E- content (Electronic content) is digital content
that can be transmitted over a computer
network such as internet . It is the digital texts ,
audios, videos , images and animations with
visual effects.
E- content Authoring
• It means development of digital content using
special authoring tools . E- content authoring
is the process of writing the contents or
learning materials in any electronic format.
Materials that help in e-learning are called e-
content.
• Examples : Graphic design software, Video
editing software, Animation software,
Programming Language, etc.
Special features
• Technologically friendly
• Learner friendly for easy navigation
• Learner centric
• Teacher friendly
• It should include formative aswell as
summative evaluation. ( self evaluation)
Benefits of E-content
• It is valuable to the pupil and also helpful to
teacher of individual instructional system.
• E-content abolishes the disparity among the
learners
• It is enhancing the learner knowledge level
• Providing access to a wide range of resources
and materials.
• Providing a student centered learning
environment.
• Motivating students through appropriate use
of interactive courseware.
Steps in the preparation of e-content
1. Planning: selection of topic , format, content,
language, e-content authoring tools, learning
materials and media.
2. Analysing: Teacher analyses how to prepare e-
content material in easy way.
3. Organising: Collection of images, videos, audio
,pdf files and all other materials and arranging
them in a systematic manner.
4. Designing : Preparation of design for e- content

5. Developing : Production of e- content with
help of authoring tool.
i) Content development
ii) Story board development
iii) Course ware development
6. Implementing: It is installed on a server and
made accessible for learners.
7. Evaluating : E- content should be evaluated in
an appropriate way
Module preparation
• A module is a self contained self sufficient
unit of instruction for the learner to work on
for achieving a set of predetermined
objectives. A module contain 3 basic elements
of instruction
1. Develop short learning modules that actively
engage the learners
2. Include formative essesment
3. Use simple , widely available software
