How Architecture Can Be Applied to Plato s Definition of...
This essay will be demonstrating how architecture can be applied to Plato s definition of the ideal
person as Kalo k agatho. This essay will be examining the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, the Parthenon,
the Erechtheion and the Temple to Apollo at Bassae. The first monument this essay will be discussing
is the Temple to Zeus at Olympia. The Temple to Zeus was constructed between C. 470 to 450 BCE,
having this temple belong to the Early Classical Period. The Temple of Zeus had the typical features
of the Doric Order, a perisytle, with a rule that the number of columns on the sides should be one more
than double on the front and back (thus the perisytle is 6 X 13), a pronaos, a cella and an opithodomos.
The two columns between the anta in the pronaos and the opithodomos align with the columns along
the front and back of the temple. The temple was constructed in limestone as well as marble for the
roof tiles and the sculptures. Over the entrances of the pronaos and opisthodomos, there were metopes
of the 12 labours of Herakles, athla 1 6 over the opithodomos (west) and athla 7 12 over the cella
(East). One of the main features that this temple is good to look at is because of the pediments. The
west pediment depicts the Battle of Lapiths and Centaurs, while the east pediment depictions the horse
race of Pelops and Oinomaos. As this is the Temple to Zeus, the figure of Zeus as in the center of the
East Pediment, whiles Apollo was the center figure for the west pediment. The

Essay about Review of The Return of the Native by Thomas...
Review of The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy The return of the native was written by Thomas
hardy in 1878, the story is based on a place called Egdon heath. When hardy wrote the novel it was the
time of Charles Darwin, he had written his book ;on the origin of the species so this was a big
influence on hardy s view of god and evolution, it was also the time of the Boer war (1899 1902).
Hardy wrote the novel return of the native to portray how life was in nineteen century Britain was.

The heathfolk might imagine themselves to have civilized their native terrain, but in truth the heath
remains wild, with a character of its own that asserts its will over its human residents. Egdon heath is
an isolated, desolated and wild place, the night bring the heath to life, but the heath folk are even more
afraid of the heath when the sun starts to go down:
Pg 9 looking upwards, a furze cutter would have been inclined to continue his work; looking down, he
would have decided to finish his faggot and go home.
This shows that the men would have carried on working if he hadn t have seen the sky closing in.
The Heath presents a harsh, lonely face which time never changes its appearance. The vegetation
makes it appear to wear a dark brown dress. It is quiet, somber, and tragic by nature, and it seems to
increase the gloominess of both day and night. It is also obscure and mysterious and sometimes
hostile. The people on the heath live and work on the heath even though it is overgrown, obsolete,
obsure and mysterious. The people feel comfortable in the heath if the live by the heaths laws the
heath has been unchanged for ages, except the road that travels its length:

Achieving Sustainable Development Goals At A Un Summit
The United Nations General Assembly has officially adopted the Sustainable Development Goals at a
UN summit in New York City as of September 27, 2015 that are to be globally implemented by 2030.
This essay will discuss goal 13 take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts , along
with its five targets.
Are the Targets Truly Measurable?
The most concretely measureable target under SDG 13 is 13.a. A deadline for this target is clearly
stated along with the funds and specific parties needed to create a global impact. One will be able to
identify progress, or lack of, by 2020. Target 13.b is unspecified and extremely vague, not indicating
effective strategies for its measurability. LDC s often contribute least to climate change yet are
expected to suffer the greatest, there is no specific source in this target to aid these countries in raising
their planning capacities. Target 13.1 is vague making it difficult to assess if a country perhaps has not
achieved this target, it only focuses on extreme events when developing resilience and adaptive
capacity to gradual shifts in climate change is crucial (ICSU, 2015). The target would need further
specification and a timeframe. Target 13.2 can be measured as one can identify if and when climate
change protocols are implemented into a nations policies and whether or not they are put into effect,
however focus on only the national level is too narrow as mitigation policies can be used on different
scales such as

SUBJECT: Bernard Madoff s Ponzi Scheme
DATE: 20 April 2017
This memo aims to discuss the most important facts about the Bernard Madoff s Ponzi Scheme and
demonstrate my position in this case study.
Bernie Madoff is a very well known criminal that committed the biggest fraudulent scheme in U.S.
history. He was an active member of the financial industry. He started his own company in 1960 and
helped launch the Nasdaq stock market. He served as a chair in National Association of Securities
Dealers. He got caught in December 2008 and was sentenced to 150 years in prison for his crime.
Also, five of Madoff employees who were pleaded guilty for helping Madoff conceal his fraud ...

The suggested alternative course of action for upper management was, of course, being open and clear
with investors and applied the best practices in operations. It would have been easier for him to do the
right and the ethical course of actions. He could take the money from the investors and take portions
for himself, then put some in a real business operations. This way would have benefited him and his
investors at the same time. However, He was very greedy and couldn t stand waiting for actual and
reasonable returns out of real business operations. He saw a fast track to be rich and he took

How Have Families Changed Since The 1950 s
Families have definitely changed since the 1950 s. Fathers used to work and provide for the family.
Today, some fathers aren t even in their child s lives. I feel like people want what the TV show
families had, that aired in the 50 s. Fathers would make the money, while mothers would stay home,
take care of the kids, cook, clean and many other things. There are TV shows from the 50 s that show
what a family looked like back then. For example, Leave It to Beaver and Father Knows Best. Those
TV shows are completely different from TV shows about families today, like how they dressed, how
they talk, what the scenery/set look like. This topic intrigued me, because I used to watch a lot of TV
when I was younger. I would ask my grandparents why we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

You can see it through the TV that we watch. In the 1950 s, the families were so mature and
understanding of their kid s problems, helped them through them, and even go through tough
problems together. In 2018 on TV, it seems like the parents don t want to help the kids or even give
them attitude at times. Families on TV shows has changed over the years. I feel like if the directors
and producers would sit and watch a couple shows from the 50 s, maybe they would understand or
possibly change the TV show families in 2018. Add the typical families again. Some people would
quite enjoy that, I would and I know plenty others who would too. All my grandfather watches on TV
are reruns of Leave it to Beaver, M.A.S.H (which isn t about families much but still was made a long
time ago), I Love Lucy, and Gunsmoke (again not about families but he just enjoys them from back
then). We should bring back the old time TV shows about

Cultural Diversity For The Health Care System
The term culture has a very broad definition that encompasses the values, beliefs, customs, religions,
behaviors, traditions and the collective attitudes of a group of people (Williamson Harrison, 2010). In
1971, Canada was one of the first countries in the world to adopt multiculturalism as a national policy
(Government of Canada, 2012). Since then, Canadians have prided themselves on being accepting of
cultural diversity and recognizing equal rights for all citizens, regardless of country of origin
(Government of Canada, 2012). However, cultural diversity presents challenges for the health care
system as people of various cultures have different expectations and requirements of healthcare (De
Miao Kemp, 2010). This is not an issue that is unique to Canada, but one that extends to all countries
which encourage multiculturalism. Indeed it has been found that immigrants often experience
declining health and dissatisfactory medical care compared to the native population due to issues in
language, accessibility, social support, and familiarity with the health care system (Pollock, Newbold,
Lafrenière Edge, 2012; De Miao Kemp, 2010). Therefore, there is an increased emphasis for nurses
and other health care professionals to develop cultural competence. As I will show in this paper,
working in a culturally diverse society requires nurses to adapt their caring strategies to cater to the
cultural needs of their patients. I will then expand on how my own personal experiences

The History Of Big Data
In recent years, there has been an increasing emphasis on big data, business analytics, and smart living
and work environments. Though these conversations are predominantly practice driven, organizations
are exploring how large volume data can usefully be deployed to create and capture value for
individuals, businesses, communities, and governments (McKinsey Global Institute, 2011). Big data
refers to data volumes in the range of exabytes (1018) and beyond. Such volumes exceed the capacity
of current on line storage systems and processing systems. Data, information, and knowledge are
being created and collected at a rate that is rapidly approaching the exabyte/year range. But, its
creation and aggregation are accelerating and will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ability to apprehend the interrelationships of presented facts in such a way as to guide action towards a
desired goal. An article in the New Statesman refers to the difficulty in managing the increasing
amount of information becoming available (Marr, 2015). 1965 1989 The world s first data center to

French Culture Essay
The French are all about preserving their culture and being individualized. They often take great pride
in the French products and the French style, and believe in keeping the French culture pure so they
also limit the amount of foreign goods that are being imported. But during the World Wars the French
began to allow foreigners to immigrate into France to take jobs due to an increase in job shortages.
The immigration from the World Wars added to the diversity of the French culture. Ever since the
1850 s there has been a steady flow of immigration into France, and now nine percent of the French
population is made up of immigrants (Gofen 62). The break down of the cultures in France is eighty

But, France did allow foreigners to immigrate into France after the World Wars, but this is of coarse is
going to add to the diversity of culture in France. When the French needed foreigners, they did not
mind that they came into their country, knowing that it would create diversity of religion. But now,
they are not allowing religious symbols in schools because the French want to preserve their language
and culture. So, it seems a bit ironic don t you think?
Currently, the French want to ban the wearing of religious symbols in public schools so that there is no
social tension, and to keep the main religion in France (Roman Catholicism) pure (Gofen 63). But
even though the French say they want to keep their culture pure, in reality since the world wars,
religions such as Islam and Judaism have in fact become a part of their culture. Once again, the French
let in other cultures knowingly, and once the cultural diversity begins, all the religions are apart of a
country s culture. An example of a religious symbol that the French are considering to ban is the
Burka. A Burka is an outfit worn by Muslim females that cover them head to toe. Some, who want to
ban the burka say that it is disrespectful to women and can be degrading. But, 64 million people in
France are Muslim. By wearing a Burka they are just following their religion and are also following
tradition (French). One other big controversy regarding religious symbols is the banning of

demonstrated how the questions, syllabus outcomes and the major components of the unit were
integrated.
The examination was a 60 minutes test with 10 minutes reading time. The first section of the
examination was a creative writing essay and 40 minutes was allocated to complete it. The second
section, which consisted of 11 multiples choice questions, was allocated 20 minutes for completion.

Fraternal Twins Nature Vs Nurture
Twins are a unique twist to life. Families are blessed with one pregnancy and two children. Twins
open a portal for researchers to study the oldest debate in psychology; nature vs. nurture, a concept
that seems to stump many and have few models to learn from. Essentially, there are two types of
twins. There are identical twins, who are monozygotic, developing from a single fertilized egg, split.
Then, there are fraternal twins, who come from two separate fertilized eggs, making them dizygotic.
Identical twins share 100% of their DNA, practically making them clones; while fraternal twins share
50% DNA. When studying twins, many scientists use both identical and fraternal twins to analyze
how the environment and genetic makeup can influence attitude ... Show more content on

Twin studies are vital for behavioral genetics in the sense that researchers can study how genetics can
influence certain traits. For example, identical twins many be raised in the same household and both
enjoy horseback riding, while a set of fraternal twins may not both enjoy horseback riding. The
standard study conducted is based on twins raised in the same family environment, as this method can
show how life experiences play a role. Many twins are raised in the same home and share a lot of the
same experiences, which can impact their behavior, no matter the genetic makeup. A significant theory
associated with twin studies is the Random Mating theory. In this theory, researchers tend to assume
that people are as likely to choose partners who are different from themselves as they are to choose
partners who are similar for a particular trait (2017). While twin studies are essential in gathering data
for behavioral genetics, they can only estimate the heritability of a trait, while molecular genetics
attempts to pinpoint the effects of a particular gene. While twins who grow up in a similar
environment is the ideal method used, there are cases that involve twins who grew up in separate
environments. In Joseph s (2014) piece, he reviews common facts and fallacies associated with studies
on twins reared apart. It was found that, a particular study,

Statement Of Purpose For Fashion
Every person I know strongly believes that fashion only stands for the clothes one wears. To my mind,
however, it is a form of art, a body language, a manner to fully express oneself, one s feelings or one s
mood, clichéd as it may sound. This versatility, combined with the possibility to enhance my creative
and managerial skills, is the reason why I feel further studies in fashion management would be the
right path for my future career.

are without having to speak and I believe that this quote describes at its finest the fashion industry a
world without barriers in which you can play with colors, textiles, your own ideas without being
judged. You can be whatever you want, dress like how you feel and still be appreciate, because of its
open minded characteristic . You can express the way a soft textile makes you feel, like you are

Language Influences On Children s Formation Of Social...
Social categories such as race and gender can be difficult for children to understand and sort out. It is
already remarkable that they acquire such large amounts of knowledge during their early years, and
social categories are just a small part of that. They start to understand that every object they encounter
has a name through language so it would not be surprising to learn that language plays a vital role in
children s formation of social categories as well. The manner in which adults talk and teach children in
particular are how language influences their thoughts. One example of how children have to sort and
form categories is because they are presented with so many different characteristics about a person
such as language, hair color, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The focus of the investigation was on how children develop categories through noun labels, visual
cues, or non intrinsic cues. The study addressed the hypothesis that young children assimilate social
categories to biological ones, essentializing them as they do species kinds. They explored the
hypothesis that children will differentiate intrinsic cues like skin color over nonintrinsic cues like
clothing when forming representations of social groups. One important theme is that noun labels
encourage children to form categories, especially those that apply to people. In other words, language
appears to play a huge role in forming concepts of race and gender. This idea is interesting because it
contrasts with the norm belief that children make social categorization alone through visual cues as the
children take in all the information around them and as they become more exposed to different parts of
society. Another important idea is that only in the presence of noun labels were visual cues sufficient
to form categories. It conveys that there is a certain way that children think about these social
categories of race and gender (Baron, Dunham, Banaji Carey, 2014).
The study consisted of 24 different white children for each of the seven experiments. In the various
experiments, the first one demonstrated that in the absence of a visual cue, a noun label supports the
social categorization among both four year

A New Generational Anticoagulant Drug
A New Generational Anticoagulant
For many year s patients with atrial fibrillation have been treated with anticoagulants such as Warfarin
to prevent strokes and embolisms. Unfortunately, Warfarin must be closely monitored and that is an
irritant for some patients. In October 2010, the FDA approved a new generational anticoagulant drug
called Dabigatran (Pradaxa). This alternate medication gives patients the benefit of no dietary
restrictions since dabigatran is not affected by certain foods. Another benefit of taking dabigatran is a
monthly blood test is not required to measure its effectiveness, so for this particular reason many
patients switch from taking other anticoagulants to dabigatran (Talati White, 2011). Since this
medication does not require close monitoring, some wonder if is it truly a better option or can more
harm than good come from taking it. While the benefits of using dabigatran have shown significant
improvement over warfarin, there are still risks associated with using dabigatran. Atrial fibrillation is
the most common arrhythmia that puts patients at high risk for ischemic strokes. Doctors will
diagnosis atrial fibrillation by performing an electrocardiogram. The majority of patients that develop
atrial fibrillation are over the age of 65 years old and male. Atrial fibrillation can be characterized by
episodes of either paroxysmal or intermittent depending on frequency and length of time before
spontaneously stopping. It can also be persistent or

White Man s Influence On Our Land
This is the world in which we live: a world in which the white man robs us of tradition and deprives us
of the lands that have sheltered our generation, our fathers generations, and our ancestors generations.
What harm have we done to deserve this? We merely desire to reside on our lands, vast expanses of
beautifully rugged terrain, in peace. And why must this simple right ever come into question? Yet
question it they do. Flouncing on our land, a group of white men have declared to us that everything
we know is about to change. Without permission or concern for us, they began a process of
expropriating our land from us. They announced to us, these people who invaded our land, that our
lands belong to them; henceforth we are to be moved to new land, inadequate land, land they call
reservations. Do they not realize that these lands that we live upon hold bonds, sacred and treasured,

Winston Smith From Spongebob Squarepants
Intro Essay I am sure that everyone, at least once, has compared themselves to a character from their
favorite literary work or movie. Oftentimes parallels can be, and are drawn between the audience
members and the characters on the page or screen. Other times people contrast themselves to
characters, pointing out the stark differences between their real world lives and the high adventure
thrills of the life of the character in question. In this essay,I will compare myself to the personalities of
Winston Smith from 1984, putting focus on our shared inquisitive and skeptical nature, as well as that
of Spongebob Squarepants, with his cheerful disposition and sense of childlike wonder. And finally, I
will be comparing myself with Russell, the kid from UP. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

environment is the way things should be. He is seen searching for the truth and is always weary about
what may lie ahead. Although I do not ask questions on the same grand scale as Winston, I do have a
naturally inquisitive, and somewhat skeptical nature. I find myself interested in the most abstract and
bizarre concepts, sometimes relating to the possibility of time travel through quantum particles, and
other times something as trivial as movie trivia. Despite my desire to learn new concepts and ideas, I
can often times lose interest in things I have trouble understanding. This is where I believe Winston
and I share some common ground. We are both incredibly curious and at the same time held back by
skepticism of the

opportunities and produce a learning environment that fosters critical thinking, they are failing their
students. Critical thinking allows students to see things from different perspectives in an unbiased
way. It also encourages students to think for themselves and to question things. Finally, it teaches
students that learning is fluid and builds upon itself. Learning to think critically takes time; and
teachers can use questions, cooperative learning, and feedback to help students develop this important
skill that they will use all of their lives. Professional Knowledge Base One way that teachers can
develop critical thinking in students is by asking questions (Barell, 2003). Questioning makes students
look at things from different perspectives (Clark Whitney, 2009). According to a recent study by Clark
and Whitney (2009), Seeing things from different perspectives allows students to see things as if they
are walking in their shoes (p. 530). This allows students to see the bigger picture. Students do not
know everything about every single topic, so it gives others a chance to persuade students thinking.
While listening to other s ideas, students must keep an open mind and think about the other person s
background while considering the information they are providing (Beckham, 2001). 1 John 4:1 says,
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the

Ella Was Born On The Jungle
Ella was born on August 23, 2008. She lives in Calgary, AB. Ella enjoys arts and crafts, swimming,
and playing the violin. She has a dog named Zoe, whom she loves playing with and taking for walks.
Rylin heard a bird tweet as he stepped into the jungle. Rylin had long brown hair. He wore a grey T
shirt and red shorts. The jungle was very quiet. But on the other hand, Rylin was very loud. The jungle
had all types of plants growing. To name a few, there were daffodils, blueberries, and roses.
As he was walking, he heard something in the bushes. Maybe it s just a bunny? thought Rylin. Just
then, a jaguar jumped out! Ahh! shouted Rylin.
When he started to run, the jaguar ran after him. He tried to hide in a tree, but the jaguar jumped up ...

I took a deep breath and followed the smell, which led me to a chocolate pyramid, which I recognized
as the one I got while trick or treating.
Then I noticed I was holding my bag of candy. I wanted to taste the chocolate, so I broke off a piece
and ate it.
Right after I finished, mummies jumped out of the hole of the pyramid. I was too stunned to move, so
I tossed some candy. They stopped running towards me and darted for the candy. I ran away, but
another group of mummies came darting towards me. I threw the leftovers of my candy, turned
around, ran a little, turned left, and ran. Even more mummies came darting towards me! I turned
around and ran as fast as I could, but I tripped on a rock, went soaring into the air, and fell into a hole.
Chapter Three: Back Home . . . with Even More Candy!
Surprisingly, it was only a second until I ended up crashing onto the sofa with the television on. I was
relieved to be home.
Suddenly, two mummies came running towards me from the kitchen and yelled, Boooo! I was so
scared that I jumped up from my seat, thinking, Oh no! These mummies followed me out of the hole!
But then the tall one said, Happy Halloween! and held out a large bag of candy. Then, I noticed from
the voice that these were actually my parents in mummy costumes. I was relieved there were no actual
mommies but just Mum.
If a stranger looked in from outside, they would think there were two mummies eating candy with a
child.

Mind Control Research Paper
The advertising industry has infiltrated not only into people s daily lives but also into every aspect of
society. When people wake up in the morning, the first thing they hear on their radio is the latest
coffee flavor from Dunkin Donuts. Before people go to bed at night, the last thing they see on their
television is the latest bleach improvement on the toothpaste tube. Most people pay no attention to
these advertisements as they drive by the H M billboard on a random trip to the mall. As a result, those
same people fail to realize the mind games advertisers have been playing on their subconscious minds
for the past thirty years. Those same advertisers have basically taken control of people s lives without
them even having the slightest idea.
Advertisers have two main goals. Their first goal is to be appealing and attract attention to a brand or
company and its products. The second goal is to be encouraging and tempt consumers to purchase
those products. However, not only are advertisers committing such actions. Businesses also frequently
use precise tactics intended to manipulate consumers toward specific products. This leads us to the

Argumentative Essay On Comedy
Comedy is defined as professional entertainment consisting of jokes and satirical sketches, intended to
make an audience laugh. Comedy is meant to make you laugh, whether it is a joke against the world or
the comedian is using themselves or their personal experiences to get an audience to relate to it,
making them laugh. Comedians use different techniques to connect with their audience. According to
Mel Brooks, Humor is just another defense against the universe. Many comedians such as, George

Economics of the Financial System
Show how transactions in derivatives can be used to either hedge risk or to open speculative positions.
Derivatives have become popular in response to the increasing volatility and complexity of financial
markets. A diverse range of new financial products have been created to enable market participants to
handle the risks arising from trade in securities and to speculate on future expected movements in
securities prices, without direct trade in the assets themselves. Derivative contract creates a promise to

If stock prices plunge over this period, the index will fall as well, and so will the futures contract on
the index in response. Amana will profit on its future position, because the future price paid at which
the index is sold will be less than price paid for the index at settlement date.
After a month, the stock market falls as anticipated, and the futures price of the DJIA is at an index
level of 19,000. DJIA futures contract are rated at £10 the DJIA index, so Amana stands to gain. Sold

owes 19,000 times £10 =£190,000 Gain is £200,000 £190,000 = £10,000
This shows that Amana benefits from selling a DJIA futures contract. Amana has gained from a

A Comparison of Exxon and Chevron
Executive Summary Exxon and Chevron are no doubt some of the leading incorporated oil companies
on the globe. Exxon Corp. is the second largest oil firm after Royal Dutch Shell, it is respected for
getting the biggest revenue return in 2008 which no company in the U.S. have ever reported before.
According to Wilson (2009) Chevron has managed to show a lot of profitability in the market despite
the decease in its oil production. It graded as one of firms which made a billion dollars profit within a
week in the period of July to September 2008. Regardless of profitability trends set by the two oil
firms in the U.S. market, they have been facing financial decline like the rest of the companies in other
industries. The two firms are like two sailing ships which are taking longer time to sink. In the last few
years, the production capacity of Chevron and Exxon has decreased and their listings on the stock
market have become weak. The continuation of construction and drilling which requires billions of
dollars in expense of oil production might make them experience a bigger financial crisis (Wilson,
2009). Exxon and Chevron are so different in a number of ways. When you compare Chevron to
Exxon, Chevron is a smaller firm. The ratios of Exxon are relatively larger than Chevron s.
Nevertheless, Chevron has a got a wide net working capital and market ratio than its counterpart
Exxon. This therefore, means that because its larger networking capital, Chevron needs a lot of money

A common aspect of digital forensics is that it involves the use of various analyzing tools and
techniques in the examination of evidence. It requires scrupulously accurate standards that must stand
up against cross examination in courts. According to Casey (2011) the outcome to digital forensic
should be to follow the tails that offenders leave during the commission of a crime and to tie
perpetrators to the victims and crime scenes (pg16). Digital forensics involves applying computer
investigation skills and analysis techniques to solve crimes and provide evidence to support your case.
Digital forensics attempts to extract certain types of data from electronic devices; organize and
document this information into an official report form to be presented in a court of law. Digital
forensic is a methodology science that using various analyzing techniques in the interest of
determining potential legal evidence. A more technically definition of digital forensics is that it is a
specialized science that uses techniques, processes, and procedures to preserve, extract, analyze, and
present electronic evidence. (Dahake amp; Daware, 2012)
The field of digital forensics has grown to become a science in itself; in the last decade, digital

The Debate On Human Genetic Engineering
Long Stance Paper on Human Genetic Engineering The debate on whether human genetic engineering
should be researched and used as the main alternative solution to disease have been going on since the
creation of the human genetic engineering phenomenon. The ethical question is clear: should money
be invested in human genetic engineering and should we research it at all, even if it is formally
criticized by all monotheistic religions? The ethical principles in conflict are beneficence (people with
fatal diseases could be cured) and non maleficence (undermines the will of God, according to religious
groups and in addition, there is no guarantee of successful results). My stance on this debated topic is
that human genetic engineering should not be funded or researched, as there is no 100% guarantee that
it will be successful, and in addition, I am a very religious person, and in my opinion, the body that a
person has is a gift of God, and it should not be changed in any ways. However, there are still
thousands of people with fatal diseases who have no hope for surviving, and human genetic
engineering could serve as the only hope for them. There are many sides that can be affected either
positively or negatively if human genetic engineering is funded and researched, however, the major
stakeholders are primarily the government of US and private companies who fund all the experiments,
people with fatal diseases who hope for any type of cure., and the science in general, because if

Vision Zero policies have proved effective in the United States. Minnesota, Utah and Washington
State, traffic fatalities have fallen steadily since the introduction of Vision Zero style programs in the
early 2000 s; a 43% reduction in Minnesota, 48% reduction in Utah and a 40% decrease in
Washington. While traffic fatalities nationwide are falling, largely due to improvements in
emergency/trauma care and vehicle enhancements such as airbags, fatality rates in Vision Zero states
fell over 25% faster than the nation since 1997.
This report investigates existing city Vision Zero policies and programs in other cities in the United

Losing weight, combined with sleeping in a chair, may have contributed to Lily having a suspected
pressure ulcer. Unrelieved pressure, from sitting in a chair for long periods, squeezes the tiny blood
vessels in the skin which supply the tissues with oxygen and nutrients. The tissues die when deprived
of oxygen and nutrients for too long (Harris, 2009). Older people and those experiencing impaired
nutrition are among the groups at risk of developing pressure ulcers (NICE, 2005). The Malnutrition

The Age Determination Of Latent Prints
The amount of information that can be obtained through someone s hands is astounding. One can
determine the years of scarring from hard work, or the blisters from misuse. The most information can
be obtained at the very tips of fingers, and what they leave behind. Fingerprints supply great evidence
to help identify who was there, and possibly how many people were there. However, the problem
becomes that there are too many prints found at one scene. It is difficult to try and determine when
they were made based on physical appearance and common techniques. Nowadays, the age
determination of latent prints can be achieved with a new approach using the sweaty residue of latent
prints, and a small electrical charge. In 2011, a group from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In a laboratory setting, they set up multiple stations where they had placed two fingerprints from the
same people, at different times. The results of the experiment showed that after 14 days of being left
alone, the prints left behind on nonconductive surfaces showed significant electric decay. They were
then able to determine which print was placed earlier, and which later (Watson, Prance, Beardsmore
Rust, Prance, 2011). The scanner works on the residue left behind in the latent prints, which is mainly
the different forms of sweat. Sweat by itself is a combination of organic molecules, lipids, amino
acids, and inorganic free ions (Yamashita French, n.d.). These free ions act as an electrolyte solution,
and allow electrical currents to be passed through, and returned to the original source to complete the
current. By measuring where the current is completed, the scanner can construct a digital image of
what the print would look like. The scanner s released charge must be small enough to have a reaction
from the latent residue, but it cannot be too large as to have a reaction from the surface in question.
Although the scanner works in a laboratory setting, there are still many problems that need to be
addressed before it can be applied to the field. The first is that the testing surface needs to be
nonconductive. The main reason for a nonconductive surface is that the charge

Victor Hugo Essay
Description
Victor Hugo describes a strong need for social reform, especially in the prison system, in France
during the post Renaissance period (1815 mid 1800 s). Hugo, in symbolizing this theme, refers to a
broad spectrum of historical events in France such as the Battle of Waterloo where Napoleon was
defeated.
In the beginning Jean Valjean, the protagonist of the novel, is a criminal on parole. The day he is
released from prison he is wandering looking for a place to stay. No one will take him in except for a
Bishop, M. Myriel. M. Myriel is more than willing to help Valjean . Valjean is shocked by the bishop s
benevolence and trust, but remembers his hatred towards society for imprisoning him for 19 years.
When the bishop goes to sleep Valjean is tempted to steal his silver silverware which was brought out
at dinner. Valjean takes the silver and is arrested the next day. The police bring him back to the village
where the bishop lives, upon returning the bishop says that he gave Valjean the silver and then gives
Valjean silver candlesticks too saying that he had forgotten to take them. The only thing the bishop
asks of Valjean is that he changes to be a better man. Valjean is now intent on changing, but while
walking out of the village he finds a little boy flipping a silver coin. When the coin ... Show more

The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Adicie Essay
Single Stories are Problematic
In the world we live in now it has become easy to stereotype and create a single story about certain
people and situations, whether it s intentional or not. In 2009, a Nigerian novelist named Chimamanda
Adichie gave an amazing TED talk called The Danger of the Single Story . A single story more or less
means an incomplete or inaccurate viewpoint of a person or culture based on a story created from a
single experience. When one hears the same story over and over again, we start believing only that
story. Adichie claims that creating single stories is problematic and rely on power, a single story I
decided to present is how people believe police officers are abusing their power, and I believe the
media is at fault. For one to truly understand a story we must listen to the root of the story. Her speech
made me realize and view things differently. In the The Danger of a Single Story , Chimamanda
Adicie tells her own personal experiences of a single story and how that can become challenging. She
talks about when she started reading and writing at a young age. She read British and American
children s books. When she started writing all her characters were white and blue eyed just like in the
books. It wasn t until writers Chinua Achebe and Camara Laye that she realized people like her,
people of color, could exist in literature. Adichie s says what the discovery of African writers did for

It s hard to believe, but the season of fall has been with us since the near end of September, however
many of us haven t seem to put away our summer attire and for good reason too. No one wants to
sweat more than they have to. I say have to because sweating is a part of life. Many creatures get hot,
but the way they stay cool and regulate their temperature varies. In the science article How Animals
Keep Their Cool by Johanna Mayer, she explains how animals have evolved to beat the heat .
Humans are able to regulate their body temperature by sweating. Sweating, also known as perspiration
is explained as the release of a salt based fluid from our sweat glands. As sweat evaporates from the

Mayer, once more makes this idea simple for all reads to truly comprehend the idea that she has
explained. Mayer wants her readers to imagine running their palm across a surface; i infer a smooth
one, because her imagery she writes is our palms should slide across. The sweat from a cat paw tells
them to grip the floor or couch to avoid sliding across the floor or falling off the couch.
The article does note that horses primary cooling mechanism is panting, like our four legged house
pets, yet it is the horse s snout that helps with the process. Lizards also have a unique way to stay cool,
which can result in moving between warmer and cooler areas or standing still, with its mouth opening.
Lizards tend to open their mouths to allow evaporation to occur. Lizards do not have an internal
mechanism to adjust their body temperature, and must make adjustment to their behavior to cool off.
Butterflies have a similar cool off method compared to lizards because they move into shady areas.
Butterflies can cool themselves while flying too.
Most humans can tolerate being in the heat for long periods of time because we can constantly sweat
to cool ourselves off. This is why there are so many different types of deodorant companies and styles.
Humans have a specific kind of sweat gland called eccrine glands that allows us to cool off. Mayer
states some hypothesis as to why and how did

Literary Analysis Of Eve Of St. Agnes
Eve of St. Agnes had an overwhelming amount of information to take in, and I mean a lot. The setting
where the poem had taken place is what had drawn me in from the get go. What s more thrilling than
an enchanting gothic castle, twisting hallways, the concept forbidden love being tossed around,
medieval feasts, bloodlust dating back all the way to ancient times? I felt as if I was traveling through
time each page I had turned.
The initial part of the poem had major Romeo and Juliet characteristics with Keats giving Porphyro
and Madeline s families a rivalry, but never actually telling his readers how they got it. Personally, I
felt like we really weren t able to grasp how these two kids even got together either or what their
relationship is really like. Instead, Keats relied heavily on the star crossed lovers kept apart by the
family feud motif to get his readers to vividly fill in the blanks.
Nevertheless, Porphyro is a jerk. He turned out to not be the romantic hero I initially had perceived
him to be. My dumb, naive, and sappy heart thought it was adorable that he strategized this plan to run
away with his girlfriend, the alleged love of his life, who had also happened to be part of the bloodline
that is in rivalry with his. I had already taken on this abstract picture in my mind of some cute prince
whisking this princess off her feet, running off into the sunset on a horse, and with her in his arms.
But that picture got annihilated when he had cynically tricked

Essay about Formal Analysis of Relief of a Winged Genius
Formal Analysis of
Relief of a Winged Genius
Yahaira Guzman
Art History
09/29/10
Relief of a winged genius is a two dimensional stone relief sculpture currently located on the first
floor of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, in the Ancient Near East
Gallery (Accession number: 81.56). It is an Assyrian artifact excavated from the palace walls of the
capital of ancient Nimrud, dating between 883 859 B.C. The unknown artist s deliberate use of size,
material, scale, style and content, together with the sculpture s original setting, reflects the politically
driven agenda during the reign of
Ashurnasirpal II.
Upon first viewing Relief of a winged genius, one cannot help but notice the enormity of the stone ...

After one takes in the armed and protective aura of the Winged Being, the eyes are struck by the the
very detailed workings of his hair and beard. His thick, curly and luxuriant hair suggests the kind of
hair that only the most virile of men posess. This human aspect of the winged being serves as way to
reflect the kings own power and virility. In terms of the object s anatomy, one notices the markings
that are inscribed over the area that encompasses the space directly above his left knee and below the
top of the sword in his right hand, spanning the full width of the sculpture. These markings are
actually text and is a form of writing technique called Cuneiform. The same text that is on Relief of A
Winged Genius also appears on other reliefs within the palace walls. The inscription tells of the story
of the kings lineage, his military victories, how he founded
Kalhu (present day Nimrud, Iraq) and built his palace. These inscriptions are a perfect example of
political propaganda which purposely highlight the kings skill and accomplishments. Considering the
artist s choice of medium, form, and content, it s clear that he or she chose their elements very
carefully to convey a message of power, strength, and permanence to the intended viewer at the time.
It s clear that this artist was comissioned by Ashurnasirpal II

Negotiation Essay
Negotiation
Point
quot;Effective negotiation is not about conflict. It is not about deviance or dishonesty. It is not about
posturing, or bullying, or threatening. Effective negotiation is about exhaustive preparation, utter
clarity, heartfelt communication, and a sincere, demonstrated desire to fully understand not just your
own needs, but the needs of the other party. quot; Leigh Stienberg: Winning with Integrity.
Reason
Does every thing in life revolve around negotiating? Your relationship with family, friends, significant
other, school, church, work, does every thing have to be a negotiated? I feel the answer is of course
quot;Yes. quot; I want to feel I get value for what I m spending, whether it is time, talent or money. As

Go up you opponents ladder as high as you can reach.
The Second is setting your goals and limits. Set limits before you negotiate. Knowing what your limits
are will allow you to make more rapid decisions during the course of negotiations. BATNA?
quot;Your BATNA is your Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement quot; I first read this term in
Entrepreneurial Edge Magazine then I did some research and found it s source given to two different
parties one being The Harvard Negotiating Institute and the other being. William Ury and Roger
Fisher. Getting to Yes I believe the credit goes to both because Ury and Fisher were part of the
Harvard Negotiating Project. Anyway what does BATNA really mean; it is the best way to fulfill your
needs and interests without the other s agreement.
Knowing your limits gives you the strength and confidence to walk away when needed. Try and not
back yourself into a corner with no way out. Leave an alternative when ever possible. Having set
limits are good but don t make the bottom line so inflexible that you can t reexamine someone s offer
in a different light. Knowing when no deal is the best thing for you can be a hard decision at times.
What will happen if I can t reach an agreement? Letting go of the pressure for a deal may lead to
another deal down the road. Knowing when to fish or cut bait is important. quot; There s always
another Deal around the corner. quot;

  • 2. How Architecture Can Be Applied to Plato s Definition of... This essay will be demonstrating how architecture can be applied to Plato s definition of the ideal person as Kalo k agatho. This essay will be examining the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion and the Temple to Apollo at Bassae. The first monument this essay will be discussing is the Temple to Zeus at Olympia. The Temple to Zeus was constructed between C. 470 to 450 BCE, having this temple belong to the Early Classical Period. The Temple of Zeus had the typical features of the Doric Order, a perisytle, with a rule that the number of columns on the sides should be one more than double on the front and back (thus the perisytle is 6 X 13), a pronaos, a cella and an opithodomos. The two columns between the anta in the pronaos and the opithodomos align with the columns along the front and back of the temple. The temple was constructed in limestone as well as marble for the roof tiles and the sculptures. Over the entrances of the pronaos and opisthodomos, there were metopes of the 12 labours of Herakles, athla 1 6 over the opithodomos (west) and athla 7 12 over the cella (East). One of the main features that this temple is good to look at is because of the pediments. The west pediment depicts the Battle of Lapiths and Centaurs, while the east pediment depictions the horse race of Pelops and Oinomaos. As this is the Temple to Zeus, the figure of Zeus as in the center of the East Pediment, whiles Apollo was the center figure for the west pediment. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When hardy wrote the novel it was the time of Charles Darwin, he had written his book ;on the origin of the species so this was a big influence on hardy s view of god and evolution, it was also the time of the Boer war (1899 1902). The heathfolk might imagine themselves to have civilized their native terrain, but in truth the heath remains wild, with a character of its own that asserts its will over its human residents. Egdon heath is an isolated, desolated and wild place, the night bring the heath to life, but the heath folk are even more afraid of the heath when the sun starts to go down: Pg 9 looking upwards, a furze cutter would have been inclined to continue his work; looking down, he would have decided to finish his faggot and go home. This shows that the men would have carried on working if he hadn t have seen the sky closing in. The Heath presents a harsh, lonely face which time never changes its appearance. The vegetation makes it appear to wear a dark brown dress. It is quiet, somber, and tragic by nature, and it seems to increase the gloominess of both day and night. It is also obscure and mysterious and sometimes hostile. The people on the heath live and work on the heath even though it is overgrown, obsolete, obsure and mysterious. The people feel comfortable in the heath if the live by the heaths laws the heath has been unchanged for ages, except the road that travels its length: pg. 12 the sea changed, the ... Achieving Sustainable Development Goals At A Un Summit The United Nations General Assembly has officially adopted the Sustainable Development Goals at a UN summit in New York City as of September 27, 2015 that are to be globally implemented by 2030. This essay will discuss goal 13 take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts , along with its five targets. Are the Targets Truly Measurable? The most concretely measureable target under SDG 13 is 13.a. A deadline for this target is clearly stated along with the funds and specific parties needed to create a global impact. One will be able to identify progress, or lack of, by 2020. Target 13.b is unspecified and extremely vague, not indicating effective strategies for its measurability. LDC s often contribute least to climate change yet are expected to suffer the greatest, there is no specific source in this target to aid these countries in raising their planning capacities. Target 13.1 is vague making it difficult to assess if a country perhaps has not achieved this target, it only focuses on extreme events when developing resilience and adaptive capacity to gradual shifts in climate change is crucial (ICSU, 2015). The target would need further specification and a timeframe. Today, some fathers aren t even in their child s lives. I feel like people want what the TV show families had, that aired in the 50 s. Fathers would make the money, while mothers would stay home, take care of the kids, cook, clean and many other things. There are TV shows from the 50 s that show what a family looked like back then. For example, Leave It to Beaver and Father Knows Best. Those TV shows are completely different from TV shows about families today, like how they dressed, how they talk, what the scenery/set look like. • 7. Cultural Diversity For The Health Care System The term culture has a very broad definition that encompasses the values, beliefs, customs, religions, behaviors, traditions and the collective attitudes of a group of people (Williamson Harrison, 2010). In 1971, Canada was one of the first countries in the world to adopt multiculturalism as a national policy (Government of Canada, 2012). Since then, Canadians have prided themselves on being accepting of cultural diversity and recognizing equal rights for all citizens, regardless of country of origin (Government of Canada, 2012). However, cultural diversity presents challenges for the health care system as people of various cultures have different expectations and requirements of healthcare (De Miao Kemp, 2010). This is not an issue that is unique to Canada, but one that extends to all countries which encourage multiculturalism. Indeed it has been found that immigrants often experience declining health and dissatisfactory medical care compared to the native population due to issues in language, accessibility, social support, and familiarity with the health care system (Pollock, Newbold, Lafrenière Edge, 2012; De Miao Kemp, 2010). Therefore, there is an increased emphasis for nurses and other health care professionals to develop cultural competence. As I will show in this paper, working in a culturally diverse society requires nurses to adapt their caring strategies to cater to the cultural needs of their patients. I will then expand on how my own personal experiences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Big data refers to data volumes in the range of exabytes (1018) and beyond. Such volumes exceed the capacity of current on line storage systems and processing systems. But, France did allow foreigners to immigrate into France after the World Wars, but this is of coarse is going to add to the diversity of culture in France. When the French needed foreigners, they did not mind that they came into their country, knowing that it would create diversity of religion. But now, they are not allowing religious symbols in schools because the French want to preserve their language and culture. So, it seems a bit ironic don t you think? Currently, the French want to ban the wearing of religious symbols in public schools so that there is no social tension, and to keep the main religion in France (Roman Catholicism) pure (Gofen 63). But even though the French say they want to keep their culture pure, in reality since the world wars, religions such as Islam and Judaism have in fact become a part of their culture. Once again, the French let in other cultures knowingly, and once the cultural diversity begins, all the religions are apart of a country s culture. An example of a religious symbol that the French are considering to ban is the Burka. A Burka is an outfit worn by Muslim females that cover them head to toe. Some, who want to ban the burka say that it is disrespectful to women and can be degrading. But, 64 million people in France are Muslim. Twins open a portal for researchers to study the oldest debate in psychology; nature vs. nurture, a concept that seems to stump many and have few models to learn from. Essentially, there are two types of twins. There are identical twins, who are monozygotic, developing from a single fertilized egg, split. Then, there are fraternal twins, who come from two separate fertilized eggs, making them dizygotic. Identical twins share 100% of their DNA, practically making them clones; while fraternal twins share 50% DNA. Twin studies are vital for behavioral genetics in the sense that researchers can study how genetics can influence certain traits. For example, identical twins many be raised in the same household and both enjoy horseback riding, while a set of fraternal twins may not both enjoy horseback riding. The standard study conducted is based on twins raised in the same family environment, as this method can show how life experiences play a role. Many twins are raised in the same home and share a lot of the same experiences, which can impact their behavior, no matter the genetic makeup. A significant theory associated with twin studies is the Random Mating theory. In this theory, researchers tend to assume that people are as likely to choose partners who are different from themselves as they are to choose partners who are similar for a particular trait (2017). While twin studies are essential in gathering data for behavioral genetics, they can only estimate the heritability of a trait, while molecular genetics attempts to pinpoint the effects of a particular gene. While twins who grow up in a similar environment is the ideal method used, there are cases that involve twins who grew up in separate environments. It is already remarkable that they acquire such large amounts of knowledge during their early years, and social categories are just a small part of that. They start to understand that every object they encounter has a name through language so it would not be surprising to learn that language plays a vital role in children s formation of social categories as well. The manner in which adults talk and teach children in particular are how language influences their thoughts. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The focus of the investigation was on how children develop categories through noun labels, visual cues, or non intrinsic cues. The study addressed the hypothesis that young children assimilate social categories to biological ones, essentializing them as they do species kinds. They explored the hypothesis that children will differentiate intrinsic cues like skin color over nonintrinsic cues like clothing when forming representations of social groups. One important theme is that noun labels encourage children to form categories, especially those that apply to people. In other words, language appears to play a huge role in forming concepts of race and gender. This idea is interesting because it contrasts with the norm belief that children make social categorization alone through visual cues as the children take in all the information around them and as they become more exposed to different parts of society. Another important idea is that only in the presence of noun labels were visual cues sufficient to form categories. It conveys that there is a certain way that children think about these social categories of race and gender (Baron, Dunham, Banaji Carey, 2014). A New Generational Anticoagulant Drug A New Generational Anticoagulant For many year s patients with atrial fibrillation have been treated with anticoagulants such as Warfarin to prevent strokes and embolisms. Unfortunately, Warfarin must be closely monitored and that is an irritant for some patients. In October 2010, the FDA approved a new generational anticoagulant drug called Dabigatran (Pradaxa). This alternate medication gives patients the benefit of no dietary restrictions since dabigatran is not affected by certain foods. Another benefit of taking dabigatran is a monthly blood test is not required to measure its effectiveness, so for this particular reason many patients switch from taking other anticoagulants to dabigatran (Talati White, 2011). Since this medication does not require close monitoring, some wonder if is it truly a better option or can more harm than good come from taking it. While the benefits of using dabigatran have shown significant improvement over warfarin, there are still risks associated with using dabigatran. Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia that puts patients at high risk for ischemic strokes. Doctors will diagnosis atrial fibrillation by performing an electrocardiogram. • 21. Developing Critical Thinking Skills Is A Duty Of All Teachers Developing critical thinking skills is a duty of all teachers; and if teachers fail to use learning opportunities and produce a learning environment that fosters critical thinking, they are failing their students. Critical thinking allows students to see things from different perspectives in an unbiased way. It also encourages students to think for themselves and to question things. Finally, it teaches students that learning is fluid and builds upon itself. Learning to think critically takes time; and teachers can use questions, cooperative learning, and feedback to help students develop this important skill that they will use all of their lives. Professional Knowledge Base One way that teachers can develop critical thinking in students is by asking questions (Barell, 2003). Questioning makes students look at things from different perspectives (Clark Whitney, 2009). According to a recent study by Clark and Whitney (2009), Seeing things from different perspectives allows students to see things as if they are walking in their shoes (p. 530). This allows students to see the bigger picture. Students do not know everything about every single topic, so it gives others a chance to persuade students thinking. While listening to other s ideas, students must keep an open mind and think about the other person s background while considering the information they are providing (Beckham, 2001). 1 John 4:1 says, Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the ... Exxon Corp. is the second largest oil firm after Royal Dutch Shell, it is respected for getting the biggest revenue return in 2008 which no company in the U.S. have ever reported before. According to Wilson (2009) Chevron has managed to show a lot of profitability in the market despite the decease in its oil production. It graded as one of firms which made a billion dollars profit within a week in the period of July to September 2008. Regardless of profitability trends set by the two oil firms in the U.S. market, they have been facing financial decline like the rest of the companies in other industries. The two firms are like two sailing ships which are taking longer time to sink. In the last few years, the production capacity of Chevron and Exxon has decreased and their listings on the stock market have become weak. The continuation of construction and drilling which requires billions of dollars in expense of oil production might make them experience a bigger financial crisis (Wilson, 2009). Exxon and Chevron are so different in a number of ways. When you compare Chevron to Exxon, Chevron is a smaller firm. The ratios of Exxon are relatively larger than Chevron s. The Debate On Human Genetic Engineering Long Stance Paper on Human Genetic Engineering The debate on whether human genetic engineering should be researched and used as the main alternative solution to disease have been going on since the creation of the human genetic engineering phenomenon. The ethical question is clear: should money be invested in human genetic engineering and should we research it at all, even if it is formally criticized by all monotheistic religions? The ethical principles in conflict are beneficence (people with fatal diseases could be cured) and non maleficence (undermines the will of God, according to religious groups and in addition, there is no guarantee of successful results). My stance on this debated topic is that human genetic engineering should not be funded or researched, as there is no 100% guarantee that it will be successful, and in addition, I am a very religious person, and in my opinion, the body that a person has is a gift of God, and it should not be changed in any ways. However, there are still thousands of people with fatal diseases who have no hope for surviving, and human genetic engineering could serve as the only hope for them. There are many sides that can be affected either positively or negatively if human genetic engineering is funded and researched, however, the major stakeholders are primarily the government of US and private companies who fund all the experiments, people with fatal diseases who hope for any type of cure., and the science in general, because if ... The tissues die when deprived of oxygen and nutrients for too long (Harris, 2009). Older people and those experiencing impaired nutrition are among the groups at risk of developing pressure ulcers (NICE, 2005). The Malnutrition Advisory Group of BAPEN (British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition) developed the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST), (Perry, 2009). • 35. The Age Determination Of Latent Prints The amount of information that can be obtained through someone s hands is astounding. One can determine the years of scarring from hard work, or the blisters from misuse. The most information can be obtained at the very tips of fingers, and what they leave behind. Fingerprints supply great evidence to help identify who was there, and possibly how many people were there. However, the problem becomes that there are too many prints found at one scene. It is difficult to try and determine when they were made based on physical appearance and common techniques. Nowadays, the age determination of latent prints can be achieved with a new approach using the sweaty residue of latent prints, and a small electrical charge. In 2011, a group from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a laboratory setting, they set up multiple stations where they had placed two fingerprints from the same people, at different times. The results of the experiment showed that after 14 days of being left alone, the prints left behind on nonconductive surfaces showed significant electric decay. They were then able to determine which print was placed earlier, and which later (Watson, Prance, Beardsmore Rust, Prance, 2011). The scanner works on the residue left behind in the latent prints, which is mainly the different forms of sweat. Sweat by itself is a combination of organic molecules, lipids, amino acids, and inorganic free ions (Yamashita French, n.d.). These free ions act as an electrolyte solution, and allow electrical currents to be passed through, and returned to the original source to complete the current. By measuring where the current is completed, the scanner can construct a digital image of what the print would look like. The scanner s released charge must be small enough to have a reaction from the latent residue, but it cannot be too large as to have a reaction from the surface in question. Although the scanner works in a laboratory setting, there are still many problems that need to be addressed before it can be applied to the field. The first is that the testing surface needs to be nonconductive. The main reason for a nonconductive surface is that the charge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A single story more or less means an incomplete or inaccurate viewpoint of a person or culture based on a story created from a single experience.
