The Theory Of Light And Its Effects On The Human Eyes
Light, a concept that has been worked with for many years dating back to 500 B.C. Pythagoras
hypothesized that humans perceive light due to the human eyes ability to emit rays upon the
environment and the emittance gives a human his or her sight (Sekuler). Afterward, human
intellectuals started making it more concise to present day knowledge of light. This development of
light came from two intellectuals named Christian Huygens and Isaac Newton. Newton exclaimed
during the 1700s that light was a stream of particles carrying energy but Huygens, Newton s
contemporary, thought that light needed this invisible ether in order for these streams to make light
travel. Then, a couple hundred years later, modern scientists such as Albert Einstein, Thomas Young,
and Augustin Fresnel proved Isaac s and Huygens hypotheses of light (Rossing, 23 24). This is how
the basis of light was created.
With today s science, light becomes more specifically perceived as a spectrum. The specific name for
this spectrum is the electromagnetic spectrum, which contains many types of waves (NASA,
Electromagnetic Spectrum). In Figure 2, the spectrum shows a variety of wavelengths with specific
wavelengths classified by its length. The range of wavelengths humans can see wavelengths that are
around 400 700 nanometers (nm) as colors while all other electromagnetic waves are simply blind to
humans. The interesting classes for light that are used to measure are microwave and infrared light.

Fossil Fuels Are Bad For Our Environment
Fossil fuels are bad for our environment, and in a economy that is struggling, there is no point in
pouring billions of dollars a year into an energy source that is killing our other resources. This kind of
spending and reckless destruction of our environment will eventually have to stop. The question is,
when it does what will we do? There are many other forms of alternative energy that are accessible to
us right now. These energy sources will eventually have to be used in the place of burning fossil fuels
to power our world. People have become so accustomed to the idea that burning fossil fuels is okay
because that s how it has always been . Even as I am writing this, and researching why it has to stop, I
am not in a panic because these warnings about our planets future health have been preached to me for
a long time. Someday, though, we won t have a choice to ignore this issue any longer. The limiting
factor on humans fossil fuel use will not be the exhaustion of economically recoverable fossil fuels,
but the exhaustion of the Earth s capacity to withstand the harmful byproducts of fossil fuel
combustion. Jeffrey Rissman. Rissman believes, like I do, that there will come a time that burning
fossil fuels won t be an option. When this time comes solar energy is the way to turn. Solar energy is
the best alternative energy source to power our homes and businesses for the future. One of the major
setbacks of using solar energy is the cost. It is expensive to

Christmas Music In Christmas
A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It is
the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season.
However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad
for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols
makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and
organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported.
Kaching of Christmas
But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why
department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December
25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people
suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said.
Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves
several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery,
expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion.
If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the
energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the
Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else.

The Symbolism Of Colors In A Streetcar Named Desire
Colors represent what a character is doing or how they are as a person. In A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche is connected to white but does not represent what the color means and Stanley is connecting
to red, strongly connecting to the color. White has the meaning of purity. Blanche Dubois means white
woods but Blanche as a person is nothing like what her name represents, she sleeps around with man
and lies to make herself look good. This is shown when Blanche says I haven t informed him of my
real age! showing that Blanche has and isn t planning on tell Mitch her age, even though her name
means white, truthful person, not a lieing person. This is also revealed when Blanche spills on her
white skirt again revealing that

the connection from contact and voter turnout may be misleading. Also, the sample size was small for
the study, leading to question the unreliability and perhaps overstating the outcome of the mobilization
campaigns. This study did find that for competitive races the likelihood of voter turnout increased 5%
and those voters were likely to contribute money. They also determined that those running the
campaigns were most likely to target those who had resources, or were affiliated with parties, and had
strong social networks. They concluded that those with certain associations were easier to be

The door knockers who were also of the younger generation and mainly college students used the
scripts of civic duty and that the race was very close. The study suggested that the younger group may
have been mobilized to vote by the door knockers who were also in this same age group. The study
found that the civic duty script had a slightly higher outcome. The study showed that mobilizing
voters wasn t very good. It was however noted that this was a high profile competitive election with
many others from the candidate campaigns, the political parties, and other interest groups also
conducting direct mailings, television ads, and door knockers. Thus those that had been assigned to
the treatment group of this study to receive no contact had been contacted by others also out
campaigning. A 2006, study of direct mail by Gerber, Kessler and Meredith was done to determine the
campaign efforts using direct mail on voter turnout and vote share. In this study the control group was
the governor and secretary of state concentrating the direct mailings for Attorney General. The
findings indicated that the increasing of direct mailings by 10 percentage points did increase the
Attorney General s vote share by 1.5 percentage points. The thought of this increase was the
possibility that voters who were planning on voting were persuaded to change whom they were voting
for or that it persuaded voters to actually go to the polls to vote. In determining the vote share the

Button Button Analysis
In, Button, Button, the author, Richard Matheson introduces Norma and Arthur Lewis. The button
causes temptations that lead to conflicts between the two characters. In the narrative, Mr. Steward
arrives at the house and tells them about the button. If one of them pushes the button, someone will
die, and they will receive a grand total of $50,000. This causes a dramatic conflict between the two. It
brings the worst out of the two of them, causing jealousy, selfishness, and acquisitiveness. Norma has
to make a decision whether to press the button or not. She contemplates and then eventually to press
the button. Matheson uses dialogue, inner thinking, description, and symbolism to develop the central
conflicts in the story and to accentuate how relationships break off even in the best circumstances.
Richard Matheson uses dialogue to develop conflict in the story. The use of dialogue is utilized to
represent situational irony. In Button, Button the text states:
You said I wouldn t know the one that died.
My dear lady... Do you really think you knew your husband? (Matheson 111).
Additionally, this conversation indicates the situational irony revealed by between the two characters:
Norma and Mr. Steward. Mrs. Lewis didn t believe her husband would be the one that dies. She didn t
realize that she was so self absorbed and never truly knew her husband. This conversation between
two characters leaves the readers on a cliffhanger. Readers were also not aware that Mr. Lewis would

The Importance Of End Systems
In today s society networking is pivotal structure in the way information is transferred and received

The Legal Establishment Of Two Individuals Creating Vows
The legal establishment of two individuals creating vows to commit to each other defines what
marriage is, it may just be more than just the paperwork and the ceremonies; but two people having a
mindset and a lifestyle with another person in their interest. It could be affection, or it could be
expectation like it was centuries ago. Either way, a relationship between a man and a woman creating
vows and committing to each other begin and end with specific expectations, a lifestyle change, and
somebodies perfect image of that special someone. Today, being married means a lot to live up too;
loyalty, dependability, cooperation, and a joined effort especially within the household. Lifestyles may
change whether it s the man or the wife and it can depend on who has the money, the job, and the
ability to survive. Meaning one or the other have to be willing to live differently for their special
someone. Also most of the time, usually by the man, a person is imagined in their heads the perfect
person who they are married too.. First, a marriage begins with expectations especially in the 20th
through the 21st century. Like the movies describe, woman stays home raising the kids, making
dinner, making sure the house is clean, and taking care of her husband while he works and earns the
money to survive and keep the household running. These expectations can be hard to live up too when
it s not in someone s favor, which can cause a problem. In Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour, Mrs.

Essay on Everyday Use By Alice Walker
People identify themselves by their colour, culture, language or religion. The identity goes back to
generations and it doesn amp;#8217;t start or change within the individual. It is an evolutionary
process where each person brings upon some changes. This is best described in Alice Walker
amp;#8217;s short story, amp;#8220;Everyday Use ;, where three characters, a mother and two
daughters, are portrayed differently, each with its different qualities and philosophies on life that are
often seen in generations.
Heritage is an important part of a person amp;#8217;s life. It tells the person where it came from and
helps the person reach its destiny, almost like a road map. In this story, Dee has trouble understanding

What Is The Theme Of Marble Chappe
Marble Champ by : Alessandra Bontomasi
Have you ever said to yourself I give up right away and don t even try? Well there is a saying that is
when you work hard it will play off, and in the story Marble Champ by Gary Soto the main character,
Lupe Merdrano never stopped working hard and it lead her to a big prize at the end. The reasons for
this is that she was not good at sports first, then she practiced and practised, then it all paid off in the
future.
In the first little part of the story lupe the main character seems to not be very good at sports. But the
thing is she would say to herself I will never be good at sports. The first piece of evidence is that she
can t run very fast, for example in the story Marble Champ she would try and try to get her body to
move faster in the fifty yard dash and she would never beat anyone. So, this shows that she is not good
at sports because in most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

your numb do the work. Whenever lupe would get a higher score she would beat it or tie it, but at the
end she did win. This also says that it was an hard opponent this time and she had her troubles but
stepped it back up at the end of the match. Her last win was when she versed the winner of the boys
and lupe had a bad start but then won by 7 points. This all show that using skills and working hard at

Lgbt Rights In High Schools
LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual) laws in the United States have been a hot topic for the
past few years. The United States struggle to find a median to establish rules for LGBTQ individuals.
Schools especially endeavor whether to allow LGBT rights to pass or to deny specific rights. Senator
James Lankford states, No school wants any student to be bullied or discriminated against, but the
Department of Education does not have the authority to operate as a national school board and impose
their specific solutions on every district. This could lead to angry boycotts and violence between
numerous LGBT advocate groups and opposition groups. The feud between LGBT advocate groups,

(Bidell). 4,000 GSA student clubs have been registered with GLSEN and are a powerful tool for
school counselors to utilize for social justice advocacy for LGBT students (Bidell). Findings showed
that schools with GSA clubs could diminish absenteeism, exaggerate LGBT school safety, and lower
victimization in contrast with schools without GSA clubs. However, GSA and GLSEN are now just

The Cost of Computer Literacy
What are the costs of computer literacy? Some people argue that there are no such costs, but I believe
there are a few which may be relevant. Does computer literacy affect the way we communicate, and if
so, is this necessarily a bad thing? What is our future, as computer literacy becomes a necessity? What
are the personal, financial, and social costs, as computer literacy becomes a necessity? br br According
to Webster s New World dictionary, literacy is defined as the ability to read and write. There is
definitely more than one interpretation of the word literacy as we have seen in class discussions and
from reading many essays on the subject. The world has grown beyond the understanding of literacy

Take a look at the way we now communicate with our co workers. We are merely feet from each other
in the office, yet we no longer stand up and walk over to talk with someone face to face. Why? Is it
easier to send them e mail and await a response? We lose many forms of communication this way. We
don t get that one on one interaction with each other, we can t see gestures and body language, and this
may even be ground for miscommunication. To me it often seems that we can put aside many of the
things that we would not be able to if there was some type of face to face meeting. We can say that we
haven t received that mail, or that we haven t checked our mail yet. Computers are making
communicating easier, but are they making it more effective? br br Is there a cost to the technician
working with no personal contact? Instead of calling on the phone to report a computer problem, there
has been the advent of the e form. This is yet another alternative to the phone call or talking with
someone. The e form is comprised of a template with data fields that give all the relevant information

wonderful idea for 3 reasons: (1) You no longer need someone to answer a phone, (2) No lost
information between the caller and the technician, and (3) you have the ability to log it in a database to
keep track of problems which also allows you to analyze the data to prevent

Asthma Definition
The Asthma severity is determined by lung function values and asthma symptoms. However there are
essential issues involved in asthma severity that include symptoms and objective measures of lung
function on the same scale. For example, frequent symptoms have the exact significance as (FEV1
below 60% predicted). This makes sense to the clinician .However it is difficult to support, as studies
have shown that there is poor relationship between asthma symptoms and objective measures of lung
function.22,23

When I think of a prison the first thing that comes to my mind is a secure facility where criminals are

usually the prisoners there have to serve long sentences. There are different types of prison, based in
different aspects to protect the prisoners. An example could be Juvenile prisons, which is a prison
usually for minors that are not 18 years old yet. This prison offers educational programs and also it

triage,55 and, as Liaw et al. (1995) noted in their case control studies, it was also becoming apparent
that those with multiple HPV infections have a higher risk of developing cancer of the cervix.53
With the changing dimension of research studies having confirmed that HPV was a necessary cause of
cervical cancer, epidemiological studies advanced to associating different strains of HPV to different
anogenital pathologies, categorizing different histological forms of cervical cancer in relation to HPV
strains and highlighting other risk factors that may play a prominent role or catalyze the carcinogesis
process. For instance, Ngelangel et al. in their hospital based case control studying the Philippines
detected HPV DNA in 93.8% case subjects with squamous cell carcinoma, 90.9% in case subjects
with adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous carcinoma as opposed to just 9.2% of control subjects.56
They observed the presence of 6 HPV types in adenocarcinoma, and 15 HPV types in squamous cell
carcinoma while noting that, apart from HPV 16 and HPV 18, HPV45 had the strongest association
with squamous cell carcinoma. The same year saw the publication of the

Romeo And Juliet Influence
Introduction: Shakespeare is above all writers, at least above all modern writers, the poet of nature; the
poet that holds up to his readers a faithful mirror of manners and life. His tragedy seems to be skill, his
comedy to be instinct. Samuel Johnson (1709 84), Preface to Shakespeare William Shakespeare s
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy about two teenage star crossed lovers. It is considered as a tragic
romance going back to Ancient Greece. An Italian tale is used in its plot and translated into verses as
Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke in 1562 and retold in prose in Palace of pleasure in 1582 by
William Painter. Brooke and Painter are thought chief sources for Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare
borrowed mostly from both but in order to expand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Alfred Adler s Theory Of Psychology
Alfred Adler s theory Individual Psychology focused on the unique ability and motivation of the
individual and the importance of their place in society. Adler was more concerned about social
conditions more so than Freud, which may be the reason why they both parted ways. Alfred Adler had
a more of a holistic approach type theory of psychotherapy, a different worldview, which reflected a
more philosophical way of living. Despite theoretical differences with Freud, Adler went on to
establish a School of Individual Psychology. The reason that I chose this theory is his approach to a
holistic theory approach, as well as his approach to psychotherapy and psychopathology. From a
scientific perspective Adler s main core of personality has to do with striving for superiority, this idea
was to help those who have a sense of helplessness or the means of not having the ability to overcome
any situation (inferiority complex). In addition to that, Adler wanted to give those who followed a
sense of community. Moreover, Adler became a pioneer in his profession, which is something to be
admired. Adler was the first practitioner to provide family and group therapy, which provided the
education as a means of addressing the health of those within the communities. Alfred Adler was born
outside Vienna on February 7, 1870, in 1895 Adler graduated from the University of Vienna and
shortly thereafter began his career in the field of ophthalmology. Not too long after that,

History Of Gum Disease
Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support the teeth. It starts with
inflammation of gums (gingivitis) which when left untreated may proceed to cause bone loss
(periodontitis). As the support of the tooth is lost, gum diseases lead to lose teeth.
Cause: The primary cause of gum diseases is plaque, the sticky bio film of bacteria that is constantly
forming on our teeth. But there are following factors which increase the risk of developing it:
Poor oral hygiene
Smoking or chewing tobacco
Genetics and family history of gum diseases
Crooked teeth that are hard to keep clean
Pregnancy, hormonal changes
Other diseases like diabetes, cancer, HIV

Other studies showed that women with gum disease were more likely to deliver preterm, low birth
weight babies.
Treatment options: The goal of treatment is to reduce swelling, the depth of pockets and stop disease
progression. Treatment options depend on the stage of disease, past history of gum disease, response
to earlier treatment and overall health.
Gingivitis, an early stage of the gum disease is still reversible as the disease is still only isolated to
gums and hasn t yet spread to the bone. It can be easily treated with simple non invasive professional
cleaning by the dentist, followed by daily brushing, flossing and mouthwash rinses. Periodontitis, an
advanced gum disease has spread to the bone and requires surgical treatment.
Scaling of teeth The first and foremost treatment is cleaning of the teeth by a dentist to remove the
plaque and tartar/calculus (hardened bacterial film). This removes the bacteria and thus controls

Designing And Implementing A Technology Project Essay
Designing and implementing a technology project that spans the three different areas of the team will
take a considerable amount of time, energy, planning and resources. The system must incorporate a
balance between all areas as well as a mechanism that supports the growing demand for output of
quality product in a sufficient and efficient manner. Since all three areas (victim correspondence,
property acquisitions, and debt management) function under various rules and procedures according to
internal governance as well as Federal statutes and policies, the system must be cross functional and
multi functional as well as legally compliant. In as much, a lot of consideration is necessary when
deciding which product, software, and system to choose. For example, the current system used by the
debt management section of the Team uses an Oracle Business product that relies on dashboards to
compile, sort, and analyze data. However, the victim correspondence system uses a web based system
that relates case summary and detailed information as well as downloads and links to system and case
related inquiries and information. Legalities are also to be taken into consideration. Most available
products are legally owned by other corporations and are likely leased on long term bases. Because
these intellectual products are leased, the corporation still owns the rights to the products and full
access or manipulation or alterations to the products is a topic for discussion prior to

IDS Financial Services Case Study
Situational Analysis Introduction: IDS Financial Services operate in the consumer financial service
industry. After the acquisition by American Express in 1984 the company went through tremendous
growth for three consecutive years in terms of revenue (average 30%), financial plan fees (174%) and
its sales force (annual rate11%). The company was facing new challenges as to how to maintain this
30 percent growth rate in the market place where the competition was increasing day by day. The
consumer financial industry is growing very fast which creates new opportunities to be exploited.
With this the competition is also growing as the competitors are becoming more and more aggressive
in marketing and selling their products. Now the company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To achieve the target of 30% growth in revenues one of the options with Saunders is to expand his
Sales force. This expansion plan might be curbed internally as it goes against the other key objective
of reducing cost. Saunders would have to put across this expansion as an investment and not a cost.
He should also reiterate the fact that IDS competitors are doubling their sales force. Saunders would
probably face a challenge to change the complex salary structure of the planners as well. It is critical
that this complex structure be simplified and the remuneration benefits be clearly shown (to the sales
force) if Saunders has to curb attrition (attrition rates being high the expected growth might not be
possible). He might face a hurdle in this regard due to the fact that a complex system would have been
put in place to handle all the paper work e.g. there are 150 different commission schedules but general
repulsion to change in the workplace would be a hurdle. Here, Saunders could emphasize that keeping
the sales force is all important especially since: Big players like Merrill Lynch have also started
operating in the middle market and IDS has to consolidate its position there. This is possible only with
a trained retainable work force. If IDS has to target the higher market of high net worth individuals
where it has a smaller presence, then retaining trained personnel is all the more important The fact that
this investment would help

What Is The Theme Of Thank You Ma Am
Thank You, Ma am , by Langston Hughes, is a short story revolving around a boy known as Roger
who attempts to steal from Mrs.Jones, but does not succeed. We are also introduced to Mrs. Jones who
is the owner of the purse. The story is set around 1958 it is not mentioned where, but looking at the
author s background we can hint at New York. The story is set during late night, around a deserted
sidewalk. Roger, who is both eager and scared to know how she might react, finds himself shocked by
Mrs.Jones dragging him to her house instead of calling on the police. As they enter the house she slips
him free and tells him to get himself cleaned up.

Mrs.Jones is overall, a very kind, forgiving and affectionate lady.
There are lots of themes to the story Thank You Ma am , although the most important one would be
not to be judgmental . The story tries to tell us that no one is perfect, and that we all have had a past
where we have done things, which we might regret, and by judging someone else s life won t make it
any easier or more morally satisfying. The theme in the story is addressed by the sentence: I have done
things, too, which I would not tell you, son neither tell God, if He didn t already know.
The other theme of the story would be love, forgiveness, and second chances. The story addresses this
theme, by showing how Mrs.Jones forgives Roger and grants him another chance because she believes
he is trustworthy and that he has learned from his mistake. I personally agree to the theme of the story.
I have come to see these themes a lot of times in many different contexts. Surely we have all come to
hear these themes before, because they are universal

Difference Between Cat And Dogs
There are numerous pet lovers in the United States and world. Many have heard the question about
either being a dog or a cat person. Cat and dog owners are all over the globe. The argument which
dogs are better than cats or cats are better than dogs has been an argument which has been going on
forever and ever. The cat and dog rivalry has been going on for years, decades, or possibly more than a
century. Out of the two animals, one has to be superior to the other. Most Americans would prefer to
own a dog over a cat, and only a few would rather have a cat as a pet than a dog. Not too many
citizens would have both cat and dogs as pets or none at all as pets. Approximately 80 million people
own pets, close to 37% own a dog and roughly 30% are owners of a cat. Depending on whether
someone is a dog owner or a cat owner, personality types differ. There are plenty of reasons why a dog
is a better pet than a cat. Having a dog is similar to having another caring person around. Being a dog
owner is better than being a cat owner. Being a dog owner is better because having a dog as a pet
comes with many benefits. Generally having a dog as a pet is an abundance of fun for several
individuals. People who have fun tend to be more positive in life, and a dog can bring out the positive
side in almost every individual. A dog can help others in multiple ways that people may not know
about. Owning a dog can help a person to stay in shape. McGrill points out, There are physical, mental

357). Factors that add to employee dissatisfaction include: company policy and administration,
supervision, salary, interpersonal relations, and working conditions (Starling, 2011, p. 357).
According to this theory, simply eliminating job dissatisfiers is not enough, what truly motivates
employees more effectively are job satisfiers. In order to motivate employees, managers should lessen
the amount of dissatisfiers and increase the amount of satisfiers (Starling, 2011). Luckily in this case,
the privatization of health benefits falls under the dissatisfiers of company policy and administration.
Therefore, even though the employees are upset with the decision to privatize, the human resources
director can still motivate employees by lessening the other dissatisfiers and by focusing more on
increasing the satisfiers for employees such as giving them more recognition and responsibility.
Following the idea of satisfaction in the workplace, even though the city has the ability to implement
whichever policy it prefers regardless of the employees thoughts that does not imply that the city
should take this route. Employees are motivated when management includes them in the decision
making process. According to the human relations approach, workers are more motivated and satisfied
when there are positive relations between management and workers (Starling, 2011). By simply
imposing their will upon the employees

Griffith compares these scholars to the likes of Plutarch and lists the penalties for those giving bad
advice and the rewards for those that were talented. The author of The Art of War was one such author,
and although the author is still in question his works were successful enough to survive the ages.
The fourth chapter, War in Sun Tzu s Age, gives a brief historical description of how war was
conducted prior to 500 B.C., which was mostly considered civilized and with mutual respect. But
during the era of Sun Tzu, war had become ferocious and Griffith shares an account of three thousand
condemned men forced to commit suicide by cutting their own throat. (p. 33) The more brutal warring

soldiers of the time with the armies composed of swordsmen, archers, spearmen, crossbowmen, and
chariots who found themselves using techniques of tactical reconnaissance, to observation, flank
patrolling, and security issues. (pp. 36, 38)

Strategic Employee Planning is the practice of developing your organizational goals and strategic
plan. It is also knowing how to achieve your goals and implement the plan. Another responsibility of
employee planning is identifying the key roles and personnel who will assist you in attaining them.
Talent Acquisition and Retention is hiring new talent into your organization and recognizing and
cultivating talent you already have in the organization. Promoting from within your organization is
more cost effective and encourages employee engagement and loyalty. Performance Management is
when the right person is aligned with the right role and position within the organization. Its end goal is
to make sure that roles align with your business strategy to achieve its goals. It develops goals for
success, supports employee development, and moves the organization in a positive direction. Learning
and Motivating sounds like two components but they actually go hand in hand. Learning is more than
just training it is the acquirement of information and skills, which in turn gives way to knowledge and
experience. To be effective learning programs need to include behavior based activities and tasks that
support the organization s culture and proposals. The motivation comes in when employees see how
their growth impacts the organization, and realize just how valuable their role is. Career Development

my mind and when I get older I want to be a Neonatal Nurse. The reason as to why I want to become a
baby nurse isn t really exciting. I want to be a neonatal nurse because it sounds really interesting and it
sounds like something I would actually enjoy doing for the rest of my life. Since I really want to
become a nurse I would have to create a couple habits in order to obtain my goal. The first habit I
would have to make is learning to listen to people better. I struggle with this because my brain is
always wondering off and I can t stay focused for a long time. I know they make medication for it and
I have it, I just don t take it even though I should. Another habit I would need to create is working
better with others. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Water is probably my biggest fear. Not drinking water but giant body of water, like the ocean or a
lake. For some odd reason I always think I am going to drown every time I get in any type of body of
water. I think that if I am going to try and become less scared of water I need to learn how to do some
stuff first. First, I probably need to learn to swim. I know how to Doggy Paddle but I don t think that
counts when it comes to swimming Atlantic or Pacific. Another thing I need to do is try not to worry
as much when I go out on a boat or just go swimming. I get so stressed to the point that I can t even
have fun because I am so worried of drowning. I plan to reach my goals by doing a couple of things.
How I plan on learning to swim is I m going swim more in the summer in a swimming pool. I would
go to a swimming class but I went to one when I was four, five, and six and it didn t get me anywhere.
The second thing that I am going to do is learn how to relax. Learning how to relax is going to be
harder than learning to swim because I stress over the smallest

Application At Queens University At The University Of...
Order and structure gives me a sense of direction. Process makes me comfortable. The steps and
process taught in Intro to Coaching Theories and Application at Queens University provided me a
logical path for taking a client through a productive coaching conversation. Truthfully, while the
process is straight forward and simple, the execution was not as easy as it looked. But I trusted the
process and with a help of a gracious volunteer coaching client, I m growing into a better coach.
Finding a coachable client made the following the process easier and perhaps a better experience for
the client. My client, Geneva, is a Project Manager in the Human Relations Department at the
University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. She s a co worker of my daughter, Kathleen,
who suggested that Geneva would be a good volunteer coachee for this project. Kathleen made a brief
introduction and then I followed up with an email to Geneva explaining the project and asking about
her interest in participation. She eagerly accepted my invitation and we set up our first coaching
session. The first meeting laid some important ground work for our future interactions. In advance of
that first session, I sent Geneva some thought starter questions. These questions were designed to help
me get to know Geneva a little better and customize my coaching style in ways that would benefit her.
What had been her experience with coaching? What were her strengths? How did she

Intelligence Vs And Isaac Asimov s Theory Of Multiple...
Most everyone who has undergone public schooling and standardized testing is familiar with the
thought Does this test even assess any real ability? . Generally, people who don t perform well on
these tests either believe that standardized testing only works for people who are book smart or that
standardized testing does not work at all. But what is book smart anyway? Some people tend to
generalize intelligence into two categories, people who are book smart and people who are street
smart , as exemplified in Isaac Asimov s What is Intelligence, Anyway? . In Asimov s excerpt, he tells
the story of a young woman who performed well when it came to standardized testing, but realized
that she was not street smart. When she went to her mechanic to fix her car, he asks her a trick
question and, when she answers incorrectly, says that he knew she would get it wrong because she was
so book smart that there was no way she was street smart (122 123). This leads to the distinction that
book smart refers to idealized and theoretical intelligence, while street smart refers to a type of hands
on intelligence. While this is a common way for people to view intelligence, there exists an even more
thorough examination of intelligence Howard Gardner s Theory of Multiple Intelligences which
outlines as many as nine types of intelligence. Bearing in mind that there are so many different types
of intelligence, it begs the question of whether or not standardized testing can really be a good

  • 2. The Theory Of Light And Its Effects On The Human Eyes Light, a concept that has been worked with for many years dating back to 500 B.C. Pythagoras hypothesized that humans perceive light due to the human eyes ability to emit rays upon the environment and the emittance gives a human his or her sight (Sekuler). Afterward, human intellectuals started making it more concise to present day knowledge of light. This development of light came from two intellectuals named Christian Huygens and Isaac Newton. Newton exclaimed during the 1700s that light was a stream of particles carrying energy but Huygens, Newton s contemporary, thought that light needed this invisible ether in order for these streams to make light travel. Then, a couple hundred years later, modern scientists such as Albert Einstein, Thomas Young, and Augustin Fresnel proved Isaac s and Huygens hypotheses of light (Rossing, 23 24). This is how the basis of light was created. With today s science, light becomes more specifically perceived as a spectrum. The specific name for this spectrum is the electromagnetic spectrum, which contains many types of waves (NASA, Electromagnetic Spectrum). In Figure 2, the spectrum shows a variety of wavelengths with specific wavelengths classified by its length. The range of wavelengths humans can see wavelengths that are around 400 700 nanometers (nm) as colors while all other electromagnetic waves are simply blind to humans. The interesting classes for light that are used to measure are microwave and infrared light. The laser is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Fossil Fuels Are Bad For Our Environment Fossil fuels are bad for our environment, and in a economy that is struggling, there is no point in pouring billions of dollars a year into an energy source that is killing our other resources. This kind of spending and reckless destruction of our environment will eventually have to stop. The question is, when it does what will we do? There are many other forms of alternative energy that are accessible to us right now. These energy sources will eventually have to be used in the place of burning fossil fuels to power our world. People have become so accustomed to the idea that burning fossil fuels is okay because that s how it has always been . Even as I am writing this, and researching why it has to stop, I am not in a panic because these warnings about our planets future health have been preached to me for a long time. Someday, though, we won t have a choice to ignore this issue any longer. The limiting factor on humans fossil fuel use will not be the exhaustion of economically recoverable fossil fuels, but the exhaustion of the Earth s capacity to withstand the harmful byproducts of fossil fuel combustion. Jeffrey Rissman. Rissman believes, like I do, that there will come a time that burning fossil fuels won t be an option. When this time comes solar energy is the way to turn. Solar energy is the best alternative energy source to power our homes and businesses for the future. One of the major setbacks of using solar energy is the cost. It is expensive to ... • 4. Christmas Music In Christmas A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season. However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported. Kaching of Christmas But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said. Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion. If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, the sample size was small for the study, leading to question the unreliability and perhaps overstating the outcome of the mobilization campaigns. This study did find that for competitive races the likelihood of voter turnout increased 5% and those voters were likely to contribute money. They also determined that those running the campaigns were most likely to target those who had resources, or were affiliated with parties, and had strong social networks. They concluded that those with certain associations were easier to be mobilized to vote. The door knockers who were also of the younger generation and mainly college students used the scripts of civic duty and that the race was very close. The study suggested that the younger group may have been mobilized to vote by the door knockers who were also in this same age group. The study found that the civic duty script had a slightly higher outcome. The study showed that mobilizing voters wasn t very good. It was however noted that this was a high profile competitive election with many others from the candidate campaigns, the political parties, and other interest groups also conducting direct mailings, television ads, and door knockers. Thus those that had been assigned to the treatment group of this study to receive no contact had been contacted by others also out campaigning. A 2006, study of direct mail by Gerber, Kessler and Meredith was done to determine the campaign efforts using direct mail on voter turnout and vote share. In this study the control group was the governor and secretary of state concentrating the direct mailings for Attorney General. The findings indicated that the increasing of direct mailings by 10 percentage points did increase the Attorney General s vote share by 1.5 percentage points. The thought of this increase was the possibility that voters who were planning on voting were persuaded to change whom they were voting for or that it persuaded voters to actually go to the polls to vote. • 8. Button Button Analysis In, Button, Button, the author, Richard Matheson introduces Norma and Arthur Lewis. The button causes temptations that lead to conflicts between the two characters. In the narrative, Mr. Steward arrives at the house and tells them about the button. If one of them pushes the button, someone will die, and they will receive a grand total of $50,000. This causes a dramatic conflict between the two. It brings the worst out of the two of them, causing jealousy, selfishness, and acquisitiveness. Norma has to make a decision whether to press the button or not. She contemplates and then eventually to press the button. Matheson uses dialogue, inner thinking, description, and symbolism to develop the central conflicts in the story and to accentuate how relationships break off even in the best circumstances. Richard Matheson uses dialogue to develop conflict in the story. The use of dialogue is utilized to represent situational irony. In Button, Button the text states: You said I wouldn t know the one that died. My dear lady... Do you really think you knew your husband? (Matheson 111). Additionally, this conversation indicates the situational irony revealed by between the two characters: Norma and Mr. Steward. Mrs. Lewis didn t believe her husband would be the one that dies. The Legal Establishment Of Two Individuals Creating Vows The legal establishment of two individuals creating vows to commit to each other defines what marriage is, it may just be more than just the paperwork and the ceremonies; but two people having a mindset and a lifestyle with another person in their interest. It could be affection, or it could be expectation like it was centuries ago. Either way, a relationship between a man and a woman creating vows and committing to each other begin and end with specific expectations, a lifestyle change, and somebodies perfect image of that special someone. Today, being married means a lot to live up too; loyalty, dependability, cooperation, and a joined effort especially within the household. Lifestyles may change whether it s the man or the wife and it can depend on who has the money, the job, and the ability to survive. Meaning one or the other have to be willing to live differently for their special someone. Also most of the time, usually by the man, a person is imagined in their heads the perfect person who they are married too.. First, a marriage begins with expectations especially in the 20th through the 21st century. Like the movies describe, woman stays home raising the kids, making dinner, making sure the house is clean, and taking care of her husband while he works and earns the money to survive and keep the household running. The identity goes back to generations and it doesn amp;#8217;t start or change within the individual. It is an evolutionary process where each person brings upon some changes. Well there is a saying that is when you work hard it will play off, and in the story Marble Champ by Gary Soto the main character, Lupe Merdrano never stopped working hard and it lead her to a big prize at the end. The reasons for this is that she was not good at sports first, then she practiced and practised, then it all paid off in the future. In the first little part of the story lupe the main character seems to not be very good at sports. But the thing is she would say to herself I will never be good at sports. From a scientific perspective Adler s main core of personality has to do with striving for superiority, this idea was to help those who have a sense of helplessness or the means of not having the ability to overcome any situation (inferiority complex). In addition to that, Adler wanted to give those who followed a sense of community. Moreover, Adler became a pioneer in his profession, which is something to be admired. With numerous forces pulling in opposite directions, making the right choices can become confusing. In this case, the mayor of the city is pushing for budget cuts and is even welcoming the idea of privatizing various public services. By switching to a private insurance system the mayor will be pleased, however the employees and unions will not be pleased. Though the city does not need to please the employees and can implement whatever policy they want, that does not suggest that they should not consider the implications it holds for their employees. Factors that add to employee dissatisfaction include: company policy and administration, supervision, salary, interpersonal relations, and working conditions (Starling, 2011, p. 357). According to this theory, simply eliminating job dissatisfiers is not enough, what truly motivates employees more effectively are job satisfiers. In order to motivate employees, managers should lessen the amount of dissatisfiers and increase the amount of satisfiers (Starling, 2011). Luckily in this case, the privatization of health benefits falls under the dissatisfiers of company policy and administration. Therefore, even though the employees are upset with the decision to privatize, the human resources director can still motivate employees by lessening the other dissatisfiers and by focusing more on increasing the satisfiers for employees such as giving them more recognition and responsibility. Following the idea of satisfaction in the workplace, even though the city has the ability to implement whichever policy it prefers regardless of the employees thoughts that does not imply that the city should take this route. Employees are motivated when management includes them in the decision making process. According to the human relations approach, workers are more motivated and satisfied when there are positive relations between management and workers (Starling, 2011). • 41. Intelligence Vs And Isaac Asimov s Theory Of Multiple... Most everyone who has undergone public schooling and standardized testing is familiar with the thought Does this test even assess any real ability? . Generally, people who don t perform well on these tests either believe that standardized testing only works for people who are book smart or that standardized testing does not work at all. But what is book smart anyway? Some people tend to generalize intelligence into two categories, people who are book smart and people who are street smart , as exemplified in Isaac Asimov s What is Intelligence, Anyway? . In Asimov s excerpt, he tells the story of a young woman who performed well when it came to standardized testing, but realized that she was not street smart. When she went to her mechanic to fix her car, he asks her a trick question and, when she answers incorrectly, says that he knew she would get it wrong because she was so book smart that there was no way she was street smart (122 123). This leads to the distinction that book smart refers to idealized and theoretical intelligence, while street smart refers to a type of hands on intelligence. While this is a common way for people to view intelligence, there exists an even more thorough examination of intelligence Howard Gardner s Theory of Multiple Intelligences which outlines as many as nine types of intelligence. Bearing in mind that there are so many different types of intelligence, it begs the question of whether or not standardized testing can really be a good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
