Theme Of Religion In The Iliad
Homer clearly and precisely depicts the religion and the ethics of the Achean and Trojan societies in
The Iliad. In The Iliad, the Greeks and Trojans struggled to adhere to the codes of religion and ethics,
of their society. The Iliad is an epic poem dedicated to the pursuit of honour and name immortality
through fame by humans who were inevitably mortal. During the time of the Trojan war, religion
played an important role in the societies. Sacrifice, prayer, and rituals were all equally significant, and
the superiority of the gods and the fates above humans was a standard of society. The gods were
sacred deities to whom one had to bestow honour and respect. Within the society, honour, glory, and
fame were desperately sought by warriors striving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men showed physical greatness and honour in everything. In war time, they were to be great soldiers;
in peace time, great athletes. The Greeks promoted honour, bravery, courage, and nobility. Throughout
the Iliad, by Homer, one of the most important aspects of society was warfare. In fact, not only were
the ongoing wars at the center of the plot and action in the text, but warfare itself was one of the
strongest social forces detectable. For men who shun the warrior culture or for some reason do not
fully engage with it, they face being criticizism. Being a coward or declining an opportunity to engage
in war or battles in the society portrayed in the Iliad was one of the worst possible ways for any male
to be as it goes against much of what notions of masculinity is defined by. Generally speaking,
throughout the text there were a range of events and interactions between characters that reveal the
expectations of this masculine warrior culture and these passages also reflect the importance of
adhering to these societal expectations. In Greek culture, the notions of masculinity and bravery, along
with the idea of fatalism (in terms of how men will eventually die, so they should be brave and fight
with all their strength and power),shaped several encounters and events in the text and defined several
characters as either weak or

Reflection Paper On The Teaching Of Santa
Things aren t always black and white and the decisions we make as parents are often a result of our
own heartaches and pains. Which is why to answer the question as to why we did, what we did,
concerning the teaching of Santa comes in the form of a story for me.
For me, as a parent, my goal was for my children to know the truth and to live a life of truth. I wanted
my kids to love Jesus more than life itself. I wanted them to know and experience the life in Christ I
had come to know as teenager in a miserable spot. I knew the King of Kings and Lord of Lord and
wanted that to be the center of our home. I knew if they knew the truth, the truth would set them free.
When I was little I had a brother and a sister and real parents. My real parents taught me about Santa
Claus. The night before Christmas we put out a glass of milk and a plate of cookies. Christmas
morning the milk was partially gone and all the cookies were gone except a little moon shaped sliver,
proof that Santa had come and that he was real and of course, then there were presents wrapped under
the Christmas tree.
There was so much excitement that one Christmas Eve at bedtime I couldn t settle down. I could see
down the hall right into our living room. Switching places with my little brother, who slept at the
opposite end of the bunk bed, was the remedy for my restlessness and I quickly fell asleep. The next
morning he told me he saw Santa Claus.. I asked what he looked like and how he got in. He

Smart Antenna System Essay
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Antenna Systems:
Depending on the number of antennas used in the transmitting and receiving sections, the systems are
divided into 4 types.
1.1.1 SINGLE INPUT SINGLE OUTPUT (SISO): Fig 1.1.1: SISO
In SISO, there will be only single transmitter and a single receiver. This is the general system which
we use. The simplest antenna technology is SISO. In some environments, this system is vulnerable to
problems caused by multipath effects. When an electromagnetic field (EM field) is met with
obstructions such as hills, buildings, utility wires, and canyons the wavefronts are scattered, and thus it
take multi paths to reach the destination. Fading, cut out (cliff effect), and intermittent reception
(picket fencing) are the problems caused by late arrival of scattered portion of signals. In a digital
communications system, it cause a reduction of data speed and number of errors is increased.
In order to eliminate or minimize problems caused by multipath wave propagation, a new technology
has been introduced and it is Smart Antenna Technology. There are three forms of smart antenna,
known as SIMO (single input, multiple output), MISO (multiple input, single output), and MIMO
(multiple input, multiple output).
1.1.2 SINGLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT (SIMO) : Fig 1.1.2 : SIMO
In SIMO, there will be only single transmitter and many receivers.
1.1.3. MULTIPLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT ( MISO): Fig. 1.1.3 : MISO
In MISO there will be multiple transmitters and a

Cannibalism And Its Effects On Today s Modern Society
Cannibalism, also more formally known as anthropophagy, can be defined as the act of ingesting
human flesh, blood or internal organs by a human being. The reasons behind cannibalism vary from
being ritualistic to psychopathic and the practice manifests itself in many different forms. Often
profoundly fantasised by Western society as the man eating myth (Arens 1979, in King 2000, p.106),
cannibalism as a result has become subject to critical speculation and lingering doubt.
This essay argues that although cannibalism is often conceptualised in today s modern society as a
myth, there is much anthropophagical evidence to suggest otherwise; that cannibalism is indeed an
underlying reality. In support of this contention, this essay aims ... Show more content on

Typically associated with sacred beliefs and matters related to the spiritual regeneration of the
deceased, including respect and honour (Carbonell et al. 2010, p.539), endo cannibalism denotes an
affectionate form of anthropophagy in which the consumed individuals were members of the same
social or kinship group as those who consume them. In stark contrast, exo cannibalism, otherwise
known as warfare cannibalism, refers to the consumption of strangers, enemies, foreign individuals
beyond the tribe and usually signifies expressions of hostility, violence, and contempt and may
indicate a clear predator/prey relationship between the consumers and the consumed (Carbonell et al.
2010, p.539).
Up until sometime during the late 1960s, the Amazonian Wari ate specific parts of their late in laws
(affines ) bodies and they did so out of compassion for the deceased and their immediate family; to
gratify the former and console the latter. Endo cannibalism was a grieving mechanism through which
the bereaved came to terms with their loss and carried on living without being perpetually made sad
by the presence of a rotting body in the cold, desolate earth. Opposed to the pervasive,
functionalist/cultural materialistic perspective that cannibals eat human flesh solely for a scientific
nutritional purpose for the same reason as others eat domestic animal flesh (Harris 1977, in Sahlins
1978, p.45), Wari mortuary

Families Portrayed In Roddy Doyles Books Essays
Families Portrayed In Roddy Doyle s Books
Why do we hear so much about family these days? Perhaps it is because relationships between family
members are assumed to be the prototype for all other social relations. In the novels, The
Commitments, The Snapper and The Van,
Roddy Doyle shows his support of the family as an institution. Each character demonstrates strength
and direction within the family unit. However, when the stability of the family is threatened, each
character breaks down along with the family itself.
When we think of family life we associate happiness, a life of sharing memories and developing
unbreakable friendships. It is easy to create a family that is make ... Show more content on

He describes his writing as quot;a challenge that s the enjoyable part. To an extent, that s what
happened with all my books because I ve never experienced any of the subjects I write about. I used to
be a ten year old boy, but I certainly didn t watch my parents marriage disintegrate. I was never in a
band, I ve never been pregnant and I ve never been unemployed for a day in my life. quot;3 It is
shown that Doyle has strong family values. In his writing he clearly demonstrates that if one family
member falls, it effects the rest of the family. In The Commitments, throughout the entire novel, the
band acts like a family. As the manager, Jimmy plays the role of the father figure and trys to keep the
band reaching higher levels, together. But, as members begin to fight

Semi-Barbaric King
Once there was a semi barbaric king who used his riches to get whatever he and himself wanted. The
king decided to make a coliseum the would determine the fate of a criminal accused of committing a
crime. After the king had made the laws for his entertainment it was announced to him by a bystander
that his lovely daughter that he loved greatly, had fallen in love with someone unworthy . The princess
loved, the man she loved by knowing he was handsome, strong, and the most brave someone could be.
The king had been filled with rage when he heard of it s knowability. It took the king merely the blink
of an eye to order the young man that his daughter swooned over to be sent to prison. A date was set
for the man s trial in the king s coliseum. The king had interviewed every worthy woman to marry the
prisoner, and choose the maiden the princess had hate with burning passion. The princess had paid the
worker to tell her what door the tiger was going to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The princess was also mad because she swore she saw him making googly eyes at the woman. I also
think that the person she paid to tell her the doors might have lied to her, or maybe did not know the
truth about doors and she chose the wrong one. The princess was also semi barbaric like her father, so
she thought if i can t have him she definitely cannot. In the story it states that she came from a long
line of semi barbaric ancestors. The princess did indeed love the man but did not live him enough to
let him live and possibly be happy with another woman. The princess hated the lady gratefully,
because she was beautiful and had batted an eyelash at her young man. The man had also batted an
eyelash back at the woman. The princess claims that she had seen her man and the mysterious lady

My Life Changed Life And A Red Sweatshirt
I stepped off the bus with a changed life and a red sweatshirt. I know what you may be thinking, and
no, the sweatshirt didn t change my life. The sweatshirt did look pretty nice though it was a lovely
deep maroon with two white triangles that overlapped. But anyways, the design of the sweatshirt (no
matter how cool) is irrelevant.
The life changing event occurred just this past weekend, and I unfortunately, cannot narrow it down to
a precise moment. Ever since the day of the winter retreat was announced, I had been counting down
the days until December 9th. I was ready to spend time with my friends in my small group, and I was
even a little excited that my crush would be there too (even though I have yet to work up the courage

I was nervous because our small group always consisted of girls in my grade, and now we were going
to have co ed small group for the weekend. Unfortunately, my crush wasn t in my group, but that was
okay. There were four boys, all from a rivaling school, and Sydney and I were the only girls. Small
groups with the boys was drastically different to what I was used to. In our all girl group, we would
talk on and on about random tangents. With the boys, their answers were short, and part way through
they would get restless and start walking around the spacious room.
Our first small group consisted of basic get to know you questions. When asked what store we would
spend $1,000 at, I said a music store, Sydney said Hot Topic, and all the boys said varying sporting
goods stores. It was a little awkward, but by the end of the weekend we all talked a bit more freely
amongst each other.
When small group ended, we went to the tabernacle for group worship. After singing a couple of
songs, the youth pastor came up and introduced us to who would be speaking for the weekend. The
man who taught us had also gone to our church growing up. He told us that he was once exactly where
we were. He launched into the message, where he talked about Peter laying down his fishing nets to
go follow Jesus. He then had us each take a notecard and write down what our nets , or things holding
us back from having a close relationship with God, and then put them up on

Compared To The Germanic Tribe Of The Vandals
In addition, here it should be mentioned that the term of Vandalism applied in this book does not refer
to the historic Germanic tribe of the Vandals, who were Arian Christians, i.e., who did not believe in
the divinity of Ben Pandera (dubbed: Jesus Christ ). Like later Islam, the Vandals granted freedom for
religion for the believers in Christ as a god. This was their death. The believers in Christ as a god
either forced others to believe in the concoctions of theirs or killed them bestially. For instance, the
Vandals siege of Rome in the fifth century compared to the sacking of the believers in Christ as a god
of Jerusalem in the year 1099 was a trifle. The Vandals only filched goods, e.g., gold, silver and other

Essay about The History of Rock
The History of Rock
As one of the most popular music genres, rock music has grown and expanded to incorporate many
styles throughout the years. A rock band usually consists of a vocalist, an acoustic drum kit played
with a strong beat, usually a back beat, and features electric and acoustic guitars. From its beginnings
in the late 1950s and early 1960s until the present day, rock has changed styles seemingly every
decade as new bands become popular because of their unique style of music. Throughout the years
rock has influenced our culture and helped shape the world we live in today.
Rock and roll was born in the late 1950s. Primary influenced from southern artists like Elvis Presley
and Bill Haley, this new genre of music though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to the involvement of orchestral instruments in rock.
Punk rock became popular due to the record industry s split from the major recording companies.
Smaller independent recording labels indorsed underground artists. This divided mainstream rock, like
Elvis Presley, and alternative rock, like The Grateful Dead. Other hard rock groups that got there start
in the 1970s were Kiss, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Rush, Journey, and Van Halen.
The mid to late 1970s brought about a slow but steady change in punk rock. With the advent of heavy
metal and punk rock bands an explosion of new rock genres emerged. The change was started by three
bands from New York. The New York Dolls, the Dictators and the Ramones started a new trend that
quickly spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. It slowly caught on in the US and when it
finally did the hardcore form of punk rock became a national expression for millions of teens and
young adults for the next two decades.
The merging of heavy metal and punk rock was bound to happen. Although attempted in 1978 by the
Ramones, bands from Las Angeles became the first to successfully complete the crossover into punk
metal.
In the early 1980s, alternative rock bands like REM began to get a lot of airtime on college radio
stations and appearances on MTV and other TV settings. Before long numerous alternative radio
stations appeared

The Construction Of Smart Grid
Introduction:
Improve the efficiency of power supply have become crucial to satisfying the demands of people
increasing day by day in the life and the development of social production. The world has accelerated
the development of smart grid technology and effectively promote the smart power grid. The Smart
grid has become the new trend of the future power grid development [1]. The construction of smart
grid is based on economic development, to meet the needs of people, and it is the inevitable result of
advanced science and technology development to a certain degree. State Grid Corporation proposed to
speed up the construction of high voltage network power grid as the backbone network, with
informatization, automation, interactive of characteristics of the coordinated development of power at
all levels of the strong and smart grid, and strive to achieve the power grid from the traditional power
grid to a high effective, economical, clean and interaction of modern power grid upgrades and cross,
actively promoting clean energy development, focusing on from generation, transmission, substation,
power distribution, power, scheduling, communication information, seven aspects such as to study the
key technology of Intelligent power grid [3]. A Smart grid includes STG (Smart Transmission Grid)
and SDG (Smart Distribution Grid). A lot of literature introduced smart grid basic concepts and
techniques, but per the literature of SDG is relatively small. Smart Distribution Grid

Human Characteristics Of Danann
The Tuatha Dé Danann were among the mythical races who inhabited Ireland before the advent of the
ancestors of modern Gael known as Gaels. Tuatha Dé Danann were the posterities of goddess Danu
(Clark 371). They were also a race of heroes and deities. When Tuatha Dé Danann arrived, Ireland
was far from unoccupied. They were the fifth group to settle in Ireland. Some of the settlers were
human whereas others such as Danann were more than mortal ranging from descendants of other Gods
to spirits of the land. According to The Ages of the World the first settlers in Ireland was a race of men
before the Biblical Flood, and they have led a woman known as Cessair who was alleged to be Noah s
daughter. The flood killed all of them apart from Fintan mac Bochra who able to escape by changing
into a salmon. Danann bear both human and divine characteristics.

When Tuatha Dé Danann landed in Ireland, dense clouds masked their arrival. The druids (Tuatha s
religious leaders) blew rain clouds and fog over the entire island. The blown clouds released fire and
torrent of blood upon Fir Bolgs which caused them to hide in sheltered areas for three nights and three
days. The Fir Bolgs religious leaders cleared the air by carrying out the magic spell. Lastly, the two
races declared a 105 days truce so as to provide sufficient time for both sides to prepare for war. By
using their great magic and skills, Tuatha Dé Danann won their first war

Teenagers On After-school Jobs Essays
Almost every teenager wants a job, yet many people are against it. I believe teenagers should have
after school jobs for a number of reasons. First, having a son or a daughter that works can financially
help the parents. Also, the experience the teenager will acquire from after school jobs will help him or
her on future jobs. Finally, teenagers should have after school jobs because it will keep them away
from trouble. Parents should realize that as long as their son or daughter wants an after school job and
it does not affect his or her performance at school, they should let their child have one.
Usually, families that have financial problems have their teenage children go to work. Having an extra

By having a job a teenager can save up for college, to buy a car, to buy a stereo, etc. Teenagers feel
free when they have a job: they can spend their own money on whatever they want without feeling
guilty. In addition to helping his family, having a job at an early age can help for future jobs.
When many people apply for an important job, the employer will most likely choose the person who
has the most working experience. People who have had a job since their teenage years will know how
to deal with the stress and the work better than new people. They will be able to cope with job related
problems. This reason is very significant for teenagers who choose not to go to college, and their only
reason for getting employed is experience. Yet, the most important reason is that jobs keep teenagers
away from violence.
Jobs are very time consuming. If a teenager works and goes to school, he will probably not have time
to join a gang or get into fights. Nowadays more and more employees are getting drug tested at their
jobs. If a teenager likes his job or needs to work, he will not do drugs because he will get fired.
Furthermore, if a teenager receives a paycheck he will spend his earned money instead of stealing. A
job can lead a teenager to a better lifestyle and a healthier life.
I think teenagers should have after school jobs.

Dna Ligase Essay
In humans, three major types of DNA ligases are reported: DNA ligase I (hligI), DNA ligase III
(hligIII) and DNA ligase IV (hligIV). hligI plays an important role in DNA replication by joining
Okazaki fragments on the lagging strand of DNA. Apart from this it also plays important roles in DNA
damage repair pathways, single strand breaks are repaired by nucleotide excision repair (NER) and
base excision repair (BER) pathways. Results of preclinical studies support that Human DNA ligases
are an attractive target for the development of new anticancer agents for selective inhibition against
rapidly proliferating cancer cells. In this mini review, we will provide a brief discourse of the recently

Shenmue 3 breaks Kickstarter
Whilst some might say that Kickstarter is little more than an unnecessary middle man, many others

The game s monumental Kickstarter success raises a number of interesting questions, chief amongst
which is whether or not we ll see the model being adopted by larger companies and larger projects It
also raises a point that Kickstarter campaigns have almost become their own form of free viral

their number) and the media. Questions also remain surrounding Sony s involvement with the project.
The game was announced to the world at large during their press conference at this year s E3 (which I

Kickstarter page seems to focus more on the PC version of the game. If Sony if partly funding the

Chivalry Bias/Sentencing differences between male and female offenders
Geisy Cobas
Radford University
It is a question many have, whether or not there is a gender bias in the criminal justice system of
America, and even other countries. Are female offenders treated less strictly than male offenders by
officers of the law and even the courts? This paper will review articles related to the topic of male and
female offenders sentencing differences. The term chivalry means to treat others, women especially
with courtesy, sympathy and respect. The chivalry theory, which comes from the mindset of treating
women like higher beings, states that women offenders are treated more leniently than men by the

Lyons published an article about the sentencing discrepancies between male and female sex offenders.
The research represented in this article examines the evil woman hypothesis, and examines sentencing
discrepancies between male sex offenders and female sex offenders. The evil women hypothesis states
that women offenders often receive harsher punishment than men in the criminal justice system, on the
grounds that they have not only violated legal laws but also society s gender expectations. (Chesney
Lind, 1984; Erez, 1992). However, research proves the opposite for female sex offenders. This article
by the Feminist Criminology Journal used the National Corrections Reporting Program data to
identify registered male and female sex offenders for the years 1994 to 2004, and the sentences they
received for specific sex offenses. The data gathered revealed a significant difference in sentence
length between men and women sex offenders. The evil woman hypothesis would assume women are

What is outsourcing Essay
What is Outsourcing? It is a method in which companies subcontract labor and support to outside
agencies (Klepper, 1997). How, why, and who companies outsource to are quickly becoming social
topics of discussion in our society. Everyone seems to have an opinion on outsourcing. I bet that I can
walk into a social gathering right now and hear discussions like outsourcing is good for the American
consumer or outsourcing takes jobs away from all of the hard working Americans. In either case,
outsourcing has raised great concerns over its effects on the American economy. In this paper, I will

Also, it may be more expensive to outsource. Sometimes it is cheaper to keep a process in house as
compared to outsourcing. Security and confidentiality concerns may arise, especially with payroll and
confidential information such as salary (Earl, 1996).
BPO is similar to information technology outsourcing but includes outsourcing related to accounting,
HR, benefits, payroll, and finance functions and activities (Embleton, 1998). Business Process
Outsourcing (BPO) is a decision to subcontract some or all important, non core, business processes.
This allows companies to invest its time, talent, and capital on basic business strategies that help
company growth. Better and more affordable services become available for consumers and taxpayers
(Embleton, 1998). Outsourcing allows companies to operate on an around the clock, 24/7 production
cycle, further adding to productivity (Embleton, 1998).
No matter what type of outsourcing a company uses, there is a see saw effect, someone on the high
and low end. There are pros, cons, positives and negatives. For example, if you are a cost cutting
director at a competitive company, the mention of outsourcing, especially offshore, may bring a smile
to your face. For computer programmers, call center workers, or factory workers the reaction is likely
to be more negative. The primary pro is that outsourcing jobs outside of the U.S. may help to

Quentin Tarantino Essay
Quentin Tarantino Blood, gore, and a lot of language; you will find this is most Quentin Tarantino
movies. Although, this is what makes him such a writer and director. Quentin Tarantino is not only a
fantastic screenplay writer, but he also pushes the limit of intense plots of drama, and mostly violence.
As a great director, who changes the world of filmmaking, Quentin Tarantino is one of the most
unique directors/writers, today. Born March 27, 1963, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Quentin Jerome

This is an amazing achievement, and it is astonishing, with his lack of education. The movies that
Tarantino makes are not just violent, but have a great storyline, which he writes. His most famous
movies include: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill Vol. 1 2, and the
newest one, Inglourious Basterds (IMDb). Other, less famous ones are: Jackie Brown and Grindhouse
(a double feature consisting of Planet Terror, and Death Proof) (IMDb). To this day, people still talk
about how great of a movie Pulp Fiction is. These movies are well known for their graphic violence,
and sometimes profanity. Most violence in Tarantino s movies is of shootings, but not in all cases. In
Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction the violence consists of graphic, detailed, hard to watch gun scenes.
These are exceptionally gory, and are usually on screen. In his Kill Bill series, it is mostly death by
sword, the weapon of choice for the main character. Inglourious Basterds is a whole different ball
field. No pun intended, since a man is beaten to death with a baseball bat in this particular movie. The
deaths vary from graphic shootings, with lots of blood splatter, to carving swastikas into men s heads,
to shooting an already dead man s face apart in explicit, extremely life like detail. The twisted mind of
Quentin Tarantino allows him to write, direct, and watch these scenes with no sort of cringe, but

Today s Economical Problems (An analysis of why the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting

ten percent, the highest level in almost 30 years; foreclosures have forced millions of Americans out of

The same idea can be applied to conversions from dBm to mW when a dBm value is not readily
available in the 3 s and 10 s rules table.
For instance, what is 13 dBm in mW?
First, 13 dBm = 0 dBm + 10 dBm + 3 dBm, where 0 dBm, 10 dBm, and 3 dBm are in the table.
Next, let s apply the following 3 s and 10 s rules:
· 0 dBm = 1 mW
· When the dBm value increases by adding 10, the mW value increases by the factor of 10.
· When the dBm value increases by adding 3, the mW value increases by the factor of 2.
Finally, we have 13 dBm = 0 dBm + 10 dBm + 3 dBm = 1 mW × 10 × 2 = 20 mW.

Effect Of Birth Order On Personality
Effect of birth order on achievement motivation and personality development
INTRODUCTION
Birth order:
Birth order refers to the order a child is born in their family; first born and second born are examples.
Birth order is often believed to have a profound and lasting effect on psychological development and
achievements. (Rodgers, Cleveland, Van Den, Rowe, 2000)
Psychological birth order is defined as the way a person sees or perceives his or her position in his or
her family of origin. Alfred Adler believed that birth order was the way a child interpreted his or her
perceived positions in the family, which is the most important to him or her. (Kalkan, 2008) In 1874,
Francis Galton the youngest of nine siblings analyzed a sample of English scientists to find that first
born were over represented and find that eldest sons enjoy special treatment by their parents, allowing
them to thrive intellectually. Half a century later, Alfred Adler (1870 1937), the second of six children,
suggest that birth order influences personality. According to him, the oldest, middle and the youngest

Among the general public, it is widely believed that personality is strongly influenced by birth order,
but many psychologists has put forward their reservations. One modern theory of personality states
that the Big Five personality traits of Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and
Neuroticism represent most of the important elements of personality that can be measured (John,
Srivastava,1999). Contemporary empirical research shows that birth order does not influence the Big
Five personality traits. (Rohrer, Julia, Egloff, Boris, Schmukle, Stefan,

ABSTRACT
The influence the social media, self esteem, diet and sex have on body image dissatisfaction was
investigated using a multiple regression method. The four predictor variables were sex; social media;
diet; and self esteem, the criterion variable was body image dissatisfaction. The study consisted of 50
participants, 35 females and 15 males. All participants were given a self report questionnaire, which
contained 16 questions that measured the four predictor variables and the criterion variable. The
findings revealed that the social media, diet and self esteem had a significant relationship with body
image dissatisfaction, however sex was a non significant predictor of body image dissatisfaction. The
results imply that the social media, low self esteem and dieting results to high levels of body image
dissatisfaction.

Some solid waste can also be converted to a liquid waste form for disposal. It includes point source
and non point source discharges such as storm water and wastewater. Examples of liquid waste
include wash water from homes, liquids used for cleaning in industries and waste detergents.
Solid type:
Solid waste predominantly, is any garbage, refuse or rubbish that we make in our homes and other
places. These include old car tires, old newspapers, broken furniture and even food waste. They may
include any waste that is non liquid.
Hazardous type:
Hazardous or harmful waste are those that potentially threaten public health or the environment. Such
waste could be inflammable (can easily catch fire), reactive (can easily explode), corrosive (can easily
eat through metal) or toxic (poisonous to human and animals). In many countries, it is required by law
to involve the appropriate authority to supervise the disposal of such hazardous waste. Examples
include fire extinguishers, old propane tanks, pesticides, mercury containing equipment (e.g,
thermostats) and lamps (e.g. fluorescent bulbs) and batteries.
Organic type:
Organic waste comes from plants or animals sources. Commonly, they include food waste, fruit and

Social Networking And Its Effects On Social Media

Networking Misfires With the development of advances in technology, communication through social
networking has risen immensely. Communicating is not only less complicated, it is also relatively
inexpensive. Many teens in relationships view social media as a place where they can feel more
connected with the daily events in there significant other s life, share emotional connections, and let
their significant other know they care (Lenhart, Anderson, and Smith). However, the ease of access to
social networking has allowed many adolescents to become overly involved. Networking has the
potential to influence adolescents both emotionally and physically which in turn may lead to negative
behaviors. An article from procon.org stated, The use of social networking sites is correlated with
personality and brain disorders, such as the inability to have in person conversations, a need for instant

Essentially, social networking has rising negative influences on teens because of increased cyber

With the expansion of higher education, greater attention has to be paid to the labor market prospects
since imbalances may be created between higher education and labor market demands (Kartz Gerro

there is no unemployment insurance or assistance available in the country. Hence an increase in the

Moralism In Huckleberry Finn
Although Twain wrote Huckleberry Finn two decades after the Emancipation Proclamation and the
end of the Civil War, the Southern part of America was then struggling with racism and the
consequences of slavery. By the early 1880s, Reconstruction, the preparation to place the United

although it had not yet failed outright. Mark Twain intends to write the novel to speak for the
suppressed sector to indicate that the Civil War has not introduced any healthy change. The laws were
then designed to curb the influence of blacks in the South. Their aim is to suppress and limit the black

How Did Roman Music Influence Ancient Greek Culture
When a person hears Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome he probably envisions great military battles or
grand columns that adorn every structure. However, music, while not as equally honored as the
Colosseum, still deserves recognition for playing an integral part in citizens lives during ancient times.
While knowledge of ancient Greek and Roman music is limited to fragments of old music scores from
the era, literary references, and the actual remains of musical instruments, society will still benefit
from studying these rich ancient cultures. Obviously, music from both these civilizations are
extremely similar to each other in the role it plays in society and the instruments used due to the
influence of ancient Greece on Rome.
In both cultures, music played a large role in society. In Ancient Greece, music was essential to ...

This high regard for music in life stemmed from Greek mythology itself. For example, Amphion
learned music from the Greek god Hermes and then with a golden lyre, he built Thebes by moving
stones into place with the sound of his playing. There also many references to indicate that music
played an important role in the Greek perception of how their race had come into existence and how
their destinies were controlled by the Gods. Other artistic forms, such as literature, praise music as
well: most of the known Greek poetry and dramas today were sung or accompanied by music in
ancient times. Professional musicians were well respected and people who achieved small
accomplishments in music were regarded as cultural and tasteful.

The Structural Family Therapy On The Family
The identified problems in the family are the lack communication, rigid boundaries, and weak
subsystems within the family. The structural family therapy focuses on the interactions with the family
rather than focusing exclusively on the identified person or patient (Nichols, and Tafuri, 2013). In
addition, through utilizing, the structuralism approach, the family will be able to think beyond
symptomatic behaviors and see their choices and process relationships between group members and
other systems (Vetere, 2003). The family will also be able to broaden their understanding of how each
family member contributes to the problem or communication patterns within the family (Nicols et al.,
2013). Furthermore, based on the research structionalism will encourage the family to problem solve
in a safe therapeutic environment (Vetere, 2003). In therapy, the family will be able to express their
feelings and thoughts without judgments or bias from the therapist.
Moreover, for this particular family, the objectives and treatment will focus on boundaries and
subsystems. Boundaries are useful guidance for the assessment of interactions among family
members. (Ryan, p. 133, 1997). When boundaries become clear the family is able to function healthier
between subsystems. Another objective in treatment will be learning conflict resolution skills.
Structural therapy will focus on encouraging the family to learn to respect one another s opinions and
thoughts. Families can learn the

Montag s Influences in Farenheit 451 Essay
In the novel, FAHRENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury, Guy Montag lives in an inverted society, where
firemen make fires instead of put them out, and pedestrians are used as bowling pins for cars that are
excessively speeding. The people on this society are hypnotized by giant wall size televisions and
seashell radios that are attached to everyone s ears. People in Montag s society do not think for
themselves or even generate their own opinions; everything is given to them by the television stations
they watch. In this society, if someone is in possession of a book, their books are burned by the
firemen, but not only their books, but their entire home. Montag begins realizing that the things in this
society are not right. Montag is influenced and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The psychiatrist wants to know why I go out and hike around in the forests and watch the birds and
collect butterflies (Bradbury, 23). This quotation shows that Clarisse is considered different in this
society, and she must see a psychiatrist because she admires nature. Clarisse influences Montag by
admiring nature, because Montag is now starting to realize the beauty of nature, and beginning to
develop his own opinion. Clarisse strongly influenced Montag after her death. We cannot tell the
precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, that is a last drop
which makes it run over; so in a series of kindness there is at last one which makes the heart run over
(Bradbury, 71) This quotation shows that Montag is starting to have feelings unlike the rest of society.
Clarisse has come to influence Montag through her questions, her admiration of nature and her death.
Clarisse influenced Montag enough to get him to begin having feelings. Although Clarisse influenced
Montag to begin feeling emotions, the fire on Elm Street was a big influence for Montag. Secondly,
the fire at 11 Elm Street greatly influenced Montag. The fire showed Montag how important books
are. The fire also makes Montag curious about why books would be so important that the lady would
die for them. The fire on Elm Street influenced Montag by the lady dying for her books, Montag
stealing the books and his fellow firemen not feeling any remorse. When the lady

The Death Of Meriwether Lewis
The Death of Meriwether Lewis
Meriwether Lewis was one of the travelers that were given the mission of traveling from the colonies
to the Pacific Ocean, The Mission of Discovery . After Lewis got back from the expedition, he was
assigned the role of Governor of The upper half of the Louisiana Purchase. When he was appointed to
this position, he didn t instantly go to do the job though. Actually he spent about half a year trying to
publish the notes he wrote down during the Mission of Discovery. That didn t work out though
because of financial funds. So Lewis came back to Washington D.C. and got ready to go to his part of
the Louisiana territory. But on the way there he stopped at an inn called ... Show more content on

In the position that Lewis supposedly shot himself at wound. Lets say he shot himself in the in the
abdomen. This shot would also have been fatal because it would rupture something in his abdomen
which would also would have been fatal. Therefor it doesn t matter if Lewis shot himself in the head
first or the abdomen. They both would have been fatal. The amount of power that the horse pistols can
generate shows that Lewis would not have been able to shoot himself twice. One shot would have
immobilized him. If it was someone else shooting him that would make sense that there were two
wounds, because someone else could have shot him. But Lewis shooting himself twice just isn t
reasonable due to the amount of damage and the amount of power the guns would give. That is why
Meriwether Lewis was the victim to a murder conspiracy.
Also there is the information from Major James Neelly. Major Neelly was sending a letter to President
Thomas Jefferson about the death of Meriwether Lewis. Major James Neelly was charged with treason
and is a very sketchy person. There has been people who suspect Neelly to be part of the the murder
conspiracy. Neelly was one of the companions that went with Lewis when he was traveling to his part
of the Louisiana Purchase. It says that before they got to the inn the horses ran away and Neelly went
to go catch them. At the time of the death of Lewis, Neelly was supposedly in court in a city about 60
miles away. At the time 2 days by horse.

  • 2. Theme Of Religion In The Iliad Homer clearly and precisely depicts the religion and the ethics of the Achean and Trojan societies in The Iliad. In The Iliad, the Greeks and Trojans struggled to adhere to the codes of religion and ethics, of their society. The Iliad is an epic poem dedicated to the pursuit of honour and name immortality through fame by humans who were inevitably mortal. During the time of the Trojan war, religion played an important role in the societies. Sacrifice, prayer, and rituals were all equally significant, and the superiority of the gods and the fates above humans was a standard of society. The gods were sacred deities to whom one had to bestow honour and respect. Within the society, honour, glory, and fame were desperately sought by warriors striving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men showed physical greatness and honour in everything. In war time, they were to be great soldiers; in peace time, great athletes. The Greeks promoted honour, bravery, courage, and nobility. Throughout the Iliad, by Homer, one of the most important aspects of society was warfare. In fact, not only were the ongoing wars at the center of the plot and action in the text, but warfare itself was one of the strongest social forces detectable. For men who shun the warrior culture or for some reason do not fully engage with it, they face being criticizism. Being a coward or declining an opportunity to engage in war or battles in the society portrayed in the Iliad was one of the worst possible ways for any male to be as it goes against much of what notions of masculinity is defined by. Generally speaking, throughout the text there were a range of events and interactions between characters that reveal the expectations of this masculine warrior culture and these passages also reflect the importance of adhering to these societal expectations. In Greek culture, the notions of masculinity and bravery, along with the idea of fatalism (in terms of how men will eventually die, so they should be brave and fight with all their strength and power),shaped several encounters and events in the text and defined several characters as either weak or ... • 3. Reflection Paper On The Teaching Of Santa Things aren t always black and white and the decisions we make as parents are often a result of our own heartaches and pains. Which is why to answer the question as to why we did, what we did, concerning the teaching of Santa comes in the form of a story for me. For me, as a parent, my goal was for my children to know the truth and to live a life of truth. I wanted my kids to love Jesus more than life itself. I wanted them to know and experience the life in Christ I had come to know as teenager in a miserable spot. I knew the King of Kings and Lord of Lord and wanted that to be the center of our home. I knew if they knew the truth, the truth would set them free. When I was little I had a brother and a sister and real parents. My real parents taught me about Santa Claus. The night before Christmas we put out a glass of milk and a plate of cookies. Christmas morning the milk was partially gone and all the cookies were gone except a little moon shaped sliver, proof that Santa had come and that he was real and of course, then there were presents wrapped under the Christmas tree. There was so much excitement that one Christmas Eve at bedtime I couldn t settle down. I could see down the hall right into our living room. Switching places with my little brother, who slept at the opposite end of the bunk bed, was the remedy for my restlessness and I quickly fell asleep. The next morning he told me he saw Santa Claus.. • 4. Smart Antenna System Essay INTRODUCTION 1.1 Antenna Systems: Depending on the number of antennas used in the transmitting and receiving sections, the systems are divided into 4 types. 1.1.1 SINGLE INPUT SINGLE OUTPUT (SISO): Fig 1.1.1: SISO In SISO, there will be only single transmitter and a single receiver. This is the general system which we use. The simplest antenna technology is SISO. In some environments, this system is vulnerable to problems caused by multipath effects. When an electromagnetic field (EM field) is met with obstructions such as hills, buildings, utility wires, and canyons the wavefronts are scattered, and thus it take multi paths to reach the destination. Fading, cut out (cliff effect), and intermittent reception (picket fencing) are the problems caused by late arrival of scattered portion of signals. In a digital communications system, it cause a reduction of data speed and number of errors is increased. In order to eliminate or minimize problems caused by multipath wave propagation, a new technology has been introduced and it is Smart Antenna Technology. There are three forms of smart antenna, known as SIMO (single input, multiple output), MISO (multiple input, single output), and MIMO (multiple input, multiple output). 1.1.2 SINGLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT (SIMO) : Fig 1.1.2 : SIMO In SIMO, there will be only single transmitter and many receivers. 1.1.3. • 5. Cannibalism And Its Effects On Today s Modern Society Cannibalism, also more formally known as anthropophagy, can be defined as the act of ingesting human flesh, blood or internal organs by a human being. The reasons behind cannibalism vary from being ritualistic to psychopathic and the practice manifests itself in many different forms. Often profoundly fantasised by Western society as the man eating myth (Arens 1979, in King 2000, p.106), cannibalism as a result has become subject to critical speculation and lingering doubt. This essay argues that although cannibalism is often conceptualised in today s modern society as a myth, there is much anthropophagical evidence to suggest otherwise; that cannibalism is indeed an underlying reality. Typically associated with sacred beliefs and matters related to the spiritual regeneration of the deceased, including respect and honour (Carbonell et al. 2010, p.539), endo cannibalism denotes an affectionate form of anthropophagy in which the consumed individuals were members of the same social or kinship group as those who consume them. In stark contrast, exo cannibalism, otherwise known as warfare cannibalism, refers to the consumption of strangers, enemies, foreign individuals beyond the tribe and usually signifies expressions of hostility, violence, and contempt and may indicate a clear predator/prey relationship between the consumers and the consumed (Carbonell et al. 2010, p.539). Up until sometime during the late 1960s, the Amazonian Wari ate specific parts of their late in laws (affines ) bodies and they did so out of compassion for the deceased and their immediate family; to gratify the former and console the latter. Endo cannibalism was a grieving mechanism through which the bereaved came to terms with their loss and carried on living without being perpetually made sad by the presence of a rotting body in the cold, desolate earth. Opposed to the pervasive, functionalist/cultural materialistic perspective that cannibals eat human flesh solely for a scientific nutritional purpose for the same reason as others eat domestic animal flesh (Harris 1977, in Sahlins 1978, p.45), Wari mortuary ... Other hard rock groups that got there start in the 1970s were Kiss, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Rush, Journey, and Van Halen. The mid to late 1970s brought about a slow but steady change in punk rock. With the advent of heavy metal and punk rock bands an explosion of new rock genres emerged. The change was started by three bands from New York. The New York Dolls, the Dictators and the Ramones started a new trend that quickly spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Finally, teenagers should have after school jobs because it will keep them away from trouble. This reason is very significant for teenagers who choose not to go to college, and their only reason for getting employed is experience. Yet, the most important reason is that jobs keep teenagers away from violence. Jobs are very time consuming. If a teenager works and goes to school, he will probably not have time to join a gang or get into fights. Nowadays more and more employees are getting drug tested at their jobs. If a teenager likes his job or needs to work, he will not do drugs because he will get fired. Furthermore, if a teenager receives a paycheck he will spend his earned money instead of stealing. To this day, people still talk about how great of a movie Pulp Fiction is. These movies are well known for their graphic violence, and sometimes profanity. Most violence in Tarantino s movies is of shootings, but not in all cases. In Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction the violence consists of graphic, detailed, hard to watch gun scenes. These are exceptionally gory, and are usually on screen. In his Kill Bill series, it is mostly death by sword, the weapon of choice for the main character. Inglourious Basterds is a whole different ball field. No pun intended, since a man is beaten to death with a baseball bat in this particular movie. The deaths vary from graphic shootings, with lots of blood splatter, to carving swastikas into men s heads, to shooting an already dead man s face apart in explicit, extremely life like detail. Effect Of Birth Order On Personality Effect of birth order on achievement motivation and personality development INTRODUCTION Birth order: Birth order refers to the order a child is born in their family; first born and second born are examples. Birth order is often believed to have a profound and lasting effect on psychological development and achievements. (Rodgers, Cleveland, Van Den, Rowe, 2000) Psychological birth order is defined as the way a person sees or perceives his or her position in his or her family of origin. Alfred Adler believed that birth order was the way a child interpreted his or her perceived positions in the family, which is the most important to him or her.
