Sex As A Political Condition
Award winning professor Carlos Nicolas Flores has put a new perspective in a life of a Mexican
American. The El Paso native has had a successful career as a professor and author, he s well known
for Our House on Hueco, but he s been recently getting more attention with his lascivious novel: Sex
as a Political Condition: A Border Novel. This said novel has placed him in the spotlight as he
acquires more interviews and reviews about the book he further discloses information about himself.
The interviews and reviews expose essential parts of his life as well as mixed reactions for Sex as a
Political Condition: A Border Novel. Author Joseph Green s put it best: It is revolutionary in spirit and
inelegant in ethos, equal parts hilarious, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, his travels to Mexico and all over the world have made him a very cultured man, and
given inspiration for many of his novels.
Sex as a Political Condition: a Border Novel has been a raw, refreshing book. The first chapter of the
novel takes place in a barrio in the border town of Escandon, Texas. The novel starts off with the
narrator and protagonist, Honore Del Castillo, imagining about Cuba s most important hero, Jose
Marti. In this chapter we see that Honore tries to desperately change his life for the better, considering
the neurotic fear he has with the possibility of dying without a purpose or making any sort of
difference. This results in the narrator wanting/becoming an activist just like Trotsky, a war veteran
that saved his life. Therefore, he accepts all types of odd jobs Trotsky asks him to do like giving a
priest a ride to the bus station or airport across the river in Nuevo Escandon, Mexico. But his wife,
Maruca, isn t really fond of Trotsky and is always asking Honore to cool it with him. Comparatively,
in Honore s eyes Trotsky saved him from a life of drug dealing. Before he met Trotsky, Honore used
to smuggle dope with his puro carbon neighbor, Tequila Cuervo, and is constantly bothered by this
pendejo. He refuses to go back to pot, coke,

A Summary Of Absolute Space
I. Absolute Space
O Connor complained that stories written by Southerners had been influenced by Television. She
stated that Southern identity is no clichĂŠ. The difference that French Marxist cultural critic, Henri
Lefebvre makes between absolute and abstract spatiality s is one that clarifies the conflicts in A Good
Man is Hard to Find . He said that these spaces are categorized by their relationship (Link 125). One
may say that through the eyes of Lefebvre, one can see the spaces of A Good Man Is Hard to Find in a
way that relinquishes, diminishing them to the basic constraint of sanctified, regular spaces of beauty,
from one viewpoint, and mischievous spaces of current capital on the other. The capacity of this
nonexistent structure to uncover the subtle elements of O Connor s spatial talk, and to do as such with
regards to the abstracting energy of capital, makes it a profitable supplement to exchanges of her
utilization of space. The short story stated that absolute space is made up on Christian fragments of
nature (Link 126) existing outside of capitalist relations. Link stated that absolute space is ruled by
natural methods such as traditional agrarianism and cultural revealing frameworks grounded in
religious acceptance. Link specified that Absolute space isn t greater than abstract space.
II. Abstract Space
The article states that Theoretical space is the result of a homogenizing power that motive is to make
space see through and readable leaving no space for outside voices. The abstraction in the story
reduces landscape by separating it from grace. Lefebvre writes Excess, or the incommunicable has no
existence in totalizing abstract space (Link 126). Link stated that this residue which remains opaque
the transparency of abstract inscriptions of space, is represented by The Misfit, who could be reduced
neither to a sentimental good man nor to an obscene killer(Link 126). The story states the misfit is in
his correct place only when the abstract place means containment such as prison. Stone mountain was
the first landmark that the family passed on their trip. Stone monument was known as a failed
monument.
III. Abstract Spatiality
The short story explained that the Grandmother brought

The Industrial Revolution Of The Middle East
For millennia mankind has exhausted endless amounts of energy contemplating the eternally
complicated system of war. From Gangas Khan to America s involvement in the Middle East, all
successful generals, military leaders, and conquerors have found commonality in their zealous
emphasis on, and desire for, possessing the most technologically advanced forms of weaponry. Such a
desire was not ignored in America nor England during the Industrial Revolution, but, rather, was seen
by many as an opportune investment during a time of extraordinarily progressive innovation. With this
in mind the Industrial Revolution became heavily involved with the advancement of weaponry,
forever changing the face of war unlike any era before it.
The industrial revolution was a time of great change for both Europe and America. Inventions during
this time (such as the cotton gin, the steam engine, sewing machine) stemmed from a seemingly never
ending flow of revelation in thought. Thus, paving the way for a more advanced and technological
society. This was a time of great accomplishment. With the drastic advancement of economic and
technological innovation came the traumatic realization of necessary social adaptation; a change that
did not come easy for such a progressive society. The upper class became more wealthy as the number
of impoverished citizens increased.
Britain set an appropriate stage for the industrial revolution to take place. Britain was a politically
stable society and was the

Measure Of Income Inequality
In the past 20 years income inequality has become a major issue in particular within the United States
(US) where a significant income gap has occurred. This is exemplified by the US Gini index (GI), a
measure of income inequality, which has risen from 43 in 1990 to around 47 in 2010 and is continuing
to trend upward (David Moss, 2011). This has now become a problem that both develop and
developing nations face. The main causes being globalization and technology. In developed countries
globalization has increased cheap foreign imports with technology making importing extremely cost
efficient. There s also the outsourcing or the replacement of low skill jobs with newer technology.
These two processes have contributed to higher profits for executives while low skill workers are
losing their jobs by the thousands. In developing countries globalization has led to low skill workers
having to compete in cheap labor markets dropping their wages even further. Technology in these
developing countries has also increased income inequality with their lower class unable even be
literate enough to learn newer technology. Therefore, inequality damages economies and workforces

This is a greater concern in world as sectors such as Africa, where poverty has roughly doubled in
recent years. Consequently, many of the extreme poverty rates where based on a $1.25 purchasing
power a day cut off. If this number is adjusted in 2005 to just $2.00 a day the rate of people living in
extreme poverty jumps to 51% (David Moss, 2011). These numbers show that billions of people are
unable provide themselves with basics like food, clothing, or shelter. This is a serious problem as these
are people who have potential are being left in poverty that kills. At the very least income inequality
leaves people with basic necessities with a chance to

Direct Democracy Vs Representative Democracy Essay
Direct Democracy vs Representative Democracy
The term Democracy is derived from two Greek words, demos, meaning people, and kratos, meaning
rule. These two words form the word democracy which means rule by the people. Aristotle, and other
ancient Greek political philosophers, used the phrase, `the governors are to be the governed , or as we
have come to know it, `rule and be ruled in turn .
The two major types of democracy are Representative Democracy and Direct
Democracy. Clearly the arguments for and against each form of democracy are plentiful. However, it
is my belief that theoretically, Direct Democracy is the superior form of political rule. Due to
problems with in the direct democratic system, its use as a practical ... Show more content on

It is not even thinkable that all citizens will agree on what good is. Rousseau recognized this and
accepted a term of majority rule. Those who voted against a policy which is found to be the best for
the general, must have been thinking of personal gains, rather than the gains of the entire society.
The feature which distinguishes direct democracy from other forms of government is the idea of
agreement and the key to agreement is discussion. It is impossible to reach an agreement without
discussion, because it is not right to think that everybody will have the same opinion on all matters.
But, it is very possible, that through discussion an agreement could be reached by all members.
Representation, on the other hand allows a select few to make decisions in their own best interest,
which is not necessarily the best interest of the society.
However, direct democracy is not the perfect method to produce a union of the community. For a
direct democracy to work, face to face communication between all members of the community is
needed. The only way this is possible is to meet in large groups. Due to the fear of high tension, many
citizens
will not participate in these large group meeting. So in order for these fearful people to voice their
opinions they must get together in smaller, less tensions groups, where they are not as timid to say as
they wish to see happen.
A direct democracy can only work in a small group, so as a form of government for an

The Stimulus Of The Words
In Jabberwocky the stimulus of the words in context activates thought and the ability to recognize
known structures in memory. The context and the placement of the words in sentences allow us to
make assumptions about grammatical structure. We determine how a particular word functions in that
sentence, i.e., an adjective, verb, adverb, etc. And the words placement within the sentence helps to
reveal meaning. ( Sukar Ray ) Lewis Carroll makes up words that tell a story, when strewn together in
patterns that mimic known grammatical structures. Here, no one to one relationship between word and
referent exists in the world, but it very much feels as if it does because of the context in which the
poem is set. It is also an example of how closely related the concept of musical metaphor is with
poetic metaphor. In his book Bernstein describes the three metaphors used in music: As concisely as
possible, this is it: music has intrinsic meaning of its own, which are not to be confused with specific
feelings or moods, and certainly not with pictorial impressions or stories. These intrinsic musical
meanings are generated by a constant stream of metaphors, all of which are forms of poetic
transformations. (131) Bernstein seeks to prove that music has intrinsic, extrinsic and analogical
meaning much the same way language does for non musical meanings. But the exploration can be
turned inside out so that we might say that Carroll in his quirky sounds and made up strange

Mark Twain- American Author
Some of the most riveting books in not just American literature but in all of history, was written by
this famous author. Twain, an American writer, is one of the major authors of American fiction. Also,
he is considered the greatest humorist in American literature (Alan Gribben, np). Mark Twain was
influenced by the society s conditions he lived in, hence the incorporation of much of it in his writing.
Growing up in the 1870s, Twain s society was much different than growing up now. He grew up
during the outbreak of the civil war and he lived during the time of major cynical political corruption
that began in the late 1860s all the way to 1900. He was also raised during a time where slave holding
was acceptable, and encouraged. Under his father s influence, he was told that slavery was justified
through biblical principles. The majority of people in Hannibal, where Twain grew up, thought this
and was the reason why everyone was proslavery. The local pulpit taught us that God approved it, that
it was a holy thing and that the doubter need only look in the Bible if he wished to settle his mind and
then the texts were read aloud to us to make the matter sure; if the slaves themselves had an aversion
to slavery, they were wise and said nothing... (Twain 212 ) This quote portrayed how the people Twain
grew up with encouraged slavery because it was accepted by God. However, even though Twain grew
up in this condition he was never a supporter of slavery or racism. This point

Food Wasting In America Essay
When I was little I was never able to finish my food, and my mom would always tell me that I should
always finish my food because not everybody has a chance to eat. Food wasting in america is well
talked about problem with $165 million dollars worth of food is being wasted every year. Food
wasting in america can be caused by many things, but three main reasons are overstocking their
produce, misconceptions with the due date, and business. Many businesses waste food especially by
overstocking. In farmer s markets many farmers overstock their crates with produce to have appeal to
the buyers. Delaney Zayac gives us an example that if he would have sold more chard if people saw
more of it in the crate compared to seeing only some (Last Week Tonight). This is because many
people have the assumption that if it s the last one there must be something wrong with it. With that
being the case many farmers overstock produce so that it takes away that assumption and people
would buy their product. But overstocking also causes food waste, with farmers overstocking their
produce to make it look appealing to buyers they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harold McClarty, the owner of HMC farms, say Getting into the hands of somebody to eat it isn t

their produce as a way to save money, because in order to send it to food banks they would have to
box it and ship it over to them which costs them resources compared to throwing it away which is a lot
faster and at little to no cost at all. Businesses aren t given any incentive to donate their food so if they
re not receiving any benefit to donate food to food banks then there s no reason for them to donate at

Google, Its Mission, And Its Business Model Essay
Briefly describe Google, its mission, and its business model.
Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Bin. Founders Page and Bin met at Stanford
University in 1995. By 1996 they built a search engine (initially called BackRub) that used links to
determine the importance of individual web pages. Google Inc. was born in 1998, when Sun co
founder Andy Bechtolsheim wrote a check for $100,000 to that entity which until then didn t exist.
Since the start, they ve focused on providing the best user experience possible. Google is a web search
engine owned by Google Inc. Google the most used search engine on the World Wide Web handling
billions of customers every day. Google Search provides several features beyond searching for words.
These include time zones, stock quotes, maps, weather forecasts, and sports scores. Google s mission
is to organize the world s material and make it reachable and useful. Google founders are into building
a business model based on a way of monetizing an activity for which we had been only too happy to
stop paying. It is this monetization of dangling value that enables a business to sustain itself, compete
for market share, and grow. They found a way to be a sole provider of something else in value chain
that met its consumer needs. Google generated about $21 billion in revenue last year. The other side of
Google s hugely successful business plan is innovation.

Assessing Aphasia Within The Constructs Of The Who Icf Model
Assessing Aphasia within the Constructs of the WHO ICF Model
Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers
throughout the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology,
and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification of
Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International Classification of
Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
2012), and then fully published it in 2001 under its current title. In what was considered a radical shift
of focus from the cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the disease or disorder (World
Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of ability versus disability.
Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To
accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components related to health. These
components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body
functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d)
participation (involvement in life situations) with additional consideration for the interdependence and
impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal factors (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). The three
aspects of (a)

How Is Victoria Woodhull Blood Martin Successful
Victoria Claflin Woodhull Blood Martin, Victoria Woodhull for short, started out as a young girl with
very little, who wanted much. She is most well known for being the first woman to ever run for
President of the United States of America. As well as being a Presidential canidate for the 1872
election, she was also a women s rights leader, a businesswoman, and a medium. She lived a very
controversial life, from being the breadwinner of her family, to being thrown in jail. She was a radical
reformer, she believed in self governing, and that all women have the right to choose what s best for
them, and in some cases, if that meant being a prostitute, then that was perfectly fine. Victoria was a
fire cracker. She became very involved in everything she believed in. In this paper I intend to
summarize breifly the life of Victoria Woodhull, while also discussing her views on self governing, the
impact she made on the women s suffrage movement, and also the obstacles she encountered through
this turmoilous journey.
Victoria Claflin was born September 23, 1838 in Homer, Ohio. She was the daughter of Buck Claflin
and Anna Claflin. In her later years she had painted her childhood as white picket fence, perfect home,
but, in reality it was far from it. Her dad was the town s crook, and her mother was looked at
differently because of her ability to speak with spirits, a talent that Victoria found she also had. From a
young age she possessed great leadership skills. Her nickname was the

Taking a Look at Illegal Software
I think, if you say that I have not ever got involved theft, you should think once more. You know,
nowadays, all people can use the Internet easily. Especially, we dowload a lot of programs from the
Internet. When we click on a site for dowloading programs, you can see so much advertisements
which have free programs. However, there is someone who endeovors for these programs. In our day
which nobody gives a thing nearly without expecting something in return, do you think that these
programs are free? Certainly,it is not. It must be a provision of these services because engineers who
design a software may spend months. But some of people sell these labours at own site by stealing. Of
course, they are thieves, however who are we using these illegal programs? Most often,
unconsciously, we may be included to this crime. However, this does not change our offence. In fact,
using illegal software damages in three different ways. These are damages which are doing to person
by oneself , are doing to the goverment budget, anda re penalties.
Firstly, I want to explain damage which offender do on one s own. Illegal programs are dowloaded for
cheap, however we have to spend more our corrupted computer when we dowload these programs.
Because softwares which are bought are harmful for computer, also they may include virus. Therefore,
suddenly, you may be faced with erased files which are important for you. For instance, you prepare a
lot of files for important meeting for days.

The, Dog And Cat And Coffee And Tea Great Gatsby And...
Introvert Dog and Cat. Coffee and Tea. Great Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye. Everyone knows there
are two types of people in the world. What are they? . This question is quite easy to answer and refers
to human behavioural quirks and nature, Introverts and Extroverts. Surrounding the two vague types
are many stereotypes, but this will be addressing and explaining what it truly means to be an Introvert.
Introverts are typically more complex characters as a whole compared to Extroverts, the dynamics
between the two already a major difference. When a person hears Introvert they think Alone , Hates
People , Pessimist and Boring , whilst thinking Extroverts, on the other hand, as Happy , Friendly ,
Optimists , and Fun two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But when Introverts give themselves permission to seek the solitude they crave, life becomes lighter
and better. Social situations are more bearable. Even small talk is easier to endure when they ve
fortified themselves with solitude. Introverts are known for being quiet, another universal quirk.
Introverts are written economists suffering in a world of verbal hodgepodge. Unfortunately, this has
lead to awkward confrontations like Are you shy? or Why are you so quiet? . Now it s time to debunk
the typical Introvert myths. The most common one is that being Introverted means you re shy, and
often use the two words interchangeably. Both introverts and shy people tend to avoid socializing at
times, but they do so for different reasons. Introverts often stay on the sidelines at social events
because socializing drains their energy, whilst shy people tend to avoid going to unnecessary social
events at all because of their fear of the unknown. Instead of worrying about being drained, they re
concerned about making a mess of themselves or being rejected / judged. The next most common is
that Introverts are socially awkward. People assume that because you are Introverted, you don t know
how to behave or act socially. Many introverts have superior social skills. They are confident,
assertive, and interesting to talk to. People don t realize this because they assume everyone with good
social skills is an extrovert.

Kasushika Hokusai Analysis
Term Essay #1
Katsushika Hokusai is a Japanese artist that likes to stretch your imagination, in both artworks it s
almost as he s indulging into these wild fantasies. As if he s trying to tell a crazy adventure from his
point of view. I particularly enjoy these artworks because it displays the courage in obstacles to face
much greater than himself, or in this case nature. Katsushika Hokusai creates a sense as if we were all
children again, with an imagination where we can hear, play and see natural environments from a new
perspective.
My choices on non western art I selected were both pieces by Katsushika Hokusai. The first called
Kanagawa Oki Nami Ura from 36 Views of Fuji made in the 18th 19th century. My second piece
called Kiso, Amida From Waterfall Series made in the 18th 19th century. In comparison to Katsushika
Hokusai two artworks both are woodblock prints, we see many characteristics that relate to each other
in a natural environment because Katsushika Hokusai was one of the first artist to introduce landscape
in his prints. Both pieces have mountains within the pictures, which is a major landmark in Japanese
natural landscapes. They both have strong repeating patterns that create a sense of rhythm that helps
organize the viewer s eye. Both artworks have these elements in their painting that gives you a sense
of rhythm and harmony. Both artworks provide so much contrast, the hard impact of blues set against
the soft sky and the starling white waterfall.

The Importance Of Graduated Driver s License
Did you know that each year, car accidents result in more teen deaths than any other cause? There is a
way to prevent this and that is to institute the Graduated Driver s License (GDL) in all states. This
would help by allowing teens to earn driving privileges gradually. Instituting the Graduate Driver s
License will reduce traffic deaths among teens, and also gives teens the driving experience they need
to operate a vehicle responsibly.
A graduated driver s license allows teens to earn driving privileges gradually, rather than all at once.
The text states, For instance, some GDLs allow 16 year olds to drive only during certain daylight
hours; others require them to drive with an adult for a set number of hours before receiving a license.
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author states, According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, states using GDLs
have a 5 to 15 percent drop in teen accidents. States that are using the graduate license have less teen
caused accidents than states that do not use the GDL. These statistics prove that the GDL can and will
work for those who choose to enforce it, and will lessen the amount of teen accident fatalities in the
state.
With a graduated license, teens will earn the experience they need to become skilled drivers.
According to the text, Studies show that it is inexperience, not age, that causes accidents. Think about
it: could changing the age from 16 to 18 really prevent accidents or just put more inexperienced adults
on the roads? Teens make up 7 percent of all drivers, but are involved in 20 percent of all accidents.
The reason being is that many teens do not have the road experience necessary to make safe driving
decisions.
The GDL is the best option for teen drivers, giving them safer a driving experience. Raising the
driving age will not change anything regarding teen traffic accidents; it would only take away driving
privileges from teens who are obeying the driving rules. The Graduated Driver s License will be more
successful in decreasing teen car accidents and ensuring the safety of these new drivers on America s

Geert Hofstede Cultural Perspective Theory
Geert Hofstede theorized the Cultural Dimensions theory, which allows categorisation of countries or
societies into different dimensions, explaining the effects of a society s culture on the values of its
population. (Hofstede, G. 2009) The dimensions are as follows power distance, uncertainty avoidance,
individualism vs. collectivism, masculine vs feminine, and long term or short term orientation. By
focusing on the individualist vs. collectivist dimension, the impact of geographical location on suicide
rates could potentially be explained.
Members of individualistic cultures place an emphasis personal rights, innovation, and self expression.
Individualistic cultures tend to focus more on themselves rather than groups of people and prioritize
their own personal gains and achievements. Independence is valued; there is less importance is placed
on helping other citizens of the community than in collectivistic societies. Countries such as the
United States, United Kingdom, and Australia are examples of individualistic cultures. In contrast,
collectivistic cultures place an emphasis on collaboration, shared interests and harmony, and focus on
loyalty and cooperation. Collectivist cultures therefore tend to value group efforts over an individual s,
and each person is encouraged to be an active person in society. Southeast Asia, South and Central ...

English for Academic Purpose (EAP) has become an expanding discipline in higher education

Dangers Of Speeding
Nearly every driver is aware that speeding is dangerous. They are taught this fact in their driver s
education course before getting their license and have doubtless heard plenty of public safety
messages stating this. Yet, they continue to speed and contribute to the yearly carnage of speeding
related fatalities. Why do they do this? As it turns out, there is no one single reason. Here are six
common reasons why people speed:
Familiarity. When a person drives the same route to and from work for years, he knows every curve
and intersection like the back of his hand. This ability to anticipate his commute route combined with
a muscle memory of the maneuvers he always makes, causes him to drive faster. Familiarity also
breeds confidence which

Epic Hero Journey
The Journey of Epic Heroes Every epic hero is the personification of goodness and strength. Similar to
Odysseus in The Odyssey and the Iliad, he is fighting for his people and for good. An epic hero is not
just someone who has heroic characteristics, but also someone who embodies the goodness and virtues
of their writers time and society. In the modern era they are mainly characters with crazy powers and
stories. However, not in the past where heroes were people who fought for their writers country or for
glory. The heroes were not merely people of great virtue and honor, but also people that the youth of
their nation looked to as heroes and legends. In the past 50 years to present day, in culture, heroes are
separate from legends, they are strictly for entertainment unlike legends, which are more
mythological. Superman, Captain America, and John F. Kennedy all have similar traits to epic heroes,
such as Odysseus, due to their compassion and perseverance through long journeys. ... Show more

Examples Of Resistance To Government In The 1770s
Prologue: A Revolutionary People
1. What sorts of resistance to government occurred in Massachusetts in the 1770s? Compare this

what ways do they differ?
In the 1770s, several different types of government resistance occurred, one of the most well known
being the Boston Tea Party, but this is not the only example of resistance that occurred in
Massachusetts during this time. After British Parliament passed the Massachusetts Government Act,
which handed the judicial system over to the Royal Government, thousands of men, called Liberty

Similarities Between The Giver And Harrison Bergeron
Throughout the texts, The Giver by Lois Lowry and Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., both
communities are striving toward total equality among the people. These two texts share many
similarities and differences. For example, Jonas decides to run away from his community with the
memories given to him. Similarly, in Harrison Bergeron , Harrison lost his temper over his community
and disobeyed the rules, resulting in him having more strength than others. When Harrison was not
pleased by the way he was treated, [He] tore the straps of his handicap harness like wet tissue paper

change the community. In addition, during both texts the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in The Giver, people are stripped from their emotions and feelings. In the passage, Jonas
father states, Even I voted for Gabriel s release when we had the meeting this afternoon (154). This

baby. However, in Harrison Bergeron , people have emotions but everyone s intelligence level and
physical ability are indistinguishable. For instance, in Harrison Bergeron , George was buzzed with a
sound, His thoughts fled in panic, like bandits from a burglar alarm (1). This proves that people who
are more intelligent than others are buzzed making them forget their thoughts, and as a result capping
their intellect to match everyone else in the community. This is different than The Giver because in
The Giver, people are allowed to use their intellect, but instead, they have no emotions or feelings. In
addition, The Giver s community makes the community feel like everything is perfect and safe. This
differs from the story, Harrison Bergeron , where the society is purposefully depressing and strict in an

This could potentially lead to friction in the workplace. Tensions could arise around suspected free
riders or poorly performing employees, which would prevent the team from making their quota and or
receiving the reward. However, Paul must first research the legality of measuring a particular variable
and ensure that the minimum pay is compliant with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the
Equal Pay Act (EPA).
Pay rates must be compliant with the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007, as well as the overreaching
rules of the FLSA, where the current minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. To maintain compliance,
Plastec must demonstrate that the combined base salary and average variable salary amounts equal the
minimum wage (Mathis, Jackson, Valentine, p371). Additionally, the company must be cognizant of
the factors determining over time compensation and properly classify employees under FLSA. Plastec
might want to offer a base salary plus commission; however, this type of variable salary is not
available for many employees due to FLSA standards for determining exempt or non exempt status. In
a situation like Plastec s where they are working with hourly wage employees who are non exempt,
they will have to determine a fair hourly rate and pay overtime for employees in addition to any
incentive pay for production. This is where employers are at the greatest risk for abuse. Hourly
employees need to be monitored to ensure that the additional production is happening during

Training Managers to Improve Employee Retention
Training Managers to Improve Employee Retention
The goal of virtually every business operating today is essentially the same: to make money. When it
comes to the fine art of turning a profit, there are as many different factors that influence whether or
not a company makes money as there are ways to make it. All successful companies begin by hiring
people who best fit the position, and in the modern day world of business, a considerable amount of
time, effort, or money is invested in this endeavor. Once a stellar candidate has been hired, however, it
does the company no good if, six months down the road, they quit because the working environment

Employees were asked to rank certain aspects of their jobs from 1 to 10 by importance. Managers
were then asked to rank the same job aspects according to what they thought was most important to
their employees. The results show that discrepancies between manager opinion and employee fact
have existed for decades (Employee Retention Headquarters, 2001).
Tools of the Training Trade
Clearly, there is a need for managers to become more involved in retention, and fortunately there is
hope for companies that are struggling with high rates of turnover related to management problems. A
variety of organizations offer training that is designed to help managers perform better, in the form of
seminars, multimedia training presentations, and in house training programs, to name a few. Some
companies also offer training that can be done exclusively online, mitigating such costs as travel,
lodging, lost productivity, and other expenses that are inherent in sending employees away to a
training seminar. Management training can also be tailored to meet the specific needs of a business to
maximize its benefits. Federal Express, the global shipping company, found that training oriented
toward empowering their front line managers to meet the needs of subordinates themselves without
turning to the HR department, best meshed with the business model of their operations in Asia.

Essay ROME IN THE AUGUSTINIAN AGE
30 BC ~ Octavian was given the title of Imperator, and was used in the Eastern provinces. Imperium
suggests unlimited imperium (or power) (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) This was the first of many
titles that were to be given to Octavian after his defeat of Mark Antony in 31 BC at the Battle of
Actium. It indicates that the provinces thought Octavian was worthy of being honoured, and that the
power he possessed at the time should remain. Therefore making it the first factor that led to the rise
of Octavian.

Therefore, although Dio Cassius was writing approximately two centuries after the events, it would
have been possible for him to have quoted direct speeches made by Octavian. Dio Cassius context also
needs to be taken into account. He was a Senator, consul and proconsul himself, and was therefore,
like most ancient Roman historians, an elite male, writing about an elite male, for other elite males.
Octavian himself does not clearly state whether or not the transfer took place at one point, or over an
extended period of time in a series of steps (as is the belief of some historians), I transferred the
republic from my power to the dominion of the Senate and people of Rome. (Res Gestae Divi August)
caution needs to be taken when assessing this source as it is Octavian s own account of what
happened, and so is obviously extremely biased, aiming to portray himself and his achievements as he
wanted them to be remembered. Regardless of the time period the significance of Octavian s actions
are clear. He gave up his powers and returned absolute authority in the provinces as well as his control
of the legions that were sanctioned there. (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) This was significant as
these legions had been the basis of his power. As Eck highlights in his The Age of Augustus Octavian
theoretically gave up his authority, but in reality the Senate and people of Rome had little power as
they lacked the ability to initiate

New And Alternative Sources Of Energy
Today s society uses enormous amounts of energy. *The shadow of our presence on this planet is a
result of generations upon generations of production and utilization of energy*. New and alternative
sources of energy are being developed to replace the declining accessibility of coal and fossil fuels.
Use of renewable energy is a key component in combatting the climate change that has become a
major issue in the 21st century. Reducing our impact on the climate as a result of greenhouse gas
emissions will not only benefit our generation, but countless generations after us. This technology is
not only affordable, but is within reach. With the ever increasing population of 255 global births per
minute ( How Many Babies... ) the demand for energy grows substantially each day. There are many
different sources of energy that are naturally available throughout the world in different forms. This
energy can be categorized into two main sources: 1) renewable and 2) non renewable sources. Energy
sources are considered non renewable if they cannot be replenished or made again in a short period of
time. Non renewable sources come out of the ground as liquids, gases and solids ( Nonrenewable ).
Non renewable sources are limited, not environmentally friendly when being extracted from the
ground or when being used. They can also be a direct cause of inflation in the economy due to
increases and decreases in production. Renewable sources are generated from natural resources that

Toxic Leadership in Law Enforcement Essay
Abstract Toxic leadership, likely found in all agencies at some point, and the general awareness of
toxic leaders with whom individual officers have worked, makes this a real problem for law
enforcement agencies. Knowing the root and cause of this type of leadership helps develop
understanding on the part of those that can effect a change in leadership within an agency.
Comprehending the methods by which such environments develop and their negative impact on the
agency as a whole via individual officers experiences, opens the doors on hidden collusion that

issues (Wilson Starks, 2003, p. 3). While the toxic leader may, at first glance, appear to be a
productive member of the agency, due to his/her own self promotion, the agency and subordinate
officers lose ground through the toxic leader s efforts to control.
Turf Building Turf building is the act of creating an area within the assigned work profile viewed as
belonging to the toxic leader. By controlling access to information and tools, by selected subordinates
and other supervisors, the toxic leader creates an area where only he/she can succeed. Such actions are
undertaken for the sole purpose of self aggrandizement on the part of the person in charge; with the
desired result that they are seen as the keeper of the knowledge or the solver of the problem.
Consequently, this often creates an impression with the leader s supervisors that he/she is the
irreplaceable element, or the go to guy and can be justifiably depended upon to handle this area, thus
creating an agency sponsored sense of expertise. Furthermore, this confirms to the toxic leader that the
path they have chosen, and the method they have employed is the best choice; thus, actions taken in
self interest are now perceived by the toxic leader as serving the interest of the agency.

When people talk about the events in the space race, the first thing they often talk about is Neil

Interplay Between Human Laws And Divine Laws In Antigone...
In Sophocles s Antigone, one of the central storylines situates on interplay between human laws and
divine laws. Although divine characters do not directly appear in the play, their rules and regulations
soundly affect characters behaviors. This is clear throughout the play. The expressions of the
characters in the play, as well as the thematic ending of the play that featured the realization of King
Creon over his decisions against divine laws requiring every deserving man s burial, apparently
demonstrate divines superior status to humans. However, divines are not able to reverse the damages
done by human transgressions. In the play, divine s presence is evident. The play starts with Antigone,
malicious late king Oedipus s daughter, agonizing over the death Polynices and Etocles, Antigone s
brothers, after a bloody civil war over Oedipus s succession to her sister Ismane. In her agony,
Antigone describes the bloody civil war as the final penalty to Zeus for Oedipus (1 10) with shame
and dishonor , and Zeus is the master behind Oedipus s downfall and the plague against her family.
Since Etocles is seen as the ruler of the city, his successor Creon decrees that no one shall bury
Polynices. Loving his brother, Antigone decides to go against Creon s decree and bury his brother,
calling not burying Polynices an insult to what the gods believe everyone deserves a proper burial (49

Response To Lee Lewis Play Oedipus
To Lee Lewis, the most important aspect of theatre is the message the writers are trying to put across
to the audience. In order for that message to be heard, there can t be any sense of the director present,
nor the actors behind the characters, as she quotes If the directors hand is to visible in a work then that
s a failure to me (AustralianPlays.org 2014). This message from the writers is so powerful because it
conveys present issues and thoughts, which is why she is so interested in directing new work . You can

that is his choice, it is not a mistake, instead of using the actors as characters he tends to use them as

  • 2. Sex As A Political Condition Award winning professor Carlos Nicolas Flores has put a new perspective in a life of a Mexican American. The El Paso native has had a successful career as a professor and author, he s well known for Our House on Hueco, but he s been recently getting more attention with his lascivious novel: Sex as a Political Condition: A Border Novel. This said novel has placed him in the spotlight as he acquires more interviews and reviews about the book he further discloses information about himself. The interviews and reviews expose essential parts of his life as well as mixed reactions for Sex as a Political Condition: A Border Novel. Author Joseph Green s put it best: It is revolutionary in spirit and inelegant in ethos, equal parts hilarious, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, his travels to Mexico and all over the world have made him a very cultured man, and given inspiration for many of his novels. Sex as a Political Condition: a Border Novel has been a raw, refreshing book. The first chapter of the novel takes place in a barrio in the border town of Escandon, Texas. The novel starts off with the narrator and protagonist, Honore Del Castillo, imagining about Cuba s most important hero, Jose Marti. In this chapter we see that Honore tries to desperately change his life for the better, considering the neurotic fear he has with the possibility of dying without a purpose or making any sort of difference. This results in the narrator wanting/becoming an activist just like Trotsky, a war veteran that saved his life. Therefore, he accepts all types of odd jobs Trotsky asks him to do like giving a priest a ride to the bus station or airport across the river in Nuevo Escandon, Mexico. But his wife, Maruca, isn t really fond of Trotsky and is always asking Honore to cool it with him. Comparatively, in Honore s eyes Trotsky saved him from a life of drug dealing. Before he met Trotsky, Honore used to smuggle dope with his puro carbon neighbor, Tequila Cuervo, and is constantly bothered by this pendejo. He refuses to go back to pot, coke, ... • 3. A Summary Of Absolute Space I. Absolute Space O Connor complained that stories written by Southerners had been influenced by Television. She stated that Southern identity is no clichĂŠ. The difference that French Marxist cultural critic, Henri Lefebvre makes between absolute and abstract spatiality s is one that clarifies the conflicts in A Good Man is Hard to Find . He said that these spaces are categorized by their relationship (Link 125). One may say that through the eyes of Lefebvre, one can see the spaces of A Good Man Is Hard to Find in a way that relinquishes, diminishing them to the basic constraint of sanctified, regular spaces of beauty, from one viewpoint, and mischievous spaces of current capital on the other. The capacity of this nonexistent structure to uncover the subtle elements of O Connor s spatial talk, and to do as such with regards to the abstracting energy of capital, makes it a profitable supplement to exchanges of her utilization of space. The short story stated that absolute space is made up on Christian fragments of nature (Link 126) existing outside of capitalist relations. Link stated that absolute space is ruled by natural methods such as traditional agrarianism and cultural revealing frameworks grounded in religious acceptance. Link specified that Absolute space isn t greater than abstract space. II. Abstract Space The article states that Theoretical space is the result of a homogenizing power that motive is to make space see through and readable leaving no space for outside voices. The abstraction in the story reduces landscape by separating it from grace. Lefebvre writes Excess, or the incommunicable has no existence in totalizing abstract space (Link 126). Link stated that this residue which remains opaque the transparency of abstract inscriptions of space, is represented by The Misfit, who could be reduced neither to a sentimental good man nor to an obscene killer(Link 126). The story states the misfit is in his correct place only when the abstract place means containment such as prison. Stone mountain was the first landmark that the family passed on their trip. Stone monument was known as a failed monument. III. Abstract Spatiality The short story explained that the Grandmother brought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Industrial Revolution Of The Middle East For millennia mankind has exhausted endless amounts of energy contemplating the eternally complicated system of war. From Gangas Khan to America s involvement in the Middle East, all successful generals, military leaders, and conquerors have found commonality in their zealous emphasis on, and desire for, possessing the most technologically advanced forms of weaponry. Such a desire was not ignored in America nor England during the Industrial Revolution, but, rather, was seen by many as an opportune investment during a time of extraordinarily progressive innovation. With this in mind the Industrial Revolution became heavily involved with the advancement of weaponry, forever changing the face of war unlike any era before it. The industrial revolution was a time of great change for both Europe and America. Inventions during this time (such as the cotton gin, the steam engine, sewing machine) stemmed from a seemingly never ending flow of revelation in thought. Thus, paving the way for a more advanced and technological society. This was a time of great accomplishment. With the drastic advancement of economic and technological innovation came the traumatic realization of necessary social adaptation; a change that did not come easy for such a progressive society. The upper class became more wealthy as the number of impoverished citizens increased. Britain set an appropriate stage for the industrial revolution to take place. Britain was a politically stable society and was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Measure Of Income Inequality In the past 20 years income inequality has become a major issue in particular within the United States (US) where a significant income gap has occurred. This is exemplified by the US Gini index (GI), a measure of income inequality, which has risen from 43 in 1990 to around 47 in 2010 and is continuing to trend upward (David Moss, 2011). This has now become a problem that both develop and developing nations face. The main causes being globalization and technology. In developed countries globalization has increased cheap foreign imports with technology making importing extremely cost efficient. There s also the outsourcing or the replacement of low skill jobs with newer technology. These two processes have contributed to higher profits for executives while low skill workers are losing their jobs by the thousands. In developing countries globalization has led to low skill workers having to compete in cheap labor markets dropping their wages even further. Technology in these developing countries has also increased income inequality with their lower class unable even be literate enough to learn newer technology. Therefore, inequality damages economies and workforces on a world scale The US among developed countries has one of the worst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a greater concern in world as sectors such as Africa, where poverty has roughly doubled in recent years. Consequently, many of the extreme poverty rates where based on a $1.25 purchasing power a day cut off. If this number is adjusted in 2005 to just $2.00 a day the rate of people living in extreme poverty jumps to 51% (David Moss, 2011). These numbers show that billions of people are unable provide themselves with basics like food, clothing, or shelter. This is a serious problem as these are people who have potential are being left in poverty that kills. At the very least income inequality leaves people with basic necessities with a chance to ... Direct Democracy Vs Representative Democracy Essay Direct Democracy vs Representative Democracy The term Democracy is derived from two Greek words, demos, meaning people, and kratos, meaning rule. These two words form the word democracy which means rule by the people. Aristotle, and other ancient Greek political philosophers, used the phrase, `the governors are to be the governed , or as we have come to know it, `rule and be ruled in turn . The two major types of democracy are Representative Democracy and Direct Democracy. Clearly the arguments for and against each form of democracy are plentiful. However, it is my belief that theoretically, Direct Democracy is the superior form of political rule. Due to problems with in the direct democratic system, its use as a practical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is not even thinkable that all citizens will agree on what good is. Rousseau recognized this and accepted a term of majority rule. Those who voted against a policy which is found to be the best for the general, must have been thinking of personal gains, rather than the gains of the entire society. The feature which distinguishes direct democracy from other forms of government is the idea of agreement and the key to agreement is discussion. It is impossible to reach an agreement without discussion, because it is not right to think that everybody will have the same opinion on all matters. But, it is very possible, that through discussion an agreement could be reached by all members. Representation, on the other hand allows a select few to make decisions in their own best interest, which is not necessarily the best interest of the society. However, direct democracy is not the perfect method to produce a union of the community. For a direct democracy to work, face to face communication between all members of the community is needed. The only way this is possible is to meet in large groups. Due to the fear of high tension, many citizens will not participate in these large group meeting. So in order for these fearful people to voice their opinions they must get together in smaller, less tensions groups, where they are not as timid to say as they wish to see happen. • 7. The Stimulus Of The Words In Jabberwocky the stimulus of the words in context activates thought and the ability to recognize known structures in memory. The context and the placement of the words in sentences allow us to make assumptions about grammatical structure. We determine how a particular word functions in that sentence, i.e., an adjective, verb, adverb, etc. And the words placement within the sentence helps to reveal meaning. ( Sukar Ray ) Lewis Carroll makes up words that tell a story, when strewn together in patterns that mimic known grammatical structures. Here, no one to one relationship between word and referent exists in the world, but it very much feels as if it does because of the context in which the poem is set. It is also an example of how closely related the concept of musical metaphor is with poetic metaphor. In his book Bernstein describes the three metaphors used in music: As concisely as possible, this is it: music has intrinsic meaning of its own, which are not to be confused with specific feelings or moods, and certainly not with pictorial impressions or stories. These intrinsic musical meanings are generated by a constant stream of metaphors, all of which are forms of poetic transformations. (131) Bernstein seeks to prove that music has intrinsic, extrinsic and analogical meaning much the same way language does for non musical meanings. But the exploration can be turned inside out so that we might say that Carroll in his quirky sounds and made up strange ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Twain, an American writer, is one of the major authors of American fiction. Also, he is considered the greatest humorist in American literature (Alan Gribben, np). Mark Twain was influenced by the society s conditions he lived in, hence the incorporation of much of it in his writing. Growing up in the 1870s, Twain s society was much different than growing up now. He grew up during the outbreak of the civil war and he lived during the time of major cynical political corruption that began in the late 1860s all the way to 1900. He was also raised during a time where slave holding was acceptable, and encouraged. Under his father s influence, he was told that slavery was justified through biblical principles. The majority of people in Hannibal, where Twain grew up, thought this and was the reason why everyone was proslavery. The local pulpit taught us that God approved it, that it was a holy thing and that the doubter need only look in the Bible if he wished to settle his mind and then the texts were read aloud to us to make the matter sure; if the slaves themselves had an aversion to slavery, they were wise and said nothing... Food wasting in america is well talked about problem with $165 million dollars worth of food is being wasted every year. Food wasting in america can be caused by many things, but three main reasons are overstocking their produce, misconceptions with the due date, and business. Many businesses waste food especially by overstocking. In farmer s markets many farmers overstock their crates with produce to have appeal to the buyers. Delaney Zayac gives us an example that if he would have sold more chard if people saw more of it in the crate compared to seeing only some (Last Week Tonight). This is because many people have the assumption that if it s the last one there must be something wrong with it. Assessing Aphasia Within The Constructs Of The Who Icf Model Assessing Aphasia within the Constructs of the WHO ICF Model Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers throughout the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology, and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012), and then fully published it in 2001 under its current title. In what was considered a radical shift of focus from the cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the disease or disorder (World Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of ability versus disability. Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components related to health. These components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d) participation (involvement in life situations) with additional consideration for the interdependence and impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal factors (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). There is a way to prevent this and that is to institute the Graduated Driver s License (GDL) in all states. This would help by allowing teens to earn driving privileges gradually. Instituting the Graduate Driver s License will reduce traffic deaths among teens, and also gives teens the driving experience they need to operate a vehicle responsibly. A graduated driver s license allows teens to earn driving privileges gradually, rather than all at once. These statistics prove that the GDL can and will work for those who choose to enforce it, and will lessen the amount of teen accident fatalities in the state. With a graduated license, teens will earn the experience they need to become skilled drivers. According to the text, Studies show that it is inexperience, not age, that causes accidents. Think about it: could changing the age from 16 to 18 really prevent accidents or just put more inexperienced adults on the roads? Teens make up 7 percent of all drivers, but are involved in 20 percent of all accidents. The reason being is that many teens do not have the road experience necessary to make safe driving decisions. The GDL is the best option for teen drivers, giving them safer a driving experience. By focusing on the individualist vs. collectivist dimension, the impact of geographical location on suicide rates could potentially be explained. • 27. Essay ROME IN THE AUGUSTINIAN AGE 30 BC ~ Octavian was given the title of Imperator, and was used in the Eastern provinces. Imperium suggests unlimited imperium (or power) (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) This was the first of many titles that were to be given to Octavian after his defeat of Mark Antony in 31 BC at the Battle of Actium. It indicates that the provinces thought Octavian was worthy of being honoured, and that the power he possessed at the time should remain. Therefore making it the first factor that led to the rise of Octavian. 28 BC ~ During the struggle between Octavian and Antony, both men had purged the Senate of men who they viewed as posing a threat to them and who might initiate a revolt. These men were often replaced with loyal supporters. In 28 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, although Dio Cassius was writing approximately two centuries after the events, it would have been possible for him to have quoted direct speeches made by Octavian. Dio Cassius context also needs to be taken into account. He was a Senator, consul and proconsul himself, and was therefore, like most ancient Roman historians, an elite male, writing about an elite male, for other elite males. Octavian himself does not clearly state whether or not the transfer took place at one point, or over an extended period of time in a series of steps (as is the belief of some historians), I transferred the republic from my power to the dominion of the Senate and people of Rome. (Res Gestae Divi August) caution needs to be taken when assessing this source as it is Octavian s own account of what happened, and so is obviously extremely biased, aiming to portray himself and his achievements as he wanted them to be remembered. Regardless of the time period the significance of Octavian s actions are clear. He gave up his powers and returned absolute authority in the provinces as well as his control of the legions that were sanctioned there. (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) This was significant as these legions had been the basis of his power. As Eck highlights in his The Age of Augustus Octavian theoretically gave up his authority, but in reality the Senate and people of Rome had little power as they lacked the ability to initiate ... By controlling access to information and tools, by selected subordinates and other supervisors, the toxic leader creates an area where only he/she can succeed. Such actions are undertaken for the sole purpose of self aggrandizement on the part of the person in charge; with the desired result that they are seen as the keeper of the knowledge or the solver of the problem. Consequently, this often creates an impression with the leader s supervisors that he/she is the irreplaceable element, or the go to guy and can be justifiably depended upon to handle this area, thus creating an agency sponsored sense of expertise. • 36. Interplay Between Human Laws And Divine Laws In Antigone... In Sophocles s Antigone, one of the central storylines situates on interplay between human laws and divine laws. Although divine characters do not directly appear in the play, their rules and regulations soundly affect characters behaviors. This is clear throughout the play. The expressions of the characters in the play, as well as the thematic ending of the play that featured the realization of King Creon over his decisions against divine laws requiring every deserving man s burial, apparently demonstrate divines superior status to humans. However, divines are not able to reverse the damages done by human transgressions. In the play, divine s presence is evident. The play starts with Antigone, malicious late king Oedipus s daughter, agonizing over the death Polynices and Etocles, Antigone s brothers, after a bloody civil war over Oedipus s succession to her sister Ismane. In her agony, Antigone describes the bloody civil war as the final penalty to Zeus for Oedipus (1 10) with shame and dishonor , and Zeus is the master behind Oedipus s downfall and the plague against her family. Since Etocles is seen as the ruler of the city, his successor Creon decrees that no one shall bury Polynices. Loving his brother, Antigone decides to go against Creon s decree and bury his brother, calling not burying Polynices an insult to what the gods believe everyone deserves a proper burial (49 75). Yet, Creon also justifies his decisions based on gods orders to make him king. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The plays depict the struggle for the crown and in Richard the third it shows how Richard finally gets to the crown by committing lots of murders but then is toppled by Richmond. That quote shows how buckinghams conscience needs some time to think about whether he shall kill the princes. I think Buckingham has a problem about killing the princes as they are only young and innocent. Buckingham helps Richard become king as he is promised riches, power and the earldom of Hereford but when he thinks about killing the princes Richard gets angry as he does not want someone who thinks about orders they were given, so Richard does not give Buckingham the reward that he was promised. This makes Buckingham angry so he brings an army to kill Richard but a storm disperses the troops. Buckingham aand Richard need each other to be as strong an example of this would be when Buckingham spreads the rumours about king Edward and the people don t say anything but then when Buckingham gets Richard to stand between two churchmen the people begin to want Richard to become king. In order for that message to be heard, there can t be any sense of the director present, nor the actors behind the characters, as she quotes If the directors hand is to visible in a work then that s a failure to me (AustralianPlays.org 2014). I think a lot of people in this country are led by the notion that the audience is somehow indicative of the work that should be done. For Kosky especially, the directorial strategies are very present and can sometimes change the story from the way the writers intended.
