The lymphatic system consists of lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes that traffic lymph and immune cells to establish and maintain immune responses. It plays an important role in fluid drainage from tissues and the immune system. There are over 600 lymph nodes in the body arranged in chains that drain different regions. Imaging modalities like lymphography, lymphoscintigraphy, ultrasound, CT and MRI can be used to visualize the lymphatic system and detect abnormalities in lymph nodes and vessels.
