Defining Freedom In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
Defining Freedom What is freedom? Freedom cannot be defined because freedom is in the eye of the
beholder, and so no one can experience true freedom. Freedom represents the ability to choose for
oneself. In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, characters create their own definitions of freedom.
John sees freedom as acquiring knowledge to make an informed choice. Bernard sees freedom as
choosing what to think and having the ability to think for oneself, and Helmholtz Watson sees freedom
as telling others the truth. They all understand freedom in different, separate ways. John sees freedom
as being informed enough to make good decisions and decisions that are one s own. He is upset that
civilization distributes soma because he knows that it takes away one s ability to think. During a soma
distribution, John says, I ll teach you; I ll make you be free whether you want to or not and pushing
open a window that looked on the inner court of the hospital, he began to throw the little pill boxes of
soma tablets in handfuls out into the area. (213) He sees freedom as being more ... Show more content

He demonstrates this when he writes a poem about solitude, which is considered in their society. On

that it was wrong that he should be punished for teaching the truth. He also often expressed his need to
write about things worth writing about, but he did not know what that was. It was the truth. On page

The Chrysanthemums And The Story Of An Hour Analysis
The Chrysanthemums vs The Story of an Hour
John Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums, and Kate Chopin s , The Story of an Hour, both
exhibit a main theme of female isolationism due to being treated as a possession in marriage, as well
as the forbidden desires in life that were seized from both female protagonists. Beginning with the
opening sentence, Steinbeck conveys a somber tone through the description of the setting hanging
above the farm in The Chrysanthemums. The high grey flannel fog of winter closed off the Salinas
Valley from the sky and from all the rest of the world (Steinbeck, John uhhhh boneless pizza). As the
female protagonist in a historically accurate story in the late 1930s, Elisa is condemned to living in a
sort of confinement from the outside world, seeing as her husband would do all of the business on the
farm. She has something in common with the Salinas Valley, as she too is closed off from the sky and
from all the rest of the world under the cloak of her married name. Accompanying the isolation from
the outside world is a dismal depression, which can be transcribed as a high grey flannel fog or an
overcast sky to mimic the solemn feeling. Elisa s attempt to stave off this depression of not being able
to live her best life can be noticed as she gives her utmost attention to her flowers. Equally brilliant to
set the tone right off the bat, Chopin uses a literary technique known as Chekhov s gun and includes a
detail that the readers

The Relationship Between The Sat Scores And Family Income...
IB Math SL Internal Assessment: What is the relationship between the SAT scores and family income
of candidates around the world? By: Rahul Suresh What is the relationship between the SAT scores
and family income of candidates around the world? Introduction: The SAT is a standardized test
widely used for college and university admissions in the United States. It was first introduced in 1926,
and its name and scoring system have changed several times throughout the years. Many students
around the world that want to pursue post secondary institutions in the US make it a point to write the
SAT at least once in their high school career to better their chances of getting a higher score. This test
has three parts to it one reading, writing and one math. In order to achieve the best score that they can
possibly get and be placed in the highest possible percentile, students may decide to attend SAT
preparation classes starting from the early years of High/Middle School. The unfortunate reality of
these extra preparation courses is that they are quite expensive, and due to this, they mostly cater
towards to higher or higher middle class families. Courses that provide extra preparation such as Ivy
Global are not very affordable to many families and so students. According to many statistics and
news reports, the higher the test taker s family income, the higher their scores in the test. This has
been a topic of great controversy as we have grown in the modern society

Ecocide In Aranyak-Of The Forest-An Ecocide
Aranyak Of the Forest An Ecocide: The term ecocide refers to extensive damage done to the
ecosystem of a territory due to human atrocities or to such an extent that the normal living of the
inhabitants is severely disturbed ( Ecosophy Wikipedia , 2017). Human nature is essentially
anthropocentric which assumes the primacy of man over other organisms in the environment. We are
committing ecocide by deforestation of a land, burning fossil fuel, emitting green house gases from
the industrial hubs, by exploiting natural ecocritical understanding of Aranyak Of the Forest (1976) in
the light of ecocide. Ecocriticism is best exhibited in Aranyak Of the Forest where the protagonist
Satyacharan, a city dweller gets hypnotized by nature. Initially urban lifestyle revolted against the
loneliness of the forest. He has been sent to the forest as an estate manager to clear up a forest land of
30 thousand bighas. But as the novel progresses he fell madly in love with nature. The novel is told in
the manner of a reverie which ever haunts his imagination. It is a good example of an ecocide. The
narrator writes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The novel deals with the protagonist Satyacharan s development of his attitude to Nature. The votary

Visual and Cultural Art
For my visual and cultural arts essay I visited the James E Lewis museum at Morgan State University.
For my essay I have selected key pieces of art that I believe express the African experience in terms of
their social, ethnographical and theological beliefs. This paper will also attempt to draw a comparison
to key themes features in the African Creation myths, which will further elucidate the meanings
hidden in these various works of art. It is my belief that this paper will not only serve as a guide into
the philosophical ideas of the African peoples but will help to juxtapose these ideas with the often
false premise purported by certain groups of society, which would like to view Africans as primitive
and uncultured. My first piece is the Benin bronze leopard. Situated in the African art section of the
James E Lewis museum, if stands out not only as a true testament to workmanship but also as a sort of
conveyor of nobility, this nobility which references the monarchy of the Benin Kingdom. The Benin
Kingdom is ruled by a king names the Oba. This reverence for the Oba can be noted as a special style
of ancestor worship, more specifically ancestor reverence. The idea of the society is that the Oba is
divine, and as such the lives of all those who live under his rule revolve around his divinity. This
divinity is represented by the various bronze plaques. The leopard has been regarded as a symbol of
strength and fortitude for many years in the Benin Kingdom. This bronze cast

The Hurt Man
Life is full of loss and you cannot avoid experiencing it and well as sorrow. As people grow up they
come to realize that the world is not as it seemed to be when they were younger. They get more
independent and their perspective of life changes. They will have to realize that they are not going to
live forever. In the short story The Hurt Man, written by Wendell Berry and published in 2003, we
meet Mat who learns all of this.
During the short story Mat is growing up. He is born unexpected but he is still very much appreciated.
His parents watch him closely so he does not get hurt but this change as he becomes older. At the age
of five, the household gets busier and Mat is now more independent.

Cass s husband has previously been a slave. In 1772 it became illegal to sell slaves in Britain but this
does not of necessity mean that people did not have slaves. In addition to the appearing people the
environment tells a lot about the time, too. To get hot water Nancy has to bring a kettle over a noon
fire. It is also difficult for them to find a doctor. They cannot just telephone one. They have to go
searching for one and they are not always findable. This gives you an idea about the theme of the short
story is timeless. It was, as said before, published in 2003 which means that the writer wrote the short
story many, many years later. But it is still current and relevant. Loss, sorrow, growing up,
independence and changing perspectives are all universal.
Mat sees the seriousness and hardness of life during the incident of the hurt man. Al though the hurt
man does not die Mat realizes that he could have. That he will someday. Besides, the graveyard of the
town is more populous than the town itself. This illustrates that death is such a massive part of the
town, the world, and life.
This is not the only thing Mat realizes in the course of the hurt man s presence and his mother s
actions. After that, her losses would be his. The losses would come. They would come to him and his
mother. They would come to him and Margaret, his wife [...] (ll. 139 142)

The Competitive Market Player Of The Aviation Industry
Today in the ever changing and volatile industry that is aviation every action taken has a significant
impact on not only your business but also the competition and stakeholders. With any competitive
market player in the aviation industry every decision made is a critical one, and behind any decision
will be a strategy. These decisions and strategies implemented will put the airline, airport or
manufacturer into one of 4 key strategic positions. The business will either be; the leader, usually the
biggest with the most funds. The challenger who s trying to become the next leader. The follower, who
as the name implies follows the leader and challenger in focusing on a market share. And Finally the
Niche who has a very specific, yet profitable market often avoided by the big players. All of these
strategic positions work in their own right and have advantages and disadvantages to them, hence why
an airlines strategy may change many times over the lifetime of the carrier.
The First and arguably the position every carrier wants to be in is that of the leader. The Leader is the
big dog. With the most funds, resources and in most instances the most reputable brand. This gives the
leader the most flexibility in crafting strategy (Brian, 2011). And with flexibility comes power, they
can make changes with a much smaller risk than if they were in any of the other three market
positions. The leader s main competitive advantage however is the ability to determine the nature and

Creative Elements In Julie Taymor s The Tempest
In Julie Taymor s theatrical rendition of The Tempest , Taymor successfully directs the challenging

especially those written by William Shakespeare, in today s theatrical world is especially difficult.

association between SSB consumption and cases of increased weights and risks for diabetes has
certainly drawn public attention. Other medical problems that are correlated include metabolic

If the penny per ounce tax were to be implemented nationwide, over ten years, there would be an
estimated savings of $9.6 billion for diabetes related costs and $7.4 billion for cardiovascular disease
related costs (Wang). Moreover, the reduction in numbers of strokes and premature deaths linked to
the consumption of SSBs further savings on medical costs. As a result, the nation can reduce wasteful
healthcare spending and focus on funding medical improvements.
Key Players
Though the tax is levied against the distributors of the sugar sweetened beverages, the concept of tax
passing is apparent as prices of taxed beverages is passed on to consumers. Differing from the
common sales tax, an excise tax is levied on producers and... passed on to the consumer via the
product s price tag (Wang). Data collected by the Public Health Instituted displayed that, in Berkeley,
where the excise tax had passed in 2014, store prices of taxed beverages were bumped up. Adjusted
for tax and inflation, prices for tax beverages rose from December 2014 to March 2016 by about
$0.0107 per ounce in large supermarkets and $0.0131 per ounce in small chain supermarkets and gas
stations (Silver). Customers are being forced to pay prices increases than the penny per ounce policy
in order to obtain a single beverage.
On the other hand, smaller businesses experience more difficulty in the face of the SSB tax. According

Communication Reflection Paper
At times, circumstances in life can unknowingly guide one on a path leading to a promising and
rewarding career. Thanks to my family and sister, I am here today. When I was four years old, my
younger sister Carly was diagnosed with a rare developmental disorder, called Smith Magenis
Syndrome (SMS). Of course at the time I did not understand what this meant, but as we got older,
many of Carly s challenges were attributes that came easily to me and other typically developing kids.
One of her biggest challenges was and still is today is communicating effectively. For instance, Carly
didn t use full words until early elementary school. Before that, she communicated mostly through
pointing or using monosyllabic repetitions when she wanted objects. At worst, she would express her
thoughts and frustrations through outbursts. From this young age, I was able to observe Carly and her
SLP work on improving her communication, either in our home or during her speech sessions at the
therapy clinic. However during my high school career, becoming an SLP was just in the back of my
mind, and was never my first choice. It didn t become prominent until entered my freshman year of
college at the University of Iowa, and took the Intro to Speech Hearing Processes and Disorders class.
Throughout the semester I not only became interested in the concepts I previously experienced
through my sister, but also in concepts I had never heard of or thought twice about like stuttering,

The Invention of the Internet Essay
The Invention of the Internet
Perhaps one of the greatest inventions of out time is the Internet. Without a doubt, the net has had a
profound effect on almost every aspect of our lives. The formation of the Internet has changed the way
we do business, communicate, entertain, retrieve information, and even educate ourselves.
Nevertheless, the Internet might have never materialized if it had not been for some innovated thinkers
from the Advanced Research Project Agency, who created ARPANET. In collaboration with several
educational and research institutions, the agency created the packet switching technologies that form
the basis of the Internet today.

(TCP/IP), which is sill used today. It was adopted by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1980, and
universally adopted in 1983. The usage of TCP/IP is what unites all elements of the net. Both public
domain and commercial implementations of the roughly one hundred protocols of the TCP/IP protocol
suite became available in the 1980 s. During the early 1990 s, Open Systems Interconnection (OSI)
protocol implementations also became available by the end of 1991, the Internet has grown to include
some 5,000 networks in over three dozen countries, serving over 700,000 host computers used be over
4,000,000 people. By December 1996, about 627,000 Internet domain names had been registered and
now there are more than 30 million registered.
The conceptual foundation for the creation of the Internet was significantly developed by three
individuals and a research conference, each of which changed the way we thought about technology
by accurately predicting its future: Vannevar Bush wrote the first visionary description of the potential
uses for information technology with his description of the memex automated library system. Norbet
Wiener invented the field of Cybernetics, inspiring future researchers to focus on the use of
technology to expand human compatibilities. The 1956 Dartmouth Artificial Intelligence Conference

to help make some of life s current tasks simpler and faster to complete. Two of the main handheld

when GPS technologies were being developed was how GPS would eventually be incorporated into
civilian aircraft systems, automobiles, personal GPS systems which plug into computers equipped

Yoga And The Yoga Community
Yoga, being one of the most effective self help approaches to life and living, invites me to help ensure
that it is being integrated with maximum wisdom related to breathing. This page is about supporting
and educating the Yoga community in its quest for superior knowledge and effectiveness about proper
breathing. It is our responsibility to alert everyone about this as there are probably millions of students
and teachers with an unclear or distorted idea of healthy breathing.
Nowadays, you can take weekend courses and call yourself a teacher. Many teachers are then first to
defend their breathing development proficiency but alas, last to prove it. One needs to experience
good breathing to teach it.
From a Breathing Times subscriber:
Breath is the unifying principal of the three systems mechanics, metabolism and mentality. It is the
psychopharmacological link between conscious and unconscious states. Each of the three mechanical
aspects of breath has specific neurotransmission function. Any technique(s) that emphasize(s) one
aspect of the mechanism exclusively will shift neurometabolism accordingly. Yoga practices are
designed for this purpose, stimulating a specific aspect or relationship of aspects. I realize that
contemporary yogis don t always explain it this way,and I think that also leads to misuse and abuse.
Right knowledge is yoga or union. That union is from bringing together all aspects, and applying

Introduction Health care in America is at the center of controversy. It is a progressive and rapid
changing entity. Since the 1970s, America has seen many different types of programs and funds
created to help solve the issue of the cost of health care. Many of these programs are on the brink of
bankruptcy and have not done far enough to make it more affordable and assessable. Actually America
has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and not only is it the most expensive, but in
many areas such as quality of care, America is no where near the top among developed countries
(Davis, Stremikis, Squires, amp; Schoen, 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach would greatly benefit people that are already under some type of government
healthcare because the government would find the best companies to work with in order to provide all
types of care from a routine visit to hospice. These companies would then charge the government only
for the services provided. This is where there is a big problem. Right now pricing for most of
American health care comes from a small group of doctors called the Specialty Society Relative Value
Scale Update Committee or RUC (Munro, 2013). This is problematic because this committee is
deciding the prices rather than the actual cost of products. If this process was changed then people
could use rationalization to determine that a government ran universal healthcare system would be in
the best self interest. Healthcare Committee Committees are very important in improving and
discussing ways to improve healthcare in America. There are many different types of committees that
would be assembled, but the most important one would be one to replace the RUC. An example of
what is wrong with the RUC is demonstrated in a balloon needed for sinus surgery. The balloon itself
costs 2,600 dollars to be made. The RUC priced it at 3,000 dollars for each procedure. This balloon
can be used up to 6 times before a new one must be used. Six procedures could be done with one
balloon that costs 2,600 dollars and Medicare will

The Role Of Religion In American Political Life
Additinally, table 3 stresses the religious affialition of Presidents by periods (James D.

Presidents have belonged to the Protestant Establishment (Episcopalian, Presbyterian, and
Congregational) which is the highest rate comparing, to Other Colonial Elites (Unitarian and Quaker)
who account for 14 percent of United States Presidents, and to Other Protestants (Baptists, Methodists,
Disciples of Christ, and Dutch Reformed) with 30 percent of the American Presidents. All these

Morte D Arthur Code Of Chivalry
A Knight s Honor:
An Analysis of Chivalry Throughout history, people of certain cultures base their lives off special
rules, or codes. The Anglo Saxons took examples from the epic hero of Beowulf. Knights during King
Arthur s rule lasted by the code of Chivalry. Lessons from this honorable code can be extracted from
the text of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, as well as from Morte D Arthur. Each of these
memorable pieces of literature show examples of the code of chivalry. The three aspects of chivalry
are courage, honor, and self control. To begin, the first form of chivalry can be clearly found in both
texts and portrays courage. Kings would knight men in return for their promise of courage, honor and
respect from the generous man. Courage is first found in The Green Night when an audacious man
named Gawain steps in to accept the challenge demonstrated from the Green Knight himself. Toward
the king doth now incline: I beseech, before all here, That this melee may be mine. Gawain
demonstrates chivalry by displaying the courage to accept a fatal challenge. Heroism is also presented
in the text of Morte D Arthur. This scrap of literature tells about the closing moments of the glorious
King Arthur. Even in his deathly state, Arthur shows the quality of bravery by battling for his kingdom
after the brutal battle that left all but four men dead. Now, tide me death, tide me life, ... now I see him
yonder alone, he shall never escape mine hands.

beginning of the movie, Gruwell deals with troubles and difficulties as she tries to teach her class that

But after reading the diaries we can see that she now realises that she was wrong about her pre judged
thoughts. In the last shot of the diary scene, we see Ms Gruwell has now finished reading the diaries
and is sitting at her desk, thinking. As the camera pans across her head from right to left, we can see in
the background the change of atmosphere as it goes from a dark room to a light room with the
combination of soft music, in order to show that Ms Gruwell has now developed a new thought and a
new light. The effect of this technique is to show that Ms Gruwell now understands in depth what her
students are facing and the impact its reality creates on their lives every day. The use of this technique
makes the audience challenge their thinking about the lives of students who are living in impoverished
and corrupt environments. This challenges the audience s way of thinking about people and to not pre
judge them, based off what they heard and seen because we tend to pre judge people by their
appearance and actions, without knowing the truth. This will make the audience realize that even if
you are talking to someone face to face and the truth is being said, there will always be some truth that
is left behind and is kept a secret. Because sometimes we need to face that it is simply too much for us

Shakespeare s A Doll s House Essay
The Performance of Gender in Ibsen s A Doll s House It can be said that the sound of Nora Helmer
slamming the door behind her as she leaves her husband and children in pursuit of self actualization is
one of the most famous in theatre history. The journey the characters in A Doll s House take in order
to build to this powerful moment is a fascinating one. Countless scholars have analyzed aspects of
Ibsen s famous play; some have examined the complicated marriage between Nora and Torvald
Helmer, while others have found Ibsen s social commentary piquing their interest. In this particular
case, it is this paper s endeavor to thoroughly examine the ways in which gender is performed in this
classic play. Primarily, Judith Butler s famous book, Gender Trouble:Feminism and the Subversion of
Identity, will serve as the critical lens for this analysis. Two productions of Ibsen s work will provide
the performances for analysis: director Patrick Garland s 1973 film starring Claire Bloom and
Anthony Hopkins, and Mabou Mines postmodern adaptation. Butler s gender performance theory will
help to illuminate the social commentary and underlying themes present in Ibsen s masterpiece and
will hopefully reveal aspects of Nora and Torvald s character that were perhaps hidden until now.

innocent looking brochure. You open it and see tortured and abused animals. Well I could have gone
without seeing that. Helen Eptein in AIDS, Inc. saw some of the benefits and costs of the direct and
indirect approach. The Humane Society uses both direct and indirect methods to get their point across.
Both methods are useful, but if they are used in the wrong way, it could cause problems for the
receivers of that information and the organization. The Humane Society promotes a lifestyle brand and
creates social media campaigns, but also has a very direct way of supporting their cause against

Examples Of Tuesdays With Morrie Aphorism
As you get older, you learn that life is shorter than you think. Researchers explain that one third of our
life is sleeping and another third is working/school. This means humans are usually left with less than
one third of your life which you can do things you love. Today, humans don t understand how much
time they lose doing useless things. The worst thing is sometimes you don t even know when your end
is near. You could even die today from a heart attack or die in a fatal accident. We are explaining the
general truth about many observations which is known as aphorisms. In Mitch Albom s novel,

Along with the argument of love, towards the end of the book, Morrie was on the borderline of death.
He was making life easy for him and enjoying every moment of his last few weeks and months.
Morrie thought of everything in a positive way and even turned every negative thought to a positive
thought when Mitch questioned him. Morrie set goals for himself like talking on as many talk shows
as possible to let people know his life story. Speaking of goals, I believe an important aphorism in this
book is about life goals and dreams. In the novel, Morrie states, If you really want it, then you will
make your dream happen (47). From this quote, I believe this is important because if you don t set
goals for yourself then everything could just go wrong. This relates to me because I try to set goals for
my business. My dad always says, if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. I don t want to fail. Without
goals, I would continue on with bad habits and procrastination with most things. Without setting goals
would keep me unorganized and messy. This quote proves I need to set goals because then I might

Taking An Auto Loan For A Bad Credit
Do you believe that because of your bad credit, you cannot qualify for a bad credit car loan? Then
think again. Many lenders will not lend to persons with bad credit which is normally a score of 620 or
less. There are however, a number of companies that will provide you with the auto loan facility that
you can afford. There are also those that will seek to provide you with the car loan that you want.
There is a big difference between the two. The former will provide that which you can safely afford to
purchase a car and is based on the information you you supply such as your credit score, your monthly
income and expenses. The latter will seek to supply you with the money you want, even if it will
further harm your credit rating. Taking an auto loan that you can afford may not get you the car of
your dreams, but it can get you a car and have you moving about, while helping you to build your
credit.
Now, as eluded to earlier, there are lots of online sites that will offer to provide you with the loan you
want and guess what.... They will require that you supply them with sensitive information such as
your Social Security Number (SSN) among other information. Now to avoid falling victim to the
identity theft vultures out there, I strongly suggest that you research the credibility of any site before
you give out your information. Apart from the Google / fraud test, you can utilize the services of sites
such as ranking.com, and enter the URL of the site in question, and

A People s History of the United States: By Howard Zinn
Chapter 1:
Chapter one of Howard Zinn s A People s History of the United States discusses the differences
between the culture and attitudes of the Europeans and the Native Americans. It further describes how
the Europeans came to the New World and committed genocide against the Native Americans in order
to get land and gold from them, which displayed the cruelty and greed of the European explorers
coming to the Americas. However, many historians consider these actions by the European
Conquistadors to be necessary in order for human progress to occur, but Zinn argues whether human
progress needed all of these barbaric actions. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zinn mentions throughout the text about how awfully treated women were compared to men and how
they were considered inferior to men. Zinn believes that the discrimination and mistreatment of
women during the Colonial time period was the leading cause of the first movements of women s
rights in America. Zinn initially talks about the difference of treatment between Native American
women and women in the colonies, as he writes, It would be an exaggeration to say that women were
treated equally with men; but they were treated with respect, and the communal nature of the society
gave them a more important place. (Zinn) This quotation shows how the Native American women
were treated with respect from others while the women in the colonies were sexually abused and
considered worthless by their masters and husbands. Zinn uses this evidence to really show the better
treatment of Native American women compared to the women in the colonies. In addition, Zinn goes
into further detail about the treatment of women and references to what the slave traders saw, as they
state, I saw pregnant women give birth to babies while chained to corpses which our drunken
overseers had not removed... . packed spoon fashion they often gave birth to children in the scalding

Speech On Population Control
Population control is at its highest demand in all of history. We have a growing population and limited
resources. Droughts, oil shortage, artificial food to keep up are just a few to name. Scientist debate
whether we will be able to civilize onto another planet in our future. While moving to a new planet is
a great idea, I think it s a better idea to control the growth of civilization and the consumption of our
resources on our own planet first. Besides, who needs seven kids in their family anyway? Why do we
need to keep people who have lost all quality of life alive, while they continue to use up resources?
We have limited resources and an over populated planet that shows no sign of slowing down. While
Deforestation has slowed down, we are still burning through our tress too fast for our planet to keep
up. We have mass agriculture growth, but our food is grown with chemicals that are being found to
create more problems than we can keep up with. We ve had several different droughts all over the
world and some places still don t even have clean water access. We seem to continue to find ways to
slow down our own destruction, but these solutions seem to only make matters worse in the long run.
We are an unstable planet that fixes one problem by creating a new one. We have too many people on
this planet that take more than the earth must offer and eventually our planet will no longer be able to
provide and we are not yet to the point where we can pick up and move on to the

never felt completely comfortable around anyone and often feel uneasy and nervous about everything,
but during my last year of middle school my anxiety got tremendously worse with the stress of school.
During my 8th grade year I was going to a college prep academy that came with an incredible amount

just became extremely nervous and uncomfortable about everything, scared to move in front of
people, scared to get up and sharpen a pencil, my hands were more often than not sweaty and gross
feeling which just made me even more nervous because what if for some reason someone would need

Money Laundering
In todays world there are so many different ways to commit a crime. You might not even realize it,
that it could be a family member or even a really close friend committing these crimes. I am talking
about a white collard crime called Money laundering. Have you ever wondered what Money
laundering really is? With this research paper, you will get a chance to finally learn what it really is all
about. You will get an inside look into Money laundering. From their we will learn about the types of
people that commit this type of crime and why. Then we will look into how they ended up getting

For example, Waddel et al (2007) see diversity as differences among people in age, gender, race,
ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background and capabilities/disabilities.
Schwind, Das, and Wagar, (2007, cited in Panaccio Waxin 2010) categorise those differences by
Waddel et al as core dimensions of diversity. Moreover, Schwind, Das, and Wagar (2007 cited in
Panaccio Waxin 2010) also add secondary dimensions of diversity which include education, status,
language, income levels, etc. Nevertheless, McMahon (2010), Burgess, French and Strachan (2010, p.

2.2 Approaches to Managing Diversity
There are many approaches to managing diversity. According to Burgess, French, and Strachan
(2010), there are two main approaches to managing diversity, namely productive diversity which is
based on business case for diversity management and valuing diversity which is based on human
resource or organisational development approach. However, O Leary and Weathington (2006) believe
that organisations must go beyond the business case for diversity management if they want to use the
existing diversity effectively. In addition, according to Das (1998, cited in Panaccio and Waxin 2010),
there are 4 steps in managing diversity. They are the identification of current and ideal future state, the

  • 4. Defining Freedom In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World Defining Freedom What is freedom? Freedom cannot be defined because freedom is in the eye of the beholder, and so no one can experience true freedom. Freedom represents the ability to choose for oneself. In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, characters create their own definitions of freedom. John sees freedom as acquiring knowledge to make an informed choice. Bernard sees freedom as choosing what to think and having the ability to think for oneself, and Helmholtz Watson sees freedom as telling others the truth. They all understand freedom in different, separate ways. John sees freedom as being informed enough to make good decisions and decisions that are one s own. He is upset that civilization distributes soma because he knows that it takes away one s ability to think. During a soma distribution, John says, I ll teach you; I ll make you be free whether you want to or not and pushing open a window that looked on the inner court of the hospital, he began to throw the little pill boxes of soma tablets in handfuls out into the area. He thought that it was wrong that he should be punished for teaching the truth. He also often expressed his need to write about things worth writing about, but he did not know what that was. It was the truth. On page 221 it says, But he s right, said Helmholtz gloomily. Because it is idiotic writing when there s nothing to say... . • 5. The Chrysanthemums And The Story Of An Hour Analysis The Chrysanthemums vs The Story of an Hour John Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums, and Kate Chopin s , The Story of an Hour, both exhibit a main theme of female isolationism due to being treated as a possession in marriage, as well as the forbidden desires in life that were seized from both female protagonists. Beginning with the opening sentence, Steinbeck conveys a somber tone through the description of the setting hanging above the farm in The Chrysanthemums. The high grey flannel fog of winter closed off the Salinas Valley from the sky and from all the rest of the world (Steinbeck, John uhhhh boneless pizza). As the female protagonist in a historically accurate story in the late 1930s, Elisa is condemned to living in a sort of confinement from the outside world, seeing as her husband would do all of the business on the farm. She has something in common with the Salinas Valley, as she too is closed off from the sky and from all the rest of the world under the cloak of her married name. Accompanying the isolation from the outside world is a dismal depression, which can be transcribed as a high grey flannel fog or an overcast sky to mimic the solemn feeling. Elisa s attempt to stave off this depression of not being able to live her best life can be noticed as she gives her utmost attention to her flowers. Equally brilliant to set the tone right off the bat, Chopin uses a literary technique known as Chekhov s gun and includes a detail that the readers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Relationship Between The Sat Scores And Family Income... IB Math SL Internal Assessment: What is the relationship between the SAT scores and family income of candidates around the world? By: Rahul Suresh What is the relationship between the SAT scores and family income of candidates around the world? Introduction: The SAT is a standardized test widely used for college and university admissions in the United States. It was first introduced in 1926, and its name and scoring system have changed several times throughout the years. Many students around the world that want to pursue post secondary institutions in the US make it a point to write the SAT at least once in their high school career to better their chances of getting a higher score. This test has three parts to it one reading, writing and one math. In order to achieve the best score that they can possibly get and be placed in the highest possible percentile, students may decide to attend SAT preparation classes starting from the early years of High/Middle School. The unfortunate reality of these extra preparation courses is that they are quite expensive, and due to this, they mostly cater towards to higher or higher middle class families. Courses that provide extra preparation such as Ivy Global are not very affordable to many families and so students. According to many statistics and news reports, the higher the test taker s family income, the higher their scores in the test. This has been a topic of great controversy as we have grown in the modern society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Ecocide In Aranyak-Of The Forest-An Ecocide Aranyak Of the Forest An Ecocide: The term ecocide refers to extensive damage done to the ecosystem of a territory due to human atrocities or to such an extent that the normal living of the inhabitants is severely disturbed ( Ecosophy Wikipedia , 2017). Human nature is essentially anthropocentric which assumes the primacy of man over other organisms in the environment. We are committing ecocide by deforestation of a land, burning fossil fuel, emitting green house gases from the industrial hubs, by exploiting natural ecocritical understanding of Aranyak Of the Forest (1976) in the light of ecocide. Ecocriticism is best exhibited in Aranyak Of the Forest where the protagonist Satyacharan, a city dweller gets hypnotized by nature. Initially urban lifestyle revolted against the loneliness of the forest. He has been sent to the forest as an estate manager to clear up a forest land of 30 thousand bighas. But as the novel progresses he fell madly in love with nature. The novel is told in the manner of a reverie which ever haunts his imagination. It is a good example of an ecocide. • 8. Visual and Cultural Art For my visual and cultural arts essay I visited the James E Lewis museum at Morgan State University. For my essay I have selected key pieces of art that I believe express the African experience in terms of their social, ethnographical and theological beliefs. This paper will also attempt to draw a comparison to key themes features in the African Creation myths, which will further elucidate the meanings hidden in these various works of art. It is my belief that this paper will not only serve as a guide into the philosophical ideas of the African peoples but will help to juxtapose these ideas with the often false premise purported by certain groups of society, which would like to view Africans as primitive and uncultured. My first piece is the Benin bronze leopard. Situated in the African art section of the James E Lewis museum, if stands out not only as a true testament to workmanship but also as a sort of conveyor of nobility, this nobility which references the monarchy of the Benin Kingdom. The Benin Kingdom is ruled by a king names the Oba. This reverence for the Oba can be noted as a special style of ancestor worship, more specifically ancestor reverence. The idea of the society is that the Oba is divine, and as such the lives of all those who live under his rule revolve around his divinity. This divinity is represented by the various bronze plaques. The leopard has been regarded as a symbol of strength and fortitude for many years in the Benin Kingdom. This bronze cast ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As people grow up they come to realize that the world is not as it seemed to be when they were younger. They get more independent and their perspective of life changes. They will have to realize that they are not going to live forever. In the short story The Hurt Man, written by Wendell Berry and published in 2003, we meet Mat who learns all of this. During the short story Mat is growing up. He is born unexpected but he is still very much appreciated. His parents watch him closely so he does not get hurt but this change as he becomes older. • 10. The Competitive Market Player Of The Aviation Industry Today in the ever changing and volatile industry that is aviation every action taken has a significant impact on not only your business but also the competition and stakeholders. With any competitive market player in the aviation industry every decision made is a critical one, and behind any decision will be a strategy. These decisions and strategies implemented will put the airline, airport or manufacturer into one of 4 key strategic positions. The business will either be; the leader, usually the biggest with the most funds. The challenger who s trying to become the next leader. The follower, who as the name implies follows the leader and challenger in focusing on a market share. And Finally the Niche who has a very specific, yet profitable market often avoided by the big players. All of these strategic positions work in their own right and have advantages and disadvantages to them, hence why an airlines strategy may change many times over the lifetime of the carrier. The First and arguably the position every carrier wants to be in is that of the leader. The Leader is the big dog. With the most funds, resources and in most instances the most reputable brand. This gives the leader the most flexibility in crafting strategy (Brian, 2011). And with flexibility comes power, they can make changes with a much smaller risk than if they were in any of the other three market positions. The leader s main competitive advantage however is the ability to determine the nature and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The positive association between SSB consumption and cases of increased weights and risks for diabetes has certainly drawn public attention. Thanks to my family and sister, I am here today. When I was four years old, my younger sister Carly was diagnosed with a rare developmental disorder, called Smith Magenis Syndrome (SMS). Of course at the time I did not understand what this meant, but as we got older, many of Carly s challenges were attributes that came easily to me and other typically developing kids. One of her biggest challenges was and still is today is communicating effectively. For instance, Carly didn t use full words until early elementary school. Before that, she communicated mostly through pointing or using monosyllabic repetitions when she wanted objects. At worst, she would express her thoughts and frustrations through outbursts. From this young age, I was able to observe Carly and her SLP work on improving her communication, either in our home or during her speech sessions at the therapy clinic. However during my high school career, becoming an SLP was just in the back of my mind, and was never my first choice. It didn t become prominent until entered my freshman year of college at the University of Iowa, and took the Intro to Speech Hearing Processes and Disorders class. Throughout the semester I not only became interested in the concepts I previously experienced through my sister, but also in concepts I had never heard of or thought twice about like stuttering, aphasia, and ... The conceptual foundation for the creation of the Internet was significantly developed by three individuals and a research conference, each of which changed the way we thought about technology by accurately predicting its future: Vannevar Bush wrote the first visionary description of the potential uses for information technology with his description of the memex automated library system. Norbet Wiener invented the field of Cybernetics, inspiring future researchers to focus on the use of technology to expand human compatibilities. Yoga And The Yoga Community Yoga, being one of the most effective self help approaches to life and living, invites me to help ensure that it is being integrated with maximum wisdom related to breathing. This page is about supporting and educating the Yoga community in its quest for superior knowledge and effectiveness about proper breathing. It is our responsibility to alert everyone about this as there are probably millions of students and teachers with an unclear or distorted idea of healthy breathing. Nowadays, you can take weekend courses and call yourself a teacher. Many teachers are then first to defend their breathing development proficiency but alas, last to prove it. One needs to experience good breathing to teach it. From a Breathing Times subscriber: Breath is the unifying principal of the three systems mechanics, metabolism and mentality. It is the psychopharmacological link between conscious and unconscious states. Each of the three mechanical aspects of breath has specific neurotransmission function. It is a progressive and rapid changing entity. Since the 1970s, America has seen many different types of programs and funds created to help solve the issue of the cost of health care. Many of these programs are on the brink of bankruptcy and have not done far enough to make it more affordable and assessable. Actually America has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and not only is it the most expensive, but in many areas such as quality of care, America is no where near the top among developed countries (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, amp; Schoen, 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach would greatly benefit people that are already under some type of government healthcare because the government would find the best companies to work with in order to provide all types of care from a routine visit to hospice. These companies would then charge the government only for the services provided. This is where there is a big problem. Right now pricing for most of American health care comes from a small group of doctors called the Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee or RUC (Munro, 2013). This is problematic because this committee is deciding the prices rather than the actual cost of products. If this process was changed then people could use rationalization to determine that a government ran universal healthcare system would be in the best self interest. Healthcare Committee Committees are very important in improving and discussing ways to improve healthcare in America. There are many different types of committees that would be assembled, but the most important one would be one to replace the RUC. An example of what is wrong with the RUC is demonstrated in a balloon needed for sinus surgery. The balloon itself costs 2,600 dollars to be made. The Anglo Saxons took examples from the epic hero of Beowulf. Knights during King Arthur s rule lasted by the code of Chivalry. Lessons from this honorable code can be extracted from the text of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, as well as from Morte D Arthur. Each of these memorable pieces of literature show examples of the code of chivalry. The three aspects of chivalry are courage, honor, and self control. To begin, the first form of chivalry can be clearly found in both texts and portrays courage. Kings would knight men in return for their promise of courage, honor and respect from the generous man. Courage is first found in The Green Night when an audacious man named Gawain steps in to accept the challenge demonstrated from the Green Knight himself. Toward the king doth now incline: I beseech, before all here, That this melee may be mine. Gawain demonstrates chivalry by displaying the courage to accept a fatal challenge. Heroism is also presented in the text of Morte D Arthur. This scrap of literature tells about the closing moments of the glorious King Arthur. Even in his deathly state, Arthur shows the quality of bravery by battling for his kingdom after the brutal battle that left all but four men dead. Shakespeare s A Doll s House Essay The Performance of Gender in Ibsen s A Doll s House It can be said that the sound of Nora Helmer slamming the door behind her as she leaves her husband and children in pursuit of self actualization is one of the most famous in theatre history. The journey the characters in A Doll s House take in order to build to this powerful moment is a fascinating one. Countless scholars have analyzed aspects of Ibsen s famous play; some have examined the complicated marriage between Nora and Torvald Helmer, while others have found Ibsen s social commentary piquing their interest. In this particular case, it is this paper s endeavor to thoroughly examine the ways in which gender is performed in this classic play. Primarily, Judith Butler s famous book, Gender Trouble:Feminism and the Subversion of Identity, will serve as the critical lens for this analysis. Two productions of Ibsen s work will provide the performances for analysis: director Patrick Garland s 1973 film starring Claire Bloom and Anthony Hopkins, and Mabou Mines postmodern adaptation. Butler s gender performance theory will help to illuminate the social commentary and underlying themes present in Ibsen s masterpiece and will hopefully reveal aspects of Nora and Torvald s character that were perhaps hidden until now. I felt uncomfortable around friends that I had known and gone to school with for years. I eventually stopped going out at all and just stayed home, I wouldn t go out to eat with my parents nor would I go out with friends or anything. I started becoming very secluded from everyone.
