The Basic Tenets of the New Sociology of Childhood
Discuss the basic tenants and evaluate the utility of the new sociology of childhood in gaining a better
understanding of young people.
Childhood is the age span ranging from birth to adolescence and its non specific for it can imply a
varying range of years in human development reference. The age ranges anywhere from 12 years to
15years with 18years being most common. Previous research done by sociologists focused on children
primarily in terms of socialization and within the context of the family. The new sociology of
childhood argues that children inhabit more than one world, worlds that may well conflict those of
adults, those of children s own making, and those that children ... Show more content on

The Marxist perspective argues that childhood is socially constructed because the bourgeoisie need a
better educated and skilled work force to cope with complex machines and follow instructions. The
family provided food, shelter and clothing and by paying taxes provides education and healthcare for
those who will be the next generation of workers. All of this benefited bourgeoisie at all most no
expense to them. The ideology of responsibility of parents ensures that parents make sacrifices to
bring up their children. Therefore, the bourgeoisie benefit from the concept of childhood.
Therefore by arguing that childhood is social constructed, the new sociology of childhood enables one
to understand young people from a different perspective. Such notions of childhood innocence,
vulnerability, helplessness, economic dependence among others are scrutinized with regard to broader
structural forces. Thus young people even though by virtue of their biological and psychological make
up may be similar across all cultures, what they are expected to do or how they view themselves differ
from place to place, situation to situation. For instance even though the United Nations universalize
childhood by defining it as, Childhood is the time for children to be in school and at play, to grow
strong and confident with the love and encouragement of their family and an extended community of
caring adults (UNICEF 2005).

Summary Of The White Man s Burden
According to William Easterly, the accomplishments of planned development are not impressive. In an
overly simplified process, governments invest capital to provide aid to developing countries (in this
case food aid), it then does not yield a specific result or target, and the aid goes somewhere unintended
(Easterly, 2006). In The White Man s Burden, Easterly discusses the notion that aid aims to please the
donor instead of their electorate, by focusing on the wrong projects, and project impacts are often not
measured scientifically (Easterly, 2006). In other words, development aid does more harm by fostering
a dependency in recipient governments (Diriye, et al., 2014). For developments sake, positive effects
are tarnished by the politicization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Gambia, the government received foreign aid to develop rice projects for the purpose to
increase food security from 1966 to 1984 (Carney, 2008). It is important to note that this period from
1966 to 1984 is a period that evolved from the Second World War. As a result, the justification for aid
and development was to uplift nations from poverty. Furthermore, development was justified as a
moral obligation and as something that advances national interest (Eyoh, 2015). However,
development for the strict purpose of morality or poverty has unintended consequences. According to
Carney, the Gambian government utilized 25,000 hectares of land to facilitate food aid for rice
production. Today, only 10 percent of the initial irrigated land for food aid and food security purposes
remains in production by farmers (Carney, 2008). As these operations emerged, different labour
arrangements (human, mechanical and political) needed to develop in unison. Before the processes
were complete, changes in policy favoured the importation of rice instead of local production (Carney,

Corruption In Texas
Texas is an interesting state when it comes to party affiliation because of the size of the state itself. On
one hand, the state of Texas has 4 of the top 20 biggest cities in the United States including Houston,
San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin. With all of these large and mostly liberal cities, it is quite impressive
that Texas has held onto top Republican offices since 1994. According to Will (2016) in his article, A
changing Lone Star State could change the GOP, Texas is 84.7 percent urban, and, based on the
history of urban states, they usually lean towards the Democratic Party affiliation. However, according
to Sanhueza (2017) in his article Why is Texas So Red, And How Did It Get That Way?, with this
urbanization the Republican party ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be interpreted as proof that Texas may be changing to some extent, but I think the reason
Trump won by a smaller margin is because of his plans for the wall between Mexico and Texas and
the changing demographics.
Although Texas is a huge Republican state, I think the only issue that could cause Texas to transform
into a swing state is President Trump himself. Let s just start with President Trump s approval rating.
According to Svitek (2017) in his article Poll: Trump approval rating underwater in Texas, Trump s
approval rating in the Republican state of Texas is only 42 percent while disapproval is 54 percent.
Like I mentioned earlier, I believe this is due to the egregious things that come out of his mouth. The
problem that falls into Texas lap is the large population of of Hispanics combined with having Trump
as our President. According to Anderson (2016) in his article Lone Star Uprising, In 2010, for
example, half of all children under 5 years old were Hispanic, versus only 20 percent of people over
65 years old. This is going to provide some issues in the future for Texas because if Trump does build
the wall between Texas and Mexico and if Donald Trump keeps favoring strict immigration laws,
Texas might

Examples Of The Doppelganger Motif In Frankenstein
Playing a significant role in Gothic literature, many authors have made use of the doppelganger motif,
just like Mary Shelley in her most famous work Frankenstein . Back in that time doubling was one of
the key concepts to eerie fiction, as Marshall Brown puts it : There can be few traditions so beset with
second selves and doppelgangers as the Gothic novel (Palmer 85).
But in how far do Victor and his created entity belong to this literary idea of the double ? And to what
extent is the protagonist able to be compared to the daemon ? The following paper argues that the
similarity of Victor Frankenstein and his constructed monster goes so far that one can speak of a
double.
In Gothic fiction, which provides the best known examples of ... Show more content on

There are not many similarities at first sight when investigating these two main personalities.
However, when looking beyond their outward apparent surface, one needs to admit that they have far
more in common than just sharing the connection of creator and creation. The probably most striking
aspect is their repeated urge for going into and hiding in the nature. The monster sees nature as a
welcomed place to just be who he actually is and to hide himself from humans as they are scared of
him and also tend to attack him due to his appearance. On the other hand Victor needs the nature not
only for his mood but also for his health and makes use of it every time he feels under the weather or
is critically ill : It had then filled me with a sublime ecstacy that gave wings to the soul, and allowed it
to soar from the obscure world to light and joy (Shelley 66).
Besides nature, it s also remarkable that both characters have a serious drive for knowledge, since
Victor Frankenstein is invigorated by science and devotes himself to create supernatural life. The
daemon s drive for knowledge is visible when he starts understanding human society and secretly
learns how to speak, so that he is able to interact with human

US Strategy in Fighting Terrorism With Military Force Essay
With recent operations by the Pakistani military and drone attacks by the US, these safe havens are
being attacked, but they remain a major refuge for the Taliban and other insurgents. Complicating the
matter are allegations of Pakistani Intelligence (ISI) support for the Taliban and Pakistani fears of
Indian influence in Afghanistan.
Recent US strategy in fighting terrorism with military force revolves around three central ideas a
counterinsurgency (COIN) philosophy recognizing the importance of civilians, covert operations and
investigative work, and the use of drones. The COIN philosophy today recognizes the importance of
civilian attitudes and casualties. As such, American air attacks have been curtailed, despite the military

Even if no civilians have been killed, the perception is not good for the US, both in Pakistan and the
world at large. With the Pakistani military engaged throughout its northwestern territories in massive
operations to root out terrorists, accompanied by the displacement of millions of civilians, the use of
US drone attacks is an attractive alternative, allowing action to be taken without overstretching the
Pakistani military.
There remain many legal and moral issues associated with the pursuance of counterterrorism. The
primary concern is the treatment of prisoners. Although the Geneva Conventions protect uniformed
military personnel from mistreatment, it is argued that they do not apply to terrorists and insurgents as
they are not uniformed and do not obey any recognized government. In addition, the Bush
administration classified them as enemy combatants denying them rights such as trials and formal
charges while detaining many indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Although President Obama has
signed orders closing Guantanamo Bay, this has yet to occur; albeit multiple transfers of prisoners
have occurred . In addition, the issue of

What Is Polarization Sensitivity Of Hcg
to be explored .
Polarization sensitivity of HCG: As polarization selectivity is important in many applications like
VCSELs. It has been shown through the literature that most of the research is done on the 1
dimensional HCGs. Because of the asymmetrical grating profile for TE and TM polarizations, 1D
HCGs are polarization sensitive. so they can provide high reflectivity in a specific polarization at a
particular wavelength. But there is a need of Polarization insensitive HCGs. Polarization independent
HCGs requires two dimensional HCG. So there is a need to study the properties of 2 D HCGs for
polarization insensitivity.

2.4 Research Gaps
Not much work has been published on performance evaluation of HCG for different values of angle of
incidence and with different wavelengths. Also the effect of polarization on the grating properties has
not been explored yet [16]. Less work has been done on tight optical confinement hollow waveguide
with low temperature dependence [52]. Older high index contrast grating based ultra low loss hollow
core waveguides are not cost effective because of the requirement of long gratings necessary for wave
guiding [53]. No report on hollow core waveguide with high index contrast grating as top and bottom
mirror inserted as lateral periodicity [55]
2.5 Research Objectives
On the basis of the understanding established from the initial study and literature survey the
following objectives are proposed:
Design and simulation of a novel broad band and high reflective single layer high index contrast
grating for larger bandwidth at grazing optical incidence. Design and simulation of an Hollow
Waveguide (with improved propagation characteristics loss, dispersion, bandwidth, spot size, optical
confinement etc.) where proposed High Index Contrast Grating will be used as top and bottom mirror.

Ecosystem is a biological community of living organisms/biotic components (plants animals) and non
living/abiotic elements (sunlight, soil, air water) within a specific area, together forming a complex
system in which they interact and adversely affect depend on each other in one form or another (food

Method or how I observed the ecosystem was by randomly choosing 2 areas with in it and gradually
expanding my study area from 1 to 32 m², carefully watching and noting down what I observed.
I did this by starting from surface equal to 1 m² then increasing it to 2, 4, 8 and 32 m² each time
marking the boundary with a yellow fluorescent string held up by four screwdrivers that also acted as
the four corners of the current quadrat correctly marked with a measuring tape and 90° angle. Each
time I increased the surface are, I observed and noted down every different type of plant and animal
species, any present non living animal or plant materials, condition of the soil, different types of
foliage, interactions between the living non living components and interaction between living
organisms.
All the accumulated was put in to a data table, showing species richness for each quadrat and total
cumulative number of species and then represented with a graph.

Female Roles In The Oresteia By Aeschylus
Female Roles in The Oresteia That woman she manoeuvers like a man (Aeschylus 103). This quote
from the Greek tragedy, The Oresteia by Aeschylus, introduces readers to a theme of the piece: the
role of women. Furthermore, this tragedy gives the reader a view on how women played a role in
ancient Greek society. Additionally, it highlights the reaction, from Greek men, to women in
leadership roles. In the following, you will find a historical account of the role of Greek women, and
how Aeschylus shows a different role of women. Therefore, by reading The Oresteia we can get a
glimpse into what characteristics Greek women embodied. Also, through the actions of female
characters such as Clytemnestra and Electra, we see examples of women ... Show more content on

After reading this quote, one can see that even a murder by a woman is seen as having less weight.
Despite the cruelty of the murder, Clytemnestra killed her husband / king to get revenge for him
killing their daughter years prior. Essentially, King Agamemnon sacrificed his and Clytemnestra s
daughter for better luck in a war. Furthermore, he was never punished for this killing. Therefore,
seeing that the male led judicial system failed to uphold justice, Clytemnestra took it into her own
hands. Overall, this shows a woman recognizing that justice was being put to the wayside and taking
action to make it right. Now, Aeschylus did not explain if Clytemnestra tried to advocate for her
husband to be punished for her late daughters killing. But, he does make clear that she is not happy
with the way in which the counsel dealt with it. Not surprisingly, a woman in charge of a kingdom
would not be taken so lightly in ancient Greece. As a clear example of this, Clytemnestra s taking of
the reins while the king was at war, was met with a fair amount of backlash. Although not publically
scrutinized, Clytemnestra was seen as not fit for the position because of her gender. In fact, this is very
clear when news of the war ending reached Argos. When the watchman told the queen about Troy
being beaten, Clytemnestra took the news directly to the counsel. When she relayed the message, she
was met with skepticism. For example, a chorus

The History Of Sedimentary Basins
The sedimentary record is the best archive of basin forming tectonics and structural processes,
particularly in regions with complex tectonic history such as the Eastern Cordillera in the Northern
Andes of Colombia. Multiple tectonic episodes have driven fault reactivation and sedimentation in the
Cenozoic is related to contractional strain. Sedimentary basins within the Eastern Cordillera contain
coarse and fine grained units. The presence of coarse grained units in the distal regions of a foreland
basin are in particular used to constrain deformation history on the basis of the conditions governing
their deposition. Varying mechanisms are proposed for distal coarse clastic facies including 1)

The addition of a second chronometer such as ZHe bolsters provenance constrains. Though, different
locations can have similar ZHe ages within one region, ZHe and ZPb ages cannot be the same unless
related to volcanism (Reiners et al., 2005). Therefore, for accurate tectonic interpretations based on
volcanic grain exclusions, we implement the use of double chronometry on the same detrital grains, an
approach only used in the axial Eastern Cordillera (Saylor et al., 2012b). ZHe plays a valuable role in
determining tectonic and thermal evolution of the thrust belt via lag time analysis (Cerveny et al.,
1988, Ruiz et al., 2004, Bernet et al., 2006, Saylor et al., 2012). Changes in Lag time reflects
upsection variation in deformation and exhumation rate of the adjacent orogen by interpreting five lag
time trajectories. On each end of the spectrum, an upsection decrease in lag time will indicate
accelerated thrust induced exhumation and an upsection increase in lag time will indicate reduced
exhumation and possible introduction of a new source area. Various studies in the Eastern Cordillera
have focused on single chronometry using either ZPb for provenance history (Horton et al., 2010,
2015, Cardona et al., 2010, Nie et al., 2010, Bayona et al., 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, Saylor et al., 2011,

Bacterial Enumeration of Various Meat Products
The objective of this study was to record a quantitative approximation of how many bacteria are
present within various samples of meat products. The bacterial content of each meat sample is vital
information in regards to improvements within the meat processing industry, and gives reason for
changing or sustaining current feeding and processing conditions. Understanding which methods
taken in processing meat that is sold to the public is a matter of public health, as obtaining and
maintaining lower levels of bacteria in meats will reduce the likelihood of succumbing to illness from
the consumption of such products by the end consumer. In a previous study focusing on the levels of
antibiotic resistant bacteria found within randomly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

RESULTS.
Among the analyzed spread plates, samples from meat source A appeared to have the highest numbers
of colonies, while each enumeration held a direct relationship with the dilution number, steadily
decreasing in value as predicted, but averaging at a calculated quantity of 1.47E+07 bacteria (Table 1).
Samples from meat source B showed similar trends. Samples from meat sources C and D did not
provide statistically significant results, and thus provided inconclusive data; each of these spread
plates had a recorded sample average of 0.00E+00 to represent this (Chart 1). The pour plates had
dynamic results, the most interesting of which arose from source A2; this pour plate at a concentration
of 1.00E 03 grew colonies that were too numerous to count, then decreased to 77 colonies at the next
dilution level of 1.00E 04, but increased again at the following dilution of 1.00E 05 (Table 1). Source
A3 was similarly dynamic at dilution levels 1.00E 03 and 1.00E 04, with colony counts recorded at
188 and 268, respectively, and then falling to levels that were not statistically significant (Table 2).
This data contradicts the predicted trend; however, all other recorded data followed the ideal trend.

to aid the German military and its citizens. The medical experiments conducted at concentration
camps, most of which, resulted in physical torture and death, had limited data and insufficient results.

exactly how important he was. In the second sequence we find out Kane is globally well known as
newspapers all over the world wrote his death as front page news. We also find that he was in politics,

to all generations. This message is that one should look past the unpleasant aspects of life and
appreciate the love and care that is received. Hayden demonstrates that focusing on the negative
aspects of one s life will lead to heartache and remorse.
Robert Hayden s use of diction demonstrates a natural process of maturation over time. The speaker s
vocabulary seems to expand as the poem progresses, showing the development from a small boy to a

This enhances the feelings of remorse and shows how the speaker s views of his childhood have
changed with the passage of time. In the first stanza, the imagery focuses on the darkness and cold
which filled the speaker s home. By using lines like put his clothes on in the blueblack cold (2) and I d
wake and hear the cold splintering (6) the speaker shows how despondent his early view of his
environment was. The imagery, however, changes from cold to warm as the poem continues,
symbolizing a change in the speaker s feelings for his father. The line Speaking indifferently to him/
who had driven out the cold (10 11) in the second stanza shows how the speaker recollects his
childhood as an adult and illustrates how his feelings have changed towards his father through a better
understanding of his actions. This contrast in imagery greatly adds to the understanding of the overall
theme of the poem. Robert Hayden s combined use of diction, syntax, and imagery develops the
underlying theme of remorse and regret in Those Winter Sundays in many ways. This also shows that
one should look past the negative in his or her life and appreciate even the smallest tokens of affection
that may be given. Otherwise, as one grows older and looks back at his or her life, he or she may share

Roman Religion Essay
Religion played a significant role in the Roman civilization but, many people believe that Rome was
not a religious place. What they probably mean is that it was not a moral place. (Burrell, 65) The
Romans had innumerable gods that they worshiped which included giving gifts and sacrificing for
their gods. Sacrificing animals was common for ancient Roman civilization. The idea of sacrificing
came from the people before the Roman Empire was built. Religion primarily used sacrificing as a
means of showing appreciation to the gods but later became a way to get things from the gods. The
increases in the expansion of Rome lead to an increasing number of sacrifices. Roman sacrifice was
done in many different ways and there were numerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romans utilized praying to gods to make them successful or likely, not to make them better or nobler
therefore, Romans never seemed to mind how many different beings they had to worship. (Burrell, 65)
Romans would pray more often to increase the chance they had of their prayers being heard by a god.
Romans sacrificed or offered gifts to gods, heroes and the dead to request assistance. There were six
categories that they sacrificed for based on motives, fulfillment of a vow, thank offering, offerings
made in the expectation of favours, sacrifices made at the instigation of the gods, sacrifices as a result
of divination and anniversary dedications. (Adkins)
The most common type of sacrifice was the fulfillment of a vow. Through this method, a person is
requesting an action from a god a promise of a sacrifice is made. The next method, a thank offering
was a result of a favor granted freely. Offerings made in the expectation of favours is a sacrifice would
be made to a god and with anticipation of the request being granted, usually the request would be for
the health of a given person. Unlike the vow method the person doing the sacrifice is not expecting a
guaranteed fulfillment. Sacrifices made at the instigation of gods are preformed when a person felt
that a sacrifice was necessary through a dream or another sign from a specific god. Sacrifices as a
result of divination, were a result of consulting oracles. A person

2. The essay is called Discourse on Method. Based on the reading, what method do you think
Descartes is referring to (for doing what), and what does the method consist of? . The doubt method.
Descartes s method of doubt is to defeat skepticism on its own ground. Begin by doubting the truth of
everything not only the evidence of the senses and the more extravagant cultural presuppositions, but
even the fundamental process of reasoning itself. If any particular truth about the world can survive
this extreme skeptical challenge, then it must be truly indubitable and therefore a perfectly certain
foundation for knowledge 3. On his way to rebuilding a system of knowledge based on pure thought,
Descartes concluded that he knows he must exist. Explain in your own words how he arrived at this
conclusion. As long as he can think than he exists. You need a thinker to produce a thought. Even if he
doubts his own existence, that s a thought which would actually prove his existence. I think, therefore
I am. Descartes now believes he exists in a non physical sense (mind or soul,

Rip Van Winkle s Embodiment Of Freedom
Rip Van Winkle is the very embodiment of freedom, a very unsightly version of freedom but freedom
nonetheless. Running through the story, it is learned that Rip Van Winkle is a lazy and unproductive
member of society. He doesn t do any beneficial work for his family, his terribly passive behavior
rubbed off of on his son, and so forth. Even then, he s still being terrorized by various kinds of
tyrannical powers: the tyranny of marriage (his very uptight wife, Dame Van Winkle, nags on him a

and the tyranny of government (he is under direct rule of King George III). Thankfully, a magical nap

Vygotsky To Assist Rad In Learning
A basic concept of Vygotsky s socio cultural theory is its claim that the human mind is the go between
and plays a significant role for what he calls tools‟ in humans‟ understanding of the world and
themselves (Cole.1978). Vygotsky defends the theory that people do not act directly on the physical
world without the intermediary of tools. Vygotsky describes cognitive development first occurs in a
social context amongst people as inter and within the individual, as intra. Thus meaning, according to
Vygotsky as, Every function in the child s cultural development appears twice: first, on the social
level, and later, on the individual level; first between people (inter psychological) and then inside the

Vygotsky indicates the latter understanding of consciousness in the field of teaching is embodied in
the concept of metacognition, in which he states, incorporates functions such as planning, voluntary

contributions to the theory is the distinction between the child s actual and potential levels of
development to what Vygotsky refers to as Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD).
The Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) (Cole.1978) is the distance between a student s ability to

Hillary Clinton Is Not The Right Choice
Hillary Clinton
President of the United States, the highest office in our nation. A respected title, a praiseworthy title,
an honorable title, but some may ask why anyone would want to be President.
For the fame or power? Well, that is how most people think the candidate, Hillary Clinton, thinks of it.
Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Clinton, and Sanders are the remaining candidates still in the race for the
presidency. All candidates have their faults, but Hillary s biggest fault is how she is campaigning.
When people listen to her presidential campaigns, they are not hearing politics or how she is going to
improve our country; they are hearing Hillary attacking her competitors, trying to make her fellow
candidates look weak. Our President should not behave in that way, their actions reflects on us, the
people of the United States. Hillary Clinton is not the right choice to be our upcoming President of the
United States.
Hillary Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947, she is the daughter of Hugh
Rodham, owner of a fabric store, and Dorothy Rodham, an uneducated stay at home mother.
Clinton is the oldest of her two brothers and grew up in Park Ridge, a suburb in Chicago, Illinois.
She did very well in school and wanted to make a change in children s rights, Clinton made her own
fundraisers, such as a small circus and sporting events, to benefit children living in poverty.

Fracking Of The United States
Alexi Taylor Monday, December 1, 2014 Dr. Gray Final Paper Fracking in the United States
Hydraulic fracking in the United States is a current environmental hazard that has to be addressed by
the American people and by the federal government. Fracking in America has opened up millions of
acres of lands that were once not economically viable to produce oil and gas. While the Bureau of land
Management has paved the way for hydraulic fracturing on public lands, there is a need for retaliation.
Fracking is a dirty method of extracting gases and oils at the price of numerous environmental, safety,
and health hazards. The environment is not a means of income when rather it is the capital for future
generations. Currently fracking is being disputed at state and federal levels. Farmers around the
country have been affected by this issue where fracking companies disturb the surrounding
environment to a point that nearby neighbors are affected so much where their drinking water
becomes contaminated and undrinkable. Who becomes responsible to support these everyday farmers
to contend against these well off oil fracking companies? In some cases these farmers don t have the
resources to win the legal disputes against these large fracking barons. Small family farms are

Neurological Approach Analysis
Psychological and Neurological Approaches
Introduction
It has only been recently that learning and memory were considered to be of scientific relevance. It
has developed over the years as more accurate ways of measuring these fields have come to the
surface. Aristotle, a philosopher, was of the first few to observe and write about memory. He
developed the idea of associationism which states that memory can be influenced by formations of
associations or linkages between events, sensations, or ideas, so that experiencing any of these elicits a
memory or anticipation of the other (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). There are three basic principles
of associationism which include contiguity, frequency, and similarity. Contiguity is the experience ...

It provides the physiological blueprint for the way our brain processes learning and memory. There are
two major recent advancements in technology that help us physically see how all these parts work and
function together. Structural neuroimaging is the process of creating a anatomical picture of the brain.
It can show the size and shape of the brain as well as areas of lesions or brain damage (Gluck,
Mercado, Myers, 2014). Common structural neuroimaging techniques used today are computed
tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). While
they all work to create a 3D image of your brain, the each have their own unique image to show. The
traditional x ray only providing one image at one angle, the CT scans allow for multiple images of
slices or crosses through the body and this allows you to see the anatomical structure of the body in
three dimensional space (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). The MRI works in a similar way although it
uses magnetic waves to create electrical currents in the brain, allowing you to create an image of size
and/or shape of the brain. The newly improved MRI or the DTI measures water diffusion in the brain
tissue where several groups of axons are physically viewing the connections of the brain (Gluck,
Mercado, Myers, 2014). Functional neuroimaging has allowed researchers to view the activities and
functions in the brain and track the amount of oxygen being carried in the blood, thus allowing them
to view areas where the brain is high function or low function. Technology like the positron emission
tomography (PET) and functional magnetic imaging (fMRI) are ways in which we can psychically see
these areas of activity. The method I find most intriguing is the CT scan for it was the first of its kind
in brain imaging. Personally experiencing a CT scan in the past, it always amazes me how quick and

Dance Of The Call Bells Essay
When admitted to a hospital patients may feel they have little control over their situation and the
surrounding environment. Using a call bell to meet their needs is perhaps one of a few things that
gives patients a feeling that they still have some control. The title of the article Dance of the Call
Bells: Using Ethnography to Evaluate Patient Satisfaction with Quality of Care, suggests that the key
phenomenon of the study was the evaluation of patients satisfaction with quality of care they received
in terms of their experience in the use of call bells (Deitrick, Bokovoy, Glenn, Panik, 2006). The title
did not describe the population, group or community under study, other than stating that the
population was patients . The title did not state that phenomenon was also looked at and analyzed
through perspectives of family members and staff, nor did it mention that the study was done on a med
surgical unit.
The abstract of the study clearly and concisely summarized the main features of the report. It stated
that the study was conducted as a qualitative, ethnographic research. Then, it briefly described the
problems associated with call bells and how these problems affected patients perceptions regarding the
quality of care. It explained that the study identified three interrelated themes regarding
communication through call bells including answering the call bell, communicating the patient s
request to the appropriate health care provider and following through with the

The Debate Of Science And Medicine
Throughout the course of human history people have been fascinated by the world around them.
Ancient philosophers focused on the questions of human existence while early scientists searched for
explanations beyond those that religion provided. Science became an outlet to provide answers to the
unknown while creating further questions for future experimenters to seek information about. Simply
observing and explaining nature failed to bring seekers of knowledge satisfaction. It was not enough
to have knowledge, people desired to apply that knowledge, using it to create an advantage over
nature. The eagerness to control nature sparked one of humankind s largest debates. Pre and post
enlightenment thinkers alike questioned the role of science and whether or not it should continue on
the path of being master to nature. In the modern world, science still faces the same debate especially
within the realm of medicine. Modern medicine has greatly increased life expectancy by decreasing
the number of communicable disease outbreaks, but still doctors and scientist want to go further.
Science and medicine have come to a point where it is possible to make changes to the human genome
and use stem cells to create other cell types. While these advances have great potential they are being
experimented with in ways that seem unnatural and wobble between what is ethical or unethical. With
expansions in genetic research and our growing understanding of the human genome and genes in

area. Take a cart with full of books around fifty books on it, and do not forget to bring something that

Government Regulation Of The United States
The government has always played a very strong role in the laws of the United States and in the lives
of people who live in this country. At times in history, the government has been too strict on its people
other times. These leaders have, however, failed to achieve a successful medium between these two
treatments. The situation is similar to this one when dealing with most everything that the government
has any type of control over. Although there are opposing sides which either argue for strict
government regulation of the diets of its people or no government regulation at all, a middle ground
should be explored and examined by the government itself regarding this topic. Nutrition in America

The government seems, also, to cut off all of the things that they think are sources of the problem at
once as well. There is, and never really has been, any balance in the system of the government when it
comes to this type of issue. People come up with their own theory to make themselves feel like they
are still in the right, the government recognizes that there is a problem, so it enters the situation
without thinking out or planning for a legitimate solution to the problem; it places into and enforces
rules and regulations that are possibly too strict for the people in the nation, and so the people turn the
opposite way again. ...[W]hen this happens, the cycle just starts over and keeps repeating itself
throughout time, and this cycle does not help anyone in any way because the problem never really
finds a resolution this way (Malanga).
The view of these types of people who try to come up with and research their own theories to make
themselves feel better about continuing what they are doing are on the no government involvement

Advantages Of Composite Materials
2. Composite Materials
2.1. Introduction
Composites are materials consisting of two or more chemically distinct constituents having a clear
interface separating them and with properties which cannot be obtained by any constituent material
working individually [1].
One of the modern definitions of composite materials was given after 1990 and it says that: A modern
composite material is a system formed of at least two constituents, in which the fiber volume fraction
is at least 10% and in which the mechanical property values of one component are at least 5 times
higher than the values of properties of the second component. [1].
As an example, While a high strength fiber can have a tensile strength of 3500 MPa or more, a typical
polymeric matrix normally has a tensile strength of only 35 to 70 MPa [2].

League, to name a few organizations, were very prominent in the civil rights era. They sought Black
women s full rights as women and as citizens, repeatedly insisting that women s rights to good
schools, jobs, and protection from physical and sexual assault were essential planks in the black
freedom struggle (Feminism Unfinished, 5). Addie Wyatt is an example of what the average woman of
color experienced in the job force after the war. Addie Wyatt was a leader in the United States Labor
movement, and a civil rights activist. Wyatt is known for being the first African American woman to
hold senior office in an American labor union, the United Packinghouse

Internet Censorship Essay example
Censorship of the Internet
We should demand that all public schools and libraries install and configure Internet Filters. This
statement shows how Jeffery Pollock, a candidate for the 3rd Congressional District seat in Oregon,
views the Internet. Unfortunately for him, the one thing that he ranted and raved about was the one
thing that gave him an unfair disadvantage in the in the upcoming elections. (Blind Ballots) Cyber
Patrol, One of the leading Internet censoring companies and is used in over 17,000 schools in the
Untied States, actually blocked his website from potential voters. Needless to say, when Mr. Pollock
discovered this injustice, some of his views about Internet censorship changed. But Mr. Pollock isn t

It would be beneficial to censor the Internet in schools if the censoring program actually worked;
sadly none of the programs are good enough and actually do more harm than good. If there is a
student who wants to find porn on the Internet, he will because the censoring programs suck. Not only
will he find the porn, but also he will not get into trouble for it because since it is censored only good
sites that are approved are available. When I was in high school, I did an Ecology paper and the
censoring program actually blocked out informational internet pages about black bears and bullfrogs,
simply because it contained information about mating habits, which is ridiculous.
Many highly respectable organizations are completely against Internet censorship. One such
organization is the American Library Association or ALA. The ALA is against any type of censoring
software or programs in any of their affiliations across the nation. In Fact, a line in the ALA code of
ethics specifically states, We uphold the principles of intellectual Freedom and resist all efforts to
censor library resources. (Weckert 44) There is no mistaking that the ALA is against censorship.
Another highly regarded source is The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, In this Article 19
states Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this includes freedom to hold
opinions without interference and to seek, receive and import information and ideas through any

The Role Of Pharmacists
The profession of Pharmacy is not only the science of practicing of preparation and dispensing of
medicinal drugs but also providing quality of life to the individuals/patients.pharmacists are one of the
health care providers who act as mediators between physicians and the patients. The profession of
pharmacy is well managed globally specially in the developed countries. Since the pharmacists are the
only professionals who manufacture the medicines and have an in depth knowledge about the drugs,
they should be given treatment rights on par with the physicians. The careers of pharmacists are
diverse if they are well recognized. Hence the government of India should take proper steps to manage
the pharmaceutical industry and show them better career prospects. In India, the profession of
pharmacy is not well recognized due to illiteracy and poverty. But this can be overcome, if the
pharmacists put on proper efforts to make their profession magnified by gaining adequate knowledge
in their areas of study.as said the pharmacists act as mediators, they play a key role in the therapeutic
outcome of the patients. Henceforth, if the pharmacists show empathy, care and have proper attitude,

empathetic caregivers who are the life savers of our nation migrate to save the lives of other nations.
Then what is the condition of the patients and individuals of our nation? These aspects will overcome

The Pros And Cons Of Planned Parenthood
V) Planned Parenthood
To reiterate how important symbol creation and media framing are to modern scandals, look no further
than the allegations brought on family planning organization Planned Parenthood in 2015. In many
ways, the scandals themselves were nearly identical in composition. David Daleiden, a journalist and
founder of the pro life group the Center for Medical Progress, accumulated undercover footage at
eleven Planned Parenthood offices claiming to be a representative for a fetal tissue procurement
business. In the footage, abortion clinic doctors and executives [admit] that their fetal tissue
procurement agreements are profitable for clinics and help keep their bottom line healthy. A report
from the Center for Medical Progress goes into detail about Planned Parenthood works with
StemExpress, LLC, and several other companies which supposedly profit off of fetal tissue.
In fact, though the Center for Medical Progress does not seem to be affiliated with any larger
organization like biggovernment.com was with Breitbart, there is a relatively noticeable attention to
academic detail in his approach to investigative journalism. The report previously mentioned has full
citations (most of them are either references to small, conservative news sites or citations from their
own website) and there is a portion of centerformedicalprogress.org entirely dedicated to archived
documents taken from Planned Parenthood chapters, including fetus tissue invoices and pricing

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that can cause chronic inflammation in the joints and
other parts of the body. It affects the lining of the joints that causes painful swelling that can
eventually lead to joint distortion and bone erosion. Rheumatoid arthritis can affect people of all ages
but it mostly begins after the age of 40 and has been found to more prevalent in women. There is no
known cure for rheumatoid arthritis and treatment focuses on controlling the symptoms and
preventing further joint damage. Numerous treatments such as medication and surgery can help a great

Fish oil
Fish oil is a great source of anti inflammatory omega 3 fatty acids and has been proven to be effective
in easing rheumatoid arthritis. It is found to be effective same as with non steroidal drugs like
ibuprofen and naproxen. Omega 3 fatty acids including EPA and DHA helps in blocking inflammatory
cytokines and prostaglandins that are then converted to anti inflammatory chemicals known as
resolvins. Good sources of omega 3 fatty acids includes salmon, herring, mackerel, and tuna. Fish oil
supplements are also available.
Supplements
Zinc Zinc has been found culpable in inhibiting the inflammatory response thus it is being investigated
as a possible treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. Based on a double blind study, 24 patients were given
supplementation of zinc and their symptoms are reduced significantly. However, there are also several
studies that zinc doesn t provide any significant improvement. The possible explanation for this is zinc
supplementation is effective for only mild and moderately severe rheumatoid arthritis.
Copper Copper is known to have anti inflammatory properties. Copper complexes of NSAIDs are

Research Paper On Orion
Orion is my favorite constellation because it is one of the easiest to find and most recognizable. This
makes it one of the most popular constellations. Orion s belt includes the three brightest stars in the
sky. In the Northern Hemisphere, Orion is a fall and winter constellation, visible from November to
February. One of Orion s stars is actually a nebula, the Orion nebula. The creation myth for Orion
comes from Greek mythology. Orion was a famous hunter. There are several different myths about
Orion s birth, life, and death. The version I read as a child stated that Orion was a son of Poseidon, and
because of this, he could walk on water. He was an amazing hunter, and always made sure to show
respect to Artemis, the goddess of hunting.

financial management problems 6301
1. There are two identical firms EQT Corp and DBT Corp except for their capital structure. For
example none of the firms pay taxes, and EBIT is $22,000 per year for both firms. There is no growth
for any of the firms. EQT is an all equity firm with 1,000 shares outstanding and expected return of
22%. Since there is no growth, EQT will pay out all earnings to shareholders as dividends. In contrast,
DBT has $40,000 worth of debt outstanding with interest rate of 5%. There are 500 shares of equity
outstanding for DBT Corp. After the interest expense,
DBT will also pay out all the earnings to its shareholders.
(a) What are the equity values of both EQT Corp and DBT Corp? And, what are both companies stock
prices?
(b) What is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What would be the total equity value if Upjohn were 100% equity finance?
1.
(a) Since EQT is an all equity firm, its earnings are $22,000. Thus firm value is the equity value,
which is the discounted future dividends, VEQT =EEQT =$22,000/22% =$100,000. Since there are
1,000 share outstanding, price of EQT is: PEQT
= $100,000/1,000=$100 per share. DBT is a leveled company. Since DBT and EQT are exactly the
same except for their capital structure. We can consider DBT as the leveled company of EQT.
According to MMI, when there is no tax, the value of an all equity firm should be equal to the value of
the leveled company. Therefore, we have VDBT
=VEQT = $100,000. The total equity value of DBT should be EDBT = VDBT DDBT = $100,000
$40,000 = $60,000.
Therefore, we have the stock price for DBT: PDBT = $60,000/500=$120
(b) The expected return on DBT: ($22,000 5%*$40,000)/$60,000=33.33%. Therefore DBT is riskier
than EQT since
EQT has fewer number of equityholders but bears the same total amount of risk.
(c) John s total dividend payment from holding 200 shares of EQTT Corp is $4,400 (=22%*
($100*200)). Since DBT is a leveled company, you need to unlevel yourself by selling some of your
shares in DBT and deposit the proceeds at the risk free rate. Suppose you will need to sell x shares in
DBT, i.e. to deposit ($120*x), your total income flow will be
[$120*(212 x)*33.33%+$120*x*5%].

Descriptive Essay On Beauty
I had to decorate my head with flowers and was looking exquisite. My father had prohibited me from
using scented perfumes. I also did not have slightest of interest in that. I have been brought up in
nature. Where does beauty live? Is it in jewelry or clothes, in the body, in soul or in the eye of the
beholder? I was wondering.
Four chariots named Rug, Yarju, Sam and Atharva were constructed. The great father Brahma sat on
Rug. Twayi and Anwikshika were sitting in Yarju. Varta and Niti were in Atharva. Yarju was decorated
with beautiful flowers. A drape of flowers covered the front of the chariot. The fourth chariot Atharva
was appearing like a bouquet of red flowers.
I sat in the chariot Sam, which was decorated with vines and fragrant flowers. In front of me, a
garland of white jasmine was hanging. I was bathing with the fragrance of the flowers. My whole
body, my mind, and my soul were all filled with fragrance.
No one could see me from outside the chariot. But, I could see through the vines and thorns. I did not
know the logic behind bringing me to heaven like a prisoner. I was sitting with suppressed curiosity,
but was enjoying the scenery of the Indraloka.
Even though heaven s beauty amazed me, my mind was thinking about my motherland, the earth. My
playground, the elegant forest on the foothills of the Himalayas was no way less beautiful. I could
never accept that my unique mother land is less prosperous than the kingdom of Indraloka. After
attending godhood, it was natural to become a lover of luxury. Hence, the kingdom of gods was so
much a show off. If my motherland was a selfless hermit, the heaven was a hedonist beauty. If the
Indraloka was so attractive, then how attractive Indra would be?
After the discussion, I was supposed to come out of the chariot as if for a display. That time I could
see without any hindrance and Indradeva could also see me.
I remembered my first encounter with Indra. He was visiting my father in the ashram. His chariot was
in the garden and I sat in it pretending to navigate it. As soon as I saw him returning to the chariot, I
got scared. I slipped and fell while descending from the chariot and twisted my feet. I did not cry.
Indradeva was already there. Before he

  • 2. The Basic Tenets of the New Sociology of Childhood Discuss the basic tenants and evaluate the utility of the new sociology of childhood in gaining a better understanding of young people. Childhood is the age span ranging from birth to adolescence and its non specific for it can imply a varying range of years in human development reference. The age ranges anywhere from 12 years to 15years with 18years being most common. Previous research done by sociologists focused on children primarily in terms of socialization and within the context of the family. The new sociology of childhood argues that children inhabit more than one world, worlds that may well conflict those of adults, those of children s own making, and those that children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Marxist perspective argues that childhood is socially constructed because the bourgeoisie need a better educated and skilled work force to cope with complex machines and follow instructions. The family provided food, shelter and clothing and by paying taxes provides education and healthcare for those who will be the next generation of workers. All of this benefited bourgeoisie at all most no expense to them. The ideology of responsibility of parents ensures that parents make sacrifices to bring up their children. Therefore, the bourgeoisie benefit from the concept of childhood. Therefore by arguing that childhood is social constructed, the new sociology of childhood enables one to understand young people from a different perspective. Such notions of childhood innocence, vulnerability, helplessness, economic dependence among others are scrutinized with regard to broader structural forces. Thus young people even though by virtue of their biological and psychological make up may be similar across all cultures, what they are expected to do or how they view themselves differ from place to place, situation to situation. For instance even though the United Nations universalize childhood by defining it as, Childhood is the time for children to be in school and at play, to grow strong and confident with the love and encouragement of their family and an extended community of caring adults (UNICEF 2005). ... • 3. Summary Of The White Man s Burden According to William Easterly, the accomplishments of planned development are not impressive. In an overly simplified process, governments invest capital to provide aid to developing countries (in this case food aid), it then does not yield a specific result or target, and the aid goes somewhere unintended (Easterly, 2006). In The White Man s Burden, Easterly discusses the notion that aid aims to please the donor instead of their electorate, by focusing on the wrong projects, and project impacts are often not measured scientifically (Easterly, 2006). In other words, development aid does more harm by fostering a dependency in recipient governments (Diriye, et al., 2014). For developments sake, positive effects are tarnished by the politicization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Gambia, the government received foreign aid to develop rice projects for the purpose to increase food security from 1966 to 1984 (Carney, 2008). It is important to note that this period from 1966 to 1984 is a period that evolved from the Second World War. As a result, the justification for aid and development was to uplift nations from poverty. Furthermore, development was justified as a moral obligation and as something that advances national interest (Eyoh, 2015). However, development for the strict purpose of morality or poverty has unintended consequences. According to Carney, the Gambian government utilized 25,000 hectares of land to facilitate food aid for rice production. Today, only 10 percent of the initial irrigated land for food aid and food security purposes remains in production by farmers (Carney, 2008). As these operations emerged, different labour arrangements (human, mechanical and political) needed to develop in unison. Before the processes were complete, changes in policy favoured the importation of rice instead of local production (Carney, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Corruption In Texas Texas is an interesting state when it comes to party affiliation because of the size of the state itself. On one hand, the state of Texas has 4 of the top 20 biggest cities in the United States including Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin. With all of these large and mostly liberal cities, it is quite impressive that Texas has held onto top Republican offices since 1994. According to Will (2016) in his article, A changing Lone Star State could change the GOP, Texas is 84.7 percent urban, and, based on the history of urban states, they usually lean towards the Democratic Party affiliation. However, according to Sanhueza (2017) in his article Why is Texas So Red, And How Did It Get That Way?, with this urbanization the Republican party ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could be interpreted as proof that Texas may be changing to some extent, but I think the reason Trump won by a smaller margin is because of his plans for the wall between Mexico and Texas and the changing demographics. Although Texas is a huge Republican state, I think the only issue that could cause Texas to transform into a swing state is President Trump himself. Let s just start with President Trump s approval rating. According to Svitek (2017) in his article Poll: Trump approval rating underwater in Texas, Trump s approval rating in the Republican state of Texas is only 42 percent while disapproval is 54 percent. Like I mentioned earlier, I believe this is due to the egregious things that come out of his mouth. The problem that falls into Texas lap is the large population of of Hispanics combined with having Trump as our President. According to Anderson (2016) in his article Lone Star Uprising, In 2010, for example, half of all children under 5 years old were Hispanic, versus only 20 percent of people over 65 years old. This is going to provide some issues in the future for Texas because if Trump does build the wall between Texas and Mexico and if Donald Trump keeps favoring strict immigration laws, Texas might ... • 5. Examples Of The Doppelganger Motif In Frankenstein Playing a significant role in Gothic literature, many authors have made use of the doppelganger motif, just like Mary Shelley in her most famous work Frankenstein . Back in that time doubling was one of the key concepts to eerie fiction, as Marshall Brown puts it : There can be few traditions so beset with second selves and doppelgangers as the Gothic novel (Palmer 85). But in how far do Victor and his created entity belong to this literary idea of the double ? And to what extent is the protagonist able to be compared to the daemon ? The following paper argues that the similarity of Victor Frankenstein and his constructed monster goes so far that one can speak of a double. In Gothic fiction, which provides the best known examples of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are not many similarities at first sight when investigating these two main personalities. However, when looking beyond their outward apparent surface, one needs to admit that they have far more in common than just sharing the connection of creator and creation. The probably most striking aspect is their repeated urge for going into and hiding in the nature. The monster sees nature as a welcomed place to just be who he actually is and to hide himself from humans as they are scared of him and also tend to attack him due to his appearance. On the other hand Victor needs the nature not only for his mood but also for his health and makes use of it every time he feels under the weather or is critically ill : It had then filled me with a sublime ecstacy that gave wings to the soul, and allowed it to soar from the obscure world to light and joy (Shelley 66). Besides nature, it s also remarkable that both characters have a serious drive for knowledge, since Victor Frankenstein is invigorated by science and devotes himself to create supernatural life. The daemon s drive for knowledge is visible when he starts understanding human society and secretly learns how to speak, so that he is able to interact with human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. US Strategy in Fighting Terrorism With Military Force Essay With recent operations by the Pakistani military and drone attacks by the US, these safe havens are being attacked, but they remain a major refuge for the Taliban and other insurgents. Complicating the matter are allegations of Pakistani Intelligence (ISI) support for the Taliban and Pakistani fears of Indian influence in Afghanistan. Recent US strategy in fighting terrorism with military force revolves around three central ideas a counterinsurgency (COIN) philosophy recognizing the importance of civilians, covert operations and investigative work, and the use of drones. The COIN philosophy today recognizes the importance of civilian attitudes and casualties. As such, American air attacks have been curtailed, despite the military ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if no civilians have been killed, the perception is not good for the US, both in Pakistan and the world at large. With the Pakistani military engaged throughout its northwestern territories in massive operations to root out terrorists, accompanied by the displacement of millions of civilians, the use of US drone attacks is an attractive alternative, allowing action to be taken without overstretching the Pakistani military. There remain many legal and moral issues associated with the pursuance of counterterrorism. The primary concern is the treatment of prisoners. Although the Geneva Conventions protect uniformed military personnel from mistreatment, it is argued that they do not apply to terrorists and insurgents as they are not uniformed and do not obey any recognized government. In addition, the Bush administration classified them as enemy combatants denying them rights such as trials and formal charges while detaining many indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. • 9. What Is Polarization Sensitivity Of Hcg to be explored . Polarization sensitivity of HCG: As polarization selectivity is important in many applications like VCSELs. It has been shown through the literature that most of the research is done on the 1 dimensional HCGs. Because of the asymmetrical grating profile for TE and TM polarizations, 1D HCGs are polarization sensitive. so they can provide high reflectivity in a specific polarization at a particular wavelength. But there is a need of Polarization insensitive HCGs. Polarization independent HCGs requires two dimensional HCG. So there is a need to study the properties of 2 D HCGs for polarization insensitivity. Analysis of propagation characteristic of HCG based hollow optical waveguide: optical waveguide is the basic ... Also the effect of polarization on the grating properties has not been explored yet [16]. Less work has been done on tight optical confinement hollow waveguide with low temperature dependence [52]. Older high index contrast grating based ultra low loss hollow core waveguides are not cost effective because of the requirement of long gratings necessary for wave guiding [53]. No report on hollow core waveguide with high index contrast grating as top and bottom mirror inserted as lateral periodicity [55] 2.5 Research Objectives On the basis of the understanding established from the initial study and literature survey the following objectives are proposed: Design and simulation of a novel broad band and high reflective single layer high index contrast grating for larger bandwidth at grazing optical incidence. • 12. Female Roles In The Oresteia By Aeschylus Female Roles in The Oresteia That woman she manoeuvers like a man (Aeschylus 103). This quote from the Greek tragedy, The Oresteia by Aeschylus, introduces readers to a theme of the piece: the role of women. Furthermore, this tragedy gives the reader a view on how women played a role in ancient Greek society. Additionally, it highlights the reaction, from Greek men, to women in leadership roles. In the following, you will find a historical account of the role of Greek women, and how Aeschylus shows a different role of women. Therefore, by reading The Oresteia we can get a glimpse into what characteristics Greek women embodied. Also, through the actions of female characters such as Clytemnestra and Electra, we see examples of women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After reading this quote, one can see that even a murder by a woman is seen as having less weight. Despite the cruelty of the murder, Clytemnestra killed her husband / king to get revenge for him killing their daughter years prior. Essentially, King Agamemnon sacrificed his and Clytemnestra s daughter for better luck in a war. Furthermore, he was never punished for this killing. Therefore, seeing that the male led judicial system failed to uphold justice, Clytemnestra took it into her own hands. Overall, this shows a woman recognizing that justice was being put to the wayside and taking action to make it right. Now, Aeschylus did not explain if Clytemnestra tried to advocate for her husband to be punished for her late daughters killing. But, he does make clear that she is not happy with the way in which the counsel dealt with it. Not surprisingly, a woman in charge of a kingdom would not be taken so lightly in ancient Greece. As a clear example of this, Clytemnestra s taking of the reins while the king was at war, was met with a fair amount of backlash. Although not publically scrutinized, Clytemnestra was seen as not fit for the position because of her gender. In fact, this is very clear when news of the war ending reached Argos. When the watchman told the queen about Troy being beaten, Clytemnestra took the news directly to the counsel. When she relayed the message, she was met with skepticism. For example, a chorus ... • 13. The History Of Sedimentary Basins The sedimentary record is the best archive of basin forming tectonics and structural processes, particularly in regions with complex tectonic history such as the Eastern Cordillera in the Northern Andes of Colombia. Multiple tectonic episodes have driven fault reactivation and sedimentation in the Cenozoic is related to contractional strain. Sedimentary basins within the Eastern Cordillera contain coarse and fine grained units. The presence of coarse grained units in the distal regions of a foreland basin are in particular used to constrain deformation history on the basis of the conditions governing their deposition. Varying mechanisms are proposed for distal coarse clastic facies including 1) Orography (Masek et al., 1994) and climate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The addition of a second chronometer such as ZHe bolsters provenance constrains. Though, different locations can have similar ZHe ages within one region, ZHe and ZPb ages cannot be the same unless related to volcanism (Reiners et al., 2005). Therefore, for accurate tectonic interpretations based on volcanic grain exclusions, we implement the use of double chronometry on the same detrital grains, an approach only used in the axial Eastern Cordillera (Saylor et al., 2012b). ZHe plays a valuable role in determining tectonic and thermal evolution of the thrust belt via lag time analysis (Cerveny et al., 1988, Ruiz et al., 2004, Bernet et al., 2006, Saylor et al., 2012). Changes in Lag time reflects upsection variation in deformation and exhumation rate of the adjacent orogen by interpreting five lag time trajectories. On each end of the spectrum, an upsection decrease in lag time will indicate accelerated thrust induced exhumation and an upsection increase in lag time will indicate reduced exhumation and possible introduction of a new source area. Various studies in the Eastern Cordillera have focused on single chronometry using either ZPb for provenance history (Horton et al., 2010, 2015, Cardona et al., 2010, Nie et al., 2010, Bayona et al., 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, Saylor et al., 2011, Bande et al., 2012, Ochoa et al., 2012, Ayala et al., ... The bacterial content of each meat sample is vital information in regards to improvements within the meat processing industry, and gives reason for changing or sustaining current feeding and processing conditions. Understanding which methods taken in processing meat that is sold to the public is a matter of public health, as obtaining and maintaining lower levels of bacteria in meats will reduce the likelihood of succumbing to illness from the consumption of such products by the end consumer. Samples from meat source B showed similar trends. Samples from meat sources C and D did not provide statistically significant results, and thus provided inconclusive data; each of these spread plates had a recorded sample average of 0.00E+00 to represent this (Chart 1). Source A3 was similarly dynamic at dilution levels 1.00E 03 and 1.00E 04, with colony counts recorded at 188 and 268, respectively, and then falling to levels that were not statistically significant (Table 2). In the first stanza, the imagery focuses on the darkness and cold which filled the speaker s home. By using lines like put his clothes on in the blueblack cold (2) and I d wake and hear the cold splintering (6) the speaker shows how despondent his early view of his environment was. The imagery, however, changes from cold to warm as the poem continues, symbolizing a change in the speaker s feelings for his father. The line Speaking indifferently to him/ who had driven out the cold (10 11) in the second stanza shows how the speaker recollects his childhood as an adult and illustrates how his feelings have changed towards his father through a better understanding of his actions. He developed the idea of associationism which states that memory can be influenced by formations of associations or linkages between events, sensations, or ideas, so that experiencing any of these elicits a memory or anticipation of the other (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). It provides the physiological blueprint for the way our brain processes learning and memory. There are two major recent advancements in technology that help us physically see how all these parts work and function together. Structural neuroimaging is the process of creating a anatomical picture of the brain. It can show the size and shape of the brain as well as areas of lesions or brain damage (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). Common structural neuroimaging techniques used today are computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). While they all work to create a 3D image of your brain, the each have their own unique image to show. The traditional x ray only providing one image at one angle, the CT scans allow for multiple images of slices or crosses through the body and this allows you to see the anatomical structure of the body in three dimensional space (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). The MRI works in a similar way although it uses magnetic waves to create electrical currents in the brain, allowing you to create an image of size and/or shape of the brain. The newly improved MRI or the DTI measures water diffusion in the brain tissue where several groups of axons are physically viewing the connections of the brain (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). Functional neuroimaging has allowed researchers to view the activities and functions in the brain and track the amount of oxygen being carried in the blood, thus allowing them to view areas where the brain is high function or low function. Technology like the positron emission tomography (PET) and functional magnetic imaging (fMRI) are ways in which we can psychically see these areas of activity. Ancient philosophers focused on the questions of human existence while early scientists searched for explanations beyond those that religion provided. Simply observing and explaining nature failed to bring seekers of knowledge satisfaction. It was not enough to have knowledge, people desired to apply that knowledge, using it to create an advantage over nature. The eagerness to control nature sparked one of humankind s largest debates. People come up with their own theory to make themselves feel like they are still in the right, the government recognizes that there is a problem, so it enters the situation without thinking out or planning for a legitimate solution to the problem; it places into and enforces rules and regulations that are possibly too strict for the people in the nation, and so the people turn the opposite way again. ...[W]hen this happens, the cycle just starts over and keeps repeating itself throughout time, and this cycle does not help anyone in any way because the problem never really finds a resolution this way (Malanga). The view of these types of people who try to come up with and research their own theories to make themselves feel better about continuing what they are doing are on the no government involvement side of the argument about the regulation situation. The government s view on this problem is mostly focused on trying to better the citizens who live in its designated country; this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Composites are materials consisting of two or more chemically distinct constituents having a clear interface separating them and with properties which cannot be obtained by any constituent material working individually [1]. One of the modern definitions of composite materials was given after 1990 and it says that: A modern composite material is a system formed of at least two constituents, in which the fiber volume fraction is at least 10% and in which the mechanical property values of one component are at least 5 times higher than the values of properties of the second component. [1]. As an example, While a high strength fiber can have a tensile strength of 3500 MPa or more, a typical polymeric matrix normally has a tensile strength of only 35 to 70 MPa [2]. 2.2. For example none of the firms pay taxes, and EBIT is $22,000 per year for both firms. There is no growth for any of the firms. EQT is an all equity firm with 1,000 shares outstanding and expected return of 22%. Since there is no growth, EQT will pay out all earnings to shareholders as dividends. In contrast, DBT has $40,000 worth of debt outstanding with interest rate of 5%. There are 500 shares of equity outstanding for DBT Corp. After the interest expense, DBT will also pay out all the earnings to its shareholders. (a) What are the equity values of both EQT Corp and DBT Corp? And, what are both companies stock prices? (b) What is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What would be the total equity value if Upjohn were 100% equity finance? 1. (a) Since EQT is an all equity firm, its earnings are $22,000. Thus firm value is the equity value, which is the discounted future dividends, VEQT =EEQT =$22,000/22% =$100,000. Since there are 1,000 share outstanding, price of EQT is: PEQT = $100,000/1,000=$100 per share. DBT is a leveled company. Since DBT and EQT are exactly the same except for their capital structure. We can consider DBT as the leveled company of EQT. According to MMI, when there is no tax, the value of an all equity firm should be equal to the value of the leveled company. Therefore, we have VDBT =VEQT = $100,000. The total equity value of DBT should be EDBT = VDBT DDBT = $100,000 $40,000 = $60,000. Therefore, we have the stock price for DBT: PDBT = $60,000/500=$120 (b) The expected return on DBT: ($22,000 5%*$40,000)/$60,000=33.33%. Therefore DBT is riskier than EQT since EQT has fewer number of equityholders but bears the same total amount of risk. (c) John s total dividend payment from holding 200 shares of EQTT Corp is $4,400 (=22%* ($100*200)). Since DBT is a leveled company, you need to unlevel yourself by selling some of your shares in DBT and deposit the proceeds at the risk free rate. • 50. Descriptive Essay On Beauty I had to decorate my head with flowers and was looking exquisite. My father had prohibited me from using scented perfumes. I also did not have slightest of interest in that. I have been brought up in nature. Where does beauty live? Is it in jewelry or clothes, in the body, in soul or in the eye of the beholder? I was wondering. Four chariots named Rug, Yarju, Sam and Atharva were constructed. The great father Brahma sat on Rug. Twayi and Anwikshika were sitting in Yarju. Varta and Niti were in Atharva. Yarju was decorated with beautiful flowers. A drape of flowers covered the front of the chariot. The fourth chariot Atharva was appearing like a bouquet of red flowers. I sat in the chariot Sam, which was decorated with vines and fragrant flowers. In front of me, a garland of white jasmine was hanging. I was bathing with the fragrance of the flowers. My whole body, my mind, and my soul were all filled with fragrance. No one could see me from outside the chariot. But, I could see through the vines and thorns. I did not know the logic behind bringing me to heaven like a prisoner. I was sitting with suppressed curiosity, but was enjoying the scenery of the Indraloka. Even though heaven s beauty amazed me, my mind was thinking about my motherland, the earth. My playground, the elegant forest on the foothills of the Himalayas was no way less beautiful. I could never accept that my unique mother land is less prosperous than the kingdom of Indraloka. After attending godhood, it was natural to become a lover of luxury. Hence, the kingdom of gods was so much a show off. If my motherland was a selfless hermit, the heaven was a hedonist beauty. If the Indraloka was so attractive, then how attractive Indra would be? After the discussion, I was supposed to come out of the chariot as if for a display. That time I could see without any hindrance and Indradeva could also see me. I remembered my first encounter with Indra. He was visiting my father in the ashram. His chariot was in the garden and I sat in it pretending to navigate it. As soon as I saw him returning to the chariot, I got scared. I slipped and fell while descending from the chariot and twisted my feet. I did not cry. Indradeva was already there. Before he ...
