Contents page evaluation
1. The layout is similar to the front cover of the magazine which is showing a certain type
of flow or theme that may carry on throughout the magazine. But I could have made the
contents page more unique and interesting by giving it an abstract appearance by
putting the page titles and page numbers in a different places on the page. In addition I
could of place the images next to the page titles to show what each page will be about.
I have used bright
colours such as red,
orange, yellow, green
and blue to grab the
attention of the
reader. Each box with
the page titles is in a
different colour to give
the contents page a
more interesting
appearance. The
colours may seem very
informal to some of
the audience so I could
use more neutral
colour tones to create
a more formal
appearance so that the
magazine doesn’t lose
its serious side so the
audience will still know
that the information
given in the magazine
is still true and original.
I have used images from the internet that relates to some of the pages within the
magazine. The images are colourful and eye catching and create a fun and interesting
side to the magazine, making the audience enthusiastic to read on. However I could
improve the contents page by adding a mixture of images that I have photographed
and some that are from the internet and this would have showed some variation in the
contents page.
I have put the font of
the page titles and
numbers in italics to
emphasis the main
focus of the page and
also to make the
writing stand out.
Furthermore I did a
survey asking if
people preferred italic
writing and I used a
mixture of italic and
non-italic to satisfy
the majority of the
audience as 50%
preferred italic and
50% preferred non-
italic.
I have added a question
and answer section on
the contents page as the
majority I asked wanted
a question and answer
section in the magazine.
By adding this section it
will be attention
grabbing and people
would be more
interested in reading the
magazine.
