INTRODUCTION
The curriculum is the sum total of all experience a student will get in and out of the school or
within the boundary of school and outside. Therefore, better instruction curriculum designs
were provided. Curriculum design is a term used to describe the purposeful, deliberate, and
systematic organization of curriculum within a class or course. It includes the instruction
objectives like Blooms taxonomy for better instructional learning, through that education were
progress. It helps to Identify the needs of students, create a clear list of learning goals and
outcomes, identify constraints, consider creating a curriculum map, Identify the instructional
methods, Establish evaluation methods.
In this modern world, technologies were given more importance in education. Therefore,
Curriculum were designed based on student centred curriculum. It combines the subject
content with technologies. For the Digital text and E-Contents were develops. It enhances the
students in technologies and virtual studies keeps them in the flow of live experience. Digital
text like digital textbooks, files and otherer sources were available with the help of online as
well as offline. E-Content provides the teacher to easy in teaching and virtual experience for
students. The term covers a wide set of applications and processes, such as web-based
learning, computer-based learning, virtual classrooms, and digital collaboration. Increased
preservation, reduced learning time are other benefits to students.

CURRICULUM DESIGN: DIGITAL TEXT AND E CONTENT
Curriculum is derived from the Latin word “currere” which means run or run-way or a
running course. Thus, curriculum means a course to be run for reaching a certain goal. The
curriculum is the sum total of all experience a student will get in and out of the school or within
the boundary of school and outside.
Cunningham, “curriculum is a tool in the hands of the artist (the teacher) to mould his material
(the pupil) according to his ideal (objective) in his studio (the school)”.
Curriculum design is a term used to describe the purposeful, deliberate, and systematic

There are three basic types of curriculum design:

• Learner-centred design

• Subject-centered curriculum design revolves around a particular subject matter or
discipline.
• For example, a subject-centered curriculum may focus on math or biology.
• This type of curriculum design tends to focus on the subject rather than the individual.

• Learner-centred curriculum design takes each individual's needs, interests, and goals into
consideration.
• To empower learners and allow them to shape their education through choices.

opportunity to choose assignments, learning experiences or activities.
• It can motivate students and help them stay engaged in the material that they are learning.

• Problem-centered curricula focus on teaching students how to look at a problem and
overcome with a solution to the problem.
• Students are facing real-life issues, which helps them develop skills that are transferable to
the real world.

DIGITAL TEXT
Digital text or e-text is a electronic version of a written text. It can be found on the internet or
computer in a variety of hand-held electronic devices. Digital text is more flexible. It can be
searched, rearranged, condensed, annotated or read aloud by a computer. It is a perfect
alternative for students with different learning needs.
Digital textbooks offer various interactive functions and provide the learner with a
combination of textbooks, reference books, workbooks, dictionaries and multimedia contents
such as video clips, animations and virtual reality, both at school and at home without the
constraints of time and space.
Importance of digital text
• It provides students to use and know about content through technologies
• Students to become comfortable in using technologies.
• It benefits to teachers, students and school in general.

a) Aggregation
Firstly, collect the information sources and aggregate the content with social bookmarking and
arrange then for further processing.
b) Curation
Content curation is the process of gathering information relevant to a particular topic or area
of interest, usually with the intention of adding value.
c) Creation
It is the important part of process as you will design and share how the sources will be used in
your class. Exporting the files to pdf, doc., ppt formats and sharing them educational websites
and collaborating with schools and colleges.
E-CONTENT
• E- content is termed as electronic content that include text, image, graphics, animation,
audio and video that are available for distribution on electronic media is called e-content.
• It is designed to guide students through lot of information in a specific task.
• It can be used as a teacher in the virtual classroom situations.
• E-content development require huge amounts of creativity both at information level and
technology level.

• It is technologically friendly to pupil for downloaded text materials and used on any
computer in independently for the purpose of learning process.
• E-content is having learner friendly for easy navigation.
• E-content is learner centric; it is useful in self-instructional model.
• It is used in various teaching learning methods such as classroom, lecturing to a group,
lab session makes teacher friendly.
Phases of E – Content Development
a) Planning Phase
• Overall plan to develop educational content
• Identify basic information needed for development
• Estimate time, budget, and resources.
b) Design Phase
• To conduct a primary analysis of learning tasks, and create storyboard
• Conduct goal and task analysis
• Develop initial content ideas
c) Development Phase
• Actual production of e-content
• Create the -content by mixing of text, audio, video, animations, references, blogs, link
and MCQ (multiple choice questions)
d) Testing phase
• Test the spelling mistakes, content errors, clarity of pictures, relevant videos,
appropriate audios, timing of animations and hyperlinks.
e) Implementation Phase
• Explains how to install and how to use it and their difficulties experienced while using
e-content
f) Evaluation Phase
• Feedback from both learners and instructors

Advantages of e-content
• Hyper linking - contents can be linked to other pages inside and outside the book
• Non-linearity - the order of access can be determined by users.
• Addition of multimedia - content presentation is enhanced by mixing information type
(sound, video and so on)
• Data density - storage capacity is decreased while at the same time increasing
portability
• Searching - the usefulness of the content is enhanced by the ability of the users to locate
any piece of information, or to access any section instantly
