However, many of the worlds irrigation systems are found in arid, semi arid environments, which
climate change will alter significantly in the future (J. D, Connor, Schwabe, K. King, D. Knapp, K.
2011). Nearly one third of the worlds Nearly one third of the irrigated land worldwide are affected by
salinization (Schwabe et al., 2011e). Saline environments tend to hinder agricultural production by
lowering crop yields, often quite substantially. The traditional response to the threat of salinity induced
crop yield reductions is to apply water in excess of plant requirements so as to leach the salts out of
the root zone. (Letey and Dinar, 1986). This approach becomes particularly problematic in the case of
climate change as reduced water supplies likely in arid and semiarid regions where salinity is an issue
work against such a response. Within the Murray Darling Basin a Panel on Integrated Salinity
Management and Farm Forestry was established in order to combat the effects of dry land salinity.
Working in cohesion with landowners the management team in 2004, launched the Indigo Valley

What do you consider to be the key findings of the research survey? Comment on what Buckingham
learned about a prospective customer profile, pricing and single ticket versus season ticket packages.
Several of the key findings from the research survey can be summarized into the following points;
In regards to a customer profile those aged between 26 35 years old with children, an income between
$22,500 to $75,000 would attend under 5 or 2 games per year. They would not necessarily be a
baseball fan but are looking for family entertainment. This gives an understanding to motives behind
why this market is attending and how to create a market strategy to their ideals.
Another key finding from the research survey is that of the customer ... Show more content on

Furthermore the relationship between concession spending and the amount of people willing to spend
money on concession goods is the amount that concession prices rise less people willing to purchase
them. As 45% of people are willing to spend between $6 $10 on concessions, estimating that to $8
being spent, concessions should be priced range between $6 $10.Concession and ticket prices provide
variables to calculate optimal pricing mix for a single ticket, the same can be used on all the packages.
The results are;
Single Ticket $10 and individuals buying $8 worth of concession
5 Game Ticket Package $8 and individuals buying $8 worth of concession
Half Season Ticket Package $6 and individuals buying $8 worth of concession
Full Season Ticket Package $4 and individuals buying $8 worth of concession
Using the pricing plan you have designed, will the team reach break even in the first year? If not, what
options does Buckingham have to reach his target?
Due to the high costs the goal of breaking even is a large task. At current product prices a profit of
$53,676 can be expected. This is total by 21,582 who will at least attend one game. Next we can
assume that amongst that population of 21582 54% would be interested in going to one game, 28%
interested in at least 5, 13% would be interested in half season and 5% in full. Of the 54% who will
attend one game 80% would pay $10.

Ethical Justification For Providing Life Saving Medicines
The ethical justification for providing life saving medicines to poor developing nations in need of
them is easily justifiable. However, distributing these drugs throughout the world at cost effective
prices, while still making profit is the ethical dilemmas that pharmaceutical companies face. Many
countries urge pharmaceutical companies to set priorities for the common good of the people, instead
of just the citizens who can gain access or afford expensive treatments. The companies also have a
duty to the shareholders of the company, especially in recouping the money that has been spent on the
research. If a company does patent its HIV/AIDS drug then they protect it from being common
knowledge and avoid losing an edge over other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pharmaceutical companies spend millions to billions of dollars designing, developing and protecting
their properties. They deserve to reap the benefits of their work, but at what cost? Certain
circumstances should circumvent the patents protecting these life altering drugs. There are millions of
opinions on the subject, seen by the shear girth of the literature on the subject, but it is imperative that
lives do not continue to be measured in dollar signs. The balance must be designed as to protect all
parties in difficult situations like the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The battle is not always the disease versus
humans, but sometimes humans versus humans.
The answers to the questions above are much easier said than done. The majority of the people with
HIV/AIDS live in sub Saharan Africa (Figure 1) (13). As of 2013, 39 million people have died since
this disease was brought to light in the early 1980s (13). Even though this disease has been at the
forefront of research for decades, scientific advances in the field have been slow to come about. There
is no cure for the disease; however new antiretroviral treatments have allowed the virus replication to
be controlled at a more manageable level (8). There have been concentrated global efforts to spread
these drugs through the crisis areas of the disease, but efforts have not always been successful.
Unfortunately, HIV/AIDS has crippled the

Napoleon s Greed and Ambition Essay
Napoleon Bonaparte was historically not only the powerful invader but also the ambitious king.
Napoleon made various works that effected France and the other country significantly, conquering
almost of countries in Europe. Almost people in France praised Napoleon when he won in any war or
any invasion. From successful occupation, people started to consider Napoleon as a god of the war
and large numbers of people followed his order. Napoleon seems as the greatest emperor in the world.

At first, he was not concerned on the national problems because he was too tired and needed
relaxation with his family. However, later, he found that France was becoming ruined and decided to
make the coup against parliament. Lucien Bonaparte, a younger brother of Napoleon Bonaparte, made
Napoleon the offer to become one of three governing consuls, but Napoleon rejected. He wanted to
take the throne of France. Napoleon had his own greed that wanted to be popular and did not prefer
people to forget his victories by uncompleted invasion, Although he had been given a hero s welcome
by the populace he knew that this type of fame was fleeting, and he also recognized that recent French
military victories in Holland and Switzerland had somewhat tarnished his own unfinished effort in
Egypt. When he made the coup against parliament, Napoleon mentioned the true liberty and the
republic. He then transported his spirited oratory to the beautiful gardens and the waiting troops with
whose aid the republic would be established. Napoleon called his troops for coup, saying that the real
republic finally established. However, people did not consider this action as the republic. One deputy

The Book Shane, By Jack Gow
Honorable and Courageous Manhood
The theme in the book Shane, by Jack Schaefer, portrays that true manhood consists not of bravado or
status, but of character, honor, and loyalty. The main character is a man named Shane, who rides into a
small valley mysteriously at the beginning of the book and takes a position as the aid of a farmer, Joe
Starett. When Shane arrives, Joe and the other farmers of the valley are struggling, while the rancher
Fletcher is the highest valley authority. The townspeople and Bob, Joe s son, struggle to discover what
make a man honorable and manly. They hold Fletcher and his cowboys as authorities, manly men in a
culture that admires this, because of the glamour of their profession. Fletcher s confidence and
bravado, as well as his profession and position, appear to the townspeople to be the epitome of
manhood. Bob falls into this easy way of thinking as well; he says that before Shane came into his life
his highest aspiration was to become like his father, but his ambition was to first be a cowboy. Bob
visualizes himself riding through the country: rough, strong, free, and well liked. After Shane arrives,
Bob starts thinking about true manhood, comparing his father, Shane, Fletcher, and the cowboys. He
realizes that manhood is not being like Fletcher, with shows of bravado designed to insult others, but
instead is standing up for your family and principles when necessary. Bob also learns that manhood
has to do a great deal with character, finding

Satan s Characters Of Adam And Eve
Satan was a powerful angel who, after being thrown into hell, used his powers to deceive God s newly
created beings, Adam and Eve. These characters are perceived as innocent and vulnerable creatures,
who could be easily influenced. What better way to get revenge on God than to tempt His most prized
possessions? Satan uses his power of deceiving rhetoric to mislead his followers. He then deceives
Eve with the same kind of rhetoric. Satan s tone changes between the speech to the council and the
speech to Eve. We are introduced to Satan as a heroic figure. As the poem goes on his character loses
his greatness and falls to that of a creature. Satan lusts after of God s powers and wants to possess
them himself. But I should ill become this throne, O Peers, An this imperial sov reignty, adorned with
splendor, armed with power, if aught proposed, and judged of public moment (II. 445). He admires
God s excellence and is willing to stop at nothing to obtain this level of greatness. In addition of Satan
being so great and heroic, Milton gives the readers a sense that Satan is constantly suffering. Satan
explains that the more pleasures he sees, the more torment he feels. He doesn t want to live on earth or
in heaven, though he wants to make others experience the same pain that ails him. He explains, only in
destroying I find ease to my restless thoughts, (IX.129) stressing that with his intensity of ambition he
ll stop at nothing for revenge. Milton shows the greatness of Satan but

Deconstructing of Forest and Woodland
Introduction
The definitions for the words forest and woodland are heterogeneous around the world and are
circumscribed to each country´s structural stands in local eco regions.
Countries as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Japan, Mexico or US, with a great
diversity of climates and soil conditions attributable to their large land extensions and altitude
gradients (Borja Jimenez et al. 2013), can be identified as territories with high variety of forests and
woodlands.
The great diversity and diffuse thresholds among ecosystems difficult construction of criteria for their
classification into inventories and application of management and conservation policies.
Box Fujiwara (2013) differentiate forests from woodlands: forest is an ecosystem dominated by tall
trees, in a closed structure (considered closed when tree crowns are touching) and woodland is an
ecosystem dominated by tall or short trees with an open distribution.
The etymology of both words has different meanings according to the language. In Chinese, 森林
(sēnlín), the first character, sēn (also mori in Japanese) means tree , forest , dark , gloomy ; the second
character, lín, means forest , grove , thicket , wood . Differently, 林地 (líndì) means wood (first
character) land (second character). It also means holt that means little forest . The word bosque in
Spanish derives from the German word busch meaning bush , shrub , jungle . Different from English,
in Spanish the terms

Argumentative Essay On Health And Social Care
In a world of unequal capabilities, there is the need to be each other s keeper by helping lift up the less
fortunate. There are countries around the world where some children have neither a decent place to
sleep nor call a home, and some families must go hungry for days because they can not afford a meal.
Unfortunately, this is true for some citizens of this great United States of America. In the absence of a
social safety net to help catch those members of the society who find themselves trapped in very hard
circumstances, our streets may fill up with more homeless citizens, and we may see death from
starvation. A social welfare system capable of providing the resources needed to lift the less fortunate

Graffiti is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or

paintings, and it has existed since ancient times, with examples going back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient
Greece, and the Roman Empire. Graffiti is a worldwide situation that has a never ending debate to it,
is it art or vandalism? To be honest I think graffiti is a form of art because it is a way to express
peoples feelings, it can give out good messages for everyone to see, and in my opinion these kids are

There are kids out there living on the streets that just want to express what they are feeling, they love
it and want to share it but the only place they feel like doing that is on the streets, for everyone to see
and where they grew up. d my opinion there s kids out there who have talent better than some artists
for that matter and are these kids are not being recognized for it because people have this vision in
their heads that graffiti is a crime. Instead of being recognised and paid for their work they are getting
arrested. Although In my opinion i believe graffiti is a form of art, it is attractive to the eye and it has a
meaning to it. Graffiti is a form of self expression and, I think that self expression is a form of art.
Some artists paint on canvas while others paint on buildings, either way it is still someone s creativity
at work. There is much worse going on in the world that people should be worrying about more than
graffiti, but yes, technically it is vandalism, but it doesn t harm anyone in any way.
The main con about graffiti is that it can open the door to other crimes such as burglary and assault .
Another negative point about graffiti is that it is often used for gangs to mark their territory. When
another gang or random person covers up the old graffiti with their own, it can start tention between
each other, which would obviously turn

The Market Theory, Meaning, And Market
DFA has had a very consistent strategy since its inception in 1987. They use academic research as the
backbone of their decisions. At the heart of their strategy is the efficient market theory, meaning that
in liquid markets, prices reflect all available information. This is contrary to most mutual funds that
attempt to continually beat the market. Instead DFA looks to academic research to invest in asset
classes that historically produced higher expected returns and structure their holdings around those
classes. This enables them to stay passive but add alpha over index funds. Other sources of alpha are
contributed by block trading and buying in bulk at a discounted price, and finally by constructing
products for niche tax advantages. Ultimately DFA is not looking to profit by exposing arbitrage in the
market but instead building strategies under the assumption of fair pricing allowing them to focus their
attention on investments that compensate investors for taking. Under these assumptions, the market
risks come at a premium which may allow for higher expected returns. They put a strong weight on
academic research and results from practicing investors that show robust long term strategies. The
research behind their beliefs show that small companies have higher expected returns than large
companies, high B/M value companies have higher expected returns than low B/M growth companies,
and finally companies with high profitability have higher expected returns than

Economic Contribution of Migrant Workers in Bangladesh
Introduction Bangladesh is located in South Asia. It is the seventh most populous country in the world
and is mostly densely inhabited. The poverty level, however, has fallen by more than 20%, helped by
its prominent agricultural sector. The Bangladeshi economy is helped by its big garment sector, which

attention to in developing strategies to measure the objectives of learning and growth perspective:
human factor, Information factors, and organizational factors.
Competitive corporate environment it is important that companies pay attention to their employees
abilities to perform their duties. What is actually important is for companies to continuously study not
only how they can perform well for the customers but they also have to address the issue on how they
can maintain a highly effective staff. To achieve this they should have strategies in place to measure
their employees skills, knowledge, and attitude. This will assist in better planning strategies needed to
have an effective retention program in place to measure the learning and growth perspective.
In this age where technology plays an important role in how corporations are run, it is important for

Ester Reaction
The first step in preparing the ester involved placing 10mL of an alcohol, 1 butanol, and 10mL of an
carboxylic acid, ethanoic acid, in a 50mL pear shaped flask in the staff fume hood. An alcohol and
carboxylic acid was added together as they undergo an oxidation reaction together that produces an
ester as a result, in this case, 1 butyl ethanoate. After this, the teacher added 1mL of concentrated
sulphuric acid (H2SO4) into the pear shaped flask to be used as a catalyst to increase the rate of
reaction between the two reactions, 1 butanol and ethanoic acid. The sulphuric acid acts as a catalyst
by lowering the activation energy of the reactants, and therefore, providing an alternative path with a
lower energy for the reactants to react, ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A distillation apparatus was then set up. This distillation apparatus was used to help separate the ester,
to hopefully obtain a pure ester as a distillate. The ester was distilled by heating the pear shaped with a
Bunsen burner. However, before beginning the boiling of the ester, a mercury thermometer was placed
in the fractioning column. The bulb of the thermometer was levelled with the intake to the condenser
so that it was ensured that the temperature recorded was that of the ester vapour that was condensed in
the condenser and not the fractioning column. This was important as the temperature of the vapour
that was being condensed in the condenser represented the boiling point of the ester, which had to be
recorded to obtain a distillation range. Using a 10mL measuring cylinder, the volume of the collected
ester distillate was measured and recorded to determine the yield. The clarity, appearance, and odour
of the ester were then noted to help determine how pure the ester distillate

Black Footed Penguins Lab Report
Exploring Braying in the African Black Footed Penguin
The African black footed, Galapagos, Humboldt, and Magellanic penguins are all members of the
Spheniscus family. Sharing common ancestry, these penguins share very similar morphological traits
as well as behavioral traits. In order to try to determine what makes each of these species different,
scientist in the field have turned to studying vocal repertoires of each penguin that is a part of the
Spheniscus family. It has been concluded that although the Spheniscus demersus, commonly named
the African black footed penguin, has similarly behaving relatives in the Spheniscus family, it is only
the black footed penguin that not only uses the braying vocalization for breeding, but during ... Show

Different types of calls are made possible by an organ in the penguin s throat called the syrinx. Each
species syrinx differs slightly allowing different calls to be made. A study was conducted by Nina
Thumser and Millicent Ficken that proved each species calls differ in the number of syllables, length,
and frequency. This is why a recommended method used to classify the behavior of penguins is to
understand and identify vocalizations. The African penguin had the greatest maximum frequency of
the longest syllable when comparing it to the braying in Humboldt and Magellanic penguins. In
addition, during mating seasons both sexes of African penguins will contribute their own bray call,
however, in species such as the Spheniscus mendiculus commonly known as the Galapagos penguin, it
s mainly the males who bray when breeding. The African penguin also brays more frequently because
they are more likely to display aggression via braying. because in a study, also done by Nina Thumser
and Millicent Ficken, it was discovered that African Penguins are more aggressive towards each other
than other Spheniscus penguins were towards other members.
The African black footed penguin is unique, as in comparison to its Spheniscus family relatives due to
its extensive use of the braying call. These uses developed as a result of behaviors and the lifestyle
seen in the African penguin that are not as clearly seen in its Galapagos, Magellanic, and Humboldt
relatives. The harsh, loud, sharp, and intense sound of the bray has developed to benefit the penguin.
Without it the species would not be successful in reproduction, establishing territory, or locating other

The Importance Of Reading Young Adult Literature
Currently, there is a debate about whether or not adults should be reading young adult (YA) literature.
Some on the side for adults reading young adult literature highlight the benefits of adults reading YA
literature; specifically reading it in order to relate to feelings they had as a young adult. This ability to
relate to YA literature in a personal manner could be very useful to teachers who work with young
adults. Teachers can use their findings from the YA novels to further empathize with their students,
learn how to integrate these YA novels into their curriculum to make it easier for students to
understand, and learn to understand and help students coping with some sort of emotional trauma that
may affect their learning. In the classroom, it is highly important that a teacher be able to empathize
with and relate to their students. A teacher with a good understanding of the thought processes and
emotions of their students often have an easier time relaying information to them (Sylwester 1994).
One way that teachers could learn to relate and empathize with their students is by reading YA novels.
YA novels are written to be understood and related to by young adults, but anyone who has lived
through adolescence should be able to find a YA novel they can relate their life to. The ability for
teachers to read these books and relate to them can in turn help them reconnect with the thought
processes they had in their formative years. Being able to remember and relate

Research Paper On Traffic Engineering
Traffic engineering is that phase of engineering that deals with the planning, geometric design and
traffic operations of roads, streets and highways and their networks, terminals, abutting lands and
relationships with other modes of transportation for the achievement of safe, efficient and convenient
movement of people and goods.
Traffic flow, road geometry, sidewalks, crosswalks, cycle facilities, shared lane markings, traffic signs,
traffic lights, and more. All of these elements must be considered when designing public and private
sector transportation solutions.
Traffic engineering applies engineering principles that help solve transportation problems by
considering the psychology and habits of the transportation system users. Many people still wonder
why a traffic problem is so difficult that an engineer should be called upon for a solution. Why not just
install a traffic signal, or raise/lower the speed limit, or erect more signs?
One of the greatest obstacles a professional traffic engineer faces in applying sound principles of
traffic engineering is competing theories from vocal non traffic engineers who lack expertise. The
unfortunate result is the creation of traffic hazards when false theories are put into effect. ... Show

Both Chris
and Jan make a huge impact on Alice s life.
Alice was a non drug user and detested those who were into drugs. She was an
innocent young girl who was surrounded by a healthy environment . Once she begins
hanging around the cool crowd, her positive attitude begins to fall. She is no longer,
that girl who obeyed her parents and didn t keep anything behind their backs. The cause of
her change was caused by the atmosphere in which she revolved in. At one of Jan s
parties, Alice gets handed a glass of LSD mixed with Coke. Alice got drugged that night
and once she found out the cause of her being so happy that evening, she thought LSD
was the most amazing thing in the world. Alice became addicted to drugs and was rapidly
introduced to many others types. Alice dramatically changes from a pure child, in the
beginning of the book, into a rebel teenager who has let herself be influenced by friends.
Alice s drug addiction drives her along with her family insane. She has to fight a
truly hard battle in order for her to start a normal life again. Alice tries very hard, but the
kids at school only seem to bring her deeper into the hopeless hole. She has her family
supporting her, but the other kids encourage her to continue the drug life and
only lead her to disaster. Every time she tried to get out of her addiction, she was drawn

Communication Is The Foundation Of Any Successful...
Communication is the foundation of any successful relationship. Partners that communicate their
thoughts and feelings, along with their likes and dislikes, are more likely to regard their relationships
as happy and content. Nevertheless, not every relationship can be this way, and some are even plagued
with an extramarital affair, either enacted by one or both partners in the relationship. Studies show that
30 60% of American men and 20 50% of American women will have sex with someone other than
their spouse while they are married (Vangelisti Gerstenberger, 2004). This is a rather high statistic, and
even though affairs are becoming more common in society today, they are still a painful experience
for all involved. In articles by Afifi, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Positive face is regarded, as the needs for ones desire to be liked, while negative face characterizes
individuals need to be free from any sort of imposition or restraint. When an individual finds out that
their spouse has had an affair, there becomes an imminent threat to one s face. This is due to the fact
that people may place an importance on maintaining a positive impression for those around them.
When this is threatened by an affair, one must repair damaged face (labeled facework), including
apologies, excuses, and justifications (Afifi et al., 2001). The transgressor of the affair, to help repair
the damage, must do this facework not only to restore their partner s positive and negative face, but
also to try and mend any sort of indiscretions that emerged from said affair. The researchers of this
article mentioned that in their research they found that there are four general methods in which one
can discover a partner s affair. They are unsolicited third party discovery, red handed , solicited
discovery, and unsolicited partner discovery (Afifi et al., 2001). In unsolicited third party discovery,
another person outside the relationship tells the primary partner about the infidelity. Red handed
occurs when the primary partner accidentally walks in on an act of adultery. Solicited discovery
occurs when the primary partner discovers the infidelity and confronts the transgressor

structure that provides the longest duration of impact between the falling egg the ground will provide

building symmetrically. Another noticeable flaw was the reckless flight patterns of designs

Snowpiercer Themes
Snowpiercer is a cinematic adaptation of the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige written by
Jacques Lob and Jean Marc Rochette and published in 1982. However, when given artistic freedom to
adjust the plot, characters, and overall theme of the original graphic novel, director Bong Joon ho
chose to interpret the film version with a completely new story and new characters in order to create a
new, dynamic Snowpiercer that was packed with cinematic exhilaration (Goldberg 3). His adaptation
of Le Transperceneige includes unique, thought provoking themes about class structure that did not
exist in the original graphic novel. Bong Joon ho s choice to alter the plot so drastically must be
examined in order to understand the overall meaning of the film. In the historical background of

that Snowpiercer is an allegory of class culture. The controversial nature of Snowpiercer prompts

Deontological Libertarianism
I. Topic: Libertarianism
II. Definition: Libertarianism is a political philosophy that affirms the rights of individuals to liberty
(Vallentyne van der Vossen, 2014). The basic idea is the individual is in the best position to know what
is best for him or her and should be allowed to make choices without undue outside interference. Each
person has to decide what is in his or her best interest, and the government should not interfere with
personal decisions, especially when it comes to redistribution of wealth and rights (Gibson, 2014, p.
113).
a. Description: Libertarianism is a belief sometimes termed pure justice. It is a system providing open
opportunities to all assuming that any resulting distribution will necessarily be fair (Gibson, 2014, p.
113).

Deontological libertarianism is rights based from Robert Nozick who stated, liberty upsets patterns .
This was due to the state justifying formulaic distributions based on some predetermined principle
(Gibson, 2014, p. 113).
IV. Application: Ethical Decision Making and Conflicts of Responsibility
a. Evidence: Subjective and Objective Responsibilities as a Public Administrator
i. Objective responsibility involves two dimensions: accountability and imposed obligation. It involves
responsibility to someone or come collective body and responsibility for certain tasks, subordinate
personnel, and goal achievement (Cooper, 2012, p. 73) ii. Subjective responsibility is within the
libertarian belief of an expression of our beliefs, personal and professional values, and character traits

b. Relevance to Conflicts of Responsibility in authority, role and interest The fiduciary character of
public service involves responsibility to act on behalf of the citizenry (Cooper, 2012, p. 94)

Hansen s Disease
Hansen s Disease and its Effects on the Homeostasis of Organ Systems
Hansen s disease, more commonly known as leprosy, is a chronic infectious disease that affects the
skin and peripheral nerves, and to a lesser extent, the respiratory and muscular systems of the body
(niaid/nih.giov/diseases conditions/leprosy hansens disease). It is caused by an infection by the
bacillus Mycobacterium leprae. It was discovered by Dr. Gerhard H.A. Hansen of Norway in 1873.

The muscular system, in conjunction with the skeletal system, is responsible for movement of the
body among other things (VanPutte, 270). The ability of the human body to move has been critical in
the survival of the species over the years for example; escaping from predators is only possible with
skeletal muscle contraction. Hansen s disease generally only affects the peripheral nerves of the
extremities, not the locations of the larger muscle groups; however the smaller muscles of the hands
and feet are vital for the well being of individuals. For example, it would be quite difficult to feed
oneself without the use of hands. Unfortunately, extreme cases of Hansen s disease cause paralysis of
the individual s hands and feet. Paralysis occurs due to deadening of the peripheral nerves, both
sensory and motor. As the afferent neurons lose the ability to receive and send stimuli, the nerve
impulses (action potentials) are sent to the central nervous system less and less often. Even so, the
action potentials that are transmitted to the CNS still are unlikely to stimulate the skeletal muscles for
contraction. This is because the efferent peripheral neurons of the hands and feet are damaged as well.
In effect, the sensory nerves of the extremities cannot receive much stimuli, and the motor neurons are
also less able to start the action potentials in the skeletal muscle

Analyzing A Wide Range Of Environmental Data
PMF is a mathematical receptor model that is used to analyze a wide range of environmental data. The
model has been widely used in air, water, and lake and ocean sediments research to determine the
sources of pollutants. This model reduces the large number of variables in intricate analytical data sets
to just a few combinations known as source types and contributions while providing very robust
uncertainty estimates and data diagnostics.
The identification of the source types is achieved by matching the different sources with the measured
profiles of individual sample chemical constituents. The source contributions are basically used to
determine how much each source/factor contributed to the pollutants in the analyzed sample(s). The

The model limits the factor loadings and scores to only the non negative values, which significantly
minimizes the uncertainty that may be caused by any rotating factors. The mass balance equation for
the PMF model accounting for all the m chemical species in n samples as contributions from p
independent sources can be written as shown in Eq. (3.8);
X_ij= ∑_(k=1)^p▒g_ik f_kj+ e_ij Eq.(3.8) where, Xij = the elemental concentration for the jth species
on the ith day, gik = the contribution of kth factor to the receptor model on the ith day, fkj = the
proportion of the kth factor that is species j, and eij = the residual for the jth species on the ith day.
While using the PMF model, there exists a set of fundamental, natural physical constraints or checks
that have to be obeyed. These include: The model must reproduce the original data. i.e., the model
must explain all the observations in the input data set. The expected/ predicted source compositions
must all have non negative values. Any given source cannot have a negative proportion of an element

any other environmental pollutants of interest must all be non negative. Any given source cannot emit

Furthermore, concerning some unforeseen or unexpected mistakes those need attention. Followings

Castles were built as symbols of security, wealth, power and control. But, castles weren t only for
defense against the foreign invaders; they were also served as a basic tool in preserving the king s and

Concentric castles were built in the 12th and 13th century. They were surrounded by two sets of walls
that were built at different height levels. The inner wall provided the archers a vantage point. The
symmetrical shape of the castle helped provide a superior view for the lookout men across the
neighboring country. Death hole was the name given to the space between the two walls. If
invaders/attackers broke in, they would be trapped and killed between the two walls. For additional
protection, these castles were often surrounded by a moat where as a drawbridge was used for entering
inside the castle. The Beaumaris Castle can be found in Wales. King Edward I first assigned most of
the concentric castles. Concentric castles soon became redundant, as they were very expensive to
build and required a lot of man power as well as labor resources. Siege warfare was mainly applied
when trying to take over the concentric castles. The castles would be destroyed due to the
bombardment from the ballista, the mangonel and the trebuchet. Also the wide spread use of

has published advertisements implying that girls can use their sexuality to free themselves from
parental constraints (Moog 156).
Versace is yet another example of how sexuality and sexual orientated ads are used to sell their
products. In a recent advertisement for Versace Blue Jeans cologne, a nude male is seen in a waterfall
type scene. Oddly, this advertisement is selling cologne, but the focus is on the portrayal of the nude
male body in the advertisement, not the cologne fragrance. Numerous ads show one thing, but mean
something entirely different. Another example of this is from a Seagram s ad where an attractive
woman is seen dancing with a man. The ad says, Seagram s 7 gets things stirring. The couple isn t
really laughing and carrying on, as seen in the ad itself; they just look like pictures of store
mannequins instead of real people (Moog 60). The Seagram s ad communicates the message that by
drinking this particular alcohol, attractive people will be drawn to you, which will result in that person

Most advertisers feel that by using sexually orientated or seductive ads, the product will be sold much
quicker. When consumers see these portrayals of men and women along the street, staring down at
them from billboards, or on the television screen, consumers desire to be like the individual in the ads,
because this will bring happiness into one s life, success, sex, and much more by sporting a particular

Adherence Of Chronic Disease Article Essay
INTRODUCTION I decided to write about the Adherence to Chronic Disease article because people
do not see how important is to follow the doctors orders. When somebody is in pain he or she
immediately goes to the hospital expecting to get better and feel nothing the next day. Some do not
even go until the pain is unbearable. People need to realize that our bodies do not work that way. The
damage that we had caused cannot be repaired in a couple of hours, but it takes months even years to
treat some illness. And to get positive results people have to follow the treatment. Adherence is
extremely important, especially for the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease.
In the article, it mentions the results of non adherence like the growth of hospitalizations, deaths and it
also mentions the increasing costs of care. To avoid those results, there are some known adherence
barriers like counting the number of medications given per fill or the number of visits to the pharmacy
monthly but these are mostly being used by individual health care delivery organizations or managed
care plans. But the implementation of achievable mechanisms of control to evaluate and monitor are
needed. The New York State (NYS) Department of Health, the New York City (NYC) Health
Department created a method to evaluate adherence among NYC Medicaid participants and to manage
future interventions.

Trafficking And Organized Crime During Latin America
In the last decades, narco trafficking and organized crime had emerged as the main security threats in
Latin America. Deviant globalization increase their power by establishing connections with similar
organizations in other parts of the world, like cocaine distribution networks, for example. This
perceived danger increases the pressure on the governments for effective solutions, and some of them
consider that these problems had overwhelmed the capabilities of the local police. Consequently, the
intervention of military forces would be necessary to secure the stability of the countries. However,
the use of force as the only solution is the outcome of a misunderstanding of the root causes that
generates them. This paper presents the research for a general pattern in the region that is helpful to
understand how the civil society perceives the failures of governance and how the networks of illegal
activities exploit this perception.
What is the relation between weak national governance and security threats in Latin America?
This research establish weak governance as an enabler for the emergence of security threats in Latin

  • 4. Ethical Justification For Providing Life Saving Medicines The ethical justification for providing life saving medicines to poor developing nations in need of them is easily justifiable. Pharmaceutical companies spend millions to billions of dollars designing, developing and protecting their properties. They deserve to reap the benefits of their work, but at what cost? Certain circumstances should circumvent the patents protecting these life altering drugs. There are millions of opinions on the subject, seen by the shear girth of the literature on the subject, but it is imperative that lives do not continue to be measured in dollar signs. The balance must be designed as to protect all parties in difficult situations like the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The battle is not always the disease versus humans, but sometimes humans versus humans. The answers to the questions above are much easier said than done. The majority of the people with HIV/AIDS live in sub Saharan Africa (Figure 1) (13). As of 2013, 39 million people have died since this disease was brought to light in the early 1980s (13). Even though this disease has been at the forefront of research for decades, scientific advances in the field have been slow to come about. There is no cure for the disease; however new antiretroviral treatments have allowed the virus replication to be controlled at a more manageable level (8). There have been concentrated global efforts to spread these drugs through the crisis areas of the disease, but efforts have not always been successful. Unfortunately, HIV/AIDS has crippled the ... Lucien Bonaparte, a younger brother of Napoleon Bonaparte, made Napoleon the offer to become one of three governing consuls, but Napoleon rejected. He wanted to take the throne of France. Napoleon had his own greed that wanted to be popular and did not prefer people to forget his victories by uncompleted invasion, Although he had been given a hero s welcome by the populace he knew that this type of fame was fleeting, and he also recognized that recent French military victories in Holland and Switzerland had somewhat tarnished his own unfinished effort in Egypt. • 6. The Book Shane, By Jack Gow Honorable and Courageous Manhood The theme in the book Shane, by Jack Schaefer, portrays that true manhood consists not of bravado or status, but of character, honor, and loyalty. The main character is a man named Shane, who rides into a small valley mysteriously at the beginning of the book and takes a position as the aid of a farmer, Joe Starett. When Shane arrives, Joe and the other farmers of the valley are struggling, while the rancher Fletcher is the highest valley authority. The townspeople and Bob, Joe s son, struggle to discover what make a man honorable and manly. They hold Fletcher and his cowboys as authorities, manly men in a culture that admires this, because of the glamour of their profession. Fletcher s confidence and bravado, as well as his profession and position, appear to the townspeople to be the epitome of manhood. Bob falls into this easy way of thinking as well; he says that before Shane came into his life his highest aspiration was to become like his father, but his ambition was to first be a cowboy. Bob visualizes himself riding through the country: rough, strong, free, and well liked. After Shane arrives, Bob starts thinking about true manhood, comparing his father, Shane, Fletcher, and the cowboys. • 8. Deconstructing of Forest and Woodland Introduction The definitions for the words forest and woodland are heterogeneous around the world and are circumscribed to each country´s structural stands in local eco regions. Countries as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Japan, Mexico or US, with a great diversity of climates and soil conditions attributable to their large land extensions and altitude gradients (Borja Jimenez et al. 2013), can be identified as territories with high variety of forests and woodlands. The great diversity and diffuse thresholds among ecosystems difficult construction of criteria for their classification into inventories and application of management and conservation policies. Box Fujiwara (2013) differentiate forests from woodlands: forest is an ecosystem dominated by tall trees, in a closed structure (considered closed when tree crowns are touching) and woodland is an ecosystem dominated by tall or short trees with an open distribution. • 11. The Market Theory, Meaning, And Market DFA has had a very consistent strategy since its inception in 1987. They use academic research as the backbone of their decisions. At the heart of their strategy is the efficient market theory, meaning that in liquid markets, prices reflect all available information. This is contrary to most mutual funds that attempt to continually beat the market. Instead DFA looks to academic research to invest in asset classes that historically produced higher expected returns and structure their holdings around those classes. This enables them to stay passive but add alpha over index funds. Other sources of alpha are contributed by block trading and buying in bulk at a discounted price, and finally by constructing products for niche tax advantages. Ultimately DFA is not looking to profit by exposing arbitrage in the market but instead building strategies under the assumption of fair pricing allowing them to focus their attention on investments that compensate investors for taking. Under these assumptions, the market risks come at a premium which may allow for higher expected returns. They put a strong weight on academic research and results from practicing investors that show robust long term strategies. The research behind their beliefs show that small companies have higher expected returns than large companies, high B/M value companies have higher expected returns than low B/M growth companies, and finally companies with high profitability have higher expected returns than ... After this, the teacher added 1mL of concentrated sulphuric acid (H2SO4) into the pear shaped flask to be used as a catalyst to increase the rate of reaction between the two reactions, 1 butanol and ethanoic acid. The bulb of the thermometer was levelled with the intake to the condenser so that it was ensured that the temperature recorded was that of the ester vapour that was condensed in the condenser and not the fractioning column. Each species syrinx differs slightly allowing different calls to be made. This is why a recommended method used to classify the behavior of penguins is to understand and identify vocalizations. The African penguin had the greatest maximum frequency of the longest syllable when comparing it to the braying in Humboldt and Magellanic penguins. In addition, during mating seasons both sexes of African penguins will contribute their own bray call, however, in species such as the Spheniscus mendiculus commonly known as the Galapagos penguin, it s mainly the males who bray when breeding. The African penguin also brays more frequently because they are more likely to display aggression via braying. because in a study, also done by Nina Thumser and Millicent Ficken, it was discovered that African Penguins are more aggressive towards each other than other Spheniscus penguins were towards other members. The African black footed penguin is unique, as in comparison to its Spheniscus family relatives due to its extensive use of the braying call. These uses developed as a result of behaviors and the lifestyle seen in the African penguin that are not as clearly seen in its Galapagos, Magellanic, and Humboldt relatives. Some on the side for adults reading young adult literature highlight the benefits of adults reading YA literature; specifically reading it in order to relate to feelings they had as a young adult. This ability to relate to YA literature in a personal manner could be very useful to teachers who work with young adults. Teachers can use their findings from the YA novels to further empathize with their students, learn how to integrate these YA novels into their curriculum to make it easier for students to understand, and learn to understand and help students coping with some sort of emotional trauma that may affect their learning. In the classroom, it is highly important that a teacher be able to empathize with and relate to their students. A teacher with a good understanding of the thought processes and emotions of their students often have an easier time relaying information to them (Sylwester 1994). One way that teachers could learn to relate and empathize with their students is by reading YA novels. YA novels are written to be understood and related to by young adults, but anyone who has lived through adolescence should be able to find a YA novel they can relate their life to. The structure that provides the longest duration of impact between the falling egg the ground will provide the desired results of an undamaged egg. • 27. Snowpiercer Themes Snowpiercer is a cinematic adaptation of the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige written by Jacques Lob and Jean Marc Rochette and published in 1982. However, when given artistic freedom to adjust the plot, characters, and overall theme of the original graphic novel, director Bong Joon ho chose to interpret the film version with a completely new story and new characters in order to create a new, dynamic Snowpiercer that was packed with cinematic exhilaration (Goldberg 3). His adaptation of Le Transperceneige includes unique, thought provoking themes about class structure that did not exist in the original graphic novel. The film allows the audience to follow the Curtis Revolution from beginning to the tragic end, exposing the flaws of a capitalist structured society through the misfortunes that arise along the way. Definition: Libertarianism is a political philosophy that affirms the rights of individuals to liberty (Vallentyne van der Vossen, 2014). The basic idea is the individual is in the best position to know what is best for him or her and should be allowed to make choices without undue outside interference. Each person has to decide what is in his or her best interest, and the government should not interfere with personal decisions, especially when it comes to redistribution of wealth and rights (Gibson, 2014, p. 113). a. It is caused by an infection by the bacillus Mycobacterium leprae. It was discovered by Dr. Gerhard H.A. Hansen of Norway in 1873. The muscular system, in conjunction with the skeletal system, is responsible for movement of the body among other things (VanPutte, 270). The ability of the human body to move has been critical in the survival of the species over the years for example; escaping from predators is only possible with skeletal muscle contraction. Hansen s disease generally only affects the peripheral nerves of the extremities, not the locations of the larger muscle groups; however the smaller muscles of the hands and feet are vital for the well being of individuals. For example, it would be quite difficult to feed oneself without the use of hands. Unfortunately, extreme cases of Hansen s disease cause paralysis of the individual s hands and feet. Paralysis occurs due to deadening of the peripheral nerves, both sensory and motor. As the afferent neurons lose the ability to receive and send stimuli, the nerve impulses (action potentials) are sent to the central nervous system less and less often. Even so, the action potentials that are transmitted to the CNS still are unlikely to stimulate the skeletal muscles for contraction. This is because the efferent peripheral neurons of the hands and feet are damaged as well. In effect, the sensory nerves of the extremities cannot receive much stimuli, and the motor neurons are also less able to start the action potentials in the skeletal muscle ... The model has been widely used in air, water, and lake and ocean sediments research to determine the sources of pollutants. This model reduces the large number of variables in intricate analytical data sets to just a few combinations known as source types and contributions while providing very robust uncertainty estimates and data diagnostics. The identification of the source types is achieved by matching the different sources with the measured profiles of individual sample chemical constituents. The source contributions are basically used to determine how much each source/factor contributed to the pollutants in the analyzed sample(s). The PMF ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, concerning some unforeseen or unexpected mistakes those need attention. Followings are some of the required precautions to avoid some common ethics: psychological, financial and social harm. Professional researchers always plan the research questions or the questionnaire to prevent any harassment (Waller, 2011). The preparation of ethics is one of the prerequisites items before engaging in questionnaires, interviews, or surveys whether it is online or paper. In this respect, the researcher s To Do List should include the importance of checking the prerequisites of these methods. To ensure that NO HARM is potential, the following are imperatives (Waller, 2011): i. The behavior is within the ethics acceptability provisional margin. ii. How research possibly affects any participant, whether during a survey, in depth interview, the questionnaire or any similar iii. Protect all members engaged in research such as the instructor, the assistants on the methods, if any, and the researcher himself or herself. On this point, the form of ethics is essential before embarking on research or study. Concentric castles were built in the 12th and 13th century. They were surrounded by two sets of walls that were built at different height levels. The inner wall provided the archers a vantage point. The symmetrical shape of the castle helped provide a superior view for the lookout men across the neighboring country. Death hole was the name given to the space between the two walls. If invaders/attackers broke in, they would be trapped and killed between the two walls. For additional protection, these castles were often surrounded by a moat where as a drawbridge was used for entering inside the castle. The Beaumaris Castle can be found in Wales. King Edward I first assigned most of the concentric castles. Concentric castles soon became redundant, as they were very expensive to build and required a lot of man power as well as labor resources. Versace is yet another example of how sexuality and sexual orientated ads are used to sell their products. In a recent advertisement for Versace Blue Jeans cologne, a nude male is seen in a waterfall type scene. Oddly, this advertisement is selling cologne, but the focus is on the portrayal of the nude male body in the advertisement, not the cologne fragrance. Numerous ads show one thing, but mean something entirely different. Another example of this is from a Seagram s ad where an attractive woman is seen dancing with a man. • 36. Adherence Of Chronic Disease Article Essay INTRODUCTION I decided to write about the Adherence to Chronic Disease article because people do not see how important is to follow the doctors orders. When somebody is in pain he or she immediately goes to the hospital expecting to get better and feel nothing the next day. Some do not even go until the pain is unbearable. People need to realize that our bodies do not work that way. The damage that we had caused cannot be repaired in a couple of hours, but it takes months even years to treat some illness. And to get positive results people have to follow the treatment. Adherence is extremely important, especially for the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease. In the article, it mentions the results of non adherence like the growth of hospitalizations, deaths and it also mentions the increasing costs of care. To avoid those results, there are some known adherence barriers like counting the number of medications given per fill or the number of visits to the pharmacy monthly but these are mostly being used by individual health care delivery organizations or managed care plans. But the implementation of achievable mechanisms of control to evaluate and monitor are needed. The Oregon Trail is a non fiction book written and narrated by Francis Parkman Jr., a historian who ventures out into the Wild West back in the 1840s and describes the many accounts and experiences he has during his journey on the path of the Oregon Trail. Parkman portrays the lifestyles of both Western travelers, either as prairie schooners or as groups of horsemen, and Native Americans, both friendly and hostile, within forts, fields, and frontiers. It must be noted that Parkman did not travel the full length of the Oregon Trail, but he presented a vivid picture of life traveling within the Oregon Trail, and had an enormous influence in shaping the image of the American Frontier. Parkman s purpose in writing this book was to inform, through his personal accounts, the lifestyles of Indians and his experiences traveling within the Oregon Trail.
