Differences Between Gaap And Ifrs
Introduction
There are two distinct methods of accounting for finances in the business world. These two methods
are the methods both prescribed by the U.S., which is known as the generally accepted accounting
principles (GAAP), and that which is used by the international community known as international
financial reporting standards (IFRS). GAAP is regulated by the financial accounting standards board
(FASB) while IFRS is regulated by the international accounting standards board (IASB). These two
methods are currently under a process which is known as convergence or harmonization so that the
United States will eventually become integrated into the global community (Miller, S. E. 2009). This
will cause financial statements to be more usable for more people across the globe as well as enhance
citizens of the U.S. s ability to perform business more efficiently internationally.
Principles Versus Rules Based Methods
There are many challenges and hurdles to overcome in order to achieve harmonization between GAAP
and IFRS. The differences are widespread. Most importantly and fundamentally GAAP is considered
to be more rules based, while principalities are largely what guide the users of IFRS. GAAP
Regulations are more detailed, specific and voluminous. Conversely, IFRS regulations are less
voluminous and make allowance for more exceptions. As an example IFRS allows the reversal of a
write down after the fact while GAAP that when a write down is taken then it is irreversible.

Ethical Issues Essays
Ethical Issues
Autonomy The ideal of self determination is the basis for autonomy. It is important that a patient be
allowed to decide what should be done to his or her own body. In other words, nobody else has the
right to assert their power over another. Likewise, a physician should be allowed to decide not to
perform a procedure if doing so would conflict with his or her values. In the Cruzan case, Nancy s
autonomy by way of her parents substituted judgment was overridden in favor of the State of Missouri
s policy to preserve life. Although the Supreme Court did not deny that Nancy had the right to refuse
nutrition/hydration, there was not enough clear and convincing evidence to know that refusal was
what Nancy truly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The State did not actually contest Nancy s right to refuse treatment. The State wanted to make
absolutely certain that there was a standard of evidence available to protect the patient in the case that
the surrogates were not acting on behalf of the patient s wishes. Furthermore, disrespecting Nancy s
autonomy would have done more harm than good to the profession of medicine. Patients want
reassurance that the physician will not override their decisions in an act of paternalism (as well
intended as the physician may be). Lastly, the physician may have a conflict with withdrawing
treatment, but he or she must distinguish the difference between withholding a desired treatment
versus withdrawing a treatment that is unwanted.
Competency When discussing ethical issues concerning health care, competency refers not only to the
ability of a patient to make a decision, but also to the ability of the patient to understand that decision.
Included in comprehending the decision is also the patients understanding the consequences of his or
her decision on both oneself and others. The determination of patient competency is not measured on
any standard scale, but rather a common sense determination made by the physician. In order to make
that determination, the physician must realize that the patient need not understand necessarily how the
treatment works, but rather the consequences of accepting various treatments or refusing

Wicca In American Culture
What is Wicca? IN today s culture, it is all too easy to confuse the Wiccan religion with those of the
satanic nature we see in movies and on TV shows. However, I have found that we as people outside
looking in have been easily influences by the media.
With respect to the Wicca culture, I chose to explore 3 significant pieces that I also found in the
metaphysical store. 1) The Pentagram, 2) Rituals and Herbalism, 3) The Broom. When I finished
conducting my research, I found that Wicca is no cult, or outlandish following that people cannot
relate to. Rather, it takes spirituality, religion, and the mind, and marry them together, creating an
existence of people who are constantly fighting the split between the mind, nature, and the body.
History: Gerald Gardner, a studier of the occult and magic came back to England in after the
beginning of WWII, he published his first book on witchcraft called Witchcraft Today (Britannica). He
was able to do so after England abolished its witchcraft laws, and later created his first coven of
followers to create the form of witchcraft we know as Wicca. The religion s popularity grew in the
west, due to the emphasis on nature, assorted living styles, and split from ... Show more content on

broom has the same applications in the Baptist religion, as it does in these multitude of religions. It is

Origin of Amber Alerts
Name Origin of Amber Alerts December 9, 2010 Research Paper I m sure we all can admit that we
have changed the channel on the television when those loud Amber Alerts float across the screen, but
do we really know exactly what they re for or how they were created? It may hurt to know what you
ve been ignoring. The creation of Amber Alerts is rather interesting and as well as heartbreaking but
first, let s get an idea of what the Amber Alert is for. The amber alert is a notification system to law
enforcement and the media about child abductions. The purpose of Amber alerts is to notify the public
when a child has been abducted and is in danger. They use radio, television, freeway message boards
and many other methods to inform the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their next act in making it a more effective program is the Instant Amber. With Instant Amber, parents
are able to have another tool to help them if they ever need it in an emergency such as a child goes
missing because all the information is gathered beforehand as a preemptive strike. By 2005, a national
alert system coordinated by the U.S Department of Justice extended all 50 states. In 2006, the U.S
Postal Service issued a stamp to supporting of the Amber Alerts. These stamps are not just in honor of
Amber but for all the abducted children. After all, Amber stands for America s Missing: Broadcast
Emergency Response. The stamp dedication ceremony was held in Washington, D.C. They also had a
separate ceremony in Arlington, Texas at the hometown of little Amber Hagerman. Amber s mother
feels Amber would be very proud and it would make it feel as if she is a guardian angel watching over
children, making them sure they get home safe. Even though, Amber s story didn t have a happy
ending, the Amber Alerts do help many abducted children out there. In the United States, they have
saved 525 children since the program was created. You have to remember the fact of the time lapse
most children are murdered in. The statistics for the U.S is 797,500 children (younger than 18) were
reported missing in a one year period of time studied resulting in an average of 2,185 children being
reported missing each day. 203,900 children were the victims of family abductions.

The Worst Miracle Drug For Gastrointestinal Patients
The Worst Miracle Drug Scientists from the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy
studied Ibuprofen, which originated as an anti acidic drug for gastrointestinal patients. The purpose of
the study was to assess the safety of non inflammatory drugs to treat cardiovascular disease (BMJ
2016, pg.1). Accordingly, of this study s 10 million participants, 92% had cardiovascular disease
caused by painkillers, and those who stopped using Ibuprofen reduced risk of worsening
cardiovascular condition. Various age ranges received different treatments. For minors, physicians
lowered doses as a precautionary measure. By contrast, long term users above age seventy seven who
were prescribed higher doses showed an increased risk of heart attack. Various ages, races, and sexes
were tested to generalize results. Hospitalization occurred in 95% of frequent ibuprofen users. Long
term usage showed destruction of the gastrointestinal tract. Ibuprofen was later found to lead to
stomach ulcers. The label clearly explains to consumers to consult a GI doctor before consumption.
Ibuprofen deprives the heart of oxygen enriched blood, which may result in heart failure. Readers will
draw focus on the alarm and potential health scares through medical evidence. As I compared the
British Medical Journal and the guardian, all relative information must be relayed throughout the
document. All research shown in the BMJ was fully factual evidence based upon the experiment. The

Exegesis on Exodus 20
Bible Exegesis: Exodus 20
Prior to beginning this assignment, I had already found a passionate interest in theology, primarily the
logical historical analysis of the Old Testament. I had read several books on the topic, but still had a
thirst for more knowledge. With that said, my preceding assumptions predominantly consisted of
skepticism towards the religious interpretation of the Old Testament. I believed that Exodus 20 was a
prime example of the religious establishment interpreting an ancient text as to be divine. I felt that the
Ten Commandments were nothing more then a moral code of antiquity, established as an ethical
compass by spiritual leaders in a religious society. Exodus 20 is a hot button topic in today s polarized

Exodus 20 begins by stating that this is the word of god, or Elohim. Verse two continues this assertion
by proclaiming, I am YHWH thy God, who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the
house of bondage (Darby Translation Bible Exod 20:2). This statement immediately grabs the reader s
attention and imposes his authority as the savior of the Israelites who formed a covenant with his
chosen people that they shall obey only him. YHWH demands this authority in Exodus 20:3 when he
says, Thou shalt have no other gods before me. However, The Jerusalem Bible provides a more telling
interpretation of Exodus 20:3, There shall be no strange god for you before my face. This suggests that
the acknowledgement of other gods is accepted, as long as YHWH is the only god worshiped. As
Karen Alexander Explains, To ignore a potential source of (divine intervention) seemed frankly
foolhardy, and the subsequent history of the Israelites shows that they were very reluctant to neglect
the cult of the other gods (23).
During antiquity, it was widely assumed that gods only controlled specified territories or earthly tasks.
So, as people would travel outside the territory of one god, they would begin worship of another. This
fundamental belief originates from the ancient Babylonian myth of the Enuma Elish. In this story of
creation, gods emerge from primordial

Bosk Reading Error
Summary: The Bosk reading Error, Rank, and Responsibility is about the professionalization of
surgical residence in the United States. Whether the surgeon is a resident or an experienced attending,
in the process of performing any surgery, mistakes are inevitable. However, in the case of the
attending, the quantity and nature of the error should be less frequent than that of the resident. Among
the interns, the three most common errors are technical, judgmental, and normative; and among
attendings the quasi normative error is most common. Thus, a technical error is defined as any error
that is reported and treated immediately. When this does not happen, the interns level of training is
questioned. In the case of judgmental error, an incorrect

The student I focused on for this child art analysis report is an eleven year old male, and his name is
Rustin. Rustin is in the fifth grade and currently resides in Smyrna, Ga with his father, mother,
younger sister, and his pet cat. Both of Rustin s parents are English speaking Caucasians that were
born and raised in Georgia. Rustin is an older brother to his five year old sister, and they are both
Caucasian and speak English. My student s living environment consists of a two parent household in a
middle class neighborhood in Smyrna. Rustin s parents both work full time but are able to stay very

if he could just use markers. He went in his room where he has a desk that he regularly does his
homework at and said that he would just do it in there. I then prompted him with the suggestions of
drawing about him and his cat, him playing soccer, his family, school, or even about the time he had
his birthday party at Fernbank. Once Rustin decided that he wanted to draw about playing fetch with
his aunt s dog, he spent close to fifteen minutes to complete it. Rustin is a relatively quiet eleven year
old, therefore most of the time that he was drawing he was silent. I asked him a few times while
coloring what he had drawn, and then he would explain it to me. However, I had to initiate any
conversation that took place during this time. Once he was finished it was very clear that he drew
exactly what he told me he was going to, and when I asked him for the title of the artwork he said it

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. There are two ways to
live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
Albert Einstein was the first child born to Hermann and Pauline Einstein, Jewish, middle class
Germans, on March 14, 1879 at Ulm, in Wurttemberg, Germany. Albert s sister, Maria, was born in
November of 1881. They remained close throughout their lives.Einstein and sister 1 The Einstein

1905 was Einstein s miracle year. In March of that year, he sent to the Annalen der Physik, the leading
German physics journal, a paper with a new understanding of the structure of light. He argued that
light acts as though is consists of independent particles of energy. Einstein built on Max Planck s work
and went beyond this. He showed that light quanta could help to explain phenomena being studied by
experimental physicists; he made clear how light ejects electrons from metals. In May of 1905,
Einstein submitted another paper that reinforced the kinetic energy theory. His Special Theory of
Relativity was born; Einstein submitted yet another paper in June of 1905 on electromagnetism and
motion. Since Galileo and Newton, physicists had known that laboratory experiments never revealed a
difference between an object at rest and an object moving at a constant speed along a straight line.
Objects behave the same way on a uniformly moving ship as they do on an anchored ship; this is the
Principle of Relativity. However, according to the electromagnetic theory, light should not obey this
principle. This theory predicted that measurements on velociy of light would show the effects of
motion. Yet, no such effect had been detected in any experiments the velocity of light did not vary.
Einstein found a way to show that the Principle of Relativity was

School comes four years of undergraduate and after undergraduate degree pursuit of master s degree.
However, the timeline isn t quite as organized. As more students are encouraged to apply to colleges,
more colleges and Universities are being founded. However most of the major public Universities
such as Penn State, Rutgers and Indiana University of Pennsylvania gain their share of students

Change of Universities is one of the reasons why students take longer to graduate. Mostly because the
credits that are offered in one institution are not counted in the other institution. Thus it is hard to keep
track of what credits or courses the student has take during the non traditional 2 year institution.
(Rhine, Milligan) The article by Whine and Milligan describe the adversities transfer students face
coming from community colleges. One of the suggestions made to community colleges to ameliorate
the transferring process of the students is close advising and creation of a goal plan. The lack of a goal
erases the sense of duty and perseverance in students. If student don t have a plan, they attend college,
attend social gathering and parties, however fail to gain the knowledge or sense of direction the
college provides for individuals who take advantage of advising and career development. In addition
to frequently changing their majors, the transfer students face the experience that is referred to as the
transfer shock . This term refers to the academic struggles that transfer students face after the
transition period. Transfer students may experience a sharp decline in GPA the semester after
transferring. (McCormick pg. 2) Because of the declines grades, the transfer students are discouraged
to continue and persevere through a typical struggle of a college student. The decline in GPA is in

Connotation Of The Duchess Of Malfi
Nathan Patnam Doctor Natalie Grinnell English 201 28 April 2016 Connotation of Widow in The
Duchess of Malfi In Webster s play, The Duchess of Malfi , the Duchess of Malfi is not trusted by her
two brothers. The Cardinal and Ferdinand are worried that the Duchess will marry someone when they
leave to go to Rome, which could jeopardize their ties to the Duchess s inheritance when she dies.
Although the Duchess reassures them both that she will not remarry, Ferdinand and The Cardinal
continually to threaten the Duchess. In one instance Ferdinand threatens the Duchess with their father
s dagger, which not only shows the amount of distrust Ferdinand has for his own sister, but also shows
the power that Ferdinand believes he wields as a man in a patriarchal society. Furthemore, towards the
end of Act I, Ferdinand calls the Duchess a lusty widow even though she has not done anything lustful
(I. ii. 313). The aggressive nature and attitude display by the Duchess s brothers raise the question of
how badly were widowed women viewed in society at this time? To show why Ferdinand and the
Cardinal are so distrustful of their widowed sister, Joseph Swetnam s pamphlet written in 1615,
Arraignment of lewd, idle, orward, and unconstant women, will be used to show how widowed
women were viewed by society. From using this definition parallels can be drawn between the actions
of a typical widow and the Duchess. In Joseph Swetnam s pamphlet, Swetnam writes about how

What Were The Underlying Causes Of World War 1 Essay
The Underlying Causes of World War I
World War was one of history s greatest tragedies. The war was fought in Europe and lasted as long as
four year s, 1914 1918. The war costed an estimate of ten million lives and also twenty million
wounded. Also, the war was triggered by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. It is very to
understand the causes of this tragedy. The war had three significant causes. They were Alliances,
Militarism, and Imperialism. The first cause of World War I was Imperialism. By the late 19th century,
Europe has took up so much of Earth, especially in Africa and southern Asia. The war in 1913, Britain
controlled more than twelve million square miles of overseas possessions. France had over four
million (Doc.F). This didn t look good for Germany and Austria Hungary who lost one million square
miles of possessions between them. They trailed England and France sixteen to one. Germans saw
England as a giant octopus with it s tentacles around the world sucking out the Earth s resources
(Doc.E). Arms and a alliance were necessary to fight this colonial monster. But the arms and alliances
were the means for dealing with the real problem. The underlying problem was the unequal
distribution of the colonial pie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hackers? Are peoples assumptions about teenage hackers correct? In 1995 the movie Hackers

The article, Finding ones own in cyberspace by Amy Bruckman, explains how anyone can form their
own cyber community. Bruckman says, the way a community is publicized or not publicized also
influences its character (175). Even though the hacker society has not been publicized, they are still
around. Hackers publicize the information that they want other people to hear. Their prerogative is to
portray themselves the way they want to be known. In an interview conducted with researcher Sarah
Gordon, who studies the psychology of virus writers and hackers, she states, There are lots of kids just
out joyriding on computer systems. Not everyone knows what they are doing or how serious they are
affecting other people. Therefore, many different cyber communities are formed including a few for
hackers. Also shown in Hackers is the idea that hackers not only come together through the internet,
but also in the real world. Everyday hackers do not limit their meeting places to just the cyber places
as shown in the film. The hytec environment such as raves is easy for Hollywood to associate with
hackers. However, raves and cyberspace are not the only places for hackers to meet. They can also
meet anywhere such as a coffee shop or a park. Hackers tend to be perceived as people with an
addiction or infatuation with computers. The movie shows the main character staying up all hours of

A leader s style can be classified as transactional, transformational, or what is considered level 5. A
transactional leader creates a very structured environment. Those leaders employing transactional
leadership create clearly defined responsibilities for employees and subordinates. Transactional
leadership details the rewards for success; unfortunately, transactional leadership also encompasses an
element of punishment for failure. The punishment can be something as simple as a reprimand for
small infractions up to termination for more serious infractions; the consequences are usually well
documented as a formal policy. The transformational leadership style goes far beyond transactional
leadership. A transformational leadership style is characterized by high energy, sensibility, clarity in
direction, and empathy. Transformational leaders inspire subordinates to go beyond the norm and
achieve goals on a greater scale than they thought possible. The transformational leader promotes a
mentoring relationship rather than a monitoring relationship. Which leadership style is better? The
answer would be neither, both have their place. The culture and potential problems facing a company
are factors that determine which leadership style works best. While the leadership style is important,
the leader is just as important. Anyone can be a manager, but what does it take to become a great
leader? What sets level 5 leaders apart from

Analyzing Imogen Heap s Song Clean
The song Clean, written by Taylor Swift and produced by Imogen Heap is a pop song that actually has
a deep meaning. The secret meaning of this song is She lost him, but she found herself and somehow
that was everything. This secret meaning gives me a hint of what type of song Clean is. This song is
about going through something hard in life, it could be a bad relationship or the loss of someone
loved, it could be addiction or even depression, and finally getting through it. Clean is a song anyone
can relate to. This song is about finally getting over something that has been haunting you for a long
time, and when you are finally over it, you feel clean. For Taylor, this song was about getting over a
relationship where there was a lot of struggle, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think this is really relatable because most people that are struggling tend to hide their emotions, and
do not tend to open up, or ask for help, but at the same time they want people to notice, they want
help. I guess when you are really in a bad place and really struggling you feel like screaming as loud
as you can, but no one can hear you, therefore no one is going to be able to help you. A part of the
bridge goes like just because you re clean don t mean you don t miss it I think this specific line in this
song is so realistic. Even when you re clean, moved on, over it, there are going to be times when you
are going to miss it, times when you will want to go back to that situation, and I think that is a normal
thing to experience. Throughout the song Swift is sure of herself and her decision, she knows she is
better off since she got past that, and this part of the song she shows that just because she is over that
situation, it does not means she does not miss the person and the good times. A lot of people can relate
to these specific lyrics, like for example, a drug addict, a drunk, a self harmer, just because you are not
doing those things right now, it does not means you still don t think about doing them every single
day, it does not means you don t miss it. The song follows with ten months older, I won t give in, now

goals were displayed. Performance goals are defined as the goal to demonstrate abilities to others. (

Difference Between Postcolonialism And Post-Colonialism
Introduction
In the 1990s, when other fields failed to predict some major events of the twentieth century, including
the struggle to decolonise, post colonialism entered the field of International Relations.
Postcolonialism can be surmised as the theory of International Relations which uses the effect of
colonialism to describe the conditions of countries today, with a focus on personal information from
its peoples. Post colonial refers to the analysis of colonialism and anti colonialism. Postcolonial is
used to indicate the analysing of the current era of International Relations as the postcolonial era. The
relevance of postcolonial theory for the study of International Relations will be discussed and

Pros And Cons Of Zero-Based Budgeting
With Zero Based Budgeting (ZBB) the budget starts at 0 (Financial Web, 2015). The department needs
to justify their expenditures for the current year, and the allocation of funds is determined by the
merits of their policy rather than the budget that was allotted the previous year (Financial Web, 2015).
There are pros and cons with ZBB. ZBB assures effective allocation of funds, avoids unnecessary
expenditures, utilizes cost effective methods, and removes ineffective and counterproductive activities
(Financial Web, 2015). However, it takes longer to prepare, the expense of the budget is increased,
many decision packages may be needed depending on the size of the organization, it requires
commitment, everything must be justified, and all those involved must be educated in how to use ZBB
(Financial Web, 2015). The best way to describe Planning Programming Budgeting (PPB) is by
examining its individual components. Planning refers to the production and potential as well as
considering alternatives (Feltes, 2003). Programming refers to the manpower, material, and facilities
necessary for accomplishing a program. PPB has five distinguishing features. First is program
accounting, which involves organizing information based on their purpose or their task (Feltes, 2003).
This is different from financial accounting, which is which focuses more on the object or class of
expenditure (Feltes, 2003). Second in multi year costing, which involves the building of budgetary

Real Men Drink Coke
CASE ASSIGNMENT: COKE ZERO Chapter # 8)
Do Real Men Drink Diet Coke?
When a couple of marketing managers for Coca Cola told attorney Elizabeth Finn Johnson that they
wanted to sue their Coke Zero colleagues for taste infringement, she was baffled. She tried to talk
them out of it, but they were determined. They argued that Coca Cola Classic should be protected
from the age discrimination it would suffer with the introduction of a newer, younger soft drink that
tasted exactly the same as the original. Frustrated, Finn Johnson held up the Coke can and shouted, It s
not a person! Title VII doesn t cover these things!

someday be a megabrand for the company alongside Coca Cola Classic and Diet Coke. Chief
Marketing Officer Bayne is enthusiastic about the impact it may have on the company. We do see this
as potentially a bit of a white knight. There s huge opportunity to grow here.

The organization supported the unions and their negotiators to lead employee surveys and to research
their most important issues prior to each contract negotiation.
Its strategy, right from having standardized fleet to having minimal but motivated employees while
presenting employee profit sharing arrangements, have helped it pick up an exemplary position which

staff, impressive customer service, despite the fact that it offers no frills, there is still a high level of
customer satisfaction that continuously builds customer loyalty for the organization.

How Phobias Affect People And How Can Overcome Their Phobia
Purpose: At the end of my speech, the audience will know how phobias affect people and how to
overcome their phobia.
I. Introduction
a. Imagine being so afraid of something that you try everything in your power to avoid it. For
example, someone who fears spiders is not going to walk that trail that leads into a wooded area and
you can almost guarantee that the person who isn t too fond of heights isn t going to walk across that
tall bridge. If you ask these people why they won t partake in these activates, they would probably
respond with I don t want to or I m afraid to . Sure most, if not all, of us are afraid of something. I m
not thrilled to be standing up in front of everyone giving a speech, but here I stand.
b. If your fear prevents you from doing certain activates, then it isn t just a fear, it is actually a phobia.
In 2013, Patterson wrote that, A phobia is described as a chronic and extreme fear of an object or
situation out of proportion to the danger actually presented by the feared thing. (p. 58).
c. I find this description to be most accurate because I, at one point in my life, had a phobia. The
phobia I had is called coasterphobia and if the name isn t a dead giveaway, it is the fear of
rollercoasters. At that time, you could have offered me five hundred dollars to get on a rollercoaster
and I would have turned it down without hesitation. It wasn t until about three years ago that I
overcame my phobia and now I absolutely love roller coasters.

2.1 Professor Ian Webster, chair of the Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation, said the
number of young people putting themselves at risk of alcohol related harm was troubling given the
impact of alcohol on brain development.
Separate figures from the Bureau of Statistics reveal consumption of pre mixed alcoholic drinks has
leapt by 15% in the past year. The figures show that 60% of female drinkers aged between 15 and 17
reported drinking a pre mixed drink, compared to 14% in 2000, suggesting the sweet and fizzy mixes
are increasingly introducing young people to alcohol.
The foundation survey also underlines the rise of alcohol related violence, with more than a quarter of
respondents having been verbally abused by someone under the influence of alcohol, and almost one
in 20 having been physically abused by a drunk person.
The survey of 23,000 people found the proportion of the general population drinking alcohol daily fell
slightly and the number of people abstaining from alcohol climbed from 9.3% to 10.1%.
The alcohol industry seized on the survey to suggest that alcohol abuse was not getting worse. Stephen
Riden, spokesman for the Distilled Spirits Industry Council of Australia, which represents alcohol
manufacturers, said the study showed Australians were moderating their alcohol

The Use of Third Party Logistics Services by Large American Manufacturers: The 2003 Survey
Abstract
This article reports the findings of a survey of large American manufacturers concerning their use of
third party logistics services. Data generated in the survey show that the use of such services by this
group of companies continues to grow and that the service providers continue to deliver logistics cost
and service improvements to their customers, both domestically and internationally. Many of the users
of third party logistics services now share their service provider with their large vendors and
customers, and this has contributed to supply chain integration. Few existing 3PL relationships were ...

In past surveys, 3PL users have clearly indicated their preference for one stop 3PL shopping.
However, as potential buyers have increased in size through sales growth, mergers and acquisitions,
and international expansion, the scope of service offerings and geographical coverage involved in
many recent 3PL contracts has made it increasingly difficult for one provider to meet those
requirements (Gooley 2002). This makes the management of 3PL relationships more complex, and it
requires effective cross corporation management skills to realize the potential benefits of such
relationships (Bowersox, Closs, and Stank 2003). 3PL Services Used Fortune 500 manufacturers use a
wide variety of 3PL services. The typical user buys multiple logistics services from their provider(s).
The range of services used by this year s users is shown in Table 1. The table also includes similar data
from the three most recent surveys. As shown, respondents indicated that the most frequently
outsourced logistics functions in 2003 were freight payment services (72 percent), shipment
consolidation (66 percent), direct transportation services (62 percent), customs brokerage (62 percent),
warehouse management (60 percent), freight forwarding (53 percent), cross docking (53 percent),
carrier selection (51 percent), and tracking/tracing (51 percent). The usage rates reported in most
categories increased since last year s survey.

Analysis Of Canadian Economy
Essay: Canadian Economy Analysis and Measures will be taken 1. Introduction and Background of
Canadian economy
In the international foreign exchange market, the Canadian dollar, Australian and New Zealand are
collectively referred to as resources currency (Issa, Lafrance Murray, 2006). The reason for this is that
the currency exchange rate changes are greatly influenced by the international commodity prices.
Canada is humongous, sparsely populated and rich in oil, minerals, timber and Marine resources.
Formed by Canada s export trade, agriculture, forest and energy products. Energy and raw material
prices will make Canadian dollar. In a long run, people generally believe that Canada economy is
vulnerable to external shocks. The influence of the export trade is influenced by international
commodity price fluctuations. Canada international trade relies highly on the United States. However,
due to the proper macroeconomic policy applied, Canada can always successfully resist the external

Military Decision Making Process And It Essay
Military Decision Making Process and It Is Used In
Staff Operations In today s Army the role of the non commissioned officer (NCO) is ever changing.
They are known as the backbone of the Army and play a crucial role in today s battlefield. The
purpose of this essay is to discuss the roles that a Staff NCO plays in an organization and how they
ensure our combat effectiveness no matter what situation they are put in. To be combat effective,
Soldiers need to carry out the orders that are given from their superiors. The Soldiers to carry out these
orders though cannot be effective without a competent leader. For this reason, the United States Army
has published doctrines that define what makes a leader an Army leader. To be an effective leader at
any level of leadership, Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA) states in ADP 6 22 Army
Leadership (2012,) those leaders must possess attributes and competencies. There are three attributes
and three competencies that comprised together make that Leadership Requirement Model. First we
will look into the three leadership attributes that are the internal characteristics of a leader.
Appropriately, Character is the first of the three attributes. A person s leadership style is directly
affected by their character, which makes up that person s identity. ADP 6 22 Army Leadership (2012)
gives the example of integrity as a trait of character. As defined in ADRP 1 The Army Profession
(2015), integrity s definition is

The Importance Of Superstitions
There are two types of people in this world, the people who follow superstitions and people that dont.
Superstitions play a big role in today s society to the point where people will go about their day due to
a superstition. If a superstition that told them they were going to have bad luck because of walking
under a ladder, they are probably going to be more likely to believe something that is not true. An
event like this took place in the book ¨Julius Caesar¨ when Julius was told to beware of the ides of
march he did not listen. Some say that believing this saying would have saved his life. However it
must be taken into account the other reasons why it could have happened. In this essay we will
analyze and explain on why superstitions are not to be trusted and followed.
One way superstitions are influencing our lives is people believing certain triggers of good and bad
luck, according to the us news ¨25 percent of people in the U.S. say they are very or somewhat
superstitious in general¨ (Colino 1). When people see a black cat or a penny on the wrong side, it is
generally associated with bad luck. In reality a perfectly good penny was just passed up due to ¨bad
luck¨. Most of the time its just as harmless as passing up a penny, but that s not the case with
everyone. Sometimes people let superstitions keep them from doing everyday tasks. This is important
because people are letting rumors and myths that have a pretty big chance of being incorrect
completely change

  • 2. Differences Between Gaap And Ifrs Introduction There are two distinct methods of accounting for finances in the business world. These two methods are the methods both prescribed by the U.S., which is known as the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and that which is used by the international community known as international financial reporting standards (IFRS). GAAP is regulated by the financial accounting standards board (FASB) while IFRS is regulated by the international accounting standards board (IASB). These two methods are currently under a process which is known as convergence or harmonization so that the United States will eventually become integrated into the global community (Miller, S. E. 2009). This will cause financial statements to be more usable for more people across the globe as well as enhance citizens of the U.S. s ability to perform business more efficiently internationally. Principles Versus Rules Based Methods There are many challenges and hurdles to overcome in order to achieve harmonization between GAAP and IFRS. The differences are widespread. Most importantly and fundamentally GAAP is considered to be more rules based, while principalities are largely what guide the users of IFRS. GAAP Regulations are more detailed, specific and voluminous. Conversely, IFRS regulations are less voluminous and make allowance for more exceptions. As an example IFRS allows the reversal of a write down after the fact while GAAP that when a write down is taken then it is irreversible. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ethical Issues Essays Ethical Issues Autonomy The ideal of self determination is the basis for autonomy. It is important that a patient be allowed to decide what should be done to his or her own body. In other words, nobody else has the right to assert their power over another. Likewise, a physician should be allowed to decide not to perform a procedure if doing so would conflict with his or her values. In the Cruzan case, Nancy s autonomy by way of her parents substituted judgment was overridden in favor of the State of Missouri s policy to preserve life. Although the Supreme Court did not deny that Nancy had the right to refuse nutrition/hydration, there was not enough clear and convincing evidence to know that refusal was what Nancy truly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The State did not actually contest Nancy s right to refuse treatment. The State wanted to make absolutely certain that there was a standard of evidence available to protect the patient in the case that the surrogates were not acting on behalf of the patient s wishes. Furthermore, disrespecting Nancy s autonomy would have done more harm than good to the profession of medicine. Patients want reassurance that the physician will not override their decisions in an act of paternalism (as well intended as the physician may be). Lastly, the physician may have a conflict with withdrawing treatment, but he or she must distinguish the difference between withholding a desired treatment versus withdrawing a treatment that is unwanted. Competency When discussing ethical issues concerning health care, competency refers not only to the ability of a patient to make a decision, but also to the ability of the patient to understand that decision. Included in comprehending the decision is also the patients understanding the consequences of his or her decision on both oneself and others. The determination of patient competency is not measured on any standard scale, but rather a common sense determination made by the physician. In order to make that determination, the physician must realize that the patient need not understand necessarily how the treatment works, but rather the consequences of accepting various treatments or refusing ... • 4. Wicca In American Culture What is Wicca? IN today s culture, it is all too easy to confuse the Wiccan religion with those of the satanic nature we see in movies and on TV shows. However, I have found that we as people outside looking in have been easily influences by the media. With respect to the Wicca culture, I chose to explore 3 significant pieces that I also found in the metaphysical store. 1) The Pentagram, 2) Rituals and Herbalism, 3) The Broom. When I finished conducting my research, I found that Wicca is no cult, or outlandish following that people cannot relate to. Rather, it takes spirituality, religion, and the mind, and marry them together, creating an existence of people who are constantly fighting the split between the mind, nature, and the body. History: Gerald Gardner, a studier of the occult and magic came back to England in after the beginning of WWII, he published his first book on witchcraft called Witchcraft Today (Britannica). He was able to do so after England abolished its witchcraft laws, and later created his first coven of followers to create the form of witchcraft we know as Wicca. The religion s popularity grew in the west, due to the emphasis on nature, assorted living styles, and split from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Origin of Amber Alerts Name Origin of Amber Alerts December 9, 2010 Research Paper I m sure we all can admit that we have changed the channel on the television when those loud Amber Alerts float across the screen, but do we really know exactly what they re for or how they were created? It may hurt to know what you ve been ignoring. The creation of Amber Alerts is rather interesting and as well as heartbreaking but first, let s get an idea of what the Amber Alert is for. The amber alert is a notification system to law enforcement and the media about child abductions. The purpose of Amber alerts is to notify the public when a child has been abducted and is in danger. They use radio, television, freeway message boards and many other methods to inform the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their next act in making it a more effective program is the Instant Amber. With Instant Amber, parents are able to have another tool to help them if they ever need it in an emergency such as a child goes missing because all the information is gathered beforehand as a preemptive strike. By 2005, a national alert system coordinated by the U.S Department of Justice extended all 50 states. In 2006, the U.S Postal Service issued a stamp to supporting of the Amber Alerts. These stamps are not just in honor of Amber but for all the abducted children. After all, Amber stands for America s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response. The stamp dedication ceremony was held in Washington, D.C. They also had a separate ceremony in Arlington, Texas at the hometown of little Amber Hagerman. Amber s mother feels Amber would be very proud and it would make it feel as if she is a guardian angel watching over children, making them sure they get home safe. Even though, Amber s story didn t have a happy ending, the Amber Alerts do help many abducted children out there. In the United States, they have saved 525 children since the program was created. You have to remember the fact of the time lapse most children are murdered in. The statistics for the U.S is 797,500 children (younger than 18) were reported missing in a one year period of time studied resulting in an average of 2,185 children being reported missing each day. 203,900 children were the victims of family abductions. ... • 7. The Worst Miracle Drug For Gastrointestinal Patients The Worst Miracle Drug Scientists from the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy studied Ibuprofen, which originated as an anti acidic drug for gastrointestinal patients. The purpose of the study was to assess the safety of non inflammatory drugs to treat cardiovascular disease (BMJ 2016, pg.1). Accordingly, of this study s 10 million participants, 92% had cardiovascular disease caused by painkillers, and those who stopped using Ibuprofen reduced risk of worsening cardiovascular condition. Various age ranges received different treatments. For minors, physicians lowered doses as a precautionary measure. By contrast, long term users above age seventy seven who were prescribed higher doses showed an increased risk of heart attack. Various ages, races, and sexes were tested to generalize results. Hospitalization occurred in 95% of frequent ibuprofen users. Long term usage showed destruction of the gastrointestinal tract. Ibuprofen was later found to lead to stomach ulcers. The label clearly explains to consumers to consult a GI doctor before consumption. Ibuprofen deprives the heart of oxygen enriched blood, which may result in heart failure. Readers will draw focus on the alarm and potential health scares through medical evidence. As I compared the British Medical Journal and the guardian, all relative information must be relayed throughout the document. • 8. Exegesis on Exodus 20 Bible Exegesis: Exodus 20 Prior to beginning this assignment, I had already found a passionate interest in theology, primarily the logical historical analysis of the Old Testament. I had read several books on the topic, but still had a thirst for more knowledge. With that said, my preceding assumptions predominantly consisted of skepticism towards the religious interpretation of the Old Testament. I believed that Exodus 20 was a prime example of the religious establishment interpreting an ancient text as to be divine. I felt that the Ten Commandments were nothing more then a moral code of antiquity, established as an ethical compass by spiritual leaders in a religious society. Exodus 20 is a hot button topic in today s polarized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Exodus 20 begins by stating that this is the word of god, or Elohim. Verse two continues this assertion by proclaiming, I am YHWH thy God, who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage (Darby Translation Bible Exod 20:2). This statement immediately grabs the reader s attention and imposes his authority as the savior of the Israelites who formed a covenant with his chosen people that they shall obey only him. YHWH demands this authority in Exodus 20:3 when he says, Thou shalt have no other gods before me. However, The Jerusalem Bible provides a more telling interpretation of Exodus 20:3, There shall be no strange god for you before my face. This suggests that the acknowledgement of other gods is accepted, as long as YHWH is the only god worshiped. As Karen Alexander Explains, To ignore a potential source of (divine intervention) seemed frankly foolhardy, and the subsequent history of the Israelites shows that they were very reluctant to neglect the cult of the other gods (23). During antiquity, it was widely assumed that gods only controlled specified territories or earthly tasks. So, as people would travel outside the territory of one god, they would begin worship of another. This fundamental belief originates from the ancient Babylonian myth of the Enuma Elish. In this story of creation, gods emerge from primordial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether the surgeon is a resident or an experienced attending, in the process of performing any surgery, mistakes are inevitable. However, in the case of the attending, the quantity and nature of the error should be less frequent than that of the resident. Among the interns, the three most common errors are technical, judgmental, and normative; and among attendings the quasi normative error is most common. Thus, a technical error is defined as any error that is reported and treated immediately. When this does not happen, the interns level of training is questioned. Rustin is in the fifth grade and currently resides in Smyrna, Ga with his father, mother, younger sister, and his pet cat. Both of Rustin s parents are English speaking Caucasians that were born and raised in Georgia. Rustin is an older brother to his five year old sister, and they are both Caucasian and speak English. My student s living environment consists of a two parent household in a middle class neighborhood in Smyrna. I told him that since he was so talented, I needed for him to draw me a picture for my art class. It was very easy to convince him to help me with this assignment. I gave him the paper and offered him the option of using markers, crayons, paint, or even oil pastels, but he asked if he could just use markers. He went in his room where he has a desk that he regularly does his homework at and said that he would just do it in there. I then prompted him with the suggestions of drawing about him and his cat, him playing soccer, his family, school, or even about the time he had his birthday party at Fernbank. Once Rustin decided that he wanted to draw about playing fetch with his aunt s dog, he spent close to fifteen minutes to complete it. Rustin is a relatively quiet eleven year old, therefore most of the time that he was drawing he was silent. I asked him a few times while coloring what he had drawn, and then he would explain it to me. However, I had to initiate any conversation that took place during this time. Once he was finished it was very clear that he drew exactly what he told me he was going to, and when I asked him for the title of the artwork he said it was, Playing fetch with ... • 11. Albert Einstein Essay Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. Albert Einstein was the first child born to Hermann and Pauline Einstein, Jewish, middle class Germans, on March 14, 1879 at Ulm, in Wurttemberg, Germany. Albert s sister, Maria, was born in November of 1881. They remained close throughout their lives.Einstein and sister 1 The Einstein family moved to Munich in 1880 to start their own business. Albert began his secondary schooling at Luitpold Gymnasium. In 1894, the family business failed and the family moved to Milan, Italy. Albert stayed behind in Munich to finish his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1905 was Einstein s miracle year. In March of that year, he sent to the Annalen der Physik, the leading German physics journal, a paper with a new understanding of the structure of light. He argued that light acts as though is consists of independent particles of energy. Einstein built on Max Planck s work and went beyond this. He showed that light quanta could help to explain phenomena being studied by experimental physicists; he made clear how light ejects electrons from metals. In May of 1905, Einstein submitted another paper that reinforced the kinetic energy theory. His Special Theory of Relativity was born; Einstein submitted yet another paper in June of 1905 on electromagnetism and motion. Since Galileo and Newton, physicists had known that laboratory experiments never revealed a difference between an object at rest and an object moving at a constant speed along a straight line. Objects behave the same way on a uniformly moving ship as they do on an anchored ship; this is the Principle of Relativity. However, according to the electromagnetic theory, light should not obey this principle. This theory predicted that measurements on velociy of light would show the effects of motion. Yet, no such effect had been detected in any experiments the velocity of light did not vary. Einstein found a way to show that the Principle of Relativity was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After four year of High School comes four years of undergraduate and after undergraduate degree pursuit of master s degree. However, the timeline isn t quite as organized. As more students are encouraged to apply to colleges, more colleges and Universities are being founded. However most of the major public Universities such as Penn State, Rutgers and Indiana University of Pennsylvania gain their share of students through transferring students. According to the article published in USA Today, students are taking longer than 4 years to graduate college and the main reasons behind it are change of majors, lack of advising and planning, change of Universities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Change of Universities is one of the reasons why students take longer to graduate. Mostly because the credits that are offered in one institution are not counted in the other institution. Thus it is hard to keep track of what credits or courses the student has take during the non traditional 2 year institution. (Rhine, Milligan) The article by Whine and Milligan describe the adversities transfer students face coming from community colleges. One of the suggestions made to community colleges to ameliorate the transferring process of the students is close advising and creation of a goal plan. The lack of a goal erases the sense of duty and perseverance in students. If student don t have a plan, they attend college, attend social gathering and parties, however fail to gain the knowledge or sense of direction the college provides for individuals who take advantage of advising and career development. Connotation Of The Duchess Of Malfi Nathan Patnam Doctor Natalie Grinnell English 201 28 April 2016 Connotation of Widow in The Duchess of Malfi In Webster s play, The Duchess of Malfi , the Duchess of Malfi is not trusted by her two brothers. The Cardinal and Ferdinand are worried that the Duchess will marry someone when they leave to go to Rome, which could jeopardize their ties to the Duchess s inheritance when she dies. Although the Duchess reassures them both that she will not remarry, Ferdinand and The Cardinal continually to threaten the Duchess. In one instance Ferdinand threatens the Duchess with their father s dagger, which not only shows the amount of distrust Ferdinand has for his own sister, but also shows the power that Ferdinand believes he wields as a man in a patriarchal society. Furthemore, towards the end of Act I, Ferdinand calls the Duchess a lusty widow even though she has not done anything lustful (I. ii. 313). The aggressive nature and attitude display by the Duchess s brothers raise the question of how badly were widowed women viewed in society at this time? To show why Ferdinand and the Cardinal are so distrustful of their widowed sister, Joseph Swetnam s pamphlet written in 1615, Arraignment of lewd, idle, orward, and unconstant women, will be used to show how widowed women were viewed by society. From using this definition parallels can be drawn between the actions of a typical widow and the Duchess. In Joseph Swetnam s pamphlet, Swetnam writes about how widowed women were ... Hackers publicize the information that they want other people to hear. Their prerogative is to portray themselves the way they want to be known. In an interview conducted with researcher Sarah Gordon, who studies the psychology of virus writers and hackers, she states, There are lots of kids just out joyriding on computer systems. Not everyone knows what they are doing or how serious they are affecting other people. Therefore, many different cyber communities are formed including a few for hackers. Also shown in Hackers is the idea that hackers not only come together through the internet, but also in the real world.
