2. Churches In Paris Research Paper
Experiencing the Churches in Paris
Being an atheist, I don t spend much time in places of worship. However, as my family will go on
many tours on the history of Paris, I will have to see a lot of churches. My family will be the impetus
for my experience in the churches, and the tour guides the ones bringing me into the churches. In
preparation for this experience, I will try to keep an open mind, as the fact is that even if I don t
believe in any religion personally, there are many people who do, and I think that it would be very
interesting to try to see what people see in it. This challenges my current point of view because I know
that I associate (unfairly) religious people as being somewhat close minded. I want to be able to be
less close minded myself, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the outside, it was dark stone, adorned with Gothic architecture, and the insides held even more.
The decadent surroundings were adorned with early carvings and gold statues. I learned of the crown
of thorns, supposedly brought to the French by Saint Louis, and I learned of Saint Denis, who cut off
his head and walked back to a site where he supposedly proclaimed that it would be his church. We
went into the Saint Denis Church, Saint Gervais Saint Protais Church, Saint Etienne du Mont, and
Notre Dame. We went into Roman Catholic Churches turned Synagogues in Le Marais, and they were
all beautiful. Each church had a separate story, some being created around the time that Paris first
came into existence. I remember scrutinizing each little detail, looking at the magnificent artwork and
structure of each. One church we walked into had a ceremony going on, and embarrassed, we hurried
out quickly. Yet, just seeing that people continued to use these ancient churches was quite
heartwarming. I noticed that these people were all connected in a deep, ancient way. Sitting on the
pews, the men and women praying towards the same person had a sort of community that I had never

3. Confucianism Bring Harmony In Society
According to The Analects, Confucianism brings harmony by not doing things to others that you
wouldn t want done to yourself. Confucianists follow Ren and Li. Ren (humility) is when one is kind,
benevolent, and has humaneness towards others. Li is the rituals, rites, etiquette and propriety which
lead to peace and harmony. Ren brings harmony by someone giving love and being equal. I believe
that ren really does bring harmony into a society because when someone has a lot of pride, it ruins a
lot for them, people don t really look at them as a humble person. Humility actually makes you be a
better person because you accept when you make errors and not making yourself look as a very
important person (this doesn t mean someone feels worthless or bad about themselves). Whereas, Li
brings harmony by knowing and accepting where you stand in society. The best example I could think
of is respect. You have to respect whom is above you. For example it is my obligation to respect my
older sisters because I m younger than them. In class, I was told that if everyone does the proper thing,
society will function well and will lead to peace and harmony. Whereas, Taoism brings harmony by
accepting things the way they are. The concepts of Yin and Yang bring harmony to Taoists. Yin and
yang represent the fluidity of the universe. Yin meaning dark, passive, female and yang meaning light,
active, male. None of them are bad or evil, they are just different. They are complementary not

4. Essay On Dental Sealant
The purpose of this research was to prove that the School Based Dental Sealant program could
improve access to Preventive Dental Service. The authors investigated 8145 students in Framingham,
Massachusetts which was considered representative of the 66190 residents living in west/ southwest of
Boston. The study began after applying oral survey to all first and second grade students in
Framingham from 2000 to 2009. In this period of time, all students were screened for the number of
teeth filled, number of teeth with untreated decay, number of teeth extracted, existing sealants on the
first molar, and identification of first molars in need of sealant. And then the dental officials applied
sealant to the molars of those students who had high potential of developing carries.
Although students were identified and informed of the dental care they needed, just 29% of students in
2003 were willing to receive sealants. In 2004, just 26% of the students were willing to receive
sealants resulting in 52% of students having tooth decay. Over the six year period, the dental
hygienists and nurses of Boston schools applied sealant and gave them 20 to 25 minutes of oral ...

The effectiveness of preventive education is moderated by the patient s beliefs and cultural and social
norms. In my home country, in the villages, it is the custom that people expect to lose their teeth by
the time they are old, so it takes a lot of persuasion to get them to believe they can keep their teeth if
they take care of them. Understanding different cultures increases the dental hygienist s competency
and trustworthiness. It is worthwhile being part of the diversity class. Thus, during the time I study in
the dental hygiene program I will have a chance to learn more about cultural differences in order to

5. Sara Bareilles Research Paper
Often overlooked and not properly recognized, singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles is a vocal sensation
and musical mastermind. Stunning live audiences with her rare ability to sound better on stage than in
the recording studio, she brings every ounce of emotion, from hitting rock bottom or having a terrible
heartbreak to becoming comfortable and proud of oneself, to every performance. Bareilles was born
and raised in Eureka, California and attended University of California, Los Angeles before entering
the music industry. She grew up in a family that loved and valued musical theater and wanted to

Despite unrivaled skill though, she has a rather low profile among today s musicians, partially
attesting to the fact that the majority of the music industry relies on danceable electronic beats, auto

the exact opposite. The singer/songwriter keeps a low profile on social media and keeps her personal

man with an immeasurable amount of grit. Vincent Van Gogh used perseverance, passion, and
resilience to overcome the hardship he faced in his life. To begin with, Vincent Van Gogh used
perseverance to overcome obstacles in his life. First, Vincent was born into a very poor family. Due to
this setback, Vincent would use peasants as models for many of his drawings and paintings. Secondly,
would be that Vincent only sold one painting in his lifetime called The Red Vineyard according to the

where the federal agency could be moving to a cloud, it may not be welcomed by most employees of
the federal agencies. It was the case of City of Pittsburgh, they had some strict limitation and
challenges in the deployment of their new IT project involving the use of the Cloud. They did some
analysis on the Internal and External Environment. Some specific challenges they were faced include;

experience on similar IT projects . (Pearlson, Saunders Galleta, p 250), City of Pittsburg will be
relying heavily on consultants due to the fact that the in house IT department does not have the
knowledge and skills needed for the email services they are about to deploy for their use.
It is very key City of Pittsburg s CIO to look at these specific challenges so the migration can be
smooth, seamless and accepted by the employees in the agency. The migration into the cloud service

section of this paper will discuss the welfare policies aimed at alleviating the struggle of women to

Welfare Programs and Eligibility
There are several welfare programs that are available to women in need of assistance that can be very
beneficial in helping get back on track financially and become stable. Welfare programs are state
regulated programs reserved for those who live under the minimum accepted income which is
determined by each state government. Welfare benefits can fall under multiple different program
umbrellas, all of which require certain elements of eligibility to maintain receiving benefits. These
programs may include but are not limited to cash assistance (TANF or TAFDC), the child support
program, child care, energy or utility assistance, food assistance, WIC, and medical assistance. In
order to receive any assistance, you must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant, and meet income and
asset limits. Women contribute to a large portion of those who receive assistance benefits.

Question 1:
What is the normal process flow of the production system at Donner? Draw a process flow diagram.
Question 2:
What orders would you schedule on the CNC drill? On CNC router?
Operation Setup Time (min) Run Time/board
Manual Drill 15 0.08*500 = 40
CNC Drill 240 0.004*500 = 2

CNC Router 150 0.5
a) CNC Drill vs Manual Drill
Let x be order size than –
15 + 40x = 240 + 2x; x = 5.92;
From this equation we get x approximately equal to 6. So Donner Company should use the CNC Drill
for orders of more than or equal to 6 boards. The Manual Drill process should be used for all orders of
less than 6 boards. This is because production time for CNC is less than manual for order size of ...

that net profit before taxes decreased considerably from $14,800 in August of 1987 to $3,100 in
September of the same year. Also net sales and gross profit margin decreased in this period. All this
can be attributed to huge inefficiencies that exist in the manufacturing processes of Donner.
Major issues are –
• Poor Quality Items returned by customers increased from 1% to 3%. One tenth of the boards

the company not completing one or two different required operations.
• Process Flow One of Donner s major problems lies in their process flow. There are many
bottlenecks and employee downtime which arise from poor process flow setup and unforeseen
problems.
• Low Productivity – For example Plater spent 15% of her time walking between her desk and the
plating tank. Also, plating and etching processes were located far form the machining operation.
• Late Deliveries In 1987, Donner was faced with problems in meeting delivery schedules and
growing customer returns.

Introduction
Toxic Shock Syndrome, or TSS is a life threatening illness caused by a bacteria called Staphylococcus
aureus . TSS was first discovered in children in 1978. (Venkataraman, 2015) After the 1978 discovery,
the disease itself was nationally recognized in 1980 when it was seen as a health threat amongst
reproductive women, after this epidemic the number of reports of TSS decreased sharply. (Hajjeh,
2010) S. aureus can be identified as bacteria that, often times will go unnoticed as it usually does not
cause any harm. Around 30% of the world?s population carries this bacterium in their noses. Although
the bacteria are commonly regarded as harmless, in a healthcare environment it can lead to many
serious infections. An S. aureus infection, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first step the doctor takes in attempting to overcome the disease is to identify the source of the
conflict and remove it, if applicable, and proceed treat it. The physician will then, after taking blood
cultures, begin a combination of IV antibiotics. The antibiotics used are of a variety, due to the fact
that S. aureus is resistant to many antibiotics, this variety consists of nafcillin, oxacillin, penicillin, and
clindamycin. Based on the results of the blood cultures the physician may later decide to change the
antibiotics used. While being treated with these antibiotics patients may experience side effects such
as: nausea, headaches, vomiting, joint pain, and vaginal itch or discharge. A physician may also use
dopamine or epinephrine to treat low blood pressure. (Venkataraman, 2015)
Prognosis
Medically, Toxic Shock Syndrome is a very serious disease and is often considered life threatening,
referred to as deadly in 50 percent of cases. (Healthline Media, n.d.) The key to overcoming TSS is to
begin treatment early. If this is done, one will see improvement within 48 hours of medical attention
and often will be able to leave the hospital within a week. (Venkataraman, 2015)

15. Summary Of Herman Hesse s Demian
Herman Hesse s Demian emphasizes the importance of change and self discovery. Emil Sinclair, the
story s protagonist, experiences various adjustments, which in time influence his values and identity.
As the story develops, Sinclair acquaints himself to Max Demian, an intellectual being, who further
encourages him to acknowledge the human s definite capabilities. Through his interpretation of Cain,
Demian impacts the way in which Sinclair views the world. His understanding of the story contradicts
the standard Christian narrative. Seeing as his principal conflict revolves around the distinction of the
good and the bad, Sinclair continuously suppresses his feelings towards the controversial aspect of
things. Through this, one becomes aware of the depicted duality of Cain and Abel. Furthermore,
Sinclair progressively becomes intrigued with the world s divergence which is contradictory to
Christianity and its values. The incorporation of Cain and Abel is quite controversial, in terms of
society and its standards. All in all, Hesse impeccably interprets Cain s mark by bringing awareness to
the characters possessing alternate mindsets. This essay serves to address the interpretation of Cain s
mark, as Hesse demonstrates its existence through distinguishing individuals, and its effect on society.
Conforming with societal norms, the story s protagonist is patently characterized through his
innocence and his perception of the world. Due to its assurance of freedom and safety, Emil

Max Weber s work The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism is arguably one of the most
important works in all of sociology and social theory, both classical and modern. In the decades since
its inception, this work has gone on to influence generations of social scientists with its analysis of the
effect of Protestantism on the development of modern industrial capitalism. This work, examining
such broad topics as religion, economics, and history, is not only an interesting and insightful look into
the history of the development of capitalism, but a major work in laying a foundation for future works
of social theory. Max Weber s main contention in this work is that what he calls the Protestant Ethic

Catholics are more likely to pursue a career in the crafts, and become master craftsmen, whereas
Protestants are more likely to seek work in factories, and become skilled workers and administrators
(Weber, 6). He says that the differences in the economic outcomes of the two different religious
groups can be seen the character of their religious beliefs, not just in the historical and material
conditions that they came from. Many claim that Catholics were more focused on other worldly
things, whereas Protestants were more materialistic in their outlook (Weber, 8). But Weber disagrees
with this, saying Hardly anything shows so clearly as this parallel that, with such vague ideas as that
of the alleged otherworldliness of Catholicism, and the alleged material joy of living of
Protestantism,...nothing can be accomplished for our purpose (Weber, 9). Protestantism combines an
aggressive capitalistic business sense with an extreme sense of piety and asceticism. The Protestant
denominations created a distinction between capital acquisition, which could be a good thing, and the
spending of wealth, which was considered immoral. Protestants did not accumulate wealth in order to
spend it, as many other groups would have done and had done throughout history. Therefore, Weber
states, If any inner relationship between certain expressions of the old Protestant spirit and modern
capitalistic culture is to be found, we must attempt to find it, for better or for worse not in its alleged

18. Similarities Between A Streetcar Named Desire And A...
The battle of the sexes has been going on for a millennium. The way that men and women view
everything from love to children to career choices is strikingly different. Today, men and women seem
to be much more in sync with these views. However, in the post World War II era of A Streetcar
Named Desire and Their Eyes Were Watching God, they are very different. Although both works of
literature focus on the theme of desire, the authors deal with this topic quite differently. For example,
Blanche continues to rely on and chase after men which only leads to her unhappiness and insanity;
whereas, Janie learns to control her desire as she goes through her long journey of self discovery and
new found independence. Therefore, despite the similar theme of desire, both characters embark on a
journey which takes them to opposite destinations: Blanche, an insane asylum and Janie, a whole new
world of self reliance. In the play, A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche Dubois craves attention from
the opposite sex to formulate her self worth and self confidence. She is the stereotypical woman of the
time who seems unable to exist without a man to provide for and look after her. Women during this
time had no ability to live on their own because of social norms. Blanche portrays these limitations
throughout the play but particularly in her thoughts following her young husband s death when she
accepts that she will now be forced to move on to some fresh territory (Williams 122). This desire
impacts all aspects of her life: her career, her love life, her reputation, her home and eventually her
sanity. In an attempt to escape her problems, she runs away to her sister s house hoping that Stella and
her husband, Stanley, will take care of her. This is when author Tennessee Williams introduces the
three key motifs: Desire, Cemeteries, and Elysian Fields, all of which portrays Blanche s voyage to
her demise. In scene one, Williams mentions these three key terms, They told me to take a streetcar
named Desire, and then transfer to one called Cemeteries and ride six blocks and get off at Elysian
Fields (Williams 117). Blanche s journey on New Orleans streetcars represents the journey of her own
life. The streetcar named Desire is

would lead to revolts, and even groups coming together. Some revolts were peaceful while others,

responsibility to create a secure home for their child. Since children s learning foundation is built in
the home from the time they are born, it is important for parent s to create a safe learning environment
as their child grows and develops. Parents can create a safe learning environment in the home in order
to support their children throughout the different milestones, by creating secure parent to child
attachments starting at birth, by helping the brain and personality develop, and by keeping objects and
spaces safe for each stage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, secure attachments are a mental process that create loving relationships.
Secure parent to child attachments can be created on the foundation of love. Love means so many
different things, and shown in so many different ways. Love is sacrifice, selflessness, respect, and
kindness. It is definitely shown in a secure relationship between parents and children throughout all
milestones as they develop. There is something so special between the love of a parent and child. A
quote by Burmenskaya, proves this statement, Attachment keeps its role as an active mental
mechanism in creating interpersonal relations, including friendship, love and family relations
(Burmenskaya 389). Attachments can also create success when parents help their children form self
worth, empathy, and autonomy first at birth, and can continue as they grow. Burmenskaya s article
continues to expound on the idea that parents need to create an attachment not just from the time their
child is born, but as he/she continues to grow, because this influences the child s personality. For
example, We saw the advantage of attachment system in the fact that psychological education
integrates the experience of the child s close interactions beginning from infancy in a concentrated
way, and on the other hand, it is connected directly with emotional / personality sphere (Burmenskaya

22. How Important Is The Us Economy In The 1920 s
Our Nation s Economy
Every successful country needs a successful economical system. If a country s economy is big,
wealthy, and powerful, that country is set, at least for the time being. The United States and its
massive budget are a great example. The U.S. economy is a very capitalistic, risky, and stressful
endeavor.
This great nation s economy is powered by the almighty power of capitalism. We are number one
when it comes to the size and importance of our budget (US Economy). Ipso Facto during the United
States prime, many countries wanted to emulate the United States due to their extraordinary financial
standing compared to the rest of the World (McBride). This want to push towards United States levels
of success has caused many countries to shift to a more capitalistic way of thinking. Capitalism is a
system in which goods and services are offered on the free market, with buyers and sellers coming
together to determine the price of those goods and services (US Economy). During the 1920 s, the

It can all go downhill very easily. Due to the nature of capitalism and the free market, when
unemployment rises, spending buyers grow sparse (US Economy). Sellers absolutely depend on
consumers to buy their products and services. If the public doesn t have any money to spend, they,
quite simply, don t spend. For example, just six years removed from the greatest financial cataclysm
since the Great Depression, the US continues... down the same perilous economic path (McBride).
The crisis referred to in the quote was the meltdown of 2009, a seismic and nearly deafening blow
towards American consumerism. Many more people as of this event are either in debt, poor, homeless,
or a combination of these factors. The worst part is if the United States government, at least according
to Jonathan Kirshner, had reformed the economic sector, we could ve avoided this setback and stopped

23. Silver In The 18th Century Dbq
Silver in the 16th century and early 18th century was a product that was widely used and traded across
the world both as a currency and a feature in households and stores. The trade of silver included large
scale social and economic effects that spread around the world, impacting large centralized
governments such as the chinese, to smaller, less organized areas in the americas. Silver allowed the
early modern age to flourish, and grow economically, socially, and in global trade. Silver had a
profound effect on the global economy, for example, silver backed nearly all of China s economy back
in the day and silver quickly became the core of China s economic life. This is shown in documents

For example, silver began to be an important part of everyday dealings. Jobs were focused towards
silver production, foods and goods could be bought with silver coins, etc. This is mainly shown in

this time period. However I believe that the point of view in this passage is slightly swayed by the fact
that the author is a county official who is most likely wealthy and he may simply be referring to his
own greed. In document 5 it shows how silver was eventually used as a currency and people were no
longer able to keep tabs as they had to pay with silver up front. I believe the purpose of this document
is important due to the growing use of silver and how it was affecting the cities that began to use it. In
document 7 silver can clearly be seen affecting social lives through the increased demand for foreign
products. With a higher demand for these products there is a much higher demand for the silver to
purchase the goods. I believe the purpose of this document is important because it shows the

24. Lord Of The Flies Symbolism Analysis
The symbols in the Lord of the Flies all change meaning throughout the novel. As the boys change and
develop, the symbols change with them. Some may become more positive or more negative and some
may change meaning completely. Ralph, Piggy, and Jack all adjust to being stranded on the island
differently and therefore react to and treat the objects on the island differently. With Jack s
development into savagery throughout the novel, his carelessness is evident in his lack of
acknowledgement of symbols that are important to Ralph and Piggy who look at this experience more
logically and optimistically. One symbol that changed dramatically throughout the novel is the fire.
The fire in the Lord of the Flies is introduced as a symbol for hope, develops into destruction and is
finalized as a representation of salvation.
In the beginning of the Lord of the Flies, the fire is used as a form of hope for rescue and survival.
When the boys first arrive on the island, Ralph decides that rescue should be their main focus. The
boys build a signal fire to attract any passing ships. He puts Jack and his hunters in charge of keeping
the fire going. One day the hunters let the fire burn out. When a ship passes without seeing the fire,
Ralph panics because they have lost a chance at being rescued. Golding describes the aftermath of the
ship passing, The fire was out, smokeless and dead; the watchers were gone. A pile of unused fuel lay
ready (Golding 68). When this incident occurs, Ralph

all customers groups in the market with a full line of non food products. From standing by this
strategy, Myer carries more than 60,000 product lines and approximately 2400 domestic and
international brands across its 11 core product categories including women s swear, menswear, youth
fashion, children s wear, intimate apparel; beauty, fragrance and so on. In addition, Myer has
established a special brand hierarchy which covers a broad range from entry level to luxury price

stores, and the depth of the product knowledge is a key competitive advantage over the discount
department stores.

One mistake is buying more internet capacity as well as telephone services than needed, e.g. you need

The same goes for phones and computers, i.e. you can easily buy a phone or a PC that is much faster

Humans have achieved evolutionary progress in history through the desire to live a better life and the
ability to adapt to even the harshest conditions. To be sheltered from the harsh weather conditions,
early humans learned to live in caves. To fight off wild animals as well as to cook food, humans
developed their own way of making fire after accidental encounters of the process through wildfires
caused by lightning. However, progress did not come lightly and through the search for further
progress, humans are inevitably reunited with unintended negative consequences for which Edward
Tenner called revenge effects . In Jon Krakauer s Selections from Into the Wild, Christopher

Through these unconventional adaptations, Julia was able to bury her depressing childhood inside the

adaptations, she achieved eventual progress and success. Julia was able to graduate summa cum laude
from Stanford, receiving a full scholarship at a graduate school in New York and become an award
winning producer of documentary films (Stout 385). The same trend of human achieving progress
through adaptation can be observed at a societal scale. The first great modern stimulus from disaster
may have been the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588....this greatest setback in the history of Spain
was what led its king Philip III to offer a perpetual pension of 6,000 ducats to the discoverer of the
longitude (Tenner 435). Because of the harsh conditions and challenges sea navigation posed due to
the inability to determine longitude, humans are forced to overcome this challenge by increasingly
focusing their attention toward the search for longitude. Even though it would take more than a decade
until people receive nearly satisfactory results, the adaptation still led to some fruitful results, such as
the advances in mathematics, astronomy, mechanics, and magnetism. Given these points, Krakauer,
Stout and Tenner demonstrated human s innate ability to adapt to overcome the

30. Introduction to Poetry Representation
Poetry is not just words formed into a line and a stanza; each poem is an opportunity to dance with the
poet to his or her significant song. Introduction to Poetry by Billy Collins is a reflection on how
readers should read poetry. This poem is about how readers should take the time to understand and
explore poetry. In addition, Billy Collins, also, states that readers should not torture poems and ignore
the significance each stanza represents, but dissect, enjoy, and appreciate the journey they will take
while reading poetry. Introduction to Poetry is a guide to readers in how to take more time enjoying
poetry and learning to understand the experiences poems portray. Billy Collins makes an observation
that readers should not just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tries to get the readers to portray that poetry can be thrilling and adventurous. For instance, Collins
wants his readers to waterski across the surface of a poem / waving at the author s name on the shore
(9 11), which means he wants the readers to feel enthusiastic and thrilled while reading poetry.
Waterskiing is a daring and riveting sport that moves a person very quickly through the water.
Therefore, Collins compares reading to waterskiing because he wants his readers to read through a
poem like as if it were waterskiing across the surface of the water. The lake represents the poem in the
stanza, and the reader is waterskiing across the poem because he or she has a better understanding
towards the meaning. Therefore, it is easier for him or her to waterski across the poem (9 10). By the
reader waving at the name of the author on the shore (11), this line is another way of revealing
recognition towards the author s work.
However, Collins transitions the mood from excitement to a harrowing imagery portraying what
readers do to poetry. In the fifth stanza, Collins creates suspense because he states that the poem is
being tied to a chair with rope and tortured for a confession by the readers (12 14). This vivid and
dismaying imagery represents the poem as a prisoner being held captive and the reader as the torturer,
who is trying to squeeze out an understanding. By the poem being restrained, this depicts the poem s
lack of movement.

much of the ideological groundwork of the Bolsheviks when they had gained power. The April Thesis
had united key factions in the Provisional Government such as the Workers and Soldiers. Without the

38. The Solar Wind Is Dominated By Two Types Of Interplanetary...
2.1 Introduction
In the heliosphere, the large scale structure of the solar wind is dominated by two types of
interplanetary disturbances: transient and corotating disturbances. Corotating disturbances, associated
with spatial variability and solar rotation, occur in response to the interaction of fast and slow solar
winds. Transient disturbances, due to episodic solar eruptions, expand outward from the Sun into
interplanetary space (Gosling, 1996). The galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity is modulated by long
term effects such as ≈ 11 year solar activity cycle and ≈ 22 year solar magnetic cycle as well as by
short term effects such as passage of corotating flows (high speed streams) and transient disturbances
(e.g. interplanetary coronal mass ejections). Recurrent depressions in GCR intensity due to corotating
fields and flows and Forbush decreases due to transient disturbances have been studied in the past
(see, e.g. Lockwood, 1971; Rao, 1972; Iucci et al., 1989; Venkatesan and Badruddin, 1990; Cane,

encouragement. Javidan et al. (2006) explain that South Koreans thrive off of teamwork and group
reward unlike other countries such as the United States, which favors a more individualistic system (p.
70). Of all the cultures studied as part of Project GLOBE, South Korea ranked highest in their need of
a group reward system. This information will help me establish a reward system that will satisfy the
need that the employees require in South Korea.
An additional factor that Javidan, et al. (2006, p. 70) raises is Uncertainty Avoidance which can be
characterized as a tolerance for uncertainty (Hofstedeâ„¢ Cultural Dimensions, n.d.). According to
Hostede s scale, South Koreans do not like change and thrive off of order and use structure to
minimize uncertainties (Hofstedeâ„¢ Cultural Dimensions, n.d.). This leads me to question, how they
will handle a new foreign manager? especially a woman manager.
Culture Shock One of the biggest culture shocks for me will be the move itself. Relocating my family,
getting a new home, learning the language are all obstacles I will have to overcome. My cultural
orientation training will help, but a new job is always a bit overwhelming at first not to mention
tackling a foreign grocery store. Another challenge will be adapting to the

41. Controversy Over the United States Providing Developmental...
Throughout history and present day times, many countries such as Germany, France, and Canada have
provided assistance and aid to underdeveloped countries to help alleviate poverty. The United States
itself issues aid to developing countries which include Israel, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Ethiopia; this
has been an American practice since 1947 after World War II. During the time period from 1947 to
1949 the United States, under the Marshall Plan, provided both financial and technical assistance to
Europe and Asia after the war. As a result, Europe was rebuilt both politically and economically.
Today the United States continues to provide aid to underdeveloped countries, helping them evolve
and strengthen their economy. Many Americans believe that America is doing the right thing in
issuing aid, while others hold the opinion that the United States should not issue aid, and that the issue
of money to developing countries needs to stop. On one side of the issue the supporters of
developmental aid believe that the United States is doing more than a great job by offering economic
assistance to countries that need help to develop. These individuals are aware of the unfortunate
poverty levels in many countries abroad. They believe that it is the duty of the American people to
help reduce the poverty levels in countries in which people live with less than a dollar a day. In fact,
some supporters believe that the U.S. is not offering enough support to the poorer countries. Many

44. Similarities Between Macbeth And Banquo
A homograph is a word that is spelled the same but can be pronounced differently or have different
meanings. Different pronunciations of the word are used based on the context of the sentence it is in.
This same idea is also true of people. Two people can have the exact same experiences, yet react to it
in completely different ways. Characters in literature often reflect this same phenomenon, foil
characters with identical aspects who react differently to circumstance. In Shakespeare s tragic play
Macbeth, Banquo serves as a foil character to Macbeth emphasizing Macbeth s unchecked ambition, a
fatal flaw, that leads to his ultimate moral decline. At the beginning of the story, Shakespeare
establishes the foil between Macbeth and Banquo to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By encouraging Macbeth not to fear his prophecy, Shakespeare establishes that his foil Banquo also
has a sense of ambition. Unlike Macbeth, however, Banquo has the ability to control his ambition.
These opening scenes establish a foil between Banquo and Macbeth in order to show their shared
positive characteristics prior to Macbeth s moral decline. After Macbeth and Banquo receive
prophecies, the foil characters start to diverge as Banquo s takes the moral path of goodness while
Macbeth takes the immoral path towards his ultimate decline. Banquo and Macbeth have the
opportunity to pursue the same path, but because of his unchecked ambition, Macbeth deviates from
Banquo s path of good morals. Immediately after the witches tell their prophecies, Banquo s mindset
is wary and rational. He warns Macbeth that, oftentimes, to win us to our harm, / the instruments of
darkness tell us truths... (1.3.125 126). Banquo is not obsessed with the prophecies and the idea that
one day his ancestors will be kings. On the other hand, Macbeth speculates, Two truths are told, / as
happy prologues to the swelling act / of the imperial theme. (1.3.130 132) Because two of the three
prophecies have come true, Macbeth is blinded by his ambition and seems to fantasize about the idea
of being king. These contrasting reactions show that Macbeth takes a

45. Julian Of Margery Kempe
Although historians have preserved her work, Julian of Norwich adopted her name from the church in
which she lived as an anchoress. The fact that a name beyond her individual self marks her legacy
seems fitting for the anchoress whose devotion to God and to Holy Church marked her entire life.
Even when her beliefs struck discord with the doctrines of the church; Julian professed that
contradictions were nothing of substance but simply a symptom of the lack of humankind s
comprehension. Her nurturing theology professed a God of profound love in a time of great heartache.
Despite her life in an anchorhold, It seems that the walls of Julian s cell did not separate her from the
outside world; her appearance in The Book of Margery Kempe proves that
