Evaluation is defined as the systematic determination of the merit, worth and significance of a subject using pre-defined criteria and standards. It is used to assess goals, proposals or alternatives to assist with decision making, and to determine the degree of achievement or value of completed initiatives. The primary purpose of evaluation is to provide insight into past initiatives and enable reflection to identify future improvements. Evaluation structures the interpretation and assessment of predicted or actual impacts and looks at original objectives and what was achieved or accomplished and how.
