The Effects Of Nuclear Power On America
Nuclear Power in America
On Wednesday, March 28, 1979, around 4 a.m., there was a failure in the water pumps at the Three
Mile Island in Middletown, Pennsylvania. This led to a partial meltdown of a nuclear power plant. The
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (now
Health and Human Services), the Department of Energy, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania all
conducted particular studies of the radiological consequences of the accident. Approximately two
million people were estimated to have received an average of one millirem of radiation, and there was
a maximum dose to a person who was at the site of 100 millirem ( Backgrounder ). To put this into
perspective, an exposure from a single chest X ray is two to six millirem ( Doses ). However, this put
fear into the minds of politicians and others all across the country. What the people do not know,
though, is nuclear is better. Instead of using fossil fuels and wind power, America ought to switch to
nuclear energy to power the country because it is safer, cleaner, less expensive, and more reliable than
the current ways of producing energy
The United States (U.S.) gets 84% of its total energy from oil, coal, and natural gas, all of which are
fossil fuels ( Fossil Fuels. ) And in 2008, 49% of U.S. electricity came from just coal. This is largely
due to the abundant supply of coal in the U.S., and it is a relatively inexpensive energy source.
However, what are the costs of

Research Paper On Plastic Pollution

Dr.Arturo Vega
October 30,2017
Policy Analysis Paper:
Introduction:
While taking one of my SMC courses at St.Mary s University, my professor began a discussion on
plastics pollution and the effects it has on the environment. My professor began to talk more and more
about this uncharted territory known as plastic pollution I never knew plastic was so harmful and what
it is doing to our environment. What I knew then does not compare to what I know now. Everything
that I have included in this research paper stems from what I have learned and the policies we have in
the United States, the state of Texas, and the city of San Antonio.
Issue Definition:
Here I identified the who what when and how and the main issue ... Show more content on

The Solution: would be to either provide incentivized programs and or tax on plastic, or leave
everything the way it is.
I will attempt to analyze our current use of programs to prevent further plastic pollution the San
Antonio area, and whether or not we stay with the status quo, implement buyback programs or tax
people who want plastic bags.
The defining issue at hand is the increasing plastic presence, the pollution it brings along with, the
disposal we provide, or do not provide. Plastic is going to be one of the leading issues in the next few
years, right next to climate change.
Background: Plastic is made up of carbon, this is a man made product which is specifically from oil.
There were other creations before the discovery of plastic, in 1923 it was the Macintosh and rubber,
then in 1839 the company Goodyear combined rubber and sulfur creating moldable stable substance,
this process is known as vulcanization. In the 1850 s though 1870 s there was the ivory trade and
billiard balls, and in 1909 the create of modern plastics, Bakelite. Then in 1930 we created the
thermoplastic.
There are 7 different type of plastics, polyethylene, polystyrene, polyethylene terephthalate, polyvinyl
chloride, polytetrafluorethylene, polyvinylidene, and polypropylene. Polyethylene, is the more
commonly found plastic, this is our plastic bags, soda and water bottles, plastic films and their cases,
and garbage bags. Polystyrene, in

Viola Odorata s
In a controlled experiment, how is a plants growth affected by its surroundings? Environmental factors
such as light, water, temperature, and nutrition all take part in plant growth. But do plants affect each
other? If there are three Viola odorata s in a container, then they will grow faster and more efficiently
compared to a container holding nine Viola odorata s whereas they would most likely absorb more
water and other environmental factors.
A Viola odorata is an annual plant that is also known as a sweet violet Wellsiana . These plants
naturally complete their life cycles in about the span of one growing season; in which the plant
sprouts, grows, flowers, sets seed and then dies. Some annuals, including Viola s, thrive in cold
weather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not to be confused with plant fertilization which is a common mistake. For normal growth
plants are in need of these eighteen elements: hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen which are found in air
and water. The next six elements are known as macronutrients: nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus,
calcium, sulfur, and magnesium which are found in soil. The last nine elements are called the
micronutrients: iron, zinc, molybdenum, nickel, manganese, boron, copper, cobalt, and chlorine which
are found in the soil. All these elements are crucial. Majority of the plants nutrients are dissolved in
water and immersed by the roots. Active absorption is important and essential for the plant to grow
healthy, but the nutrients can be absorbed passively. Some factors that may affect the absorption of
nutrients throughout the roots are the soil pH, type of ion, solubility of ion pairs, oxygen, water, soil,
sugar supply, temperature, and plant stress.
In conclusion, if a container holds a total of three Viola odorata s and absorb more water and other
environmental factors that contribute to plant growth and development, then they will grow faster and
more efficiently than a container that carries nine Viola odorata s that will take in less water, sunlight,
and nutrients since they are all fighting for it. The fact that all the environmental factors play such a
key role in plant growth signifies their importance and the very reason that plants would die without

Essay on Saul s Tragedy
The plot summary is about a man named Saul who was courageous in battle. He was a generous king.
Early in his reign he was admired and respected by the people. However, his life turned into a tragedy
for one reason. Saul did not trust in God. Saul and his servant had just left the Land of Benjamin
because they were in search for Saul s father asses. Saul had figured that they could not find them and
wanted to turn back to tell his father, but his servant suggested otherwise. The servant had suggested
that they go see a well known prophet in the city of Israel. So instead they venture off to the city of
Israel and encountered the prophet. When Saul and his servant came across Prophet Samuel s path

When Abinadab realizes this he cries out to his brother and he tries to help Malkishua, but fails. In his
attempt to help Malkishua, Abinadab gets wounded; Jonathan sees this and runs towards Abinadab. As
Jonathan and Abinadab defend themselves from the Philistine they soon are surrounded and killed
horrendously. Their cries were as loud as thunder.
As the tide of battle swiftly turns against the Jews, as Samuel had predicted. King Saul tries to make it
to where his sons are battling, but is too late. He is too occupied defending himself from the
Philistines and can only watch as his two sons suffer defeat. Afterwards, King Saul gets severely
wounded by the Philistine s archers in his legs and becomes unable move. As many fled for their lives,
King Saul s loses hope in winning the war. After having to see the death of his three sons, he gives up
all hope in winning.
King Saul dreaded the thought of falling into the hands of his heathen enemies (King Saul s pride). So
instead of dying by his enemies he calls his armor bearer to slay him. However, the armor bearer is to
terrified and will not obey King Saul. Therefore, King Saul kills himself by falling upon his sword.
Since, the armor bearer saw that King Saul was dead. The armor bearer also fell upon his sword and
died along with his King.
Thus, King Saul, his three sons, his armor bearer, and some of the army died together that same day.

Discovering Cancer Cells In Peripheral Blood Focusing On
Discovering Cancer Cells in Peripheral Blood Focusing on Breast Cancer
Taylor Mitchell
Thomas University
Abstract
The discovery and use of tumor cells in pertinent to the development, diagnosis and treatment of
cancer. This paper will show specific research not only about tumor cells but also about circulating
tumor cells (CTC). It is important to understand how these cells are discovered and the recent
development in finding them in peripheral blood in a minimal amount of time. The Chemistry,
Pathology and Laboratory departments conduct a study on 90 specimens from 24 patients, all who
have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Using flow cytometry, this article will go into detail about the
usage and findings of CTCs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also correlates to the response white blood cells have in peripheral blood (Jia et al., 2015).
Tumor markers and cancers cells are both produced by cancer that is the tale tell sign for the
appropriate diagnosis. Tumor markers can help detect, diagnose and treat certain kinds of cancer.
Doctors will biopsy, measure and test tumors to discover whether or not it is malignant or benign (
Tumor Markers). Tumor markers can reveal the stage along with the prognosis of the patient. Tumor
markers not the only sign that can be used to discover cancer in a patient. Circulating tumor cells is
also a useful tool. It is defined by the CellSearch assay, that CTC is a cell that is EpCAM positive,
cytokeratin positive, CD45 negative, and nuclear stain positive (Zhao et al., 2013).
The Department of Chemistry, Laboratory and Pathology at the University of Washington in Seattle,
WA conducted a study to increase the automated number of the counting method for CTCs in whole
blood using their own recently developed ensemble decision aliquot ranking or eDAR. While these
cells were reported about 150 years ago, they have continued to be a useful tool in diagnosis cancer
and its treatment (Zhao et al., 2013). These particular cells has been discovered in patients with
different kinds of cancer (Zhao et al., 2013). Unfortunately, however, observation of these cells comes
at a timely cost. Up until recently it took

Henry Ford American Experience Analysis
When trying to make connections between democracy and capitalism, and how they play a role in our
everyday society, looking closely at the emergence of a powerful company can be very informative.
Throughout the documentary Henry Ford American Experience, we are introduced to the humble
beginnings of the one well known company in today s society, the Ford Motor Company. With the in
depth account of the creator himself, Henry Ford and the focus on the labor practices used in his
company, one can understand how the establishment came to be. It is said that the modern automobile
is mainly credited to the work of the Germans and French during the late 1800s, but America during

It created a better way of transportation, produced opportunities to new forms of leisure and added to
the building up of the city. The Model T also added great success to the Ford Motor Company. Not
only did Ford contribute his automobile, but he introduced ideas like the assembly line and through
the popularity of the automobile built up industries like oil and rubber(American). Henry Ford was a
man who contributed a lot to the people of his time, but not everyone felt the same way about him.
Henry Ford was a man who came from a farming family in Michigan. He felt that the best people
were the simple, plain, hard working people (American). In all of his actions, we see him as a man
who takes care of those like himself. However, the worst people were those who he felt were in
control, in this case, the rich. In his eyes, the common man contributed the most to society. His love for
the everyday people fueled his desire to help them live a better life, this can be seen in both positive
and negative ways. For one Ford created the Model T to be affordable, at only $850 and of quality
material, many ordinary people wanted and could afford to buy his cars. He also shorten the workday,
from 9 to 8 hours, and gave workers better pay, a $5.00 wage increase(American). On the other hand,
we see that he felt he knew what was best for people. To make sure workers were living proper
American lives, the Ford Sociological Department, a division of the company used to pry

Indoor Air Quality And Environmental Health Essay
Indoor Air Quality and Environmental Health Indoor air quality (IAQ) refers only to the quality of the
ambient air in an interior environment. On average, people spend well over half of their time inside,
and research has shown that indoor air in buildings can be more contaminated than outdoor air. The
majority of people that work in non industrial buildings such as offices, schools, and hospitals are
exposed daily to poor IAQ. Indoor air pollution (IAP) continually ranks among the top five
environmental risks to public health. Therefore, IAP is a critical factor of the safety and well being of
the population. This paper explores IAP in context, the health risks related to poor air quality, the
burden of disease from household air pollution, guidelines for environmental infection control in
healthcare facilities, and how to improve IAP. Indoor Environmental Quality Indoor environmental
quality (IEQ), comprises the quality of a building s environment concerning the wellbeing and health
of those who occupy the space. Many factors contribute to the IEQ such as air quality, lighting, and
damp conditions. People usually experience symptoms or health conditions from exposures to
contaminants while they are indoor. One of the reasons why IEQ is a primary concern is because some
people that experience symptoms while indoors usually get better when they are not in the building.
Indoor environments are incredibly complex, and building occupants may be exposed to a variety of

Why Youth Do Not Vote
Intro
Youth in industrialized countries currently are more educated than any generation has ever been.
While education levels have risen, the conventional wisdom is that this would cause levels of voter
turnout and party attachment to climb, however, this has not been the case. (Nevitte 1996, 50 51)
Despite the great deal of research on this topic, there is not consensus on the answer to this question.
In these interviews I attempted to look at how different forms of participation were viewed by
members of the LBGTQ+ community, in order to draw some inferences about why youth are less
likely to vote.
Hypothesis
LBGTQ+ students will be less likely to participate in traditional forms of political participation, such
as writing to an MP or becoming active in a Political Party, as a way to address equity issues. Instead
they will be more likely to engage in more grassroots, individual acts of activism.
Case selection
Addressing the question of why youth do not vote is a large task and one that would require much
more than two interviews. I chose to focus down onto the LBGTQ+ community as a most likely case
to find low levels of traditional political involvement and high levels of interpersonal grassroots
activism. Due to social views on being homosexual, gender queer, or transsexual, etc., until quite
recently, the LBGTQ+ community was totally excluded from traditional politics. This total exclusion
from traditional political involvement, means that it is more likely that

Celiac Diseases Research Paper
Celiac disease (CD) and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) is on the rise. Although general
consensus states that the diseases incidence varies greatly, research conducted in the last 30 40 years
contradicts those claims. Yes, the proliferation can be partially credited to increased efficiency in
diagnostic techniques and the mainstream status of the diseases, but the spread of affliction in not only
the US and Europe, but to geographic areas not historically affected by CD and NCGS, is equally
enigmatic. A 2010 cohort study, with data collected since 1974, illustrated that CD increased 5 fold
from 0.2% in 1975 to 1% 25 years later (1). A study in Scotland has marked a 6.4 fold increase

Out of every cereal grain consumed around the world, wheat gluten contains the greatest amounts of
glutamate at 25% by weight (7). Since K. Ikeda s original experiments and T. Hayashi s observations
of glutamate s ability to induce seizure activity upon direct application to the CNS, scientists have
come a long way in the understanding of excito toxins and their roles in food. Glutamate is largely
responsible for wheat s prodigious umami taste, coined by Ikeda in the early 1900s. Umami also gives
substances such as MSG the unique ability to heighten and amplify taste, and is likely the reasoning
behind wheat s popularity and opiate like activity in the brain. Elevated and recurrent dietary

Truthfully speaking, this statement is amongst the strangest and most knowledgeable sentences I have

sentence, I found myself utterly puzzled. I asked myself why a raccoon would eat a sugar cube and
why someone would give it a sugar cube, but I quickly realized the statement was probably
hypothetical. That was until I read the remainder of the article. Turns out that often times raccoons

Why Rollover Occur
Define rollover and discuss what stage of the fire that rollover occurs. In you description make sure
you talk about what conditions must be present for rollover to occur. Rollover is when a fire or flame
front rolls across the ceiling away from the fire. This occurs when fuel and air reach their flammability
which mostly occurs several feet away from main body of the fire. This happens because there isn t
much oxygen above the thermal column of the fire searches for air further away and the combination
with the heat, fuel, air it will create a rollover. The rollover would occur in the growth or fully

For years since the attacks on 9/11, prisoners suspected of terrorist actions have been treated poorly
and taken to bases like Guantanamo Bay where they are interrogated and abused past levels of
legality. This is upsetting how the United States government tortures people only suspected of terrorist
activity. There have been many incidents where innocent people were accused of terrorist activity and
harassed. After the bombing of the Boston Marathon, three innocent muslim men were put in custody
to answer some questions on the bombing (Friedersdorf). The innocent men had done nothing wrong

RSV will usually affect one s upper respiratory tract first before affecting the lower. It is also more
common that this virus will affect someone s upper respiratory rather than the lower respiratory.
Someone with an upper respiratory infection may come across as having the common cold, tonsillitis,
the flu, and etc. The flu is also able to occur in someone who has a lower respiratory tract infection, as
well as, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiolitis, and tuberculosis ( Respiratory Tract Infections, 2014).
RSV is a virus that is hard to diagnosis because the signs and symptoms are a lot like the common
cold. One may start to develop a runny nose or decrease in appetite the first couple of days when
having this virus; but coughing, sneezing, and wheezing may also occur. In young infants, they may
experience irritability or difficulties with breathing ( CDC, 2014). One may have this virus before
realizing the symptoms like a dry cough, low grade fever, sore throat or headache (Mayo Clinic,
1998). Someone with an upper respiratory tract infection may have a fever, headache, sore throat or
wheezing; whereas someone with a lower respiratory tract infection may have a cough, increased
breathing rate, tightness in the chest. While both tract infections should be taken seriously, they both
can lead to RSV.
Bronchitis and Bronchiolitis are also two very serious infections that may lead to RSV.

Apologia In Sports Research Paper
II. Sports and Apologia Commentary Apologia In Sports Commentary #1 Apologia is an incredibly
important field in the media, let alone in sports. A recurring theme in the recent sports culture is the
mistakes of popular athletes. Sports culture has become a huge aspect of our society. As more time
passes, sports become more influential in our communities. It has come to the point where everyone
tunes in or hears about the mishaps of our athletic role model and their public apologies. It seems like
every week there is another tragedy in sports, in the sense that another star athlete has potentially
ruined his career. Every month there are athletes pissing their opportunities away. And people are
always drooling to see what they have to say about it, if they are sorry or that they denial. Although it
is getting more popular now, forms of apologia have been involved in sports ever since sports became
popular. The earliest major form of athletic apologia was the Black Sox scandal. The Black Sox
Scandal has become huge deal in Baseball and all of the major sports. Allegedly, the World Series of

create the National Incident Management System (NIMS) (Homeland Security, 2004). The use of the
Incident Management System and Incident Command System can help respond and manage an attack
of Weapons of Mass Destruction. These systems allow for coordination to be used in a proper and

The Events that Happened on December 13th
This research paper is about the events that happened on December 13th. I will take you through sum
very interesting events that happened on this date, which is also my birthday. Personally I didn t know
that there were events like this that happened on this day. It was very interesting what I learned during
this research project. I will be able to take the knowledge that I absorbed by doing this project with me
through high school, college and eventually a career that fits me.
My first topic is an avalanche that many soldiers died in because they were fighting for their country.
This takes place in the time of WWI. This particular avalanche killed an estimate of 9,000 soldiers
who were in its path. Witnesses say the avalanches were sometimes used as a weapon to kill the
enemies on the mountain, soldiers that survived say the condition on the mountain was worse than the
actual fighting itself. The French and Russians were against the Germans and Austrians. Most of the
battle camps were set up directly under unstable snow, so whoever was in there at the time of the
avalanche, they would have died. Only a few people were found out of thousands of soldiers in the
battles.
Another interesting event was the capturing of Saddam Hussein. Operation Red Dawn was the plan
that the U.S. would try to find and execute Saddam Hussein for good He was raised into a poor family
as a little child by his mother. His first wife, was his first cousin Sajida. Saddam spent many years

Panic Disorder Research Paper
Exploring Panic Disorder
Everyone has experienced moments of severe anxiety and panic in their lives. Stressful situations can
throw our minds into turmoil, causing extreme negative impacts on our bodies. However, there are
people who suffer from moments like these far more often than the average person. These people also
experience panic in situations that would not seem very stressful to others. This type of recurrent,
extreme panic episode is called panic disorder, and it falls under anxiety disorders, a broader category
of mental health issues.
An article by McGrandles and Duffy (2012) describes characteristics of panic disorder as including
recurrent panic attacks that occur suddenly and without warning. These can cause persistent ... Show

This should be the first action taken to attempt to control and treat the disorder. However, in more
severe cases, this simple technique is not enough. Psychological therapy involved in treating panic
disorder focuses on helping the patient modify behaviors and responses to situations that will
ultimately reduce feelings of panic. These types of treatment can involve many sessions with a mental
health professional in order to be successful. For example, McGrandles and Duffy (2012) state there is
a large body of research supporting the use of cognitive behavioral therapy across the spectrum of
anxiety disorders and psychological interventions such as CBT tend to be considered safer than drug
treatments (p. 5). In the event that psychotherapy is not single handedly successful, pharmacological
therapy can come into play. Certain medications can be taken by the patient to help reduce the severity
and frequency of panic attacks. At present there are several different types of drugs which could be
prescribed for the treatment of anxiety such as anti depressants, benzodiazepines and beta blockers
(McGrandles Duffy, p. 6). In the event that medication therapy is used, psychological therapy should
also continue to be used in conjunction. The patient and doctor must work together in order to
determine the best

The World Of Business Is Chiefly Based On The Aspects Of...
Without a doubt, the world of business is chiefly based on the aspects of supply and demand.
Throughout history, a multitude of companies both big and small and offline and online have been
able to grow and spread through providing the best services to customers. In the form of products and
services, various companies have been able to build upon preexisting value ratings while at the same
time using this as a template to help boost more sales down the line. However, as technology changed
so did the power of promotion. For instance, prior to the invention of the radio, many companies had
to rely either upon word of mouth or different forms of advertising through print ads. This was
particularly the key factors that aided in the growth and promotion of companies such as Sears
throughout its creation and development in the late 1880s. In short, with the widespread availability of
traveling through the newly introduced national railroad system, the founders created, passed around,
and mailed their innovative catalogs to help spread word and deliver products to consumers (Brake,
88). Decades later with the invention of the radio, companies increasingly had much more bargaining
power as they could literally speak directly to their audience. A few decades later, this overall level of
marketing grew even more in reference to the actual presentation of products and services with the
invention of the television. For the very first time in history, companies could literally

The importance of positive guidance is to prepare children for adulthood. Through various activities

Organization: I will start my essay by explaining the importance of positive child guidance. Then I

Children are able to learn these principals through modeling, hands on experiences, being scaffold by
a teacher, through observation, role playing, and through individuality. Activities that will teach
children these principals are by doing a puppet play, storytelling with a picture book, singing a number
song, collect rocks to create a mosaic painting, and do gardening to teach children about nature.
Assumptions About the Motives for Young Children s Behaviors: Children behave the way they do
because they want social reinforces such as acceptance, compliments, a pad on the back, rewards,
encouragement, and praise. Children also behave the way they do because they will have time for free
play, and get privileges by behaving well. When children notice positive reinforcements, the child will
continue to display positive behavior and will be able to learn new behaviors. Additionally, children
who tend to cause chaos in a classroom want attention from peers, or teachers. In this case, children
should be taught positive behavior.
Assumptions About What Children Need to Learn to Succeed Later in Life: Children who enter
primary grades should learn to be ethical in order to respect peers, learn to make the right decisions,
be independent, and be caring with peers. They also

Essay on The Pros and Cons of Franchising
Advantages Disadvantages of Franchising
Franchising is a continuing relationship in which the franchisor (the owner of a company) provides a
licensed privilege to the franchisee
(the buyer) to do business and offers assistance in organising, training, merchandising, marketing, and
managing in return for a consideration. It is a form of business by which the franchisor of a product,

As a result, expansion can proceed at a much faster pace than would otherwise be possible, enabling
the franchisor to achieve increased market share whilst benefiting from economies of scale.
(http://www.butterfield.co.za) Finally, franchisors can benefit from the cultural knowledge and know
how of local managers. This can be helpful in lowering the risk of business failure in unfamiliar
markets, as well as creating a competitive advantage.
Franchising offers franchisees the advantage of starting up a new business quickly based on a proven
trademark and way of doing business, as opposed to building a new business from scratch. The
franchised business is based on a proven idea and has an existing customer base, therefore making it
much easier to sell your product than it would if you were to start up your own business. By buying
into a franchise you are gaining the benefit of the franchisors experience as well as the name and
reputation that has already been built up by the franchisor. Therefore it is no wonder that according to
the U.S. Commerce Department, an estimated 95% of franchises succeed, whereas only 25 35% of
independent businesses succeed.
(http://money.howstuffworks.com) It is also not surprising that franchising makes up for about 3.2
percent of all businesses and 35 percent of all retail and service revenue in the United States, proving
that it is big business.
Franchising is very often a wise choice because consumers like

Rhetoric And Rhetoric
There are various models of rhetoric that have been applied in speeches, especially in the political and
social world. For a long time, the world has been exposed to the persuasive model of rhetoric that has
dominated most of the speeches we have had. A different approach to rhetoric has however not
received the attention that it deserves. The rhetoric approach is called invitational model of rhetoric.
The invitational approach promises to bring more impressive and long term results as opposed to the
traditional model of rhetoric. This essay will examine and compare the traditional and the invitational
models of rhetoric.
Traditional Model of Rhetoric
The artifact identified for purposes of this assignment is titled I have a Dream made by Martin Luther
King in August 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. The speech has been identified as a
perfect example of the traditional models of rhetoric that sought to persuade. To understand this
speech completely, it is crucial to understand the setting and the time during which it was made and
who made it. The speech was delivered during the height of the American Civil Rights Movement that
had taken over the whole country. The leader of this movement, civil rights activists Martin Luther
King made the speech in front of a packed crowd that cheered on his every sentence; they wanted to
send a message to the whole of America.
The speech is a good example of a traditional model of rhetoric because of several factors. Firstly,

Gcse Film Techniques
The 2001 Baz Luhrmann Moulin Rouge production is assembled like a bunch frenzied snapshots of
what a drug induced erotic encounter would look like, or what we would imagine it would look like.
The film does not depend on dialogue but on the way you imagine a fantasy from one angle and then

Luhrman uses many different techniques to convey images to his viewers. Examples of these are mise

uses of these together make a fantastic story about love.
Luhrman uses mise en scene to a great effect. A perfect example of this is in the first scene where we

The Infinity Inside By Georg Cantor
Introduction
While perusing certain articles on the news aggregator app Flipboard, I came across a blog post from
the Huffington Post entitled The Infinity Inside. The compelling title gave way to an even more
intriguing body, which referred to infinity not in mathematical terms but as an abstract principle that
governs the universe. This encounter instigated a profound curiosity in me, spurring me to investigate
the concept of infinity further; after searching how large is infinity on the Internet, I discovered a
TedEd video exploring the central question How Big is Infinity? This video introduced me to the idea
that there exist multiple forms of infinity, many of which are actually larger than each other. This

To define infinity, I will first explain the underlying logical framework of Cantor s Infinite Set Theory.
To prove the existence of multiple, larger infinities, I will work through Cantor s Theorem of power

not it is true that all mathematical objects can be arranged in sets.
Basic Concepts of Set Theory
Set theory is considered a fundamental basis of modern mathematics whose notions can be built upon
to form more complex areas of study. A set is simply a collection of objects . These objects are called
members or elements of the set and are governed by well defined membership criteria. In order to
know whether or not an object belongs or does not belong to a set, there must be clear rules that
delineate which objects are acceptable for inclusion. For example, if we had a set of all prime
numbers, the number 4 could not belong to the set as it has more positive divisors than just 1 and itself
it violates the specific criteria for membership in the set.
There are two types of sets as defined by Georg Cantor: finite and infinite. A finite set is simply one
whose size, or cardinality, can be defined by a natural number. Cardinality describes the number of
elements contained in a set. The members of any set (finite or infinite) can be placed in a

Molecules Lab
Measurements of Atoms and Molecules in Solids, Liquids and Gasses Lab Report
Introduction:
Four experiments were conducted in this lab: measurement of atomic size in metal lead and zinc,
finding the packing coefficient using lead shot, measurement of molecule size in water, and
determination of an empty space percentage in gaseous CO2. We performed these experiments with
simple measurement and calculation techniques to estimate the size of atoms and molecules of solids
and liquid, and the empty space percentages of solids, liquids and gases.
Procedure:
Experiment 1: Measurement of atomic size in metal lead and zinc First, the lead cylinder and the zinc
cylinder were weighted and their masses were found. Then 15.0ml of water was added ... Show more

Both models were used for Experiment 1. The spherical atomic model resolved less experimental
error: spherical atomic model for lead has 2.8% experimental error while its cubical atomic model has
8.3% experimental error; the spherical atomic model for zinc has 3.6% experimental error while its
cubical atomic model has 7.1% experimental error. Since the spherical atomic model appealed to be
more accurate in these cases, we chose to use it to estimate the molecular size of water and CO2
molecules in Experiment 3 and 4. The estimated molecular size of water was 2.60*10^( 8) cm, with an
experimental error of 3.17% from its actual molecular size of 2.52*10^( 8) cm. In the case of dry ice,
the experimental molecular size for CO2 was 4.2*10^( 8) cm, with an experimental error of 3.4%
form its actual value 4.06*10^( 8) cm. The experimental percentage of an empty space in a gaseous
CO2 was 99.9%, which was also very close to the actual percentage. This proved that the estimation
methods and experimental procedures that we used were effective. Following them, we were able to
produce very good estimations of atomic and molecular size in solid, liquid and gas, as well as the
percentage of an empty space in CO2

Hail Mary by Tupac Shakur A literary Analysis
Hail Mary by Tupac Shakur A literary Analysis The song Hail Mary by Tupac Shakur has sparked
continued interest and attracted much criticism. Tupac s application of the eternal theme of the
struggle between good and evil to the cycle of prey vs. predator that is showcased in Hail Mary is
unique and incorporates heart, mind, body and soul. Tupac explores the catch 22 of falling prey to evil
if choosing to become a predator in order to survive, and shares the conflicting emotions of many
young African American men who have been born into this. Using metaphors, symbolism, strong
imagery, and oxymorons, Tupac illustrates the ups and downs of the prey vs. predator cycle and
expresses the conflicts that come with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Designing A Successful Training Program
In order to create a successful training program, ConAgra Foods has to have analyzed their
organization, personnel, and tasks to ensure what kind of training is necessary. After, assessing the
organization s needs, it s clear ConAgra Foods main objective for its new training program is to focus
on providing its sales team with new skills; so every one of its salespeople know their product lines
and customers so well they can serve as trusted advisors (Noe et al., 202). This means each employee
needs to be trained in understanding financial data and how sales affect ConAgra s profits. To
accomplish this goal, the company has opened up a system to share training resources in hopes of
meeting each individual s needs. To track employee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, by being able to track progress all the way through the program, a manager can see what
training methods were beneficial and areas which may need to be improved. When developing the
training program, the company planned well for ways to measure the results. This truly gives ConAgra
a competitive advantage over companies who do not evaluate their training methods.
ConAgra decided to expand their training efforts to include the first line supervisors, because these
members may not have had a chance to practice how to become a leader of individuals and teams. The
purpose of the training program was to have its supervisors understand what is involved in being a
leader at ConAgra Foods so their groups can provide better results (Noe et al., 202). To track the
success of the members, employee surveys were used to add feedback and develop new training
procedures where improvement was needed. Overall, the program proved to have decreased employee
turnover. Economically speaking, the results proved to have saved the company roughly $116,100 for
every class of 28 supervisors trained (Noe et al., 202). According to the company website, when
comparing 600 trained and 1,600 untrained supervisors...Those who went through the training also
were nearly twice as likely to be promoted (ConAgra Brands). Clearly, ConAgra s training methods
prove to be beneficial, has helped supervisor succeed and be

  • 2. The Effects Of Nuclear Power On America Nuclear Power in America On Wednesday, March 28, 1979, around 4 a.m., there was a failure in the water pumps at the Three Mile Island in Middletown, Pennsylvania. This led to a partial meltdown of a nuclear power plant. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (now Health and Human Services), the Department of Energy, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania all conducted particular studies of the radiological consequences of the accident. Approximately two million people were estimated to have received an average of one millirem of radiation, and there was a maximum dose to a person who was at the site of 100 millirem ( Backgrounder ). To put this into perspective, an exposure from a single chest X ray is two to six millirem ( Doses ). However, this put fear into the minds of politicians and others all across the country. What the people do not know, though, is nuclear is better. Instead of using fossil fuels and wind power, America ought to switch to nuclear energy to power the country because it is safer, cleaner, less expensive, and more reliable than the current ways of producing energy The United States (U.S.) gets 84% of its total energy from oil, coal, and natural gas, all of which are fossil fuels ( Fossil Fuels. ) And in 2008, 49% of U.S. electricity came from just coal. This is largely due to the abundant supply of coal in the U.S., and it is a relatively inexpensive energy source. However, what are the costs of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper On Plastic Pollution Joshua Oldenkamp Dr.Arturo Vega October 30,2017 Policy Analysis Paper: Introduction: While taking one of my SMC courses at St.Mary s University, my professor began a discussion on plastics pollution and the effects it has on the environment. My professor began to talk more and more about this uncharted territory known as plastic pollution I never knew plastic was so harmful and what it is doing to our environment. What I knew then does not compare to what I know now. Everything that I have included in this research paper stems from what I have learned and the policies we have in the United States, the state of Texas, and the city of San Antonio. Issue Definition: Here I identified the who what when and how and the main issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Solution: would be to either provide incentivized programs and or tax on plastic, or leave everything the way it is. I will attempt to analyze our current use of programs to prevent further plastic pollution the San Antonio area, and whether or not we stay with the status quo, implement buyback programs or tax people who want plastic bags. The defining issue at hand is the increasing plastic presence, the pollution it brings along with, the disposal we provide, or do not provide. Plastic is going to be one of the leading issues in the next few years, right next to climate change. Background: Plastic is made up of carbon, this is a man made product which is specifically from oil. There were other creations before the discovery of plastic, in 1923 it was the Macintosh and rubber, then in 1839 the company Goodyear combined rubber and sulfur creating moldable stable substance, this process is known as vulcanization. In the 1850 s though 1870 s there was the ivory trade and billiard balls, and in 1909 the create of modern plastics, Bakelite. Then in 1930 we created the thermoplastic. There are 7 different type of plastics, polyethylene, polystyrene, polyethylene terephthalate, polyvinyl chloride, polytetrafluorethylene, polyvinylidene, and polypropylene. Polyethylene, is the more commonly found plastic, this is our plastic bags, soda and water bottles, plastic films and their cases, and garbage bags. Polystyrene, in ... Environmental factors such as light, water, temperature, and nutrition all take part in plant growth. But do plants affect each other? If there are three Viola odorata s in a container, then they will grow faster and more efficiently compared to a container holding nine Viola odorata s whereas they would most likely absorb more water and other environmental factors. A Viola odorata is an annual plant that is also known as a sweet violet Wellsiana . These plants naturally complete their life cycles in about the span of one growing season; in which the plant sprouts, grows, flowers, sets seed and then dies. For normal growth plants are in need of these eighteen elements: hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen which are found in air and water. The next six elements are known as macronutrients: nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulfur, and magnesium which are found in soil. The last nine elements are called the micronutrients: iron, zinc, molybdenum, nickel, manganese, boron, copper, cobalt, and chlorine which are found in the soil. All these elements are crucial. Majority of the plants nutrients are dissolved in water and immersed by the roots. Active absorption is important and essential for the plant to grow healthy, but the nutrients can be absorbed passively. Some factors that may affect the absorption of nutrients throughout the roots are the soil pH, type of ion, solubility of ion pairs, oxygen, water, soil, sugar supply, temperature, and plant stress. In conclusion, if a container holds a total of three Viola odorata s and absorb more water and other environmental factors that contribute to plant growth and development, then they will grow faster and more efficiently than a container that carries nine Viola odorata s that will take in less water, sunlight, and nutrients since they are all fighting for it. The fact that all the environmental factors play such a key role in plant growth signifies their importance and the very reason that plants would die without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henry Ford American Experience Analysis When trying to make connections between democracy and capitalism, and how they play a role in our everyday society, looking closely at the emergence of a powerful company can be very informative. Throughout the documentary Henry Ford American Experience, we are introduced to the humble beginnings of the one well known company in today s society, the Ford Motor Company. With the in depth account of the creator himself, Henry Ford and the focus on the labor practices used in his company, one can understand how the establishment came to be. It is said that the modern automobile is mainly credited to the work of the Germans and French during the late 1800s, but America during the early 20th century did have a period of work in the ... The Model T also added great success to the Ford Motor Company. Not only did Ford contribute his automobile, but he introduced ideas like the assembly line and through the popularity of the automobile built up industries like oil and rubber(American). Henry Ford was a man who contributed a lot to the people of his time, but not everyone felt the same way about him. Henry Ford was a man who came from a farming family in Michigan. He felt that the best people were the simple, plain, hard working people (American). In all of his actions, we see him as a man who takes care of those like himself. However, the worst people were those who he felt were in control, in this case, the rich. In his eyes, the common man contributed the most to society. His love for the everyday people fueled his desire to help them live a better life, this can be seen in both positive and negative ways. For one Ford created the Model T to be affordable, at only $850 and of quality material, many ordinary people wanted and could afford to buy his cars. He also shorten the workday, from 9 to 8 hours, and gave workers better pay, a $5.00 wage increase(American). On the other hand, we see that he felt he knew what was best for people. • 9. Indoor Air Quality And Environmental Health Essay Indoor Air Quality and Environmental Health Indoor air quality (IAQ) refers only to the quality of the ambient air in an interior environment. On average, people spend well over half of their time inside, and research has shown that indoor air in buildings can be more contaminated than outdoor air. The majority of people that work in non industrial buildings such as offices, schools, and hospitals are exposed daily to poor IAQ. Indoor air pollution (IAP) continually ranks among the top five environmental risks to public health. Therefore, IAP is a critical factor of the safety and well being of the population. This paper explores IAP in context, the health risks related to poor air quality, the burden of disease from household air pollution, guidelines for environmental infection control in healthcare facilities, and how to improve IAP. Indoor Environmental Quality Indoor environmental quality (IEQ), comprises the quality of a building s environment concerning the wellbeing and health of those who occupy the space. Many factors contribute to the IEQ such as air quality, lighting, and damp conditions. People usually experience symptoms or health conditions from exposures to contaminants while they are indoor. One of the reasons why IEQ is a primary concern is because some people that experience symptoms while indoors usually get better when they are not in the building. Indoor environments are incredibly complex, and building occupants may be exposed to a variety of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Why Youth Do Not Vote Intro Youth in industrialized countries currently are more educated than any generation has ever been. While education levels have risen, the conventional wisdom is that this would cause levels of voter turnout and party attachment to climb, however, this has not been the case. (Nevitte 1996, 50 51) Despite the great deal of research on this topic, there is not consensus on the answer to this question. In these interviews I attempted to look at how different forms of participation were viewed by members of the LBGTQ+ community, in order to draw some inferences about why youth are less likely to vote. Hypothesis LBGTQ+ students will be less likely to participate in traditional forms of political participation, such as writing to an MP or becoming active in a Political Party, as a way to address equity issues. Instead they will be more likely to engage in more grassroots, individual acts of activism. Case selection Addressing the question of why youth do not vote is a large task and one that would require much more than two interviews. I chose to focus down onto the LBGTQ+ community as a most likely case to find low levels of traditional political involvement and high levels of interpersonal grassroots activism. Due to social views on being homosexual, gender queer, or transsexual, etc., until quite recently, the LBGTQ+ community was totally excluded from traditional politics. This total exclusion from traditional political involvement, means that it is more likely that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although general consensus states that the diseases incidence varies greatly, research conducted in the last 30 40 years contradicts those claims. Yes, the proliferation can be partially credited to increased efficiency in diagnostic techniques and the mainstream status of the diseases, but the spread of affliction in not only the US and Europe, but to geographic areas not historically affected by CD and NCGS, is equally enigmatic. A 2010 cohort study, with data collected since 1974, illustrated that CD increased 5 fold from 0.2% in 1975 to 1% 25 years later (1). Glutamate is largely responsible for wheat s prodigious umami taste, coined by Ikeda in the early 1900s. For years since the attacks on 9/11, prisoners suspected of terrorist actions have been treated poorly and taken to bases like Guantanamo Bay where they are interrogated and abused past levels of legality. His sharp and spiky hair stroked a plan tree. He turned around to see a invisible thread on his face. He looked closer, and the sun light reflected of the thread. The thread felt like silk, as he slowly passed through it. In confusion he turned around to see what it really was. He looked around and saw a big black block. The black block had several dots on its face. The long legs swooped down the invincible thread. The boy walked away. His cut pants stroked the ground. The block moved back into the thread. Then he stubbled backwards on his feet. His eyes strained. He stood up slowly, and jumped backwards. He looked at the large block, and then walked away. He again sat down on the beach. The sparkling sand glistened in the sun. The blue tropical ocean had large reefs. The tiny fish swam under the large ocean arks. Blue, red, green, and yellow fish swam past each other grouping as they go. He looked at the tropical paradise. The large island was covered with green. The boy looked to his side. A large cliff hanged over him. A small delta had formed. Wait! Deltas lead to water! he screamed in excitement. He ran towards the delta, and followed it upstream. His enthusiasm slowly faded. Throughout history, a multitude of companies both big and small and offline and online have been able to grow and spread through providing the best services to customers. In the form of products and services, various companies have been able to build upon preexisting value ratings while at the same time using this as a template to help boost more sales down the line. However, as technology changed so did the power of promotion. For instance, prior to the invention of the radio, many companies had to rely either upon word of mouth or different forms of advertising through print ads. This was particularly the key factors that aided in the growth and promotion of companies such as Sears throughout its creation and development in the late 1880s. In short, with the widespread availability of traveling through the newly introduced national railroad system, the founders created, passed around, and mailed their innovative catalogs to help spread word and deliver products to consumers (Brake, 88). Decades later with the invention of the radio, companies increasingly had much more bargaining power as they could literally speak directly to their audience. A few decades later, this overall level of marketing grew even more in reference to the actual presentation of products and services with the invention of the television. It is a form of business by which the franchisor of a product, service, or method obtains distribution through affiliated dealers (franchisees). This can be helpful in lowering the risk of business failure in unfamiliar markets, as well as creating a competitive advantage. Franchising offers franchisees the advantage of starting up a new business quickly based on a proven trademark and way of doing business, as opposed to building a new business from scratch. The franchised business is based on a proven idea and has an existing customer base, therefore making it much easier to sell your product than it would if you were to start up your own business. By buying into a franchise you are gaining the benefit of the franchisors experience as well as the name and reputation that has already been built up by the franchisor. Therefore it is no wonder that according to the U.S. Commerce Department, an estimated 95% of franchises succeed, whereas only 25 35% of independent businesses succeed. The compelling title gave way to an even more intriguing body, which referred to infinity not in mathematical terms but as an abstract principle that governs the universe. This encounter instigated a profound curiosity in me, spurring me to investigate the concept of infinity further; after searching how large is infinity on the Internet, I discovered a TedEd video exploring the central question How Big is Infinity? This video introduced me to the idea that there exist multiple forms of infinity, many of which are actually larger than each other. This prompted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To define infinity, I will first explain the underlying logical framework of Cantor s Infinite Set Theory. To prove the existence of multiple, larger infinities, I will work through Cantor s Theorem of power sets. Through listing, I will also explore the different types of possible infinities and test whether or not it is true that all mathematical objects can be arranged in sets. Basic Concepts of Set Theory Set theory is considered a fundamental basis of modern mathematics whose notions can be built upon to form more complex areas of study. A set is simply a collection of objects . These objects are called members or elements of the set and are governed by well defined membership criteria. In order to know whether or not an object belongs or does not belong to a set, there must be clear rules that delineate which objects are acceptable for inclusion. For example, if we had a set of all prime numbers, the number 4 could not belong to the set as it has more positive divisors than just 1 and itself it violates the specific criteria for membership in the set. There are two types of sets as defined by Georg Cantor: finite and infinite. A finite set is simply one whose size, or cardinality, can be defined by a natural number. Cardinality describes the number of elements contained in a set. The members of any set (finite or infinite) can be placed in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Molecules Lab Measurements of Atoms and Molecules in Solids, Liquids and Gasses Lab Report Introduction: Four experiments were conducted in this lab: measurement of atomic size in metal lead and zinc, finding the packing coefficient using lead shot, measurement of molecule size in water, and determination of an empty space percentage in gaseous CO2. We performed these experiments with simple measurement and calculation techniques to estimate the size of atoms and molecules of solids and liquid, and the empty space percentages of solids, liquids and gases. Procedure: Experiment 1: Measurement of atomic size in metal lead and zinc First, the lead cylinder and the zinc cylinder were weighted and their masses were found. Then 15.0ml of water was added ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both models were used for Experiment 1. The spherical atomic model resolved less experimental error: spherical atomic model for lead has 2.8% experimental error while its cubical atomic model has 8.3% experimental error; the spherical atomic model for zinc has 3.6% experimental error while its cubical atomic model has 7.1% experimental error. Since the spherical atomic model appealed to be more accurate in these cases, we chose to use it to estimate the molecular size of water and CO2 molecules in Experiment 3 and 4. The estimated molecular size of water was 2.60*10^( 8) cm, with an experimental error of 3.17% from its actual molecular size of 2.52*10^( 8) cm. In the case of dry ice, the experimental molecular size for CO2 was 4.2*10^( 8) cm, with an experimental error of 3.4% form its actual value 4.06*10^( 8) cm. The experimental percentage of an empty space in a gaseous CO2 was 99.9%, which was also very close to the actual percentage. This proved that the estimation methods and experimental procedures that we used were effective.
