Why Is Andrew Carnegie Important To America
The Man Behind the Steel
One of the captains of industry in 19th century America, Andrew Carnegie, helped build the
formidable American steel industry, a process that turned a poor young man into one of the richest
entrepreneurs of his age ( Andrew Carnegie ). Andrew Carnegie was beneficial to America in many
ways. He did this through the new technology he introduced to the steel industry, new programs,
public works, and other acts of generosity he committed. However, not only did he benefit the United
States, but he also preached world peace and helped to improve Europe, which indirectly benefited
America. Andrew Carnegie positively affected America through not only himself, but also his
Carnegie Steel Company.
To illustrate, Andrew Carnegie befor he created Carnegie Steel and made his fortune. He worked as a

Microsoft Visual Studio.Net is an object oriented program that is used to develop website and software

programming techniques. In the 70 s when Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates programmed
computers with basic. In the late 80 s and early 90 s he wanted to make programming windows
program simpler, so he developed a whole new visual user interface (GUI), which is the visual part of
the operating system that humans can interact with (Deitel Deitel, 2011). This is where the concept for
Visual Basic and C# programs to be developed in Visual Studio, which is a collection of software tools

programmer the ability to write, run, test, and debug in Basic and C# programs faster and easier than
previous versions (Deitel Deitel 2011, p. 6).
In the early 70 s, the C program language was developed, which became popular as the programming
language used for the UNIX operating system. C is an independent language used for hardware,
however with the right design it can be transfer to other computers (Deitel Deitel, 2011). To liven
thing up, in the early 80 s C++ object oriented program (OOP) was developed. It added objects to the
C language, which added more features that made turned objects in to reusable software components

Assisted Suicide Papers
Assisted Suicide dates all the way back to 500 BC when the ancient Greeks and Romans supported it,
to presently something going on in our lives. Assisted suicide is the suicide of a patient that is
suffering from an incurable disease, by taking lethal drugs that have been provided by a doctor for this
specific purpose. Euthanasia is the same thing, but the definitions are different. It is the painless
killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or an irreversible coma. This
practice is illegal in most countries, including the United States (excluding 2 individual states). There
are two types of euthanasia: passive and active. Passive euthanasia is when the patient dies because
the medical professionals either stop doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jack Death Kevorkian sparked the increased chatter about on hospice care and the right to die
legislation action. He was tried and convicted for murder in 1992 and became famous encouraging
and assisting people in committing suicide, assisting at least 130 people in ending their lives, and
saying dying is not a crime. The case that is most famous is when he assisted a 54 year old Alzheimer
s patient, Janet Adkins, in her suicide. She was a member of an organization that advocated voluntary
euthanasia for terminally ill patients. Janet was in search of someone to help her end her life before
she became too ill to do it. Dr. Kevorkian assisted her by attaching her to an IV and administering pain
killers and then poison. Janet Adkins died within minutes. Kevorkian was charged with her murder.
This shocked me because although it was voluntary and she had a valid reason to want to die, Dr.
Kevorkian still went to prison for it. His case was dismissed, but he continued in assisting suicides
which resulted in him going to jail for eight years. If all of the procedures were done with valid
consent, then I believe that he should not have been committed of any

Customer Complaints At The Hospitality Industry
Abstract
This paper delves into the realm of customer complaints in the Hospitality Industry. Issues that relate
to customer complaints in general, complaining as a process, the impact of customer complaints, the
most common complaints in the Hospitality Industry, hotel brands with the highest rate of complaints,
and handling guest complaints are discussed.
By examining the use of the LEARN Model to settle guest complaints by using the 5 elements of
Listening, Empathy, Apology, Reaction and Notification.
Themes explored include the value of complaining, customer satisfaction, widespread industry
complaints, and tools and methods of resolution.
Conclusions are presented as to the value of the discussed techniques and procedures in ... Show more

Barlow and Møller claim that complaints are not problems to be avoided but gifts to be welcomed.
They also write that complaints are important for several reasons, including:
You don t know how to improve your product or service if you don t know what s wrong.
Customer complaints can give you ideas for new products and services.
Complaints give you valuable information about what s important to people and what they re willing
to spend money on.
Complaints also tell you that the customer still wants to do business with you Most customers don t
complain they just take their business elsewhere, because they ve given up hope of getting what they
need from you.
Complaining as a Process:
Landon (1980) also argues that it is extremely useful to study the complaining process and that
companies can benefit greatly from the process of endeavoring to understand the causes, types,
motives, and style of consumer complaining. The author explains that the complaint process involves
the consumer s evaluation of dissatisfaction and the choice to make the dissatisfaction known. The
interaction between the consumer and the responsible party represents a process of confrontation and
negotiation.
Impact of Customer Complaints:
General knowledge is that customers are more perceptive to losses than gains which means that worse
than expected service is more damaging than better than expected service is beneficial (Rust et al.
1999).

Marketing Audit Essay
Introduction The focus of this report would be to assess the marketing activities of SONY
Corporation, focusing on one of its particular product which is the Playstation Portable, which is also
known as PSP for short. Although SONY had released various versions of the PSP, however, our main
focus would be on the original version of the PSP and also some emphasis would be given to PSP Go,
to elaborate on the current product that SONY is promoting. Through this analysis, we hope to
discover whether SONY has adopted the appropriate strategies and analytical thinking in their
marketing techniques to promote their product to their target markets. Background Portable media

Another reason for choosing the FE model12 is that it can solve the endogeneity problem through
using the FE IV model; the variable GDP per capita used as a proxy of income could be an
endogenous variable. An endogenous variables are variables that correlated with the error term (ε௜௧
), while the variables that uncorrelated with the error term are called exogenous variables. The
description of these terms explains that an endogenous variable is determined within the model itself
while an exogenous variable is determined outside the model. To understand the endogeneity, we will
use the classic regression equations that show the relationship between prices and wages: Price = + 0ߚ
1ߚWage + ε௜௧ .............................. (11) Wage = 0ߚ௔ + 1ߚ௕Price + ... Show more content on

As we reject the H°, the random effect model will produce biased estimates, so the FE model is used
alternatively. In FE, the τ௜ is correlated with the regressor ܺ௜௧ . 13 RGDP per capita is endogenous
variable in our model because of reverse causality; the effect between corruption and RGDP goes in
both directions; either RGDP affects corruption or corruption affects RGDP. 19 Chapter 3 Empirical
Evidence estimator is biased even in large sample and the FE IV t statistic and confidence intervals are
not true. In this paper, we will use one instrument which is the RGDP of the great importer in 2000.
Here is a description why I choose this instrument. First, a country that buys most of other country‟s
export can definitely increase the GDP of that country, as the exports will be included in the country‟s
GDP calculations. Second, there is no any reason for the GDP of one country to affect the corruption
level of another country, which means; there is no any correlation between the GDP of great importer
and the domestic factors in the country at which it buys most of its exports. 3.3.3 Regression Results
and Discussion Although some of the results in this paper support that in previous papers, but it shows
new other findings. Using FE IV estimation technique through using the RGDP of great importer as an
instrument for RGDP per capita, we find that, income, political stability and

Geological Disposal Of Nuclear Waste Disposal
If properly executed, nuclear waste disposal need not result in any negative effects on humankind or
our environment. The goal is to build a storage site that is capable of safely storing spent fuel until the
fuel is no longer radioactive. Current radioactive waste is stored at above ground facilities in
vulnerable cooling pools. The long term storage of radioactive waste ought to be in deep underground
engineered facilities. This is known as geological disposal. Geological disposal is the world s
preeminent option when approaching the rapid growth rate of nuclear waste. While numerous
countries have found this to be agreeable, it has become extremely hard to sell local communities on a
site. It is widely believed that if the general public accessed the same information that researchers
have, the community would not fear discussing nuclear waste. Researchers know that geological
disposal s many barriers keep the waste safe from leakage. The scientific community, after decades of
research, has decidedly agreed that geological disposal is the safest option for long term storage of
high level waste and Sweden, a country known for its strict environmental laws, is in the process of
building its disposal sites thanks to their hard work helping its citizens understand where their fears of
nuclear waste stem from and slowly dismissing them.
The general population seems to believe that radioactive waste remains a liquid essentially

How Do Infants And Toddlers Develop Their Cognitive...
How do infants and toddlers develop their cognitive abilities? Essentially, the formative years of
research on the aspect of cognitive growth in infants made certain assumptions, for instance, an infant
growth was significantly simplified. However, modern research indicates that there is a complex
pattern of cognitive development in infants. To answer the question, it is imperative to start by
understanding what the cognitive aspect of the development of infants is. Ideally, infants and toddlers
do not only develop physically at this early age; but the development also takes an around aspect of
the mind, the emotions, and the language. In all these, the only visible aspect of growth is the physical
development, the cognitive development is significantly assumed because it requires keen
observations. However, toddlers develop cognitively through various aspects of their surroundings.
Firstly, infants and toddlers cognitive development occurs through cause and effects. Early on in life,
infants develop expectancy things in their environment due to the routine. For instance, an infant
learns that when they cry, someone picks them up. Ideally, this becomes the anticipation for the
toddler as it grows up. Over time, this reactionary aspect aids the infants to relate between events and
consequences. The cognitive ability to predict the likely outcome of issues starts to develop in the
infant. Problem solving is another way through which infants and toddlers develop their

The UFO in the video has a striking resemblance to a man with a red fluorescent helmet, but many
think it is a space ship. The days of obscure extraterrestrial videos shot on poor equipment have been
replaced by a huge sum of UFO inspired short films on YouTube. Some YouTube videos are slightly
more convincing than others, and the legitimacy of any sighting is always in question.

Different works may have different binary oppositions than Cixous already mentioned in her essay,
but the principle is that in patriarchal binary thought the male is always the winner (147). The writer
finds another opposition but has not mentioned by Cixous, it is forgiveness and banishment . In the
novels, Lewis implies inequality of gender which always defends the male characters, just like Cixous
states that male always the victor (147). Lewis more to give special treatment to male and more to let
female characters fall. This inequality can be seen in the characters of Susan and Edmund Pevensie.

Taylorism And The Degradation Of Work
This paper will determine to what extent Taylorism has led to the degradation of work, and thus the
extent to which the question statement is true. In terms of key phrases, this essay focuses on
degradation of work, knowledge workers and Taylorism. When this paper refers to degradation of
work it refers to the reduction in technical input by labour through the process of scientific
management as defined by Spencer, (2000). Additionally, when this paper mentions knowledge
workers it defines them as workers who perform non routine tasks after training and education (Paton,
2012). Furthermore, when this essay mentions Taylorism it refers to the core characteristics of
scientific management: division of labour and reducing the autonomy of workers, as defined in the
work of Paton, (2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This essay will determine the extent to which the statement is true, by analysing the supporting and
undermining arguments. The supporting arguments are first analysed, through evaluating the
replacement of unskilled labour by capital and the breakdown of complex processes. Then the counter
arguments are considered, by focusing on the development of the knowledge economy and the impact
of specialisation on knowledge workers. This essay will conclude that Taylorism hasn t led to the
degradation of work to a full extent as most importantly it has the opposite effect on knowledge
workers by upskilling their occupations, through improving their depth of knowledge. However,
Taylorism still degrades a significant amount of work in the economy, leading to polarisation. Thus,
the statement is only true to a partial

she felt that if anyone found out, it would end up hurting up his whole family, children included. I

J: I m in two minds whether or not to finish it altogether, imagine how the kids would feel if they
found out, everyone would get hurt.
S: So you re feeling unsure as what to do, whether to end the relation ship or not. (reflecting feeling)
J: Yes, I want to keep seeing him but I don t want anyone getting hurt, but I suppose his wife will find
out eventually anyway. (response)
Jillian talked about being mixed up and not being able to decide if she really wanted a relationship or
if she was just scared of being alone. I paraphrased this back to Jillian.
J: I don t think I want a proper relationship, I mean I don t love him and sometimes it feels like he s

of being on your own. (paraphrase)

Third Grade Difficulties
When I was in the third grade I felt as if I didn t fit in anywhere. During the third grade I always felt
very different than the other kids. I remember begging my mom not to make me go to school because
I didn t want to feel out of place. I had gone to three different schools before going to East Somerville
Community School. My parents were trying to find the town that had the best education system. I didn
t move for my parents job or anything like that, just simply to go to a better school. I normally didn t
have a problem making new friends, I usually made a bunch of friends just on the first day. I usually
adapted to the school easily. I attended a bilingual school for English and Spanish speaking kids. I
have always been fluent in spanish for as long as I could remember even though english is my first
language. That wasn t the problem. All the other kids had started to read and write spanish in
kindergarten, and I had to learn everything in just a short amount of time, and it was difficult for me.
People didn t play with me or want to be around me, I didn t know why. I could see their dislike
towards me and it was very obvious. They would try and act as if they truly did like me but they
clearly didn t. It was like they felt sorry for me and I didn t want their pity. I was never invited to

Humor And Alcoholism Essay
Humor and Alcoholism

When I think of alcoholism, the first thing that comes to my mind of course is alcohol and then an
addiction to some extent that cannot be broken or a disease that may be hereditary that has been
carried from generation to generation. I never would think to add humor in the equation when explain
or trying to figure out exactly how it fits into the category of alcoholism. However, after some
research I ve found that alcoholism is definitely considered to be an addiction when the person is
suffering from depending on alcohol in order to get by (Farrand, 1896). From prior knowledge, I
understand that when a person drinks alcohol it blurs vision, slurs language, and can even alter the

There are also other diseases that humor can be effected in certain areas of the brain, including

may also be effected when a disease takes over the body because the brain keeps the whole the body
functioning, no matter what the disease is. Earlier in the article I explained that there was a low
percentage of Alcoholism in the human population, but it has risen over time because in most years
getting alcohol has become easier over the years; especially when it comes to college campus and

The Gospel Of John The Baptist
Everyone, who has studied the Gospel, has heard of John the Baptist. He had prepared the way for
Jesus ministry long before He came to earth. He was just a man, who baptized other people, who
believed. There is a lot more to John the Baptist though.
1. It is written that John the Baptist was to fulfill a prophesy mentioned from Isaiah about a messenger
being sent ahead, and a voice crying out in the wilderness (Isaiah 40:3 5.)
2. Malachi also prophesied about John in Malachi 3:1.
3. Zechariah and Elizabeth was a couple in their old age. They were just ordinary people who lived in
the course of Abia, until Gabriel (or an angel of the Lord, mentioned in this section,) had foretold of
their son s birth John the Baptist (Luke 1:11 17.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people were brought to Jesus through John (Matthew 3:5 6.)
10. In Matthew 3, John the Baptist preached in the wilderness of Judea (Matthew 3:1.) It is stated that
John the Baptist lived as a timid man and was straight to the point. My assumption is he did not enjoy
preaching in a town. He probably would feel very uncomfortable, so he chose to teach in the
wilderness.
11. John the Baptist is the one who baptized Jesus (Matthew 3:13 17.)
12. John didn t intend to baptize Jesus. Immediately, he recognized that Jesus was sinless. John the

Baptist went as far as to say, I should be the one getting baptized by you! (Matthew 3:14.) What an
experience it must have been to baptize Jesus!
13. John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River (Mark 1:9.)
14. According to John 3:27 30, the people, who John the Baptist taught, thought he was the Messiah.
15. John was humble and said I m not worthy of even carrying His sandals (Matthew 3:11.)
16. Not only did the people think John the Baptist was Christ, but they also had a few other ideas

Executive Summary
The Property Crimes study examined data provided by various U.S. government agencies on crime
rates in the fifty U.S. states. Other data studied were eight possible contributing factors such as per
capita income, high school dropout rate, average precipitation, population density, and urbanization.
Analysis revealed, of the eight possible contributing factors, three of those variables (urbanization
rate, high school dropout rate and population density) affected property crime rates. Of the given data,

Essay on Various Attitudes Toward Love in Romeo and Juliet
In the first scene of Act one there is the servants Sampson and Gregory talking about sexual love. As
they both talk about taking girls virginity. They both sound arrogant as they talk as if it is through
experience. To them the thoughts of taking a girl s virginity seems a joking matter.
... maidenheads take it... (maidenheads virginities)
They speak of women as assets instead of people; the two boys also use love as though it is a weapon
to hurt. So saying love is painful.
Sampson and Gregory are itching for a fight as they both believe that they have just as much right to
defend the name capulet as any other member of the family. So there is also this love for the name and
for the fight as though they are children awaiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They spend a lot of time together as Benvolio finishes some of Romeo s sentences.
Romeo: Out
Benvolio: Of love?
Romeo seems to be miserable as he is in love with Rosaline yet Rosaline is not in love with him. Once
Romeo learns that the Capulet s are holding a party at which Rosaline is attending he risks his life just
to be with the one he loves. Romeo is passionate for love.
She is too fair, too wise; wisely too fair,
There is also a parental love for Juliet when lord Capulet is talking to Paris as he is very
overprotective and wants to make sure that his daughter only gets the best. He is also trying to delay
the marriage by saying it is better to wait a while.
She is the hopeful lady of my earth.
Lord Capulet does love Juliet but he thinks of himself as the dominant figure. Which is how it would
have been as the fathers did tend to take the dominant figure of the family. It is a very unequal
relationship.
The nurse has a love for Juliet as if she was her own and you can tell this by the way she knows things
her mother does not. For example her age.
Faith I can tell her age unto the an hour
This is not a sign of bad parenting but merely the fact that lady Capulet has not been there whereas the
nurse has. So the nurse may feel more responsibility towards Juliet as she has brought her up. Lady
Capulet seems not to be able to be around her daughter without

Imposing Our Own Ideological Frameworks onto Virginia Woolf and Her Writing
Whenever we try to imagine the feelings or motives of a writer, we impose our own thoughts and
ideas, our own biases, onto that person and their work. Perhaps in order to justify our choices or
legitimate the philosophies that we hold dear, we interpret texts so that they fall into place in our own
ideological frameworks. Literature, because it engages with the most important and passionate
questions in life, evokes responses in readers that emanate not only from the mind but also from the
subconscious and from the deepest places in the heart. Writers like Virginia Woolf ask, and sometimes
answer, questions about life s meaning, about the nature and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Much critical writing on Woolf reflects a strong desire to locate her definitely within either a
heterosexual or homosexual framework. These interpretations of Woolf s sexuality, in her life and her
writings, are varied and reflect anxieties within the culture about the role of women, the nature of
sexual identity, and the fear society has of people who do not conform to traditional heterosexual or
homosexual models.
While critical views are many and varied, it is possible to loosely identify two groups at opposite
poles in this debate. Some conservative male critics are invested in re creating a Woolf who was a
devoted wife and daughter, someone who enjoyed close friendships with women but someone who
respected the primacy of heterosexual norms. They largely ignore the potential homosexual
interpretations of Woolf s work and brush aside her relationship with Vita Sackville West because
acknowledging those things in any real way would threaten the established patriarchal order. Nigel

Virginia as tentative and not very successful and claims, It is a travesty of their relationship to call it

Racism and the Enslavement of African Americans
Did Racism cause enslavement of African Americans? To answer this question you have to determine

somebody does for you. You own them so they work for you otherwise they will get punished. Now
Racism is a negative attitude towards another race. After these to words are cleared up you come to a
conclusion that racism in the 17th century caused enslavement of African Americans. To believe this
you have to look at the history left for us to read. The court papers, and journals of people back in the

Because he was a different color John Punch no longer had hope for freedom. Why, because he was

presumably lay in the fact that he was non Christian rather than in the fact that he was physically dark.
But religious beliefs could change, while skin color could not. Within a generation race, religion was

What were needed in Jamestown were laborers. Or what we call slaves to clear fields, to plant and

The Impact Of Literature On Literature And The Social View...
Literature possess the capability to vastly influence the world, and those who find a way to impact
literature drive the powerful influence. Few people in the history of literature publicized as many
thoughts and critical views as T.S. Eliot, and by disseminating his opinions throughout the literature
world, Eliot found a way to communicate new perspectives and tastes in literature (Worthen). Born in
the fall of 1888, T.S. Eliot grew up to become one of the most influential poets of all time, as he found
a unique way of communicating through literature. Sometimes referred to as the keeper of the

of T.S. Eliot offer an inside perspective on Eliot s life.. In Volume 1 of the revised edition of the letters
Patrick Query describes how T.S. Eliot felt so much passion for culture and how it must improve
(Letters, Volume 1). In the volume, the writer states that Eliot started a movement to modernize
literature all on his own. Eliot contained such a strong passion for making the world a better place,
that as society generally acted apathetic towards life, Eliot strived for a culture where people actually
inserted energy and passion into life. Also, in John Worthen s biography of T.S. Eliot, the author
believes Eliot focused the entire masterpiece of Four Quartets on illustrating to his audience despite
painful times in life, people must focus more on the beauty of life (Worthen). Devoting much of his
literature career to impacting society, Eliot often focused on changing the lack of enthusiasm culture
contained. Besides driving culture forward in passion for life, Eliot lived at the forefront of
contemporary literature. Before the 20th century, literature followed many traditions and guidelines
throughout its poems, essays, novels, and plays, but T.S. Eliot played a significant role in bringing
about literary modernism. One of Eliot s great works, Four Quartets

AMD is the leading cause of blindness in the elderly population, which was estimated to affect around
200 million people worldwide in 2020[1] and places vast socioeconomic burden. Degeneration of
retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) is believed to play central roles in AMD pathogenesis. RPE is a
monolayer of highly pigmented cuboidal cells residing between the photoreceptors (PRs) and Bruch s

and phagocytosis of outer segments[2]. As a layer of epithelium, RPE cells selectively transport

marked by the formation of fibrotic disciform scars on the fovea, which will lead to a permanent
central vision loss [3]. Identification of RPE derived fibrotic cells in surgically excised fibrotic
disciform scars from wet AMD patients[4] suggests that RPE cells undergo proliferation and an

use of anti vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy can ameliorate the condition; however,
this treatment can not prevent the formation of scar tissues and can not restore the loss of RPE

The New Zealand Lesser Short tailed bat (Mystacina tuberculata) is an endangered bat, endemic to
New Zealand. It diverges into three subspecies, of which two are endangered and one is at risk
(Department of Conservation [DOC], 2012). It is one of three original native bat species in New

foraging adults weighing between 10 to 22 grams (Carter Riskin, 2006). An adult body length can
extend up to 70mm and with an average wingspan between 280 300mm wide (Carter Riskin, 2006).
They have a brown grey coat colour that lightens in the ventral areas and similar skin colour (Carter

We can see political inequality through the exploitation of the poor, which is represented by the
Farmers, by the rich, represented by the Cojuangco Aquino clan; this exploitation is present because of
the rivalry in property between the two groups.
The Cojuangcos, who owns the vast 6,000 hectare property, are the ones who control the people who

Synthesis Of Alcohol Lab Report
a) Alcohol is absorbed straight into the blood stream and through the walls of the small intestine. Once
absorbed there are some ways by which the body can get rid of it. For example, through the kidneys
and urine, sweat, and some is even breathed out through the lungs (this is how breathalyzers work).
However, about 90% of it is broken down by the liver. Additionally, a healthy liver will only get rid of
the alcohol contained in a normal sized drink per hour. This means, when you drink more than one
glass per hour, alcohol accumulates in the body which pushes your blood alcohol concentration (BAC)

Genetic and Environmental Influences on Individual...
The evidence for genetic contribution to individual intelligence are (1) Family studies indicate that
intelligence occurs in families, (2) Twin studies illustrate a greater link within identical twins in IQ
than between non identical, or fraternal , twins. This is true even when identical twins raised apart are
contrasted with fraternal twins reared together. (3) Adoption studies suggest that adopted children are
slightly comparable to their biological parents in intelligence.
The focus here is on differences and similarities and the extent in which they are created by genetic
effects, in contrast to environmental influences. Because family components are genetically similar,
traits found within that family can be reasonably designated as ... Show more content on

So, twin studies suggest that genes play a very important role, but are not the only factor, since if they
were; the correlation between identical twins would be 1.
Identical twins raised in separate environments are almost as similar in g measurements as those raised
together. Adopted children and their adoptive parents have a g correlation of zero, of course, while
adopted children and their biological parents are likely to have the same correlations as any parent
child set. So although genes do not seem to be the sole factor mediating intelligence, their effects do
seem to be unvarying and likely not superseded by environment.
In this way, twin studies give psychologists greater insight into the role of genes in intelligence.
Critics of twin studies suggest that twin similarities may be a result of chance rather than evidence of
heredity at work. Also, because adopted twin children tend to be placed in similar settings, critics
suggest that the trait similarities may be a matter of comparable experience rather than one of heredity.
Adoption studies allow psychologists to decide on the influence of genetics and environment on
human development by determining whether adopted children are more like their biological parents,
who provide their genetic makeup, or their adoptive parents, who provide the environmental
influences. These studies show that

Similarities Between It s A Wonderful Life And Bartleby...
In It s a Wonderful Life and Bartleby, The Scrivener, Capra and Melville illustrate the responsibility
that humans extend to fellow human beings, what they owe one another and why they think so. Both
authors works include characters that use ethics to determine what they owe people based on ethical
value. However, this process is not one that occurs in isolation; Capra and Melville s settings affect
their characters ability to judge ethical value. Through George and Clarence s journey, Capra shows
the transition from Bedford Falls to Pottersville and back to Bedford Falls, and how these changes
contribute to the characters perceived ethics. The mid 20th century film exposes the danger of
consumerism in transforming a small town of morally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After George saves Clarence from drowning, Clarence reveals to George and the Tollkeeper that he
tricked George into saving him: I didn t fall in. I jumped in to save George (Capra, It s a Wonderful
Life). Clarence s assertion confirms his awareness of George s ethical value, knowing George would
save him and this would prevent him from suicide. Soon after, George wishes he had never been born
and Bedford Falls transforms into Pottersville. Now in Pottersville, people do not know George Bailey
and they treat him poorly, unable to perceive his ethical value. Stopping by what was Martini s and is
now Nick s Place, Nick does not recognize George when he calls him by his name: What s that got to
do with it? I don t know you from Adam s off ox (Capra, It s a Wonderful Life). Nick does not know
George and this contributes to his and Clarence s being tossed from the bar. Walking through the
streets, George takes in all that Bedford Falls becomes without him and the Building and Loan. The
ethics of the small town has been replaced with flashy lights, pawnshops, glitzy theaters, and crude
people to fill it. On his ride with Bert in his police car, George learns what has come of Bert s life: I
live in a shack in Potter s Field and my wife ran away three years ago and took the kid...And I ain t
never seen you before in my life, see? (Capra, It s a Wonderful Life). Without the Building and Loan,
people like Bert do not get homes and are forced to live in Potter s Field, making him crass and
unprincipled, as evidenced by his firing his gun into an open crowd. Like the others, Bert does not
recognize George nor understand his ethics; he wishes to put George in a mental

Bakken Pipeline Spill
Spill, baby, spill: As Sierra Club s Michael Brune puts it, It s not a question if a pipeline will
malfunction, but rather a question of when. And, though they spill less often than trains do, the
International Energy Agency found that pipelines spill much more in terms of volume three times as
much between 2004 and 2012. The Bakken Pipeline s route takes it through active farmland, forests,
and across the heartland s major rivers: The Big Sioux, the Missouri, and the Mississippi, some with
multiple crossings, though the US Fish and Wildlife Service claims that no critical habitat is
endangered. It also runs through sacred Native American lands (more on this below).
Enbridge Inc., a stakeholder in the Bakken pipeline, has a speckled track record on spills. In 2010, an
Enbridge pipeline spilled 1.2 million gallons of crude into the Kalamazoo River, one of the worst
inland spills in American history. Because the pipeline qualifies as a utility (despite being privately
owned and for profit), the Army Corps of Engineers was able to certify it without performing an
environmental impact statement, as all utilities projects qualify as minimal impact. These projects are
subject to environmental assessments every five years.

Eggplant Persuasive Essay
Summer has arrived and with it comes the celebrated backyard BBQ. Although hot dogs and
hamburgers are the norm at outdoor shindigs, as a host, you can t forget to provide a vegetarian
alternative for your non meat eating friends. Keeping it simple does not have to mean a boring salad,
instead put your Samsung range appliance to good use and create a delicious roasted eggplant pesto
sandwich, and don t be surprised if your meat eating guests ask to sample this veggie delight during
your party.
Roasted Eggplant Pesto Sandwich
What You ll Need

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
2. Cut the eggplant into 1/4 slices. Leave the eggplant skin on. However, if you prefer, you can
remove the skin.
3. Coat both sides of each eggplant slice with olive oil, and place them on a parchment covered baking
sheet. Sprinkle with salt to taste
4. Roast the eggplant in your oven for 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes are up, take the eggplant out
and flip the slices before placing the eggplant back in the oven to cook for another 10 minutes.
5. Turn over the eggplant one last time and roast for another 3 to 5 minutes. The slices should be moist
and soft, and appear slightly browned when they are done.
6. Cut open your ciabatta bread and toast it on a baking sheet in the oven. Once the bread is nice and
crispy, take it out and spread your chosen pesto sauce on one side. On top of that add a piece of aged
white cheddar cheese. If you would like the cheese slightly melted, place the ciabatta bread back in the
oven for a minute or two.
7. After the eggplant slices and ciabatta have cooled down start making your sandwiches. If you want
a little extra flavor, top the sandwich off with a wedge or two of avocado.

Similarities Between The British East India Trading Company
The Dutch East India Trading Company and the British East India Company had several similarities
between the two. An obvious similarity was the fact that they were both trading companies that were
located within east India. Some other similarities include that they both traded raw materials. Another
similarity between the two was that they had people work on farms for them in order to get their cash
crops. Adding to the cash crops, many farmland would be taken over by cash crops. In doing so, the
cash crops brought great success and wealth to each of the trading companies; however, it also
brought the same difficulties to the people. People would have much of their farmland taken from
them in order for the plantation of cash crops. This would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s trading posts were set up along Bombay, Madras, and Calcutta. After the collapse of the Mughal
Empire, the British East India Trading Company began to increase in success. As it continued its
growth, the British government began regulating it. For the most part, the British government did not
interfere with the East India Trading Company. The British East India Trading Company was
extremely useful when it came to raw resources. India was able to produce the resources needed by
the British. In addition, they created their own railroad network. With the railroad network, they were
able to transport their products. The railroad network had been a huge step up for the British East
India Trading Company. They were now able to transport plantation crops such as tea, indigo, coffee,
cotton, jute, and opium. Trade with many of these crops was because of international events. For
example, if a resource was limited at the time, India would make a large profit off of it if they could
provide it. In the end, the British East India Trading Company made life in India better. It led to the
modernization of India which allowed them to catch up with the rest of the

How Customer Service Has Grown And Changed Over The Years
This paper explores three published articles that report on subjects having to do with customer
support. Be the relationships online (Internet) and offline (non Internet) and how they relate to
customer service and the help desk environments. The articles have little variance in how they treat
and face the subject matter as this is more about the history and thus not a very subjective topic. This
paper examines these three works in relation to each other and to show how customer service has
grown and changed over the years, from face to face interactions to computer mediated
communication.
Keywords: customer service, help desk
The modern help desk is something most every consumer of technology will experience now days, be
it through toll free numbers, websites, instant messaging or e mail. However this is just what a help
desk has evolved into in the modern day. The need for good customer relations has been around since
the client customer model came into use. Known as customer support , it has changed dramatically
over the past 100 years.
The term help desk originally meant the place where employees would get technical support relating
to their company s information technologies infrastructure, recently the scope of this term has
expanded in its meaning and use. For instance in some educational settings the term could refer to
help provided in the reference library. Before the turn of the century customer and client interaction

Shakespeare s Sonnet Figurative Language
Depicting the reality of love, Of Shakespeare s Sonnets contrasts the traditional idea of everlasting
love with the actual experience of the speaker. Through personification, allusion, irony, imagery, and
dialogue, the speaker initially portrays the idealistic view of love, but later rejects and mocks the
belief in such love. The poem incorporates elements from both the Petrarchan and Shakespearean
sonnet, which emphasizes the traditional everlasting love and hints freedom of love by the
unconventionality of mixing both forms. The speaker introduces the type of love that Shakespeare
portrays in the sonnets and reflects on the effects of such love. In the beginning, the speaker addresses
you about the knowledge of love. The personification ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is a sonnet with three quatrains and a couplet divided into two stanzas that closely
resembles the Petrarchan sonnet form. The speaker emphasizes the traditional aspect of the love
through the conventional form of the sonnet. From the division between the stanzas in a Petrarchan
sonnet, the speaker introduces a shift from the speaker s observation on traditional love because the
second stanza in a Petrarchan sonnet presents a counterargument. With the shift, the speaker suggests
a separation between the traditional and modern love; therefore, the Petrarchan sonnet emphasizes the
differences between the past and the present. When the speaker replies that hopefully no one will
uncover the chords, words such as unmuffle, mysterious, unresolved, becloud, and clearly develops
obscured vs. clear imagery. The contrast presents a conflict of revealing the truth about the modern
theme of love, which suggests that the truth is too hard to accept. Because there is more obscured
imagery, the speaker suggests that the truth is hidden in secret and that there is a small possibility of
the truth coming to light. The contrast suggests that only a few, represented by the clear imagery,
acknowledge the truth, and the majority, represented by the obscured imagery, are clouded by the their
dreams. The speaker wishes that people s dreams will hide the

War Of 1812 Facts
A man by the name of Charles R. Morris once wrote a quote that stated, A war fought in such a left
handed slapdash manner on both sides. This war probably America s most unknown war. Although the
war has been written and talked a lot about, most Americans are only slightly aware of why we fought
and who our enemy was. Just take a second and realize that the year of 1812 was not just another year,
it was the year one country was so angry and enraged, they declared war on another country.
Considering the War of 1812 was mainly a chaos of naval activity, imagine cannons blasting into ships
shredding it into pieces! Screaming and yelling to position their ships in the most perfect way so they
can get the most devastating blow to the other wooden block of gunpowder and explosives. Tired,
worn down sailors getting captured and taken under imprisonment, all of this nonsense because a
country doesn t get their way. The War of 1812 was between Great Britain, North American Colonies,
Native Americans and the U.S. The war started in the old timey days where they rode their horses and
had to fight off indians, or scavengers just to get to a town. This war ... Show more content on

Was it just Naval conflicts between two countries? Was it just ground war between indians and army
men with disciplined war techniques, or was is just two countries in a disagreement about another
country trading with them? The war of 1812 was about all of these questions that you might ask. What
side do you take? Do you take the U.S side that was just trying to be neutral and help both countries,
or do you take the British side, the countries that wanted all the advantage on France just to win a
country. Should the moral of the War of 1812 be that just let people be and choose your own battles, or
should it be take no mercy and and rise to the top? Just take a second and let these questions sink in
your head. Have you found your answer to what you think of the War of

American Democracy Ideal Democracy
American democracy is not ideal democracy. Low voter turnout, excessive sums of money that is
poured into elections, and the increasingly unpopular Electoral College leaves American democracy
from being an ideal, well functioning democratic electoral system. American democracy, however, has
never been closer to an ideal democracy than it is now. The endless information voters have due to the
Internet allows voters to cast their ballots with more confidence and information than ever before.
More information available to voters means more accountability for elected officials. Voting has
become much easier and accessible than ever before. Absentee ballots and early voting allows voters
to cast their ballots without hassle and on their own time.

Assisted suicide is the suicide of a patient that is suffering from an incurable disease, by taking lethal drugs that have been provided by a doctor for this specific purpose. Euthanasia is the same thing, but the definitions are different. It is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or an irreversible coma. He was tried and convicted for murder in 1992 and became famous encouraging and assisting people in committing suicide, assisting at least 130 people in ending their lives, and saying dying is not a crime. The case that is most famous is when he assisted a 54 year old Alzheimer s patient, Janet Adkins, in her suicide. She was a member of an organization that advocated voluntary euthanasia for terminally ill patients. Janet was in search of someone to help her end her life before she became too ill to do it. Dr. Kevorkian assisted her by attaching her to an IV and administering pain killers and then poison. Janet Adkins died within minutes. Kevorkian was charged with her murder. This shocked me because although it was voluntary and she had a valid reason to want to die, Dr. Kevorkian still went to prison for it. His case was dismissed, but he continued in assisting suicides which resulted in him going to jail for eight years. Barlow and Møller claim that complaints are not problems to be avoided but gifts to be welcomed. They also write that complaints are important for several reasons, including: You don t know how to improve your product or service if you don t know what s wrong. Customer complaints can give you ideas for new products and services. Complaints give you valuable information about what s important to people and what they re willing to spend money on. Complaints also tell you that the customer still wants to do business with you Most customers don t complain they just take their business elsewhere, because they ve given up hope of getting what they need from you. Complaining as a Process: Landon (1980) also argues that it is extremely useful to study the complaining process and that companies can benefit greatly from the process of endeavoring to understand the causes, types, motives, and style of consumer complaining. The author explains that the complaint process involves the consumer s evaluation of dissatisfaction and the choice to make the dissatisfaction known. The interaction between the consumer and the responsible party represents a process of confrontation and negotiation. Impact of Customer Complaints: General knowledge is that customers are more perceptive to losses than gains which means that worse than expected service is more damaging than better than expected service is beneficial (Rust et al. 1999). Another reason for choosing the FE model12 is that it can solve the endogeneity problem through using the FE IV model; the variable GDP per capita used as a proxy of income could be an endogenous variable. An endogenous variables are variables that correlated with the error term (ε௜௧ ), while the variables that uncorrelated with the error term are called exogenous variables. The description of these terms explains that an endogenous variable is determined within the model itself while an exogenous variable is determined outside the model. To understand the endogeneity, we will use the classic regression equations that show the relationship between prices and wages: Price = + 0ߚ 1ߚWage + ε௜௧ .............................. In this paper, we will use one instrument which is the RGDP of the great importer in 2000. Here is a description why I choose this instrument. First, a country that buys most of other country‟s export can definitely increase the GDP of that country, as the exports will be included in the country‟s GDP calculations. Second, there is no any reason for the GDP of one country to affect the corruption level of another country, which means; there is no any correlation between the GDP of great importer and the domestic factors in the country at which it buys most of its exports. 3.3.3 Regression Results and Discussion Although some of the results in this paper support that in previous papers, but it shows new other findings. The goal is to build a storage site that is capable of safely storing spent fuel until the fuel is no longer radioactive. Researchers know that geological disposal s many barriers keep the waste safe from leakage. • 9. How Do Infants And Toddlers Develop Their Cognitive... How do infants and toddlers develop their cognitive abilities? Essentially, the formative years of research on the aspect of cognitive growth in infants made certain assumptions, for instance, an infant growth was significantly simplified. However, modern research indicates that there is a complex pattern of cognitive development in infants. To answer the question, it is imperative to start by understanding what the cognitive aspect of the development of infants is. Ideally, infants and toddlers do not only develop physically at this early age; but the development also takes an around aspect of the mind, the emotions, and the language. In all these, the only visible aspect of growth is the physical development, the cognitive development is significantly assumed because it requires keen observations. However, toddlers develop cognitively through various aspects of their surroundings. Firstly, infants and toddlers cognitive development occurs through cause and effects. Early on in life, infants develop expectancy things in their environment due to the routine. For instance, an infant learns that when they cry, someone picks them up. Ideally, this becomes the anticipation for the toddler as it grows up. Over time, this reactionary aspect aids the infants to relate between events and consequences. The cognitive ability to predict the likely outcome of issues starts to develop in the infant. Problem solving is another way through which infants and toddlers develop their ... • 42. Genetic and Environmental Influences on Individual... The evidence for genetic contribution to individual intelligence are (1) Family studies indicate that intelligence occurs in families, (2) Twin studies illustrate a greater link within identical twins in IQ than between non identical, or fraternal , twins. This is true even when identical twins raised apart are contrasted with fraternal twins reared together. (3) Adoption studies suggest that adopted children are slightly comparable to their biological parents in intelligence. The focus here is on differences and similarities and the extent in which they are created by genetic effects, in contrast to environmental influences. Because family components are genetically similar, traits found within that family can be reasonably designated as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, twin studies suggest that genes play a very important role, but are not the only factor, since if they were; the correlation between identical twins would be 1. Identical twins raised in separate environments are almost as similar in g measurements as those raised together. Adopted children and their adoptive parents have a g correlation of zero, of course, while adopted children and their biological parents are likely to have the same correlations as any parent child set. So although genes do not seem to be the sole factor mediating intelligence, their effects do seem to be unvarying and likely not superseded by environment. In this way, twin studies give psychologists greater insight into the role of genes in intelligence. Critics of twin studies suggest that twin similarities may be a result of chance rather than evidence of heredity at work. Also, because adopted twin children tend to be placed in similar settings, critics suggest that the trait similarities may be a matter of comparable experience rather than one of heredity. Adoption studies allow psychologists to decide on the influence of genetics and environment on human development by determining whether adopted children are more like their biological parents, who provide their genetic makeup, or their adoptive parents, who provide the environmental influences. These studies show that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Similarities Between It s A Wonderful Life And Bartleby... In It s a Wonderful Life and Bartleby, The Scrivener, Capra and Melville illustrate the responsibility that humans extend to fellow human beings, what they owe one another and why they think so. Both authors works include characters that use ethics to determine what they owe people based on ethical value. However, this process is not one that occurs in isolation; Capra and Melville s settings affect their characters ability to judge ethical value. Through George and Clarence s journey, Capra shows the transition from Bedford Falls to Pottersville and back to Bedford Falls, and how these changes contribute to the characters perceived ethics. The mid 20th century film exposes the danger of consumerism in transforming a small town of morally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After George saves Clarence from drowning, Clarence reveals to George and the Tollkeeper that he tricked George into saving him: I didn t fall in. I jumped in to save George (Capra, It s a Wonderful Life). Clarence s assertion confirms his awareness of George s ethical value, knowing George would save him and this would prevent him from suicide. Soon after, George wishes he had never been born and Bedford Falls transforms into Pottersville. Now in Pottersville, people do not know George Bailey and they treat him poorly, unable to perceive his ethical value. Stopping by what was Martini s and is now Nick s Place, Nick does not recognize George when he calls him by his name: What s that got to do with it? I don t know you from Adam s off ox (Capra, It s a Wonderful Life). Nick does not know George and this contributes to his and Clarence s being tossed from the bar. Walking through the streets, George takes in all that Bedford Falls becomes without him and the Building and Loan. The ethics of the small town has been replaced with flashy lights, pawnshops, glitzy theaters, and crude people to fill it. On his ride with Bert in his police car, George learns what has come of Bert s life: I live in a shack in Potter s Field and my wife ran away three years ago and took the kid...And I ain t never seen you before in my life, see? (Capra, It s a Wonderful Life). Without the Building and Loan, people like Bert do not get homes and are forced to live in Potter s Field, making him crass and unprincipled, as evidenced by his firing his gun into an open crowd. And, though they spill less often than trains do, the International Energy Agency found that pipelines spill much more in terms of volume three times as much between 2004 and 2012. The Bakken Pipeline s route takes it through active farmland, forests, and across the heartland s major rivers: The Big Sioux, the Missouri, and the Mississippi, some with multiple crossings, though the US Fish and Wildlife Service claims that no critical habitat is endangered. It also runs through sacred Native American lands (more on this below). Enbridge Inc., a stakeholder in the Bakken pipeline, has a speckled track record on spills. In 2010, an Enbridge pipeline spilled 1.2 million gallons of crude into the Kalamazoo River, one of the worst inland spills in American history. Because the pipeline qualifies as a utility (despite being privately owned and for profit), the Army Corps of Engineers was able to certify it without performing an environmental impact statement, as all utilities projects qualify as minimal impact. An obvious similarity was the fact that they were both trading companies that were located within east India. Some other similarities include that they both traded raw materials. The British East India Trading Company was extremely useful when it came to raw resources. India was able to produce the resources needed by the British. In addition, they created their own railroad network. With the railroad network, they were able to transport their products. The railroad network had been a huge step up for the British East India Trading Company. They were now able to transport plantation crops such as tea, indigo, coffee, cotton, jute, and opium. Trade with many of these crops was because of international events. For example, if a resource was limited at the time, India would make a large profit off of it if they could provide it. Through personification, allusion, irony, imagery, and dialogue, the speaker initially portrays the idealistic view of love, but later rejects and mocks the belief in such love. The poem incorporates elements from both the Petrarchan and Shakespearean sonnet, which emphasizes the traditional everlasting love and hints freedom of love by the unconventionality of mixing both forms. The speaker introduces the type of love that Shakespeare portrays in the sonnets and reflects on the effects of such love. In the beginning, the speaker addresses you about the knowledge of love. The speaker emphasizes the traditional aspect of the love through the conventional form of the sonnet. From the division between the stanzas in a Petrarchan sonnet, the speaker introduces a shift from the speaker s observation on traditional love because the second stanza in a Petrarchan sonnet presents a counterargument. With the shift, the speaker suggests a separation between the traditional and modern love; therefore, the Petrarchan sonnet emphasizes the differences between the past and the present. When the speaker replies that hopefully no one will uncover the chords, words such as unmuffle, mysterious, unresolved, becloud, and clearly develops obscured vs. clear imagery. The contrast presents a conflict of revealing the truth about the modern theme of love, which suggests that the truth is too hard to accept. Because there is more obscured imagery, the speaker suggests that the truth is hidden in secret and that there is a small possibility of the truth coming to light. The contrast suggests that only a few, represented by the clear imagery, acknowledge the truth, and the majority, represented by the obscured imagery, are clouded by the their dreams. This war probably America s most unknown war. Although the war has been written and talked a lot about, most Americans are only slightly aware of why we fought and who our enemy was. Just take a second and realize that the year of 1812 was not just another year, it was the year one country was so angry and enraged, they declared war on another country. Considering the War of 1812 was mainly a chaos of naval activity, imagine cannons blasting into ships shredding it into pieces! Screaming and yelling to position their ships in the most perfect way so they can get the most devastating blow to the other wooden block of gunpowder and explosives. Tired, worn down sailors getting captured and taken under imprisonment, all of this nonsense because a country doesn t get their way.
