The Importance Of Media In The Media
Media is everywhere around the world, it surrounds us even when sometimes we don t even notice it.
It can appear from newspapers to news, or as well physically and throughout electronic devices such
as cell phones. We consider it as a tool to make time fly ahead or to spectate what is going on with
other people s lives. However, we may encounter certain factors that may not appeal to us. We may
see postings or news about tragic events that happen around the world and surprisingly, sometimes we
don t even bother to care, due to the fact that it wasn t us in that situation. There are a great number of
aspects to be resolved for this world to be free from issues, but a question that comes to mind is, What
if it never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example that can relate to this song is when 9/11 happened, due to terrorists. An unexpected tragic
event that no one thought would happen that took many lives from loved ones to close ones. In
addition, Billie Joe Armstrong s pathos has an outstanding true meaning based from the lyrics, A new
day dawning, comes without warning... . One can interpret based on this factor that every day is a new
opportunity for something tragic to happen. This here is the message that Billie Joe Armstrong is
trying to convey to us all. He wants us to realize that all though we live happy at times, there is always
something dark waiting to approach at any time with unpredictable outcome. A second example based
on this observation can be the terror attack that happened recently on Friday when a bombing occurred
in a London train underground that injured 30 passengers on board. And furthermore, a second man
was arrested a couple days later due to the fact that he too was also affiliated with the incident as well
according to officers. In addition to the topic, Billie Joe Armstrong states about love and peace and
how it s impossible for such thing like that to occur, What good is love and peace on earth? When it s
exclusive? , as if he were trying to say that it would have to take a miracle for the world to resolve
from this. Many people have experienced moments when others are made fun of or times when people
fight for various reasons such as an argument.

The Rocky Mountains Lander s Peak
Describe: Albert Bierstadt s The Rocky Mountains, Lander s Peak (1863) and David P. Bradley s,
Indian Country Today (1997) are created by different authors, possible for different reasons, but they
have a similar subject matter. They both picture nature. Bierstadt s painting shows the landscape of the
Rocky Mountains, hence the name. Pictured are rolling valleys, rugged mountains, and what looks
like a civilization of Native Americans. On the other hand, Bradley s painting is an example of how
modern India is viewed through his eyes. Instead of beautiful hills and mountains, he illustrates roads,
food trucks, vehicles, etc. Also, in the background what seems to be airplanes are pictured, as well as,
construction. The paintings have their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bierstadt uses gradient features of color in his painting. He has lighter colors in the back of his
painting and darker colors in the front. This allows the painting to be subtle and aid viewers in
realizing the subject matter. Bradley, unlike Bierstadt, uses variety in his work of art. His painting is
made up of high intensity. He uses vivid colors and even shapes to express the subject matter. The
different colors used catches the eyes of those who view it. The artists chose excellent colors to go
with their paintings. Interpret: Bierstadt s painting shows the Rocky Mountains in the 1800 s. The
beautiful scenery expresses how stunning the world was during that time. There were waterfalls, tee
pees, and sprouting trees. The Earth has been bruised and beaten. The scenery illustrated in this
painting is rare. However, Bradley s painting seems to show what landscapes are like presently even if
it was created in the late 1900 s. The construction, the entertainment by the dancers express that
Bradley believes that India is more of a tourist spot now. It is not appreciated for its beauty anymore.
People come to watch the traditional dances, not participate. They come and go, they do not usually
settle. But he does show a person shooting an arrow at the billboard that says, Land Development . So,
this shows that maybe some people want the authenticity of India back, maybe even the

The People s Insurance Company Of Canada
Name : Dolphine Bisase
Id : 213349311
Assignment: Midterm Assignment, Management 3990
While the intention was that the People s Insurance Company of Canada (PICC) would have an
organic organizational structure, this intention was at least partially offset by the close integration of
the Insurance company with the parent People s Bank. The result was an entity in which the
superficially organic, generally non hierarchical Insurance organization has been overridden by the
highly hierarchical and mechanistic bank organization. The PICC s actual structure has both
mechanistic and organic aspects. With regard to work specialization, it is generally narrow and
mechanistic with the VP for HR, Mary Thorne, fighting an ongoing battle with the Bank on the
grounds that PICC needed staff with specialized skills in the insurance industry. With respect to chain
of command, while the structure of PICC was intended to be open, non hierarchical and organic, it is
clear that it is generally mechanistic in its most important aspects. For example, while there may be an
open office environment in general, the senior team members have private offices. Similarly, while the
the emphasis of PICC is towards self managing teams, many approvals such as new purchases had to
be signed off by multiple layers of the bank s management. Thus, the chain of command is very rigid
in terms of its senior decision makers. In terms of centralization of decision making, it appears that

Thrips
Thrips are members of the order Thysanoptera and have a slender body morphology with fringed
wings. Similar to whiteflies, there are about 5,000 species of thrips, but 10 are known to vector plant
viruses (Hull, 2002c). Like aphids, their polyphagous nature and ability to reproduce quickly and
parthenogenically are contributing factors to their effectiveness as virus vectors. Thrips tabaci , for
example is capable of feeding on 140 different plants species and produce several generations within a
year (Hull, 2002c). Thrips are known for vectoring tospoviruses which have a persistent propagative
relationship, where the only the first instar larvae can acquire the virus, the larval instars are wingless
and not very active, so these are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Salivation in piercing sucking insects is considered important in the dispersal of plant viruses (Bragard
et al., 2013). Alternatively, chewing beetles regurgitate during feeding which then covers their
mouthparts with plant sap, but counter intuitively does not allow for a purely mechanical transmission
of viruses. There is still specificity due to RNase activity and retention involved with beetle
transmission. While it may seem that there are not many known beetle vectors of plant viruses, due to
the size and diversity of the Coleoptera order, it is believe there are many that remain to be discovered
(Hull, 2002c).
Plant viruses can have many negative impacts on agricultural crops that often is difficult to quantify
into an estimated economic loss due to the inconspicuous nature of viruses. Damage imposed by
viruses can include a reduction in plant growth directly reducing yield or a reduction in vigor which
can leave a plant more susceptible to other environmental or pest related damage (Hull, 2002b). In
addition, viral symptoms can reduce the quality and marketability of the crop which can either be in
its appearance, composition, ability to keep, or be used as propagation material. Other mentionable
impacts are the costs associated with maintaining crop health due to viruses such as vector control,
cultural hygiene, producing and purchasing virus free material, quarantine programs, breeding
programs, and funding research programs (Hull, 2002b).

The Era Of Discrimination By Jane Austen
The Era Of Discrimination Feminism can be defined by three major components: social, political and
economic equality of the sexes. Throughout history, women have battled to gain equality with men.
Elizabeth Bennet and other women have been suppressed from opportunities merely because of their
gender and have fought to be considered as equals to men. Women are far more than someone s wife
or daughter, they are more than just their counterparts, they are human beings. From a morality
standpoint, Elizabeth and other women should not be married off based on the need of survival but for
the need of wanting to be married for true love. Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, displays
feminism through the aspects of women s dependence on men, class snobbery, and alienation.
In the 1800s, women s sole purpose in life was to find a suitable husband, women had no other choice
but to depend on a man for certain needs and wants. Most feminist studies have represented Austen as
a conscious or unconscious subversive voicing a woman s frustration at the rigid and sexist social
order which enforces women s subservience and dependence. (Morrison, 337). The protagonist in the
novel, Elizabeth Bennet defies the social norms of the 1800s by not wanting to marry solely for
economic gain. For example, Elizabeth is impoverished and needs to marry a man with good wealth
but she realises that with being in a loveless marriage comes with unhappiness. The daughters of the
Bennet family had

The annual Peace Memorial Meetings aren t a fixation with the bomb, but a commemoration of the
lives lost. Moreover, the meetings promote an ambience of community and shared fate. The
inhabitants of Hiroshima focus on a collective future not a destructive past. The medical care law is
also not a fixation with the bomb. The law is an example of the inhabitants attempting to reclaim their
home from the invader by focusing on the aftermath not the moment. In addition, the law places an
emphasis on the future; the health and longevity of the hibakusha. Understandably, the political and
civil method of resolution is the most arduous. The inhabitants of Hiroshima can t effectively provide
their own medical services, build their own shrines, or restore their water supplies. It s foolish to
expect them to; the inhabitants are traumatized, feeble, and suffering from radiation poisoning. Thus,

Grizzly Bear Recovery Case Study
Chris Servheen, the Grizzly Bear Recovery Coordinator for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, has said
that the grizzly bears have met every criteria set forth towards their recovery plan. Since meeting these
criteria, it may be time to have them removed from the Endangered Species List (delisted). Delisting
means that the bears won t be protected by the Endangered Species Act (ESA). As it can be seen from
the grizzly delisting public comments that I agreed with, I am against having the grizzlies delisted.
I believe that the current population is too small, even though it has recovered a good amount from the
recovery plan. Also, I believe that the population is too isolated to ensure long term survival. Based on
expert opinion, the current population is about ¼ of what is needed in ... Show more content on

More importantly, the long term health of the grizzlies can be assured by maintaining a population
number of a several thousand. This include expanding their potential living area and connecting the
grizzly bear ecosystems to source populations in Canada. In addition to this, delisting relies on the
importation of bears to address genetic problems. It requires the importation of two bears every ten
years into the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to address genetic problem. Importing these bears into
the ecosystem is not likely to provide necessary gene flow due to the low success of transplants in
habitat that is already occupied. Also, the delisting plans does not seem to consider the degree and the
pace of habitat change occurring in the region. For example, there is a current loss for whitebark pine
(an important food source for the grizzlies) due to mountain pine beetles, blister rust, and global

Essay on Surrogate Motherhood
Surrogate Motherhood is something that not many people actually support, even though it is one of the
many reproductive techniques that have enabled infertile couples to have children (qtd. in Freedman).
There are two types of surrogacy, traditional and gestational. The traditional type of surrogacy
involves the surrogate mother being (AI) artificially inseminated with the sperm of the intended father
or sperm from a donor when the sperm count is low. In either case the surrogate s own egg will be
used. Genetically the surrogate becomes the mother of the resulting child (Storey). Although there are
two different types of surrogacy, a traditional surrogacy is rarely seen or done anymore. In gestational
surrogacy, the surrogate mother has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the fertilization process, the surrogate mother should know her legal rights; And prior to
signing a contract, a legal advisor and/or lawyer is necessary to make sure that the rights of the
surrogate mother will not be neglected by the couple involved (Pitts 1). In order to avoid disputes,
most infertility clinics require a contract. Legal counsel is recommended in order that all involved, to
ensure that local laws are kept in compliance (Storey). There are already a significant amount of states
that already demand contracts amongst both parties. Signing that contract gives the biological parents
legal rights and custody to that child from the moment that it is born:
Some states require a contract among all parties to the surrogacy birthing arrangement, and there are
often requirements that the contract address certain issues. However, good practice requires that a host
of additional issues be addressed in a contract in order to forge a true meeting of the minds on what is
undoubtedly one of the most personal and complicated of concerted human actions... (Johnson 5.)
The carrier, and the biological parents have to come to an understanding that the carrier must be aware
that once the child is born they no longer have any type of custody of that child. The carrier must
understand and agree that after giving birth to the child, the have absolutely no relationship/contact
with the child. The

Plavix Case Study Essay
Patent Games: Plavix Case Study
Columbia Southern University
Abstract
This case study illustrates the conflict between patent protection and preserving a pure competitive
market. Pharmaceutical companies are granted patent rights to newly developed drugs for a limited
amount of time. Through legal means they are able to form monopolies and maximize their profits. a
parent company can move to delay the release of its generic comparison through legal and illegal
measures. In the following case Bristol Myers Squibb fell victim to their own anti competitive
practices.

Sherman s strategy
Bristol Myers Squibb s deceptive practices were likely to catch up to them. This occurred when they
crossed paths with Sherman who led Apotex at the time. After everything settled Sherman
acknowledged in an interview that he knew the FTC would reject the proposed agreements made by
Bristol Myers Squibb and Sanofi. He also recognized that their spokesman didn t realize his offer
would cause adverse action against Bristol Myers Squibb (Baron, 2010). He played to their ignorance
and entered the agreement. There is no direct answer to the ethics of Sherman s strategy. He did not
actively participate or even condone Brisol Myers Squibb s collusion; in fact he knew the agreement
would be rejected. There is no way of truly knowing whether Sherman acted with malice when
implementing his strategy.
Should the FTC and the state attorneys general have rejected the agreements? The FTC and state
attorney was right in rejecting Brisol Myers Squibb s proposed agreements on the grounds that it is an
anti competitive practice. The second agreement would have been rejected as well provided Bristol
Myers Squibb was completely honest with the FTC. Upon submission of the second agreement to the
department of justice they affirmed under oath that all agreements were as listed on the document with
no side arrangements (Chen, 2011). After the initiation of an investigation conducted by the Federal
Bureau of Investigations

I always assumed reading only meant picking up a book and reading the words on the page in order to
comprehend a certain concept, but I have come to learn that there are so many other types of reading
in the world, ones that many people do not even realize. I argue that it is extremely imperative in life
to be close to family members and dearest friends, so that in the most awkward, sad, excited, and
nervous of times, one can know exactly how the other one feels by their appearance and tone of voice.
I for one never noticed the most important type of reading one can learn to do, which is reading facial

I argue that going through life not being capable of reading facial expressions and tones of voices is
like going through life without any emotional connection to anyone because being able to do so
creates the bond that holds family and friends together. Not only is it easier on me to be able to read
my family members, but it is also easier on them, so that even at the hardest times, they are able to
save themselves from speaking words that may be impossible to get out. Not only is this in the saddest
moments in life, but also in the most exciting, uncomfortable, and endearing moments that it is
essential to be able to read other people and determine what they want to say. Overall, I argue that it is
more imperative to be close to family members and dearest friends, and to learn the capability of
reading their tones of voices and facial expressions no matter what the circumstance than to have a

Oppression In The Book Of Negroes
Women Surpassing Oppression in The Book of Negroes. Women have progressed considerably in
terms of education and schooling over the past few decades. (Turcotte). When women are given the
opportunity they are capable of surpassing women stereotypes. In The Book of Negroes, Lawrence
Hill uses characterization to show when women are properly educated they can persevere through
oppression. Women have the strength and patience to overcome and when given the proper education
they are able to surpass any obstacle. Throughout the novel Aminata Diallo is given opportunities to
persevere through oppression. Firstly, when Aminata is bought by Solomon Lindo, they use her to
help with things around the house, but once they realize all the things that she is capable of doing they
begin to respect and pay her for other work she does for Lindo. Her knowledge allows her to gain
respect from higher people and actually get paid for the work she does. Second, Aminata is
determined to learn multiple languages and once people begin to understand that she know more than
one language they are surprised and treat her differntly; they treat her with more respect because they
are surprised a women of colour is capable of doing that. Lastly, Aminata is given the large task of
writing the The Book of Negroes and is given everything she needs for her ability to do the work. She
is highly relied on by higher and richer men. As the story progresses it is shown how when Aminata

Middle School Life Narrative
My personal life story from the day I left middle school My life experience in middle school was an
astonishing year. I went to a school called Step Charter in Houston Texas, which was full with
outstanding teachers and students. I was a very well behaved student, who had mostly A s and B s.
Most people can say time can go by so fast, well it did for me. It was the last day of school for us
eighth graders, who were moving on to high school. We had just finished our graduation ceremony
and I was saying goodbye to all of my marvelous friends, who I would miss forever.
Last summer break, I had so many plans like going to the movies or even going out with some of my
friends. All of a sudden, my parents told me some information about the family ... Show more content

My mom and I had went to the school so we could see what it was like. When we entered the building,
I was in disbelief of what amazing things I had seen. Then, all of a sudden I saw many of my old

During the orientation, I was able to sign up for some pleasant clubs that I would do when I started
school.
After the orientation was over I got ready for the school year. Then two weeks later, my first day of
high school had finally began. I was able to make plenty of new friends. I also had some nice classes
like my speech and debate class. In this class we would go to other schools to compete against each
other to see which one of us would be a more advanced debater. One of the best parts was breakfast

The Negative Aspects Of School Integration
Throughout history school integration has been somewhat of a war, but why? Although school
integration should be something that is praised because of what it has done for children in the past,
many people and administrators do all in their power to prevent school integration. We claim as a
society that all children should have the same opportunities, but in many cases that is not an option
without school integration. In order to grow as a rising society, it is important for people to set aside
what their negative beliefs about school integration are if it means a better future for children who
otherwise would not have the chance to thrive as they should. B. The Problem We All Live With Part
One: A Sociological Analysis:
In part one of The Problem We All Live With, we are introduced to many incredible, unforgettable
facts about the American school district, facts that are very often overlooked in today s society. Nikole
Hannah Jones speaks out about her years reporting on the american education system and the different
problems she encountered while doing so. Nikole states that administrators have tried to close the
enormous achievement gap between 1971 and 1988 between primarily black and white students that
was about forty points. Because most underachieving school districts were mostly black and latino,
these problems were often dismissed. School districts were not doing much to help the fact that
children in segregated schools, more often than not, had the least experienced teachers, which was a
large part of the problem(Cole, 1978: 183). The Normandy school district in Missouri became
unaccredited because of how poor the quality of the education was. Because Normandy became an
unaccredited school, the transfer law came into effect. The transfer law is a law that gave students in
unaccredited school districts the right to transfer to a nearby accredited schools for free
(Stephanopoulos, 2016: 403). The transfer law gave students of Normandy the right to transfer to
Francis Howell, an accredited school on the other other side of town. Parents of Francis Howell were
not happy with the Normandy students transferring because they were convinced that this would lower
the quality of the Francis Howell

Child Observation On Human Development
Introduction
For this observation project we were supposed to watch two different groups of people whose ages
range from two to twenty. So we could apply our knowledge of human growth and development to
test the effectiveness of current theories and research on development. For my observations I watched
two different groups, group A were ages three to four and group B were ages eighteen to twenty.
Group A, I observed on a warm, bright sunny Monday afternoon. I watched the children as they
played on the playground behind the Lions Club Child Study Center on campus. On this day, I
watched a group of 4 children, which included three girls and one boy as they played. One of the little
girls in the group had long blonde hair and was wearing a pink ... Show more content on

All the females in the group appeared to have strong memory skills. The children were able to follow
complex direction. The only male in the group seemed to struggle with memory. After, a while of play
the male became more interested in a bug in the sand. This behavior reinforces Flavell, when he said
that children s attention is more like a flash of light that focus on what it wants (Woolfolk Perry, 2015,
p. 230). After, examining the bug for a while he began to play as superman. Playing pretend helps
children develop better social skills, self control, and they understand the perspective of others
(Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 242). While observing group B they performed the task of sitting around,
talking, and laughing very well. The females in the groups appeared to have strong memory skills.
They could follow complex directions. On the other hand, the males in the group seemed to have a
problem with memory skills. While watching Group B, the male with the pink T shirt started doing
push up and shortly after the male with the black shirt started to do them too. The two males within
the group seems to be struggling with imaginary audience. Imaginary Audience is the feeling that
everyone is watching (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 513). This was probably caused by the excusive use of
the internet. In a study done by Moreno, it was found that adolescents of color used the internet

Compare And Contrast The Stereotypes Of Gamers
A gamer is someone who plays video games as a hobby. Gamers are usually quite good at this hobby.
Gaming has been around since 1958. It s ancient. Few people in the United States have gone
untouched by video games at some point in their lives. In fact, it is estimated that the number of
gamers around the world is about 1.2 billion people. That is a good portion of Earth s 7.2 billion
population. Gaming is huge. Despite that, there are quite a few stereotypes regarding gamers. Some
people seem to think that gamers are all a bunch of nerdy losers who do nothing but sit around and
waste their lives behind a monitor and with a controller in their hands. No matter how many gamers
are not like this, there will always be at least one individual who will fit this stereotype perfectly. But,
this paper will bring to light some things that are more typically true of most gamers, regardless of
what other stereotypes they may happen to fit. Believe it or not, video games can actually be ... Show

For example, the act of playing a video game gives the brain a break from day to day life and helps the
brain cool down by focusing on other, less stressful things. While video games do have the tendency
to be violent and fast paced, there are plenty of games that are meant to be a relaxing experience. For
example, flash games like Flow are accessible to anyone on the Internet. Flow is a game where the
player starts off as a tiny organism consisting of only a mouth and a torso. The calm, tranquil music of
the game ease the mind into a state of relaxation as the gamer play and develop into a higher
functioning organism in the game. Other flash games are good for people whose brains won t sit still
and who have trouble concentrating. So one can argue that gamers are highly adapted at finding ways
to relax and hone their focus. Though relaxing games do a great job at calming the mind, ironically,
violent games can calm the mind, as the following paragraph will

The Future Of Zoos During The World Of Activists Attacks
The Future of Zoos In the Midst of Activists Attacks
In an increasingly threatening environmental crisis, zoos are participating in the conservation of
species. The biodiversity of the animal and plant worlds is being deeply affected, on the one hand by
the disruption of ecosystems caused mainly by climate change and deforestation, and on the other
hand, by the globalization of trade, travel, transport, and tourism. These two factors are increasingly
reducing animals habitats and endangering many species (Keulartz 336). Even in the face of the
environmental serial destruction, animal protectionist and wildlife conservationist activists criticize

The Doctor Chris Parsons, former Director of the Society for Conservation Biology, explains animal
welfare groups accept the use of animals for some human interests like clothing, food, recreational
need, or scientific experiments, as long as the animal is free of stress and pain . The influential groups,
the Humane Society and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, recognize on
their website some zoos are beneficial to animals supporting conservation programs, participating in
the preservation and restoration of endangered species, and promoting education about the importance
of wildlife. However, this statement holds under certain conditions. First, the Humane Society
recommends zoos to be organized around a core mission that educates the public about the needs of
the animals and the threats they face . Also, zoos should provide animals with humane care and
adapted to their physical, social and psychological needs. Finally, ASPCA indicates, zoos should
participate in tightly controlled breeding programs and their display should stress the themes of
endangered species, wild habitat destruction and reduced biodiversity . Unfortunately, many zoos are
not falling under this description, but they can act on several factors in the intent to work towards the
animal welfare activists demands.

Gingival Stereotypes In Syria
There are several differences among the male and female populations of Syria. In Syria, the average
height of males is five feet, eight inches and females are generally five feet, one and a half inches (
Average , 2016). Syrians are stereotyped as having olive toned skin, black eyes, and black hair, but in
fact, many have very light skin, brown or blonde hair, and blue or green eyes (Das, 2017). A native
group, the Kurds, have light skin, green eyes, and blonde hair (Das, 2017). A majority of this
population have almond shaped eyes. Gingival biotypes may affect dental treatment success. Females
have thin gingival biotypes with triangular shaped teeth and males have thick biotypes with square
teeth (Barakat Dayoub, 2016, p. 141 ). The people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Adversity Research Paper
When facing catastrophe or hardship, people are often challenged to think outside of their comfort
zones and sometimes these challenges bring to light something that a person would never have
thought possible. I agree with Horace s quote about adversity and how it can be for the better. I believe
that most troubling situations can be resolved with ingenious thoughts. Notwithstanding my
agreement, I also recognized sometimes adversity can be the downfall of a person in a troubling
situation. However, occasionally these vicissitudes can turn out to be an integral part of something
much more important than them. My view on how to be successful in life is to take initiative, set
goals, and plan to make prosperous things happen in your life. Yet, this planning does not assure that
your future path will be free of pot holes, road blocks, or detours along the way. Having adversities in
your life can make you a versatile person. You can develop dexterity by having to use resources and
abilities you never deemed relevant or possible. The unanticipated ... Show more content on

What this quote means to me is that when adversity happens in life, it can cause people to want to
make changes to help the situation; therefore, they must be creative to overcome their struggle. I can
allude to Ella Minnow Pea where Ella s father, Amos, created a new pangram to replace Nevin Nollop
s old phrase. He was being banished off the island and needed a solution so that he would not be sent
away from his family. His necessity of wanting to stay with his family and for that this rule to be gone
caused him to invent the new pangram that would end up getting the rule removed, saving the
townspeople from further punishment. This has just been one fictional example of necessity causing
invention due of adversity, but there have been many more real life historical and modern day

Wild Horse Social Structure
Social structure: In the wild the size of a horse herd will vary, but it usually has a lead mare who looks
after the other females and foals in the herd. There are usually one or two stallions in the herd that
protect the entire herd. In captivity or on a farm a horse will still look after the other horses that are
present. They all have each other s backs when it comes to being lonely or protecting one another. The
horse is usaually a very social animal, so it is a good idea to have more than one horse on a farm or in
the same exhibit. Reproduction: A mare will be old enough to reproduce at 18 months old ( or a year
and a half ). This usually occurs during the breeding season, which stretches from around the
beginning of spring until close ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you first meet a horse never approach it head on, The horse sees it as a threat and won t let you
come anywhere near it. The horse can spook and run you over. To keep on the horse s good side
approach it from the side. That way, if it does spook the horse has an escape route that does not
include running over you. Also, when you approach a horse stay calm and use good body language.
This means do not come running up to the horse or use fast and jerky movements. This will scare the
horse. It can sense the negativity or fear that you feel. That makes the horse react badly or negatively
towards you. If that happens, it will take longer for the horse to trust you. Temperament: Every animal
has the normal predictable traits and behaviors of its species. However, just like people, horses have
individual personalities. They should be treated based on how they act as individuals. This will help
build a strong relationship between horse and handler. Vision: Horses see the world in an entirely
different light, literally. Horses have issues seeing colors. Their vision can be compared to a person
with red green colorblindness but only with the variations in the gray region. This is because the horse
s eyes and a person s eyes are not made the exact same way. The internal workings of the eye are what
makes the horse basically color blind, but allows us to see the colorful world we live in. Noise: Horses
have an acute sense of hearing. Compared to horses, people are practically deaf. Horses can hear much
higher and lower frequencies than people can. This is why it is better to talk to them in a confident
tone and not to use a shrill or high pitched tone. It bothers them. This is also the reason why it is
soothing to talk to a horse in a soft, calm tone when the horse is agitated. Restraint

The Body By Steven King Analysis
How does a child receive the necessary parental guidance growing up if their parents and all other
adults in their life are abusive, neglectful, and at best uninvolved? Throughout Steven King s novella
The Body it becomes evident that children will try to find guidance in almost anything. But, as King
demonstrates in his novella, the most common source of guidance comes from a child s friends. All
four boys, Gordie, Teddy, Vern, and Chris replace the rolls of their parents by comforting, protecting,
and counselling each other through tough times. First, the boys replace the guidance rolls of their
parents by comforting each other. This can be scene multiple times throughout the novella and
probably produces some of the most dramatic scenes in the Novella. The boys comfort each other in
multiple ways with the most common way of comfort being through words. At the dump, when Milo
and Teddy have the whole name calling incident, Teddy is cut deep emotionally by Milo s rude
comments about his father. This is where King implements the first dose of parental comfort from a
friend into the story. Walking along the tracks after leaving the dump, Teddy breaks down and begins
to sob, this is when Chris steps in to comfort Teddy. Chris comforts Teddy by telling him, Lissen,
Teddy, what do you care what a fat old pile of shit like him said about your father? Huh? I mean,
sincerely! That don t change nothing, does it? What a fat old pile of shit like him says? Huh? Huh?

The Importance Of English As An Official Language
Most people assume that english is the official language of the United States, however this is not the
case, as there is no official language in the states. Since the origins of the country, english has
consistently been spoken across the land, however it has never been established as the official
language. America is a melting pot of cultures and the same can be said for it s languages. Citizens in
America speak an array of languages including Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Gujrati, Urdu and
hundreds more. However, with the amount of languages spoken in America, an official language is the
glue needed to connect citizens The increase in languages spoken in America, is directly proportional
to the increase in Immigration. America has been built on the back of these immigrants, but because
they come from different backgrounds they need to define what it means to be American. Establishing
english as the official language gives all citizens common ground, developing english into not only a
language, but an important aspect of being, American. Several states have already established english
as their official language, and they have seen an increased involvement of their immigrants in not only
their societies, but their economies. Establishing english as the official language across the United
States reaps several financial and social benefits, and is a required step in achieving unity.
Making english the USA s official language will increase immigrant s opportunities in the

World War I Was The First Major War
World War I was the first major war where technology was relied on more than the troops themselves.
After what was called the Second Industrial Revolution most major countries started to create new
technologies that in the end would pave the way for World War I. These technologies ranged from the
most used everyday things all the way up to specific types of weaponry to be used in specific
scenarios along the trenches. Most of these technologies of war, developed from common civilian or
household items, these could only result in better use in war. These machines of war are so vast and
expansive in type, but they are all technologies that would have needed to have been used to bring the
war to a close. Not only were machines a large part but so was Scientific technologies, and
innovations that saved or took the lives of many. In many European countries two major types of
transportation reigned over the newer types, these being ships and trains. Both were used extensively
and the usage of them would carry into World War I, changing tactics armies took and the speed of
their movement as well as their survival. Ships were used mainly for larger distances ( ie: America to
Europe ) where Trains were only able to carry smaller things along the front or from certain Capitals
to the front itself. The usage of the trains allowed for the movement of shells that were continually
made in factories on the home front, the shells could be run along from the Factories to the shelling

Raoul Of Cambrai And Christianity Essay
Raoul of Cambrai and Christianity Raoul of Cambrai, an old French epic, has strong ties to
Christianity despite only having several actual figures from the Church present in the story. Characters
consistently use phrases such as By God , I pray , for my faith , and numerous references to saints and
their relics in the epic linking their beliefs to Christianity. Lady Alice, Raoul s mother, Bernier, Raoul
s vassal, and Count Ybert, family member to Bernier, see Christianity as a valuable resource when
making arguments or trying to persuade someone. However, Christianity is not seen as a positive to
everyone, especially Raoul. As Raoul s feud with King Louis and his quest to take over a fief goes on,
his interactions with Christian figures and symbols illustrate his eventual downfall. So, exactly how is
Christianity depicted in Raoul of Cambrai and what is the purpose of characters faith? Christianity is
depicted as a downfall for Raoul, and the purpose of characters faith is to foreshadow. In the epic,
characters whose faith is substantial and positive often are able to foreshadow what happens. For
Raoul, whose faith is fragile, Christianity becomes his downfall to his inevitable death at the hands of
Bernier. Christianity is first depicted in Raoul of Cambrai when Raoul is baptized. This scene, when
the Bishop receives Raoul and baptizes him is one of the rare moments a member of the clergy is
present. Raoul s baptism was rather distinct in that Lady Alice, Raoul s

The Depiction Of A Hero In Captain America
It s another beautiful day with people weaving in and out of buildings getting to their destination
following the status quo.The normal everyday routine when all of a sudden something goes south
extremely quickly.A villain appears and starts terrorizing the town, and it seems that no one can save
the citizens. Then bursting into action a Hero bursts onto the scene and saves the day, and ultimately
the hero ends up winning. The No matter who the hero may be all hero movies follow the same theme.
What really changes is the way that said hero is built up through the cinematography of the movie.
That is where the true differences can be made, but the depiction of one hero in particular remains
constant. That hero being Captain America. The first box office depiction of Captain America took
place in 1990 and evolved to what we know and have seen in Captain America the Winter Soldier.

Two Cheers For Anarchism
In this essay I will reflect upon James Scott s Two Cheers for Anarchism , exploring both the novel
and the concept of anarchism. Firstly, I will explain why I chose to focus upon Two Cheers for
Anarchism arguing that many of merits of the book result from the unusual style which Scott adopted.
Subsequently, I will justify the fragmented framework I have adopted from the book for this essay and
highlight how this style allows me to reflect much more effectively upon both the book and the
concept of anarchism. This will compromise the first section of my essay. The second fragmented
section will bring into consideration many themes from the book from the nature of historical
interpretation to queries about human nature and democracy. In lieu of a conclusion ... Show more

Furthermore, I will attempt to identify any underlying themes within the fragments and try to say why
these themes are so innate to writing about anarchism.
What makes James Scott s book persuasive, entertaining and distinctive is, in my view, the method he
employed when writing Two Cheers for Anarchism . Instead of adopting what could be called the
traditional western ideal for an argument, a premise by premise account leading the reader to a
conclusion with which no rational human could disagree. Scott adopts a much more personalised and
fragmented approach which allows him to flit from argument to argument in a manner more in tune
with the capricious nature of human thought and attention span. This personalised fragmented style
simultaneously allows Scott to engage the reader with anecdotes and avoid the characteristic dryness
of so many books which are intended to be an introduction to a political ideology. The persuasive
power of Two Cheers for Anarchism however does not arise merely from the reader friendly

The Effect Of Coffee Rust Essay
Also, recent low prices have restrained investment, which in turn leads to poor management practices
and strategies. In some cases, old trees have yet to be replaced, and pruning and care regimens are
neglected or performed poorly due to lack of labor (Magrath 2014). The lack of investment is
important for both finance and education. Smaller farmers often do not have enough money to gain
access to resources that could help in instructing them how to use the land and regenerate their crops
(Wakefield 2015).
A few promising solutions exist for mitigating the effects of coffee rust. A few of them include
government support, management options, improved technology and information sharing systems, and
changing social perceptions of coffee.
One possible way to indirectly prevent coffee rust from spreading to epidemic levels is for the
government to provide some support to farmers. Government subsidies for seeds, fertilizers, and
pesticides have the potential to help farmers cope with the investment difficulties they currently face
(Stone 2014).
There is some debate over whether full sun or shade coffee provides more protection against coffee
rust. Rust is easier to control on plants in full sun, as most of the time the coffee planted in full sun are
large plantations that are spaced farther apart. This allows for easier application of fungicides. Farther
spacing also allows for wind to blow within and throughout the coffee plants, drying them and
preventing free standing water

Benefits Of Leisure And Leisure
Results
Benefits of Leisure Although recreation and leisure has been proven to be beneficial to the physical
and mental health of youth, sports participation has declined from 77% in 1992 to 59% in 2005 (Holt,
Kingsley, Tink, Scherer, 2010). In 2005 Spinney and Millward (2010) did a study determining that
despite the benefits of leisure those living in financial poverty are not participated in active programs
as they are costly, despite having the desire to. Physical inactivity can have serious physical
consequences, it can lead to obesity, heart disease, diabetes, different types of cancer, and osteoporosis
(Weiss, Platt, Paradis, 2007). When families and individuals who are LI do not have equal access to
recreation and leisure programs, it makes sense then that their risk for these consequences can
increase. Aside from unequal access to leisure it has also been determined that people who are LI
often do not use resources that may be provided to them, either due to not knowing they exist, or
issues with transportation, view of poor health, or lack of motivation (Weiss et al, 2007). Aside from
physically active leisure, there are also benefits to more passive leisure as it allows individuals to
detach from their other responsibilities, such as work (Sonnentag, 2012). The benefits are often
psychological and can help reduce stress and increase wellbeing and social skills (Sonnentag, 2012).

Dead Poets Society Film Analysis
In Dead Poets Society , directed by Peter Weir, It is not the film with happy ending or story which can
happen in everyday life , The theme presented in the scenario is shown on both sides as a positive or
negative idea , the film allows viewers to make their own decision about it. The theme is emphasized
and given importance through the costuming choices, dialogues , the shots and angles. In this essay , I
will analyze the last scene of a movie which perfectly underlines the theme of the movie freedom for
students to make their own decisions even if it is unpredictable. When you watch the movie you feel
negative emotionally and from the beginning to the end you wait something good to happen as a
viewer you have a feeling that in some point of the movie everything is going to change and become
more clear you are waiting that there will be a moment when these students are going to change the
way they think , the way they talk to their parents as a teenager you have a feeling that there will be a
moment when they are going to tell the parents that they want to live and make decisions considering
their own opinion and they don t care what their dad or mom wants them to become because they
think different , they feel different and they want to live different. The reason why I chose a last scene
is that even after their best friend died they don t change anything in their personality until last scene.

now known for their theatrical style of collective action during the sixties. The group mainly consisted
of hippies, counterculture revolutionist, political workers, and activists. The Yippies harbored

The Ivory Trade And Its Effect On The Trade
Throughout the course of history, humans have long used the exchange of goods as a way to socially
interact and provide for themselves. Trading is a cornerstone of modern society and it is how materials
and objects can be transferred around the world. The ivory trade is a practice that has been in place for
centuries. In the last one to two hundred years, the negative impacts of the trade have begun to
surface. The elephant populations, specifically in Africa, are rapidly declining with the illegal trade
taking place today. The ban on the ivory trade was put into place in order to save the elephant
populations and reduce the harmful environmental impacts. The use of international law in the

In the 19th century, most of the elephants in Southern Africa were wiped out, and then a large
reduction of the animals in West Africa took place by the end of the 20th century. These huge
reductions in the elephant populations meant that ivory was becoming scarcer. In the first half of the
20th century, the world was ravaged by large wars including both of the World Wars. The trade slowed
a great deal, until the economic prosperity in the 1960s and 1970s sparked a new emergence of ivory
demand (Underwood 8). Reports show that in the beginning of the 1970s, Japan was the largest global
consumer of ivory, with about 40% consumption. Europe and North America were the next largest
consumers, with another 40% being split between them (Underwood 8). An analysis of the trade
shows that around this time, the elephant populations were under great stress. African elephants were
at their lowest numbers ever, and they continued to decline with no real international efforts to stop
the trade. While ivory may have been an important commodity in the world, the impacts that the trade
had on the elephants and their environments was devastating. If the ivory trade was so significant back
in the middle of the 20th century, then what changed in order to result in a ban on it? The international
community brought attention to this issue and began to implement international law with the
introduction of CITES, or the Convention on International Trade

The Balance Sheet For Microsoft
According to Bruns (2004), the balance sheet is a financial document, which identifies a company s
assets and liabilities. By deducting asserts from liabilities, a company s net worth can be calculated to
show the value of the company. Further, it shows the financial of the company on a particular date and
it provides a snapshot of a business health at a point in time (Bond, n.d. p. 4). However, the fact that
the balance sheet is a snapshot denotes that it is only valid at the time it was created. Thus, it may not
represent a true and fair view of the company. In this essay, I will discuss different aspects of the
balance sheet for Microsoft. I will also focus on the importance of the balance sheet and the role it
carries out.
Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen from Seattle, and incorporated in 1981
(Liquori, 2011). Being the number one software company in the world Microsoft employs about

Denver and Salt Lake City, Utah by rail. However, David had a problem: the Rocky Mountains were

I think this is a strength because they need eye contact to know who they are talking to especially if its
couple or group counselling that is taking place. I would use this when being with my clients because
they would need to be able to know that I am being assertive to them when they are expressing what
they have bottled up for a long time and so this allows them to know that they can trust me.
During the session a strength that was pointed out what that I was able to reflect throughout the

to the client everything they said and also expressing the same emotion that they told me back to them
to show them what they are doing and so this shows them what emotion they are putting in with their
words so that they know how they are feeling about a certain topic. I think this is a strength because

Alice Paul Thesis
Suffragist Alice Paul got transferred out of the psychopathic ward of Washington, and being force fed.
During her toil Alice Paul said, Why not let this miserable creature starve. The country would be much
better off without her and the balance of her gang of pickets. (Dismore 1). Alice Paul went on this
immense hunger strike for her six companions. She wanted to give her six companions better food.
She threatened to kill herself of starvation. She was very determined, she was force fed multiple times,
but she cared so much for her companion that she didn t give up. Amidst her hunger strike she and her
companions were put into solitary confinement inside a tiny cell with boarded up windows. All this
shows Alice Paul will never give up and she spoke with her actions not her words. Reason 2
Throughout her life Alice Paul fought hard against president Woodrow Wilson. She put up banners.
Did silent protesting in front of the White House. Throughout this she endured mant many things. She
endured many things. She had to stay in one house for 2 days due to public outrage when she showed
a Kaiser Wilson banner to a Russian person going into the White House. In Alice Paul it says, They

She did countless things to pass an amendment which would grant the women their wish of being able
to have their rights. Including a hunger strike, a silent protest, and she even endured force feeding. In
Alice Paul it says, For five months the White House siege continued; while Congress refused to act
without word from the president. (William and Mary Lavender 4). This shows the frustration that she
had to go through, and how much the government seemed stubborn. She never gave up despite
knowing the fact that president Wilson wouldn t budge. In the end she was able to convince president
Wilson. She never even married. If that doesn t show her devotion I don t know what

Edwin Hubble Research Paper
As you look into the night sky, what do you see? Little bright dots that you can barely see? Edwin
Hubble invented the Hubble Space Telescope that helped scientists around the world observe space. In
this Essay, I will be covering who Edwin Hubble is, what exactly his revolutionary telescope is, his
key discovers, and also the implications of his discoveries.
Edwin Hubble was an American Astronomer and Scientist that lived from 1889 1953. As a kid he
began reading science fiction novels and fell in love. In 1906, Hubble attended the University of
Chicago where he studied law philosophy. He graduated three years later with a bachelor s degree in
jurisprudence. Not long after he decided to attend the University of Chicago once again and study
Astronomy. He graduated from the University of Chicago and immediately served in WWI before
pursuing the field of astrophysics. Then, California s Mount Wilson Observatory recruited him to help
complete the construction of their Hooker Telescope. While working at the ... Show more content on

In 1920, Hubble noticed a pulsating star with a Cepheid variable inside each one. He then calculated
how far away each Cepheid laid as well as how far to each nebula and discovered they were too
distant to be inside the Milky Way. Due to this, he realized that there indeed was galaxies outside of
the Milky Way. Lastly, Hubble discovered the Big Bang Theory. He studied ancient light and
concluded about 13.7 billion years ago nothing existed. All matter and energy in the universe was
compressed into an extremely small volume. 13 years ago it exploded and expanded in all directions.
The support to back this up is light from other galaxies and how the spectral lines almost shifted
towards the red end of the spectrum as red shift galaxies are moving away, making Earth expand.
Hubble s key discoveries have helped many scientists conclude exactly how our universe started out
and how it may

David Lewis Ability Theory
If physicalism is true, Mary knows all there is to know, and hence her knowledge is complete. When
Mary steps out of the room and sees a red tomato, she learns about what it is like to see a red tomato.
Since Mary knows all the physical facts, what she learns outside the room is a phenomenological
feature of her visual experience, also known as qualia. Qualia, the subjective experience, relate to
sensations and emotions such as feeling exhausted due to a headache. An example of qualia is what it
is like for me to taste this specific type of candy at this moment. In Mary s case, she learns what it is
like to see the red tomato when she is outside of the room. The world has a combination of non
physical and physical facts. Therefore, the theory of physicalism is false as Frank Jackson s
Knowledge Argument takes account of qualia which successfully targets what physicalism lacks. ...

This objection attacks the claim that Mary learns a new fact. According to Lewis, new experience
gives an individual new ability. For instance, a person tasting Vegemite for the first time would result
in gaining the ability to remember the taste, to recognize the taste the next time he has Vegemite, and
to imagine that same taste. So, when Mary knows what it is like to see red, she gains the ability to
remember, to imagine, and to recognize. However, gaining a new ability is different from gaining a
new information. A new ability, moreover, doesn t have a phenomenal property. Therefore, Mary didn
t learn any new fact and the Knowledge Argument fails to refute

Short Story Morg The Greatest Inventors Of All Time
Garret Morgan is easily one of the greatest inventors of all time. Morgan was born on March 4, 1877,
in Paris, Kentucky to two former slaves Sydney Morgan and Elizabeth Reed Morgan. Morgan left his
home at the age of fourteen and ended up in Ohio, where began to work finding odd jobs till he was
able to save up enough money and start a business of his own. Morgan opened his own tailoring shop
where he fixed sewing machines, and he eventually expanded it to clothing made from the sewing
machines he built. Garret Morgan loved working with his hands and experimenting with new
machines and products. In 1912 Morgan developed the safety hood which would eventually be known
as the gas mask, it had a hood with an insert for fresh air and an exit for exhaled air; it was also
connected to a tube in the back, which was an open end that contained a water soaked sponge, the
sponge would filter out smoke and so fresh air could get in. Because Garret Morgan was African
American, the gas mask was not widely accepted, particularly in the south. Garret had to hire a white
male to pose as the inventor of the safety hood; he himself would act as a test dummy during the
presentations of the product. This worked in Morgan s favor the presentations skyrocketed the sales of
the safety hood, especially among police and firefighters.
The great importance of the safety hood was not fully understood until 1916 when workers building a
tunnel in Lake Erie hit a pocket of natural gas, this caused an

Washington DC. His findings are based on survey responses from computer based surveys distributed
to 1,000 urban adolescents and his own 15 minute observation of 300 teenagers that were studying.

Implementing A Healthcare Information Infrastructure
CPOE Implementation Challenges
Many healthcare organizations remain focused on continually improving their operations to better
align with industry and government best practices. Specifically, the improvement in quality of
healthcare has gained interest among policy makers in recent years (Carlfjord, Lindberg, Bendtsen,
Nilsen Andersson, 2010, p. 1). This is likely because healthcare policy makers strive to overcome
some of the larger scale issues affecting the industry and patient care. One of the issues that hospitals
and other healthcare organizations want to correct is how many mistakes are made by healthcare
providers, as these errors negatively impact patient outcomes and open up healthcare organizations for
possible liability. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hospitals have begun implementing Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) systems intended to
streamline and computerize the process of maintaining patient records and prescribing medications.
These systems allow hospital administrators and healthcare professionals to quickly access clinical
guidelines, recommendations, patient information, and other factors critical to patient care all at once.
It was the intention of the hospital that the implementation and expense of this new system would
reduce the number of errors detected.
However, one case study at Springfield General Hospital demonstrated how sometimes these
implementation processes fail to make measurable improvements. In fact, at Springfield General
Hospital, the overall number of these types of mistakes increased after implementation instead of
reducing it. The hospital evaluated the situation and found glaring issues after its implementation of its
CPOE.
Implementation Challenges
In evaluating why the CPOE made the situation worse, first it is important to note that the information
listed within the system was not accurate. Healthcare providers relied upon the data within the CPOE
to make decisions in terms of dosage and possible medication interactions. However, the dosages
listed in the CPOE display, however, are based on the pharmacy s warehousing and purchasing
decisions, not clinical guidelines (Spector, 2013, p. 148). The warehousing and

Luke And John Comparison Essay
On the surface, the Gospels of Luke and John seem to contain more differences than similarities; just
as the men who wrote them were different. Author of one of the synoptic Gospels, Luke, identified by
Paul as the beloved physician (Col. 4:14), was a well educated Gentile who writes a historical, non
eyewitness, carefully investigated, consecutive account of events (Luke 1:3) for the specific purpose
that the recipient would know the exact truth of what he was taught (Luke 1:4). From the angel of the
Lord s words to Zacharias preceding Jesus birth to Christ s ascension into heaven, Luke gives great
detail of events and is more interested in persons than ideas.
In contrast, John, whom church tradition affirms the disciple Jesus loved, was an uneducated and
untrained man (Acts 4:13) who, as a disciple of Christ, was an eyewitness to His ... Show more

He also addresses the temptation of Jesus in the desert, the Sermon on the Mount, as well as many
events of Jesus ministry in Galilee and Jerusalem not found in John. In contrast, the Gospel of John
begins with a proclamation of the divine glory and deity of Jesus Christ, God Himself, in human flesh
dwelling among man and womankind, recording a relatively short span of time with an emphasis on
the later Judean ministry of Christ. Luke records many short sayings of Jesus and parables that are not
recorded in John s writings. John expands on encounters with Jesus with an element of symbolism that
brings a deep revelation of the person of Christ. John does not record His ascension, but ends the
Gospel acknowledging that if everything that Jesus did during His life on earth was recorded even the
world itself would not contain the books that would be written (John 21:25). Luke preserves faith built
on history whereas John presents a more theological view born of

Factors That Influence Effective Curriculum Essay
1. Write a paragraph describing the four factors that influence effective curriculum. Then choose one
of the factors and write a paragraph describing it in detail.
p. 298 307 At the 9th edition of the book, it says that there are five factors that influence effective
curriculum. First, inclusive curriculum is a curriculum that is designed for all children in terms of their
gender, abilities, disabilities, language, culture, ethnicity, and religion according to the textbook. This
is where it gives importance on the strengths and accommodates the needs of the children in terms of
the activities and materials. Second, integrated curriculum is a curriculum that designs to think as a
whole child in terms of child s skills, abilities, knowledge and in different areas of study that will
support their learning. Third, emergent curriculum is a process of curriculum based on teacher s
observation and children s interests, learning, and the ability to make choices. Fourth, multiple
intelligence is where children have various kinds of intelligence, such as linguistic intelligence, logical
mathematical, spatial, bodily kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, and
existential. Fifth, children have different methods of learning, such as the visual, auditory and tactile
kinesthetic learner. I choose Multiple Intelligence to describe it in details. Children have different
categories of intelligence, according to Gardner s theory. Some of the categories of Multiple

  • 2. The Importance Of Media In The Media Media is everywhere around the world, it surrounds us even when sometimes we don t even notice it. It can appear from newspapers to news, or as well physically and throughout electronic devices such as cell phones. We consider it as a tool to make time fly ahead or to spectate what is going on with other people s lives. However, we may encounter certain factors that may not appeal to us. We may see postings or news about tragic events that happen around the world and surprisingly, sometimes we don t even bother to care, due to the fact that it wasn t us in that situation. There are a great number of aspects to be resolved for this world to be free from issues, but a question that comes to mind is, What if it never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example that can relate to this song is when 9/11 happened, due to terrorists. An unexpected tragic event that no one thought would happen that took many lives from loved ones to close ones. In addition, Billie Joe Armstrong s pathos has an outstanding true meaning based from the lyrics, A new day dawning, comes without warning... . One can interpret based on this factor that every day is a new opportunity for something tragic to happen. This here is the message that Billie Joe Armstrong is trying to convey to us all. He wants us to realize that all though we live happy at times, there is always something dark waiting to approach at any time with unpredictable outcome. A second example based on this observation can be the terror attack that happened recently on Friday when a bombing occurred in a London train underground that injured 30 passengers on board. And furthermore, a second man was arrested a couple days later due to the fact that he too was also affiliated with the incident as well according to officers. In addition to the topic, Billie Joe Armstrong states about love and peace and how it s impossible for such thing like that to occur, What good is love and peace on earth? When it s exclusive? , as if he were trying to say that it would have to take a miracle for the world to resolve from this. Many people have experienced moments when others are made fun of or times when people fight for various reasons such as an argument. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bradley s, Indian Country Today (1997) are created by different authors, possible for different reasons, but they have a similar subject matter. They both picture nature. Bierstadt s painting shows the landscape of the Rocky Mountains, hence the name. Pictured are rolling valleys, rugged mountains, and what looks like a civilization of Native Americans. On the other hand, Bradley s painting is an example of how modern India is viewed through his eyes. Instead of beautiful hills and mountains, he illustrates roads, food trucks, vehicles, etc. Also, in the background what seems to be airplanes are pictured, as well as, construction. Bradley, unlike Bierstadt, uses variety in his work of art. His painting is made up of high intensity. He uses vivid colors and even shapes to express the subject matter. The different colors used catches the eyes of those who view it. The artists chose excellent colors to go with their paintings. Interpret: Bierstadt s painting shows the Rocky Mountains in the 1800 s. The beautiful scenery expresses how stunning the world was during that time. There were waterfalls, tee pees, and sprouting trees. The Earth has been bruised and beaten. The scenery illustrated in this painting is rare. However, Bradley s painting seems to show what landscapes are like presently even if it was created in the late 1900 s. The construction, the entertainment by the dancers express that Bradley believes that India is more of a tourist spot now. It is not appreciated for its beauty anymore. People come to watch the traditional dances, not participate. They come and go, they do not usually settle. But he does show a person shooting an arrow at the billboard that says, Land Development . The People s Insurance Company Of Canada Name : Dolphine Bisase Id : 213349311 Assignment: Midterm Assignment, Management 3990 While the intention was that the People s Insurance Company of Canada (PICC) would have an organic organizational structure, this intention was at least partially offset by the close integration of the Insurance company with the parent People s Bank. The result was an entity in which the superficially organic, generally non hierarchical Insurance organization has been overridden by the highly hierarchical and mechanistic bank organization. The PICC s actual structure has both mechanistic and organic aspects. With regard to work specialization, it is generally narrow and mechanistic with the VP for HR, Mary Thorne, fighting an ongoing battle with the Bank on the grounds that PICC needed staff with specialized skills in the insurance industry. With respect to chain of command, while the structure of PICC was intended to be open, non hierarchical and organic, it is clear that it is generally mechanistic in its most important aspects. For example, while there may be an open office environment in general, the senior team members have private offices. Similarly, while the the emphasis of PICC is towards self managing teams, many approvals such as new purchases had to be signed off by multiple layers of the bank s management. Thus, the chain of command is very rigid in terms of its senior decision makers. In terms of centralization of decision making, it appears that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Thrips Thrips are members of the order Thysanoptera and have a slender body morphology with fringed wings. Similar to whiteflies, there are about 5,000 species of thrips, but 10 are known to vector plant viruses (Hull, 2002c). Like aphids, their polyphagous nature and ability to reproduce quickly and parthenogenically are contributing factors to their effectiveness as virus vectors. Thrips tabaci , for example is capable of feeding on 140 different plants species and produce several generations within a year (Hull, 2002c). Thrips are known for vectoring tospoviruses which have a persistent propagative relationship, where the only the first instar larvae can acquire the virus, the larval instars are wingless and not very active, so these are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Salivation in piercing sucking insects is considered important in the dispersal of plant viruses (Bragard et al., 2013). Alternatively, chewing beetles regurgitate during feeding which then covers their mouthparts with plant sap, but counter intuitively does not allow for a purely mechanical transmission of viruses. There is still specificity due to RNase activity and retention involved with beetle transmission. While it may seem that there are not many known beetle vectors of plant viruses, due to the size and diversity of the Coleoptera order, it is believe there are many that remain to be discovered (Hull, 2002c). Plant viruses can have many negative impacts on agricultural crops that often is difficult to quantify into an estimated economic loss due to the inconspicuous nature of viruses. Damage imposed by viruses can include a reduction in plant growth directly reducing yield or a reduction in vigor which can leave a plant more susceptible to other environmental or pest related damage (Hull, 2002b). In addition, viral symptoms can reduce the quality and marketability of the crop which can either be in its appearance, composition, ability to keep, or be used as propagation material. Other mentionable impacts are the costs associated with maintaining crop health due to viruses such as vector control, cultural hygiene, producing and purchasing virus free material, quarantine programs, breeding programs, and funding research programs (Hull, 2002b). • 7. The Era Of Discrimination By Jane Austen The Era Of Discrimination Feminism can be defined by three major components: social, political and economic equality of the sexes. Throughout history, women have battled to gain equality with men. Elizabeth Bennet and other women have been suppressed from opportunities merely because of their gender and have fought to be considered as equals to men. Women are far more than someone s wife or daughter, they are more than just their counterparts, they are human beings. From a morality standpoint, Elizabeth and other women should not be married off based on the need of survival but for the need of wanting to be married for true love. Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, displays feminism through the aspects of women s dependence on men, class snobbery, and alienation. In the 1800s, women s sole purpose in life was to find a suitable husband, women had no other choice but to depend on a man for certain needs and wants. Most feminist studies have represented Austen as a conscious or unconscious subversive voicing a woman s frustration at the rigid and sexist social order which enforces women s subservience and dependence. (Morrison, 337). The protagonist in the novel, Elizabeth Bennet defies the social norms of the 1800s by not wanting to marry solely for economic gain. For example, Elizabeth is impoverished and needs to marry a man with good wealth but she realises that with being in a loveless marriage comes with unhappiness. The daughters of the Bennet family had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The law is an example of the inhabitants attempting to reclaim their home from the invader by focusing on the aftermath not the moment. In addition, the law places an emphasis on the future; the health and longevity of the hibakusha. Understandably, the political and civil method of resolution is the most arduous. • 9. Grizzly Bear Recovery Case Study Chris Servheen, the Grizzly Bear Recovery Coordinator for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, has said that the grizzly bears have met every criteria set forth towards their recovery plan. Since meeting these criteria, it may be time to have them removed from the Endangered Species List (delisted). Delisting means that the bears won t be protected by the Endangered Species Act (ESA). As it can be seen from the grizzly delisting public comments that I agreed with, I am against having the grizzlies delisted. I believe that the current population is too small, even though it has recovered a good amount from the recovery plan. Also, I believe that the population is too isolated to ensure long term survival. Based on expert opinion, the current population is about ¼ of what is needed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More importantly, the long term health of the grizzlies can be assured by maintaining a population number of a several thousand. This include expanding their potential living area and connecting the grizzly bear ecosystems to source populations in Canada. In addition to this, delisting relies on the importation of bears to address genetic problems. It requires the importation of two bears every ten years into the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to address genetic problem. Importing these bears into the ecosystem is not likely to provide necessary gene flow due to the low success of transplants in habitat that is already occupied. Also, the delisting plans does not seem to consider the degree and the pace of habitat change occurring in the region. • 10. Essay on Surrogate Motherhood Surrogate Motherhood is something that not many people actually support, even though it is one of the many reproductive techniques that have enabled infertile couples to have children (qtd. in Freedman). There are two types of surrogacy, traditional and gestational. The traditional type of surrogacy involves the surrogate mother being (AI) artificially inseminated with the sperm of the intended father or sperm from a donor when the sperm count is low. In either case the surrogate s own egg will be used. Genetically the surrogate becomes the mother of the resulting child (Storey). He also recognized that their spokesman didn t realize his offer would cause adverse action against Bristol Myers Squibb (Baron, 2010). He played to their ignorance and entered the agreement. There is no direct answer to the ethics of Sherman s strategy. He did not actively participate or even condone Brisol Myers Squibb s collusion; in fact he knew the agreement would be rejected. (Turcotte). When women are given the opportunity they are capable of surpassing women stereotypes. In The Book of Negroes, Lawrence Hill uses characterization to show when women are properly educated they can persevere through oppression. Women have the strength and patience to overcome and when given the proper education they are able to surpass any obstacle. Throughout the novel Aminata Diallo is given opportunities to persevere through oppression. Firstly, when Aminata is bought by Solomon Lindo, they use her to help with things around the house, but once they realize all the things that she is capable of doing they begin to respect and pay her for other work she does for Lindo. Her knowledge allows her to gain respect from higher people and actually get paid for the work she does. Second, Aminata is determined to learn multiple languages and once people begin to understand that she know more than one language they are surprised and treat her differntly; they treat her with more respect because they are surprised a women of colour is capable of doing that. • 15. The Negative Aspects Of School Integration Throughout history school integration has been somewhat of a war, but why? Although school integration should be something that is praised because of what it has done for children in the past, many people and administrators do all in their power to prevent school integration. We claim as a society that all children should have the same opportunities, but in many cases that is not an option without school integration. In order to grow as a rising society, it is important for people to set aside what their negative beliefs about school integration are if it means a better future for children who otherwise would not have the chance to thrive as they should. B. The Problem We All Live With Part One: A Sociological Analysis: In part one of The Problem We All Live With, we are introduced to many incredible, unforgettable facts about the American school district, facts that are very often overlooked in today s society. Nikole Hannah Jones speaks out about her years reporting on the american education system and the different problems she encountered while doing so. Nikole states that administrators have tried to close the enormous achievement gap between 1971 and 1988 between primarily black and white students that was about forty points. Because most underachieving school districts were mostly black and latino, these problems were often dismissed. School districts were not doing much to help the fact that children in segregated schools, more often than not, had the least experienced teachers, which was a large part of the problem(Cole, 1978: 183). The Normandy school district in Missouri became unaccredited because of how poor the quality of the education was. Because Normandy became an unaccredited school, the transfer law came into effect. The transfer law is a law that gave students in unaccredited school districts the right to transfer to a nearby accredited schools for free (Stephanopoulos, 2016: 403). • 16. Child Observation On Human Development Introduction For this observation project we were supposed to watch two different groups of people whose ages range from two to twenty. So we could apply our knowledge of human growth and development to test the effectiveness of current theories and research on development. For my observations I watched two different groups, group A were ages three to four and group B were ages eighteen to twenty. Group A, I observed on a warm, bright sunny Monday afternoon. I watched the children as they played on the playground behind the Lions Club Child Study Center on campus. On this day, I watched a group of 4 children, which included three girls and one boy as they played. One of the little girls in the group had long blonde hair and was wearing a pink ... The only male in the group seemed to struggle with memory. After, a while of play the male became more interested in a bug in the sand. This behavior reinforces Flavell, when he said that children s attention is more like a flash of light that focus on what it wants (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 230). After, examining the bug for a while he began to play as superman. Playing pretend helps children develop better social skills, self control, and they understand the perspective of others (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 242). While observing group B they performed the task of sitting around, talking, and laughing very well. The females in the groups appeared to have strong memory skills. They could follow complex directions. On the other hand, the males in the group seemed to have a problem with memory skills. While watching Group B, the male with the pink T shirt started doing push up and shortly after the male with the black shirt started to do them too. The two males within the group seems to be struggling with imaginary audience. Imaginary Audience is the feeling that everyone is watching (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 513). This was probably caused by the excusive use of the internet. In a study done by Moreno, it was found that adolescents of color used the internet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact, it is estimated that the number of gamers around the world is about 1.2 billion people. That is a good portion of Earth s 7.2 billion population. Gaming is huge. Despite that, there are quite a few stereotypes regarding gamers. Some people seem to think that gamers are all a bunch of nerdy losers who do nothing but sit around and waste their lives behind a monitor and with a controller in their hands. No matter how many gamers are not like this, there will always be at least one individual who will fit this stereotype perfectly. For example, flash games like Flow are accessible to anyone on the Internet. Flow is a game where the player starts off as a tiny organism consisting of only a mouth and a torso. The calm, tranquil music of the game ease the mind into a state of relaxation as the gamer play and develop into a higher functioning organism in the game. Other flash games are good for people whose brains won t sit still and who have trouble concentrating. So one can argue that gamers are highly adapted at finding ways to relax and hone their focus. The Future Of Zoos During The World Of Activists Attacks The Future of Zoos In the Midst of Activists Attacks In an increasingly threatening environmental crisis, zoos are participating in the conservation of species. However, this statement holds under certain conditions. First, the Humane Society recommends zoos to be organized around a core mission that educates the public about the needs of the animals and the threats they face . Also, zoos should provide animals with humane care and adapted to their physical, social and psychological needs. Finally, ASPCA indicates, zoos should participate in tightly controlled breeding programs and their display should stress the themes of endangered species, wild habitat destruction and reduced biodiversity . Adversity Research Paper When facing catastrophe or hardship, people are often challenged to think outside of their comfort zones and sometimes these challenges bring to light something that a person would never have thought possible. I agree with Horace s quote about adversity and how it can be for the better. I believe that most troubling situations can be resolved with ingenious thoughts. Notwithstanding my agreement, I also recognized sometimes adversity can be the downfall of a person in a troubling situation. However, occasionally these vicissitudes can turn out to be an integral part of something much more important than them. My view on how to be successful in life is to take initiative, set goals, and plan to make prosperous things happen in your life. Yet, this planning does not assure that your future path will be free of pot holes, road blocks, or detours along the way. Having adversities in your life can make you a versatile person. The Body By Steven King Analysis How does a child receive the necessary parental guidance growing up if their parents and all other adults in their life are abusive, neglectful, and at best uninvolved? Throughout Steven King s novella The Body it becomes evident that children will try to find guidance in almost anything. But, as King demonstrates in his novella, the most common source of guidance comes from a child s friends. All four boys, Gordie, Teddy, Vern, and Chris replace the rolls of their parents by comforting, protecting, and counselling each other through tough times. First, the boys replace the guidance rolls of their parents by comforting each other. This can be scene multiple times throughout the novella and probably produces some of the most dramatic scenes in the Novella. The boys comfort each other in multiple ways with the most common way of comfort being through words. At the dump, when Milo and Teddy have the whole name calling incident, Teddy is cut deep emotionally by Milo s rude comments about his father. This is where King implements the first dose of parental comfort from a friend into the story. Walking along the tracks after leaving the dump, Teddy breaks down and begins to sob, this is when Chris steps in to comfort Teddy. After what was called the Second Industrial Revolution most major countries started to create new technologies that in the end would pave the way for World War I. These technologies ranged from the most used everyday things all the way up to specific types of weaponry to be used in specific scenarios along the trenches. Most of these technologies of war, developed from common civilian or household items, these could only result in better use in war. • 27. Raoul Of Cambrai And Christianity Essay Raoul of Cambrai and Christianity Raoul of Cambrai, an old French epic, has strong ties to Christianity despite only having several actual figures from the Church present in the story. Characters consistently use phrases such as By God , I pray , for my faith , and numerous references to saints and their relics in the epic linking their beliefs to Christianity. Lady Alice, Raoul s mother, Bernier, Raoul s vassal, and Count Ybert, family member to Bernier, see Christianity as a valuable resource when making arguments or trying to persuade someone. However, Christianity is not seen as a positive to everyone, especially Raoul. As Raoul s feud with King Louis and his quest to take over a fief goes on, his interactions with Christian figures and symbols illustrate his eventual downfall. So, exactly how is Christianity depicted in Raoul of Cambrai and what is the purpose of characters faith? Christianity is depicted as a downfall for Raoul, and the purpose of characters faith is to foreshadow. In the epic, characters whose faith is substantial and positive often are able to foreshadow what happens. For Raoul, whose faith is fragile, Christianity becomes his downfall to his inevitable death at the hands of Bernier. Christianity is first depicted in Raoul of Cambrai when Raoul is baptized. Scott adopts a much more personalised and fragmented approach which allows him to flit from argument to argument in a manner more in tune with the capricious nature of human thought and attention span. In some cases, old trees have yet to be replaced, and pruning and care regimens are neglected or performed poorly due to lack of labor (Magrath 2014). The lack of investment is important for both finance and education. Smaller farmers often do not have enough money to gain access to resources that could help in instructing them how to use the land and regenerate their crops (Wakefield 2015). A few promising solutions exist for mitigating the effects of coffee rust. A few of them include government support, management options, improved technology and information sharing systems, and changing social perceptions of coffee. One possible way to indirectly prevent coffee rust from spreading to epidemic levels is for the government to provide some support to farmers. Government subsidies for seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides have the potential to help farmers cope with the investment difficulties they currently face (Stone 2014). There is some debate over whether full sun or shade coffee provides more protection against coffee rust. Rust is easier to control on plants in full sun, as most of the time the coffee planted in full sun are large plantations that are spaced farther apart. This allows for easier application of fungicides. Farther spacing also allows for wind to blow within and throughout the coffee plants, drying them and preventing free standing water ... In 2005 Spinney and Millward (2010) did a study determining that despite the benefits of leisure those living in financial poverty are not participated in active programs as they are costly, despite having the desire to. Physical inactivity can have serious physical consequences, it can lead to obesity, heart disease, diabetes, different types of cancer, and osteoporosis (Weiss, Platt, Paradis, 2007). • 37. The Ivory Trade And Its Effect On The Trade Throughout the course of history, humans have long used the exchange of goods as a way to socially interact and provide for themselves. Trading is a cornerstone of modern society and it is how materials and objects can be transferred around the world. The ivory trade is a practice that has been in place for centuries. In the last one to two hundred years, the negative impacts of the trade have begun to surface. The elephant populations, specifically in Africa, are rapidly declining with the illegal trade taking place today. The ban on the ivory trade was put into place in order to save the elephant populations and reduce the harmful environmental impacts. The use of international law in the creation of the ban on the trade and the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 19th century, most of the elephants in Southern Africa were wiped out, and then a large reduction of the animals in West Africa took place by the end of the 20th century. These huge reductions in the elephant populations meant that ivory was becoming scarcer. In the first half of the 20th century, the world was ravaged by large wars including both of the World Wars. The trade slowed a great deal, until the economic prosperity in the 1960s and 1970s sparked a new emergence of ivory demand (Underwood 8). Reports show that in the beginning of the 1970s, Japan was the largest global consumer of ivory, with about 40% consumption. Europe and North America were the next largest consumers, with another 40% being split between them (Underwood 8). An analysis of the trade shows that around this time, the elephant populations were under great stress. African elephants were at their lowest numbers ever, and they continued to decline with no real international efforts to stop the trade. While ivory may have been an important commodity in the world, the impacts that the trade had on the elephants and their environments was devastating. If the ivory trade was so significant back in the middle of the 20th century, then what changed in order to result in a ban on it? The international community brought attention to this issue and began to implement international law with the introduction of CITES, or the Convention on International Trade ... • 38. The Balance Sheet For Microsoft According to Bruns (2004), the balance sheet is a financial document, which identifies a company s assets and liabilities. By deducting asserts from liabilities, a company s net worth can be calculated to show the value of the company. Further, it shows the financial of the company on a particular date and it provides a snapshot of a business health at a point in time (Bond, n.d. p. 4). However, the fact that the balance sheet is a snapshot denotes that it is only valid at the time it was created. Thus, it may not represent a true and fair view of the company. In this essay, I will discuss different aspects of the balance sheet for Microsoft. I will also focus on the importance of the balance sheet and the role it carries out. Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen from Seattle, and incorporated in 1981 (Liquori, 2011). Being the number one software company in the world Microsoft employs about 52,000 people working full time, 21,000 in product research and development, 23,500 in sales, marketing, and support, 2,200 in manufacturing and distribution, and 4,000 in finance and administration. The following report will include an analysis of financial reports, income statements, Balance sheets, and cash flow statements (Liquori, 2011). Several companies use the balance sheet to make sound business decisions. The balance sheet is like a quantitative summary of a company s financial condition at a specific point in time, including the assets, liabilities, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Denver Pacific Railroad Research Paper In the 1800 s, Colorado was pretty much a gold mine for settlers traveling west. The city of Denver was bypassed by the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) through Cheyenne, Wyoming from Omaha, Nebraska, 100 miles to the north. David Halliday Moffat, one of Denver s most important financiers and industrialists, had a vision. Having built several rail lines for a few railroads such as the Denver Pacific Railway (DP) and the Denver, South Park, and Pacific Railway (DSP P), he wanted to connect Denver and Salt Lake City, Utah by rail. However, David had a problem: the Rocky Mountains were in the way. By 1887, Moffat was elected president of the Denver Rio Grande (D RG), which built a route west from Pueblo to Grand Junction in western Colorado via Tennessee Pass. Beginning in 1902, David Moffat and his associates established the Denver, Northwestern Pacific Railway (DNW P) to address the issue of Denver having been bypassed by both the UP in Cheyenne and the D RG in Pueblo. ... All matter and energy in the universe was compressed into an extremely small volume. 13 years ago it exploded and expanded in all directions. • 44. David Lewis Ability Theory If physicalism is true, Mary knows all there is to know, and hence her knowledge is complete. When Mary steps out of the room and sees a red tomato, she learns about what it is like to see a red tomato. Since Mary knows all the physical facts, what she learns outside the room is a phenomenological feature of her visual experience, also known as qualia. Qualia, the subjective experience, relate to sensations and emotions such as feeling exhausted due to a headache. An example of qualia is what it is like for me to taste this specific type of candy at this moment. In Mary s case, she learns what it is like to see the red tomato when she is outside of the room. The world has a combination of non physical and physical facts. Therefore, the theory of physicalism is false as Frank Jackson s Knowledge Argument takes account of qualia which successfully targets what physicalism lacks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This objection attacks the claim that Mary learns a new fact. According to Lewis, new experience gives an individual new ability. For instance, a person tasting Vegemite for the first time would result in gaining the ability to remember the taste, to recognize the taste the next time he has Vegemite, and to imagine that same taste. So, when Mary knows what it is like to see red, she gains the ability to remember, to imagine, and to recognize. However, gaining a new ability is different from gaining a new information. A new ability, moreover, doesn t have a phenomenal property. Therefore, Mary didn t learn any new fact and the Knowledge Argument fails to refute ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Morgan was born on March 4, 1877, in Paris, Kentucky to two former slaves Sydney Morgan and Elizabeth Reed Morgan. Morgan left his home at the age of fourteen and ended up in Ohio, where began to work finding odd jobs till he was able to save up enough money and start a business of his own. Morgan opened his own tailoring shop where he fixed sewing machines, and he eventually expanded it to clothing made from the sewing machines he built. Garret Morgan loved working with his hands and experimenting with new machines and products. In 1912 Morgan developed the safety hood which would eventually be known as the gas mask, it had a hood with an insert for fresh air and an exit for exhaled air; it was also connected to a tube in the back, which was an open end that contained a water soaked sponge, the sponge would filter out smoke and so fresh air could get in. Because Garret Morgan was African American, the gas mask was not widely accepted, particularly in the south. Garret had to hire a white male to pose as the inventor of the safety hood; he himself would act as a test dummy during the presentations of the product. This worked in Morgan s favor the presentations skyrocketed the sales of the safety hood, especially among police and firefighters. Implementing A Healthcare Information Infrastructure CPOE Implementation Challenges Many healthcare organizations remain focused on continually improving their operations to better align with industry and government best practices. Specifically, the improvement in quality of healthcare has gained interest among policy makers in recent years (Carlfjord, Lindberg, Bendtsen, Nilsen Andersson, 2010, p. 1). This is likely because healthcare policy makers strive to overcome some of the larger scale issues affecting the industry and patient care. One of the issues that hospitals and other healthcare organizations want to correct is how many mistakes are made by healthcare providers, as these errors negatively impact patient outcomes and open up healthcare organizations for possible liability. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hospitals have begun implementing Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) systems intended to streamline and computerize the process of maintaining patient records and prescribing medications. These systems allow hospital administrators and healthcare professionals to quickly access clinical guidelines, recommendations, patient information, and other factors critical to patient care all at once. It was the intention of the hospital that the implementation and expense of this new system would reduce the number of errors detected. However, one case study at Springfield General Hospital demonstrated how sometimes these implementation processes fail to make measurable improvements. In fact, at Springfield General Hospital, the overall number of these types of mistakes increased after implementation instead of reducing it. The hospital evaluated the situation and found glaring issues after its implementation of its CPOE. Implementation Challenges In evaluating why the CPOE made the situation worse, first it is important to note that the information listed within the system was not accurate. Healthcare providers relied upon the data within the CPOE to make decisions in terms of dosage and possible medication interactions. However, the dosages listed in the CPOE display, however, are based on the pharmacy s warehousing and purchasing decisions, not clinical guidelines (Spector, 2013, p. 148). The warehousing and ... • 48. Luke And John Comparison Essay On the surface, the Gospels of Luke and John seem to contain more differences than similarities; just as the men who wrote them were different. Author of one of the synoptic Gospels, Luke, identified by Paul as the beloved physician (Col. 4:14), was a well educated Gentile who writes a historical, non eyewitness, carefully investigated, consecutive account of events (Luke 1:3) for the specific purpose that the recipient would know the exact truth of what he was taught (Luke 1:4). From the angel of the Lord s words to Zacharias preceding Jesus birth to Christ s ascension into heaven, Luke gives great detail of events and is more interested in persons than ideas. In contrast, John, whom church tradition affirms the disciple Jesus loved, was an uneducated and untrained man (Acts 4:13) who, as a disciple of Christ, was an eyewitness to His ... John expands on encounters with Jesus with an element of symbolism that brings a deep revelation of the person of Christ. First, inclusive curriculum is a curriculum that is designed for all children in terms of their gender, abilities, disabilities, language, culture, ethnicity, and religion according to the textbook. This is where it gives importance on the strengths and accommodates the needs of the children in terms of the activities and materials. Second, integrated curriculum is a curriculum that designs to think as a whole child in terms of child s skills, abilities, knowledge and in different areas of study that will support their learning. Third, emergent curriculum is a process of curriculum based on teacher s observation and children s interests, learning, and the ability to make choices. Fourth, multiple intelligence is where children have various kinds of intelligence, such as linguistic intelligence, logical mathematical, spatial, bodily kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, and existential.
