Electricity Generation
Electricity generation is the process of creating electricity from other forms of energy.
The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the 1820s and early 1830s
by the British scientist Michael Faraday. His basic method is still used today: electricity is generated
by the movement of a loop of wire, or disc of copper between the poles of a magnet.[1]
For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers. The other
processes, electricity transmission, distribution, and electrical power storage and recovery using
pumped storage methods are normally carried out by the electrical power industry.
Electricity is most often generated at a power station by electromechanical ... Show more content on

The combustion of fossil fuels supplies most of the heat to these engines, with a significant fraction
from nuclear fission and some from renewable sources. The modern steam turbine invented by Sir
Charles Parsons in 1884 today generates about 80 percent of the electric power in the world using a
variety of heat sources.

Large dams such as Three Gorges Dam in China can provide large amounts of hydroelectric power; it
will have a 22.5 GW capability.

All turbines are driven by a fluid acting as an intermediate energy carrier. Many of the heat engines
just mentioned are turbines. Other types of turbines can be driven by wind or falling water.
Sources include: * Steam Water is boiled by: * Nuclear fission, * The burning of fossil fuels (coal,
natural gas, or petroleum). In hot gas (gas turbine), turbines are driven directly by gases produced by
the combustion of natural gas or oil. Combined cycle gas turbine plants are driven by both steam and
natural gas. They generate power by burning natural gas in a gas turbine and use residual heat to
generate additional electricity from steam. These plants offer efficiencies of up to 60%. * Renewables.

Character Analysis Of Linda Loman In Death Of A Salesman
One of the main characters in the play, Death of a Salesman, is Linda Loman. Linda Loman faces
many difficulties in this play, one of which is being part an affair she was unaware of. In the play,
there are many sides to one story, and there are many stories with many sides. Death of a Salesman
can be portrayed in an array of ways, depending on the form of literary criticism used.
Linda Loman is the mother of Biff and Happy. Her husband is Willy Loman. Her character is viewed
as the protagonist. The true colors of Mrs. Loman come out as the play progresses. The characteristics
of the pathological dynamics of the Loman family (Cohen) are also played out.
Her son, Biff sees her as a strong woman. Biff doesn t think Linda needs Willy in her life. Biff thinks
Willy holds the family back. He s got no character Charley wouldn t do this. Not in his own house
spewing out that vomit from his mind (Miller 38). Woman are thought to be dependent on men. The
way Biff, her oldest son, views her is different than society views her.
Happy sees Linda as a sweet woman who thrives. He thinks she can do no wrong. Happy views her as
the perfect housewife. He thinks she can do anything for him and that if he wants something, she ll
make it happen. Hey, what re you doing up? Where s Pop? Is he sleeping? We met two girls, Mom,
very fine types. Here we brought you some flowers. Put them in you room, Ma (Miller 94). Happy
wants the best for her, but what he views as the best, is not

National Security Archives Analysis
The National Security Archives have made an enormous impact on the Latin American Dirty Wars. To
understand the full impact of the National Security Archives this paper will answer three very
important questions: how and why the articles came about, the National Security Archives help to
explain how and why the Untied States government was involved with the Dirty Wars, and what has
been done with the articles. The National Security Archives is a very important aspect of not only
American lives, also the worlds. The National Security Archives are located at the library of George
Washington University in Washington D.C2. In 1985, the National Security Archives were created
because of the increasing lack of transparency in the government. This

APA Style Of Documentation
APAAmerican Psychology Association Style of Documentation Helpful hints on how to use it.
APA citation style refers to the rules and conventions established by the American Psychological
Association for documenting sources used in a research paper. APA style requires two elements for
citing outside sources. These are the Reference Citation in Text and the Reference List. Together these
elements identify and credit the sources consulted in the paper and allow others to access or retrieve
this material.
Reference Citations in Text
In APA style, citations to sources are placed in the text of the paper in order to briefly identify sources
for readers and enable them to locate the source of the cited information in the Reference List. ...

Write out the last name and initials for all authors of a particular work.
Capitalize only the first word of a title or subtitle, and any proper names that are part of a title.
Use an ampersand ( ) instead of the word and when listing multiple authors of a single work.
Use the abbreviation p. or pp. to designate page numbers of articles from periodicals that do not use
volume numbers, especially newspapers. These abbreviations are also used to designate pages in
encyclopedia articles and chapters from edited books.
Indentation *: The first line of the entry is flush with the left margin, and all subsequent lines are
indented (5 to 7 spaces) to form a hanging indent .
Underlining vs. Italics *: It is appropriate to use italics instead of underlining for titles of books and
journals.

The Importance Of Non-Fictional Media
While it is clear that nonfictional media can convey meaning because it is based on facts, it is still
unclear as to whether or not fictional media can convey meaning. When the word meaning is used in
this paper it is referring to what is indicated to be, or actually is, expressed or indicated; signification;
import. (dictionary.com) There is an argument as to whether or not fictional media can convey
meaning, specifically cartoons. We can define a cartoon as interpretive pictures utilizing
symbolization and bold exaggeration to present an idea, a message, or a point of view concerning
events, things, or situations. (Smith Leptich, 1963). From this definition, it seems as though fictional
media can convey meaning but this paper will take a deeper look into that. Fictional media should
convey meaning because there are large amounts of children that tune in weekly to watch fictional
media such as cartoons. There are higher stakes when the audience is children, so it is important for
fictional media to convey meaning. Additionally, related to the topic of suspension of disbelief it is
extremely important for fictional media to convey meaning in case people actually believe what they
see is true. This paper will take a closer look at media such as Sausage Party and make the argument
that this media does not convey any meaning. On the other hand, even if fictional media does not
convey any meaning it still has the capability of bringing an entire family together. There is plenty of
fictional media that does, in fact, convey meaning, especially on television. Fictional media has the
capability to get children to feel more involved with tactics such as participatory viewing. These
fictional cartoons on television can actually be extremely helpful in educating children, when used
correctly. Fictional media has the capability of portraying politics in cartoon form, even if it is
propaganda, it can be argued that it is conveying meaning even if it is an over exaggeration of a
current event. Even though media might be fictional does not mean that it cannot convey meaning. In
fact, fictional media can convey meaning and it is crucial that fictional media relay a positive
message.
Fictional media can sometimes

The Cms Software ( Cmssw )
3.1 CMS SOFTWARE (CMSSW)
The overall collection of software, referred to as CMSSW, is built around a Framework, an Event Data
Model (EDM), and Services needed by the simulation, calibration and alignment, and reconstruction
modules that process event data so that physicists can perform analysis. The primary goal of the
Framework and EDM is to facilitate the development and deployment of reconstruction and analysis
software.
The CMSSW event processing model consists of one executable, called cmsRun, is configured at run
time by the user s job specific configuration file that tells cmsRun which data to use which modules to
execute, which parameter settings to use for each module, what is the order or the executions of
modules, called path, how the events are filtered within each path, and how the paths are connected to
the output files. The goal of L1 HGCAL software is to simulate the L1 electronics and data processing
of the HGCAL to carry out analysis of the different objects.
3.2 WORKING
The main concept used in this software is that it does the task of simulation of electronics and
processing of data with the aim to study different options all together. This software works by creating
various objects using factory and storing them in a vector. The Tree Manager manages all these
objects for creating branches in a root tree and filling them with required functions. There is a Tree
Manager plugin class which will initially create a root tree using TFileService (

Introducing epistobabble [2]
General Systems Theory or cybernetics as it was known in Europe, can be divided into two cybernetic
models: simple cybernetics or first order cybernetics and cybernetics of cybernetics or second order
cybernetics.
There is no definitive breakdown of terms in the literature, which has caused some confusion and
inconsistencies, as might ordinarily be the case with the emergence of a new paradigm. This new
(cybernetic) epistemology has, however, a common foundation in the writings of Gregory Bateson
(Searight Openlander, 1987, p.52).
Gregory Bateson introduced the interdisciplinary concept of cybernetics to the social sciences and
applied it to the realm of systematic family therapy (Becvar Becvar, 2000). Bateson described
cybernetics as the circular mechanism through which systems regulated themselves by feeding back
information to the system (Vorster, 2003, p.52). He found cybernetics to be an appropriate metaphor to
make sense of his lifelong concern with epistemology. Applied to the theory of human
communication, Bateson said that: if you want to understand some phenomenon or appearance, you
must consider that phenomenon within the context of all completed circuits which are relevant to it
(1971, p.244).

Dual Language Service Experience Paper
Experiencing anything new is always a step outside of my comfort zone, and with this project in
particular whether it was going to someone else s church or bringing them to mine. I felt confident
when it came to going to someone else s church, because I had a sense of what to expect and felt as
though I knew enough about the environment. However, when it came to bringing someone to my
church I did not feel that same sense of confidence. I have a primary church(full member), and I have
another church that is smaller and more family like. I chose to bring my guest(Andrew H) to my
smaller church, because the size would not have been has impactful as well as they do a dual language
service(haitian creole english). I also chose to attend Andrew s church, because i somewhat of the
culture there but I wanted to learn more. Saturday, November 27 I attended Braintree SDA Church,
and it was quite different from what I am used to. Those leading the service and those participating in
it have more interaction than I am used to. When it came to worship there was a designated book in
the pews and a list of hymns in the program for you to follow along. I was not used to retaining the

struggles as the Jongas do. My parents came to America to seek the same dreams as Neni and Jende,

Rousseau and Duty to the State Essay
It is generally agreed that the great philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau and the artist Jacques Louis
David had played a great role in serving and supporting the French Revolution, in addition to,
showing their devotion to their state and explore the notion of duty to the state each one by his own
special way.
The great philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau had inspired the revolution by his argument and ideas
that was based on Reason. He played a great role in exploring the notion of duty to the state by
providing the public with his argument in the social contract, which was frequently quoted and referred
to during the early stages of the Revolution.

Hence, whenever the individuals follow the state s order and be aware of his duty to the state, then he
is serving his country in addition to serving himself in the first place.
But Rousseau s system has a remarkable problem .He insures that the will of each person always
coincide with the will of the state either voluntary or by force and this inclined to be autocratic
solution and against democracy .He neglects the minorities views and forces them to obey the general
will. in another word, they had to suppress their views and follow the majorities, whether they are
convinced with it or not. He justifies that, by doing so, you are forcing them to be free and this is for
their benefit at the end.
Regarding Jacques Louis David, who was the official painter of the French revolution and later
Napoleon .He tried to express his devotion to the state through out his paintings, which was exhibited
at the saloon in order to be seen by the public. He believed in the significance and value of the art in
conveying messages in order to inspire the public, especially during a critical circumstance like the
revolution. As an official painter of the revolution, he tried to express his devotion to the state by
painting pictures; each element of his paintings tends to convey messages about duty to the state.

Universal Survey Museum
In the essay The Universal Survey Museum by Carol Duncan And Alan Wallach they talk about how
the Louvre was the first universal survey museum. From what I get from this essay the universal
survey museum reminds me of what most would call a traditional museum. Also in this essay Duncan
and Wallach state:
Museums belong to the same architectural and art historical category as temples, churches, shrines and
certain types of palaces. This comparison is not simply a convenient metaphor: museums share
fundamental characteristics with traditional ceremonial monuments. (2 3)

An art museum is a place to view the world as separate from ones self. One can view and contemplate
events and issues in a quite civil manner. The Art museum is a place to look at the world by ones self
not bothered by the ones around. But what happens when people act against these ways. Or put things
that should not be there. Then people ultimately change the why the space influence others. For
example a modern day guards chair or a fan for circulation. These objects although necessary often
distract from the space, especially if the space is an older museum like the Louvre. People would
hardly notice if there wasn t such a hard contrasts between old and new. However people often ignore
these items of comforted and ultimately change their final memory of a space to make it the most
idealistic version of reality. Why should any normal people want to be brought out of their perfect idea

My Memoir
My Memoir
Broken. My world is crashing before my eyes. How will any of this ever be okay again? Oh, that s

inspiration, my grandpa was ill. Over the next few months he got weaker. He wasn t able to do
anything on his own. He couldn t walk, eat, drink, shower, you name it, he couldn t do it. It was
honestly and truly, the hardest thing i ve ever had to watch. You go from seeing your hero funny,
energetic, strong, and happy to weak, lifeless, and sad. Skip forward a little bit more and he was put
into the hospital in May. I wasn t able to visit him because every time I d start to go, I d have a panic
attack. I was finally able to visit him June 1st. At this time, he had been in and out of the hospital at
least 4 times. When I visited, as soon as I walked in, I smelled antiseptic and latex gloves. Just like a
hospital would smell. It was a wonderful hospital though, there was a pianist that was playing jazz in
the lobby. My grandpa loved it. When we visited, we cherished every bonding moment, laughing
moment, and sad moment knowing we wouldn t have much more time with him. All the memories
that night were worth keeping ahold of. I remember so clearly that as I walked into his hospital room,
he saw me, and I got the biggest smile I ve ever seen from anyone. It brought tears to my eyes. With
that smile I saw the dehydration on him. His lips were cracking, dry,

Divisions between Women in Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea
In Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea, a sea of differences engulfs the women, stirring up prejudice and
animosity. Instead of perceiving how much they are alike, these women allow the water to destroy the
bridges between them. They are envious of each other s wealth, leery of each other s premature aging,
and unforgiving towards those who do not belong to their ethnic groups. Differences in economics,
age, and nationality among the women cause misunderstandings and divisions between them.

black people did not hate us quite so much when we were poor. We were white but we had not

too, is frightened of the family s new wealth. Poverty is something to be laughed at, but wealth is
enviable. She knows that the black people can be dangerous and cruel for reasons [Mr Mason] wouldn

disguises of friendship to steal them through cunning. Christophine also cunningly gets the girls from
the bayside to help with chores without paying them. Every penny matters in the West Indies and the
black women are willing to sacrifice trust and friendship for monetary gain. When Antoinette speaks
of England, one of Christophine s main concerns is the theft of money there: You have money in your

Antoinette, like her mother Annette, is not concerned with money. She is more concerned about
happiness apart from material goods: But how can [Christophine] know the best thing for me to do,

Medicare covers this test beginning at age 50 or older (no co insurance, co pay or Part B deductible)
when it is done for screening only. In some cases this screening method begins as a screening tool and
turns into a diagnostic measure. If the health care provider performing the test identifies any polyps or
cancerous lesions that require removal and biopsy, the individual will be charged co insurance or co

colonoscopy would be required to visualize the entire colon to detect other polyps or cancer (ACS,

Summary OfThe Poison Tree, And A Poison Tree By William Blake
During the Romantic Period, there was an overabundance of body hating within the mentality of the
orthodox Christian society. William Blake had apathy for organized religion because of how restrictive
it was. Orthodox Christianity impacts social and sexual issues, prevalent in sonnets My Pretty Rose
Tree, The Sick Rose, The Garden of Love, Ah! Sun flower and A Poison Tree. All these sonnets are
from the experience section of Blake s Songs of Innocence and Experience. Each share common
features of faltering innocence, experience, and deception. By comparing these sonnets, it is apparent
nature is a metaphor for a religion which is at the pinnacle of social and sexual issues. Blake s quote
from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, as the caterpillar chooses the fairest leaves to lay her eggs on,
so the priest lays his curse on the fairest joys (l.16 17) links to the idea that nature indicates growth as
a general idea from innocence to experience. In A Poison Tree, nature becomes a symbol of vehement
and deep indignation; even further, nature provokes death when emotions are unreleased and
suppressed. The Poison Tree indicates nature is a symbol for destructive anger. A metaphor emerges
with the tree growing as it represents his wrath (l.2). The tree represents his growing, suppressed anger
which becomes so prevalent it produces a poisonous apple. In the morning glad I see, my foe
outstretched beneath the tree (l. 15 16) implements a dark side to humanity and the potential for
innocence to falter. The danger of vehement is reflected in the diction around the poisonous apple.
Blake addresses the issue of suppressed emotions, which grow inside the head until it eventually
becomes destructive to the self and others. Nature is an effective way to express emotions and give it
human qualities because it relates closely to the cycle of life humans endure. Furthermore, the idea
that nature is a metaphor for a bigger picture, is denoted in The Garden of Love, Ah! Sun flower, My
Pretty Rose Tree and The Sick Rose. These metaphors implement how important it is in the Romantic
Period, to draw connections between humans and nature. Blake uses nature to subtlety portray how
religion impacts social and sexual issues,

Theodore Roosevelt Contributions
Theodore Roosevelt spent his life trying to preserve the natural land and resources of the United
States, while promoting other countries to do so too. While president, he expanded the power of the
government to preserve land and create National Parks in order to promote a healthy use of the land
and allow all people in America to enjoy what the outdoors have to offer. Theodore Roosevelt
believed that the land was being over exploited by companies and land grabbers, therefore, he wanted
to protect the land, but wanted the land to still be used in a way that was healthy for the environment
and would benefit the greatest number of people.
Theodore Roosevelt was born in New York City in 1858 and is the second oldest child in the family
(The Life of Theodore Roosevelt). He loved to be in nature and enjoyed reading books, therefore, he
decided to combine both loves and studied nature (The Life of Theodore Roosevelt). As a child, he
gathered a collection of dead animals in order to preserve and study them then created The Roosevelt

The Production Of Flashlights By 50 % ( $ 2 ) Essay
Introduction
The supplier of the company has increased the price of an important component (LED Bulb) in
the production of flashlights by 50% ($2). The company has already tried to look for solutions
such as changing the supplier or finding a replacement of the part but it has been unsuccessful
because it has an agreement with the supplier and would need the specific part to produce the
product. The challenge faced now by the company is to absorb the costs bared and find a solution
to earn profits from the available amount of products.
Effects of Cost Increase
The cost has increased by a significant amount and this would decrease the company s raw material
purchases, sales volume, production and profit:
 The raw material purchases would be affected as with the same amount of money used in
purchasing the materials, less number of raw materials could be purchased, for example: if we
the material cost per unit is $4 and we purchase raw materials of $1,000,000, we can produce
250,000 units (1,000,000/4). Whereas if the material cost increases to $6, we would only be able
to produce 166,666 units (1,000,000/6) with the same amount of investment in raw materials.
 The production capacity would be affected as there would be less amount of raw materials
available with the same amount of investment as the current quarter.
 The sales volume would decrease because the production would be less as it is directly affected
by the raw materials purchased.
 The

Reiteration In A Real Doll
A.M. Homes short story A Real Doll gives pursuers a provocative plot and portrayal that connects

Essay about Worldviews
Introduction:
In this essay, I will critically discuss the statement of worldviews is essential for critical thinking in
terms of learning at university. I will use my own experiences, Northedge, Bizzell, Hobson and
Weston s readings, as well as Veitch, Christensen and Thompson s lectures to support my thesis and
main points, in terms of my life and experiences learning at university in a diverse culture. The thesis
of my essay is we, as students, need to have our own worldview and learn to gain knowledge through
our life experiences within the culture, as well as deeply engage and assimilate with the knowledge or

way of seeing, is also a way of not seeing (Thiele, 2010). She explains that the way people see the
world do not mean that we can see the other way of the world. As a result, we often could not see the

to Australian s academic culture. Thiele (2010) has pointed out that university students in Australia

Greed In The Arabian Nights
The consumption of greed
The First story I decided to focus my analysis on is The Arabian Nights also referred to as A Thousand
and One Nights by an unknown author. This story begins with the sultan shahrayar and his wife. When
shahrayar finds out his wife is unfaithful he kills her and vows to Mary a new woman every night
prior to killing her every morning to avoid betrayal. His vizier s daughter, Scheherazade comes up
with a plan to stop shahrayar. She marries him and tells him a story that night. Although, she doesn t
finish it so he will be eager to hear the rest the next night. The next night comes and she finishes the
story and starts another. She tells story s such as The Story of the Merchant and the Demon , The first

Imagery is the formation of mental images, figures, or likenesses of things, or of such images
collectively. In the story The Arabian Nights there wasn t much imagery because the style of writing in
the collection of short stories seems to include more dialect rather than imagery. However, in the story
In a Grove the imagery that stood out was the way the weapons showed greed. An expression of this
was the testimony of the policeman when he caught Tajomour. He stated You say that this bow and
these arrows look like the ones owned by the dead man? Then Tajomour must be the murderer.
(Akutagawa,1922). This quote shows us that Tajomour was greedy for those weapons resulting in him
killing an innocent man to get them. comparable to imagery is the characters in these two stories
actions towards the greed they feel. The action that lead to greed in The Arabian Nights was expressed
when the king felt compelled to let Shahrazad live. The king thought to his self I will spare her until I
hear the rest of the story; then I will have her put to death the next day. (unknown, 23). The king is so
greedy to hear the next section of the story he is willing to go against his rules and extend her
execution.
Cohesive with this story Takehiko also shows the same greed that the king shows in the story in a
grove with this expression in his confessional. He expressed I went on to tell them id buried the things
in a grove behind the mountain, and that I d like to sell them at a low price to anyone who would come
to have them . . . you see, isn t greed terrible? He was beginning to be moved by my talk before he
knew it. (Akutagawa ,1922). This shows how Takehiko let his greed for the treasure at a lower price
lure him into his own

Several thrips species are known to feed on soybean (Glycine max
Merr.) and can cause yield reduction. Beside, the other important reason for thrips survey is to
determine its role as vectors of
Tospovirus in soybean. There is little information available about thrips species present on soybean
crop, and their abundance in Egypt.
Field survey took place at the farm of Agricultural Experiment
Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza Governorate,
Egypt (season 2014) to survey the different thrips species. Soybean cv.
Giza 111 was sown in late May. The experimental area received all the usual agricultural practices
except for any pest control measures.
Thrips species associated with soybean were collected and differentiated to species. A total of 16
different thrips species was surveyed. These included 14 phytophagous and 2 predator thrips species.

Not all schools have climbing walls in their schools so activities like the trust walk can be done which
does not require any equipment. In the trust walk students are paired up and one student wears a
blindfold and the other student leads and helps the blind folded student walk around while avoiding
obstacles. This type of activity helps develop trust amongst the students as well as communication
skills. Adventure Education uses different activities like that to promote physical activity, and students
of all different skill levels can participate. Adventure sports and activities are better than team sports
because any student can excel at them, rather than in team sports where some students are not athletic
and refuse to participate. Adventure education should be taught to older elementary grade levels such
as grades 4 and 5, and to middle school children. The skills needed to succeed are basic motor skills
and do not require any athleticism, and promotes interpersonal skills. As the students begin to grow
older and reach high school, they can participate in wilderness sports in physical education class.
Wilderness sports are related to adventure education but there are differences. Wilderness sports
promote physically challenging outdoor activities such as camping, backpacking, canoeing, hiking,
orienteering, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and cycling

the tragic events, from the beginning of Hitler s dictatorship, and the fall of the Nazi power. From

everyone else on the team. The only thing he cared about in life was basketball, but in this book that

basketball that was interesting to him, and was mentored by Mr. Goldy. Throughout the book, Slam

Paper On Mood Disorder
Mood disorder refers to the destruction or disturbance of the mood. Firstly, this paper will explain the
causes of mood disorders using psychological and sociocultural factors followed by the arguments of
the strengths and limitations for each factor. The most unique contribution to psychological disorder is
stress and trauma. To know what causes mood disorder, we reflect on the stressful or traumatic life
events. I am going to discuss two major features which contribute to psychological disorder.
Psychological mood disorder refers to behavioral pattern which affects multiple areas of life. The first
feature is stress and depression. When asked what causes depression, most people define depression
such as chronic strains, loneliness, unemployment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another good example will be a single mother of three kids losing her job. Such stressful events may
lead to depression. However, stress and depression has its share of limitations. For example, if a single
mother whose three kids are working loses her job, she may not feel much affected as she still has the
support of her children working and able to support financially unlike a single mother with schooling
children instead. The second feature which causes mood disorder is bipolar disorder. Experiencing
depressive and maniac episodes which may be intense may lead a person to face bipolar disorder. The
cause of such disorder is because of being related to poor interpersonal problem solving which may
influence one s quantity and quality of social network. Interpersonal relationship refers to the family,
social environment whereby there is a difference in ethnicity and genders across age groups for both
males and females. Another example will be failing an important exam, or developing abnormal
diseases or even a series of several stressors (Carson et al., 2000). However, on the other hand, life

Humans Impact On Climate Change
Humans Impact on Climate Change Most of the blame for climate change over the years especially
after the 1850 s has been placed on humans. As long as modern humans have roamed the earth, they
have been upsetting the natural balance of the earth. People have did this by clearing areas of land,
killing animals, polluting water, etc. Before the modern human , people like the Native Americans
cared for the earth. They respected the land and the people that cared for it. Unfortunately, people don
t care anymore. Until recently, people did not care for the earth. People did not realize the harm they
were causing it. Now we know how detrimental things are that we continue to do and used to do. We
are slowly destroying our climate and environment. The land and ocean surfaces have warmed
roughly 1.53 degrees Fahrenheit from 1880 2012 (How much has the global temperature risen since
1880? 1). Land warms faster than the oceans. In the northern hemisphere, 1983 to 2012 were the
warmest 30 year period in the last 1,300 years (How much has the global temperature risen since
1880? 1). This is a cause for concern among scientist. According to the IPCC, Latin America s
contribution of greenhouse gases globally is at a low of 4%. In this area, deforestation is quite
common and the release of carbon to the atmosphere from it has the potential to alter the global
carbon balance. Latin American forest represent 27% of the global forest coverage (The regional

Daily Water Level forecasting in a Reservoir using A Probabilistic Nonlinear Model
A reservoir is a place, either natural or artificial for storing water and this storage may be drawn from
for use, often to meet the uneven distribution of water in space and time. The natural flow of rivers
and streams differ significantly with the change in weather throughout a year and may lead to
overflows (flood) or low flows (droughts) in various regions (Postel and Richter 2012; Poff et al.
2007). Under such conditions, water reservoirs play an important role to alleviate these natural
disasters by holding water during periods of floods, and allowing steady release of water during
periods of droughts. In addition, these are widely used as the source of water for drinking as well as
irrigation. Therefore, accurate forecasts of reservoir water level is highly essential for optimizing the
various water management issues.
Concurrently, forecast of water level in reservoirs is a very challenging task, since it is impacted by
not only stream flow volume but also on other factors such as flow velocity, stream flow path, rainfall,
temperature, watershed characteristics, tributaries and the like (Bates et al. 2008; Piao et al. 2010;
Chamoglou et al. 2014). Tributaries, that convey suspended sediment, severely shorten the reservoir
life through siltation and rapidly reduce its storage capacity (Panagopoulos et al. 2008). Water losses
through evaporation may also occur in a reservoir (Christensen

Post Civil War Foreign Policy Analysis
One of the U.S government s main functions is to conduct relations with almost 200 nations in the
world. It is designed to further certain goals and assure Americas security and defense. Our foreign
policy has changed over time reflecting the change in nation interest. (Constitutional Rights
Foundation) The U.S main interest was to maintain its independence from European countries. This
was carried out by the Monroe Doctrine, which limited European attempts to further colonize the
Western Hemisphere. Post civil war foreign policy was a departure from pre foreign policy because of
their actions and motivations. The acquisition of contiguous territory in pre civil war policy departed
into acquisition of non contiguous territory also known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They feel it is their duty to educate the deprived races, and as they travel to new nations Americans
carry with them their Christian beliefs. Josiah Strong was a big believer of divinely commissioned ,
that God wants Americans to spread the word of God. Although the second Manifest Destiny shares
all of these aspects with the first seeming like a broken continuation, the second Manifest Destiny is
also very much a departure from the original beliefs. Expansion became a huge competition between
the nations. The United States was expanding to foreign lands, but not simply to achieve a goal, now
the US wanted to compete with Europe and take natural resources from conquered territories. America
needed more resources because it was going through a period of overproduction, as evidenced by the
depression of 1893. This way the United States wouldn t merely gain more natural resources, but also
new markets, new capitol, and new labor. As Americans set out to lay claim to these new territories,
they left with the Social Darwinism belief that stronger ones will naturally dominate weaker nations.
Joshia Strong the author of Our Country: Its Possible Future and Its Present Crisis said, the
unoccupied arable lands of the earth are limited, and will soon be taken also, that the Anglo Saxon
white race highest race should rule, and govern the weaker races.

Alexander the Great Summary 16
Alexander the Great Alexander the Great was the king of Macedonia, conqueror of the Persian
Empire, and one of the greatest military geniuses of all times. Even at an early age, Alexander had the
promise to become a great leader. Through all his victories and conquests, he has become a great hero
and has had a large impact on history. That is why I chose he book Alexander the Great, by J.R.
Hamilton for my review. Hamilton does a very good job with the story of Alexander the Great. The
book begins by talking about the Macedonian homeland and the make up of the people, their culture.
Alexander was born in 356 BC in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia he was the son of Philip II,
king of Macedonia, and of Olympias, a princess of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In June he contracted a fever and died. He left his empire, in his own words, to the strongest ; this
uncertain testament resulted in huge conflicts for half a century. Hamilton believes that this could have
possible been Alexander s greatest mistake, because his empire then falls apart. Though all of his
conquest Hamilton talks about how well, if not planned that the Hellenistic culture was spread.
Alexander was one of the greatest generals of all time, which was why I was interested in this book in
the first place. I really enjoyed reading this book because it used great detail and talked about other
important things in Alexander s life then what everyone knows him for. Hamilton reaches the reader
by using such great description, and you actually can visualize what you are reading. You think you
can see what the people look like or even see the battlefield. Hamilton also does a good job of
breaking down each section so that everything isn t just thrown into a huge mess. However, sometimes
in the book I found somethings and words hard to understand and Hamilton also got confusing once in
awhile. Overall I really liked the book and it has increased my interest in the history of Grrk and

The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the 1820s and early 1830s by the British scientist Michael Faraday. His basic method is still used today: electricity is generated by the movement of a loop of wire, or disc of copper between the poles of a magnet.[1] For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers. The other processes, electricity transmission, distribution, and electrical power storage and recovery using pumped storage methods are normally carried out by the electrical power industry. Electricity is most often generated at a power station by electromechanical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The characteristics of the pathological dynamics of the Loman family (Cohen) are also played out. Her son, Biff sees her as a strong woman. Biff doesn t think Linda needs Willy in her life. • 7. The Importance Of Non-Fictional Media While it is clear that nonfictional media can convey meaning because it is based on facts, it is still unclear as to whether or not fictional media can convey meaning. When the word meaning is used in this paper it is referring to what is indicated to be, or actually is, expressed or indicated; signification; import. (dictionary.com) There is an argument as to whether or not fictional media can convey meaning, specifically cartoons. We can define a cartoon as interpretive pictures utilizing symbolization and bold exaggeration to present an idea, a message, or a point of view concerning events, things, or situations. (Smith Leptich, 1963). From this definition, it seems as though fictional media can convey meaning but this paper will take a deeper look into that. Fictional media should convey meaning because there are large amounts of children that tune in weekly to watch fictional media such as cartoons. There are higher stakes when the audience is children, so it is important for fictional media to convey meaning. Additionally, related to the topic of suspension of disbelief it is extremely important for fictional media to convey meaning in case people actually believe what they see is true. This paper will take a closer look at media such as Sausage Party and make the argument that this media does not convey any meaning. On the other hand, even if fictional media does not convey any meaning it still has the capability of bringing an entire family together. There is plenty of fictional media that does, in fact, convey meaning, especially on television. Fictional media has the capability to get children to feel more involved with tactics such as participatory viewing. These fictional cartoons on television can actually be extremely helpful in educating children, when used correctly. Fictional media has the capability of portraying politics in cartoon form, even if it is propaganda, it can be argued that it is conveying meaning even if it is an over exaggeration of a current event. Even though media might be fictional does not mean that it cannot convey meaning. In fact, fictional media can convey meaning and it is crucial that fictional media relay a positive message. I suppose, said Pooh, that s why he never understands anything. (A. A. Milne, The house at Pooh Corner) Introducing epistobabble [2] General Systems Theory or cybernetics as it was known in Europe, can be divided into two cybernetic models: simple cybernetics or first order cybernetics and cybernetics of cybernetics or second order cybernetics. There is no definitive breakdown of terms in the literature, which has caused some confusion and inconsistencies, as might ordinarily be the case with the emergence of a new paradigm. This new (cybernetic) epistemology has, however, a common foundation in the writings of Gregory Bateson (Searight Openlander, 1987, p.52). Gregory Bateson introduced the interdisciplinary concept of cybernetics to the social sciences and applied it to the realm of systematic family therapy (Becvar Becvar, 2000). Bateson described cybernetics as the circular mechanism through which systems regulated themselves by feeding back information to the system (Vorster, 2003, p.52). He found cybernetics to be an appropriate metaphor to make sense of his lifelong concern with epistemology. Applied to the theory of human communication, Bateson said that: if you want to understand some phenomenon or appearance, you must consider that phenomenon within the context of all completed circuits which are relevant to it

  • 20. Summary OfThe Poison Tree, And A Poison Tree By William Blake During the Romantic Period, there was an overabundance of body hating within the mentality of the orthodox Christian society. William Blake had apathy for organized religion because of how restrictive it was. Orthodox Christianity impacts social and sexual issues, prevalent in sonnets My Pretty Rose Tree, The Sick Rose, The Garden of Love, Ah! Sun flower and A Poison Tree. All these sonnets are from the experience section of Blake s Songs of Innocence and Experience. Each share common features of faltering innocence, experience, and deception. By comparing these sonnets, it is apparent nature is a metaphor for a religion which is at the pinnacle of social and sexual issues. Blake s quote from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, as the caterpillar chooses the fairest leaves to lay her eggs on, so the priest lays his curse on the fairest joys (l.16 17) links to the idea that nature indicates growth as a general idea from innocence to experience. In A Poison Tree, nature becomes a symbol of vehement and deep indignation; even further, nature provokes death when emotions are unreleased and suppressed. The Poison Tree indicates nature is a symbol for destructive anger. A metaphor emerges with the tree growing as it represents his wrath (l.2). The tree represents his growing, suppressed anger which becomes so prevalent it produces a poisonous apple. In the morning glad I see, my foe outstretched beneath the tree (l. 15 16) implements a dark side to humanity and the potential for innocence to falter. The danger of vehement is reflected in the diction around the poisonous apple. Blake addresses the issue of suppressed emotions, which grow inside the head until it eventually becomes destructive to the self and others. Nature is an effective way to express emotions and give it human qualities because it relates closely to the cycle of life humans endure. Furthermore, the idea that nature is a metaphor for a bigger picture, is denoted in The Garden of Love, Ah! Sun flower, My Pretty Rose Tree and The Sick Rose. These metaphors implement how important it is in the Romantic Period, to draw connections between humans and nature. Blake uses nature to subtlety portray how religion impacts social and sexual issues, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagery is the formation of mental images, figures, or likenesses of things, or of such images collectively. In the story The Arabian Nights there wasn t much imagery because the style of writing in the collection of short stories seems to include more dialect rather than imagery. However, in the story In a Grove the imagery that stood out was the way the weapons showed greed. An expression of this was the testimony of the policeman when he caught Tajomour. He stated You say that this bow and these arrows look like the ones owned by the dead man? Then Tajomour must be the murderer. (Akutagawa,1922). This quote shows us that Tajomour was greedy for those weapons resulting in him killing an innocent man to get them. comparable to imagery is the characters in these two stories actions towards the greed they feel. The action that lead to greed in The Arabian Nights was expressed when the king felt compelled to let Shahrazad live. The king thought to his self I will spare her until I hear the rest of the story; then I will have her put to death the next day. (unknown, 23). The king is so greedy to hear the next section of the story he is willing to go against his rules and extend her execution. Cohesive with this story Takehiko also shows the same greed that the king shows in the story in a grove with this expression in his confessional. He expressed I went on to tell them id buried the things in a grove behind the mountain, and that I d like to sell them at a low price to anyone who would come to have them . . . you see, isn t greed terrible? He was beginning to be moved by my talk before he knew it. (Akutagawa ,1922). This shows how Takehiko let his greed for the treasure at a lower price lure him into his own ... As long as modern humans have roamed the earth, they have been upsetting the natural balance of the earth. Daily Water Level forecasting in a Reservoir using A Probabilistic Nonlinear Model A reservoir is a place, either natural or artificial for storing water and this storage may be drawn from for use, often to meet the uneven distribution of water in space and time. The natural flow of rivers and streams differ significantly with the change in weather throughout a year and may lead to overflows (flood) or low flows (droughts) in various regions (Postel and Richter 2012; Poff et al. 2007). Under such conditions, water reservoirs play an important role to alleviate these natural disasters by holding water during periods of floods, and allowing steady release of water during periods of droughts. In addition, these are widely used as the source of water for drinking as well as irrigation. Therefore, accurate forecasts of reservoir water level is highly essential for optimizing the various water management issues. Concurrently, forecast of water level in reservoirs is a very challenging task, since it is impacted by not only stream flow volume but also on other factors such as flow velocity, stream flow path, rainfall, temperature, watershed characteristics, tributaries and the like (Bates et al. 2008; Piao et al. 2010; Chamoglou et al. 2014).
