Sci Fi And Fantasy Stories Philosophers And Physicists
Time is a complex topic. One that only seems to be tackled by the authors of Sci Fi and Fantasy
stories philosophers and physicists. Whether it s a book, movie, or show we seem to only be able to
talk and theorize about time in the abstract. Though this idea is less prevalent in the Harry Potter
series, it is still important and raises a lot of questions. Is time simply the ticking hands on the clock or
is it more complicated than that? We go through life talking about time as if it s a simple idea: there is
a cause. which creates an effect and this continues in a never ending cycle. What if it s not that
simple? If we are working under the belief that time travel is possible, then it would have to be a little
bit more complicated than that. Now granted I have not yet had the honor of going backwards nor
forwards in time. Nor do I know anyone that has moved from their own timeline, but just because it
hasn t been done doesn t mean it s not possible. Remember people also didn t think we could put a
man on the moon, but NASA proved them all wrong. Time Travel may not have happened yet but that
doesn t mean it s not going to happen in the future. Deutsch and Lockwood explain that time travel is
in fact scientifically possible. In the Quantum Physics of Time Travel they use Einstein s theory of
relativity as well as several other theories to explain that time travel is actually a scientific possibility
(Deutsch and Lockwood). Although until it happens there is no way to know

Evaluation Of The Current Liquidity Management Essay
Executive Summary
This report provides analysis of the current liquidity management in banks. Methods of evaluation
include peer, trend and horizontal analysis such as ratios, principle and regulations. In the first part, we
analyze the differences between liability liquidity management and asset liquidity management and
explore the features an effective liquidity management system should possess. Then we compare
liquidity ratios of four banks in Australia to examine their performance on liquidity management
according to line charts. Finally, Liquidity Coverage Ratio and Net Stable Funding ratio are
introduced, how they improve mutually.
Management of liquidity risk
The financial institutions have obligations to fulfill depositors requirement of withdrawing deposits. In
addition, they need sufficient funds to invest projects and issue loans to make profit, which maintains
a normal operation. Trade off exists between liquidity risk and profit. The ideal position is to earn high
profit while minimum risks. As a result, liquidity management is important for the financial
institutions to avoid risks of default.
Cash is the core in the operation of banks. However, the retained earnings and capital can be difficult
to meet day to day expenses and the demand of cash from depositors. If the banks cannot raise
additional funds or convert asset into cash immediately to meet their obligations, it can lead to losses
or default. (Topaloglou, 2015) This probability of loss is called

How Christians Interpret And Celebrate The Last Supper Today
Holy Communion is very important in Christian worship. This is the occasion on which the priest
distributes bread and wine. This is one is of the seven Sacraments. A Sacrament is a physical act with
a spiritual meaning. It takes the form of a ceremony intended to reveal and to give a greater sense of
closeness to God. The spiritual meaning of Holy Communion is togetherness with God and each other.
During Holy Communion the priest takes the bread and wine, gives thanks to God, breaks the bread
and then gives them to the worshipers. This is known as the Fourfold Eucharistic actions. Eucharist
means thanksgiving. So the Eucharist or Holy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This serves the purpose of remembering the Last Supper and also brings a feeling of closeness with
God, Jesus and each other. It will also remind Christians of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Holy Communion has four main meanings. The first is remembrance. Holy Communion
commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Corinthians 11:23 25 writes that Jesus took and
broke the bread, referred to it as his body and said, Do this in remembrance of me. Similarly after the
supper he took a cup and referred to it as, the new covenant in my blood and said, Do this whenever
you drink it, in remembrance of me.
The second is participation. Jesus did more than just take and break the bread and take and pour the
wine. He gave these things to the disciples to eat, thus he was involving them in the last supper. So
today the Last supper is more than just a commemoration, where we remember a past event, it is a
communion in which we participate in the remembrance and share in its benefits.
The apostle Paul wrote: is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the
blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? (1
Corinthians 10:16)
This show that in Holy Communion we are meant to participate and share in

Circle of Conflict and the Triangle of Satisfaction Models
Introduction
This paper will discuss two different conflict models and how they may be used to diagnose a
particular conflict. Each model will be described in a way, which better helps understand the conflict.
Potential confidentiality issues within the conflict will be described as well. Both the Circle of
Conflict and the Triangle of Satisfaction Models are both effective tools at assisting a practitioner at
diagnosing and resolving conflict.
Circle of Conflict model The Circle of Conflict model is the simplest method of figuring out the root
cause of a conflict. The circle implements five possible drivers of conflict that are values,
relationships, externals/moods, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Carolyn and Nick would work around the supervisor Nick would accept Carolyn s decisions,
Carolyn believes he did this because his supervisor was around and he wanted to appear as though he
was a team player. The night that Carolyn was asked to be shift lead, not just by her co workers but
also by Nick, Carolyn thought that she would be making the final decision and be supported by Nick
and her fellow co workers. Carolyn and Nicks relationship has been deteriorating and was now to the
point that both asked to be placed on different shifts. The relationship between Carolyn and Nick had
progressed beyond workplace conflict and now negative personal feelings developed escalating the
conflict.
Externals/Moods
On the milieu, there has been change. The inconsistency and negative relationship between the two
staff members have allowed the residents to detect that there is not a leader and when there is no
leader, the resident s mood shifted to suspicion and distrust in the staff. The other co workers chose
not to get involved too much. Since there seems not to be a clear leader for the shift, a resident
becomes argumentative when bedtime is announced. The mood of the whole facility has shifted to
feelings of negativity creating an unsettling atmosphere not only for the staff members but for the
residents as well. Focus must be made on settling this negative mood within the facility or the conflict

The Role Of Evil In Man s Search For Meaning
One of the biggest problems asked of religion is tied into the existence of evil, pain and suffering. The
question of: If God is good, then why is there evil? is often asked of the major world religions,
including the two monotheistic religions Judaism and Christianity. In the book of Isaiah, verse 45:7 in
the Bible it gives us some insight to the question, stating: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD
do all these things and in Judaism, Victor Frankl, In Man s Search for Meaning, notes that: Suffering
is an ineradicable part of life . As well as Christianity, God has made us in his image (Genesis 1:27),
allowing us to have the choice to do evil. But why would God allow or even create evil when he, the
creator has almighty power? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And without choice, we would be incapable of a real love relationship. God didn t want this, as the
Bible says God desires a real love relationship with his creation. Love is not real unless we have the
ability to not love. God knew that by giving us free will, there would be much evil, as choosing not to
love him is evil by definition. This idea that evil is a side effect of love is shown in the book of Isaiah,
verse 45:7, I make peace and create evil . The ability of free will serves the purpose of having the
chance to establish real love relationships between us and God, and evil will be done away after that
purpose is achieved, And the world passes away and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God
abides forever (1 John 2:17). This gift of free will is extremely important as it gives the choice for us
to choose what we want to believe and if we choose to believe God this creates a real love relationship
between us and

A New Medical Dram Marcus Welby Essay
In 1969 the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) aired a new medical drama called Marcus
Welby, M.D. The title character was a Primary Care Physician (PCP) who made house calls, had a
kind bedside manner, and was on a first name basis with most of his patients. The drama highlighted
the meaning of caring for the whole person, not just a specific part of the body. Unfortunately those
days are gone, just when we need them the most. It is projected that the demand for PCP s will rapidly
increase due to an aging population and health care reform, leaving a shortage of over 20,000
physicians by the year 2020 ( Projecting the Supply, 2013).
A healthy primary care base is critical to the running of an effective health care system. People who
have access to PCP s are more likely to receive preventive and timely care for medical conditions.
Having a PCP is also associated with fewer emergency department visits and fewer hospital
admissions (Abrams, Nuzum, Mika, Lawlor, 2011). Developed countries have made primary care the
foundation of their healthcare system. The U.S. followed this model until 1949, and since that time
PCP s have been steadily declining (Shi Singh, 2015). A study by West and Dupras in 2012 showed
that only 21.5 percent of third year internal medicine residents intended to continue on and make
general internal medicine their career (Shi Singh, 2015). Today, most medical school graduates are
entering specialties such as anesthesia, cardiology and

Comparing The Birth Stories Of Matthew And Luke
The profound birth narratives of Matthew and Luke clearly, and immediately, place Jesus as the Son of
God. Both authors leave no room for doubt among readers that God orchestrates the birth of Jesus
Christ. The basic premise within the narratives is also similar; Jesus is born in Bethlehem to the Virgin
Mary, wife of Joseph. Soon after his birth, Jesus receives visitors who affirm his significance. The
surety of Jesus divinity is established by God s usage of visions and angels in guiding the characters
involved in the birth narratives. Jesus birth is repeatedly portrayed to be fulfilling the prophecies of the
Old Testament. However, even though the narratives strongly emphasize Jesus sanctity, their
underlying premise is quite peculiar for God s arrival on Earth. Instead of an entry into the world
signified by grand celebrations and commemoration, the birth of Jesus occurs in an intimate setting.
God plays a prominent role in birth narratives of Matthew and Luke. God s presence ensures that
Joseph and Mary know how truly momentous the coming birth is. An angel appears to Joseph or
Mary, depending on the Gospel, before Jesus birth and declare what is to come (New Revised
Standard Version, Matthew.1.20; Luke 1.30). God s messages provide contextualization of Jesus ...

This process helps substantiate the claim of Jesus being the Messiah, foretold in the Old Testament. In
both Gospels, Jesus lineage goes back to King David (Matthew. 1.6; Luke. 2.4). Jesus is born in
Bethlehem, a town of great prophetic importance (Matthew. 2.5 2.6; Luke. 2.4). Another key element
is the virgin birth of Jesus (Matthew. 1.23; Luke. 1.27). The birth to a virgin in the town of Bethlehem
with linage back to King David is evidence for Jesus being the Messiah. Another geographic similarity
is that Joseph, Mary, and the child settle in

Women In The Military Draft
In the midst of debating whether or not to reinstate the draft, the question of whether the women
should be included in the draft is up in the air. In my personal opinion, I believe that women should be
included in the draft, since we re all considered equal. Opponents of women being in the military
might argue that women might have to leave a family behind or they are not physically fit. In other
countries, women are drafted into the military right after they are finish with schooling.
One reason why I believe women should be drafted is because equality. One in five new military
recruits are women, men are still singled out and are required to register with the Selective Service for
a possible future draft. Women and men have served on combat

Construction Supervision Role in Construction Projects
Abstract: With the development of the city construction, the investment in construction is increasingly
expanding. However, the construction is large scale and the number of construction project still under
construction is amazing. The projects quality problems have taken place on a national scale with some
extent of the damage. In order to ensure the construction projects went well, it is necessary to strictly

As the name suggests, construction supervision is to supervise construction projects based on the
construction contracts and supervision contract. Its duty is to perform the duty of supervision in

Biofuels are better than traditional fuels because they decrease the national dependency on foreign
fuel. The Minnesota biofuel association provides the article ETHANOL AND REDUCING FOREIGN
OIL DEPENDENCY expressing how the dependency of fuels decrease due to biofuels. ethanol has
helped America lessen its dependency on foreign oil. In fact, increased production of renewable fuels
such as ethanol were key components of the Energy (1). Biofuel contains materials that are found

go underground or under the sea to find fuels. It would also decrease the dangers many people put
themselves through in order to find the fuel. Also the article what

Analysis Of James Joyce s Portrait Of The Artist As A...
In 19th and 20th century Ireland, the Catholic Church dominated the lives of many Irish citizens. The
Church played a role in every aspect of their lives including their personal lives, their political lives,
their education, and their work. Often people followed the Church for fear of what would happen if
they didn t follow. While for many, this control by the Catholic Church provided structure and stability
in their lives, for others it was a source of major struggle and inner conflict. James Joyce found the
Catholic Church s power to be both overwhelming and repressive. In his Portrait of the Artist as a
Young Man, we see his inner struggle portrayed through the main character Stephen Dedalus. Like

James Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is commonly considered a reflection of Joyce s
own life and struggles that he faced with and against the Catholic Church. As Stephen Dedalus does in
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Joyce fluctuated between agreeing with and rejecting the
Church. He was raised by Catholic parents and attended Catholic schools throughout his life. As is
common for children before they re able to make their own choices and think for themselves, Joyce
merely followed the religious example that his family and society had set for him. So why did Joyce
ultimately reject the Catholic Church? As researched by Jeffrey Hibbert, The weakening of the Church
s temporal powers was met by tightening its political control over local churches and its ideological
control over dogma. Between the 1830s and the 1890s, the Church grew increasingly conservative and
intolerant of liberalism, democracy and modernity (199). The church wasn t allowing Joyce to express
his creativity and become who he wanted to be. It was becoming increasingly controlling and limited
his creative abilities. Joyce s attitude towards the Catholic Church were structured by the 3 A s:
alienation, anger, and apathy (Lernout 8).
In a letter to his wife that was written in 1904, Joyce claimed to have left the Church six years earlier,
at which time he would have been about 14 years old. In the

Solutions for Poor Contries in Bottom Billion by Paul Collier
The Bottom Billion by Paul Collier discusses why the poorest countries are failing and then offers
some insights and solutions to the problem. He says the four major problems in developing nations
are: conflict, natural resources, bad neighbors, and bad governments. The conflicts are usually civil
wars which have huge costs and the situation just becomes worse the longer the conflicts drag on.
Collier states that countries rich in natural resources are often worse off than countries that are not, he
attributes this problem to several different factors. One of the factors is that the resources open the
possibility for conflict over the resources. Another factor is that if a country strictly focuses it s on a
specific natural resource then the other resources and industries might get forgotten and lose value.
Being landlocked with bad neighbors can also be a large problem because it makes it almost
impossible to be a part of world trade, so these landlocked countries have to depend on their neighbors
for most of the trade and materials. A bad government can also be very destructive to a country s
economy, if they create unreasonable and restrictive policies. The smaller countries are also at a
disadvantage because it is hard for them to get any investors, because the investors would much rather
invest in well known countries like India or China. After Collier stated all the problems he also offered
up some possible solutions. He believed that aid agencies should concentrate

Anatomy And Physiology That Affect Snakes
Snakes tend to differ significantly from other terrestrial vertebrates due to their lack of any
appendages. Although such a characteristic would appear to be of a significant disadvantage on land,
snakes have managed to secure themselves a variety of niches and adaptations. The elongated body
gave many snakes the ability to strangle their prey and easily inhabit aquatic and nonaquatic
environments alike. Some snakes have also been able to climb trees and managed to out speed or
compete with animals with limbs. The specific locomotion of snakes can thus be a potentially
important indicator of ecological differences between species [7]. Understanding the ways that snakes
move helps us understand the types of factors responsible for their form, while giving insight into
inventing machines and instruments that can use this motion for everyday use. This paper will look at
the specifics and varieties of snake locomotion, while touching on some of the factors like anatomy
and physiology that affect snakes survival. Understanding the origins of snakes and their iconic
locomotion have been previously poorly understood [1]. Accurate conclusions about the development
of the snakes elongated, legless shape [were] hindered by the relative lack of informative fossils of
early stem snakes [1]. Despite this, questions concerning the origin of their anatomy are usually
narrowed down to two different environmental influences: either 1) aquatic life or 2) fossorial life.

Consequences Of Antecedent Analysis
An antecedent is a thing or event that existed before. In healthcare, an antecedent refers to an
occurrence that precedes an event. Without the antecedents, caregivers will not be able to provide

Essay on The Cause of the Economic Boom in the 1920 s
The Cause of the Economic Boom in the 1920 s
By the end of the First World War America was regarded as the most powerful and richest country in
the world. In the 1920´s the United States economy was booming. This was a period of prosperity,
when the country s economy was doing well and some of the people were sharing in it. A long term
cause of the American boom in the 1920´s was America s natural advantage and regional diversity.
The South was mainly used for farming but also had large amounts of oil. The North of America and
the East Coast were the richest parts of America because there was lots of industry, business and many

America was only able to do all these things as the country was rich and full of resources. America did
not suffer any damages in the war (apart from loss of military lives) whereas it s business rivals such
as Britain suffered hugely. There was a huge rise in production at this time. There were many
important short term causes as well as the obvious long term cause and turning point that contributed
to the boom. One short term reason for the boom was the policy of the Republican Party. From 1920
to 1932 all the US presidents were Republican. Republicans believed that the government should
interfere as little as possible in the everyday lives of the people. When the Republicans came to power
they introduced tariffs, this made it expensive to buy foreign goods. The tariffs protected US
businesses from competition. The Republicans kept taxation as low because of this everybody had
more money and they would buy American goods (because they were cheaper) or invest it in the
American economy. The Republican attitude was to interfere as little as possible in business and let
people handle it the way they saw fit, the result of this was a richer and happier America for about
60% of the people.
Another short term reason for the boom was the emergence of new industries in America. Americans
loved new products such as the automobile, by 1929 millions of people owned cars. A

Think of this in general as X/Y. So, the money market formula is, in general, (X interest rate Y interest
rate) / (1. + Y interest rate) or, in shorthand, (X Y) /(1 + Y) So if you were using a yen/dollar quote for
the exchange rate, you would have yen rate minus dollar rate divided by one plus dollar rate. Note that
none of this really solves Dozier s problem; but there is a theory that in well functioning markets, the
results from the two formulas should be equal. In other words, it shouldn t make a difference whether
you hedge in the forward market or in the money market. However this theory is based on comparing
apples to apples. Here the apples are the financial instruments whose interest rates we are comparing.
Our interest rate calculation is based on the cost of a UK bank loan to Dozier compared to rate on a
bank CD. The theory works a bit better if you use the Eurodollar rate and the Europound rate in
Exhibit 4, but even these are not precisely similar instruments. However, there is another use for the
formulas. Banks use them in pricing forward contracts! Suppose that we set the two formulas equal to
each other and do some rearrangements using my X/Y approach to stay general and to remind us what
we are doing. We can get the following result, solving for the forward rate: Forward rate = Spot rate x
(1 + X interest rate) / (1 + Y interest rate) Remember the rule is X over Y. When

Forces Soldiers must incorporate into their mission planning and execution for the greatest chance at
mission success. The Ugly American is a fictional book first published in 1958 that offers an insight to
American arrogance, incompetence, and corruption, but bears a remarkable resemblance of how
America stills thinks and functions abroad today. The book portrays characters serving as foreign
dignitaries in Southeast Asia whom, for the most part, were grossly ineffective in their duties. A
number of these characters served in key positions that could have made a difference in the struggle
with communism had they incorporated the SOF ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This understanding and pre planning is something that we do during a Pre Deployment Site Survey
(PDSS). From personal experience, I admit that detachments that I have served on weren t as prepared
as Finian. Our PDSS has returned to the detachment with questions left unanswered and I attribute that
to a lack of prior understanding of the environment. If prior research is not conducted to understand
the full spectrum, there is no way that a thorough site survey can occur. This can lead to an ill prepared
deployment and risk damaging rapport with the host nation. Another imperative that Father Finian
displayed was his ability to ensure legitimacy and credibility with the local population. He did so not
by showing up as the educated, knowledgeable, and powerful American, but by making himself a peer
amongst the locals. Finian knew there were three things that had to happen rather quickly: Find a
courageous Catholic, learn the local language, and build an immunity to the local cuisine and water.
Finding another Catholic is an obvious must; however, learning the local language and eating the local
fare is an imperative that Americans are doing less of as the years go by. Learning the language and
eating the food should be an obvious necessity but that s not the case. Some Americans have the
arrogance that English is the superior language of the world and that others should strive to learn it. I
say this because one of those Americans

Environmental Conservation Of The World War II
Environmental conservation has made major advancements throughout history. While its focus during
the 1940s was very limited due to World War II, the effects of the war and industrialization led to the
environmental deterioration and many significant events that increased the public s attention on
pollution. While many minor policies were passed as a way to appease the people, the major shift for
environmentalism was during the 1960s after many pieces of writing were published that exposed the
harmful effects of pollution and toxins that were contaminating the earth. The public s outrage toward
the government s lack of involvement led to major legislations to be passed and a noticeable shift in
importance to the government. While environmental policies were generally weak and unable to be
consistently enforced from 1940 2000, a series of focused legislative acts led to a change in the
standardization of working conditions through safety and health regulations and accountability of
nationally funded programs on conservation of the environment.
One change that occurred in regards to environmental policies in the United States in the past 80 years
was the creation of the National Environmental Policy Act which required increased government
regulation and involvement in their impact on the environment, and chapter 27 of the North American
Free Trade Agreement. The 1960s was an important era for the environment because it was marked
with increasing public concern for the

Why Is Hector Inevitable
The death of Hector was inevitable. After Agamemnon insulting Achilles by having his men take
Achilles prize award (King Priam s daughter), Achilles contemplated if he should take revenge on the
topic but sat on the shore line instead to think it over. While Achilles is deciding whether to destroy
Agamemnon and his people the Trojans attack the Greeks and kill a lot of Achilles men. This was a
time I thought to myself that there was no way Achilles was going to sit back and do nothing about the
deaths of his men. After Agamemnon discovers his idea to attack Achilles people is not worth it, he
begs Achilles to participate in the war so he can kill him off himself. Led by Hector, son of Priam, the
Trojans still decide to fight after Achilles denies the invitation. Patroclus, Achilles good friend,
decides to fight the Trojans but in place of Achilles, so he wears the armor designated for Achilles. ...

Though some may call him cruel and incapable of feelings sadness, I find that his defense against
Hector to resemble his heart that he had for his friend Patroclus. The Goddess Athena pretends to be
Hector s brother to encourage Hector to fight Achilles and stop standing behind the wall. I think this is
a very important aspect in the tale because without Athena pretending to be Deiphobus, Hector might
not have even fought him. After defeating Hector, Achilles showed no sign of remorse and took the
body into the town to show his victory off. Even though readers can feel the fear that came from
Hector as he was slowly dying, Achilles gave no mercy because he was fighting for his people which
makes him a hero in my book. Others might say Achilles is a bad person for not allowing the body of
Hector to go back to his family, but in those times the the main purpose of ending a war was to
exchange the bodies to gloat over their success. In my mind, if Hector were to kill Achilles he would
have not shown him any mercy

Francis Bacon s Portrait Of Pope Innocent X
Francis Bacon was an Irish born English artist known for his raw, controversial and emotionally
charged works (Gale, Tate Gallery) often referred to as the enfant terrible of British art (Schama, 7) .
Many of his works, including Study After Velazquez s Portrait of Pope Innocent X, are palimpsest
using a variety of different images to create his own original works. Study After Velazquez s Portrait
of Pope Innocent X is part of the loose series of screaming popes (Sylvester, 40) of which there are
approximately 45 surviving works (Schmied, 17) completed during the 50 s and early 60 s. The series
was not only inspired by Spanish Baroque artist Diego Velazquez s Portrait of the Pope Innocent X, a
painting which Bacon had many copies of but famously avoided seeing in person (Phaidon) The truth
behind Francis Bacon s screaming popes) but also medical textbooks, works by the German
Renaissance painter Matthias Grünewald (Schmeid, 53) and the screaming nurse on the Odessa Steps
sequence in Soviet film director Sergei Eisenstein s 1925 silent film Броненосец Потемкин [The
Battleship Potemkin] (Peppiatt, 43). In the image we see the Pope Innocent X, a powerful authority
figure in the Catholic church. He is the liaison between the Lord and his son Jesus Christ and earth, he
is essentially all powerful in his own domain, Vatican City and Catholics around the world. He is
respected and his position is something that the Cardinals strive to become. However, Bacon depicts

John Foster s Celebration Of Discipline
Celebration of Discipline In this chapter of Celebration of Discipline, Foster expands on the idea of
service within Christianity. Toward the beginning of the chapter Foster brings to light what self
righteous service versus true service looks like. Overall self righteous service seeks to please ones self
and desires, not the person they should be serving. Another main point that is brought up is the
relationship between humility and service. Foster says, Service is the most conductive to the growth of
humility. Humility is not something to be focused on, but something that comes when we engage in
true service. The chapter then goes on the list all the different ways to serve including the service of
small things, guarding the reputation of others, common courtesy, hospitality, listening, bearing
burdens, and sharing the word of Life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Foster talks about the service of hospitality. I believe this is something we do in our home and it has
been such a blessing to my family. Our want to be hospitable to people who are traveling or need a
place to stay has been an incredible experience. It was not something we really thought about doing
because it was an act of service, but more of a gifting I believe God has given our family to be able to

methodology of fulfilling the Great commission have changed. The Great Commission, found in
Matthew 28:16 20 contain Jesus final words to His disciples. He told them, Therefore, go and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with

the nations being people groups. I always thought of them as geo political divisions. I can actually

Why Cheating Is Wrong
Would you believe that 80 to 95 percent of high school students admit to cheating at least one time in
the past year? (2nd source). Students use many tactics for cheating because they do not understand the
subject, or they stress the need to be successful. I believe, because of transformation of cheating and
lack of disciplinary consequences, cheating has become more prevalent in schools in our society. The
first idea to understand about cheating is the many forms of how they are carried out. As technology
has grown and evolved to what it is today, it has opened many more ways of cheating to occur and
causes the temptation to be much easier to pursue. But first, there is the most basic form of cheating
that we all know and it is by simply looking off another student s paper. Whether it would be for
homework or a test, it is more commonly used to copy for a test. Next, students may get together and
have one person to one half of the homework while the other does the other half, then they both
exchange papers and copy each others answers. Through the wonderful world of technology, cheating
and plagiarizing is very easy to encounter, even without us realizing it. Students use Internet sources
to look up answers for school work and use those answers as their own. What they fail to do is
properly source their information. When this happens, they do not give credit to the information
source, and it could cost the student a zero for the schoolwork, in the class, or worse they get

Classical Conditioning And Observational Learning Analysis
Internet Activity #8
Each of us learn in different ways. I for one am a hands on learner. I learn best by getting my hands on
things and seeing how things work. I am not very good at learning things by simply reading a book
and taking a test. Although most of my schooling is just that. Many things influence our learning as
well, such as environmental. These can include reinforcements, observations, associations, and
punishment. Some of the primary learning theories I will discuss will be classical conditioning,
operant conditioning and observational learning. First I will discuss classical conditioning. Classical
conditioning was first discovered by Ivan Pavlov. But first let me explain what classical conditioning
is. The learning takes place when an association is formed between a previously neutral stimulus and a
naturally occurring stimulus, according to Pavlov. He first noticed this in his experiments on the
digestive system of dogs. The dogs began to salivate whenever the dogs saw the white coats he was
wearing, prior to being fed. He paired the natural stimulus of food with the sound of a bell. Then the
dogs would naturally salivate in response to food. Then after several associations, the dogs would
salivate to the sound of the bell. So this is how classical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was first discovered by a psychologist by the name of B.F. Skinner. He was more interested in
learning how the consequences of actions influenced behavior. This is similar to classical conditioning
because it relies on forming associations. In operant conditioning associations are made between a
behavior and the consequences of that behavior. According to Skinner, when a behavior leads to a
desirable consequence, it becomes more likely that the behavior will be repeated again in the future.
When the action is negative than the outcome is likely to occur. This is how operant condition became
about and who discovered it. Next is observational

Groan Group Observation
Through the observation, I hardly saw any progression through the Groan Zone and I assume that is
because this group has been meeting once a week for about 10 years and while they may face
misunderstanding or miscommunication they have worked though enough of it that they have a solid
foundation of shared understanding and the collective thought processes of their teammates. The
group did in fact progress through the Divergent and Convergent Zones. At some points, they seemed
to work through both zones at the same time. For example, while generating a list of ideas they made
sure to summarize the key points of their ideas. After this step they not only looked for the conflicting
issues between their ideas but they could come to agreement on which brainstormed ideas would work
and which ones were forgettable. Finally, the last point that they processed through was exercising
judgment. This process was interesting to observe. First off, it was difficult to observe and not
comment on their ideas and secondly, I could notice the sensitivity when giving the judgment. No one
wanted to sound harsh when giving their feedback. Which I found was a smart option since they work
together daily. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Federalist And Anti Federalist
The Anti Federalist put up a long and hard fight, however, they were not as organized as the
Federalists. While the Anti Federalist had great concerns about the Constitution and National
government, the Federalist had good responses to combat these concerns. The Federalist were and for
the Constitution and feel the Article of Confederation were not worth ratifying, these should be
scrapped altogether. They felt that the Articles limited the power of congress, because congress had to
request cooperation from the states. Unlike the Anti Federalist, the Federalist organized quickly, had
ratifying conventions, and wrote the Federalist papers to rebut the Anti Federalist arguments.
An example of this is the Anti Federalist concerns about a republican government not working on a
scale this large or diverse. Like the Roman empire, whose government was based on the idea on
classical republicanism, they believed it would fall and turn into a monarchy in order to control its
people. The Federalist needed a theory to combat this argument so James Madison complied wrote in
Federalist 10 that factions were the great enemy of society. Madison defines a faction as a number of
citizens,... who united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the
rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community. Factions are
dangerous because there will be a majority faction and then a risk of tyranny will arise, because the

Reagan s Role During The Demise Of The Soviet Union
Reagan s Role in the Demise of the Soviet Union Entering into the 1980s, the Soviet system was
already in deep trouble. In order to match the US arms arsenal, it had put itself in a position, whereby
the Soviet economy was finding it difficult whether to first put bread on the table of a common
Russian or to match US in a tit for tat response. Though Gorbachev s intentions were to strike a deal
with the United States in order to put a halt to the arms race, which was straining the Soviet economy
at the seams; however, Reagan kept the pressure of the SDI or the Star Wars programme on the
Russians. He also encouraged Gorbachev to introduce more reforms, which resulted into Glasnost and
Perestroika. Reagan s famous speech at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my view, Gorbachev s trust on Reagan came to a point where he was ready to take the leap of faith
and that ensured a peaceful outcome of the cold war endgame. This all shows that how powerful
impact the Summits can have on the psyche of a leader of a nation. By the time Reagan had gone,
USSR unilaterally announced the cut in its defence arsenal in 1989, the Warsaw pact countries were
moving towards democratization and finally in December 1991 saw the final enactment of the
dissolution of the Soviet Union.

the Geneva summit was not a success, however it gave the opportunity to both the leaders to size each

next two meetings should be held in Washington and Moscow, Gorbachev forcefully demanded that a
substantial Arms Control agreement should be signed. However Reagan did not want to give the
impression that in order to have a meeting with Gorbachev, he had given concessions to him. Reagan
therefore, refused to commit on an arms control agreement in the following meeting. However in

How The Media Creates Beauty Standards And Shine A Light...
For many years, society has been told by the media that there a certain way that people should look.
We are shown that true beauty in what we see in the media and advertisements. They celebrities and
models in the media are beautiful, symmetric, flawless and perfect in all the right places. There is
something that society needs to realize. Society is being fooled. The beauty shown in media is not
realistic and it is not obtainable. For our public advocacy project, we want to dispel media s beauty
standards and shine a light on the truth. The truth is that the media creates beauty standards with the
use of Photoshop. Photoshop involves altering body features to be more appealing and beautiful. This
is done by the use of lighting, angles, computer techniques and props. In this reflection, we will
discuss the text and videos we analyzed, the problematic agenda of Photoshop, the media product we
developed, what social media we used to get our word out, the advantages and disadvantages of social
media, our goals and outcome and how we applied the Freire s Model to our project. A lot is done to
make people unrealistically beautiful, and our group would like to bring an end to the false idea of
beauty presented by the media with the use of Photoshop. Merriam Webster s dictionary defines
advocacy as the act or process of supporting a cause or proposal. As a group, we agreed with this
definition but also believe it was more than just supporting the idea; it was

Habits of Mind Application in Learning the Plant Life Cycle
Habits of Mind: Application in Learning the Plant Life Cycle
The Habits of Mind is a learning and thinking framework in which both educators/teachers and
students would benefit when applied appropriately in learning opportunities and initiatives. This
framework is composed of sixteen (16) habits, which learners could use and emphasize in trying to
understand or learn a new concept or idea. These habits are noted as follows: (1) Persisting; (2)
Managing Impulsivity; (3) Thinking about your Thinking: Metacognition; (4) Remaining Open to
Continuous Learning; (5) Striving for Accuracy; (6) Listening with Understanding and Empathy; (7)
Thinking Flexibly; (8) Thinking Interdependently; (9) Questioning and Posing Problems; (10)
Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations; (11) Responding with Wonderment and Awe; (12)
Taking Responsible Risks; (13) Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision; (14)
Gathering Data through all the Senses; (15) Creating, Imagining, and Innovating; and (16) Finding
Humor (Costa and Kallick, 2012).

Fahrenheit 451 Critical Essay
Human beings are naturally curious. We are always in search of better ideas, and new solutions to
problems. One of a basic idea of Indonesia has been freedom of thinking and a free flow of ideas. But
in some societies, governments try to keep their people ignorant. Usually, this is so governments can
keep people under control and hold on to their power. In trying to keep people from the realities of the
world, these oppressive governments can end up damaging or even destroying their society.
The protagonist of Fahrenheit 451 is Guy Montag, who has spent his life in a state of ignorance, like
most people in his society. In fact, he works as a fireman, a feared member ... Show more content on

In the end, Montag and other exiles watch as the government destroys his city and others. They
become determined to rebuild their society, passing down wisdom to future generation. We learn this
when Montag and exile leader Granger are talking about the legend of the Phoenix, how the bird burns
everything but then it comes back. Except he realizes that they can be different from the Phoenix.
They can come back, but they can remember the mistakes that were made so they don t repeat them.
They won t remake society as it was they will make something new, where people can share ideas and
read books.
...It looks like we re doing the same thing over and over but we ve got one damn thing the phoenix
never have, Granger says. We know the damn silly thing we just did...sometimes we re stop making
the goddamn funeral pyres and jumping in the middle. We pick up a few more people that remember
every generation (Bradbury 25).
In reading Fahrenheit 451, we have learned there is a proper time to challenge the system.
Complacency and fear can lead to evil taking over. Ray Bradbury takes Montag through many
obstacles, some of which he brings on himself and others brought on by ineffectively doing nothing.
In this world, it is hard to get truth to reveal itself.
Montag is put in the position of verifying and searching for truth in the laws and following what his
heart is leading him to do. People all have a zeal and passion for life in some form or another. In our
society

Canada, A Premier Four- Season Tourism Destination
1 Destination Overview
Canada, a premier four season tourism destination (Canadian Tourism Commission, 2013), offers
incredible tourism experiences, therefore, Canada becomes one of the top ten countries in the world in
respect of tourist arrivals, tourist spenders and tourist receipts (Jayawardena, 2003) Travel deficits
grew in Canada yearly from $ 2 billion in 2001 to $17.8 billion in 2012 (see Table1); however, it
results in decline to $1.4 billion in 2010 due to Winter Olympic (Deloitte, 2013).
Table 1: Canadian Travel Deficit 2001 2012 Source: Statistics Canada, Deloitte Passport to Growth
1.1. Role of Tourism in Canada s Economy
Tourism industry ranging from small and medium enterprises in a single location to large businesses,
major economic driver (CTC, 2014), contributes Canada in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
and Employment (WTTC, 2015). In 2013, it creates over 618,000 employment opportunities and over
170,000 tourism businesses generating $84 billion in tourism revenue as well as $33billion to GDP.
Therefore, tourism is seen as Canada s No 1 service export sector (CTC, 2014).
1.2. Tourists Arrivals to Canada
In 2013, international overnight travellers from the United States (US) and other markets reached 16.6
million in Canada (see Table 2), which grew 2% over 2012 according to increase in visitation from
Asia. There is 2.9% growth reaching 2.56 million travellers from Canadian Tourism Commission
(CTC) s ten leisure tourism markets and emerging

All People Are Good At Heart
According to Anne Frank, all people are good at heart. But is that really true? Well, the truth is, that
not all people are good at heart. Furthermore, The people anne was referring to as good at heart were
the individuals responsible for the mass murder of the innocent Jewish people. Additionally, The Jews
were forced out of their homes, had their businesses taken away, etc. for no valid reason except for
their religion. And finally If everyone was good at heart, than the fighting and bickering occuring in
the Annex, wouldn t have come about.
The persons anne was referring to as good at heart were the ones responsible for the mass murder of
the innocent Jewish people. In a quote from the Diary of Anne Frank play, it states, Dussel: ... Show

This point is often overlooked because it is less severe than the other too, but it is still very important
and notable to why annes quote is wrong. A quote form the play says Peter: Father says he is going to
sell her fur coat. She s crazy about that old coat. To elaborate on this quote, The people in the annex
are not acting good at heart in this situation. Mr. Van Daan is trying to sell Mrs Van daan s coat for
cigarettes and he know that the coat means a lot to her. If Mr Van Daan was good at heart, he would
consider his wife s feelings and wouldn t sell the coat. He already took all of Mrs. Van Daans other
valuables and now he s trying to sell something given to her by her dead grandfather. To add on to my
point, this next quote states, Dussel: Thanks to this clumsy fool there is now someone who knows we
are up here! In this quote, Mr Dussel blames the loud noise on peter. Peter did do it, but it wasn t
necessary to call him out for it. If he was good at heart he wouldn t have done this and just tried to
address the situation. This quote makes Mr. Dussel look like a jerk even though he is actually nice.
This is all because of World War 2 occuring in the background. My third and final quote says, Dussel:
Every night she twists and turns. I don t sleep.I spend half my night shushing her. And now its
nightmares! The quote

  • 2. Sci Fi And Fantasy Stories Philosophers And Physicists Time is a complex topic. One that only seems to be tackled by the authors of Sci Fi and Fantasy stories philosophers and physicists. Whether it s a book, movie, or show we seem to only be able to talk and theorize about time in the abstract. Though this idea is less prevalent in the Harry Potter series, it is still important and raises a lot of questions. Is time simply the ticking hands on the clock or is it more complicated than that? We go through life talking about time as if it s a simple idea: there is a cause. which creates an effect and this continues in a never ending cycle. What if it s not that simple? If we are working under the belief that time travel is possible, then it would have to be a little bit more complicated than that. • 3. Evaluation Of The Current Liquidity Management Essay Executive Summary This report provides analysis of the current liquidity management in banks. Methods of evaluation include peer, trend and horizontal analysis such as ratios, principle and regulations. In the first part, we analyze the differences between liability liquidity management and asset liquidity management and explore the features an effective liquidity management system should possess. Then we compare liquidity ratios of four banks in Australia to examine their performance on liquidity management according to line charts. Finally, Liquidity Coverage Ratio and Net Stable Funding ratio are introduced, how they improve mutually. Management of liquidity risk The financial institutions have obligations to fulfill depositors requirement of withdrawing deposits. In addition, they need sufficient funds to invest projects and issue loans to make profit, which maintains a normal operation. Trade off exists between liquidity risk and profit. The ideal position is to earn high profit while minimum risks. As a result, liquidity management is important for the financial institutions to avoid risks of default. Cash is the core in the operation of banks. However, the retained earnings and capital can be difficult to meet day to day expenses and the demand of cash from depositors. If the banks cannot raise additional funds or convert asset into cash immediately to meet their obligations, it can lead to losses or default. This is the occasion on which the priest distributes bread and wine. This is one is of the seven Sacraments. A Sacrament is a physical act with a spiritual meaning. It takes the form of a ceremony intended to reveal and to give a greater sense of closeness to God. The spiritual meaning of Holy Communion is togetherness with God and each other. During Holy Communion the priest takes the bread and wine, gives thanks to God, breaks the bread and then gives them to the worshipers. This is known as the Fourfold Eucharistic actions. This serves the purpose of remembering the Last Supper and also brings a feeling of closeness with God, Jesus and each other. It will also remind Christians of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Holy Communion has four main meanings. The first is remembrance. Holy Communion commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Corinthians 11:23 25 writes that Jesus took and broke the bread, referred to it as his body and said, Do this in remembrance of me. Similarly after the supper he took a cup and referred to it as, the new covenant in my blood and said, Do this whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. The second is participation. Jesus did more than just take and break the bread and take and pour the wine. He gave these things to the disciples to eat, thus he was involving them in the last supper. So today the Last supper is more than just a commemoration, where we remember a past event, it is a communion in which we participate in the remembrance and share in its benefits. The apostle Paul wrote: is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? • 6. The Role Of Evil In Man s Search For Meaning One of the biggest problems asked of religion is tied into the existence of evil, pain and suffering. The question of: If God is good, then why is there evil? is often asked of the major world religions, including the two monotheistic religions Judaism and Christianity. In the book of Isaiah, verse 45:7 in the Bible it gives us some insight to the question, stating: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things and in Judaism, Victor Frankl, In Man s Search for Meaning, notes that: Suffering is an ineradicable part of life . This idea that evil is a side effect of love is shown in the book of Isaiah, verse 45:7, I make peace and create evil . The ability of free will serves the purpose of having the chance to establish real love relationships between us and God, and evil will be done away after that purpose is achieved, And the world passes away and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever (1 John 2:17). • 7. A New Medical Dram Marcus Welby Essay In 1969 the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) aired a new medical drama called Marcus Welby, M.D. The title character was a Primary Care Physician (PCP) who made house calls, had a kind bedside manner, and was on a first name basis with most of his patients. The drama highlighted the meaning of caring for the whole person, not just a specific part of the body. Unfortunately those days are gone, just when we need them the most. It is projected that the demand for PCP s will rapidly increase due to an aging population and health care reform, leaving a shortage of over 20,000 physicians by the year 2020 ( Projecting the Supply, 2013). A healthy primary care base is critical to the running of an effective health care system. People who have access to PCP s are more likely to receive preventive and timely care for medical conditions. Having a PCP is also associated with fewer emergency department visits and fewer hospital admissions (Abrams, Nuzum, Mika, Lawlor, 2011). Developed countries have made primary care the foundation of their healthcare system. The U.S. followed this model until 1949, and since that time PCP s have been steadily declining (Shi Singh, 2015). A study by West and Dupras in 2012 showed that only 21.5 percent of third year internal medicine residents intended to continue on and make general internal medicine their career (Shi Singh, 2015). • 8. Comparing The Birth Stories Of Matthew And Luke The profound birth narratives of Matthew and Luke clearly, and immediately, place Jesus as the Son of God. Both authors leave no room for doubt among readers that God orchestrates the birth of Jesus Christ. The basic premise within the narratives is also similar; Jesus is born in Bethlehem to the Virgin Mary, wife of Joseph. Soon after his birth, Jesus receives visitors who affirm his significance. The surety of Jesus divinity is established by God s usage of visions and angels in guiding the characters involved in the birth narratives. Jesus birth is repeatedly portrayed to be fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament. However, even though the narratives strongly emphasize Jesus sanctity, their underlying premise is quite peculiar for God s arrival on Earth. Instead of an entry into the world signified by grand celebrations and commemoration, the birth of Jesus occurs in an intimate setting. God plays a prominent role in birth narratives of Matthew and Luke. God s presence ensures that Joseph and Mary know how truly momentous the coming birth is. Often people followed the Church for fear of what would happen if they didn t follow. While for many, this control by the Catholic Church provided structure and stability in their lives, for others it was a source of major struggle and inner conflict. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is commonly considered a reflection of Joyce s own life and struggles that he faced with and against the Catholic Church. As Stephen Dedalus does in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Joyce fluctuated between agreeing with and rejecting the Church. He was raised by Catholic parents and attended Catholic schools throughout his life. As is common for children before they re able to make their own choices and think for themselves, Joyce merely followed the religious example that his family and society had set for him. So why did Joyce ultimately reject the Catholic Church? As researched by Jeffrey Hibbert, The weakening of the Church s temporal powers was met by tightening its political control over local churches and its ideological control over dogma. Between the 1830s and the 1890s, the Church grew increasingly conservative and intolerant of liberalism, democracy and modernity (199). The church wasn t allowing Joyce to express his creativity and become who he wanted to be. It was becoming increasingly controlling and limited his creative abilities. Joyce s attitude towards the Catholic Church were structured by the 3 A s: alienation, anger, and apathy (Lernout 8). Solutions for Poor Contries in Bottom Billion by Paul Collier The Bottom Billion by Paul Collier discusses why the poorest countries are failing and then offers some insights and solutions to the problem. He says the four major problems in developing nations are: conflict, natural resources, bad neighbors, and bad governments. The conflicts are usually civil wars which have huge costs and the situation just becomes worse the longer the conflicts drag on. Collier states that countries rich in natural resources are often worse off than countries that are not, he attributes this problem to several different factors. One of the factors is that the resources open the possibility for conflict over the resources. Another factor is that if a country strictly focuses it s on a specific natural resource then the other resources and industries might get forgotten and lose value. Being landlocked with bad neighbors can also be a large problem because it makes it almost impossible to be a part of world trade, so these landlocked countries have to depend on their neighbors for most of the trade and materials. A bad government can also be very destructive to a country s economy, if they create unreasonable and restrictive policies. The smaller countries are also at a disadvantage because it is hard for them to get any investors, because the investors would much rather invest in well known countries like India or China. After Collier stated all the problems he also offered up some possible solutions. He believed that aid agencies should concentrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although such a characteristic would appear to be of a significant disadvantage on land, snakes have managed to secure themselves a variety of niches and adaptations. The elongated body gave many snakes the ability to strangle their prey and easily inhabit aquatic and nonaquatic environments alike. Some snakes have also been able to climb trees and managed to out speed or compete with animals with limbs. The specific locomotion of snakes can thus be a potentially important indicator of ecological differences between species [7]. Understanding the ways that snakes move helps us understand the types of factors responsible for their form, while giving insight into inventing machines and instruments that can use this motion for everyday use. This paper will look at the specifics and varieties of snake locomotion, while touching on some of the factors like anatomy and physiology that affect snakes survival. Understanding the origins of snakes and their iconic locomotion have been previously poorly understood [1]. Accurate conclusions about the development of the snakes elongated, legless shape [were] hindered by the relative lack of informative fossils of early stem snakes [1]. Despite this, questions concerning the origin of their anatomy are usually narrowed down to two different environmental influences: either 1) aquatic life or 2) fossorial life. Both ... There were many important short term causes as well as the obvious long term cause and turning point that contributed to the boom. One short term reason for the boom was the policy of the Republican Party. From 1920 to 1932 all the US presidents were Republican. Republicans believed that the government should interfere as little as possible in the everyday lives of the people. When the Republicans came to power they introduced tariffs, this made it expensive to buy foreign goods. The tariffs protected US businesses from competition. The Republicans kept taxation as low because of this everybody had more money and they would buy American goods (because they were cheaper) or invest it in the American economy. The Republican attitude was to interfere as little as possible in business and let people handle it the way they saw fit, the result of this was a richer and happier America for about 60% of the people. Note that none of this really solves Dozier s problem; but there is a theory that in well functioning markets, the results from the two formulas should be equal. In other words, it shouldn t make a difference whether you hedge in the forward market or in the money market. However this theory is based on comparing apples to apples. Here the apples are the financial instruments whose interest rates we are comparing. Our interest rate calculation is based on the cost of a UK bank loan to Dozier compared to rate on a bank CD. After Agamemnon insulting Achilles by having his men take Achilles prize award (King Priam s daughter), Achilles contemplated if he should take revenge on the topic but sat on the shore line instead to think it over. While Achilles is deciding whether to destroy Agamemnon and his people the Trojans attack the Greeks and kill a lot of Achilles men. This was a time I thought to myself that there was no way Achilles was going to sit back and do nothing about the deaths of his men. After Agamemnon discovers his idea to attack Achilles people is not worth it, he begs Achilles to participate in the war so he can kill him off himself. Led by Hector, son of Priam, the Trojans still decide to fight after Achilles denies the invitation. Patroclus, Achilles good friend, decides to fight the Trojans but in place of Achilles, so he wears the armor designated for Achilles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though some may call him cruel and incapable of feelings sadness, I find that his defense against Hector to resemble his heart that he had for his friend Patroclus. The Goddess Athena pretends to be Hector s brother to encourage Hector to fight Achilles and stop standing behind the wall. I think this is a very important aspect in the tale because without Athena pretending to be Deiphobus, Hector might not have even fought him. After defeating Hector, Achilles showed no sign of remorse and took the body into the town to show his victory off. Even though readers can feel the fear that came from Hector as he was slowly dying, Achilles gave no mercy because he was fighting for his people which makes him a hero in my book. Others might say Achilles is a bad person for not allowing the body of Hector to go back to his family, but in those times the the main purpose of ending a war was to exchange the bodies to gloat over their success. • 25. Francis Bacon s Portrait Of Pope Innocent X Francis Bacon was an Irish born English artist known for his raw, controversial and emotionally charged works (Gale, Tate Gallery) often referred to as the enfant terrible of British art (Schama, 7) . Many of his works, including Study After Velazquez s Portrait of Pope Innocent X, are palimpsest using a variety of different images to create his own original works. Study After Velazquez s Portrait of Pope Innocent X is part of the loose series of screaming popes (Sylvester, 40) of which there are approximately 45 surviving works (Schmied, 17) completed during the 50 s and early 60 s. The series was not only inspired by Spanish Baroque artist Diego Velazquez s Portrait of the Pope Innocent X, a painting which Bacon had many copies of but famously avoided seeing in person (Phaidon) The truth behind Francis Bacon s screaming popes) but also medical textbooks, works by the German Renaissance painter Matthias Grünewald (Schmeid, 53) and the screaming nurse on the Odessa Steps sequence in Soviet film director Sergei Eisenstein s 1925 silent film Броненосец Потемкин [The Battleship Potemkin] (Peppiatt, 43). In the image we see the Pope Innocent X, a powerful authority figure in the Catholic church. He is the liaison between the Lord and his son Jesus Christ and earth, he is essentially all powerful in his own domain, Vatican City and Catholics around the world. • 26. John Foster s Celebration Of Discipline Celebration of Discipline In this chapter of Celebration of Discipline, Foster expands on the idea of service within Christianity. Toward the beginning of the chapter Foster brings to light what self righteous service versus true service looks like. Overall self righteous service seeks to please ones self and desires, not the person they should be serving. Another main point that is brought up is the relationship between humility and service. Foster says, Service is the most conductive to the growth of humility. Humility is not something to be focused on, but something that comes when we engage in true service. The chapter then goes on the list all the different ways to serve including the service of small things, guarding the reputation of others, common courtesy, hospitality, listening, bearing burdens, and sharing the word of Life. ... Another point that I connected with was when Foster talks about the service of hospitality. I believe this is something we do in our home and it has been such a blessing to my family. Our want to be hospitable to people who are traveling or need a place to stay has been an incredible experience. • 28. Why Cheating Is Wrong Would you believe that 80 to 95 percent of high school students admit to cheating at least one time in the past year? (2nd source). Students use many tactics for cheating because they do not understand the subject, or they stress the need to be successful. I believe, because of transformation of cheating and lack of disciplinary consequences, cheating has become more prevalent in schools in our society. The first idea to understand about cheating is the many forms of how they are carried out. As technology has grown and evolved to what it is today, it has opened many more ways of cheating to occur and causes the temptation to be much easier to pursue. But first, there is the most basic form of cheating that we all know and it is by simply looking off another student s paper. Whether it would be for homework or a test, it is more commonly used to copy for a test. Next, students may get together and have one person to one half of the homework while the other does the other half, then they both exchange papers and copy each others answers. Through the wonderful world of technology, cheating and plagiarizing is very easy to encounter, even without us realizing it. Students use Internet sources to look up answers for school work and use those answers as their own. What they fail to do is properly source their information. When this happens, they do not give credit to the information source, and it could cost the student a zero for the schoolwork, in the class, or worse they get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Classical Conditioning And Observational Learning Analysis Internet Activity #8 Each of us learn in different ways. I for one am a hands on learner. I learn best by getting my hands on things and seeing how things work. I am not very good at learning things by simply reading a book and taking a test. Although most of my schooling is just that. Many things influence our learning as well, such as environmental. These can include reinforcements, observations, associations, and punishment. Some of the primary learning theories I will discuss will be classical conditioning, operant conditioning and observational learning. First I will discuss classical conditioning. Classical conditioning was first discovered by Ivan Pavlov. But first let me explain what classical conditioning is. The learning takes place when an association is formed between a previously neutral stimulus and a naturally occurring stimulus, according to Pavlov. He first noticed this in his experiments on the digestive system of dogs. The dogs began to salivate whenever the dogs saw the white coats he was wearing, prior to being fed. He paired the natural stimulus of food with the sound of a bell. Then the dogs would naturally salivate in response to food. Then after several associations, the dogs would salivate to the sound of the bell. So this is how classical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was first discovered by a psychologist by the name of B.F. Skinner. He was more interested in learning how the consequences of actions influenced behavior. According to Skinner, when a behavior leads to a desirable consequence, it becomes more likely that the behavior will be repeated again in the future. When the action is negative than the outcome is likely to occur. This is how operant condition became about and who discovered it. Next is observational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The group did in fact progress through the Divergent and Convergent Zones. At some points, they seemed to work through both zones at the same time. For example, while generating a list of ideas they made sure to summarize the key points of their ideas. After this step they not only looked for the conflicting issues between their ideas but they could come to agreement on which brainstormed ideas would work and which ones were forgettable. Finally, the last point that they processed through was exercising judgment. This process was interesting to observe. First off, it was difficult to observe and not comment on their ideas and secondly, I could notice the sensitivity when giving the judgment. No one wanted to sound harsh when giving their feedback. While the Anti Federalist had great concerns about the Constitution and National government, the Federalist had good responses to combat these concerns. The Federalist were and for the Constitution and feel the Article of Confederation were not worth ratifying, these should be scrapped altogether. They felt that the Articles limited the power of congress, because congress had to request cooperation from the states. Unlike the Anti Federalist, the Federalist organized quickly, had ratifying conventions, and wrote the Federalist papers to rebut the Anti Federalist arguments. An example of this is the Anti Federalist concerns about a republican government not working on a scale this large or diverse. Like the Roman empire, whose government was based on the idea on classical republicanism, they believed it would fall and turn into a monarchy in order to control its people. The Federalist needed a theory to combat this argument so James Madison complied wrote in Federalist 10 that factions were the great enemy of society. There is something that society needs to realize. Society is being fooled. The beauty shown in media is not realistic and it is not obtainable. For our public advocacy project, we want to dispel media s beauty standards and shine a light on the truth. The truth is that the media creates beauty standards with the use of Photoshop. Photoshop involves altering body features to be more appealing and beautiful. This is done by the use of lighting, angles, computer techniques and props. • 44. All People Are Good At Heart According to Anne Frank, all people are good at heart. But is that really true? Well, the truth is, that not all people are good at heart. Furthermore, The people anne was referring to as good at heart were the individuals responsible for the mass murder of the innocent Jewish people. Peter did do it, but it wasn t necessary to call him out for it. If he was good at heart he wouldn t have done this and just tried to address the situation. This quote makes Mr. Dussel look like a jerk even though he is actually nice. This is all because of World War 2 occuring in the background. My third and final quote says, Dussel: Every night she twists and turns. I don t sleep.I spend half my night shushing her. And now its nightmares! The quote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
