh ruled over cried out to the gods asking
for help to send someone to humble Gilgamesh. The gods created Enkidu, a man that matched
Gilgamesh s strength and virtues, to humble Gilgamesh. The two become friends, humbling
Gilgamesh. Enkidu ultimately dies in the epic poem, leaving Gilgamesh distraught but starting him on
his pursuit to find immortality. His search for eternal life leads him to Utnapishtim, the only survivor
of the flood and the only man to become immortal. Utnapishtim gives Gilgamesh the secret to eternal
life, but Gilgamesh s eternal life is stolen from him by a serpent. In the end of Gilgamesh, he learns

Pieta In The Toilet Film Analysis
Terminal affliction dramas have been a long trope in films, with such classics like Love Story, Bright
Star, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Biutiful and Sunny; either handling the subject manner in an
understated manner or wringing all the dramatic juice out of it for all of its worth.
It is definitely used as an easy in for audience sympathy, which some filmmakers have taken
advantage of to the point that there have been some horrific films like My Sister s Keeper, P.S I Love
You, Restless and of course, Me Before You. Those are examples that are exploitative, insistent and
borderline offensive.
So, when I was planning to watch Pieta in the Toilet, I was a bit nervous as to how the film would turn
out. But I had an open mind when I read that the director of the film, Daishi Matsunaga, was a
documentary filmmaker who decided to make this film his first narrative feature. His background in

It is then that the two start an unlikely relationship that we gradually see that they might have more in
common than one would think.
Now how does the film rank alongside other terminal affliction entries? Pretty damn high, I must say.
Pieta in the Toilet is a seemingly simple story effectively told with fantastic direction, top notch
performances, a well written script and indescribable cinematography that is reminiscent of the
cinematography in Linda Linda Linda (both lensed by Ikeuchi Yoshihiro).
First off, the direction. As mentioned earlier, director Daishi Matsunaga had directed documentaries
before this; one being about an actual famous artist, and it clearly shows in his latest effort. Aiming for
the tone to be realistic yet extracting beauty throughout the mundane settings like a swimming pool or
a hospital, Matsunaga strikes the perfect balance that makes the film a lot more hopeful that one

pathogens (Naylor et al., 2005: 428 31). Furthermore, such risks include potential reductions in the
genetic diversity (and resulting ability to adapt to environmental change), productivity, and fitness of
wild fish, leading to possible extinctions (Naylor et al., 2005: 432). Naylor et al. clarify that these risks

In fact, in 2008, approximately 90 per cent of the fish oil available worldwide, and 71 per cent of the
fish meal, was consumed in aquaculture practices (Tacon Metian in preparation, as quoted in Bostock
et al., 2010: 2905). This is extremely unsustainable, it is impossible to attain enough feed to continue
to sustain these practices at the pace we are, without overfishing the oceans. Recall aquaculture was
supposed to be a more sustainable alternative to the unsustainable fishing practices we employed in
the past, such as deep ocean bottom trawling. However, to acquire enough feed, bottom trawling will
be required, which in turn renders many fish species instinct and destroys their habitats (Van Denderen
et al., 2013: 1). Unless of course, new methods of finding feed are discovered, which is currently in
development. In fact, Bostock et al, (2010) contend that up to 25 per cent of fish meal is now obtained
from fish processing waste, and ingredient substitution is also increasing the efficiency of fish meal
and oil utilization , which is a step in the right direction (p. 2905). Furthermore, the fish intake to fish
output, FIFO (transference of energy between trophic levels) is understood as being about 10:1 from
one level to the next, however, output ratios for salmon improved from 7.5 to 4.9 which is promising

How Did Hitler Have Blind Faith
After the Great war the allies congregated in France to sign the treaty of Versailles. The treaty stated
that the Germans were to blame for the war and had to pay for all of the damages. The German people
to begin with had very little money and after the war they had literally nothing to lose. In this time of
desperation, a man rose up from the shadows and started to talk about how he would make their
country prosper one more. Adolf Hitler was his name. He won over the German people with his
charismatic personality. The German people gave him so much power due to his charisma and in his
pursuit of purifying the German race he because one of the monsters in history. Hitler s charisma

thought of disobeying an order that was given to him. He replied No, from our entire training the

German solders did not only have faith in Hitler they also were afraid of him. The fear was so great
that they were ask to describe how that felt when they were doing bad things to the Jews. They

Mrs Mallard Symbolism
In Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour, the story does not end like the character, Mrs
Mallard would have wanted to. She is a married middle aged woman who found out that she is now a
widow and experiences a lot of emotion within an hour. In the end, because of the rollercoaster of
emotion she goes through an hour, she ends up not being a widow, but makes her husband a widow.
Mrs Mallard journey have irony, symbolism that lead to her disappointment which is the theme. To
begin, since everything occurs within an hour, the story is very short. The plot starts off with Mrs
Mallard being informed from her sister, Josephine that her husband is dead. Her initial reaction was to

This is a theme because mrs. Mallards thought that she had attained freedom from her husband s
death, but when she finds out there that her husband is not dead, dreams are taken away. If the story
were to end up differently like if Brently did die and she lived, Mrs Mallard probably would not have
had the life she wanted to. This is because of the time she was living in. If she were to become a
widow, a lot of people would have lots of pity on her and her life would be restricted as the pitiful
widow. More so, she would not be able to express her freedom towards other people. For example, if
Mrs. Mallard decided that she wanted to be the provider for herself, that meant she would have to get
a job but during the nineteenth Century, it would be difficult to get a job as a woman especially a job
that pays enough. The idea of freedom only stays an idea for women like Mrs. Mallard; freedom
cannot be converted into a reality. It can be nice to think about but that type of life doesn t not exist in
a patriarchal

Sergeant First Class Moton has had a positive influence on my life. My mentor SFC Moton shared a

We didn t go to lunch early often. I started wondering what was wrong did I miss something, was

for some type of reprimand. When he got there he said let s take a walk to Popeye s and I was relieved
nothing was wrong. Our conversation started like it always had about women, we laugh and joked as I
told him what was going on in my world. We laugh and he told me one of his Recruiter stories. We
shared laughs and stories as if we were father and son. And then he asked me about my future plans in
the Army and wanted to know what I was going to do with my life. I gave him the only thing I had, a
story. I was going home to go back to school and get a job on the police force and live with my father
for a little while just until I could get on my feet. Really, I didn t have a plan and he knew it, like I said

Themes in Literature
Often in literature there are common themes that occur throughout eras and genres to link two
otherwise different pieces of writing. One particular example of this occurrance can be seen in
Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale and William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew.
Although these works have been written in very different time periods and use separate styles, there
are two themes which link both stories and convey a very similar message. Strict societal roles and the
treatment of women in patriarchal societies are prevalent ideas in both Shakespeare s play and Atwood
s novel. These themes are approached and dealt with differently in each work, but ultimately convey
the same meaning. There are some aspects of humanity that are ... Show more content on

The Handmaid s Tale and The Taming of the Shrew offer very different views on the matter: Atwood
gives a more sympathetic and feminist outlook, whereas Shakespeare tends to lean towards misogyny.
In The Handmaid s Tale, the Gileadean government oppressesed the women of the country as the new
theocracy gains more power. Women are deprived of the right to vote, to have jobs, to hold money or
property, to have an education and even the right to read. Initially there is an angry outburst at this,
and the women fight to get their freedom back, but as the totalitarian state grows stronger, they find
that there is less and less that they are able to do about their predicament. Eventually, women are
reduced to being considered a national resource, valued for their wombs and ability to reproduce, and
seen as potential mothers rather than individuals. Rebellious behaviour is punished by death or
banishment to work in camps; cleaning up toxic waste, so the oppressed women are limited to the
smallest acts of rebellion, such as whispering among themselves when they are supposed to be silent.
The Taming of the Shrew was written during the Elizabethan Era in England, so most of the attitudes
towards women in the play are reflective of the established beliefs

Affects of Neglect and Emotional Development Towards School Readiness
The consequences of childhood neglect and physical abuse can never be over emphasized. It affects
approximately 30 children in 1,000 per capita in Washington State alone and is likely underestimated
as not all neglect cases are reported or investigated.
(http://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/2900/DOH530090ChldAb.pdf) It seems the signs for
abuse in certain areas are more apparent and easily identifiable than others. Abuse is clearly
recognized when it is physical abuse or neglect when someone s needs are not being met, but the
lasting damage to a child s emotional development from neglect has huge implications on their school
readiness. Our laws (RCW 26 44 020 ) defines abuse and neglect as injury, sexual abuse, sexual
exploitation, negligent treatment or maltreatment of a child by any person under circumstances which
indicate that the child s health, welfare, and safety is harmed .
The Concept of School Readiness
School readiness is can be interpreted in two perspectives and three paradigms. The two
characteristics are achieving experiences and transition. The dimensions include families and
communities readiness for school, child s readiness for school and schools readiness for children. The

In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, the tragic hero Macbeth, descends into evil after a prophecy from
three witches sparks his ambition and tempts Macbeth into committing horrible deeds out of paranoia,
arrogance, and spite. Macbeth begins his chain of murders due to the fact that he wishes to become the
King of Scotland. In Act One, Scene three of Macbeth, three witches arrive and prophesize that
Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor and the King. Soon after the witches disappear, Macbeth
is delivered the news that he was named Thane of Cawdor. This occurrence causes Macbeth to believe
each part of the prophecy and he allows his ambition to take control of his thoughts, which leads him
to deciding to kill King Duncan. Macbeth acknowledges the fact that he has no other reason for killing

The Differences Of Alexander Hamilton And Thomas Jeffersons
Like many in their time, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson were friends and on the same side
to absolve colonial ties with Great Britain. But once the war was over and independence was
documented in the Treaty of Paris, the new business of creating a new nation was at hand. During this
time, it became apparent that those who shared the same side during the revolution would now find
themselves at odds with one another. Both men had visions and desires for the new nation. However,
nearly one hundred years later and following the civil war, one vision in particular, was closer to
reality than the other. Both of these men were fundamental in the birth of this nation, but their views
on government, economics, and politics differ substantially. Economically speaking, Hamilton wanted
a growing and thriving society based on trade and large manufacturing companies. In contrast,
Jefferson envisioned a society that was based mainly on the presence of many small farmers. Jefferson
particularly did not want large amounts of manufacturing to be done in the US. He argued that
manufactured goods could be imported from Europe, while the US could remain primarily agrarian.
During the Reconstruction period, the South went through a major reconstruction and rebuilding
phase. Although farming was still a large part of the economy, large manufacturing facilities emerged
as well. The increase in large manufacturing facilities and international trade mirrored the vision of
Hamilton much more so than Jefferson s. Jefferson and Hamilton differed widely in their views of
politics and the structure of society. Jefferson envisioned an egalitarian country vs Hamilton s
aspirations of a more stratified society. Jefferson wanted pure equality for everyone regardless of
social, economic, or background. In contrast, Hamilton wanted a growing manufacturing society were
owners of factories and large industries were politically more powerful than the people that worked
for them. Although the Reconstruction was designed to create a perfect equal rights society, other than
freeing the slaves, it failed miserably and was unlike Jefferson s vision of an egalitarian society.
Although the slaves were free, they still didn t receive equal

Virtual Study Hall
Every end of marking period and progress check some students rush to complete all their work on

virtual study hall days on the ends of marking periods or progress checks though, and those let
students work on past assignments without having to work on new lessons. The thing is, they don t
have them every end of marking period or progress check. One thing I think that would make progress
checks and marking periods less stressful would be to have virtual study halls every end of marking
period/progress check, so let s look at some ways a study hall would be beneficial to students and
teachers alike!

Most of the time marking periods and progress checks are very stressful. But if there was a virtual
study hall day at the end of every marking period/progress check, it would make things a lot easier for
the students. Students would only have to work on past assignments and would also want to work
harder so they can have the day off. Who knows, maybe they would even want to work ahead on
lessons, too.
Finally, students would be able to complete all their work on time. It would allow students with
lessons that have piled up over time to be able to get them done. It would also mean less assignments
due. In the end it,would probably just amount to more students getting assignments finished before the
due date. Because of this study hall days would most likely help lots of students.
On the other hand, teachers have to post a certain amount of lessons each year. In order to combat this
problem, the school would just subtract off certain days from breaks. Or maybe they would have a few
more days of school before summer break. Also,it could just mean having more lessons posted on
other days. Either way, the teachers would be able to post the required number of lessons, and students
would have the needed time before important

trial of murder it offers a thoughtful and balanced presentation of the problems besetting our criminal
courts, lays bare the mechanics of justice, and explains in graphic detail just what is wrong and right
about our criminal justice system.
Throughout this book there are many important details leading up to the trial of James Richardson.

Social Media And Its Effect On Women
Positivity Is Beautiful In today s society it is being brought to the public s attention more often than
before that women deserve to be treated fairly. It is discussed on social media and has been viewed on
television advertisements. The feminine product seller, always, advertised a commercial. A director
named Lauren Greenfield asked girls if they have had some kind of setback when trying to accomplish
something because they were a girl. All of them said yes and explained their thoughts. Another
advertisement was by Levi jeans and singer/songwriter, Alicia Keys. The setting took place in
Brooklyn, New York and she was shown smiling and walking on the sidewalk, interacting with her
fans. Also, other women were dancing, and one girl was jumping for joy in the air. Her song 28
Thousand Days was also being played throughout the commercial. Although these two advertisements
are trying to sell a product, they are actually influencing women in a positive way. To begin with, both
of the advertisements give women confidence. In the always commercial, all of the girls didn t look
flashy, they were dressed casually, and had little or no makeup on. In a lot of advertisements women
are made to look stimulating, for instance, having a skinny body, a lot of makeup on, and dressed in
designer clothes, so when female viewers look at advertisements like that, their confidence starts to

Memory loss is the inability to remember events that happened to you, or events that were important

severe and last for a long amount of time, and it has to be major events that may strike odd to the

History of American Art Education Essay
Western culture had many important effects on the United States as a developing nation, and art
education was no exception to this. In order to come to terms with the impact of Western culture on
American art education, it is important to chronicle the progression of art education throughout
Europe. Spanning centuries, the political, social, and economic development of European nations,
each played an important role the philosophies of art education, which in the long run, affected
American ideas concerning the subject. Thoughts about art changed and evolved in many ways over
time. Efland s The History of Art Education: Intellectual and Social Currents in Teaching the Visual

The role that art did play involved one that catered towards the state. Art was used as political
propaganda in that it was thought that art should serve the state, and emphasize the power of the state.
These events indirectly shaped beliefs about art in the United States, as it was a new nation that was
raised on strong European influences. Throughout the history of art education, there is a common
thread of political relation. The attitudes concerning art related directly to the political and economic
happenings at the time. This remained a constant with early American settlers as well. For example,
Puritans lives revolved around faith and farming, therefore visual art played a role that was not
necessary integral. The arts involved a broad term that included crafts that were taught at home. The
main goal of education was to teach students to read so that they could read scriptures. Art education
today has veered quite a bit from this mentality. Art is still considered a specialized area, but even
more so than in times prior to the Industrial Revolution. Where during this time period certain crafts
that were part of daily living were routinely taught to young children at home, contemporary society
has moved away from this. Very rarely is a student taught an art or a craft in the home, and because
society s amenities and values have changed so drastically, few individuals or families

Homelessness And Poverty And Homelessness
Imagine a world where it is illegal to sit down. Could you survive if there were no place you were
allowed to fall asleep, to store your belongings, or to stand still? For most of us, these scenarios seem
unrealistic to the point of being ludicrous. But, for homeless people across America, these
circumstances are an ordinary part of life. (National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty 7)
While a portion of today s society turns a blind eye to the subject of the criminalization of
homelessness, an even larger quantity of people are not aware of the situation that is happening in
every major city of America. For those living an affluent lifestyle, it can be difficult to discuss the
amount of poverty and homelessness that is constantly occurring. The definition and meaning behind
the absence of home is also arduous to discuss. While homelessness is commonly associated with
sleeping outside or in provisional areas, this word also identifies with an absence of belonging. This
absence of belonging can relate not only to a community, but also to the people that dwell there
(Baumohl 3). Within the portion of those who are aware of the homelessness situation, there is a
section that detests the poverty stricken persons of our society. These biased members of the American
population express their antipathy in several ways. It is necessary to reveal the privileges that
homeless persons have been violently stripped of, and expose and broadcast the freedom they are

warn the conscious to not eat the substance that is on that plate. The science fair project is going to try
to show that statement to be right. The project is interesting because of the science behind the
statement; that a person s conscious could relate a red plate to a stop sign, which is also red. The
person s conscious would then think of what to do at a stop sign and then, would feel cautious about
eating what is on the plate. The significance of this project is to actually test on how a person feels,
and to understand the science ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The procedures for this project is to first, put on the plastic gloves. Second, place the Colored plates
on a table with cookies. Third, have the records (pencil and paper) ready. The fourth step is to have

Future Of The U.s. Dollar
Future of the U.S. Dollar
Today, the world economy, after witnessing the greatest hit in 70 years, is wondering what life will
look like after the storm has settled. It is grappling with the fundamentals of unemployment,
increasing inflation, current account deficits, negative growth, and zero interest rates along with it,
depreciating the value of money. In the midst of all this the future of the U.S. dollar is uncertain. Will
the dollar maintain its reserve currency status even after its depreciation and regain faith of the
nations? Or will it be replaced by some other currency, shifting the power balances among the nations
forever?
The U.S. dollar peaked in value in 2000 2001 and has been in a significant decline ever since. There
was a relatively brief period in 2008 when the dollar rebounded quite sharply due to the worldwide
financial crisis and economic meltdown, when there was a global rush to the safety of U.S. treasury
securities. But since then, the dollar has resumed its long term downtrend. In the recent years the
dollar has been improving relative to other currencies, becausee of the decline in those other
currencies.
With President Obama s most unprecedented spending plans in history, as well as trillion dollar budget
deficits and the potential to more than double the U.S. national debt in the next 5 10 years, there is
now a widespread speculation that the dollar is headed for new all time lows and a possible collapse.
As a result, we are seeing and hearing

Vyse And Waller
Vyse and a new Partnership The evolving partnership of Charles Vyse and Barbara Waller (1949 1951)
would prove to be exacting and industrious. Working at the Cheyne Row studio they produced a
number of animal and figure models, alongside a range of Chinese inspired high fired, ash glazed
stoneware vessels. Whether by design or accident, much of the figurative work of Vyse and Waller
partnership, would in the future, prove problematical for collectors. However, at this remove, it is
difficult to attribute some figures and vessels, either jointly or individually. Furthermore, it is
impossible to assign specific tasks, such as modelling, decorating, and glazing, to either of the
partners. To compound the conflict of attribution, there are occasions when both Vyse and Waller have
exhibited the same figure, individually signed, and again, as a ... Show more content on

Also an explanation of the rationale of a relatively small period collaborative work, exhibited singly
and jointly by Vyse and Waller, will involve the reader in a certain amount of time travelling. It would
appear that such was the working relationship of Vyse and Miss Waller that they thought little of
interpreting each other s work as they saw to be artistically appropriate. For instance, in the illustration
Fig. 168, Miss Waller appears to be working on the clay model of a Shire horse. However, archived in
the modern ceramic collection of the V A museum is a Temmoku glazed stoneware edition of this
same Shire horse, which has inscribed on the base, Charles Vyse/Barbara Waller/Chelsea/1950.
Therefore, it is fair to assume, therefore, the edition of Shire horse, conserved in the modern ceramic
collection of the V A, Vyse had retained the moulds of original model by Waller, and after it had been
slip cast and fired to the biscuit state, it was Temmoku

Andy Warhol s The Last Supper
Andy Warhol was the revolutionaire who led America and the rest of the world into an era of pop art
with his iconic style. For many his ascent echoes one of pop art s ambitions, to bring popular styles
and subjects into the exclusive salons of high art. His crowning achievement was the elevation of his
own persona to the level of a popular icon, representing a new kind of fame and celebrity for a fine
artist (The Art Story). Although very famous in later life, he had a simple childhood; he was often
sickly and he would spend time at home. Since he had a lot of time to himself he would start to use
that time to learn about pop culture, and this is when he began to have an interest in art. He
commenced his career by drawing shoe advertisements, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This superior piece uses emphasis by creating a monotony of the same image of Christ many times.
He uses pattern but he adds variation to make it stand out. These changes show the great power that
society traps us in by showing the same images many times. Andy Warhol s creative skill with
proportion and contrast of the motorcycles gives the distinct impression that some are farther in the
background than others. This also shows the superior skill of knowing what he was doing, which is a

Reflective Essay on Peg Feeding
REFLECTIVE ESSAY ON PEG FEEDING This essay discusses a clinical skill in which I have
become competent during my placement in care home. I will use a reflective model to discuss how I
achieved the necessary level of competence. Reflection can make a sense of the familiar and taken for
granted situations and is an important human activity, in which people capture their experience, think
about it and evaluate it (Driscoll, 1994). Here I have used the Gibbs model of reflection which
includes description, feeling, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan of a learning experience
(Gibbs 1988). The clinical skill I have learned is PEG feeding. Percutanious endoscopic gastrostomy
(PEG) feeding introduced into clinical practice in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially I was not able to administer medication or feed through the peg feed due to the lack of
knowledge and skills on how to do it properly. I had to ask for the help of senior staff to help with
feeding. I was desperate to achieve the skill to peg feed which I must possess to administer medication
to that client. I asked one of the senior staff who was looking after that client to teach me how to do
PEG feeding. She demonstrated it to me and I discussed the matter with my mentor. My mentor put
me through PEG feed training that gave me all the necessary information about the proper use and
management of PEG tube. The next time I had the chance to do it I could relate the theory to practice
by continuously performing the feeding, I gained competence in performing that skill. Feeling I was
interested in learning about PEG feeding from the very first time I saw it in the care home. I was eager
to learn the skill. By observing my colleague doing it and by attending training I learned the procedure
clearly and gained necessary confidence to perform it. I obtained consent and maintained privacy
before carrying out the procedure. I was nervous whilst doing it for the first time but with the support
of my colleagues I overcame the stress and mastered the skill. Evaluation Though I was unaware of
the correct procedure of PEG feeding and was unable to perform the

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Theory Of Grieving
The theory of grief and loss was developed by Elizabeth Kubler Ross (1969) to apply to people who
are grieving as well as those that are dying. Different people deal with grief differently but according
to Kubler Ross suggested that when people grieve they will go through these stages; denial, anger,
bargaining, depression and acceptance. Sometimes loss is expected and sometime it is a surprise to
people. The first stage; denial is about the person who is grieving will feel numb and shocked and
would not be willing to accept that their loved one has passed away or is terminally ill (Kubler Ross,
1969). This relates to Jason Martins who has lost his mother due to an illness. This theory was used to
be able to understand how Jason is feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social workers can improve empowerment to a grieving person by ensuring that they have the support
that they need (Parkes, 1986/2007) this includes support from the community and neighbours as this
experience will offer the bereaved person encouragement to continue living their life. When service
users are grieving they are vulnerable therefore social workers should establish their professional
relationship with them using honesty and transparency (PCF domain 2 Values and Ethics) therefore,
the client does not identify their social worker as a personal friend. Social workers can prevent
oppression and discrimination by ensuring that anti oppressive and anti discriminatory policies are in
place (PCF domain 3 Diversity) and they should ensure that they are aware of the challenges that
service users face due to their emotional state and their identity.
The grief and loss theory has been criticised by Corr et al (1997) who stated that there is not real life
evidence to prove that people do go through the stages one (1) to stage five (5). Also the theory was
criticised for not acknowledging the limitations of the model, for example, people do not always go
through all the five (5) stages. Another criticism of the theory is that using the word stage to describe
the grieving process implies how inconsiderate it is as it forces the bereaved to internalise their
feelings waiting for that stage to pass which will affect their life in the long

Grilled Chicken Salad Analysis
Salads my not be your best friend when counting calories. In the video there were two salads utilized
as examples from Chili s. One was the quesadilla explosion and the other a grilled chicken salad. After
an in depth review of the salads it is frightening how many calories can be hidden in salads. The
quesadilla explosion salad had 1360 calories, 88 grams fat, 29 grams of saturated fat, and 3000 mg of
sodium. On the other hand the grilled chicken salad contained only 430 calories. It is very important to
consider key words when selecting a salad from a menu. Stay away from fried or crispy as
descriptions. While avocado and nuts are healthy, they are high in calories. Other items found on
salads that pack on the calories include cheese and

Headstone V. Collins Analysis
In observing Headstone´s more genuine and honest attitude towards marriage, it is clear that his
proposal is more convincing than Collins´. In Collins proposal, he speaks of his patroness, Lady
Catherine de Bourgh, whom he relies on very heavily for advice. She says that marriage is for [her]
sake; and for [Collins], showing the selfish intentions behind Collins proposal. His self interested
goals of marrying Bennet are insincere and not as persuasive, making her less likely to empathize with
Collins and accept his proposal. He is merely proposing to Bennet for the purpose of pleasing his
patroness, unlike the romance fueled marriage perspective clearly shown in Headstone s proposal.
Contrary to Collins, Headstone appeals to an honest and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his proposal, Headstone makes no assumption that Hexam will accept his offer at all, in fact, after
he makes his argument, he states that he does not know that [he] could say more if [he] tried. He
knows that he has said all that he can to persuade her, and it is up to Hexam now to decide. By giving
Hexam freedom to choose her response, she will most likely appreciate this and be more inclined to
accept. However, Collins makes several assumptions about Bennet s response. He goes on to state
several different aspects of his to be marriage to her, even including that she will find [his patroness ]
manners beyond anything [he] can describe. By using the word will , there is an inference that Collins
has made, an inference with a tone of finality that more or less makes it seem like Bennet has already
accepted his proposal. This eager assumption may be off putting to Bennet and may negatively affect
her actual response to the proposal. However, in Headstone s phrases like if you would return a
favorable answer to my offer, he uses conditional words like if and would to show that he does not
expect Hexam to accept his proposal, and that his thoughts are simply hypothetical, adding to the
effective freedom of Hexam in choosing her

Theme Of Women In The Bluest Eye
In the end, the men are afraid of death, that it was they are most fearful of. By choosing death, not
only is she finally making a choice in her life, but she is finally gaining power over the kings, princes
and rulers which she always wished to, because she is doing what they fear most.
Women have little to no choice in their lives, society and systems within it, make decisions for most
women, like Firdaus. By taking away a woman s ability to choose, it is oppressing her. If you have a
voice, you have power, which is why there is a power struggle of this proportion among women,
because their voice is stolen from them.
The Bluest Eye. To complicate Firdaus story, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison tells the story of
another girl s life. Pecola was born and raised a poor, powerless, Black girl. Her power struggle is
different, it is more internalized. Pecola grew up in an abusive household, where she witnessed her
father s power over her mother. When she was still just a child, her father raped her. In this way he
was able to gain power over Pecola as well. She learned from a young age that Black meant ugly,
which in turn meant powerless. Whereas white was beautiful and powerful. This can be demonstrated
by Pecola s interest in a cup that had Shirley Temple s face on it, which is highly symbolic within the
text, We knew she was fond of the Shirley Temple cup and took every opportunity to drink milk out of
it just to handle sweet Shirley s face (Morrison 23). Pecola cherished

Illiteracy In America Essay
The Critical Problem of Illiteracy in the U.S. and Solutions to the Problem
Frederick Douglass once said, Once you learn to read, you will forever be free (Cardoza, 2013).
Millions of U.S. adults do not possess basic reading and writing skills, and may be deemed illiterate or
functionally illiterate . Illiterate means unable to read or write at all and functionally illiterate means
that one does not possess sufficient reading and writing skills to function successfully in today s
society (Conover, 2009). Those who are illiterate and functionally illiterate are unable to perform tasks
as simple as reading a bus schedule or writing a check (Conover, 2009). Not knowing how to read
could cause a person stress, embarrassment, or even loss of a job. Adult illiteracy is a critical problem
in the United States that can be solved through education, innovation, and dedication.
The History of Illiteracy Illiteracy is not simply a problem that affects the United States today, it has
been a problem since the creation of the country. When the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While not all of the aforementioned tasks would be considered absolutely basic , such as calculating
the cost of carpeting a room, the problem still exists: millions of Americans cannot perform many
simple tasks to function in everyday life. 1996 reports showed that 27 million U.S. adults were in need
of help with their literacy skills (Chaddock, 1998). However, 1998 reports showed that more than 40
million American adults can barely locate the time or place of a meeting on a form , a number that is
much lower than the one reported in 1993 (Chaddock, 1998). Chaddock also reported that American
businesses lose nearly $60 billion yearly due to workers lacking literacy skills

The Effects Of Technology In The Hunger Games
Technology can change human kinds future and present in various ways that they may not notice or
understand. But it is happening everyday and will most likely happen in the future. The book trilogy
The Hunger Games shows this very well as people are tricked and scared by technology, media, and
war.
The Hunger Games is set in the future of North America called Panem, that consists of the wealthy
Capitol and 12 districts in varying states of poverty. The trilogy s protagonist Katniss Everdeen, lives
in District 12, where people regularly die of starvation. As punishment for a past rebellion against the
Capitol, one boy and one girl from each district, are selected to compete in an annual death match
called the Hunger Games. The Games are a televised event in which the participants are forced to fight
to the death in a public arena. The purposes of the Hunger Games are to provide entertainment for the
Capitol and to remind the districts of the Capitol s power and lack of forgiveness for the failed
rebellion of the current competitors ancestors. In this book trilogy the capitol and districts use
futuristic technology and science to fight. Also, the capitol uses technology with media to confuse and
influence people in the country.
Two examples of how they used technology and media to trick people can be seen in these media
effect theories. First is the Spiral of Silence Theory, this is when people who hold minority views on
controversial issues tend to keep their views

Although qualitative analysis is used for physical areas, with the usage to tackle non financial information, it can be widely useful in business and finance fields.(kesh and Raja 2005, 167) The qualitative analysis of the company level is concerned with products and services, competitive advantage, management efficiency, corporate culture. Advanced products can get increasing cash inflows and improve company value (Carter and Demissew 2008, 63) because booming demand for products and services can lead to a high reinvestment rate of the company, this creates additional wealth.( Madden 2007, 125) Competitive advantage can includes producing capacity and the efficiency of a company s design and cost controlling better than the industry s competitors. • 3. The Between Antioch And Cyprian Of Carthage Though writing at different times and to different audiences, both Ignatius of Antioch and Cyprian of Carthage found their voices in addressing the topic of Church unity, among other themes. In the midst of impending or recent persecution, both Ignatius and Cyprian warned against schism and encouraged the Church to persevere in the face of confusion. Ignatius and Cyprian both treat church unity as a gift from the Holy Spirit to be preserved, and also claim that this unity is dependent on perseverance in faith, unified participation in the sacraments, and respecting the integrity of apostolic succession. Without unification of and among these three elements, both Ignatius and Cyprian resolve that true unity, and thus salvation, is unattainable. To begin, it is worth looking at the language with which both Ignatius and Cyprian speak of unity. In both Ignatius letters, and Cyprians The Unity of the Catholic Church (The Unity), the writers paint beautiful, glorious pictures of a unified Church while also speaking sternly of its importance. In his letter to the Ephesians Ignatius says, Yes, one and all, you should form yourselves into a choir, so that, in perfect harmony and taking your pitch from God, you may sing in unison and with one voice to the Father through Jesus Christ...Therefore you need to abide in irreproachable unity if you really want to be God s members forever (Ephesians 4). • 4. Analysis Of The Poem Dream Deferred Pursuing Dreams The overall meaning of this poem is about the consequences of not pursuing your dreams. For some this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem begins with a simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an individual goes in another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a weight to be lifted? Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or benefits that are the result of a dream that goes unachieved. The speaker lays out the possible different outcomes that would occur when someone gives up on their dreams. The first of the possible scenarios is listed as Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun (lines 3 4)? The dream begins as a youthful, ambitious goal for life. This goal slowly begins to fade as the person ages. Whether this is due to shifts in priorities or unforeseen circumstances, things have changed over time. A dream that once seemed to be very achievable is now nothing more than a small memory in the back of ones mind. The metaphor that is used here is a grape drying up to become a raisin, just like their dreams can shrink down into a fraction of what they once were. The next scenario is a how a deferred dream can affect you a little more harshly. The speaker asks, Or fester like a sore / And then run (lines 4 5)? The sore that is mentioned can be thought of as more of a wound. It is not so much the result ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Globalized Violence: The Connection Between Western Capitalism and Mexican Femicide Globalization: a process of interaction between the social, economic and political systems of different nations, a process powered by international trade and investment. Some assert that globalization encourages the spread of more enlightened and egalitarian Western values and international tolerance, while others believe that this phenomenon harms more than it helps and fosters an uncontrolled and abusive economic environment. There is no shortage of opinions on the matter, though one sure point of fact is that globalization affects all aspects of modern life, including the murky world of gendered violence. Between the signing of NAFTA in 1992 and the middle of 2002, just shy of three hundred blue collar female factory workers were murdered in the border town of Juarez, Mexico. Gilgamesh is the oldest piece of epic Western literature known to mankind and was written in 2000 B.C., which predates the Old Testament. If the story were to end up differently like if Brently did die and she lived, Mrs Mallard probably would not have had the life she wanted to. This is because of the time she was living in. If she were to become a widow, a lot of people would have lots of pity on her and her life would be restricted as the pitiful widow. More so, she would not be able to express her freedom towards other people. For example, if Mrs. Mallard decided that she wanted to be the provider for herself, that meant she would have to get a job but during the nineteenth Century, it would be difficult to get a job as a woman especially a job that pays enough. The idea of freedom only stays an idea for women like Mrs. Mallard; freedom cannot be converted into a reality. One particular example of this occurrance can be seen in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale and William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew. Although these works have been written in very different time periods and use separate styles, there are two themes which link both stories and convey a very similar message. Strict societal roles and the treatment of women in patriarchal societies are prevalent ideas in both Shakespeare s play and Atwood s novel. The Handmaid s Tale and The Taming of the Shrew offer very different views on the matter: Atwood gives a more sympathetic and feminist outlook, whereas Shakespeare tends to lean towards misogyny. In The Handmaid s Tale, the Gileadean government oppressesed the women of the country as the new theocracy gains more power. Women are deprived of the right to vote, to have jobs, to hold money or property, to have an education and even the right to read. Initially there is an angry outburst at this, and the women fight to get their freedom back, but as the totalitarian state grows stronger, they find that there is less and less that they are able to do about their predicament. Eventually, women are reduced to being considered a national resource, valued for their wombs and ability to reproduce, and seen as potential mothers rather than individuals. Rebellious behaviour is punished by death or banishment to work in camps; cleaning up toxic waste, so the oppressed women are limited to the smallest acts of rebellion, such as whispering among themselves when they are supposed to be silent. The Taming of the Shrew was written during the Elizabethan Era in England, so most of the attitudes towards women in the play are reflective of the established beliefs ... (http://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/2900/DOH530090ChldAb.pdf) It seems the signs for abuse in certain areas are more apparent and easily identifiable than others. The Differences Of Alexander Hamilton And Thomas Jeffersons Like many in their time, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson were friends and on the same side to absolve colonial ties with Great Britain. But once the war was over and independence was documented in the Treaty of Paris, the new business of creating a new nation was at hand. During this time, it became apparent that those who shared the same side during the revolution would now find themselves at odds with one another. Both men had visions and desires for the new nation. However, nearly one hundred years later and following the civil war, one vision in particular, was closer to reality than the other. Both of these men were fundamental in the birth of this nation, but their views on government, economics, and politics differ substantially. Economically speaking, Hamilton wanted a growing and thriving society based on trade and large manufacturing companies. In contrast, Jefferson envisioned a society that was based mainly on the presence of many small farmers. Jefferson particularly did not want large amounts of manufacturing to be done in the US. He argued that manufactured goods could be imported from Europe, while the US could remain primarily agrarian. During the Reconstruction period, the South went through a major reconstruction and rebuilding phase. Although farming was still a large part of the economy, large manufacturing facilities emerged as well. The increase in large manufacturing facilities and international trade mirrored the vision of Hamilton much more so than Jefferson s. Jefferson and Hamilton differed widely in their views of politics and the structure of society. Jefferson envisioned an egalitarian country vs Hamilton s aspirations of a more stratified society. Jefferson wanted pure equality for everyone regardless of social, economic, or background. In contrast, Hamilton wanted a growing manufacturing society were owners of factories and large industries were politically more powerful than the people that worked for them. It is grappling with the fundamentals of unemployment, increasing inflation, current account deficits, negative growth, and zero interest rates along with it, depreciating the value of money. In the midst of all this the future of the U.S. dollar is uncertain. Will the dollar maintain its reserve currency status even after its depreciation and regain faith of the nations? Or will it be replaced by some other currency, shifting the power balances among the nations forever? The U.S. dollar peaked in value in 2000 2001 and has been in a significant decline ever since. • 43. Reflective Essay on Peg Feeding REFLECTIVE ESSAY ON PEG FEEDING This essay discusses a clinical skill in which I have become competent during my placement in care home. I will use a reflective model to discuss how I achieved the necessary level of competence. Reflection can make a sense of the familiar and taken for granted situations and is an important human activity, in which people capture their experience, think about it and evaluate it (Driscoll, 1994). Here I have used the Gibbs model of reflection which includes description, feeling, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan of a learning experience (Gibbs 1988). The clinical skill I have learned is PEG feeding. Percutanious endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) feeding introduced into clinical practice in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially I was not able to administer medication or feed through the peg feed due to the lack of knowledge and skills on how to do it properly. I had to ask for the help of senior staff to help with feeding. I was desperate to achieve the skill to peg feed which I must possess to administer medication to that client. I asked one of the senior staff who was looking after that client to teach me how to do PEG feeding. She demonstrated it to me and I discussed the matter with my mentor. My mentor put me through PEG feed training that gave me all the necessary information about the proper use and management of PEG tube. The next time I had the chance to do it I could relate the theory to practice by continuously performing the feeding, I gained competence in performing that skill. Feeling I was interested in learning about PEG feeding from the very first time I saw it in the care home. I was eager to learn the skill. By observing my colleague doing it and by attending training I learned the procedure clearly and gained necessary confidence to perform it. I obtained consent and maintained privacy before carrying out the procedure. I was nervous whilst doing it for the first time but with the support of my colleagues I overcame the stress and mastered the skill. Evaluation Though I was unaware of the correct procedure of PEG feeding and was unable to perform the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Theory Of Grieving The theory of grief and loss was developed by Elizabeth Kubler Ross (1969) to apply to people who are grieving as well as those that are dying. Different people deal with grief differently but according to Kubler Ross suggested that when people grieve they will go through these stages; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Sometimes loss is expected and sometime it is a surprise to people. The first stage; denial is about the person who is grieving will feel numb and shocked and would not be willing to accept that their loved one has passed away or is terminally ill (Kubler Ross, 1969). This relates to Jason Martins who has lost his mother due to an illness. This theory was used to be able to understand how Jason is feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Social workers can improve empowerment to a grieving person by ensuring that they have the support that they need (Parkes, 1986/2007) this includes support from the community and neighbours as this experience will offer the bereaved person encouragement to continue living their life. When service users are grieving they are vulnerable therefore social workers should establish their professional relationship with them using honesty and transparency (PCF domain 2 Values and Ethics) therefore, the client does not identify their social worker as a personal friend. Social workers can prevent oppression and discrimination by ensuring that anti oppressive and anti discriminatory policies are in place (PCF domain 3 Diversity) and they should ensure that they are aware of the challenges that service users face due to their emotional state and their identity. The grief and loss theory has been criticised by Corr et al (1997) who stated that there is not real life evidence to prove that people do go through the stages one (1) to stage five (5). Also the theory was criticised for not acknowledging the limitations of the model, for example, people do not always go through all the five (5) stages. Another criticism of the theory is that using the word stage to describe the grieving process implies how inconsiderate it is as it forces the bereaved to internalise their feelings waiting for that stage to pass which will affect their life in the long ... • 45. Grilled Chicken Salad Analysis Salads my not be your best friend when counting calories. In the video there were two salads utilized as examples from Chili s. One was the quesadilla explosion and the other a grilled chicken salad. After an in depth review of the salads it is frightening how many calories can be hidden in salads. The quesadilla explosion salad had 1360 calories, 88 grams fat, 29 grams of saturated fat, and 3000 mg of sodium. On the other hand the grilled chicken salad contained only 430 calories. • 46. Headstone V. Collins Analysis In observing Headstone´s more genuine and honest attitude towards marriage, it is clear that his proposal is more convincing than Collins´. In Collins proposal, he speaks of his patroness, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, whom he relies on very heavily for advice. She says that marriage is for [her] sake; and for [Collins], showing the selfish intentions behind Collins proposal. His self interested goals of marrying Bennet are insincere and not as persuasive, making her less likely to empathize with Collins and accept his proposal. He is merely proposing to Bennet for the purpose of pleasing his patroness, unlike the romance fueled marriage perspective clearly shown in Headstone s proposal. Contrary to Collins, Headstone appeals to an honest and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his proposal, Headstone makes no assumption that Hexam will accept his offer at all, in fact, after he makes his argument, he states that he does not know that [he] could say more if [he] tried. He knows that he has said all that he can to persuade her, and it is up to Hexam now to decide. By giving Hexam freedom to choose her response, she will most likely appreciate this and be more inclined to accept. However, Collins makes several assumptions about Bennet s response. He goes on to state several different aspects of his to be marriage to her, even including that she will find [his patroness ] manners beyond anything [he] can describe. By using the word will , there is an inference that Collins has made, an inference with a tone of finality that more or less makes it seem like Bennet has already accepted his proposal. This eager assumption may be off putting to Bennet and may negatively affect her actual response to the proposal. However, in Headstone s phrases like if you would return a favorable answer to my offer, he uses conditional words like if and would to show that he does not expect Hexam to accept his proposal, and that his thoughts are simply hypothetical, adding to the effective freedom of Hexam in choosing her ... • 47. Theme Of Women In The Bluest Eye In the end, the men are afraid of death, that it was they are most fearful of. By choosing death, not only is she finally making a choice in her life, but she is finally gaining power over the kings, princes and rulers which she always wished to, because she is doing what they fear most. Women have little to no choice in their lives, society and systems within it, make decisions for most women, like Firdaus. By taking away a woman s ability to choose, it is oppressing her. If you have a voice, you have power, which is why there is a power struggle of this proportion among women, because their voice is stolen from them. The Bluest Eye. To complicate Firdaus story, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison tells the story of another girl s life. Pecola was born and raised a poor, powerless, Black girl. Her power struggle is different, it is more internalized. Pecola grew up in an abusive household, where she witnessed her father s power over her mother. When she was still just a child, her father raped her. In this way he was able to gain power over Pecola as well. She learned from a young age that Black meant ugly, which in turn meant powerless. Whereas white was beautiful and powerful. This can be demonstrated by Pecola s interest in a cup that had Shirley Temple s face on it, which is highly symbolic within the text, We knew she was fond of the Shirley Temple cup and took every opportunity to drink milk out of it just to handle sweet Shirley s face (Morrison 23). Pecola cherished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
