The study investigated the correlation of Plasmodium falciparum parasitemia between maternal peripheral blood and umbilical cord blood in pregnant women in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria. Results showed vertical transmission of congenital malaria in 20 out of 43 cases, with a strong positive correlation (p<0.05) indicating a significant relationship between maternal and cord blood parasitemia. The findings emphasize the health risks of malaria during pregnancy and the importance of preventive measures like mosquito net usage.
