2. From a first glance this double page
spread to be very attractive. This is
because of the way that the magazine has
made the article eye catching and vibrant.
By looking at the whole spread you can
see it is full of life and colour.
To begin the text is very clearly set out
which is pleasing to the eye as it is placed
nicely and effectively around the picture to
get as much information on the page as
possible without making it look
overloaded with text. the title of the article
is very noticeable as there are two
different fonts used to highlight it and the
artist it is about. They really stand out as
they are larger than the rest of the article
and come across as more powerful.
There is a nice balance within the article of
image to text as even though there is a
large amount of text within the article, the
use of the large size picture helps to
balance out and separate the sections of
text, which make the shocking effect of
how much there is to read reduced.
Within the article there are the clearly
shown different sections that are in bold
these sections were clearly selected to
stand out as they are either important
sections of information or are questions
within the article. By making them bold it
shows the reader that they are important
to the article.
The picture within this article has a large
impact on the whole double page spread.
This is because it is used as mentioned
before to separate the amount of text, but
also to add more character to the article.
Within it there is a range of small sections
of bright colours and the large section of a
bold print. It really stands out within the
article as there is the use of the bold print
and bright colours which add little pops of
colour to the spread. It also helps to add
drama to the article as the text layout and
background of the article are very simple
and feminine.
The colour scheme for the piece is very
feminine and soft, but if definitely stands
out as there is the contrast between the
softer colours within the main body of the
article and background compared to the
bold and dramatic image. The whole of this
article fits very well with the artist it is about
as Nicki Minaj is known for having a love of
bold prints and colours as they make her
unique and stand out.

3. This is the a double page spread from Q magazine.
Throughout the year when I have been looking for
inspiration for my double page spread this is th one
that I was most attracted to when it came to creating
and designing my own.
The overall appearance of the set up is very
appealing as there is a nice balance between the
amount of text and the size of the picture. It comes
across as balanced and as though there isn’t too
much going on that it would make people not want to
read it due to there been too much text.
There is a very basic
monochrome colour scheme
within this spread which allows
the small sections of colour
within the picture to help make it
look more dramatic. The use of
the simple colour scheme
means that it is very easy for the
reader to see it as there isn’t
anything to fancy or out there
that can distract them within the
article.
The layout of th text is very appealing as it is
very clearly set out within page so that is is
easy to read and follow through. One
complaint about it would be from a personal
opinion would be that the edges of the
columns aren’t straight which colour bring
about a few uncomfortable feelings to some
readers.
Some elements of the text page that are
effective I think are the use of the drop letter A
at the beginning of the last paragraph and the
very large drop letter t the beginning of the
article that disappears behind the opening
paragraph of the article. It this that adds a nice
touch to the article as it fills a large section of
empty space on the page effectively and
doesn’t look out of place.
The picture is very different to what you expect
within music magazines as it is very dark and
dramatic with little colour. It look effective as it
is contrasting to the white background of the
text page. With the use of the medium close up
it means that al emotion has to be shown
through the artists face which is very clearly
shown. The picture looks to be very well
throughout for this article as it stands out
because of how different and unique it is as
well as how the overall effect it has on the
article which makes it more dramatic which
means that there is more likely to be a bigger
audience attracted to the article.
