Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

2. DEFINITION:
E-Learning Is the abbreviation for the
word internet-enabled learning. It is
actually an interactive learning system that
provides learners with information and
communication technologies. It relies on
an integrated digital electronic
environment that presents courses across
electronic networks, provides guidance
and organization of tests and manages
and evaluates resources and processes
3. IMPORTANCE:
O Increases the desire of learning and education.
O Expands the number of ways to access
education.
O Breaks the psychological barrier between the
teacher and the student.
O Break the barrier between the computer and the
learner.
O With the development of technology, it is
important to introduce learners to computers and
other devices...
4. ADVANTAGES:
OE-Learning has led to the emergence of new
patterns of learning and education.
OIt did entrench the concept of self-education.
OThe learner follows his learning according to
his ability and speed of learning when self-
learning.
OEducation depends then on computers and
networks, its applications include computer
learning, virtual classroom, and digital
collaboration which we will talk about further
later in this project.
5. ADVANTAGES:
O The content of the lessons given to the learner can
be found online.
O Sharing educational information between the
students will be way easier
O The learner has a faster feedback than when
learning from books.
O Learner accesses education to the appropriate
times.
6. ADVANTAGES:
O Receiving the educational information according to
the effort that the learner wishes to get.
O Be able to re-study the material and refer to it
electronically when needed.
O It is suited for all because it is effective and powerful.
O E-Learning made education easier for everyone
O Audio-Visuals in learning help remembering
information for a longer time.
O Lets the student be updated and in sync with modern
learners.
7. ADVANTAGES:
O E-Learning offers greater collaboration
and global opportunities to the learners.
O It is an advantage to those who feel
nervous and disconnected in groups. It
helps them learn without having to give up
to the comforts of the environment you are
at ease with
8. DISADVANTAGES:
O E-Learning needs modern equipment and a good
network.
O Adherence to the time of the lessons for the
presence of the learner and the teacher at the same
time
O In need of Cooling Systems (AC) because of the
heat that comes out of a computer. (a computer
turned on raises the temperature by 1°𝐶)
9. DISADVANTAGES:
The rapid development of international
standards, which requires many amendments
in the electronic decisions. Lack of sufficient
awareness of the members of society in this
type of education certificates obtained through
e-learning is not recognized by some official
bodies, privacy and confidentiality where there
is a penetration of the contents.
10. TYPES OF E-LEARNING:
It is classified as the presence of the learner and the
teacher at the same time or the absence of one of
them:
O Synchronous E-Learning: an on air or live broadcast
education that requires learners to be present at the
same time in front of their computers.
O Asynchronous E-Learning: an indirect education that
does not require learners to be educated at the
same time as the learner.
O Coeducation: used as simultaneous and
asynchronous uses.
11. TYPES OF E-LEARNING:
O Completely online: no vis-à-vis meetings
between the teacher and the learners and
meetings between learners themselves
O Mixed Learning: A blend of online and
direct communication
O Self-Study: There is no trace of a teacher
and the student learns all by himself.
O Audio Visual: such as virtual classroom.
12. INFORMATION SHARING:
When having an E-Education, sharing
information or lessons can be established
through a certain platform that shares this
information from one device to another within a
certain group of people. In this way, E-
Learning makes the process of sharing
information between learners possible and
easier than before. This process solved the
problem of not having the lessons required due
to absence to those courses.
13. CHARACTERISTICS OF E-
SCHOOL:
The curriculum is a mean rather than a goal. It
moves the center of the learning system from
teacher to learner, while continuously
developing programs. It is one of its objectives.
It achieves a teaching based on understanding
the characteristics of the students and taking
into consideration the differences of level
between them.
14. DIGITAL
COLLABORATIONS:
Digital collaborations is using digital
technologies for collaboration. Dramatically,
different from different from traditional
collaboration, it connects a broader network of
participants who can accomplish much more
than they would on their own because there
would be a different knowledge and easy
information sharing between the two
collaborators. And this could be done through
different ways such as:
15. E-MAIL:
It is a collaborative system through
electronic devices which is possible
because of a server where the
information is transferred from a device
to another such as: computers, tablets,
or smartphones…
Users create accounts and use E-mail
for work, studies and related topics.
16. SOCIAL MEDIA:
Social Media networks foster
collaborations as well as manage and
share knowledge between people and
interesting groups. Participation in these
networks builds trust among learners
which leads to open sharing of
information and knowledge.
EXAMPLES: Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram
17. WIKIS:
Wikis are websites that allow
collaborative modification of its content
and structure directly from the web
browser. It is good also for sharing such
educational information through them but
indirectly in a way that the learner won’t
know the reference/ the person that
uploaded the information.
