Theme Of Identity In A View From The Bridge
You re a blank, a cipher... a zero. (Albee, 1962, p.18). With these words, Martha the main
character in Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? showed her husband, George, that he was nothing.
Edward Albee, the writer of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? talked mainly about Martha and
George who pretend to have different identities just in order not to face reality. Moreover, Arthur
Miller, the author of A View from the Bridge presented the idea of identity in a different way.
Miller used the characterEddie to show how people s identities are constantly changing due to some
changes in their lives. Modern playwrights question the idea of a definite identity.

Eddie is introduced as a moral man with ethics and principles. Miller showed that at the
beginning of the play, Eddie tells the story of a young boy who ratted on immigrant relatives
staying in his home and warn Catherine that she must be absolutely silent about Marco and
Rodolpho. Moreover, there was a discussion between Eddie and Beatrice; where Beatrice is
afraid of her immigrant cousins being caught. Therefore, Eddie told her: listen if everybody keeps
his mouth shut, nothing can happen. They ll pay for their board. (Miller, 1955, p.9).Later in the
story, Eddie revealed a different identity .He was blinded with passion to the point of immorality.
When he knew about Catherine falling in love with Rodolpho, he told Alfieri that he is going to
call the immigration so he can keep Catherine just for him. Even though he knew that he is going
to suffer for calling immigration, but does so anyway .Eddie: Give me the number if the

Planning a Great Family Vacation
After working all year long, sometimes sixty plus hours a week, the mind and body can become
very worn down. You have to have a break or your work performance could suffer. The last part of
winter or the first part of spring, is when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To save money on dining out, purchase groceries to last you for the week. You can buy things to
make sandwiches so that you do not have to spend a lot of your vacation in the kitchen. Also,
purchase things for several home cooked meals so that you will not be tempted to eat out often.
The final step will be packing for your trip. Make a list of things that you will need while on
vacation. Be sure to pack all clothing and toiletries that you will need for a week. Also be sure to
pack any medications that you will need for the length of your stay. As you pack, take the time to
mark things off your list. Did you remember all of the kids swimsuits, floats, water toys and
sunblock? Did you pack snacks for the ride to your destination and games for the kids to play
while riding to keep them from getting bored?
Planning in advance and thoroughly for your vacation is the best way to enjoy your vacation when
the time to go finally arrives. As long as you have planned correctly by reserving your room,
purchasing your supplies, and packing properly, you will have a fabulous and worry free vacation.
You and the whole familywill be able to enjoy your time away, and you will make many
memories to enjoy because you took all the stress and worry out of your vacation by properly
planning the trip. Later on, you will be able to reminisce about all the great times you had with your

Sand County Almanac Quotes
Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land... harmony with land is like harmony
with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left (Pg 189). In less than three
sentences, to me this quote summarizes everything that Leopold is trying to say in his novel.
Metaphorically, the quote is talking about two friends. In regards to the novel, Leopold is saying
that humanity cannot take and use the lands resources without making a conscious effort to
replenish them. The non fiction novel A Sand County Almanac written by Aldo Leopold
characterizes the importance in loving, caring and understanding our environment, land and
ecosystems that surround us. Leopold emphasizes the relevance there is for humans to be conscience

In the section The Land Ethic Leopold emphasizes the need for education, perhaps the most
serious obstacle impeding the evolution of a land ethic is the fact that our educational and
economic system is headed away from, rather than toward, an intense consciousness of land (p.
261). If people are not aware of the seriousness that comes with land conservation, then how are
they supposed to change the way they are acting? There is a necessary need for humans to be
conscience and aware of land use and its importance, but there is no way for this to happen
unless the youth are educated and they continue to educate for generations to come. I believe
Leopold is trying to say that those who understand the land are the ones who should be spreading
their education and knowledge to those who do not. Passing on this knowledge of land ethic is
crucial for the fate of the environment and Earth. Leopold expresses, a system of conservation
based solely on economic self interest is hopelessly lopesided, (p. 251). The self interest
economists who are only interested in the profit of which they gain from the land cannot spread the
importance of the respect for the community. The people who share a knowledge and passion for
the environment will educate those who are unaware. As well as being educated on the land, it is
essential for humanity to understand that we are not users of what Earth has to offer us, but

The Tell Tale Heart Vs The Black Cat
In The Tell Tale heart and The Black Cat there are many similarities from the murder and the
motive of the killer. The man in The Black Cat is irritated and cannot stand to look at the cat or
animals, he feels compelled to harm them much like the man in The Tell Tale Heart feels towards
the man s grey eye. These things is what the murderers claim drove them to commit the crime.
Neither of the cator old man had hurt the perpetrators in anyway, in fact both the men in The Black

what I did. I did not hate the old man; I even loved him. He had never hurt me. The Tell Tale Heart

Essay About Lovy
Once upon a time in Fairy land high above the clouds, there lived a young fairy child named
Lovy with her two elder sisters and her Queen Fairy Mother. The youngest Fairy Lovy was not
mature at all she was more interested in what was going around on Earth. While her elder sisters
listened and learned magiclessons from their FairyMother and learned all the fairy tricks, Lovy
giggled and played games and made up stories and used her fairy imagination to think about
children and playing with them in other lands. In fairy land it was forbidden for fairies to talk to
children on Earth, they were supposed to remain invisible through the power of their magic in front
of land people.

Trauma and Adult Learning Essay
Trauma and Adult Learning
Effects of Trauma on Learning
Adults experiencing the effects of past or current trauma may display such symptoms as difficulty
beginning new tasks, blame, guilt, concern for safety, depression, inability to trust (especially those
in power), fear of risk taking, disturbed sleep, eroded self esteem/confidence, inability to
concentrate, or panic attacks (Mojab and McDonald 2001). Some people may manifest no
symptoms; at the other end of the spectrum is Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, characterized by
flashbacks, avoidance, numbing of responsiveness (including substance abuse), persistent
expectation of danger, constriction (dissociation, zoning out), and memory impairment (Isserlis
2001).
It may not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A number of authors urge reframing of these discourses:
Instead of diagnosing and treating victims, find ways to make the learning environment safer for
everyone (Horsman 1997).
Recognize the role of power in limiting individual agency and choice and the ways in which
institutions make personal and structural violence possible and legitimize it (Pearce 1999).
Acknowledge the hidden learning that occurs through traumatic experiences (Horsman 2000b;
Williamson 2000).
What is learned from trauma and how might educators respond? Studies of people enduring
extreme situations suggest that learning is a key to survival in adversity (Williamson 2000).
Successful learning is supposed to occur when conditions are right: accessible opportunities, time,
appropriate support, safety, motivation, risks with manageable consequences (ibid.). Yet in extreme
situations, learning must take place quickly and without the right conditions. What is learned in
response to trauma is influenced by prior knowledge, background, familial and social relationships,
and personal qualities and abilities (Pearce 1999; Williamson 2000). This is not to blame the
victim for inappropriate learning or responses, but to underscore the importance of resources and
support and the recognition that learning has to be geared to meet a range of individual needs.
Some of the hidden learning from trauma includes the following:

Shell Script Project Paper Guidelines
Shell Scripting Project Paper Guidelines
UNIX system administrators write shell scripts to automate repetitive administrative tasks that
would otherwise take up a large portion of their daily work schedule. For example, a shell script can
be written to perform the nightly system backup. The script can be scheduled in crontab to execute
after hours when the system is not being used. The shell script benefits the company and
administrator since a trip back to work later in the evening is unnecessary.
Many other system administration tasks can be automated to relieve the administrator of having to

The report will be automatically e mailed to the administrator each morning before the start of

Since Linux is free UNIX, anyone is free to use and modify any UNIX shell script developed by
another person or group and posted on the Web. This is what makes Linux such a powerful tool.
Anyone can develop scripts (tools) and then share them with everyone else in the Linux community.
In this manner, scripts are shared, modified, and made more powerful as they progress through
different user environments.
The DeVry book entitled, Rules of Thumb A Guide for Writers, should be consulted for
information on using APA style to cite references and sources of research information. A sample

Women Within The Grecian Culture
Ancient Greece as a place and period time in our extensive history was a place of patriarchal power,
controlled almost entirely by the masculine sphere and association with the Gods. It was a time in
history that produced some of the most famous thinkers however they were all men. Women within
the Grecian culture where very much the passive sex, confined to housework and almost never
educated. It is interesting therefore that the characters that have emerged at the exposure of the
phallic philosophical pen still remain as an ally to the feminist movement and are relevant to our
way of thinking today, acting as feminist pioneers both in theory and literature, helping the canon
evolve years after being written. At a time where scientific... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Medea, the Gorgon monster who seduces men, turning them to stone and Antigone who is arguably
still one of the most powerful images we have of female strength to date. In their own right and
agency, they all act as feminist pioneers Sophocles Antigone, along with Medea are potentially the
best example we have for how Myth has shaped and developed the feminist movement. Sophocles
drama Antigone, written around 441 BCE, is one of his three Theban plays that chronicle the dark
fortunes of the house of Oedipus, king of Thebes. After Oedipus death, there is a struggle over the
kingship between his two sons Eteocles and Polyneices. The army of Polyneices marches on
Thebes and is defeated, but both brothers are killed in the battle. The new ruler, Creon, decrees that
whereas Eteocles will be buried with full honours for defending the city, the rebel Polyneices
must be denied holy rites and left to rot in the field and if anyone disobeys him they are to be
punished by death. The state and patriarchy take high place within the novel as it does in many
Grecian teaching places. The play was used to teach the subjects of the citadel about respect for the
law and respect for society. We must therefore ask questions concerning the place of a feminine
tragic hero, and the effect that it would have had.
Antigone as a rebellious character raises

The Civil Rights Movement And The Civil Rights Movement
The 60 s was a platform for all kinds of cultural revolution. Two of these included the Civil Rights
and anti war Vietnam movements which both emerged at the same time that the Cold War
unfolded. Both of these movements overlapped in numerous ways; they both struggled with the
government trying to silence them to keep an image, with media distortion, not having a clear main
focus, and more. They both related political struggles to domestic ones.
The focus is on two things. The first being the look at the Civil Rights movement under the heat of
the Cold Warand how it affected the movement. The second thing is the anti war Vietnam protests
and how the Civil Rights movement partially contributed to that. It s a look at how both of these
movements were ties from political struggles to domestic struggles. A look at the interactions of
both these movements during their struggles.
The Cold War was a time of high tensions between the Soviet Union and the United Stateswhich
consequently served a purpose in the Civil Rights movement as well. The spotlight directed
towards America forced the government to create a pristine image of America to maintain the
idea that they were capable of being leaders. As Mary L. Dudziak states in Cold War Civil
Rights: Race and the Image of American Democracy, The federal government engaged in a
sustained effort to tell a particular story about race and American democracy: a story of progress, a
story of the triumph of good over evil, a story of

that changed manufacturing and the way people worked. Some inventions included the spinning

machine allowed one spinner to work six or eight threads at a time. (course reader 102) The

With the development of cities the working class ended up living in low income slums. Friedrich
Engels stated in The Condition of the Working Class in England, Every great town had one or
more slums areas into which the working class are packed. (Document 5) The slums then lead to
poorer living conditions such as infected water and poor ventilation, which effected the life span of
the people. Living with the poor condition meant that they were prone to get sick. As Edwin
Chadwich pointed out in his report, That the annual loss of life from filth and bad ventilation are
greater than the loss from death or wounds in any wars in which the country has been engaged in

According to Mega Manila Public Transport Study, on page 7, on Department of Transportation and
Communications in the Philippines, as of 2006, there are 48,366 jeepneys in Metro Manila, while
there are only 2,944 busses.
In other words, there is over 16 times more jeepneys than busses in Metro Manila.
(However, jeepneys are not found only in the capital.)
Jeepneys are common transportation in suburban areas too.
For instance, in Tarlac, the province where I grew up, I use jeepneys for my daily activities.
I used in a jeepney countless times to go to school, mall, church or any other local destination,
because it is cheaper than having my dad drive me.
I remember seeing jeepneys after jeepneys throughout the day, so I never had to worry about
missing my ride on my way to school.
(Whether I am in the capital city or suburban location, jeepneys are used for similar travels.)
It is primarily used for local and short travel.
For example, jeepneys are used to travel distance like from Baruch Campus to Central Park.
Because it is open window and ventilated in a tropical country, jeepneys are not ideally used to

Mesoamerica Agriculture Spread
Agriculture arose in Mesoamerica and China. It takes a longer time for agriculture to supplant
hunter gatherer societies, because of the environmental conditions, such as soil, and lack of
domesticated animals. Axis orientation indicated that it is faster for food, goods and possible
technologies from east to west than from north to south. For example, from southeast Asiato west
Europe and Egypt and to east Indus Valley. It mainly becomes areas with the same latitude share
similar climate and environment. Data proves that innovations of agriculturespread east and west
earlier than north and south. However, Latitude is not always necessary. For example, In China,
despite the climate difference between the North and South, Agriculture spread... Show more

Also, if the soil between two regions cannot support agriculture, the diffusion will never happen,
such as the spread from the American Southwest to American Southeast. Diamond argues that the
ideas like writing also tends to travel east and west than they travel south to north because
technology always follows after the trade of agriculture. For example, the Mesopotamia s writing
diffused to Rome and India, and never to the Andes.
While diffusion occurs between societies, the bad news is the spread of disease. Despite the
exchange of germs and viruses causes many deaths and devastating disasters, it also helps to
strengthen and benefit some barrier agriculture societies, due to the idea of the Natural Selection.
The diffusion of disease gradually eliminates humans with weak immune systems, and build up
strong immune systems to survive from some deadly diseases such as smallpox. Even though most
of it dies, who survives will pass immunity to their offspring. On the other hand, some of the non
agriculture socialites get wiped out by the epidemic of unfamiliar disease. Crowd diseases, like
measles, can only survive in a large size of the population. Therefore, when a large community

In these days, the legislation of permanent residence has been restricted to immigrants because of

Today, the population of Australia has shown people of which one in four close to 22,400,000
came from a different linguistically diverse and cultural background. Among the total
population, immigrant rate in Australia has gradually grown since the late 1940s increased
from 1 in 10 Australians (10%) in 1947. Graeme Hugo, being served as a professor of
demography at the University of Adelaide, said that there was huge change as a remarkable
record between in 1959 and 2003. The 100,000th Australian was born in 10th of March 1959 and

Positive Effects Of Irrationality
How do you feel when you hear that you re an irrational customer? Maybe, you might feel angry
and irritated for being a irrational customer as many people think the irrationality is the worst and
most unnecessary human failure that leads only negative results forever. However, this view
toward irrationalityhas to be changed. Even though there are negative results of irrationality, there
are lots of positive effects of it. Of course, as the irrational consumption is not intended, it can make
you use more money, but, at the same time, it can increase the whole consumption over the country,
which is really necessary and important for an economic growth. Then why is increasing the whole
consumption important? It s because, in the economy, the whole consumption is almost same with

end of depression. Does this really happen? Of course! In these days, many people love to pull out

them do so even though buying the doll in the shop is more rational. This is why playing claw

A Group Of Philosophers All Get Together At A Man Named...
In Plato s Symposium, a group of philosophers all get together at a man named Agathon s house
and eventually decide to give speeches on love. The men all take turns giving their various
speeches on Love, each attacking the idea of Love in a different way. Phaedrus talks about Love s
origins and how Loveencourages people to be virtuous, Pausanias makes the distinction between
Common Love (love of body) and Celestial Love (love of mind), Eryximachus talks about how
Love promotes balance, Aristophanes talks about how Love is about people continually searching
for their other half (quite literally), but how people can never find this other half, so people will
never be whole, and finally Agathon talks about Love s beauty and Love s desire for beauty. When
Socratesspeaks, he starts off by saying that he will give the truth about Love, which he claims no
one else did. He proves this by questioning Agathon s speech, asking how Love can both be
beautiful and desire beauty when people do not desire what they already have. Furthermore,
Socrates recounts a conversation about Love with Diotima, whose view of Love combines parts
of all the other speeches into one truth about love. True love is passing on one s ideas through
celestial love in order to live forever. The clearest part of Diotima s argument about love is that
people use love to make themselves immortal. After Diotima has finished incorporating the ideas of
every speech about Love into one giant truth about love, she

Masterpiece Cakesham Case
Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission
Religion, whether we like it or not, influences many of our decisions as humans even without us
even knowing. Religion, for those who have grown up knowing it, or are believers in a religion,
have been taught to act and respond in specific ways to scenarios of all types. Whereas those
who are not affiliated religiously are influenced by decisions on matters of morality as well as
law, which has basis in religion. The case of Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights

of Masterpiece Cakeshop. As with the conservative justices, most will likely support that of
Masterpiece Cakeshop. Associate Justice Clarence Thomas, Associate Justice Samuel Alito, and the
newly appointed Associate Justice Neil Goursch would most likely choose to support the freedom
of religion and the right to refuse service, most likely quoting Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, as
they tend to stay on the conservative side of the argument. Whereas Associate Justice Ruth Bader

Americans, most likely quoting Employment Division, Department of Human Resources of Oregon

Vroom Vroom! This is the welcomed sound that automobile owners and manufacturers like to hear.
It is the sound of completion, success, and satisfaction. But what happens when this sound is
drowned out by weakened profits, customer dissatisfaction, and industry weakness? In comes the
government bailout of the automobile industry. In recent years, 2008 2010, Ford, GM, and Chrysler

In the case of Chrysler, the automobile industry is one that is very populated with different car
manufacturers. Chrysler should make sure that it has an understanding of the population that it is
targeting and the ability that people in this population have to purchase a car. Also, Chrysler
should take into account the level of economic stimulation present in that particular population.
For example, what is the unemployment rate in that particular area, what is the median income
for the population, and how prevalent is public transportation (bus, taxi, subway, etc) in this
area? * Political/Legal: The political portion of the general environment is often overlooked
because businesses and people alike think that it is enough to follow the laws and abide by
regulations set forth by the government. This is incorrect. Many automobile companies such as
Chrysler operate in foreign countries and look to export their products to foreign countries as
well. The laws and regulations in these foreign countries have to be navigated and understood just
as precisely as those in the home country. In the case of Chrysler, when it was acquired by
Daimler Benz, the company had to develop a whole new outlook on its business practices. Taxation
policies had to be revamped polices on the export, import, and manufacturer of

Side Effects Of Self-Harm Research Paper
Bleeding out. Scarred from head to toe. These are a couple of side effects of self harm inflicted by
adolescents. Some mental causes for self harm are depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. Self
harm is currently a major concern, and there have been many moves recently to combat it. Two of
the more significant treatments developed that assist adolescents with their self harming behaviors
are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) (Laye Gindhu
Schonert Reichl, 2005). Before discussing these treatment options, an understanding of what self
harmtruly means is crucial. Self harm, [is] defined here as deliberate and voluntary physical self
injury that is not life threatening and is without any conscious suicidal intent (Laye Gindhu
Schonert Reichl, 2005, p. 447). According to population studies, between 5% and 10 % of
adolescents report past year self harm (Mehlum, et al. 2016, p. 1082). Some of the more well
known forms of self harm are cutting, hitting, biting, (Laye Gindhu Schonert Reichl, 2005, p. 453)
and other non suicidal actions scarifications are among more publicly recognized type. Adolescents

The Cost Of College Education
Bernie Sanders, senator of the state of Vermont said, The cost of college education today is so
high that many young people are giving up their dream of going to college, while many others
are graduating deeply in debt ( Brainy Quote ). Each year students take out loans to pay for a
college education. Is it really necessary? They are just going to be a statistic. I believe everyone
should not go to college. College is not for everyone.
I believe everyone should not go to college. Not everyone should go to college. Most jobs do not
need a college degree to be hired. The more work experience you have the more you will earn.
Many students are forced to go to college, many just want to stay home and work. When students
go to college, they go to have a career. When students graduate from college they get a job.
Robert Reich, chancellor s professor of public policy at UC Berkeley, wrote an article about why
college isn t for everyone. Reich stated, Last year, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New
York, 46 percent of recent college graduates were in jobs that don t even require a college degree.
This means that students do not choose what to study. They study because they just want to
continue school. Getting a bachelor s degree in anything can help but most jobs or careers are
looking for work experience of any kind. College does not give you work experience.
The student debt is rising higher each year. When students do not have enough money to go pay for

The Stigma Of The Homeless
During the Great Depression, the homeless were almost glamorized as vagabonds who rode the
rails with their belongings neatly tied up in a bandana over their shoulder. Today, the homeless can
be anyone: children or women escaping an abusive relationship or those who just cannot afford to
pay for housing. While some homeless people maintain employment of some sort, long term
homelessnessis usually a function of the inverse; either severely under employed or no income

Rice, April 2014) and that between 5 25% of those have some sort of pet. While it appears that

within the homeless population. Homeless respondents also have stated that the general public
tends to treat them better or are more likely to talk to them because of their pets, with the pets

homeless person that it has been found within research that had not specifically focused on pet

Over 6,000,000 died and only 900,000 survived. The Holocaust is one of the darkest moments in
world history. Hitler was a German dictator who wanted to create a supreme race; blue eyes and
blonde hair were some of the requirements. Because the majority of Jews did not fit that
description, they were targeted. Thousands of them were sent to concentration camps to die, while
others were arrested and killed. In an attempt to save as many lives as possible, many people hid
Jewish refugees during the Holocaust. Three individuals who did this are Irena Sendler, Karolina

Military Intertextuality
One fundamental principle in discourse analysis is the concept of intertextuality. Julia Kristeva s
coinage of the term, back in 1986, represents an attempt to synthesize Ferdinand de Saussure s
semiotics with Bakhtin s (1981) dialogism and his examination of the multiple meanings, or
heteroglossia , the interrelatedness and existence of language and discourses, by which meaning is
not transferred directly from writer to reader but instead is mediated through, or filtered by codes
imparted to the writer and reader by other texts. It is beyond doubt that military communication
benefits from and even dwells on the conceptof intertextuality, given that the weight and essence of
the ideological concepts inherent in the discourseof the military largely depend on the background

discursive materializations of military communication must take into account the multitude of

Health And The Healthiness Of Their Organisations
Work stress is recognised worldwide as a major challenge to workers health and the healthiness
of their organisations (ILO 1986; 1992). Workers who are pushed are additionally more prone to
be morbid, inadequately spurred, less gainful and less protected at work. Their associations are
less inclined to be effective in a focused business sector. Stress can be realized by pressures at
home and at work. Businesses can t more often than not shield labourers from strain emerging
outside of work, yet they can shield them from the strain that emerges through work. Stress at work
can be a genuine issue to the association and in addition to its labour force. Great administration

The pressure at the work environment is unavoidable because of the requests of the

The Arts Is An Essential Element Of Education
The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading writing, and arithmetic...music
dance, painting, and theatre are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and
accomplishment (William Bennett, Former US Secretary of Education).
The reality in education has always been, when the money is tight, it s time to get rid of
something. Why, oh why does this have to be the case? The very first thing they look at is the arts.
As stated by Charles Fowler, In many schools, the status of the arts is fragile. When school systems
face budget cuts, curtailments of art and music programs are an all too common and seemingly
easy solution. Reductions often come swiftly and ruthlessly, exacting debilitating losses on faculty
and programs. Arts programs are sometimes eliminated by school administrators and boards of
education without much anguish or serious debate, as if they are dispensable and unimportant,
inconsequential and superfluous (Fowler, 1996, p. 36).
So why not integrate the arts into the curriculum? Arts integration is the investigation of curricular
content through artistic explorations. In this process, the arts provide an avenue for rigorous
investigation, representation, expression, and reflection of both curricular content and the art form
itself (Diaz, Donovan, and Pascale, 2006, p. 14). The arts are composed of poetry, music,
storytelling, drama, visual art, and creative movement or dance. With teachers immersed in 21st

The Tragedy Of Vladimir Lenin And The Rise Of Joseph Stalin
Some of the most tragic moments in Russian history occurred during the tumultuous period
between the death of Vladimir Lenin and the rise of Joseph Stalin during the 1930s. This was a
time of massive devastation during which almost 5 million peasants died of starvation due to the
failures of collective farming. Thousands of men and women were also falsely accused of anti
patriotism and sent to Siberian labor camps in which they experienced rampant disease, physical
and emotional abuse, and often execution. Vasily Grossman endeavors to discern who is to blame
for these injustices through his novel Everything Flows . Grossman s main character, Ivan, has just
been released from almost a thirty year imprisonment following the death of Stalin. Through Ivan s
recollections of camp life and assimilation into Post Stalinist Russia, Grossman reveals the forces
he believes are at fault. However, his understanding of this guilt is far more complex as revealed
through the means by which he evaluates the culpable factors. Grossman uses a method of
assessment similar to a bottom up analysis by beginning with the individual elements of the
Communist Party and progressing to a larger holistic view of Russian civilization. This method
allows for multiple factors to bear some of the blame without undue bias holding one entirely
accountable. Thus, Grossman is arguing that the slave identity embedded in Russian history was
responsible for the development of certain characteristics in Lenin s

Strategies For Resolving Team Conflict Essay
Dealing with conflict is always a challenging situation, which requires team members to be
integrated into a single, organized unit (Bolger, 2003). Conflict among teams is bound to occur no
matter how much one tries to avoid it. While resolving all conflicts is not possible, these conflicts
can be dealt with using the correct methodology. To address teamconflictthere are five methods:
Accommodate, Compromise, Enforce, Explore, and Postpone (Bolger, 2003).
Accommodation Bases for using the accommodation strategy occurs when working together to
accomplish goals are far more important than sorting out personal differences. This means that
individuals or teams decide to go along with another s point of view or decision. ... Show more

However, this objective is generally thought to be the best approach in addressing conflict since the
goal is to reach consensus (Barker, et al., 1991).
Enforce To enforce is to take what ever steps are required to back a non negotiable mind set. In
many cases this mind set occurs when an individual feels strongly about ones point of view and
takes a non compromising stance on the issue. This strategy should be used to assume a firm
position; for example when there is not enough time to conduct an ongoing discussion about a
given subject. However, in the event that this strategy is used excessively, some team members
could consider themselves losers and try to retaliate. Additionally, it is also possible that team
members could become too frustrated to voice their points of view or will no longer even try to
participate (Fisher, et al., 1991). If this strategy is under used, one may be perceived as lacking
assertiveness or be seen as being vulnerable.
Explore The Explore strategy is used when team members or other teams develop and investigate
new ideas together. This approach produces a high level of satisfaction since the group feels a
large amount of pride in ownership and accomplishment by all their needs being met (Miles
Mangold, 2002). The Explore strategy is also beneficial because solutions are discovered that had

With the business internal control out of control I would recommend to hire an accountant with
extensive internal audit situation with businesses that was in a similar state. A company executive
should be placed as project head to work with the auditor. This will help to give the auditor a clear
understanding of where the company is and the direction it wants to go. By them working together
the executive offers the business plan of what they want and the auditor offers the expertise and
experience in process to get the company there. The sooner the company hires an internal auditor
the sooner the business internal control system can be turned around.

Aqueous 6.0 Molar Nitric Acid
Unknown 8543, a blue solution, was obtained and filled a quarter of a clean test tube. Three
drops of 3.0 molar aqueous sodium chloride were added, causing a white solid to precipitate out
of the aqua solution. The test tube was centrifuged at power level one for approximately one
minute. The solution was decanted and saved for later. The solid was washed and suspended in a
few drops of deionized water and boiled for twenty minutes. The solid did not dissolve in water
after this, giving it the identity of solid silverchloride. To confirm the presence of the silver cation,
a few drops of aqueous 15.0 molar ammoniawere added, creating a blue solution that must have
been the complex ionAg(NH3)2+. Then, aqueous 6.0 molar nitric acid was added, producing a
white precipitate, silver chloride. This confirmed that the silver cation was present. To the solution
that was set aside earlier, five drops of aqueous 1.0 molar sodium sulfate was added, producing a
white precipitate from the aqua colored solution. The test tube was centrifuged for about one
minute to separate the solid from the solution, which was saved for later in a clean test tube. The

Analysis Of The Article 10 Reasons Why Homosexual...

Final Critical Analysis Paper In the Article 10 Reasons Why Homosexual Marriage is Harmful
and Must be Opposed by TFP Student Action the group lays out ten points on why it believes
homosexual marriage is not only wrong but is harmful to society. The article gives 10 reasons why
same sex marriage is wrong: it is not marriage, it violates natural law, it always denies a child
either a father or a mother, it validates and promotes the homosexual lifestyle, it turns moral wrong
into a civil rights, it does not create a family but a naturally sterile union, it defeats the state s
purpose of benefiting marriage, it imposes its acceptance on all society, it s the cutting edge of the
sexual revolution, and it offends God. These reasons may sound rational on the surface, but I am
going to point out flaws I see in these arguments. In the first argument, TFP Student Action makes
the claim that marriage has always been a covenant between one man and one woman, which is far
from true. According to The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry, In many
cultures, both ancient and modern, polygamy has been quite common, which describes the
relationship of one husband with multiple wives (CLGS). The fact that marriage has not always
been between one man and one woman obviously discredits the argument made by the Student
Action Group. Seeing as how the TFP s definition of marriage has been discredited its argument
from that

The High Window Edges Close At The Death Of Morningstar...
As The High Window edges close to the climax and conclusion, Raymond Chandler uses this stage
as a time for readers to make comparisons and assumptions between characters. With the protagonist
the most relatable Chandler presents Marlowe several intriguing similarities with other characters,
thus allowing the reader to create assumptions about his overall development throughout the novel.
However, despite coming off as a tough, quick witted detective, Marlowe unveils new unordinary
characteristics and reactions as the novel progresses through a series of events. Despite that, the
introduction of Detective Lieutenant Jesse Breeze in Chapter 10 ultimately proves to be Marlowe s
vague double with their job conclusively making them complete opposite.
Nonetheless, despite showing no sign of odd or unusual behavior throughout the first several
chapters of the novel, Chandler only after the death of Morningstar and detective Phillip begins
to display Marlowe s unnatural behaviors. As Marlowe experiences a tunnel of events, Chandler
slightly presents his awkward and odd reactions to distinctive situations deliberately. With a
pattern of character development seen by Marlowe, his pattern ultimately proves to shape his
characteristics as emotions and reactions shift from the ordinary detective persona to a more open
and real world approach. With his case expanding to police investigations along with murders
Marlowe begins to realize that his case is far from ordinary or similar to

Azacitidine are DNA Methyltransferase Inhibitors
Azacytidine or 5 AZC
Trade Name : Vidaza
Introduction:
Azacitidine are DNA Methyltransferase inhibitors. Azacitidine being an analog for cytidine gets
integrated into the DNA sequence of the DNMT gene, the gene turns dysfunctional, inhibiting the
DNA methyltransferase enzymes which normally methylate DNA.
Azacitidine is used primarily for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes or MDS a blood
disorder which affects the bone marrow leading to a low or ineffective production of blood cells.
The cancerous overgrowth of a number of immature cells or blasts and the abnormally developed
or dysplastic cells increase, thereby reducing the cell count of normal red blood cells, white blood
cells, and platelets.
Azacitidine as a chemotherapeutic drug (in low doses) prevents the body from making nucleic
acids required for cell growth of the cancerous cells. This stops the growth of cancer cells and
leads to cell death. Azacitidine also appears to help restore normal growth and differentiation (cell
specialization) in the cells of the bone marrow. This betters the bone marrow production of normal
blood cells.
Discovery:
Azacitidine was first synthesized by Piskala and Sorm in 1964 [Piskala A, Sorm F. (1964). Collect
Czech Chem. Commun., 29: 2060 2076]. It was developed as a nucleoside antimetabolite
specifically used for the treatment of acute myelogenous leukemia (Cihak, 1974;Sorm et al., 1964).
But studies later revealed that this drug inhibited cell mitosis with high

In healthcare and social care the mentor is allocated to the learner which will have different
mentors for each practice area.
The NMC definition of a mentor is a registered practitioner who facilitates learning, and supervises
and assesses students in a practice setting (NMC, 2008, p.45).
Thus, in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), every registered
practitioner has to act as a mentor trying to be a role model, to be supportive and help the students
in their learning process, the mentorship course, than, it only help s the registered practitioner to be
more aware and plan ahead how he can help the learner in a best way.
According to (Stuart, CC. 2013) one of the key mechanism that a mentor has to use through is to
assess a key factor that we also find in the NMC mentor definition (NMC, 2008, p.45).
Assessment, is important since the mentor s first meeting with the learner, as like this he can
identify the student s learning needs, his previous experience and his expectations, but the
registered practitioner has to assess the student through whole the learning process thus he can
provide feedback to the learner and help to

Dangers Of Fighting In War
The Union and Confederate were fighting a bloody war against one another. The dangers they
encounter were increased by the lack of resources. Soldiers often went days without food. They
did not have adequate clothing and footwear. When a soldier was wounded, proper medical care
was nonexistent. Military doctors and nurses worked around the clock with limited resources to
help soldiers. Fighting in war supplies the opportunity to face danger; however, who would have
imagined basic human needs would go unmet? After a long day of marching through unknown
territory, a meal was what soldierwished for. Sadly, they often did not have any food. One soldier
wrote, I am glad to hear that your crops are as good and I hope that all the folks are good because
we don t have nothing to eat here, and so I hopes you have got something to eat there (soldiers).

that yet have life and sensation make a most horrid picture (soldiers). Medical staff were not

Protestantism
Christianity was officially recognized as a religion in 380 BCE, and was one religion until 1054
CE when the Great Schism occurred, thus separating Christianity into the Eastern and Western
Orthodox sects. Then, after 463 years, in 1517 CE, Martin Luther published 95 theses that were
against the practices and beliefs followed at that time in Catholic Church. Protestantismis
characterized by belief in the supremacy of Bible and defiance of Pope as the sole authority of
Christians. In particular, he was against the practice of selling of indulgences that were done to
raise money for the construction of St. Peters Basilica. He also rejected Papal supremacy and put
forward infallibility of the Bible. The word orthodox means... Show more content on

Pope in Rome is the highest authority and Vatican is the seat of Christianity(for the Catholics).
However, papal authority is on the wane as though he is still the figurative head in the west. He
cannot advise for a change of leadership in any country even if he feels that the government in a
country is moving in a direction not desired by the Church. Further, Latin remained the language
of the Catholic Church for long. It is only after the second Ecumenical Council that Catholic
Church has started to use native language for mass services. Also, the priests are not allowed to
marry in Catholic Church. It was in 1054 AD that celibacy was forced upon all priests in
Western Church. When you consider some of the beliefs of Catholics, the Catholics believe
Mary to be one without original sin and hence appropriate to be the mother of the son of god.
Also, the Orthodox Church did not accept the Roman language of Latin and preferred using
native languages from the start. Coming to the belief on Mary, the Orthodox Church feels that
Mary was ordinary but was chosen to be the mother of Jesus as she had led a virtuous life. One
may be surprised that even the most important events in the calendar such as Christmas and Easter
are calculated in a different manner by the Orthodox and Catholics. This is because Eastern
Orthodox does not recognize the Gregorian calendar formulated by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582.
There are many meeting points and common grounds in Protestantism and Catholicism. However,
there are also clear differences between the two denominations. Protestants believe that Bible is the
only source of God s revelations to humans and Bible is the only scripture that is sufficient and
necessary for the salvation of human beings. This belief is called Sola

Sociological Imagination The Act Of Drinking Tea
Word Count:
1. By using sociological imagination, the act of drinking tea can be interpreted in more ways than
just the basic interpretation of simply ingesting a beverage. For example, the gathering of people
to meet for tea is a social outcome of the act of drinking tea. Also, the act of tea drinking can be for
the purpose of maintaining health as tea is typically a healthy beverage. Lastly, tea drinking and
producing was used in many cultures as a sort of ritual. In Asian cultures a tea ceremony was
practiced to promote harmony. Sociology applies in my life in that its research explains many of
my questions about the people in this world as well as their actions. For example, I might wonder
why someone would commit suicide or perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have to imagine the perceptions of other concerning ourselves because unless that person or
people tell us how they feel about us, we will have no way to determine their true feelings. We
imagine these perceptions in a variety of ways. For example, by interpreting nonverbal
communication we can develop an idea as how people perceive us.
7. Our self concepts are affected by the thoughts of others more greatly than we may think. How
others think of us is reflected in how they treat us. A major example of this is bullying. For
example, the bullies view the victim as weaker or lesser than themselves and as a result the victim
is left with a feeling of worthlessness or having no purpose. This changes the self concept of the
victim because now they may be closed off and quiet when perhaps before they were outspoken
and sociable.
8. The looking glass self has a crucial impact on children. This is because as they are going
through the developmental stages of self, children will be very conscious of those around them
and how those people view them. For example, if a parent is constantly yelling, even if it is not
always directed at the child, the child would most likely feel that the parent is angry with them.
This is turn will cause the child to feel like a problem; therefore, affecting their self concept making
the child feel unworthy or

With these words, Martha the main character in Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? showed her husband, George, that he was nothing. Edward Albee, the writer of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? talked mainly about Martha and George who pretend to have different identities just in order not to face reality. Moreover, Arthur Miller, the author of A View from the Bridge presented the idea of identity in a different way. Miller used the characterEddie to show how people s identities are constantly changing due to some changes in their lives. Modern playwrights question the idea of a definite identity. Therefore, Eddie told her: listen if everybody keeps his mouth shut, nothing can happen. They ll pay for their board. (Miller, 1955, p.9).Later in the story, Eddie revealed a different identity .He was blinded with passion to the point of immorality. • 4. Sand County Almanac Quotes Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land... harmony with land is like harmony with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left (Pg 189). In less than three sentences, to me this quote summarizes everything that Leopold is trying to say in his novel. Metaphorically, the quote is talking about two friends. In regards to the novel, Leopold is saying that humanity cannot take and use the lands resources without making a conscious effort to replenish them. The non fiction novel A Sand County Almanac written by Aldo Leopold characterizes the importance in loving, caring and understanding our environment, land and ecosystems that surround us. Leopold emphasizes the relevance there is for humans to be conscience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the section The Land Ethic Leopold emphasizes the need for education, perhaps the most serious obstacle impeding the evolution of a land ethic is the fact that our educational and economic system is headed away from, rather than toward, an intense consciousness of land (p. 261). If people are not aware of the seriousness that comes with land conservation, then how are they supposed to change the way they are acting? There is a necessary need for humans to be conscience and aware of land use and its importance, but there is no way for this to happen unless the youth are educated and they continue to educate for generations to come. I believe Leopold is trying to say that those who understand the land are the ones who should be spreading their education and knowledge to those who do not. Passing on this knowledge of land ethic is crucial for the fate of the environment and Earth. Leopold expresses, a system of conservation based solely on economic self interest is hopelessly lopesided, (p. 251). The self interest economists who are only interested in the profit of which they gain from the land cannot spread the importance of the respect for the community. The people who share a knowledge and passion for the environment will educate those who are unaware. As well as being educated on the land, it is essential for humanity to understand that we are not users of what Earth has to offer us, but associates, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people may manifest no symptoms; at the other end of the spectrum is Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, characterized by flashbacks, avoidance, numbing of responsiveness (including substance abuse), persistent expectation of danger, constriction (dissociation, zoning out), and memory impairment (Isserlis 2001). A number of authors urge reframing of these discourses: Instead of diagnosing and treating victims, find ways to make the learning environment safer for everyone (Horsman 1997). Recognize the role of power in limiting individual agency and choice and the ways in which institutions make personal and structural violence possible and legitimize it (Pearce 1999). Acknowledge the hidden learning that occurs through traumatic experiences (Horsman 2000b; Williamson 2000). What is learned from trauma and how might educators respond? Studies of people enduring extreme situations suggest that learning is a key to survival in adversity (Williamson 2000). Successful learning is supposed to occur when conditions are right: accessible opportunities, time, appropriate support, safety, motivation, risks with manageable consequences (ibid.). Yet in extreme situations, learning must take place quickly and without the right conditions. What is learned in response to trauma is influenced by prior knowledge, background, familial and social relationships, and personal qualities and abilities (Pearce 1999; Williamson 2000). This is not to blame the victim for inappropriate learning or responses, but to underscore the importance of resources and support and the recognition that learning has to be geared to meet a range of individual needs. Women within the Grecian culture where very much the passive sex, confined to housework and almost never educated. Sophocles drama Antigone, written around 441 BCE, is one of his three Theban plays that chronicle the dark fortunes of the house of Oedipus, king of Thebes. After Oedipus death, there is a struggle over the kingship between his two sons Eteocles and Polyneices. The army of Polyneices marches on Thebes and is defeated, but both brothers are killed in the battle. The new ruler, Creon, decrees that whereas Eteocles will be buried with full honours for defending the city, the rebel Polyneices must be denied holy rites and left to rot in the field and if anyone disobeys him they are to be punished by death. The state and patriarchy take high place within the novel as it does in many Grecian teaching places. The play was used to teach the subjects of the citadel about respect for the law and respect for society. We must therefore ask questions concerning the place of a feminine tragic hero, and the effect that it would have had. Antigone as a rebellious character raises ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Civil Rights Movement And The Civil Rights Movement The 60 s was a platform for all kinds of cultural revolution. Two of these included the Civil Rights and anti war Vietnam movements which both emerged at the same time that the Cold War unfolded. Both of these movements overlapped in numerous ways; they both struggled with the government trying to silence them to keep an image, with media distortion, not having a clear main focus, and more. They both related political struggles to domestic ones. The focus is on two things. The first being the look at the Civil Rights movement under the heat of the Cold Warand how it affected the movement. The second thing is the anti war Vietnam protests and how the Civil Rights movement partially contributed to that. It s a look at how both of these movements were ties from political struggles to domestic struggles. A look at the interactions of both these movements during their struggles. The Cold War was a time of high tensions between the Soviet Union and the United Stateswhich consequently served a purpose in the Civil Rights movement as well. The spotlight directed towards America forced the government to create a pristine image of America to maintain the idea that they were capable of being leaders. As Mary L. • 21. A Group Of Philosophers All Get Together At A Man Named... In Plato s Symposium, a group of philosophers all get together at a man named Agathon s house and eventually decide to give speeches on love. The men all take turns giving their various speeches on Love, each attacking the idea of Love in a different way. Phaedrus talks about Love s origins and how Loveencourages people to be virtuous, Pausanias makes the distinction between Common Love (love of body) and Celestial Love (love of mind), Eryximachus talks about how Love promotes balance, Aristophanes talks about how Love is about people continually searching for their other half (quite literally), but how people can never find this other half, so people will never be whole, and finally Agathon talks about Love s beauty and Love s desire for beauty. When Socratesspeaks, he starts off by saying that he will give the truth about Love, which he claims no one else did. He proves this by questioning Agathon s speech, asking how Love can both be beautiful and desire beauty when people do not desire what they already have. Furthermore, Socrates recounts a conversation about Love with Diotima, whose view of Love combines parts of all the other speeches into one truth about love. True love is passing on one s ideas through celestial love in order to live forever. The clearest part of Diotima s argument about love is that people use love to make themselves immortal. Some mental causes for self harm are depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. Self harm is currently a major concern, and there have been many moves recently to combat it. The Arts Is An Essential Element Of Education The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading writing, and arithmetic...music dance, painting, and theatre are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment (William Bennett, Former US Secretary of Education). The reality in education has always been, when the money is tight, it s time to get rid of something. Why, oh why does this have to be the case? The very first thing they look at is the arts. As stated by Charles Fowler, In many schools, the status of the arts is fragile. When school systems face budget cuts, curtailments of art and music programs are an all too common and seemingly easy solution. Reductions often come swiftly and ruthlessly, exacting debilitating losses on faculty and programs. Arts programs are sometimes eliminated by school administrators and boards of education without much anguish or serious debate, as if they are dispensable and unimportant, inconsequential and superfluous (Fowler, 1996, p. 36). So why not integrate the arts into the curriculum? Arts integration is the investigation of curricular content through artistic explorations. In this process, the arts provide an avenue for rigorous investigation, representation, expression, and reflection of both curricular content and the art form itself (Diaz, Donovan, and Pascale, 2006, p. 14). Thousands of men and women were also falsely accused of anti patriotism and sent to Siberian labor camps in which they experienced rampant disease, physical and emotional abuse, and often execution. Vasily Grossman endeavors to discern who is to blame for these injustices through his novel Everything Flows . Grossman s main character, Ivan, has just been released from almost a thirty year imprisonment following the death of Stalin. Through Ivan s recollections of camp life and assimilation into Post Stalinist Russia, Grossman reveals the forces he believes are at fault. However, his understanding of this guilt is far more complex as revealed through the means by which he evaluates the culpable factors. Grossman uses a method of assessment similar to a bottom up analysis by beginning with the individual elements of the Communist Party and progressing to a larger holistic view of Russian civilization. This method allows for multiple factors to bear some of the blame without undue bias holding one entirely accountable. However, this objective is generally thought to be the best approach in addressing conflict since the goal is to reach consensus (Barker, et al., 1991). Enforce To enforce is to take what ever steps are required to back a non negotiable mind set. In many cases this mind set occurs when an individual feels strongly about ones point of view and takes a non compromising stance on the issue. This strategy should be used to assume a firm position; for example when there is not enough time to conduct an ongoing discussion about a given subject. However, in the event that this strategy is used excessively, some team members could consider themselves losers and try to retaliate. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the business internal control out of control I would recommend to hire an accountant with extensive internal audit situation with businesses that was in a similar state. A company executive should be placed as project head to work with the auditor. This will help to give the auditor a clear understanding of where the company is and the direction it wants to go. By them working together the executive offers the business plan of what they want and the auditor offers the expertise and experience in process to get the company there. The sooner the company hires an internal auditor the sooner the business internal control system can be turned around. Bibliography COSO. (1992). Internal Control Integrated Framework. • 41. Aqueous 6.0 Molar Nitric Acid Unknown 8543, a blue solution, was obtained and filled a quarter of a clean test tube. Three drops of 3.0 molar aqueous sodium chloride were added, causing a white solid to precipitate out of the aqua solution. The test tube was centrifuged at power level one for approximately one minute. The solution was decanted and saved for later. The solid was washed and suspended in a few drops of deionized water and boiled for twenty minutes. The solid did not dissolve in water after this, giving it the identity of solid silverchloride. To confirm the presence of the silver cation, a few drops of aqueous 15.0 molar ammoniawere added, creating a blue solution that must have been the complex ionAg(NH3)2+. Then, aqueous 6.0 molar nitric acid was added, producing a white precipitate, silver chloride. This confirmed that the silver cation was present. To the solution that was set aside earlier, five drops of aqueous 1.0 molar sodium sulfate was added, producing a white precipitate from the aqua colored solution. The test tube was centrifuged for about one minute to separate the solid from the solution, which was saved for later in a clean test tube. The possible cation in the solid was... • 42. Analysis Of The Article 10 Reasons Why Homosexual... Nathan Fink PHL 123 Corrine Painter DATE Final Critical Analysis Paper In the Article 10 Reasons Why Homosexual Marriage is Harmful and Must be Opposed by TFP Student Action the group lays out ten points on why it believes homosexual marriage is not only wrong but is harmful to society. The article gives 10 reasons why same sex marriage is wrong: it is not marriage, it violates natural law, it always denies a child either a father or a mother, it validates and promotes the homosexual lifestyle, it turns moral wrong into a civil rights, it does not create a family but a naturally sterile union, it defeats the state s purpose of benefiting marriage, it imposes its acceptance on all society, it s the cutting edge of the sexual revolution, and it offends God. These reasons may sound rational on the surface, but I am going to point out flaws I see in these arguments. In the first argument, TFP Student Action makes the claim that marriage has always been a covenant between one man and one woman, which is far from true. According to The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry, In many cultures, both ancient and modern, polygamy has been quite common, which describes the relationship of one husband with multiple wives (CLGS). The fact that marriage has not always been between one man and one woman obviously discredits the argument made by the Student Action Group. Seeing as how the TFP s definition of marriage has been discredited its argument from that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The High Window Edges Close At The Death Of Morningstar... As The High Window edges close to the climax and conclusion, Raymond Chandler uses this stage as a time for readers to make comparisons and assumptions between characters. With the protagonist the most relatable Chandler presents Marlowe several intriguing similarities with other characters, thus allowing the reader to create assumptions about his overall development throughout the novel. However, despite coming off as a tough, quick witted detective, Marlowe unveils new unordinary characteristics and reactions as the novel progresses through a series of events. Despite that, the introduction of Detective Lieutenant Jesse Breeze in Chapter 10 ultimately proves to be Marlowe s vague double with their job conclusively making them complete opposite. Nonetheless, despite showing no sign of odd or unusual behavior throughout the first several chapters of the novel, Chandler only after the death of Morningstar and detective Phillip begins to display Marlowe s unnatural behaviors. As Marlowe experiences a tunnel of events, Chandler slightly presents his awkward and odd reactions to distinctive situations deliberately. With a pattern of character development seen by Marlowe, his pattern ultimately proves to shape his characteristics as emotions and reactions shift from the ordinary detective persona to a more open and real world approach. With his case expanding to police investigations along with murders Marlowe begins to realize that his case is far from ordinary or similar to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Azacitidine are DNA Methyltransferase Inhibitors Azacytidine or 5 AZC Trade Name : Vidaza Introduction: Azacitidine are DNA Methyltransferase inhibitors. Azacitidine being an analog for cytidine gets integrated into the DNA sequence of the DNMT gene, the gene turns dysfunctional, inhibiting the DNA methyltransferase enzymes which normally methylate DNA. Azacitidine is used primarily for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes or MDS a blood disorder which affects the bone marrow leading to a low or ineffective production of blood cells. The cancerous overgrowth of a number of immature cells or blasts and the abnormally developed or dysplastic cells increase, thereby reducing the cell count of normal red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Azacitidine as a chemotherapeutic drug (in low doses) prevents the body from making nucleic acids required for cell growth of the cancerous cells. This stops the growth of cancer cells and leads to cell death. Azacitidine also appears to help restore normal growth and differentiation (cell specialization) in the cells of the bone marrow. This betters the bone marrow production of normal blood cells. Discovery: Azacitidine was first synthesized by Piskala and Sorm in 1964 [Piskala A, Sorm F. (1964). Collect Czech Chem. Commun., 29: 2060 2076]. It was developed as a nucleoside antimetabolite specifically used for the treatment of acute myelogenous leukemia (Cihak, 1974;Sorm et al., 1964). But studies later revealed that this drug inhibited cell mitosis with high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soldiers often went days without food. They did not have adequate clothing and footwear. When a soldier was wounded, proper medical care was nonexistent. Protestantism Christianity was officially recognized as a religion in 380 BCE, and was one religion until 1054 CE when the Great Schism occurred, thus separating Christianity into the Eastern and Western Orthodox sects. Protestantismis characterized by belief in the supremacy of Bible and defiance of Pope as the sole authority of Christians. Pope in Rome is the highest authority and Vatican is the seat of Christianity(for the Catholics). However, papal authority is on the wane as though he is still the figurative head in the west. He cannot advise for a change of leadership in any country even if he feels that the government in a country is moving in a direction not desired by the Church. Further, Latin remained the language of the Catholic Church for long. It is only after the second Ecumenical Council that Catholic Church has started to use native language for mass services. Also, the priests are not allowed to marry in Catholic Church. It was in 1054 AD that celibacy was forced upon all priests in Western Church. When you consider some of the beliefs of Catholics, the Catholics believe Mary to be one without original sin and hence appropriate to be the mother of the son of god. Also, the Orthodox Church did not accept the Roman language of Latin and preferred using native languages from the start. Coming to the belief on Mary, the Orthodox Church feels that Mary was ordinary but was chosen to be the mother of Jesus as she had led a virtuous life. One may be surprised that even the most important events in the calendar such as Christmas and Easter are calculated in a different manner by the Orthodox and Catholics. This is because Eastern Orthodox does not recognize the Gregorian calendar formulated by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. There are many meeting points and common grounds in Protestantism and Catholicism. However, there are also clear differences between the two denominations. Protestants believe that Bible is the only source of God s revelations to humans and Bible is the only scripture that is sufficient and necessary for the salvation of human beings. By using sociological imagination, the act of drinking tea can be interpreted in more ways than just the basic interpretation of simply ingesting a beverage. Also, the act of tea drinking can be for the purpose of maintaining health as tea is typically a healthy beverage. Lastly, tea drinking and producing was used in many cultures as a sort of ritual. We have to imagine the perceptions of other concerning ourselves because unless that person or people tell us how they feel about us, we will have no way to determine their true feelings. We imagine these perceptions in a variety of ways. For example, by interpreting nonverbal communication we can develop an idea as how people perceive us. 7. Our self concepts are affected by the thoughts of others more greatly than we may think. How others think of us is reflected in how they treat us. A major example of this is bullying. For example, the bullies view the victim as weaker or lesser than themselves and as a result the victim is left with a feeling of worthlessness or having no purpose. This changes the self concept of the victim because now they may be closed off and quiet when perhaps before they were outspoken and sociable. 8. The looking glass self has a crucial impact on children. This is because as they are going through the developmental stages of self, children will be very conscious of those around them and how those people view them. For example, if a parent is constantly yelling, even if it is not always directed at the child, the child would most likely feel that the parent is angry with them. This is turn will cause the child to feel like a problem; therefore, affecting their self concept making the child feel unworthy or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
