The Secret Of NIMH Film Analysis
The Secret of NIMH plays with many different filming techniques in order to tell an amazing
story. The story is centered around a widowed mouse, Mrs. Brisby, who s child has fallen ill.
Timmy, one of her children, has fallen ill with ammonia and cannot be moved until he recovers.
This is a problem through because it s almost time for the farmer to begin plowing the fields. If the
familydoes not move they will be killed by the tractor. The tension and emotion of this filmis
excellently enhanced by the lighting, music, shot length and color of each scene. Early on it is
plain to see what Mrs. Brisby s goals are, she wishes to protect her children. The harsh reality of
their world starts with the inciting incident: moving day. Moving day is... Show more content on

The music increases in tempo and becomes louder in order to raise tension. Time is running out
as her home begins to sink. The tempo of the music acts as a clock, ticking away the time Mrs.
Brisby and the rats have to save the children. It mimics her own heart beat as she becomes fearful
for their lives. Once she uses the magic of the stone the music goes from being a terrible thunder to
a voice of triumph. The change in music makes the audience feel the tension release by going from
a loud foreboding sound to a quiet gentle sound. Mrs. Brisby will save her children and
everything will be all right. The lighting also cues the audience in on when the danger has
passed. Along with the music the shots become increasingly low lighted. The light goes dim and
gradually becomes darker with every shot. Once the home had sunken all the way down the
light on Mrs. Brisby fades. It is as if her very life, her will and hope vanish at the presumed loss
of her children. The lighting shows the audience what she feels: sadness, hopelessness, despire
and lost. When she uses the stone and its magic the shot is abruptly interrupted by rays of bright
light, turning the scene from low key lighting to high key lighting. The light is Mrs. Brisby s
bravery, returning her hope and allowing her the will to save her family. It is that beam of light
that inspires hope in Mrs. Brisby and she uses it to pull her home from the mud. It is when she
faces the darkest times that her bravery shines the brightest, both visually and

Analysis Of The Genius Of Alexander The Great
Throughout history, leaders have been recognized for how prosperous or unsuccessful they have
been in their efforts. People, particularly, have come to understand that Alexander was none the
less a powerful and diligent man. He follows all aspect of what it means to be strong willed.
Alexander was a man of courage and influence who strived to complete all that he put his mind to.
Ian Worthington writes. In 334 he invaded Persia, and within a decade he had defeated the Persians,
subdued Egypt, and pushed on to Iran, Afghanistan, and even India (64). When one sees a man of
abundant success it is hard to not give that person credit; however, should his steps to success be
looked over, or taken into detailed consideration. Does the end justify the means or vice versa?
The issue with this idea is the fact that Alexander was in fact great. You cannot overlook the
amount of success Alexander had gained over the years. Per contra to the amount of triumph that
radiates from Alexander, one may argue that respectable morals are without a doubt absent during
his lifetime which strips him of this undeserving name. Is it right to get somewhere the easy way
or should a great leader make all decisions in favor of health and well being within himself and his
people? Throughout the articles The Genius of Alexander the Great by N. G. L. Hammond and
How Great was Alexander? by Ian Worthington, the reader receives a deeper understanding of what
it truly means to be great.

Moving Away
Moving away from all of your best friends can be a real tragedy in a sixteen year old teenagers
life. It s hard to get up and go eight hundred miles away from everyone you know and everything
you grew up around. I had this happen to me about three years ago and it is the largest change I
have ever had to adjust to in my life. It wasn t the changes around me that I was bothered by; it
was that I did not know one living soul for hundreds of miles and all I wanted was a friend.
Two days into the summer after sophomore year at Governor Mifflin High School in the little town
of Shillington Pennsylvania I would find out the worse news that a ... Show more content on

would stop by the
House, start talking to me and all I could do is cry. I knew what I was leaving behind was
something irreplaceable and almost impossible to come by again.
Once my family and I arrived at our new house I was still very saddened because of the move
and had trouble not getting mad at my parents. Summer went bye like it wasn t even there and
by the time school started I was very depressed. The new school I was going to was Naperville
North High School which was about ten times the size of my old school in Pennsylvania in size
and in the number of students. In my school in Pennsylvania there were about twelve students in
each class, here the number runs around thirty two. The school building was so big I had a lot
of trouble getting to class on time let alone finding them in the building. The school wasn t what
I was bothered by the most because it was the fact that I didn t have any social life and I was a
social person. There were a lot of different groups of people at my new high school, it was tough
for me to fit in and meet new people. Everyone just knew me as the new kid and didn t even

Judy Chicago Feminist Analysis
Feminism is an important social movement that works for the equality of people. One way to
express any movement is through art. Judy Chicago and Staceyann Chin are two feminists that
have made an impact with their art. Judy Chicago started art as a young age and cares deeply for
the equality of people. She makes art to be put in galleries as well as making huge installations.
Staceyann Chin is a spoken word poet that uses her words to promote the equality and women,
particularly women of color, and the LGBTQ community. We look into what these women have
done that has made them so influential and how they have impacted art with the feminist

Era Pros And Cons
Almost fifty years after drafting the ERA, the Democratic party united behind its passage. On
August 10th, Martha Griffiths (D Michigan) succeeded in getting the House of Representatives
to pass the ERA on a bipartisan vote of 350 15. The bill would not pass both chambers during the
91st Congress and had to be reintroduced the next year during the 92nd Congress. The vote in
the House in March, 1971 was 354 23 in favor of passage. On March 22, 1972 the Senate voted
84 8 in favor of the ERA, finally passing the ERA and sending it to the States for ratification. The
initial deadline for ratification of the ERA by the states was set for five years, but would eventually

and Pacific Northwest had been uniform in their support for the ERA, the only State of the
former Confederacy to ratify the ERA was Texas, which was an early supporter of the ERA,

Summary Of The Novel Water For Elephants
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen is a novel about the life of an elderly man who spent time in
the nineteen thirties traveling with a circus. This man is Jacob Jankowski. Jacob Jankowski is
around ninety years old and living in an assisted living home, which is depicted as a sort of Hell
on Earth. Throughout the novel it would seem that Jacob Jankowski is suffering from mild
dementia. He often forgets small things like his caretakers names, but he never forgets his time in
the circus. While Jacob Jankowski is living in the assisted living home, the circus comes into
town. This brings back memories. Jankowski begins to have flashbacks in his dreams. The reader
can assume that these flashbacks are caused by the circus coming into town, which Jankowski sees
being set up every day... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I Personally believe that Children Advertising is wrong. When children see ad s on Television
they think that it is okay to be unhealty. They Think it is okay to be obese and to always continue

should be Ban. I think it should be ban because it can cause the child become a serious Impulse
buyer. Also i do think that advertisment to children is wrong because it does show children that
happiness can be bought. Now the Ad on Televison that just showed a group of kids at

Rafaello Sanzio Da Urbino
A picture is worth a thousand words, a phrase many I am sure have heard. Art can symbolize
limitless possibilities because many people perceive things differently. Art can form differing
opinions and produce different feelings for people. Any piece of art is able to do this, just like
Raphael s painting, named the School of Athens. Rafaello Sanzio da Urbino, or Raphael, is regarded
as the leading artistic figure of Italian High Renaissanceclassicism (Biography.com Editors). He is
known for many paintings, one which is widely known, is the School of Athens. The School of
Athens is painted in the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City(TotallyHistory). The painting was painted
from the years of 1509 to 1510; Raphael uses fresco to make this beautiful... Show more content on

In the School of Athens, the background with the blue sky and the entrance make the two
philosophers in the painting seem like godly, or powerful figures who possess knowledge of the
world; they seem like they have descended from the heavens. The painting makes it seem the two
philosophers are entering the church like place to share the knowledge that they carry with them.
The people around them are extracting the knowledge and passing it down to others on the left
and right side of the painting; some of the other individuals are taking notes in the painting and
some are reading a piece of paper or are listening to other philosophers that are present in the
painting. In essence the middle of the painting is where the foundation of knowledge began by two
important figures. That knowledge was then acquired by the individuals who are gathered around
them. The individuals then passed it down to the others, who preside in the left and right of the
painting, which then continued the flow of knowledge from one generation of people to the next.
This is most likely why the painting has the word school in it. School is essentially for passing
knowledge or encouraging thought, which is what we humans do. Composition plays a huge part
in conveying the message of this particular art

Viable Crypto Currency or Investment Bubble Essay
Imagine a currency that can be sent around the globe instantly from one client to another, without
any hefty transaction fees. Although, this achievement is seemingly impossible, Bitcoin, a form
of digitalized monetary value, accomplishes just that. Until recently, money has always been
perceived as a physical note or coin that can be used to make transactions. However, Bitcoin is
basically an encrypted digital block that can be stored in an online wallet and securely stored, sent,
and received via a special network on the Internet (Friedman). Programmed in 2009 by an

Without a bank to manage the supply of this crypto currency, the price is unregulated and proves to
be extremely volatile. This price fluctuation is one quality that is holding the legitimacy of Bitcoin
back because it needs a consistent value for practical use in the monetary world. As speculative
investors buy and sell Bitcoin, the price varies at extreme rates. But in support of Bitcoin s long
term future, the price has shown a steady uptrend in the past year, peaking at around $1200 (See
Apendix I). Eventually, a steady value will be reached to establish the actual price of Bitcoin. The
positive aspect of Bitcoin s decentralization greatly outweighs this temporary problem of volatility.
The lack of the Federal Reserve s regulation essentially allows this virtual currency to eradicate
inflation. Ed Grabianowski describes inflation as a process when a unit of currency loses value
because more units are produced and put into circulation by the regulator in attempts to solve
financial issues ( What Exactly is Inflation? ). Bitcoin does not face this problem since it has a
predetermined supply: 21 million digitalized blocks ( Betting on the Bitcoin Buzz ). Instead of
having a regulator through banks and the government, which can inherently fail, Bitcoin relies on
regulation through a mathematical equation. To comprehend this regulation, the process of mining
must first be understood.

Why Do You Break The Prison Rules You Go To Prison
As Alcatraz s billboard says, You break the rules, you go to prison. You break the prison rules,
you go to Alcatraz. Alcatraz was the prison for gangsters, thieves, and trouble makers. This
prison held the baddest of the bad: Al Capone, Frank Morris, and the Anglin Brothers. Al Capone
was known for being a gangster, while Frank Morris and the Anglin Brothers were great at
escaping and had one of the best escape plans known to Alcatraz history. The brothers made a raft
out of life jackets when they tried to escape the prison. The cells were quite small and fairly plain.
B and C block cells were forty five square feet and each cell had a sink, a cot, and a toilet, there
were 336 cells in the B and C block alone. The D block had more spacious cells but the inmates
had twenty four hour confinement. In the D block, the prisoners got one alone visit to the

inmates. There was one guard for every three prisoners and there were gun galleries at the end of
every block of cells. There were twelve inmate counts per day and the guards knew most of the
inmates by name. Alcatraz closed after many years of service due to the expenses of shipping
food and supplies. The buildings were also starting to crumble because of the salty sea air. In the
end, the prison housed a total of 1,576

China s Rise Of The Current Standing Amongst World Powers
China s rise to their current standing amongst world powers is impressive. China has reached
heights in mere decades that other nations took centuries to get to. Now China is at a potential
watershed moment in its history. The path it goes down will not only affect Chinese history and the
billions of Chinese people, but it will change the path of relations and status throughout the world.
While there are many paths than Chinacan go down, and while it is alway impossible to predict
the future, there are signs that point to one specific direction. This future for China is one where
they continue on the successful path that they have enjoyed for the past few years. In this future,
China soon overtakes the United States as the premier economy and power in the world, and
everything important has to go through China first. This is no guarantee, but due to their
immense producing and consuming capabilities, their upward trend, and their desire to win,
China should remain on their path to success. It has not been an easy rise to this point, and the
closer they get to the top the harder it gets. If China does reach the top however, the bulls will be
correct and they will be the premier power in the world. China has proved itself as a more than
capable producer on the world stage. They received most favored nation status and admission into
the WTO based on their prowess and an economic super power. Now, China continues to build off

Ocean Acidification:
How the Ocean s Declining pH is Destroying Our Environment
Sometimes called climate change s equivalently destructive twin , ocean acidification is becoming
more and more noticeable as the seawater s changing chemistry begins to cause environmental and
economical problems. When the Industrial Revolution began around 1760, fossil fuel powered
machines gained an immense amount of accessibility and popularity. Since then, carbon dioxide
(CO2) levels in the atmosphere have risen enough to change the pH of the world s oceans. Given
that the ocean absorbs almost half of the CO2 that is released into our atmosphere, ocean
acidification is inclining into an even greater problem as fossil fuels become a more common
energy source in our society. Higher acid levels can harm wildlife, disrupt the food chain, and
negatively impact industries that rely on the ocean for business. Ocean acidification is causing
growing dilemmas for both marine ecosystems and ocean based economies. Although many
companies and organizations are attempting to fix this problem, acidification is still threatening to
cause increasingly harmful issues for the future.
Ocean acidification is the constant increase of acidity in the Earth s oceans, caused by the
unceasingly rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Anthropogenic CO2 is mainly
emitted by the burning of fossil fuels, including coal, oil, and natural gas. Since the

Cinderell Disney Vs. Grimm
Cinderella: Disney Vs. Grimm A beautiful young girl, leaves her two step sisters and her
stepmother whom treated her poorly, marries a young prince, and she lives happily ever after. The
fairytale of Cinderella has been one of the most told bedtime stories of all time. Most people can
say they associate the story of Cinderellawith the 1950 version of Walt Disney. Many people are
oblivious of the many versions of this fantasy tale. The original fairytale of Cinderella, by the
Brother s Grimm, was written in 1812 which had many differences from the Walt Disney
version. Like most of Walt Disney s films, they are produced to capture the attention of a certain
type of audience, the young. Since Disney films are targeted to the young, they conclude with a
romance and happy ending. Unfortunately, because of such endings, the original story is being
manipulated taking away from its original content. One of the scenes that have been changed
from its original version are the different rolls of Cinderella s parents, Cinderella s godmother,
Cinderella s character and the stepsisters punishment for being cruel to Cinderella. I believe that
Walt Disney changed some of the original parts of the Brother s Grimm version of the story due
to some the graphic scenes, which did not stay faithful to the original version of Cinderella. Walt
Disney wanted to make the story as kid friendly as possible to attract more audience. As we grow

The Ethical Dilemma Of Smartphone Manufacturer
As technology is advancing in this digital age so is the need to protected people s privacy and to
keep their personal information confidential. As Michael McFarland, of the Markkula Center for
Applied Ethics noted Reverence for the human person as an end in itself and as an autonomous
being requires respect for personal privacy. To lose control of one s personal information is in
some measure to lose control of one s life and one s dignity. Therefore, even if privacy is not in
itself a fundamental right, it is necessary to protect other fundamental rights (Michael McFarland,
2012). It is in the light of this that the ethical dilemma of whether smartphone manufacturer has the
right to track their customer location is the focus of this paper. People s personal and sensitive
information such as medical records, court records, financial records and geolocation information
should be protected and held confidential. Today manufacturer of smartphone embedded beacon in
their device which transmits their customer location. The location data collected are notably used
as part of providing services or for contextual advertising (Electronic Frontier Foundation, 2016).
The three normative ethical principles chosen to analyze this dilemma are autonomy, confidentiality
and respect for persons. There are three important stakeholders involved in this matter, the
smartphone user, the smartphone manufacturer and the government. Under autonomy, the
individual smartphone user have the

Realism Vs Transcendentalism
Transcendentalism, post modernism, absurdism, surrealism, magical realism: literary movements
designed to expand the mind and challenge popular conceptions of what literature truly means.
Socialist realism, on the other hand, was formulated and implemented solely as an attempt to
prevent free thought and limit the mind to the acceptance of one ideology. Aspects of socialist
realismdate back as far as 1860, but it did not become the official state policy of the Soviet Union
until 1932, at which point it changed from an expression of solidarity and respect for the socialist
movement and into a tool of artistic oppression. The Encyclopedia Britannica defines socialist

The official definition of socialist realism is included in the First All Union Congress statutes.
They state, Socialist realism is the basic method of Soviet literature and literary criticism. It
demands of the artist the truthful, historically concrete representation of reality in its
revolutionary development. Moreover, the truthfulness and historical concreteness of the artistic
representation of reality must be linked with the task of ideological transformation and education
of workers in the spirit of socialism. 2 This seemingly simple definition is riddled with
conundrums, dooming socialist realism from the start. It demands authors be truthful, yet writing
about the harsh realities of life within the Soviet Union was grounds for execution. It was
impossible to reconcile the teleological requirement with realistic presentation. The world could
either be depicted as it was or as it should be according to theory, but the two are obviously not
the same. 3 Some authors attempted to straddle the line, writing novels which seemed to support
socialist ideals, but upon a second glance were bitterly satirical; Yuri Olyesha s Envy, published
in 1927, was one such novel. The literary establishment of the time praised the novel, which
criticized Nikolai Kavalerov, a character who is presented as a pathetic, blithering, anti communist.
His benefactor, Andrei Babichev, lives a successful, fulfilling life and supports communism, yet he
lacks emotion and vibrance like Kavalerov. Envy illustrates both a trust in communism s success
as well as a warning against it s impersonal methods Olyesha s view of the Soviet Union. This
trend toward personal interpretation was explained by Mikhail Sholokov, a true supporter of the

Roman Twelve Tables
The Roman republic had set a specific set of laws that each person was suppose to abide by.
These set of laws were known as the Twelve Tables. After reading the selections from the Twelve
Tables, I gather that the Roman society was very strict and harsh, and its conception of justice
was more based on punishment than it was on negotiating the situation and coming to a clear
resolution. The Romans were more blunt with their punishments, they saw black and white , no
grey area when making decisions in court, which means that everything was a yes or no, no one
person had the opportunity to talk about any of their crimes, it was straight to punishment, or if
they were found to be not guilty then they were not punished. In Table IV : Rights of Head of
Family, it expresses just how cruel they were, Quickly kill... a dreadfully deformed child
(Spielvogel p. 116). In my opinion, this law is wicked because no one should be killed just
because of the way that they look, especially if they were born that way and can not help it.
Before the Twelve Tables, there were major problems and struggles. Both of the groups, patricians
and plebeians, were able to vote, but only the patricians were granted the right to be elected to
government positions. They were both able to make legal agreements and have marriages, but it
was forbidden for a patricianand a plebeian to intermarry. There was conflict amongst Rome because

Age And The Importance Of Voting In The United States
Although all Americans have the right over the age of 18, not all citizens vote because of four
common, yet relevant reasons. One s educational level, age, level of income, and prestige of
occupation determine if they will vote or not. First and for most, the education one has is the
single most important factor in predicting whether they vote. Although mostly, all American
citizens know they have the right to vote, they do not know how to get registered or where to
vote. That does seem like a poor excuse, considering we live in a technologybased society and pretty
much anything can be looked up online. Despite the fact that some citizens truly do not understand
the importance of voting, some choose to not understand it. Secondly, age

Differences Between Britain And Spanish Colonization
Britain and Spain shared similar motivations for colonization, but their colonies were vastly
different in many aspects due to differences in their own government and policies. Both countries
created colonies to increase their wealth and expand their economies, but religious freedom played
a factor in British colonization. The fundamental differences between the two countries led to a
difference in the way the colonies of each country interacted with its government. The relationship
of British and Spanish colonists with Native Americans also reflected the differences in the motives
and the government of Britain and Spain. The governing bodies of Britain and Spain shared largely

The British Parliament took a hands off approach in the maintenance of its colonies; it allowed
colonists set up whichever governments and policies they felt were most beneficial to them. The
Spanish monarchy, in contrast, maintained rigid control over its colonies by appointing their
governors and creating their laws without allowing colonists to have a voice in their policies. The
approaches of their respective governments caused vast differences in the economies of the British
and Spanish colonies. British colonies relied on a variety of activities for survival, including
farming and trading; the governments and the locations of each colony determined how it could
best support itself. The economic activity of Spanish colonies was, again, much more rigid. Spanish
colonies had a near universal trading economy, and trade was strictly controlled by the Spanish
monarchy and enforced by its military. The approaches Britain and Spain had towards colonization
were reflected in their treatment of Native Americans. Ultimately, both countries were primarily
interested in the expansion of their empires, the enrichment of their economies and their own
political power, and their treatment of the natives is indicative of these aims. As Spain s only

Academy as a way to fit in with my peers, invoking a great feeling of empathy within me because
I understand what it is like to want to feel included within a greater community. Julie Otsuka
reveals the stark change that begins to occur in the mother s children when she writes, They
preferred their own company to ours and pretended not to understand a word that we said... They

At school, I would find a quiet, empty space to talk to my parents instead of doing so out in the
open. I knew that unlike most of my peers, English is not the primary language spoken at my
home, and I thought I would be criticized for that. Furthermore, the children s choice to eat a more
traditional American breakfast plate can also be seen as a simple act of moving away from their
own culture, adopting a food that less visibly alienates them from the group of classmates they want
to feel similar to. Specifically, the phrase instead of implies that the children have broken a previous
routine of eating bean paste soup, a custom that was clearly established within the family because
the mothers expected them to continue to eat the Japanese dish. Like these children, I have also
seen how the food I eat is a way that makes me noticeably different from my peers. Getting weird

Military Draft No longer Necessary Essay
Military Draft No Longer Necessary
Over forty years has passed since the United States inducted the last draftee through the Selective
Service System. The Selective Service System is an independent agency of the United States,
which gives the President the right or power to conscript men for military service. There have
been different Acts passed by congress since 1917 that require men of various ages to register for
service. Although, the name of each Act and the age requirements of the registries changed, the
Acts were all similar in nature. They all gave the President the right to call men to war when he
deemed necessary. In January 1973, Secretary of Defense Melvin Laird announced the creation of
the all volunteer service, retracting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the conscription ended in 1973, the number of members has grown considerably over the
years. Men and women alike enlist for many different reasons; from educational purposes, for the
adventure, and/or other benefits the military has to offer. Many enlist just because they want to
defend and serve the country they live in and no other reason. However, all that do enlist want to
be there doing what they are doing, not because someone told them they have to. The armed forces
haven t had any problems recruiting, and are recruiting more than their goal. According to the
Department of Defense, they are recruiting anywhere from 100 to 105% of their goal each year.
Which leads to another reason we should not reinstate the draft, the draft is not needed because the
all volunteer forces have been successful in serving our country for over 40 years through both war
and peace. Melvin Laird, Secretary of Defense (1969 1973), stated in his article in the Washington
Post this past February that our volunteer forces have surpassed expectations and they have been
successful by every measure (Wahingtonpost.com). For more than a decade, the U.S. military has
been able to sustain combat in Iraq and Afghanistan while meeting other global responsibilities. The
U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that the current volunteer force is the most
capable in the nation s history (GAO.gov). They found

North America Environmental Changes
1.The introduction to new plants, animals, and technologies altered the natural environment of
North America by impacting its economy and improving the overall natural environment of North
America. For example, after the native new world plants such as tobacco, maize, beans, tomatoes,
and lowly potato eventually revolutionized and drastically improved the international economy, in
return the Old World introduced crops and animals to the Americans(New World

The altering of the environment affected various groups such as, the native people and European
colonizers. For example, the Old World diseases quickly devastated the native Americans. The
population of the Taino natives in Hispaniola drastically shrunk from 1 million people to about
200. Furthermore, because of the rapid spread of germs among the New World people, as many as
90 percent of the population of the Native Americans vanished. This was so severe that entire
cultures and ancient ways of life were gone forever. Agriculture also changed due to the emergence
of modern agriculture. This was started by 2 Germans, Alexander von Humboldt, and Justus von
Liebig. Alexander von Humboldt was the first to take an interest in the indigenous people who
cracked chunks off the rocky cliffs where birds perched along the Peruvian coast. This resulted in
the creation of a powder, chemist Justus von Liebig then recognized that it had high nitrogen and
phosphorus content. The high amount of nitrogen and phosphorus content made it a fascinating
fertilizer, it was called guano. This fertilizer became a very important import product, estimating to

Establishing Architecture For Large Enterprise Solutions
Establishing Architecture for Large Enterprise Solutions in Agile Environment Sujatha Dantuluri
Software Architecture Karsun Solutions LLC Herndon, USA Abstract Companies are adopting
Agile, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean to deliver software faster to the market. These stack
of methodologies ensure early delivery and faster time to recover from mistakes. While developing
software iteratively we need to ensure design and quality are not compromised to speed. SAFe

In order to establish an architecture for a system, we need to know the purpose and scope of the
application, its importance and relationship to the overall strategic goals of the organization
based on known requirements of the system being developed. However in an Agile environment
where the requirements are groomed iteratively and change is constant, establishing architecture
and design would be a daunting task. Especially if the system being developed is large enterprise
level solution, iterative architecture and design could result in a lot of rework and redundancy. If
there are many integration points and functionality spans across multiple applications, defining
enterprise level architecture helps the software being developed to align with strategic goals of
the enterprise, helping business capabilities to be shared across organizations. But establishing
such architecture in an Agile environment would be challenging. This paper addresses this issue
and establishes a process for architecture development for enterprise level applications. The paper
defines a process to develop a software solution which spans across multiple legacy applications
using Agile principles . The approach explained in the paper has been adopted for the
development of software which modernizes legacy data capture and is intended to establish a
framework for enterprise level services in the future. The solution spans across 6 legacy software
systems.

The land of Kosovo has been plagued with tension for hundreds of years, being claimed by several

found that an elevated popular music involvement is a risk factor with respect to teenager s
substance use behavior. More specifically, Chen et al. (2006) found a relationship between teens
who listen to rap music and the use of marijuana. This study included asking teenagers about
their music preferences and whether they had used marijuana or not. This study was conducted
through an anonymous survey. The results of this study showed that teens who listened to rap
music on a regular basis were more likely to use marijuana during their teenage years. In a study
done by Vuolo et al. (2013) they used a survey based in New York to question teenagers about
their music preference. Questions about the use of marijuana were also asked. The results of
this study found that the teens who preferred listening to Hip Hop and rap were 87% more
likely to use marijuana than the teens that listened to alternative rock and pop music. Slater

Voice Recorder, By Charlie Victor
Charlie Victor Romeo, cockpit voice recorder, is a modern theatrical documentary derived
entirely from the Black Box transcripts of six notable concrete airline emergencies. In this
engaging and intensifying documentary, Charlie Victor Romeo positions the audience into
perspective of being inside a tension filled cockpits of authentic flights in distress, which
proposes an intriguing representation of the sensibility in a mid life crisis and a person s life at
jeopardy. The six transcript samples of previous voice recordings came from various air flights
and incidents such as flights American 1572, American Eagle 4184, Aeroperu 603, USAF Yukla
27, Japan Air 123, and United 232. The film primarily portrays a significant purpose of
entertainment and political motives, but also highlights the issue with aviation safety and the usage
of air tragedies to depict it along with the considerate lack of communication and organization
established. Thus, to establish an epidemic, catastrophic disasters must occur to generate great
awareness for the issue, so for a similar disaster to not transpire again. The play opens with a flight
attendant demonstrating the airplane precautions, safety procedures and reminding passengers to
fasten their seat belts and to turn off all cellular devices. Before each new airline scene played, the
film displays the name of the flight, location of trying to land, and number of passengers and crew
members that were on the flight. To present danger within

a rarity now to see people getting out into the world to gain knowledge. Everything is based on

Zombie Consumerism In White Noise by Don DeLillo
Addiction... it is a word that almost everyone is afraid of. The most common addictions are on:
cigarettes, drugs or alcohol. There are million cases all around the world connected with these
kinds of problems. People are concentrating on them and are not aware that there are less severe
kinds such as: Zombie Consumerism. When we buy without thinking, motivated by a super low
price, passion or enormous appetite we are guilty of Zombie Consumerism. Shopping is seen by
many addicts as a release from stress and pain, so it can be assumed the inner working cognitively
for a shopping addict would become similar to that of a drug addict or alcohol addict. The
characters in White Noise are victims of Zombie Consumerism.
One of the main themes around which the novel is structured is death. The characters in this novel
realize that they are surrounded by death and that there is no escape. Even though they are aware
that the death is brought to them upon the products they buy and it causes them to suffer both
physically and mentally, they are ignoring the fact and they turn to the illusive comfort that
consumerism provides. The characters turn to consumerism as a way of escaping death. The
products they buy create some kind of comfort and seem as a solution of many problems. They
become desperate because they believe that buying unnecessary products continuously will help
them with their hopeless situation. Good example for this situation is the drug Dylar. Babette starts

Why Did The Pony Express In 1860
The pony express was significant because it was the America before cars and plane. The pony
express Encountered Indians, robbery, robbery, and weather to deliver vital information and
information that could help America with the current war. The pony express went to April 3, 1860
to October 24, 1861. In my opinion, the pony express men/women fit the theme exchange for
delivering mail, and encounter for 3 reasons. First, the pony express encountered Weather. The
pony express men had to go through mountains and worked through winter. In the winter, there
would be avalanches that would kill the express men and take the mail with them. Other times they
would freeze to death because their horse died or was killed which rendered the express men

Female Circumcision In Africa
Normally, female circumcision (also known as female genital mutilation) is not the topic of
discussion most people would talk about, but for once it should be. Female circumcision is the
cutting or removal of parts or maybe even all of the female genital region. This can take place
during a wide range starting from when a baby girl is first brought into this world all the way
until puberty. The genital mutilation can be performed by an elderly woman in the village or if
the family is wealthy, the surgery can be done by a professional doctor. After the painful surgery, a
ritual is held to honor the young girl for her rite of passage . According to the World Health
Organization (WHO), there are four main types: clitoridectomy, excision, infibulation,... Show more

For example, in order for a young woman to inherit land and get married, she had to be
circumcised (Female Genital Mutilation 17). It is believed that being circumcised is a way to
ensure that the girl is pure and stays pure until she is wed off. Africa is mostly male dominant so
it is often times, the man s right to go have his daughter circumcised so when she does become a
wife, she can satisfy the man. This is usually resulted due to the mother s social status as where
she cannot speak out against it. It is very seldom, as well, that a girl will volunteer to have this
done to her due to peer pressure. If one was not circumcised, then she could not be wed and
would be looked down upon by the people in her village. Furthermore, the surgery may be forced
upon because a family member who is concern about the disgrace that could be brought upon the
family s reputation, may secretly have the girl circumcised without the mother even knowing.
Possibly originating in Africa, which there is no known evidence, a female undergoes
circumcision. Female circumcision is a process of which various alterations to her genital area. is
occurred during anytime in a girl s life once she is born until she reaches puberty. She may just
have part of her clitoris removed or she may have her clitoris, labia minora, and labia majora
removed. All of this is done so she can

Activism In The Hunger Games
Today is Martin Luther King Day. Martin Luther King Junior was highly known for his activism
during the Civil Rights Movement. In his final Mountaintop speech, he proclaimed, The nation
is sick. Trouble is in the land; confusion all around. That s a strange statement. But I know,
somehow, that only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. And I see God working ... in a
way that men, in some strange way, are responding. Something is happening in our world. The
masses of people are rising up. (1) Martin Luther King Junior was a symbol of hope for equality for
the oppressed, peace for the nation, and most of all, love, for all people. This is a similar theme
found in Mockingjay. As The Hunger Games Trilogy comes to a close, Katniss Everdeen has
survived two Hunger Games only to find her district annihilated, her closest... Show more content

She volunteered to take her sister s occupation as a tribute for the 74th Hunger Games not
because she was attempting to be a heroine. However, this move was what catapulted her into
various tiers of activism. Her climatic activism occurred in Mockingjay. Everything she went
through led her to a place where she felt no option but to fight for equality, peace and love for her
people. She battled for complete equality for all 13 districts of Panem, sacrificed herself as a
whole for others safety, and in the resolution, she gave hope for the freedom to love. As the
Hunger Games trilogy draws to close, Katniss finally embraces the tender future ahead. She
might have felt like Martin Luther King Junior when he said, Darkness cannot drive out
darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. If you can t fly
then run, if you can t run then walk, if you can t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have
to keep moving forward. Free at last, Free at last, Thank God almighty, we are free at last.

Wednesday Wars By William Shakespeare
The quality of mercy is not strained, is a line from the Shakespeare play The Merchant of
Venice. This line is used in the book Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt. This line means that
people should not be forced to be kind or show mercy. Showing mercy is something that should
happen naturally in humans and not be to benefit themselves or be forced to do it. It should
come from the kindness of your heart. Relating to the plot line of Wednesday Wars, the mean old
teacher, Mrs. Baker, shows mercy towards one of her students, Holling Hoodhood, when Holling
brings in cream puffs for the whole class to eat, but the class rats eat and destroy all of the cream
puffs. To illustrate, the text states, Thank you for the cream puffs, I said. The quality of mercy is
not stained, she said. Mrs. Baker looked up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thinks about the racism and hate toward immigrants from Vietnam and the people that died
in the war, and realizes that not everything has a happy ending. To illustrate, the narration states,
That s how it is in Shakespeare. But Shakespeare was wrong. Sometimes there isn t a Prospero to
make everything fine again. And sometimes the quality of mercy is strained (page 72). The
meaning behind this quote is very true to reality. It means that with all the bad things going on
in the world, there is not always someone to be the knight in shining armor, or to be the good guy
and save the day. People are not always nice to each other. Sometimes tragedies happen, and even
though they are never happen, it is just part of life. Happy endings always occur in stories or
plays, but not in the real world. So while the quality of mercy is not strained in acts of kindness,
that does not happen very often and in most instances, the quality of mercy is

Analysis Of Mama In A Raisin In The Sun
In the play A Raisin in the Sun Mama has the role of being a mother figure for all of the
characters. She is a very outgoing women who loves her family. Overall, Mama wants her
family to succeed in life. In addition, when it comes to momentous family decisions she does
what she believes is best for everyone. However, other members of family sometimes have
contradicting beliefs, which makes them feel like their house is matriarchal. I believe that their
house is Matriarchal, but Mama s decisiveness is for the best of everyone. In conclusion, Mama is
not a tyrant because she makes decisions for the best of her family, the money belongs to her, and
she wants to see her dream come true.
All of Mama s conclusions are made because she has hope that it will help her family in the future.
When she orders people to do things her reasoning is love. When Travis doesn t do his household
chores. Mama will do it, but not because she wants him to be spoiled, but for him experience a nice
life. Adding to that, she does not want Travis to learn how to work at a young age because then he
will never be able undergo that great life. With him not being able to have a nice live might result
and his dreams getting crushed. Mama once said to Ruth what you fix for his breakfast (Act1 sc2).
Ruth then became very defensive and made sure Mama knew she feeds Travis. In this Ruth is
interpreting Mama s intentions the wrong way. Mama is just checking in, so she knows that not

Biography of Mark Twain Essay
Biography of Mark Twain Twain, Mark, pseudonym of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835
1910), American writer and humorist, whose best work is characterized by broad, often
irreverent humor or biting social satire. Twain s writing is also known for realism of place and
language, memorable characters, and hatred of hypocrisy and oppression. Born in Florida,
Missouri, Clemens moved with his family to Hannibal, Missouri, a port on the Mississippi River,
when he was four years old. There he received a public school education. After the death of his
father in 1847, Clemens was apprenticed to two Hannibal printers, and in 1851 he began setting
type for and contributing sketches to his brother Orion s Hannibal Journal. Subsequently he... Show

In 1870 he married Olivia Langdon. After living briefly in Buffalo, New York, the couple
moved to Hartford, Connecticut. Much of Twain s best work was written in the 1870s and
1880s in Hartford or during the summers at Quarry Farm, near Elmira, New York. Roughing It
(1872) recounts his early adventures as a miner and journalist; The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
(1876) celebrates boyhood in a town on the Mississippi River; A Tramp Abroad (1880) describes
a walking trip through the Black Forest of Germany and the Swiss Alps; The Prince and the
Pauper (1882), a children s book, focuses on switched identities in Tudor England; Life on the
Mississippi (1883) combines an autobiographical account of his experiences as a river pilot with
a visit to the Mississippi nearly two decades after he left it; A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur
s Court (1889) satirizes oppression in feudal England (see Feudalism). The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn (1884), the sequel to Tom Sawyer, is considered Twain s masterpiece. The
book is the story of the title character, known as Huck, a boy who flees his father by rafting down
the Mississippi River with a runaway slave, Jim. The pair s adventures show Huck (and the
reader) the cruelty of which men and women are capable. Another theme of the novel is the
conflict between Huck s feelings of friendship with Jim, who is one of the

What Does Fate In A Prayer For Owen Meany
Fate is a common theme in many cultures, with people either attempting to rebel against it or
embracing it. However, throughout these stories, people very rarely break away from their
destiny. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving is a story where fate is heavily involved, with
the main character Owen Meany receiving visions of the futureand accepting his destiny. Owen
Meany demonstrates that fate is inescapable, and should be embraced. Unlike most stories
involving fate, A Prayer for Owen Meanydoes not focus on God or divine power, and is instead
closer to magical realism. Throughout the novel, the author withholds information, constantly
changes the time as he is narrating, and has many people do not believe in the miracles of Owen
Meany. A Prayer for Owen Meany can fit in many categories, but with these aspects of magical
realism, it is the best genre to put it in.
The story is told as Johnny narrates it, looking back on his childhood, and he includes any
stories he believes are important to understanding the development of himself and Owen. While
telling these stories, he constantly changes the part of his childhood he is talking about. Besides
the sudden jumps in years, Johnny also skips over days or even weeks at once, not bothering to
explain what happened during that time. At one point, he is talking about how he could see
Owen was at least as high as the palm trees (Irving 626). In the very next sentence, he skips
presumably weeks ahead, to talk about how Major Rawls saw to it that Owen Meany got a
medal (Irving 626). Time being nonlinear is an aspect of magical realism, and with all the jumps
and skips, the timeline is very strange and a little difficult to piece together. The jumping of time
also plays into the theme of fate a little, as fate is all about the future. Telling the future before
previous events are explained makes the reader feel like Owen, knowing some of the future but
not the events that lead up to it. Not knowing information is also an aspect of magical realism, and
several major subplots involve the past the author keeps hidden. For two thirds of the book, and ten
years of his life, Johnny does not know who his father is, or what unspeakable outrage the Catholic
church

Analysis Of The World Of Doublespeak By William Lutz
In the essay The World of Doublespeak , by William Lutz, the author gives the reader four different
questions to help one identify doublespeak. According to Lutz these questions are, who is saying
what to whom, under what conditions and circumstances, with what intent, and with what results?
(par. 4). These questions help to distinguish between truthful language and doublespeak. The first
question, who is saying what to whom? focuses on the relationship between the two people. The
chance of doublespeak being present increases greatly when the two people have a negative, or
passive aggressive, relationship. The next question, under what conditions and circumstances?
focuses on the events of what is going on. This question shows up prominently in events such as
political rallies and debates. The third question, with what intent focuses on the underlying goal of
the statement. This question raises the most suspicion, as it makes one really think about whether
there is doublespeak present. The final question what results ties in on the intent. The outcome of
the doublespeak will be different that that of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains that the cause of doublespeak is usually to evade making a problematic situation sound
very bad. For example, in 1984 the US State Department announced it would no longer use the word
killing in its annual report on the status of human rights around the world (par. 7). By doing this, it
eludes the readers into believing that the US does not have relations with nations that kill people.
Although the US continues to have relations with nations that kill people, the statements refer to
those nations as those that have unlawful or arbitrary deprivation of life happening instead of
murder. This effect results in tricking the people into false assumptions of the US s relations with

Callaway Golf Case Study
Callaway Golf Company
LaToya Owens, Chris McMullin, Robb Spears and Crystal Shumpert
Indiana Wesleyan University
Key Success Factors Callaway Golf Company s (CGC) had seven key success factors to include:
the founder s vision; product design; pricing; product development; sales; marketing and the media.
The founder, Ely Callaway s vision is: If we make a truly more satisfying product for the average
golfer, not the professionals, and make it pleasingly different form the competition, the company
would be successful. However, this vision is change from other company s visions; the difference
being that the price is not mention. Product design: CGC introduced three new designs in golf clubs

CGC had to be on the leading edge of the latest technology and also exceed the customer s
expectations. Research and development was a critical part of its success and future success
that CGC had to place major focus on. They had to maintain their market edge plus solidify their
hold as the market leader by consistently releasing new models that differentiated it from
competitor s products and CGC s own products as well. If a product stayed in the market too
long, the sales would eventually peak and then start a downward trend, so getting out at the
peak is the key. With the product differentiation being one key to Callaway s success, the next
focused on the consumer knowledge of the piece of equipment. New technology is good for the
golfing community, but if no golfer is aware of the product or how to use it to its fullest
potential, the customer will quickly become dissatisfied. The CGC used television, golf
magazines, trade publications, and word of mouth as its primary forms of advertising. The
company also endorsed professional golfers on all five major tours (PGA, LPGA, Senior PGA,
European PGA, and NIKE) as a vehicle to promote its products. CGC used these professional
endorsements more as a validation of the effectiveness of the product in its marketing campaign.
With the professional endorsement by these golfers, the target market was able to see the product
in action and also learn how to properly use them. With practice, these average

Greeks compared to the Mayans

Looking around too all the different ethnicities that can be found in this world, two of those most

Portrayal Of Women In The Iliad
Aristotle, in Politics says, The courage of a man is shown in commanding, of a woman in
obeying. 1 The statement more or less sums up how the Greek viewed their women. Not only
were they subjugated to men, but also, were in a position comparable to slaves. Their prime duty
lay in obeying there masters, which for women were the men or kurios i.e. guardian. Having said
that, let us look at the portrayal of women in the Greek literary sphere. In Homer s The Iliad,
Helen of Troy, the face that launched a thousand ships is shown to be the prime bone of contention
between the Greek and the Trojans. She is invested with the power to have made a thousand ships
set sail to Troy to bring her back, which is immediately punctured with the fact that... Show more

The statement itself is complex in the context of the play. If we believe that his reason for
marriage is ensuring a secure future of his line which can be true because he himself was of a
royal household it is ironical that for royal progeny he betrays Medea but criticizes the entire female
sex for begetting children. Royal or not, Jason is an exile in Corinth. To beable to pave way into the
mainstream he chooses marriage into the royal household. His children withthe princess would
be the kin to the heir apparent and in case the king s son s line would be extinguished at some
point of time, it would be Jason s that would inherit the kingdom. He confesses to Medea of
wishing to have children with the princess around line 565, and barely 10 lines later has he
criticized the very instrument of his ticket to royalty. Thus, this statement is paradoxical in itself.
There is no point delving into the mind of Jason for here he is not a person but a character who
vocalizes what the playwright wants him to say. So, we need to understand Euripides intention of
this statement. Euripides has portrayed Medea as a character who refuses to fit into the mould
Athens has created for its women. Medea, the sorceress can unhinge the King s peace of

  • 2. The Secret Of NIMH Film Analysis The Secret of NIMH plays with many different filming techniques in order to tell an amazing story. The story is centered around a widowed mouse, Mrs. Brisby, who s child has fallen ill. Timmy, one of her children, has fallen ill with ammonia and cannot be moved until he recovers. This is a problem through because it s almost time for the farmer to begin plowing the fields. If the familydoes not move they will be killed by the tractor. The tension and emotion of this filmis excellently enhanced by the lighting, music, shot length and color of each scene. Early on it is plain to see what Mrs. Brisby s goals are, she wishes to protect her children. The harsh reality of their world starts with the inciting incident: moving day. Moving day is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The music increases in tempo and becomes louder in order to raise tension. Time is running out as her home begins to sink. The tempo of the music acts as a clock, ticking away the time Mrs. Brisby and the rats have to save the children. It mimics her own heart beat as she becomes fearful for their lives. Once she uses the magic of the stone the music goes from being a terrible thunder to a voice of triumph. The change in music makes the audience feel the tension release by going from a loud foreboding sound to a quiet gentle sound. Mrs. Brisby will save her children and everything will be all right. The lighting also cues the audience in on when the danger has passed. Along with the music the shots become increasingly low lighted. The light goes dim and gradually becomes darker with every shot. Once the home had sunken all the way down the light on Mrs. Brisby fades. It is as if her very life, her will and hope vanish at the presumed loss of her children. The lighting shows the audience what she feels: sadness, hopelessness, despire and lost. When she uses the stone and its magic the shot is abruptly interrupted by rays of bright light, turning the scene from low key lighting to high key lighting. The light is Mrs. Brisby s bravery, returning her hope and allowing her the will to save her family. It is that beam of light that inspires hope in Mrs. Brisby and she uses it to pull her home from the mud. It is when she faces the darkest times that her bravery shines the brightest, both visually and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Genius Of Alexander The Great Throughout history, leaders have been recognized for how prosperous or unsuccessful they have been in their efforts. People, particularly, have come to understand that Alexander was none the less a powerful and diligent man. He follows all aspect of what it means to be strong willed. Alexander was a man of courage and influence who strived to complete all that he put his mind to. Ian Worthington writes. In 334 he invaded Persia, and within a decade he had defeated the Persians, subdued Egypt, and pushed on to Iran, Afghanistan, and even India (64). When one sees a man of abundant success it is hard to not give that person credit; however, should his steps to success be looked over, or taken into detailed consideration. Does the end justify the means or vice versa? The issue with this idea is the fact that Alexander was in fact great. You cannot overlook the amount of success Alexander had gained over the years. Per contra to the amount of triumph that radiates from Alexander, one may argue that respectable morals are without a doubt absent during his lifetime which strips him of this undeserving name. Is it right to get somewhere the easy way or should a great leader make all decisions in favor of health and well being within himself and his people? Throughout the articles The Genius of Alexander the Great by N. G. L. Hammond and How Great was Alexander? by Ian Worthington, the reader receives a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be great. Author N.G.L. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. moving away Essay Moving Away Moving away from all of your best friends can be a real tragedy in a sixteen year old teenagers life. It s hard to get up and go eight hundred miles away from everyone you know and everything you grew up around. I had this happen to me about three years ago and it is the largest change I have ever had to adjust to in my life. It wasn t the changes around me that I was bothered by; it was that I did not know one living soul for hundreds of miles and all I wanted was a friend. Two days into the summer after sophomore year at Governor Mifflin High School in the little town of Shillington Pennsylvania I would find out the worse news that a ... The hardest part for me was having to say goodbye to all my friends I knew since I was little, they would stop by the House, start talking to me and all I could do is cry. I knew what I was leaving behind was something irreplaceable and almost impossible to come by again. Once my family and I arrived at our new house I was still very saddened because of the move and had trouble not getting mad at my parents. Summer went bye like it wasn t even there and by the time school started I was very depressed. The new school I was going to was Naperville North High School which was about ten times the size of my old school in Pennsylvania in size and in the number of students. In my school in Pennsylvania there were about twelve students in each class, here the number runs around thirty two. The school building was so big I had a lot of trouble getting to class on time let alone finding them in the building. The school wasn t what I was bothered by the most because it was the fact that I didn t have any social life and I was a social person. There were a lot of different groups of people at my new high school, it was tough for me to fit in and meet new people. • 6. Era Pros And Cons Almost fifty years after drafting the ERA, the Democratic party united behind its passage. On August 10th, Martha Griffiths (D Michigan) succeeded in getting the House of Representatives to pass the ERA on a bipartisan vote of 350 15. The bill would not pass both chambers during the 91st Congress and had to be reintroduced the next year during the 92nd Congress. The vote in the House in March, 1971 was 354 23 in favor of passage. On March 22, 1972 the Senate voted 84 8 in favor of the ERA, finally passing the ERA and sending it to the States for ratification. On July 10th, 1977 Alice Paul, who had been so instrumental in the cause of Suffrage and the ERA died at the age of 92. At the time of her death thirty five states had voted to ratify. One of the states that ratified the ERA in one chamber, but not the other was North Carolina. Writing in the Spring 1978 edition of Signs Theodore S. Arrington and Patricia A. By a vote of only three votes in 1975 in North Carolina. The culture among Republican supporters of the late 70s had shifted away from those who first embraced the ERA in 1940. While the New England states, Rust Belt and Pacific Northwest had been uniform in their support for the ERA, the only State of the former Confederacy to ratify the ERA was Texas, which was an early supporter of the ERA, ratifying in 1972. • 9. Rafaello Sanzio Da Urbino A picture is worth a thousand words, a phrase many I am sure have heard. Art can symbolize limitless possibilities because many people perceive things differently. Art can form differing opinions and produce different feelings for people. Any piece of art is able to do this, just like Raphael s painting, named the School of Athens. Rafaello Sanzio da Urbino, or Raphael, is regarded as the leading artistic figure of Italian High Renaissanceclassicism (Biography.com Editors). He is known for many paintings, one which is widely known, is the School of Athens. The School of Athens is painted in the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City(TotallyHistory). The painting was painted from the years of 1509 to 1510; Raphael uses fresco to make this beautiful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the School of Athens, the background with the blue sky and the entrance make the two philosophers in the painting seem like godly, or powerful figures who possess knowledge of the world; they seem like they have descended from the heavens. The painting makes it seem the two philosophers are entering the church like place to share the knowledge that they carry with them. The people around them are extracting the knowledge and passing it down to others on the left and right side of the painting; some of the other individuals are taking notes in the painting and some are reading a piece of paper or are listening to other philosophers that are present in the painting. In essence the middle of the painting is where the foundation of knowledge began by two important figures. That knowledge was then acquired by the individuals who are gathered around them. The individuals then passed it down to the others, who preside in the left and right of the painting, which then continued the flow of knowledge from one generation of people to the next. This is most likely why the painting has the word school in it. School is essentially for passing knowledge or encouraging thought, which is what we humans do. Composition plays a huge part in conveying the message of this particular art ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Viable Crypto Currency or Investment Bubble Essay Imagine a currency that can be sent around the globe instantly from one client to another, without any hefty transaction fees. Although, this achievement is seemingly impossible, Bitcoin, a form of digitalized monetary value, accomplishes just that. Until recently, money has always been perceived as a physical note or coin that can be used to make transactions. However, Bitcoin is basically an encrypted digital block that can be stored in an online wallet and securely stored, sent, and received via a special network on the Internet (Friedman). Programmed in 2009 by an anonymous group known as Satoshi Nakomoto, (Timpane), Bitcoin appeared on online exchanges as the world s first decentralized virtual currency. It has been bought and sold... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without a bank to manage the supply of this crypto currency, the price is unregulated and proves to be extremely volatile. This price fluctuation is one quality that is holding the legitimacy of Bitcoin back because it needs a consistent value for practical use in the monetary world. As speculative investors buy and sell Bitcoin, the price varies at extreme rates. But in support of Bitcoin s long term future, the price has shown a steady uptrend in the past year, peaking at around $1200 (See Apendix I). Eventually, a steady value will be reached to establish the actual price of Bitcoin. The positive aspect of Bitcoin s decentralization greatly outweighs this temporary problem of volatility. The lack of the Federal Reserve s regulation essentially allows this virtual currency to eradicate inflation. Ed Grabianowski describes inflation as a process when a unit of currency loses value because more units are produced and put into circulation by the regulator in attempts to solve financial issues ( What Exactly is Inflation? ). Bitcoin does not face this problem since it has a predetermined supply: 21 million digitalized blocks ( Betting on the Bitcoin Buzz ). Instead of having a regulator through banks and the government, which can inherently fail, Bitcoin relies on regulation through a mathematical equation. To comprehend this regulation, the process of mining must first be understood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alcatraz was the prison for gangsters, thieves, and trouble makers. This prison held the baddest of the bad: Al Capone, Frank Morris, and the Anglin Brothers. Al Capone was known for being a gangster, while Frank Morris and the Anglin Brothers were great at escaping and had one of the best escape plans known to Alcatraz history. The brothers made a raft out of life jackets when they tried to escape the prison. The cells were quite small and fairly plain. B and C block cells were forty five square feet and each cell had a sink, a cot, and a toilet, there were 336 cells in the B and C block alone. Soon after that, 100 cannons were installed. This small island was home to the first lighthouse on the West Coast and later it held military prisoners. They made this island the home of Alcatraz because they knew nobody could swim to the shore and survive. Guards at Alcatraz were very careful about keeping track of inmates. There was one guard for every three prisoners and there were gun galleries at the end of every block of cells. There were twelve inmate counts per day and the guards knew most of the inmates by name. China has reached heights in mere decades that other nations took centuries to get to. Now China is at a potential watershed moment in its history. The path it goes down will not only affect Chinese history and the billions of Chinese people, but it will change the path of relations and status throughout the world. While there are many paths than Chinacan go down, and while it is alway impossible to predict the future, there are signs that point to one specific direction. This future for China is one where they continue on the successful path that they have enjoyed for the past few years. In this future, China soon overtakes the United States as the premier economy and power in the world, and everything important has to go through China first. This is no guarantee, but due to their immense producing and consuming capabilities, their upward trend, and their desire to win, China should remain on their path to success. It has not been an easy rise to this point, and the closer they get to the top the harder it gets. If China does reach the top however, the bulls will be correct and they will be the premier power in the world. China has proved itself as a more than capable producer on the world stage. They received most favored nation status and admission into the WTO based on their prowess and an economic super power. • 14. Ocean Acidification Is Destroying Our Environment Evelyn Yang Nick Grossenbacher Essay Writing A July 6, 2015 Ocean Acidification: How the Ocean s Declining pH is Destroying Our Environment Sometimes called climate change s equivalently destructive twin , ocean acidification is becoming more and more noticeable as the seawater s changing chemistry begins to cause environmental and economical problems. When the Industrial Revolution began around 1760, fossil fuel powered machines gained an immense amount of accessibility and popularity. Since then, carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere have risen enough to change the pH of the world s oceans. Given that the ocean absorbs almost half of the CO2 that is released into our atmosphere, ocean acidification is inclining into an even greater problem as fossil fuels become a more common energy source in our society. Higher acid levels can harm wildlife, disrupt the food chain, and negatively impact industries that rely on the ocean for business. Ocean acidification is causing growing dilemmas for both marine ecosystems and ocean based economies. Although many companies and organizations are attempting to fix this problem, acidification is still threatening to cause increasingly harmful issues for the future. Ocean acidification is the constant increase of acidity in the Earth s oceans, caused by the unceasingly rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Grimm A beautiful young girl, leaves her two step sisters and her stepmother whom treated her poorly, marries a young prince, and she lives happily ever after. The fairytale of Cinderella has been one of the most told bedtime stories of all time. Most people can say they associate the story of Cinderellawith the 1950 version of Walt Disney. Many people are oblivious of the many versions of this fantasy tale. The original fairytale of Cinderella, by the Brother s Grimm, was written in 1812 which had many differences from the Walt Disney version. Like most of Walt Disney s films, they are produced to capture the attention of a certain type of audience, the young. Since Disney films are targeted to the young, they conclude with a romance and happy ending. Unfortunately, because of such endings, the original story is being manipulated taking away from its original content. One of the scenes that have been changed from its original version are the different rolls of Cinderella s parents, Cinderella s godmother, Cinderella s character and the stepsisters punishment for being cruel to Cinderella. I believe that Walt Disney changed some of the original parts of the Brother s Grimm version of the story due to some the graphic scenes, which did not stay faithful to the original version of Cinderella. Walt Disney wanted to make the story as kid friendly as possible to attract more audience. As we grow up we are told by our parents that being kind and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Ethical Dilemma Of Smartphone Manufacturer As technology is advancing in this digital age so is the need to protected people s privacy and to keep their personal information confidential. As Michael McFarland, of the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics noted Reverence for the human person as an end in itself and as an autonomous being requires respect for personal privacy. To lose control of one s personal information is in some measure to lose control of one s life and one s dignity. Therefore, even if privacy is not in itself a fundamental right, it is necessary to protect other fundamental rights (Michael McFarland, 2012). It is in the light of this that the ethical dilemma of whether smartphone manufacturer has the right to track their customer location is the focus of this paper. People s personal and sensitive information such as medical records, court records, financial records and geolocation information should be protected and held confidential. Today manufacturer of smartphone embedded beacon in their device which transmits their customer location. Realism Vs Transcendentalism Transcendentalism, post modernism, absurdism, surrealism, magical realism: literary movements designed to expand the mind and challenge popular conceptions of what literature truly means. Socialist realism, on the other hand, was formulated and implemented solely as an attempt to prevent free thought and limit the mind to the acceptance of one ideology. Aspects of socialist realismdate back as far as 1860, but it did not become the official state policy of the Soviet Union until 1932, at which point it changed from an expression of solidarity and respect for the socialist movement and into a tool of artistic oppression. The Encyclopedia Britannica defines socialist realism as the, Officially sanctioned theory and method of literary composition... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The official definition of socialist realism is included in the First All Union Congress statutes. They state, Socialist realism is the basic method of Soviet literature and literary criticism. It demands of the artist the truthful, historically concrete representation of reality in its revolutionary development. Moreover, the truthfulness and historical concreteness of the artistic representation of reality must be linked with the task of ideological transformation and education of workers in the spirit of socialism. 2 This seemingly simple definition is riddled with conundrums, dooming socialist realism from the start. It demands authors be truthful, yet writing about the harsh realities of life within the Soviet Union was grounds for execution. It was impossible to reconcile the teleological requirement with realistic presentation. The world could either be depicted as it was or as it should be according to theory, but the two are obviously not the same. 3 Some authors attempted to straddle the line, writing novels which seemed to support socialist ideals, but upon a second glance were bitterly satirical; Yuri Olyesha s Envy, published in 1927, was one such novel. The literary establishment of the time praised the novel, which criticized Nikolai Kavalerov, a character who is presented as a pathetic, blithering, anti communist. His benefactor, Andrei Babichev, lives a successful, fulfilling life and supports communism, yet he lacks emotion and vibrance like Kavalerov. Envy illustrates both a trust in communism s success as well as a warning against it s impersonal methods Olyesha s view of the Soviet Union. This trend toward personal interpretation was explained by Mikhail Sholokov, a true supporter of the genre, Socialist realism is the art of the truth of life, comprehended and interpreted by the artist from ... After reading the selections from the Twelve Tables, I gather that the Roman society was very strict and harsh, and its conception of justice was more based on punishment than it was on negotiating the situation and coming to a clear resolution. The Romans were more blunt with their punishments, they saw black and white , no grey area when making decisions in court, which means that everything was a yes or no, no one person had the opportunity to talk about any of their crimes, it was straight to punishment, or if they were found to be not guilty then they were not punished. In Table IV : Rights of Head of Family, it expresses just how cruel they were, Quickly kill... a dreadfully deformed child (Spielvogel p. 116). In my opinion, this law is wicked because no one should be killed just because of the way that they look, especially if they were born that way and can not help it. Before the Twelve Tables, there were major problems and struggles. Both of the groups, patricians and plebeians, were able to vote, but only the patricians were granted the right to be elected to government positions. First and for most, the education one has is the single most important factor in predicting whether they vote. Especially if the system being developed is large enterprise level solution, iterative architecture and design could result in a lot of rework and redundancy. If there are many integration points and functionality spans across multiple applications, defining enterprise level architecture helps the software being developed to align with strategic goals of the enterprise, helping business capabilities to be shared across organizations. But establishing such architecture in an Agile environment would be challenging. This paper addresses this issue and establishes a process for architecture development for enterprise level applications. No words in the vernacular can describe this great event, you ll be dumb with wonderment... And on top of your fee, you ll be involved artistically.
It is with these words that Harold Zidler the owner of the titular nightclub in Baz Luhrmann s Moulin Rouge! describes a theatre play to his financier, and at the same time, fittingly describes not only the key features of Moulin Rouge!, but also the defining characteristics of Luhrmann s signature genre, Red Curtain Cinema , to the audience of the film. The term, coined by the director himself, is distinguished by films that follow a simple, recognisable narrative set in a world of heightened reality : Luhrmann describes the central parameters as a simple, even naГЇve story based on a primary myth...set in a heightened interpretation of a world that is at once familiar yet distant and exotic . The use of music, set, costumes, as well as more technical features such as rapid cuts and editing are employed to make the simple story more dramatic, amplifying the movie experience to a degree that viewers are made wholly aware of the artistry and technology involved. In this engaging and intensifying documentary, Charlie Victor Romeo positions the audience into perspective of being inside a tension filled cockpits of authentic flights in distress, which proposes an intriguing representation of the sensibility in a mid life crisis and a person s life at jeopardy. The six transcript samples of previous voice recordings came from various air flights and incidents such as flights American 1572, American Eagle 4184, Aeroperu 603, USAF Yukla 27, Japan Air 123, and United 232. The film primarily portrays a significant purpose of entertainment and political motives, but also highlights the issue with aviation safety and the usage of air tragedies to depict it along with the considerate lack of communication and organization established. Thus, to establish an epidemic, catastrophic disasters must occur to generate great awareness for the issue, so for a similar disaster to not transpire again. The play opens with a flight attendant demonstrating the airplane precautions, safety procedures and reminding passengers to fasten their seat belts and to turn off all cellular devices. • 48. What Does Fate In A Prayer For Owen Meany Fate is a common theme in many cultures, with people either attempting to rebel against it or embracing it. However, throughout these stories, people very rarely break away from their destiny. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving is a story where fate is heavily involved, with the main character Owen Meany receiving visions of the futureand accepting his destiny. Owen Meany demonstrates that fate is inescapable, and should be embraced. Unlike most stories involving fate, A Prayer for Owen Meanydoes not focus on God or divine power, and is instead closer to magical realism. Throughout the novel, the author withholds information, constantly changes the time as he is narrating, and has many people do not believe in the miracles of Owen Meany. A Prayer for Owen Meany can fit in many categories, but with these aspects of magical realism, it is the best genre to put it in. The story is told as Johnny narrates it, looking back on his childhood, and he includes any stories he believes are important to understanding the development of himself and Owen. While telling these stories, he constantly changes the part of his childhood he is talking about. Besides the sudden jumps in years, Johnny also skips over days or even weeks at once, not bothering to explain what happened during that time. At one point, he is talking about how he could see Owen was at least as high as the palm trees (Irving 626). In the very next sentence, he skips presumably weeks ahead, to talk about how Major Rawls saw to it that Owen Meany got a medal (Irving 626). Time being nonlinear is an aspect of magical realism, and with all the jumps and skips, the timeline is very strange and a little difficult to piece together. The jumping of time also plays into the theme of fate a little, as fate is all about the future. Telling the future before previous events are explained makes the reader feel like Owen, knowing some of the future but not the events that lead up to it. Not knowing information is also an aspect of magical realism, and several major subplots involve the past the author keeps hidden. For two thirds of the book, and ten years of his life, Johnny does not know who his father is, or what unspeakable outrage the Catholic church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Analysis Of The World Of Doublespeak By William Lutz In the essay The World of Doublespeak , by William Lutz, the author gives the reader four different questions to help one identify doublespeak. According to Lutz these questions are, who is saying what to whom, under what conditions and circumstances, with what intent, and with what results? (par. 4). These questions help to distinguish between truthful language and doublespeak. The first question, who is saying what to whom? focuses on the relationship between the two people. The chance of doublespeak being present increases greatly when the two people have a negative, or passive aggressive, relationship. The next question, under what conditions and circumstances? focuses on the events of what is going on. This question shows up prominently in events such as political rallies and debates. The third question, with what intent focuses on the underlying goal of the statement. This question raises the most suspicion, as it makes one really think about whether there is doublespeak present. The final question what results ties in on the intent. The outcome of the doublespeak will be different that that of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
