This document discusses techniques for eliminating Gaussian noise from images using FPGA-based co-processors and various filtering methods. It compares the effectiveness of different filters, such as adaptive median, relaxed median, and adaptive window filters, on images corrupted by Gaussian noise. The results show that the symmetric decision-based adaptive 3x3 window filter performs best regarding peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), while the adaptive median filter performs better in terms of mean squared error (MSE).
