The Exhibition Experience Using Falk And Dierking s...
People gather halfway through the Andy Warhol exhibition, at The Portland Art Museum, in front of a
looping short film of Warhol eating a burger ending with I m Andy Warhol and I just finished eating a
burger (, n.d.). The exhibition, provided by the Jordan Schnitzer family, is the largest collection of
Warhol s work to ever be on display (Portland Art Museum, n.d.). I will be evaluating the Warhol
exhibition experience using Falk and Dierking s Interactive Experience Model (IEM). IEM entails
factors form both outside and inside the institution, contributing to the museum experience in three
different contexts, the sociocultural (social), physical, and personal. Unknowingly the visitor uses
these contexts to interact with the exhibition and museum, before, during and after the visit takes
place. Museum staff can use these contexts to evaluate the visitor experience determining the success
of the exhibition and revealing areas for improvement.
Researching a museum before the visit is an important factor in the visitor gaining useful knowledge
on the exhibition and experience ahead. Upon visiting the website I was able find large amounts of
information pertaining to the Warhol exhibition that would be beneficial for my visit. The website
provided concise information on the museum location, parking information in the area, cost of
admission, and should expected and gained from the exhibition. The large exhibition has been built to
display a timeline of Warhol s

Justifying Appeasement Essay example
Justifying Appeasement Appeasement was the foreign policy followed by the British and French
governments in the 1930s, whereby they did not attack or confront other governments, specifically
that of Germany s, when international laws were breached, but rather gave into some of the demands
to keep the peace. After the horror and dramatic loss of innocent lives (amassing over 3 million) in the
First World War, both the French and the British governments were keen to avoid any more blood
shed and their pacifist policies meant they started to take a very lenient attitude towards breached
international laws. They knew that the general public, for whom the memories of war were still rife,

The allies felt that if they gave in to Hitler s reasonable demands about the Treaty, he would be
satisfied and Germany would become a peaceful nation again. This notion seems to have little
grounding or thorough consideration on the part of the British and French, who s blind faith in Hitler
being satisfied with only these reforms was to have disastrous consequences. I do not feel that
Appeasement was justified by the government at the time, and certainly is not in retrospect,
considering the part it played in Hitler s rise to power. The spread of Communism and the new
dangers to world peace posed by Stalin (the new leader of the USSR) were prevalent threats to the
allies. Hitler s anti Communist policies were appealing to the British and French as a bulwark against
this threat so they did not want to be too harsh with him. Appeasement was justifiable as a way of
keeping Hitler on side in an attempt to use him as protection. The British and French governments
were also concerned with the economic problems they faced in their own countries, such as recession,
inflation, unemployment. They were using rearmament as a way to tackle the latter of these

We Have A Game Battle
Danny. Danny! My teacher yelled. I woke up confused while everybody is staring at me like hawks. I
explained that I was day dreaming but she wasn t listening, so I told myself Only 10 more minutes.
Beep! The class rose and bolted out the classroom door. The halls looked like a giant pack of buffalo
herding down the halls, when I was walking I saw my friends exit the main doors. My friends were
waiting for me out side. When I got outside they flocked up around me and were yelling Are you
going to play Call of Duty This weekend? You know we have a game battle right? I was shocked
about how fast they were talking but I said we have $600 to win. When I arrived at my house I could
feel the addiction kicking in; my Xbox was pulling me into my room, I sat down turned on my
controller and instantly focused. For a couple days, my group would practice for the tournament. I was
so focused that I felt like I could make something move with my mind. We made call outs left and
right left... left... left! Hospital...Hospital! But this was just practice for the real game. A little bit of
time passed and my friends were talking about if we won the game, but I told them not the jinx the
game. The game was just a day away. Me and my friends were getting ready for the game by more
practice but this time if they messed up they will have to do a something they re not going to like.
After we practiced my friends came over to my house so we could give each other advice and just

One Day Of The Life Of Ivan Denisovich By Aleksandr...
The novel, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, depicts how prisoners
endure and survive life in the gulag camp. Solzhenitsyn suggests that the prisoners ability of surviving
in the camp depends on how they view the work they are assigned. Within the camp a majority of the
prisoners time is spent dedicated to work assigned to them from the guards. Throughout the novel it is
suggested that those who have a good work ethic are more likely to survive than those who do not.
The ways in which they can survive include being hard working, focusing intently on the work and
taking on multiple job roles. This allows them to gain favours or an offering from fellow prisoners.
This is principally shown through the two contrasting characters, Ivan Denisovich and Fetiuokov.
Ivan Denisovich, also referred to as Shukhov, is described as extremely hard working and is always
occupied with jobs that may at first appear arbitrary. Although they appear to be arbitrary they are
actually carefully and selectively chosen according to what Shukhov will gain in return from
completing them. Ivan Denisovich is thought to be one of the best workers in the camp because of his
positive attitude towards work. Whilst working on a wall there was need of a bricklayer so Shukhov
thought he might as well be one because he believes that if you can do two things with your hands,
you ll soon pick up another ten. (Pg. 79). Through these quotes there is a sense of positivity to his

Logistics
11.1 Logistics
In both vertical and horizontal marketing systems, systematised information contributes to the
efficient flow of goods and services from the point of origin to the point of consumption. This process
of regulation begins with customer service and extends to the procurement, handling, and processing
of resources aimed at delivering customer satisfaction. All ways in which resources are procured,
handled, and processed fall within a set of activities known as logistics.
Logistics
is a process of systematising information to facilitate the efficient and cost effective flows of goods
and services to produce customer satisfaction. Each member in the supply chain must be involved in

Not Really, Just Cutting Edge Logistical Practice
Retailer and wholesaler sales reps having offices next to their supplier s factory floor? Wearing badges
allowing them to roam wherever they want, attend production status meetings, or log onto sales
forecasts? Independently record ing sales orders for which their customers are billed? Welcome to the
brave new world of logistics, where channel members treat their suppliers and distributors almost like
their employees.
The behaviours described above are due to JIT II, the new version of just in time inventory control.
While the original JIT tended to cultivate hostility by putting extreme pressure on suppliers, JIT II is
designed to create harmony and efficiencies on both sides of the channel. Based on the decision to
share previ ously guarded information such as up to the minute sales forecasts, JIT II must rely
heavily on trust since the companies involved could face serious conflicts of interest. In spite of the
advances, however, traditional manufacturer distributor mistrust and hard nosed negotiations over
price, quantity discounts, or shipping terms still linger. Customers and suppliers both worry about
releasing too much confidential data or technology. Manufacturers, in particular, expose themselves to
risk by revealing their costs. Such suppliers may suddenly find themselves at the mercy of customers
trying to squeeze their margins. But some success stories are already in

The Culture And Geography Of The Korean Culture
South Korea is a country with a multi faceted culture, ranging from K pop, Korean cuisine, beauty
products and Kdramas. Recently Korean culture, also referred to as the KWave, has been expanding
around the globe at an exponential rate. As someone who has been invested in the Korean culture for a
couple years now, some of my favorite things about it is being able to learn about the culture and
geography of South Korea through watching Kdramas and Korean movies. The movies I have chosen
for this assignment are: Train to Busan, A Werewolf Boy, A Stray Goat, Tazza: The Hidden Card, and
Silenced. In the movies I have chosen to review and compare we get to see a whole lot of the
geography of the country, starting from the northern part of South Korea, Seoul, all the way to the
southern region of Busan, and also exploring the countryside and other cities like Goseong, Gwangju.
In these movies we will see all kinds of geography from physical, economic, cultural, city, rural, and
so much more, and how each movie uses and portrays each geographical location to more deep themes
like safety, community, memories, and even acceptance. The way I ordered this movies was from my
least favorite to my most favorite
The film, A Stray Goat (2016), directed by Cho Jaemin, is about a boy named Minshik who moves to
a small town called Suyang Li, in Goseong. His father who is a priest tries to begin a new church.
Minshik then starts to school and meets a girl name Yejoo, who is constantly bullied

Descriptive Essay For Softball
Since I was a little girl my dream was to always play the highest level of softball as possible. I wanted
to be the best pitcher there ever was. The first position I ever learned to play was also the one that
almost ended my softball career. Starting out in little league the pitcher is required to wear a batting
helmet while playing the pitching position. This is for ages normally 5 and under, at this age the girls
are still using pitching machines or coach pitch. As the older the girls get the rules change, no face
mask or helmet has to be worn while pitching. As for me I hated wearing face mask, I always had an
excuse to not wear it. Who would ve thought that it would one day save my life.
My mom and I are both as stubborn as a mule. We both want to get our own ways, and most of the
time our ways are polar opposites from one another. So therefore one of us has to give and me being
the child 95% of the time it s me. When it came to softball most of the time are arguments were about
when and when not I should have to wear a face mask. My main two positions are first base and
pitcher. These two positions require fast reaction time as well does third base. This is because while
the pitcher is in her wind up the first and third basemen are creeping closer towards the batter to be
ready to field a bunt or a ground ball. This is not always the case though, sometimes when the batter is
squared up to bunt we crash towards the batter as fast as we can and countless of the times they

Conflicts In The Outsiders
There are many characters in the Outsiders book that found their identity in conflict. Bob is one of the
characters in the Outsiders that found his identity in conflict. He didn t have anything to find his
identity in and the result of that was finding his identity in conflict and being in a gang. Randy found
his identity in conflict and he also rose out of being a person who sought conflict in his everyday life.
In the book, Randy participated in beating up Johnny, and certainly in fights with other Greasers.
When Bob got stabbed by Johnny the night at the fountain in the park, Randy runs off leaving one of
his best friends. After Bob s death, Randy soon comes to realize and views everything differently.

You can t win, even if you whip us. You ll still be where you were before at the bottom. And we ll still

117). In that quote, you realize that after Bob died it was like Randy waked up for the first time and
saw what really mattered and saw Greasers and Socs just as ordinary people. Dally in the book found
his identity in conflict which then made it s way to him killing himself. Johnny and the gang impacted
Dally a great deal. The gang and being a Greaser was Dally s identity and he loved that about himself.
Johnny played an immense role in Dally s life. When Johnny died Dally s life fell apart because
Johnny was like a brother to Dally (quote that talks about Johnny being like a brother to Dally chapter

Once Johnny dies, it is too much for Dally to handle. He is completely shocked and burdened by it,
which ends up being the reason behind Dally killing himself. Dally doesn t know how to deal with

Performance Appraisal- Management Procedure
Performance appraisals are an essential element of the general performance management procedure. A
performance management structure involves having an appraisal technique or method, substantiated
by job types, colloquial and continuous feedback, leadership training, performance expectations,
punitive policies, as well as employee productivity and acknowledgement. In addition, both positive
and negative feedback are elements that are instrumental in the arena of performance management.
However, the paramount cause of performance appraisal efficiency as well as effectiveness is how
well each of these elements correlates with one another. Performance appraisal is the procedure
through which employee performance is evaluated, feedback is delivered, and development plans are
designed (Youssef, 2012). Therefore, strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) is vital to
successful organizational objectives. While the core objective of performance appraisals is the
evaluation of employees work performance, organizations utilize performance appraisals for a variety
of goals; these include managing salaries, wages, and pay incentives and adjustments. In addition
performance appraisals can be performed by management to establish job placement decisions, and to
validate employee punitive decisions (Youssef, 2012). Performance appraisal is made up of several
components. Youssef states... A holistic approach to performance appraisal means viewing
performance as a multidimensional system of

The Allure Of Luxury By Chuck Palahniuk
If Tyler Durden from Fight Club was sitting inside $340,000 Lamborghini Aventador, his hatred
towards materialism probably would have driven him to accelerate the car right into the ocean. If
James Twitchell was sitting inside of it, he probably would have just left the car in a parking structure
with the keys still inside. Chuck Palahniuk s novel Fight Club and James Twitchell s essay The Allure
of Luxury both take negative against the concept and phenomenon of Western materialism, where
society indulge on luxurious items to the extent of being the focus of life. In Fight Club, the idea of
anti materialism is taken to a great extent, with the book s main character and Tyler focusing on
destroying the materialistic society with violence to restore a more primitive way of living. However,
in Twitchell s piece, materialism is taken more moderately, describing how materialism has rapidly
expanded throughout the Western nations, questioning the if it is beneficial or malicious. I believe that
materialism does provide great benefits that allowed us human beings to advance as a society.
However materialism introduces numerous complications that impact our society on a macroscale.
Before comparing and contrasting my view of materialism, we will first explore Twitchell s essay,
then Fight Club to first better understand their stance and concept of materialism.
In Twitchell s Allure of Luxury, he takes a negative stance towards materialism, describing the
ideology of it to be

Lithium Ion Batteries Are Made From Lithium
Lithium ion batteries are made from lithium; hence the name. Since lithium is an unstable metal,
lithium ions must be made through chemicals. Lithium is used because it is the lightest metal with the
highest electrochemical potential. Inside these batteries are a positive electrode called the cathode, an
anode or the negative electrode and lithium ions. Theses lithium ions move from the negative
electrode to the positive when it s being used and vice versa when it s being charged. For the
electrodes not to be combined, there is a separator in between the negative and positive electrodes.
Another type of battery is a alkaline batteries, which is made out zinc and manganese dioxide.
Alkaline batteries works like other batteries. There is a negative electrode, zinc powder, a positive
electrode, manganese dioxide, an electrolyte, potassium hydroxide, a separator, and a brass pin. Once
the electrolytes are added, a chemical reaction happens when the manganese dioxide oxidizes and
allows the zinc and manganese dioxide to combine to form electricity in the battery. Zinc carbon
batteries is another type of battery that is made of carbon and zinc. This battery works when the
carbon rod, cathode, in the center collects electrons from the anode, shell of the battery that consists of
zinc chloride, part of the battery, which creates a circuit. An electrolyte paste made from ammonium
chloride surrounds a piece a paper that keeps the electrons moving and causes the battery to produce

Connelly s The Echo Park is the twelfth book in the police procedural series featuring Los Angeles

the methodology in the police department and the position of the investigator as an official functioning
within the procedures of this system. Although, the position of an official within the Police

Simon Sinek s Lecture Hit It Home For Me
Simon Sinek s lecture hit it home for me. Not just because he opened up with the soldier story, but the
fact where do you find people that can emulate what Capt. William did. Capt. William was a selfless
leader. He was not looking for recognition or someone to say way to go . His action is like do to others
as I would want do to me . Capt. William was not working towards any form of power but his own
judgement as to what needed to be done. And if other sees him and felt compelled to help, he was not

If that is their choice to be a passive or authoritative leader, it was not to affective for me. Would have
it been great to work at a place with Ophra. I do see her being a leader that I would like to have
learned from. To have a leader who wants to shape someone to be a better person. Recalling in the
textbook, chapter 2 when discussing about job performances and the presentation about work ethics. It
all give the impression to stem from behavior and motivation. I am not sure of the whole story with
Cpt. William. But I am sure he came from a well rounded situation that felt the need to give back. As I

Positive and Negative Impacts of the Sixties Counterculture
? Positivity ?
Hippies represent the ideological, naive nature that children possess. They feel that with a little love
and conectedness, peace and equality will abound. It is with this assumption that so many activists and
reformers, inspired by the transformation that hippies cultivated, have found the will to persist in
revolutionizing social and political policy. Their alternative lifestyles and radical beleifs were the
shocking blow that American culture segregation, McCarthyism, unjust wars, censorship needed to
prove that some Americans still had the common sense to care for one another. The young people of

Recently Ralph Nader spoke to an enthusiastic and supportive audience at Columbia College. Nader
spoke about the very same issues he lectured about in 1968 corporate rule, environmental protections,

an increased awareness that overtook the young people of the sixties counterculture movement. This
awareness led to a social outcry against injustices in politics.
The hippies, hand in hand with college students, helped stop an unjust, costly, and deathly war in

The Knights Of The Golden Circle Analysis
Many people believe they know the full story of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln; little
do they know, there is a lot more to this story. This extra information deals with a society that centered
around two things, secrecy and slavery. This group was known predominantly as the Knights of the
Golden Circle (KGC). The Knights of the Golden Circle was a secret organization that promoted and
wanted to expand slavery and who played a part in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. The Knights
of the Golden Circle was founded on July 4, 1854 in Lexington, Kentucky. It was founded by George
W. Bickley and five other men, whom he contacted and brought together (Longley). The newly

Even so, there is evidence that Booth was part of the Knights. A trunk that belonged to Booth was
found after Lincoln s death. In it were symbols and coded messages used by the Knights. Modern
researchers have decoded these and have reported that they deal with Lincoln (Ghost Towns of the
East). Along with this, Booth was known for traveling to Montreal often. Montreal was the operations
center for high ranking officials of the Knights at the time (Getler).
Even with all of this information, a person can only guess what was truly happening the whole time.
This is due in part because of the Knights being so secrecy. Even though it is known that Booth did
indeed assassinate Lincoln, it is not known why he went through with it. Was it his own anger towards
losing the war? Or did the Knights assign him to do it? This may forever stay a mystery. All that can
be said for sure is that Booth was a member of the Knights of the Golden Circle, and he took the life
of an innocent man, changing history forever. The rest is up for a person to decide for

Fire In Zoroastrianism
A similar concept of light versus darkness and good versus evil is also present in other religions of the
region. In Hinduism, for instance, the festival of Diwali is a symbolic representation of the victory of
the light or good over the darkness or evil . The concept of light and fire stand in the centre of this
festival, in which people symbolically celebrate the victory of the light over the darkness by lighting
diva , little oil lamp, inside homes and firecrackers outside homes. Thus, the concept of fire , light or
sun in Zoroastrianism, or in the religion of the Āzar people, neither represent nor does it substitute
God. Rather they symbolically demonstrate the direction of prayer and remind believers of the divine
guidance and the trap of the destructive spirit of Ahrīman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

itself. Rather the divine spirit that stands behind this symbolic object is important and sacred. As shall
be discussed further in this section, the Āzaras, the Azaras or the Hazaras of Afghanistan still maintain

Hugh s Treats Essay
In the Hugh s Treats case, the customer whom the drone fell on and suffered serious head injuries can
take legal action against Hugh s treats and the manufacturer of the drones. Further, the wife of the man
who died as a result of food contamination can sue the sea food restaurant for the death of her husband
and for the poisoning she suffered. However, Hugh s Treats can also sue the manufacturer and
distributor of the drones for supplying defective products. In these cases, the plaintiffs must determine
that they have suffered damages as a result of the injuries. The customers can also sue the operator of
the drones. Malfunctions and crashes of drones are usually caused by manufacturing defects, which

In Pakistan, Which Aspires To Be A Islamic State , Sectarian
In Pakistan, which aspires to be a Islamic state , sectarian conflict is part of, and interacts with,
broader issues concerning the place of Islam in public life. There are sectarian identities which
diversify each group and say who belongs to what sect , for example the believing of attending a
mosque or madarasa. Islamization, or the introduction of Islamic norms and institutions through
government policy or decree, is another factor which has often provoked and defined sectarian
controversies in Pakistan. That Pakistan professes to be an Islamic state means that Islamic laws will
be not observed in that state but enforced by it. This practice was introduced in 1979 by General Zia

According to Siddiqui , blasphemy laws were requested to target minorities. Blasphemy law is a law
limiting the freedom of speech and expression and are used to protect the religious beliefs of a

It attracted much attention in Pakistan but the misuse would only cause violence. Christians and non
Sunni Muslims were being beaten by the public without any legal fines. Siddiqui states
In a 2013 study by the Pew Research Center, Pakistan had the highest possible score on the social
hostilities involving religions index, which measures acts of religious hostility by private individuals,
organizations, and social groups. This includes religion related armed conflict or terrorism, mob or
sectarian violence, harassment over attire for religious reasons, and other religion related intimidation

militant organizations. [ Siddiqui , 2015 , Pg 6 ]

Disappointing Tragedy Of Suicide Squad
Disappointing Tragedy in Suicide Squad
Suicide Squad (2016) is a comic book based movie that was announced late 2014 with the expectation
of being a thrilling film. David Ayer, the director of Suicide Squad, has many years of experience
working on action based movies. Some familiar movies that he directed are: The Fast and the Furious
(2001), S.W.A.T (2003), and Fury (2014). Some of these films received double the ratings Suicide
Squad obtained. In spite of Ayer s professional history, he failed to make an appealing movie. The
Unorganized editing, negligent lovers story, and incorrect character portrayal, are just some reasons
Suicide Squad received low ratings from many trustworthy movie critics.

The Digital Possession Of Human Since The 19th Century
1. Publishing is the process of making information available and present to the public. Making things
public or generally known has its impact on the society. When modes of publishing change, the
communicative aspect of the society changes. Information flows differently in the respective time, and
the movement has transformed the social interaction between people.

Cons: Pagoda s current solution to handle the online help desk services in house is more expensive
than if they were to outsource this function. If Pagoda is not proactive in looking for new innovative
technological options for the company to consider, then they risk being eventually overtaken by a
competitor that has made more technological advancements.
Alternative 2: Pagoda can choose to outsource the online help desk service to the New Delhi firm and
hope that the transition is seamless and goes unnoticed to their customers. Outsourcing the online help
desk services will free up more time and money for Pagoda to put towards updating their equipment
software to ensure that they remain a state of art business, as well as staying ahead of their competitors
in the industry.
Pros: Pagoda will be able to realize a significant cost savings by outsourcing the online help desk
service while their customers continue to receive the same level of service. The IT industry is
continuously evolving and if Pagoda does not continue to research and apply new innovative
techniques, they may eventually be overtaken by a competitor who does the same thing cheaper and
faster. The money that Pagoda saves from outsourcing can be used towards additional research and
innovation for the company s future.
Cons: If the transition to the New Delhi firm is noticed by their customers, then Pagoda risks losing

John Dewey Progressive Education Analysis
In the writing, Experience and Education (1938), John Dewey recognizes and refutes the argument
that progressive education lacks student control. He clarifies (1938), that his ideas of progressive
education certainly possess student control and that it, in fact, requires a more developed pedagogical
knowledge than traditional school management systems (Dewey, 1938). The control is social, much
like that of the outside world. He provides examples that illustrate this concept in real life: the
competitive game in which rules are natural and accepted by all players and the cooperative family
unit, in which each member plays a part (Dewey,1938). There is control present in these two out of
classroom situations, but it is social control build upon relationships and a common task, instead of a
top down system. Dewey (1938), explains that control and freedom can, and do, co exist; social
control, does not have to involve the restriction of personal freedom (Dewey, 1938, p. 21). In his
model, there is not a being of external restriction or regulation, or the desire of one person to exhibit
obvious authority on the group. Instead, individuals are part of the community, not outside of it
(Dewey, 1938, p. 21). All members of the group must participate and feel as though they are part of
the group, and the controls that are set in place, are for the betterment of the group as a whole, and
must be perceived that way (Dewey, 1938). With this in mind, the learning community, the

In places like South Africa, the white researcher has less of an advantage in conducting research

The Lessons That The American Experience With Federalism
Report on the lessons that the American experience with federalism may offer to the development of

Introduction
Federalism laid the foundation of the United States of America as the powerful nation we know it
today, and therefore it was ideal as an implement in the shaping of the European Union. The concept
of federalism has been a part of the US s political identity for as long as one can remember, but it has

Thus, these political divisions are granted a certain degree of autonomy, that unlike in decentralised
states, it is based upon constitutional ground, this is, in states that are built by a decentralised system
or devolution of powers, the central power has the capacity of overruling any decision it may wish to;
however, in a federal state, the withdrawal of policy making that the central government may not
approve of is a much more complex process, as the local authority has the constitutional right to
approve its own measures, as sovereignty is constitutionally divided (Norris, 2001. Chapter 7).
Effectiveness in multi level governance (MLG)
Alexis de Tocqueville, one of the most important political thinkers of his time, and a great scholar in
comparative federalism, in his Democracy in America mentions how old Europe could learn from
young America regarding the enactment of the concept of federalism, particularly in terms of the
problem of legitimacy in the context of multi level governance (Nicolaidis Howse, 2001). It is in this
aspect, that the EU must avoid its statist approach to sovereignty and must keep on the track of the
subsidiarity principle, i.e., the allocation or the use of authority within a political order where there is
no unitary sovereign (Nicolaidis Howse, 2001. Chapter 4.) This is, despite the fear of a loss of credit,

DP updates the account of the investor.
Demat options
There are many hundreds of Depository Participants (DPs) offering the Demat account facility in India
as of September 2011. A comparison of the fees charged by different DPs is detailed below.
There are a few distinct advantages of having a bank as a DP. Having a Demat account with a bank
DP, usually provides quick processing, accessibility, convenience, and online transaction capability to
the investor. Generally, banks credit the Demat account with shares in case of purchase, or credit a
savings account with the proceeds of a sale, on the third day. Banks are also advantageous because of
the number of branches they have. Some banks give the option of opening a demat account in any
branch, while others restrict themselves to a select set of branches. Some private banks also provide
online access to the demat account. Hence, the investors can conveniently check online details of their
holdings, transactions and status of requests through their bank s net banking facility. A broker who
acts as a DP may not be able to provide these services.

Even though Singer uses speciesism to explain the lack of empathy towards animals, a
counterargument to his theory exists in Marina Keegan s essay Why We Care About Whales. Keegan
points out that a tremendous amount of money goes towards the rescue of beached whales when it
could go towards helping humanity and other more dire issues. The question becomes whether or not
our inability to stop the mass consumption of meat is actually because speciesism makes it so we don t

This is why Singer contributed so strongly into the animal rights movement, he wanted to educate
people so they would hopefully fall into the avoidance category. Johnson states that Animal Liberation
is one of those rare books that demand that you either defend the way you live, or change it because it
does educate people on the brutal conditions that animals deal with in order to be meat on the plates of

will be persuaded to switch to a plant based diet is slim because most are too accustomed to it. Again,
It would be like teaching an old dog new tricks. Johnson even goes as far to mention how thousands,
convinced by Singer and the like, become vegetarians for moral reasons. And then most of those
thousands start eating meat again (898). However, this isn t the individual s fault necessarily. How
realistic it is to adhere to a plant based diet when the resources can be so limited? Often the cheapest
high quality protein available to the poor comes from animals, and then we must wonder is we should
let people starve for the sake of animals (899). The answer is a bitter yes in

The Importance Of A Irish Step Dancing
Another major change in Irish step dancing since its creation, and even in the last century, is the actual
movement of the dancers. Watching Irish step dancing now, it is very clear that the movement is about
the feet. In competition, dancers move their feet and legs quickly and swiftly in order to impress
judges and the audience. Another distinct feature about Irish dance as opposed to other dance styles is
the rigidity of the top half of the body. Dancers keep their torsos straight and keep their arms at their
side. Keeping the arms at the sides is so important to the sport that judges will actually deduct points
from a dancer s score if there is any movement in the arms. However, this rigidity in the torso and
arms was not always the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aside from the lack of movement in the arms, Irish step dancing has begun to feature much more
technically difficult moves that are much faster, much harder, and much more showstopping. It is
believed that these moves in competition have been inspired by the globally known Irish step dancing
show, Riverdance. This show, which features group numbers, is famous for its enchanting nature.
Dance Magazine described the show as being famous for its long li ne of unison Irish step dancers
who pound out lightning fast rhythms with ramrod straight arms (Carr 16). The lightning fast
movement that has been mesmerizing audiences across the globe since the shows debut in 1995, has
been picked up by competitive Irish dancers and has completely changed the style of dance. Dancers
often wear two different types of shoes, a soft shoe and a hard shoe, for two different types of dances.
While soft shoe dances are still about being graceful and gliding across the floor, hard shoe dances
have picked up the show stopping mannerisms of shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance,
another famous travelling Irish step dancing show. Mary Lou Schade, the founder of the Schade
school of Irish Dance in New York actually attributes the change in the dance steps to these two dance
shows. In Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, the music is very fast, so it makes the steps look very
difficult. In competitive dancing, there are regulated tempi. For example, the hornpipe [a

examples of cold blooded killers that walked free for many years. They grew up in communities,

killers head? Or the even bigger question is, how did they become that way? Are these killers products
of their environment (nurture), or a product of their biological make up (nature)? It is important to
define the terms environment and heredity, as so they are not ambiguous. Environment is defined as
the circumstances by which one is surrounded. Hereditary is defined as being based on inheritance,

circumstances of their genes passed from their ancestors? I believe serial killers genetic nature
(heredity) is the largest contributing factor to their desire to kill. In this essay I am going to review

  • 2. The Exhibition Experience Using Falk And Dierking s... People gather halfway through the Andy Warhol exhibition, at The Portland Art Museum, in front of a looping short film of Warhol eating a burger ending with I m Andy Warhol and I just finished eating a burger (, n.d.). The exhibition, provided by the Jordan Schnitzer family, is the largest collection of Warhol s work to ever be on display (Portland Art Museum, n.d.). I will be evaluating the Warhol exhibition experience using Falk and Dierking s Interactive Experience Model (IEM). IEM entails factors form both outside and inside the institution, contributing to the museum experience in three different contexts, the sociocultural (social), physical, and personal. Unknowingly the visitor uses these contexts to interact with the exhibition and museum, before, during and after the visit takes place. Museum staff can use these contexts to evaluate the visitor experience determining the success of the exhibition and revealing areas for improvement. Researching a museum before the visit is an important factor in the visitor gaining useful knowledge on the exhibition and experience ahead. Upon visiting the website I was able find large amounts of information pertaining to the Warhol exhibition that would be beneficial for my visit. The website provided concise information on the museum location, parking information in the area, cost of admission, and should expected and gained from the exhibition. The large exhibition has been built to display a timeline of Warhol s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Justifying Appeasement Essay example Justifying Appeasement Appeasement was the foreign policy followed by the British and French governments in the 1930s, whereby they did not attack or confront other governments, specifically that of Germany s, when international laws were breached, but rather gave into some of the demands to keep the peace. After the horror and dramatic loss of innocent lives (amassing over 3 million) in the First World War, both the French and the British governments were keen to avoid any more blood shed and their pacifist policies meant they started to take a very lenient attitude towards breached international laws. They knew that the general public, for whom the memories of war were still rife, thought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The allies felt that if they gave in to Hitler s reasonable demands about the Treaty, he would be satisfied and Germany would become a peaceful nation again. This notion seems to have little grounding or thorough consideration on the part of the British and French, who s blind faith in Hitler being satisfied with only these reforms was to have disastrous consequences. I do not feel that Appeasement was justified by the government at the time, and certainly is not in retrospect, considering the part it played in Hitler s rise to power. The spread of Communism and the new dangers to world peace posed by Stalin (the new leader of the USSR) were prevalent threats to the allies. Hitler s anti Communist policies were appealing to the British and French as a bulwark against this threat so they did not want to be too harsh with him. Appeasement was justifiable as a way of keeping Hitler on side in an attempt to use him as protection. The British and French governments were also concerned with the economic problems they faced in their own countries, such as recession, inflation, unemployment. They were using rearmament as a way to tackle the latter of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. We Have A Game Battle Danny. Danny! My teacher yelled. I woke up confused while everybody is staring at me like hawks. I explained that I was day dreaming but she wasn t listening, so I told myself Only 10 more minutes. Beep! The class rose and bolted out the classroom door. The halls looked like a giant pack of buffalo herding down the halls, when I was walking I saw my friends exit the main doors. My friends were waiting for me out side. When I got outside they flocked up around me and were yelling Are you going to play Call of Duty This weekend? You know we have a game battle right? I was shocked about how fast they were talking but I said we have $600 to win. When I arrived at my house I could feel the addiction kicking in; my Xbox was pulling me into my room, I sat down turned on my controller and instantly focused. For a couple days, my group would practice for the tournament. I was so focused that I felt like I could make something move with my mind. We made call outs left and right left... left... left! Hospital...Hospital! But this was just practice for the real game. A little bit of time passed and my friends were talking about if we won the game, but I told them not the jinx the game. The game was just a day away. Me and my friends were getting ready for the game by more practice but this time if they messed up they will have to do a something they re not going to like. After we practiced my friends came over to my house so we could give each other advice and just have an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. One Day Of The Life Of Ivan Denisovich By Aleksandr... The novel, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, depicts how prisoners endure and survive life in the gulag camp. Solzhenitsyn suggests that the prisoners ability of surviving in the camp depends on how they view the work they are assigned. Within the camp a majority of the prisoners time is spent dedicated to work assigned to them from the guards. Throughout the novel it is suggested that those who have a good work ethic are more likely to survive than those who do not. The ways in which they can survive include being hard working, focusing intently on the work and taking on multiple job roles. This allows them to gain favours or an offering from fellow prisoners. This is principally shown through the two contrasting characters, Ivan Denisovich and Fetiuokov. Ivan Denisovich, also referred to as Shukhov, is described as extremely hard working and is always occupied with jobs that may at first appear arbitrary. Although they appear to be arbitrary they are actually carefully and selectively chosen according to what Shukhov will gain in return from completing them. Ivan Denisovich is thought to be one of the best workers in the camp because of his positive attitude towards work. Whilst working on a wall there was need of a bricklayer so Shukhov thought he might as well be one because he believes that if you can do two things with your hands, you ll soon pick up another ten. • 7. Logistics 11.1 Logistics In both vertical and horizontal marketing systems, systematised information contributes to the efficient flow of goods and services from the point of origin to the point of consumption. This process of regulation begins with customer service and extends to the procurement, handling, and processing of resources aimed at delivering customer satisfaction. All ways in which resources are procured, handled, and processed fall within a set of activities known as logistics. Logistics is a process of systematising information to facilitate the efficient and cost effective flows of goods and services to produce customer satisfaction. Each member in the supply chain must be involved in logistics activities. Logistics flows may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not Really, Just Cutting Edge Logistical Practice Retailer and wholesaler sales reps having offices next to their supplier s factory floor? Wearing badges allowing them to roam wherever they want, attend production status meetings, or log onto sales forecasts? Independently record ing sales orders for which their customers are billed? Welcome to the brave new world of logistics, where channel members treat their suppliers and distributors almost like their employees. The behaviours described above are due to JIT II, the new version of just in time inventory control. While the original JIT tended to cultivate hostility by putting extreme pressure on suppliers, JIT II is designed to create harmony and efficiencies on both sides of the channel. Based on the decision to share previ ously guarded information such as up to the minute sales forecasts, JIT II must rely heavily on trust since the companies involved could face serious conflicts of interest. In spite of the advances, however, traditional manufacturer distributor mistrust and hard nosed negotiations over price, quantity discounts, or shipping terms still linger. Customers and suppliers both worry about releasing too much confidential data or technology. Manufacturers, in particular, expose themselves to risk by revealing their costs. Such suppliers may suddenly find themselves at the mercy of customers trying to squeeze their margins. But some success stories are already in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Culture And Geography Of The Korean Culture South Korea is a country with a multi faceted culture, ranging from K pop, Korean cuisine, beauty products and Kdramas. Recently Korean culture, also referred to as the KWave, has been expanding around the globe at an exponential rate. As someone who has been invested in the Korean culture for a couple years now, some of my favorite things about it is being able to learn about the culture and geography of South Korea through watching Kdramas and Korean movies. The movies I have chosen for this assignment are: Train to Busan, A Werewolf Boy, A Stray Goat, Tazza: The Hidden Card, and Silenced. In the movies I have chosen to review and compare we get to see a whole lot of the geography of the country, starting from the northern part of South Korea, Seoul, all the way to the southern region of Busan, and also exploring the countryside and other cities like Goseong, Gwangju. In these movies we will see all kinds of geography from physical, economic, cultural, city, rural, and so much more, and how each movie uses and portrays each geographical location to more deep themes like safety, community, memories, and even acceptance. The way I ordered this movies was from my least favorite to my most favorite The film, A Stray Goat (2016), directed by Cho Jaemin, is about a boy named Minshik who moves to a small town called Suyang Li, in Goseong. His father who is a priest tries to begin a new church. Minshik then starts to school and meets a girl name Yejoo, who is constantly bullied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Descriptive Essay For Softball Since I was a little girl my dream was to always play the highest level of softball as possible. I wanted to be the best pitcher there ever was. The first position I ever learned to play was also the one that almost ended my softball career. Starting out in little league the pitcher is required to wear a batting helmet while playing the pitching position. This is for ages normally 5 and under, at this age the girls are still using pitching machines or coach pitch. As the older the girls get the rules change, no face mask or helmet has to be worn while pitching. As for me I hated wearing face mask, I always had an excuse to not wear it. Who would ve thought that it would one day save my life. My mom and I are both as stubborn as a mule. We both want to get our own ways, and most of the time our ways are polar opposites from one another. So therefore one of us has to give and me being the child 95% of the time it s me. When it came to softball most of the time are arguments were about when and when not I should have to wear a face mask. My main two positions are first base and pitcher. These two positions require fast reaction time as well does third base. This is because while the pitcher is in her wind up the first and third basemen are creeping closer towards the batter to be ready to field a bunt or a ground ball. This is not always the case though, sometimes when the batter is squared up to bunt we crash towards the batter as fast as we can and countless of the times they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Conflicts In The Outsiders There are many characters in the Outsiders book that found their identity in conflict. Bob is one of the characters in the Outsiders that found his identity in conflict. He didn t have anything to find his identity in and the result of that was finding his identity in conflict and being in a gang. Randy found his identity in conflict and he also rose out of being a person who sought conflict in his everyday life. In the book, Randy participated in beating up Johnny, and certainly in fights with other Greasers. And we ll still be the lucky ones with all the breaks. So it doesn t do any good, the fighting and the killing (Hinton 117). In that quote, you realize that after Bob died it was like Randy waked up for the first time and saw what really mattered and saw Greasers and Socs just as ordinary people. Dally in the book found his identity in conflict which then made it s way to him killing himself. Johnny and the gang impacted Dally a great deal. The gang and being a Greaser was Dally s identity and he loved that about himself. Johnny played an immense role in Dally s life. When Johnny died Dally s life fell apart because Johnny was like a brother to Dally (quote that talks about Johnny being like a brother to Dally chapter 10). Dally felt like a big brother to Johnny. Dally sensed Johnny s need to have him be his protector. Once Johnny dies, it is too much for Dally to handle. He is completely shocked and burdened by it, which ends up being the reason behind Dally killing himself. Dally doesn t know how to deal with Johnny s death and quickly lashes out any way he ... • 11. Performance Appraisal- Management Procedure Performance appraisals are an essential element of the general performance management procedure. A performance management structure involves having an appraisal technique or method, substantiated by job types, colloquial and continuous feedback, leadership training, performance expectations, punitive policies, as well as employee productivity and acknowledgement. In addition, both positive and negative feedback are elements that are instrumental in the arena of performance management. However, the paramount cause of performance appraisal efficiency as well as effectiveness is how well each of these elements correlates with one another. Performance appraisal is the procedure through which employee performance is evaluated, feedback is delivered, and development plans are designed (Youssef, 2012). Therefore, strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) is vital to successful organizational objectives. While the core objective of performance appraisals is the evaluation of employees work performance, organizations utilize performance appraisals for a variety of goals; these include managing salaries, wages, and pay incentives and adjustments. In addition performance appraisals can be performed by management to establish job placement decisions, and to validate employee punitive decisions (Youssef, 2012). Performance appraisal is made up of several components. Youssef states... A holistic approach to performance appraisal means viewing performance as a multidimensional system of ... • 12. The Allure Of Luxury By Chuck Palahniuk If Tyler Durden from Fight Club was sitting inside $340,000 Lamborghini Aventador, his hatred towards materialism probably would have driven him to accelerate the car right into the ocean. If James Twitchell was sitting inside of it, he probably would have just left the car in a parking structure with the keys still inside. Chuck Palahniuk s novel Fight Club and James Twitchell s essay The Allure of Luxury both take negative against the concept and phenomenon of Western materialism, where society indulge on luxurious items to the extent of being the focus of life. In Fight Club, the idea of anti materialism is taken to a great extent, with the book s main character and Tyler focusing on destroying the materialistic society with violence to restore a more primitive way of living. However, in Twitchell s piece, materialism is taken more moderately, describing how materialism has rapidly expanded throughout the Western nations, questioning the if it is beneficial or malicious. I believe that materialism does provide great benefits that allowed us human beings to advance as a society. However materialism introduces numerous complications that impact our society on a macroscale. Before comparing and contrasting my view of materialism, we will first explore Twitchell s essay, then Fight Club to first better understand their stance and concept of materialism. • 13. Lithium Ion Batteries Are Made From Lithium Lithium ion batteries are made from lithium; hence the name. Since lithium is an unstable metal, lithium ions must be made through chemicals. Lithium is used because it is the lightest metal with the highest electrochemical potential. Inside these batteries are a positive electrode called the cathode, an anode or the negative electrode and lithium ions. Theses lithium ions move from the negative electrode to the positive when it s being used and vice versa when it s being charged. For the electrodes not to be combined, there is a separator in between the negative and positive electrodes. Another type of battery is a alkaline batteries, which is made out zinc and manganese dioxide. Alkaline batteries works like other batteries. There is a negative electrode, zinc powder, a positive electrode, manganese dioxide, an electrolyte, potassium hydroxide, a separator, and a brass pin. Once the electrolytes are added, a chemical reaction happens when the manganese dioxide oxidizes and allows the zinc and manganese dioxide to combine to form electricity in the battery. Zinc carbon batteries is another type of battery that is made of carbon and zinc. This battery works when the carbon rod, cathode, in the center collects electrons from the anode, shell of the battery that consists of zinc chloride, part of the battery, which creates a circuit. An electrolyte paste made from ammonium chloride surrounds a piece a paper that keeps the electrons moving and causes the battery to produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Police Procedurals In The Echo Park The Interference of the personal with the professional: Michael Connelly s The Echo Park Michael Connelly s The Echo Park is the twelfth book in the police procedural series featuring Los Angeles detective Hieronymus Harry Bosch. Police procedurals as the name suggests highlight the workings of the methodology in the police department and the position of the investigator as an official functioning within the procedures of this system. Although, the position of an official within the Police Establishment privileges the investigator, it also acts as a constraint. • 28. John Dewey Progressive Education Analysis In the writing, Experience and Education (1938), John Dewey recognizes and refutes the argument that progressive education lacks student control. He clarifies (1938), that his ideas of progressive education certainly possess student control and that it, in fact, requires a more developed pedagogical knowledge than traditional school management systems (Dewey, 1938). The control is social, much like that of the outside world. He provides examples that illustrate this concept in real life: the competitive game in which rules are natural and accepted by all players and the cooperative family unit, in which each member plays a part (Dewey,1938). There is control present in these two out of classroom situations, but it is social control build upon relationships and a common task, instead of a top down system. Dewey (1938), explains that control and freedom can, and do, co exist; social control, does not have to involve the restriction of personal freedom (Dewey, 1938, p. 21). In his model, there is not a being of external restriction or regulation, or the desire of one person to exhibit obvious authority on the group. Instead, individuals are part of the community, not outside of it (Dewey, 1938, p. 21). All members of the group must participate and feel as though they are part of the group, and the controls that are set in place, are for the betterment of the group as a whole, and must be perceived that way (Dewey, 1938). Demat options There are many hundreds of Depository Participants (DPs) offering the Demat account facility in India as of September 2011. Having a Demat account with a bank DP, usually provides quick processing, accessibility, convenience, and online transaction capability to the investor. Generally, banks credit the Demat account with shares in case of purchase, or credit a savings account with the proceeds of a sale, on the third day. • 36. Marina Keegan s Essay Why We Care About Whales Even though Singer uses speciesism to explain the lack of empathy towards animals, a counterargument to his theory exists in Marina Keegan s essay Why We Care About Whales. Keegan points out that a tremendous amount of money goes towards the rescue of beached whales when it could go towards helping humanity and other more dire issues. The question becomes whether or not our inability to stop the mass consumption of meat is actually because speciesism makes it so we don t care about the rights or lives of other animals, or is there another piece to the puzzle? Keegan argues that we care tremendously, In theory [Keegan] can say that our resources should be concentrated on saving human lives, that our Save the Whales T Shirts should read ... This is why Singer contributed so strongly into the animal rights movement, he wanted to educate people so they would hopefully fall into the avoidance category. Johnson states that Animal Liberation is one of those rare books that demand that you either defend the way you live, or change it because it does educate people on the brutal conditions that animals deal with in order to be meat on the plates of billions of people (898). Although reality is that the odds that everyone who reads Singer s argument will be persuaded to switch to a plant based diet is slim because most are too accustomed to it. Again, It would be like teaching an old dog new tricks. Johnson even goes as far to mention how thousands, convinced by Singer and the like, become vegetarians for moral reasons. And then most of those thousands start eating meat again (898). However, this isn t the individual s fault necessarily. How realistic it is to adhere to a plant based diet when the resources can be so limited? Often the cheapest high quality protein available to the poor comes from animals, and then we must wonder is we should let people starve for the sake of animals (899). The answer is a bitter yes in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Importance Of A Irish Step Dancing Another major change in Irish step dancing since its creation, and even in the last century, is the actual movement of the dancers. Watching Irish step dancing now, it is very clear that the movement is about the feet. In competition, dancers move their feet and legs quickly and swiftly in order to impress judges and the audience. Another distinct feature about Irish dance as opposed to other dance styles is the rigidity of the top half of the body. Dancers keep their torsos straight and keep their arms at their side. Keeping the arms at the sides is so important to the sport that judges will actually deduct points from a dancer s score if there is any movement in the arms. However, this rigidity in the torso and arms was not always the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aside from the lack of movement in the arms, Irish step dancing has begun to feature much more technically difficult moves that are much faster, much harder, and much more showstopping. It is believed that these moves in competition have been inspired by the globally known Irish step dancing show, Riverdance. This show, which features group numbers, is famous for its enchanting nature. Dance Magazine described the show as being famous for its long li ne of unison Irish step dancers who pound out lightning fast rhythms with ramrod straight arms (Carr 16). The lightning fast movement that has been mesmerizing audiences across the globe since the shows debut in 1995, has been picked up by competitive Irish dancers and has completely changed the style of dance. Dancers often wear two different types of shoes, a soft shoe and a hard shoe, for two different types of dances. While soft shoe dances are still about being graceful and gliding across the floor, hard shoe dances have picked up the show stopping mannerisms of shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, another famous travelling Irish step dancing show. Mary Lou Schade, the founder of the Schade school of Irish Dance in New York actually attributes the change in the dance steps to these two dance shows. In Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, the music is very fast, so it makes the steps look very difficult. In competitive dancing, there are regulated tempi. For example, the hornpipe [a ... Ted Bundy, Dennis Raider, And The Zodiac Killer Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Dennis Raider, and the Zodiac Killer; All of these men are real life examples of cold blooded killers that walked free for many years. They grew up in communities, attended schools, they drove the same roads you and I do, and they may have even appeared to some as normal. Serial killers live amongst us today, many are not suspected by their neighbors, friends, or family, until the day they make a fatal error leading to their arrest, and for some, they may never be caught. With this being said, it really makes an average person ask themselves, what is going on in a killers head? Or the even bigger question is, how did they become that way? Are these killers products of their environment (nurture), or a product of their biological make up (nature)? It is important to define the terms environment and heredity, as so they are not ambiguous. Environment is defined as the circumstances by which one is surrounded. Hereditary is defined as being based on inheritance, generally in the sense of genetics, which is our biological makeup. Are serial killers more prone to kill out of the various factors of their independent lives? Or are they more prone to kill due to the natural circumstances of their genes passed from their ancestors? I believe serial killers genetic nature (heredity) is the largest contributing factor to their desire to kill.
