Monuments And Monuments Dbq
From Trajan s Column, completed in 113 AD, to the statue of Christopher Columbus in Easton,
Pennsylvania, monuments and memorials have been a significant element of celebration and honor
throughout history (Source B). Though monuments are typically meant as a symbol of honor,
recent controversy over statues dedicated to Confederate leaders and generals has sparked the
debate over how to choose subjects to memorialize, and the actual development of these memorials.
When considering what or who to honor, one must also consider the subjects impact on history,
ensuring that it is positive. In creating memorials and monuments, groups and agencies should
examine the historical significance of the events or persons they wish to memorialize, and the...

Sverdlovsk Conspiracy Essay
Sverdlovsk 1979: An Unexplained Epidemic When you hear the name Sverdlovsk, you think
conspiracy, lies, and deceptions. The reason for this is, the city had been no stranger to such
things for nearly a century. Sverdlovsk, now known as Ekaterinburg, is a city in Russia that
once had 1.2 million people and was the industrial center of the Ural mountain region (Mangold
Goldberg, 1999). It is home to Military Compound 19, an institute built in 1947 used to produce
special bacteria and toxins for bio weapons. It also housed roughly 2,000 USSR troops and their
families. To the untrained eye, this place looks nothing more than a military garrison. Though,
deep in the center there are heavily guarded 10 foot high, double barbed wire fences surrounding
a building. The personnel in that building were producing large quantities of dried, powdered
anthrax spores (Mangold Goldberg, 1999). Were they using the facility to create biological warfare
or were they using it to create a vaccine for anthrax? Despite the possible deception that had been

The information had been wrong at first, but as the media began to press the matter, the information

yet the United States (US) government kept quiet because they were waiting for the CIA to find
incriminating evidence. With the help from the National Security Agency, the CIA was able to
collaborate enough substantiating proof to press the issue forward. They had learned an additional
200 to 300 civilians had possibly died by inhalation of anthrax do to the symptoms that were told by
an unnamed credible source. After gathering all the intelligence, the US government agreed it was

The Importance of Effective Communication within Doctor-...
The importance of effective communication within Doctor Patient relationships. Upon setting out
on this placement, it was my intention to study the communication methods and the effectiveness
of such by doctors within the multidisciplinary team in order to prepare this assignment. Whilst
on placement I was assigned to an On Call Registrar assigned to many consultants at the time.
This wasn t particularly ideal as continued contact with patients was not available to me,
however there was one patient I recall whom I gained a lot of insight from. We were called to the
extension ward of A E where we were presented with a young woman, 19 years of age. She had
been sent across from her GP with severe posterior flank pain. A urine test was... Show more content

We later found out that a urine sample had in fact been obtained at the GP surgery earlier that day,
which the patient had falsely claimed it had not. What stood out about this situation to me was that
this patient had withheld this vital information from the registrar. It could not be said whether this
had been intentional by the patient, however it was decided not to discuss it further with the
patient, as this may have hindered the trust and rapport that had already been built. It may have
been due to a breakdown in communication between the patient and her GP, but because of the
nature of the role in which the registrar had acquired the final outcome of this case, it was not
witnessed. Upon our withdrawal from this patient and A E department it was felt that the patient
felt a lot happier and more at ease with the care that she had been given so far and what was planned
for her. We felt confident in our discussions, that we made the right choice and that this was the
right course of action for this particular patient. Initially my feelings regarding this incident were
quite harsh and somewhat irrational. My only thoughts were why had this patient lied and
concluded that she may be amplifying her symptoms or potentially attention seeking. However, this
did not affect my treatment towards this patient and she received the investigation and treatment
she needed in which to recover as instructed by the registrar. Soon after this

Video Analysis Report Week 6| BUSN460: Senior Project||
After reviewing weeks 5 and 6 video episodes, we the business consultants have found that CanGo
still has some issues that must be corrected in order to operate and function effectively. We have
carefully evaluated CanGo s issues and will be introducing them as well as providing
recommendations to make corrections to help improve the company s problem areas. The first issue
was the employee evaluations; very vague. Another that we have noticed is that CanGo is
expanding too quickly, another issue that follows CanGo expanding too quickly is that they lack
the financial capital to grow so quick. Since they are growing, they are relocating their staff into

That is what is important, planning ahead and looking at the pros and cons is an effective part of
running a business. An employer should have a plan to relocate employees, they should consider
the skill level of the employee, along with the skills required to do the job, and also consider
whether they have the capital that is necessary to make the move and cover their current position. 4.
CanGo is leaving projects half ways. They spent enough money kicking off a project and working

throwing away money and time. They spent so much money and time working on it, so they
should complete the project and earn the money on it, maybe even make extra revenue that they

The Principles Of The Company Law, The Uk Cape Industries...
The Salomon principle dictates that if the company is established in accordance with the
requirements of the Companies Act 2006, it starts to operate as a separate legal entity. The
corporate veil becomes the dividing line between this entity and its shareholders. However, it soon
became obvious that this concept can be easily abused, therefore Courts fought hard in order to
establish exceptions to the Salomon principle in the form of lifting or piercing the veil, allowing
them to look behind the curtain if they spot some irregularity. In order to justify these drastic
measures, Courts would look for something substantive, such as an agency relationship, fraud,
avoidance of obligations, or group piercing grounds. In order to determine... Show more content on

As described by Professor Gower, once the company is registered, the corporate veil comes
down between the existing company and the shareholders, protecting them from any potential
liability. Soon it became apparent that the companies could be easily abused and used for
improper purposes. As a response to these developments, Court would use the concepts of lifting
and piercing of the veil in order to go behind the veil and attach an appropriate liability to those
who were behind it. Lifting of the veil was seen as the least drastic option, as the Court would
look behind to see if there is some impropriety, and put the veil down, still recognising the
company as a separate legal entity. Whereas piercing would involve tearing up the veil,
completely disregarding company as a separate entity and looking at it as an agent for another.
The process is very ad hoc, and therefore based on the discretion of the Courts. In order to
persuade the Court to look behind the corporate veil, the grounds must be substantive. One of
the established exceptions justified by the Court in order to lift the veil is when the evidence
shows that the company is being used as a device for avoidance of existing obligations. The good
examples of this exception would be the cases of Guildford Motors v Home and Jones v Lipman. In
Jones v Lipman Russell J ordered specific performance

Teaching Alternative Behavior
DeRosa, Roane, Doyle and McCarthy conducted a 2013 study on the use of alternative behaviors to
target different behaviors within the same response class. Swearing, talking out and yelling can all
be considered part of the same response class that are used as a method to gain attention from
others. Through the use of differential reinforcement, the students can be taught to produce more
appropriate methods of obtaining the desired responses. According to DeRosa, et al (2013), this
method of teaching alternative responding has been proven effective in decreasing the likelihood of
more severe behaviors from occurring. In this study, the alternative behaviorwas prompted by the
use of a visual cue, which was a red card being placed on the... Show more content on

Argumentative Essay On The Ebola Virus
Introduction Majority of people acknowledge that the Ebola and Zika virus are two of the most life
threatening diseases that are incurable. According to American scientists, the Ebola virus originated
from direct and indirect human contacts and animals in Guinea meanwhile the Zika virus was
influenced by mosquitos from Brazil which makes pregnant women more vulnerable to the Zika
virus than anyone else since it could lead to several birth defects. Even though the Zika virus was
discovered more than 80 years ago, scientists still haven t made any progress in finding a cure.
Fortunately, Mumbai scientists have stumbled upon the idea horse antibiotics can cleanse the Ebola
virus spreading throughout the organ systems, not to mention that it s affordable for those from
low income families but we still don t know if it ll work. As a result, every individual should
understand how lethal the Ebola and Zika virus are due to it unknown vaccinationthat scientists are
still trying to uncover.
Arguments
Apparently, there are more than 3000 species of mosquitoes living today and it s possible that
any of those mosquitos we encounter may be infected with the Zika virus. Moreover, the Zika
virus is extremely hazardous towards pregnant since it can lead to microcephaly which is a
disorder that causes newborn babies to become retarded. On top of that, the Ebola is equally
dangerous for all individuals who are being diagnosed this virus ascribed to how our organs will

Essay about Poetry and Sex
Poetry and Sex
Since the beginning of human existence, there has been once practice, one instinct, one single
obsession that we cannot escape. Some may call it necessary; others say it s a gift. It can be
controlling, enlightening but it s oh so powerful. It isn t the need for food, safety or shelter. It isn t
love nor greed nor vanity, but sex, ladies and gentlemen.
With the evolution of human communication poets have been using the power of words to
describe the practice of sex, and the emotions that come with it. As a guest speaker invited to this
years festival, I have explored how sex is expressed through poetry from a multitude of cultures and
eras. It has become apparent that the traditions and values of a society ... Show more content on

Coleridge constantly relates to nature within Kubla Khan, making it inherent to Romantic poetry,
yet this poem is not strictly about nature. At first glance it is description of Coleridge s drug

Coleridge s repressed sexual desires and feelings. But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted
Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover!
A holy place! As holy and enchanted
At this point of the poem, connections can be made between his words and sexuality, such as
fertile ground and potency, or deep romantic chasm, a metaphor for a part of the female anatomy.
He refers to this chasm as holy and enchanted, alluding to the mystery of women. It is almost as if
Coleridge himself is mystified and awed up until the point of worship for this chasm that women
possess.
A savage place! as holy and enchanted

By woman wailing for her demon lover!
Coleridge paints a vivid picture of a woman tormented by love and desire, wailing with an almost
religious fervor. This is accentuated by use of exclamation marks. Thus,

The Significance Of A Rose In The War Of The Roses
Q: Who was in the war and why was it started?
A: The war of the roses was fought between the House of York and the House of Lancaster. These
two houses were royal family descending from the head family of England. When king Henry the
6th suddenly fell ill to his first of many insanity spells Richard from the House of Yorkbelieved that
he had the right to temporarily take over since he was the great grand son of king Edward the
third. Except Queen Margaret had already given birth to the kings first son, his name was
Edward of Lancaster. This made Richards claim to the throne a lot weaker since Edward was a
direct descendant of the current king. The york s eventually marched against Henry and took him
hostage Queen and his son to go into exile. The queen worked to rescue her husband and restore
her sons place as the rightful king of England (Wars of the RosesBritish History).
2. Q: What is the significance of a rose in this war and why is it called war of the roses?
A: The significance of a rose in this was was that it was one of many symbols used by each
house. Although this wasn t there only symbol the York s had a white rose as one of there
symbols. The Lancaster s adopted the red rose as a symbol in the 1480 s, this was more towards
the end of the war so there s no real significance of a rose in this war. The war was actually called
the cousins war until the 19th century when it was changed to the war of the roses (Andrews).

Persuasive Essay On Spanking A Child
Ponder this; you are a parent with only a seven year old child. Your child continues to perform an
act that you told them to stop doing, because they have already done it three times before. You
have had enough and decided to discipline your child in a way different from a stern discussion.
You decide to spank your child. Would you consider the spanking a form of child discipline
, or
would you consider it child abuse? Are you expecting your child to learn from this disciplinary
action, or are you spanking your child because you enjoy knowing that you are in control and that
you quite possibly may be injuring your child?
According to Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota, The goal of discipline is to create an orderly,
predictable, stable, and fun world to enjoy and grow healthy. When it comes to discipling a child,
there are many different courses of action that could be taken. Parents can and should discipline
their children (Smenyak). There is a large controversy over the most universal discipline method
there is, spanking. Many parents believe that spanking their child can be a beneficial way of
correcting a child if done correctly (Smenyak). Other parents believe that spanking a child is
simply abuse, that it does not work, or that Spanking plants a seed for later violent behavior, says
AskDrSears.com.
One very simple word that describes discipline is training. A child is not born with the
knowledge of what is acceptable or expected. A parent must invest their own time and patience
while showing love and exemplary behavior while molding their children into becoming well
behaved (Child Abuse vs. Discipline). Being a parent is a hard enough job already, but when it
comes to being a parent having to discipline your child, it becomes much harder. It takes time for
a child to learn and process new behaviors, and this is a reason a parent must not have a short fuse
when it comes to discipling their children.
When it comes to discipline, people will either agree that discipline is a crucial way for a child
to learn the rules and gain values, or that discipline is abuse. Discipline is a parental response to a
certain action that has been taken upon by their child. If a child is expected to do

The Type I Paracord can hold a 97 lb weight, which is equivalent to 43 kg; that is why it is also

survival kits, bracelets, belts and so on. It is normally used at the core base of any Paracord
project; most of the survival tools mentioned in this book will be crafted with this type of
Paracord. Type IV Paracord This is strongest Paracord out there, and it s able to carry a weight of

a man suffering from DID. His alters grew in power and created an identity called the Beast ,
who was capable of changing his own body into a taller and stronger creature who then starts a

The Gnostic Gospels By Elaine Pagel
The Gnostic Gospels written by Elaine Pagel discusses the origins of the Christian faith and the true
reasons behind some of the Christian s beliefs. Pagel claims that the theological disputes between
the Orthodox Church and Gnostics in the early stages of Christianity were largely motivated by the
political struggle for leadership of the religion. Orthodox Christians supported texts and
interpretations to strengthen their goal which was to create an organization of believers. Gnostics,
who was not necessarily seeking authority over Christianity, were eventually overshadowed by the
supremacy of the Orthodox. Prior to the discovery of the artifact at Nag Hammadi in Egypt 1945
there were only had texts that support the Orthodox Christians belief, now historians were able to
fully evaluate the two groups in a new prospective. Some of the writings found in this newly
discovered artifact are believed to be the Gospel of Thomas and Mary Magdalene. Although Mary
Magdalene does not have a book in the current bible, it is believed by many gnostic Christians that
Jesuscame to her in spirit after his death and passed on to her the secret knowledge of
enlightenment. The new gospels that were discovered in Nag Hammadi doesn t emphases on the
birth or death of Jesus as the current biblical gospels do, but focuses more on Jesus life. Each
chapter is devoted to a major theological problem that divides the Orthodox from the Gnostic. Pagel
makes a compelling case that theological beliefs

Ethical Dilemmas In Medical Care
Although we, as individuals, frequently find ourselves amidst ethical dilemmas as we navigate
through our lives every day, none of them are as controversial as those in the field of medicine.
Undoubtedly, resolving conflict among principles is a difficult task. In context of medicine,
where decisions have a direct correlation to life or death, the gravity of the decisions is magnified.
Usually, the source of the dilemma can be linked to conflict within the four main domains: respect
for others, beneficence, justice and non maleficence (Wesgate, 2017). In the presentation, Susan
Wesgate gave one authentic advice to help us navigate these situations of conflict go back to your

when I am, that this advice helps me make decisions.
During the presentation, we discussed problems in deciding what will benefit patients, resource
allocation, confidentiality, truth telling, the definition of death, informed consent and caring for the
terminally ill who may not be able to communicate their own decisions. Among these topics and
more which we discussed, I found the concept of faith in relation to medical care the most difficult

Why Is Absolute Monarchy Essay
From Kings to Sultans, Monarchies are well known and highly unstable. A monarchy is a type of
government where the power is passed down generation by generation. The first civilizations
practiced monarchism, and up until ancient Greece, Monarchism was the only way of government.
Monarchies come in many forms, like Tsardoms and Khanates. Some have many to help rule, others
are based solely on their hereditary master. The question is, why are they so famous? It s always
been nature for the strongest to rule, up until modern day. Whether it s the strongest in brawn or
brains, ruling is dependent upon who can defeat whom. It s not only mankind that practices this
method. The humans version of this is just more advanced. There are many types of Monarchy.

Ethical Issues In Bhopal, India ( Union Carbide )

Bhopal, India (Union Carbide)
Background and history of the Union Carbide Accident
The Union Carbide Accident occurred in 1984 in Bhopal, India. The incident led to a discharge of
approximately 30 tons of highly poisonous gases, including methyl isocyanate (MIC). The plant
was situated in close proximity to shanty outskirts of the town (Taylor, 2014). Following the
incident, close to six hundred thousand people were exposed to the toxic gas. The effects of the
incident on human health were manifested through nausea, eye and throat burns and eventually,
deaths. In addition, the incident led to retardation of mental development in infants. The average
death toll was reported as 15,000 persons. Today, toxic substances are still evident at the site
(Taylor, 2014).
Ethical Questions or Problems that Came Up
Preliminary investigations point out a fundamentally flawed working environment at the facility.
There was a fundamental departure from the ASCE Canon that requires engineers to hold
paramount the welfare, health and safety of the public ( Code of Ethics, 2016). Simply, the plant was
devoid of adequate operational and safety instruments. The available instruments such as MIC
refrigerators were of poor quality. This affected the operation of the systems components (Taylor,
2014).

Genome Wide Association Studies Essay
Genome wide association study has been very useful in the recent years. It has helped researchers to
detect genes that are not detected that easily. With the detection, it helps the researchers to prevent
and treat the particular disease. Breast cancer has been one of the most common cancer in the world
and the most common in women. Even though, breast cancer is detected easily with mammograms
or self examination there are times where it can be hard to detect. Genomewide association studies
help to identify the genes that are in risk for breast cancer. Every population has different lifestyle,
genetic variants and other factors. Sometimes not every SNP (single nucleotide polymorphisms) are
present in every population. Genome wide... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No studies have investigated the association of the GWAS identified SNPs with breast cancer risk
in Indian population (Nagrani et al,1). Breast cancer risk has been increasing in India for the last
decade but there haven t been enough studies to identify risk factors related to lifestyle or genetics
(Nagrani et al, 1). The study was conducted at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India, to identify
lifestyle and genetic risk factors of breast cancer. This study focuses on examining the risk in
SNP loci for breast cancer identified by GWAS in Caucasian and East Asian population (Nagrani
et al, 1). This is one of the first studies to be done on an Indian population to examine a large
number of GWAS identified breast caner risk loci in an adequately powered population based
study (Nagrani et al, 1). The cases were aged from 20 69 years with a date of diagnosis not more
than six months. Controls were also aged from 20 69 years of age. The controls were frequency
matched to cases by age and region of residence during enrollment (Nagrani et al, 2). Apart from
questionnaire to be filled out, a 10mL blood sample was collected from each study participant in
order to extract genomic DNA (Nagrani et al, 2). 250ng DNA was applied to SNP typing using
Illumina s GoldenGate Genotyping Custom SNP Panel assay (Nagrani et al, 2). The genotyping

Maya Collapse Research Paper
In 2012, inspired by the Mayan Long Count calendar, the bizarre belief that apocalypse was
happening brought fear to many people. Whether the Mayans predicted the end of the world or
not, it is undeniable that their civilization is among the most advanced, mysterious, and influential
ancient ones. Although the reason behind Maya Collapse is still being debated, there are a
number of theories proposed by scientists. While Jared Diamond in Collapse: How Societies
Choose to Fail or Succeed and Patricia A. McAnny and Tomas Gallareta NegrГіn in Questioning

same problem, their perspectives are rather different. Compared to Patricia A. McAnny and Tomas

McAnny and NegrГіn do not see those claims as explanations to Maya Collapse. They assert, The
predominant agricultural features of the Late Classic are those of conservation... In other words,
Maya farmers of the Late Classic seem to have been doing all that they could to prevent land
degradation and promote soil retention and fertility. So population growth does not necessarily lead
to land degradation (McAnny and NegrГіn, 153). This is not a valid argument: being aware of
environmental issues and trying to protect it sadly do not account to not be impacted by
environmental degradation. The Mayans method of agriculture, slash and burn, could only support
a certain range of the population. It was such a dilemma to Mayans that in order to increase
population, they need more food, and in order to produce more, they have to deforest and increase
labor force as they did not have animal powered transport or plows (Diamond, 165). This is the
cause of overpopulation and environmental retrograding. As one of the most developed ancient
civilizations, Mayans should have noticed these crucial issues, but before the Mayans solved these
problems, the following drought mentioned above might have brought an end to

question was also asked by Santiago and he had also set out on a practically impossible journey .In
the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago learns, When we strive to become` better than
we are, everything around us becomes better, too. First, Santiago understands that everything is not

My Observation At The Landlord And Tenant Supervisor
Introduction:
This report is based on my observation at the Landlord and Tenant Board which is located 3
Robert Speck Parkway Suite 520 Mississauga, Ontario L47 2G5 on Tuesday, January 26th, 2016
and Wednesday, January 27th, 2016. Throughout the day at the Landlord and Tenant Board we had
observed many different cases.
In terms of location, the office building was in close juxtaposition to a public bus stop that had a
route that lead directly from Brampton. The bus schedule conveniently operated every 9
minutes. There were two Brampton busses that lead into the location, the 502 and the 103. The
bus was convenient and reliable however if you are going everyday it will become very costly.
If you are a tenant with a car it is simple to drive from Brampton to Mississauga. The parking is
conveniently in front of the building, but there is a cost for parking; for the whole day $7.00, for
an hour $5.25, for 40 minutes $3.50 and for 20 minutes $1.75. As for the parking, it is convenient to
have your own source of transportation nonetheless it is quite costly.
When you walk into the building there is a front desk with a security guard able to direct you to
the floor you need to go to. The Landlord and Tenant Board is located on the 5th floor, the Board
Office has five separate cubicles with secretaries able to help you with various questions. The
Board Office is easy to find due to several signs on the wall; it was clean, quiet and orderly. The

How Ww2 Affected America
How World War II Has Impacted America
World War II changed the course of history starting in the second half of the 20th century. The war
began on September 1, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. America entered the war in 1941,
when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. America joined the Allied Forces. The Allied Forces consisted of
Great Britain, America, the Soviet Union, and France. The war led to changes at home including
food rationing, and women entering the workplace.. In addition, the war had a great impact on
American society. As a result of the war, the United Stateswas able to get out of the Great
Depression. At this time, many American citizens changed their stances on social, and economic
issues. Many people still hold these beliefs today. Even though there were many great things that
were happening during this time, there were also many challenges that American citizens faced, no

Twenty five percent of all workers made below 64 cents per hour. Some of the effects still

companies excelled, television became popular, and roads became more developed ( The
Postwar Economy: 1945 1960 ). There was a new demand for homes. Soldiers came home from
the war, and would want to move. Most people began to move into suburbs. Suburbs offered more
land, and lower priced homes (Dean). America became the largest industrial producer in the world.

How To Treat Eczema
You can effectively treat eczema by removing allergens within your environment. These are the
substances which cause your body to react aversely. The overactive immune system will attack
your body cells upon a trigger from the environment. Some of the most common allergens include
perfume, creams and laundry detergent. At the same time you need to check your diet to remove
foods that tend to bring on the allergic reactions. The common foods that can lead to this sort of
reaction include eggs, fish, peanuts, wheat products and milk. Once these are removed then you
have a very good chance of overcoming the allergy.

Restorative Justice Thesis
Introduction Restorative Justice (RJ) is a program that if implemented correctly, could not only
revolutionize our justice system but perhaps transform our society as a whole, by greatly
reducing crime. This is a bold statement; but if people can be taught about the harm the smallest
crimes can have on our society, as well as the grave potential it could lead to other more harmful
crimes. When added in the home training, as well as our school system, as young as preschool,
there is no doubt this would greatly reduce crime, because society would have been talked earlier
on about the impacts of crime. Yes, there will be those who would only see this as a program to be
soft of criminals, however when they see the true goal of this program, responsibility,... Show more

students and teachers reported that the program made the school more peaceful, with fewer fights

Sample Resume For A Nurse
With an ever increasing body of knowledge in the field of nursing, more education is being
required to enter the field of nursing. Many healthcare institutions are raising the educational
requirements in order to become employed or maintain employment in their facilities.
Healthcare organizations are transitioning to hiring registered nurses (RN) who have a higher
level of education, such as, a graduate from a Baccalaureate Degree Nursing (BSN) program.
The goal of these institutions is to have nurses with a broader array of skills that can meet the
growing demands of our patient population. BSN prepared nurses are recognized for their well
rounded skills in critical thinking, management, case management and health promotion versus
Associate Degree nurses (ADN)/Diploma nurses that focus on direct patient care. ADN/Diploma
nursing programs meet the minimal educational standard to become eligible to take the National
Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX RN). The minimal education
time for eligibility for the NCLEX is at least two years of academic course work in the discipline
of nursing. With successful completion of an ADN/Diploma program and passing of the NCLEX
RN allows graduates to gain eligibility of an entry level nursing position. According to recent
analysis of the nursing job market, ADN/Diploma nurses qualify for 58% of nursing related jobs.

Shortly after that, In J.C.R Licklider began conceptualize the idea developing a globally accessible
network of computers that would allow access of applications and data remotely throughout the
world, wherever the internet existed. Of course all of this would require huge bandwidth
capabilities that at that time were not available. However, this all became possible in the 1990 s
when the bandwidth of the internet had evolved to be large enough to bring cloud computing to the
world ( history of cloud computing, 2009).
Once the internet became a viable medium for cloud based computing, companies started offering
applications to the masses. In early 2000 s, Amazon developed a cloud based tool, Amazon
Mechanical Turk, which offered cloud computing, data storage and artificial intelligence. Later, in
2006, Amazon released its second generation cloud services known as Elastic Compute Cloud
(EC2) that allowed individuals and organizations to rent computing space to run all their computer

Zimbardo s own words, Suppose you had only kids who were normally healthy, psychologically

I personally disagree and when I assert my conclusions at the end, I will explain why.
Dehumanization is taking away an individual s autonomy, their creative and unique aspects of
their personality. The experiment dehumanized all the participants by doing precisely this. By
placing them in an artificial controlled setting where variables were manipulated and allegedly
made them act a certain way due to assumed roles, they were not autonomous, i.e. dehumanized.
If I were a prisoner, especially knowing that it was only a simulation, I would have rebelled (as
some prisoners did) and definitely not become subordinate or tattled on my fellow prisoners. I
know this as I have spent a few days in a real jail before. While I was there I tried to avoid getting
into trouble and the guards didn t provoke me. When they stripped searched me however I asked
the guard doing the search if he was a f**got. I guess I didn t like someone having control over
me like that. Had a guard this real situation provoked me, even knowing the consequences, I
probably would kick his ass. Furthermore, I know I wouldn t act crazy, cry or puss out and act like
my life was ending. I would probably treat this situation pretty comically with a lot of sarcasm

Essay On Budgeting
Did you know Google AdWords just announced on October 4, 2017, advertisers budgets will be
automatically enabled to exceed their daily allotment by two times?
Is this an optional change?
Nope!
Is this a good change and will it affect how you actually allocate your daily ad spend? Well, that
depends.
What Does the New Adwords Daily Budget Update Really Mean for You?
When it comes right down to it what s changed? And do you actually lose any control over your
daily AdWords budget spend?
Google hasn t made any major changes to AdWords in quite some time until now. Google quietly

makes advertisers a little nervous because they don t want the ... Show more content on

However, the end result of this policy, which is yet to be seen, has advertisers concluding that
setting a daily budget means nothing now.
Potential Issues (Good and Bad) as a Result of This New Update
There are several things that are going to change and perhaps be a little more challenging. For
example:
1. You ll probably never come in under your monthly advertisingbudget again. That could be good
or bad depending on how you look at it.
2. This change will help you maximize your monthly ad spend by showing your ads to more
people and that s great. Isn t that what you want? Of course you do. But it s also an opportunity
for Google to increase their ad revenue because this will have every advertiser coming a little closer
to spending all of their monthly budget. So it appears to be a win win for everyone.
3. Your daily tracking reports will show more sporadic numbers. On some days your ads will be
overserved and other days they will fall short, but the daily fluctuations will go both ways which
means your spend will level out by month s end.
Explaining How it All Works
Google has always had the ability to exceed the daily AdWords budget you ve selected; however,
they previously had it capped at 20 percent versus the 100 percent they are now using to manipulate
their policy.
This process is called overdelivery. There are some

Exposure of Humans to Ozone
Previous studies have shown that exposure to human by ozone is effective to health and it is
increasing worldwide. Air pollution is the serious global threat which is increasing continuously
and the ground level concentration of ozone is major problem in present and also in future.
Presents projected average daily 8 h maximum ozonelevels for future using the raw and calibrated
climate model outputs. The 95% projections intervals accounts for uncertainties in the
associations between daily ozone levels, and daily meteorology and precursors level. The
number of exceedance days during the historical period was 34 per year. Calibrated climate
simulations projected an increase in the number of exceedance days ranging from 2.6 to 8.3 (7%
to 24%) with mean 2.8 (8.3%) per year between 2041 2070 and
1999 2004.
The impacts of ozone on human health are associated with short term acute effects on the
respiratory system, skin, lungs, chronic disease and death. The cellular and biochemical changes
in the alveolar region of the lung can also be measured in humans exposed to low levels of
ozone. The data presented here demonstrate that extended exposure of humans to levels of ozone
as low as 0.08 ppm results in inflammation and damage in alveolar region of the lung. These levels
are at or below the current standard, since the present hourly ozone standard of 0.12 ppm translates
roughly into 0.1 ppm over 8 h (38). Furthermore, these effects were observed using only healthy

Autotrophs are able to store chemical energy in food molecules they build themselves. Food is
chemical energy stored in organic molecules, it provides both the energy to do work and the carbon

they use is called photosynthesis. There are only three groups of organisms are capable of this

Many people assume that the book and movie of the same story are always very similar, but they
are incorrect. In my comparison of the short story Rikki tikki tavi by Rudyard Kipling and the
movie of Rikki tikki tavi, I found them to be rather different. There were many minor differences,
but the three main topics in the short story that clearly differentiate it from the movie are the
setting, the character traits, and the use of humor. The setting in the movie differs from the setting
in the short story in a few ways. The setting in the movie dives into larger detail in many of the
scenes such as in the beginning flood scene. The flood scene setting in the movie reveals an eerie,
strong, storm with a flood that resembles a river and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the very beginning, the character traits in the movie differ from those portrayed in the
short story. The ways in which they differ include the various switched roles of characters and
other aspects including age and clothing. One of the switched roles is right in the beginning of
the movie when the father lifts up Rikki from the sand, whereas in the short story the mother
picks him up. Another switched role would be when Darzee s wife explains what happened to
their baby egg that was eaten by Nag, but in the short story Darzee does the explaining. One last
switched role I came across was how Nag is the instigator who wanted to take over the garden, but
in the story it is Nagaina. Some other differences include the age of Teddy and the clothing of the
family. In the short story, Rudyard Kiplingcreates Teddy as a young toddler, using words such as
nursery to describe the room where he sleeps, but in the movie Teddy appears to be almost ten
years old with his fancy clothing and tall height. Surprisingly, the family in the movie wears very
nice, neat clothing. This is surprising because of the way Rudyard Kipling describes the setting.

three CSU GC s library uses to find resources. There is a quirk when saving any article though,
you must create a login profile for each search engine. While both of these issues are somewhat of

Displaying Self Harm In Dostoyevsky s Notes From The...
Displaying self harm is the men s way to prove their toughness, another aspect society portrays
men to be. In the beginning of Notes From the Underground, the Underground Man is afraid he is
severely sick, but does nothing about it. Instead, he complains and ignores his sickness. However,
I know nothing at all about my disease. and do not know for certain what ails me. I don t consult a
doctor for it, and never have (Dostoyevsky 91). Later on the Underground Mandescribed his
reluctance to seek medical help came from him believing he did not need it due to the fact that he
was tough enough to endure the pain it brought. The Underground Man uses his free will to decide
for himself not to seek assistance. This free will came from wanting to... Show more content on

As one attempts to have a closer and more personal relationship, the other pulls back. Estragon
fears becoming too intimate with Vladimir because he wants to keep his masculinity. The chasm
between Vladimir and Estragon continued to grow throughout the play. Within Fight Club, the
characters show love but in a sense of ownership in order to hold their masculine title. They also
are afraid to love in hopes of becoming vulnerable. Palahniuk wrote, This isn t about love in
caring. This is about property as in ownership (Palahniuk 14). This view of love is not positive,
as it is used to control others. However, there is irony within this because none of the characters
within the novel want to be controlled. Not falling in love can also serve as a reason to uphold
masculinity. The readers could tell that the narrator was head over heels for Marla Singer, one
of the few female characters in the novel, but he refuses to approach it. He said, I tell Tyler,
Marla Singer doesn t need a lover, she needs a care worker. Tyler says, Don t call this love
(Palahniuk 62). The narrator and Tyler agree with each other that they are most certainly not in
love with Marla, but the readers know he is. Another example is present when the narrator
believed he liked Marla but claimed he did not love her. It s not love or anything . . . But I think I
like you, too (Palahniuk 205). In the world of Fight Club, liking

Analysis Of Alice ; S Change In Attitude In Alice Walker s...
However, Alice begins to realize the dynamics as the story progresses and new experiences
emerge. I feel that Alice s change in attitude is Carroll s way of insinuating the ridiculousness or
hypocrisy in the adult s and society s standard way of thinking. The first scene where the reader
sees Alice take hold of her authority is when she becomes incredibly big at the White Rabbit s
House. I feel that this scene is very significant because it shows how the shift in Alice s character
is set up. In order for Alice to stand up against the Rabbit, she had to become bigger in size. I
believe that this scene is a metaphor to how Carroll viewed the ridiculousness of how most
adults viewed children, and was a way to show children reading the novel that one day they too
will grow bigger in size and have the upper hand on the older adults. This scene also shows the
fragility of the power dynamics. Carroll is insinuating that this idea that adults are more
knowledgeable or superior because they are bigger than a child is nonsenses and can easily be
altered. Once Alice realized she has the authority in herself, the entire dynamics of the story
changes. Ren even states, in spite of the awkward inconvenience, (Alice) enjoys her large body
size, for it gives her power to fight back (Ren 4). I believe that Alice begins to realize her own
power and voice and in turn she discovers strength within herself. It s through this new found power
that Alice threatens them by saying, you better not

Halaf Pottery
Stuart Campbell s The Halaf Period in Iraq: Old Sites and New focuses on during 5200 4500
B.C., when a farming society emerged in northern Mesopotamia and Syria, which shared a
common culture and produced pottery that is among the finest ever made in the Near East. He
describes, these settlements share a unique material assemblage, especially characterized by the
distinctive and elaborately decorated Halaf pottery, named after the site in Syria where it was first
discovered (p.182). The unique characteristics he describes allow the reader to engage into the
overall article and learn further. Campbell identifies the most active sites where the excavations

Mo Money, Mo Greed Corruption
The American dream: a spouse, a few children, a lucrative job, a nice home, and of course, some
material luxuries. Those who are able to realize this goal have my respect and they should be
proud of their accomplishments. However, my beef arises with the very few Americans who
greatly surpass this dream. Yes, I mean the multi millionaires and billionaires of America.
The wealthiest one percent of our nation owns half the financial assets and 38 percent of the total
wealth. They have more money than the bottom 90 percent combined. The next richest nine percent

If you follow financial news, then the name Tyco should also ring a bell. Tyco International s two
top executives have been accused of looting $600 million from the company s accounts. The
CEO, Dennis Kozlowski, squandered much of this money on excessive luxuries, like a $6,000
shower curtain for his penthouse apartment. He also spent $2 million of Tyco s money on his wife
s fortieth birthday party. The party was on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia and featured
fireworks, ice sculptures, flaming messages in the sky, a private Jimmy Buffet concert, and many
other extravagances. Kozlowski is currently on trial in New York. The list of companies involved
in this sort of corporate fraud is long, and includes MCI/WorldCom, HealthSouth, and several other
Fortune 500 firms.
The financial services industry people who work with these corrupt companies are also far from
innocent. In April of this year, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) fined ten top Wall
Street firms a total of $1.4 billion because of improper analyst research activities. Analysts are
highly paid researchers who focus specifically in one industry, or even on one company, and give
recommendations on whether to buy, sell, or hold a certain financial security. The SEC found that
over the last five years or so, many analysts were unfairly rating companies based on their bank s
relationship with that company. For instance, if Microsoft did a lot of investment banking business

Theory Of Natural Selection And Genetic Drift
Evolution is the process in which various living organisms developed and diversified over time. The
study of evolution is important because it helps understand how species adapt to changing
environments. Evolution has been studied over time by observing populations when they undergo
evolutionary mechanisms such as natural selection or genetic drift. Charles Darwin came up with
the theory of natural selection. Darwin believed that living organisms tended to survive and
produce more offspring when they were better adapted to their environment. Apart from natural
selection, genetic drift was also an important mechanism. Genetic drift occurs when the gene variant
changes due to the random testing of organisms. Populations of organisms change over time
because of natural selection and genetic drift. The Hardy Weinberg equation is used to observe
whether a specific trait within a population is changing or not. A null hypothesis is provided by the
Hardy Weinberg equation that can be compared to a straightforward observation of a population.
The Hardy Weinberg equation only remains true under the circumstances that the allele and
genotype frequencies remain the same as generations continue to come about. When no
evolutionary change has occurred, the population is said to be in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium.
Populations are rarely in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. Drosophila melanogasteris a fruit fly that is
commonly used in genetic studies. Drosophilaonly live around two weeks.

Personaltive Of Personal Narrative
Personal Narrative I heard them fighting every night, endless and endless rage at each other. I
just hid in my room and pretended it wasn t happening in my world. Hiding was the only way to
escape the fear I felt every night. Once I said Dad, why do you and Mom yell at each other? He
replied with go to your room and don t ask that again. A seven year old couldn t understand this
and needed help but with no way to learn all I could do was watch as their marriage fell crumbling
to the ground.
After that is when the beating started, slowly at first, but progressively it got worse and worse.
He would come in after a fight and hit me out of frustration. I always tried to hide but he always
knew where to look. He said If you tell anyone, I ll kill you. I never once doubted it, so I never told
anyone. For the next six months I was under his rule, I had no control over how hard or how
long he beat me for. I prayed to god so many times, but he never answered. An idol is only as
good as you see it as. My father used to be my idol but after that started I was afraid being near
him. I could not tell anyone, I had no one to help me. I was trapped against a monster that I could
not fight.
On my eighth birthday my dad came up to me and stated plainly We re leaving, pack up your stuff
and don t tell your mother. So I went upstairs and started to pack, but I couldn t fit all of my toys
in the bag so I shouted Mom, would you help me pack? My father thundered upstairs looking

Persuasive Essay On Frankenstein
Monsters are intimidating creatures created by artists. It is incredibly common for a monster to be
ugly . Human beings judge stranger s personality based on their aesthetic, and researchers has
actually discovered that this is factual (Mlodinow). Members of the modern society would deny
that they judge others based on appearance, however, since prejudice is a humans survival instant, it
is nearly impossible to deny this fact (ASU). Long before scientists could prove this concept,
writers used this flaw against readers, in order to create terrorizing fictional novels. Play writers
would make the monster distinctively different from any other living beings, notably they achieve
this task by creating an irregular creature with a wide range... Show more content on

Tales of them are told in parts of Europe and the Middle East. They are cannibalistic monster;
thought to be once a human being, but cursed due to eating human s flesh (XenonZerrow). Similar

most folklore tales, the image of a character is exaggerate to teach young kids life lessons.
However, in Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series, Foresman and Irwin explained that
monsters are technically above us due to their natural power. Nonetheless, human being suppress

the spookiness of the monster is their physical appearance. Ghouls are portrayed badly in the Arabic

Examples Of Foreshadowing In The Landlady By Roald Dahl
Foreshadowing, as defined, are clues that hint at future events of the story. These clues, or
foreshadowing, can lead to what the audience may call, suspense (anxiousness or excitement caused
by anticipation), and this happens because foreshadowing allows the reader to infer or predict what
happens next, and this can make the story more immersive and can allow the reader to anticipate
what happens next, and so, this anticipation can causes excitement or anxiousness, aka suspense.
This practice of foreshadowingcausing suspense was displayed in the story, The Landlady by Roald
Dahl. The story is about a young man, Billy, who stays in a Bed and Breakfast run by a peculiar
and dotty lady, who acts and says a lot of weird and quirky actions and statements, and Billy s
reactions to those various statements and actions. Throughout the story, Roald Dahl foreshadows

BED AND BREAKFAST, it said. This creates suspense and curiosity for the reader, as Billy is
affected uniquely by the sign, and it makes the reader curious and anticipate what will happen to
Billy because of this weird affection given by the sign, and this is foreshadowing. This is
foreshadowing, as it foreshadows the weird action the sign forces Billy to do, which is knock on
the door of the Bed and Breakfast, as at first he wasn t going to do that, but then the sign
compelled him otherwise. So, this weird affection from the sign gives us the ability to foreshadow
and anticipate the effects this weird affection may have on Billy s decisions in the future of the
story, which was knocking on the door of the Bed and

Molar Mass Case Study
Molar mass is the sum of the masses of each atoms in a compound or element. For example,
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) , a gas that is a combination of carbon and oxygen, has a molar mass of
approximately 44.01 g/mol. The unit that we ll be using in molar mass is g/mol and it is read as
grams per mole. The table on the right side is the list of the atomic masses of elements that are
commonly used in solving problems. If you think that atomic massand molar mass is just the same
then you got it wrong. Molar mass and atomic mass is very different to each other. Atomic mass is
just the mass of an atom that is denoted by amu.
Steps on getting the molar mass of a compound: Ex. NH3 (ammonia)

3. Multiply each element by the number of atoms present. N 14.01 x 1 = 14.01 H 1.01 x 3 = 3.03
4. Now, you can get the molar mass by adding each element s product. 14.01 + 3.03 = 17.04
5. Lastly, don t forget to write the unit of it so that you will not get a minus because the plays an
important part. NH3= 17.04 g/mol

that s why people treat it as a special isotope. 1 mole of any substance is equal to 6.022 x
1023base units and it is known worldwide as the Avogadro s number that is named after the Italian
scientist Amedeo Avogadro. Here is the visual representation of conversion of mass, moles and

Summary Of The Help By Kathryn Stockett
Differences do not divided people, it is the inability to accept these differences that divided
people which often leads to adversity and obstacles for minorities, In the book The Help by
Kathryn Stockett, African American maids face prejudice and hardships daily. This novel
highlights the many conflicts people face during the civil rights movement in Jackson, Mississippi
1962. There is a big divide between the middle and lower class; most of the Black peoplelive in
poverty and work for white families, Aibileen and Minny are maids that work for white families,

She is the only white person is Jackson who is trying to shed a light on the injustices these
women face, she eventually has to turn against her racist friends (Holly Holbrook and Miss
Leefolt). Eugenia was very close to her maid Constantine, she was closer to her then her own
mother, but Eugenia stopped hearing from her while she was at college. When she came home
from school, Constantine mysteriously disappeared and no one would tell her what happened
to her. Later on, she finds out that Constantine left Jackson to give up her child for adoption
because Constantine s father was white and her mother was black, so when she had a baby with
a black man, her baby was white. if she kept her baby, the community would not accept them
because she was black and her baby was white. After Constantine got in contact with her
daughter and came back to Jackson, Skeeter s mom gave Constantine a choice; either cut ties
with her daughter or she was fired, she choice to quit and later died, Eugenia had no knowledge
about this because she was away in college, this motivated her to write a book about the lives of
black maids, She understands that nothing is progressing in Jackson for civil rights, so she must
do something, she states But then I realize, like a shell cracking open in my head, there s no
difference between those government laws and Hilly building Aibileen a bathroom in the garage,
except ten minutes worth of signatures in the state capitol (13.92). by this she means that racism is
becoming worse. Eugenia risked her reputation and her personal life to write the

Heath care is the most inevitable domain in human life and is always a major dependency for
everyone across the globe. Health care contributes to a significant part of any country s

threatening diseases which was a major risk for the human community a decade ago, are
preventable or curable in present day. For example, small pox which was a huge danger few
decades ago was completely eradicated worldwide in 1980s due to the health care industry
advancement and intervention. The cost of medical equipment, treatment, professionals was sky
scraping earlier and was affordable only to the elite sector of the society. Nowadays, medical

  • 2. Monuments And Monuments Dbq From Trajan s Column, completed in 113 AD, to the statue of Christopher Columbus in Easton, Pennsylvania, monuments and memorials have been a significant element of celebration and honor throughout history (Source B). Though monuments are typically meant as a symbol of honor, recent controversy over statues dedicated to Confederate leaders and generals has sparked the debate over how to choose subjects to memorialize, and the actual development of these memorials. When considering what or who to honor, one must also consider the subjects impact on history, ensuring that it is positive. In creating memorials and monuments, groups and agencies should examine the historical significance of the events or persons they wish to memorialize, and the... The planners of Mount Rushmore failed to recognize the faux pas of defacing the land of people who were disregarded by those to whom this monument is dedicated. • 3. Sverdlovsk Conspiracy Essay Sverdlovsk 1979: An Unexplained Epidemic When you hear the name Sverdlovsk, you think conspiracy, lies, and deceptions. The reason for this is, the city had been no stranger to such things for nearly a century. Sverdlovsk, now known as Ekaterinburg, is a city in Russia that once had 1.2 million people and was the industrial center of the Ural mountain region (Mangold Goldberg, 1999). It is home to Military Compound 19, an institute built in 1947 used to produce special bacteria and toxins for bio weapons. It also housed roughly 2,000 USSR troops and their families. To the untrained eye, this place looks nothing more than a military garrison. Though, deep in the center there are heavily guarded 10 foot high, double barbed wire fences surrounding a building. The personnel in that building were producing large quantities of dried, powdered anthrax spores (Mangold Goldberg, 1999). Were they using the facility to create biological warfare or were they using it to create a vaccine for anthrax? Despite the possible deception that had been created... This had brought major attention to most European publications, yet the United States (US) government kept quiet because they were waiting for the CIA to find incriminating evidence. With the help from the National Security Agency, the CIA was able to collaborate enough substantiating proof to press the issue forward. They had learned an additional 200 to 300 civilians had possibly died by inhalation of anthrax do to the symptoms that were told by an unnamed credible source. • 4. The Importance of Effective Communication within Doctor-... The importance of effective communication within Doctor Patient relationships. Upon setting out on this placement, it was my intention to study the communication methods and the effectiveness of such by doctors within the multidisciplinary team in order to prepare this assignment. Whilst on placement I was assigned to an On Call Registrar assigned to many consultants at the time. This wasn t particularly ideal as continued contact with patients was not available to me, however there was one patient I recall whom I gained a lot of insight from. We were called to the extension ward of A E where we were presented with a young woman, 19 years of age. She had been sent across from her GP with severe posterior flank pain. A urine test was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We later found out that a urine sample had in fact been obtained at the GP surgery earlier that day, which the patient had falsely claimed it had not. What stood out about this situation to me was that this patient had withheld this vital information from the registrar. It could not be said whether this had been intentional by the patient, however it was decided not to discuss it further with the patient, as this may have hindered the trust and rapport that had already been built. It may have been due to a breakdown in communication between the patient and her GP, but because of the nature of the role in which the registrar had acquired the final outcome of this case, it was not witnessed. Upon our withdrawal from this patient and A E department it was felt that the patient felt a lot happier and more at ease with the care that she had been given so far and what was planned for her. We felt confident in our discussions, that we made the right choice and that this was the right course of action for this particular patient. Initially my feelings regarding this incident were quite harsh and somewhat irrational. My only thoughts were why had this patient lied and concluded that she may be amplifying her symptoms or potentially attention seeking. However, this did not affect my treatment towards this patient and she received the investigation and treatment she needed in which to recover as instructed by the registrar. Soon after this ... Pinnacle Week 6 Video Analysis Report Video Analysis Report Week 6| BUSN460: Senior Project|| After reviewing weeks 5 and 6 video episodes, we the business consultants have found that CanGo still has some issues that must be corrected in order to operate and function effectively. We have carefully evaluated CanGo s issues and will be introducing them as well as providing recommendations to make corrections to help improve the company s problem areas. The first issue was the employee evaluations; very vague. Another that we have noticed is that CanGo is expanding too quickly, another issue that follows CanGo expanding too quickly is that they lack the financial capital to grow so quick. That is what is important, planning ahead and looking at the pros and cons is an effective part of running a business. CanGo is leaving projects half ways. They spent enough money kicking off a project and working on it, and they are cancelling them because they see more opportunities. It is better when a company completes one project to go on to the next. If they cancel a project half ways it is throwing away money and time. They spent so much money and time working on it, so they should complete the project and earn the money on it, maybe even make extra revenue that they can utilize to start a new one. It is always beneficial to complete what you have spent so much on. 5. CanGo managers are trying to add a heavier workload to the employees. • 6. The Principles Of The Company Law, The Uk Cape Industries... The Salomon principle dictates that if the company is established in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006, it starts to operate as a separate legal entity. The corporate veil becomes the dividing line between this entity and its shareholders. However, it soon became obvious that this concept can be easily abused, therefore Courts fought hard in order to establish exceptions to the Salomon principle in the form of lifting or piercing the veil, allowing them to look behind the curtain if they spot some irregularity. In order to justify these drastic measures, Courts would look for something substantive, such as an agency relationship, fraud, avoidance of obligations, or group piercing grounds. In order to determine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As described by Professor Gower, once the company is registered, the corporate veil comes down between the existing company and the shareholders, protecting them from any potential liability. Soon it became apparent that the companies could be easily abused and used for improper purposes. As a response to these developments, Court would use the concepts of lifting and piercing of the veil in order to go behind the veil and attach an appropriate liability to those who were behind it. Lifting of the veil was seen as the least drastic option, as the Court would look behind to see if there is some impropriety, and put the veil down, still recognising the company as a separate legal entity. Whereas piercing would involve tearing up the veil, completely disregarding company as a separate entity and looking at it as an agent for another. The process is very ad hoc, and therefore based on the discretion of the Courts. In order to persuade the Court to look behind the corporate veil, the grounds must be substantive. One of the established exceptions justified by the Court in order to lift the veil is when the evidence shows that the company is being used as a device for avoidance of existing obligations. The good examples of this exception would be the cases of Guildford Motors v Home and Jones v Lipman. In Jones v Lipman Russell J ordered specific performance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Swearing, talking out and yelling can all be considered part of the same response class that are used as a method to gain attention from others. Through the use of differential reinforcement, the students can be taught to produce more appropriate methods of obtaining the desired responses. According to DeRosa, et al (2013), this method of teaching alternative responding has been proven effective in decreasing the likelihood of more severe behaviors from occurring. It isn t love nor greed nor vanity, but sex, ladies and gentlemen. With the evolution of human communication poets have been using the power of words to describe the practice of sex, and the emotions that come with it. And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills Where blossomed many an incense bearing tree; Coleridge constantly relates to nature within Kubla Khan, making it inherent to Romantic poetry, yet this poem is not strictly about nature. At first glance it is description of Coleridge s drug induced version of Paradise, but a common interpretation of Kubla Khan is that it is an allegory for Coleridge s repressed sexual desires and feelings. But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover! A holy place! As holy and enchanted At this point of the poem, connections can be made between his words and sexuality, such as fertile ground and potency, or deep romantic chasm, a metaphor for a part of the female anatomy. He refers to this chasm as holy and enchanted, alluding to the mystery of women. It is almost as if Coleridge himself is mystified and awed up until the point of worship for this chasm that women possess. A savage place! as holy and enchanted As e er beneath a waning moon was haunted By woman wailing for her demon lover! Coleridge paints a vivid picture of a woman tormented by love and desire, wailing with an almost religious fervor. This is accentuated by use of exclamation marks. Thus,

  • 12. The Significance Of A Rose In The War Of The Roses Q: Who was in the war and why was it started? A: The war of the roses was fought between the House of York and the House of Lancaster. These two houses were royal family descending from the head family of England. When king Henry the 6th suddenly fell ill to his first of many insanity spells Richard from the House of Yorkbelieved that he had the right to temporarily take over since he was the great grand son of king Edward the third. Except Queen Margaret had already given birth to the kings first son, his name was Edward of Lancaster. This made Richards claim to the throne a lot weaker since Edward was a direct descendant of the current king. The york s eventually marched against Henry and took him hostage Queen and his son to go into exile. The queen worked to rescue her husband and restore her sons place as the rightful king of England (Wars of the RosesBritish History). 2. Q: What is the significance of a rose in this war and why is it called war of the roses? A: The significance of a rose in this was was that it was one of many symbols used by each house. Although this wasn t there only symbol the York s had a white rose as one of there symbols. The Lancaster s adopted the red rose as a symbol in the 1480 s, this was more towards the end of the war so there s no real significance of a rose in this war. The war was actually called the cousins war until the 19th century when it was changed to the war of the roses (Andrews). 3. Q: How many battles were there and which ... • 13. Persuasive Essay On Spanking A Child Ponder this; you are a parent with only a seven year old child. Your child continues to perform an act that you told them to stop doing, because they have already done it three times before. You have had enough and decided to discipline your child in a way different from a stern discussion. You decide to spank your child. Would you consider the spanking a form of child discipline , or would you consider it child abuse? Are you expecting your child to learn from this disciplinary action, or are you spanking your child because you enjoy knowing that you are in control and that you quite possibly may be injuring your child? According to Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota, The goal of discipline is to create an orderly, predictable, stable, and fun world to enjoy and grow healthy. When it comes to discipling a child, there are many different courses of action that could be taken. Parents can and should discipline their children (Smenyak). There is a large controversy over the most universal discipline method there is, spanking. Many parents believe that spanking their child can be a beneficial way of correcting a child if done correctly (Smenyak). Other parents believe that spanking a child is simply abuse, that it does not work, or that Spanking plants a seed for later violent behavior, says AskDrSears.com. One very simple word that describes discipline is training. A child is not born with the knowledge of what is acceptable or expected. A parent must invest their own time and patience while showing love and exemplary behavior while molding their children into becoming well behaved (Child Abuse vs. Discipline). Being a parent is a hard enough job already, but when it comes to being a parent having to discipline your child, it becomes much harder. It takes time for a child to learn and process new behaviors, and this is a reason a parent must not have a short fuse when it comes to discipling their children. When it comes to discipline, people will either agree that discipline is a crucial way for a child to learn the rules and gain values, or that discipline is abuse. Discipline is a parental response to a certain action that has been taken upon by their child. If a child is expected to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His alters grew in power and created an identity called the Beast , who was capable of changing his own body into a taller and stronger creature who then starts a bone shaking killing spree. This kind of alter is incredibly rare in Dissociative identity disorder cases. Most changes in identity are very casual or subtle, such as a change in tone of voice or attitude, similar to any other person experiencing a mood change. • 16. The Gnostic Gospels By Elaine Pagel The Gnostic Gospels written by Elaine Pagel discusses the origins of the Christian faith and the true reasons behind some of the Christian s beliefs. Pagel claims that the theological disputes between the Orthodox Church and Gnostics in the early stages of Christianity were largely motivated by the political struggle for leadership of the religion. Orthodox Christians supported texts and interpretations to strengthen their goal which was to create an organization of believers. Gnostics, who was not necessarily seeking authority over Christianity, were eventually overshadowed by the supremacy of the Orthodox. Prior to the discovery of the artifact at Nag Hammadi in Egypt 1945 there were only had texts that support the Orthodox Christians belief, now historians were able to fully evaluate the two groups in a new prospective. Some of the writings found in this newly discovered artifact are believed to be the Gospel of Thomas and Mary Magdalene. Although Mary Magdalene does not have a book in the current bible, it is believed by many gnostic Christians that Jesuscame to her in spirit after his death and passed on to her the secret knowledge of enlightenment. The new gospels that were discovered in Nag Hammadi doesn t emphases on the birth or death of Jesus as the current biblical gospels do, but focuses more on Jesus life. Each chapter is devoted to a major theological problem that divides the Orthodox from the Gnostic. Pagel makes a compelling case that theological beliefs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Ethical Dilemmas In Medical Care Although we, as individuals, frequently find ourselves amidst ethical dilemmas as we navigate through our lives every day, none of them are as controversial as those in the field of medicine. Undoubtedly, resolving conflict among principles is a difficult task. In context of medicine, where decisions have a direct correlation to life or death, the gravity of the decisions is magnified. Usually, the source of the dilemma can be linked to conflict within the four main domains: respect for others, beneficence, justice and non maleficence (Wesgate, 2017). In the presentation, Susan Wesgate gave one authentic advice to help us navigate these situations of conflict go back to your moral code . Now, I have not yet been in situations where I am deeply conflicted, but I do hope that when I am, that this advice helps me make decisions. During the presentation, we discussed problems in deciding what will benefit patients, resource allocation, confidentiality, truth telling, the definition of death, informed consent and caring for the terminally ill who may not be able to communicate their own decisions. Among these topics and more which we discussed, I found the concept of faith in relation to medical care the most difficult to navigate. A monarchy is a type of government where the power is passed down generation by generation. The first civilizations practiced monarchism, and up until ancient Greece, Monarchism was the only way of government. Monarchies come in many forms, like Tsardoms and Khanates. Some have many to help rule, others are based solely on their hereditary master. The question is, why are they so famous? It s always been nature for the strongest to rule, up until modern day. Whether it s the strongest in brawn or brains, ruling is dependent upon who can defeat whom. It s not only mankind that practices this method. The humans version of this is just more advanced. Ethical Issues In Bhopal, India ( Union Carbide ) Bhopal, India (Union Carbide) Name University Bhopal, India (Union Carbide) Background and history of the Union Carbide Accident The Union Carbide Accident occurred in 1984 in Bhopal, India. The incident led to a discharge of approximately 30 tons of highly poisonous gases, including methyl isocyanate (MIC). The plant was situated in close proximity to shanty outskirts of the town (Taylor, 2014). Following the incident, close to six hundred thousand people were exposed to the toxic gas. The effects of the incident on human health were manifested through nausea, eye and throat burns and eventually, deaths. In addition, the incident led to retardation of mental development in infants. The average death toll was reported as 15,000 persons. Today, toxic substances are still evident at the site (Taylor, 2014). Ethical Questions or Problems that Came Up Preliminary investigations point out a fundamentally flawed working environment at the facility. There was a fundamental departure from the ASCE Canon that requires engineers to hold paramount the welfare, health and safety of the public ( Code of Ethics, 2016). Simply, the plant was devoid of adequate operational and safety instruments. The available instruments such as MIC refrigerators were of poor quality. This affected the operation of the systems components (Taylor, 2014). The second ethical issue observed was gross negligence by the government to protect public interest. This is not a valid argument: being aware of environmental issues and trying to protect it sadly do not account to not be impacted by environmental degradation. The Mayans method of agriculture, slash and burn, could only support a certain range of the population. • 37. Compare and Contrast Essay of Rikki Tikki Tavi Many people assume that the book and movie of the same story are always very similar, but they are incorrect. In my comparison of the short story Rikki tikki tavi by Rudyard Kipling and the movie of Rikki tikki tavi, I found them to be rather different. There were many minor differences, but the three main topics in the short story that clearly differentiate it from the movie are the setting, the character traits, and the use of humor. The setting in the movie differs from the setting in the short story in a few ways. The setting in the movie dives into larger detail in many of the scenes such as in the beginning flood scene. The flood scene setting in the movie reveals an eerie, strong, storm with a flood that resembles a river and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the very beginning, the character traits in the movie differ from those portrayed in the short story. The ways in which they differ include the various switched roles of characters and other aspects including age and clothing. One of the switched roles is right in the beginning of the movie when the father lifts up Rikki from the sand, whereas in the short story the mother picks him up. Another switched role would be when Darzee s wife explains what happened to their baby egg that was eaten by Nag, but in the short story Darzee does the explaining. One last switched role I came across was how Nag is the instigator who wanted to take over the garden, but in the story it is Nagaina. Some other differences include the age of Teddy and the clothing of the family. In the short story, Rudyard Kiplingcreates Teddy as a young toddler, using words such as nursery to describe the room where he sleeps, but in the movie Teddy appears to be almost ten years old with his fancy clothing and tall height. Surprisingly, the family in the movie wears very nice, neat clothing. This is surprising because of the way Rudyard Kipling describes the setting. With sand, dirt, and a garden, you would presume that it would be a humid climate, which would result in the wearing of sandals and shorts. However, in the movie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The chasm between Vladimir and Estragon continued to grow throughout the play. Within Fight Club, the characters show love but in a sense of ownership in order to hold their masculine title. They also are afraid to love in hopes of becoming vulnerable. Palahniuk wrote, This isn t about love in caring. This is about property as in ownership (Palahniuk 14). This view of love is not positive, as it is used to control others. However, there is irony within this because none of the characters within the novel want to be controlled. I feel that Alice s change in attitude is Carroll s way of insinuating the ridiculousness or hypocrisy in the adult s and society s standard way of thinking. The first scene where the reader sees Alice take hold of her authority is when she becomes incredibly big at the White Rabbit s House. I feel that this scene is very significant because it shows how the shift in Alice s character is set up. In order for Alice to stand up against the Rabbit, she had to become bigger in size. I believe that this scene is a metaphor to how Carroll viewed the ridiculousness of how most adults viewed children, and was a way to show children reading the novel that one day they too will grow bigger in size and have the upper hand on the older adults. This scene also shows the fragility of the power dynamics. Carroll is insinuating that this idea that adults are more knowledgeable or superior because they are bigger than a child is nonsenses and can easily be altered. Once Alice realized she has the authority in herself, the entire dynamics of the story changes. Ren even states, in spite of the awkward inconvenience, (Alice) enjoys her large body size, for it gives her power to fight back (Ren 4). • 45. Theory Of Natural Selection And Genetic Drift Evolution is the process in which various living organisms developed and diversified over time. The study of evolution is important because it helps understand how species adapt to changing environments. Evolution has been studied over time by observing populations when they undergo evolutionary mechanisms such as natural selection or genetic drift. Charles Darwin came up with the theory of natural selection. Darwin believed that living organisms tended to survive and produce more offspring when they were better adapted to their environment. Apart from natural selection, genetic drift was also an important mechanism. Genetic drift occurs when the gene variant changes due to the random testing of organisms. Populations of organisms change over time because of natural selection and genetic drift. The Hardy Weinberg equation is used to observe whether a specific trait within a population is changing or not. A null hypothesis is provided by the Hardy Weinberg equation that can be compared to a straightforward observation of a population. The Hardy Weinberg equation only remains true under the circumstances that the allele and genotype frequencies remain the same as generations continue to come about. When no evolutionary change has occurred, the population is said to be in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. Populations are rarely in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium.
