National Health Care For The United States
According to Cothran (2015), Over the past five decades, there have been major shifts in how
we pay for hospital care, physician services, long term care, prescription drugs, and other
services and products . Before Medicare and Medicaid, about half of hospital care was not
covered by insurance. About 100 % of the spending on prescription medications came from the
customers in the 1960s (Cothran, 2015). But, in 2014, customers spent 15% less. Team B will
explain our position on national health care spending in the United States. We will also include:
current national health care costs, if we are spending too much or not, should we add or cut
spending and why, how health care needs are paid for, and future economic needs of the health...

The pharmaceutical industry is yet another part of health care that is receiving immense profits
from its advertisements and a physician prescribing only certain medications. The truth is that some
of the medicines can cause more harm than good. So who s really profiting? Truth is, that the
physicians and pharmaceutical companies are benefiting; when the doctor prescribes medications
that causes more issues than it cures, a revolving door is created so that the physicians and
pharmaceutical companies can keep gaining profits. For instance, if a patient receives medicine to
treat an ailment and it creates more health issues then the doctor will now keep prescribing
medications to fix an issue, when it is actually making the patient worse. By creating a need the
companies are able to keep themselves afloat. The federal budget was 3.8 trillion for the 2015
fiscal year. The government to take care of each and every American divides the 3.8 trillion; this
comes to about 12,000 per American ( National Priorities Project , 2015). Over 90% of federal
monies are used for mandatory and discretionary spending. The rest is spent on interest that the
government has accumulated. 1.11 trillion is the equivalent of what was spent in discretionary
spending in 2015. About 60% was spent on military and government, 6% on education, the rest was
divided almost equally 5% or less on: veteran s benefits, food and agriculture, transportation,
science, environment, housing and

Marshall Mather Research Paper
Anyone who may know Marshall Mathers might find him as an influential person. Marshall
Mathers, also known as Eminem, was bullied as a kid for being small. Marshall wrote songs about
any moment that did happen in his life. Marshall had been through many situations not many
would think about. Marshall has been abused. depressed, addicted, bipolar disorders, and drug
abuse. Marshall does anything he possibly could for his daughters. Marshall Mathers is a positive
influential person because he went through situations and ended up a better person and overcame
many problems which no one would ever believe.
In Marshall s childhood he never finished high school due to many factors in his home life.
Marshall Mather moved schools two or three times a year therefore he was bullied for numerous
reasons. Marshall would study the dictionary to find better words to rhyme in his songs (Khurram).
Despite the fact Marshall failed High School three times before dropping out, Marshall was in fact
great at english (Hanneman). Eminem s song Brain Damage is about a bully he had in school that
led him to a coma (Hanneman). It is important because Marshall had a rough childhood and that led
him to some of the decisions he had made now. In addition to this, he had troubles with his wife,
Kim.

The Formation of Black English and Its Influences on...
1.Introduction African American Vernacular English (AAVE) is one special dialect of American
English, and it is different from Standard American English. African American Vernacular English
can also be called as Black English, Black Vernacular English or African American Language

Black English is not a language . The saying is not correct. According to Montgomery, culture

are only in some degree rather than fundamental. 3.1 Phonetics The first generation of black

Ethical Issues on the Treatment of Animals Essay
Animals have always played an essential role in many aspects of this world. Some people look
upon these roles with favoritism, some with disgust. Animals are considered different from
humans by some people because of their behavior, mannerisms or actions. Some animals are used
as food by humans and other animals, while others are trapped for their furs. Many times people
acquire animals for pets, only to neglect or mistreat them. For many years, the ethical treatment of
animals has been a very controversial topic for moral discussion, often in reference to an ethical
code or rule. In this paper, I will discuss these ethical issues identified with the treatment of animals
as well as exploring these issues from a virtual ethicist s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a religious aspect, God also puts the fear of man into the animals and again animals are used
to fill the needs of men (Genesis 9:1). A virtual ethicist s perspective is fairly simple to relate to.
Our text book clarifies that virtue ethics promotes a particular kind of person a virtuous or noble
person who provides a role model for those who wishes to be moral (Mosser, 2011). Therefore,
relationship with animals, from a virtue ethicist s standpoint, would support virtuous or moral
values. As a virtuous person, a choice could be to abstain from eating animals and from wearing
fur or, perhaps, keeping a low environmental impact lifestyle. An advantage of virtue ethics is that
it brings in all the qualities of being human such as reason, responsibility and emotion to influence
a person s ethical consideration. This can be applied in situations where a person asks what sort of
person he or she should be. However, our text book clarifies that determining what the specific
virtues are, and what the appropriate balance among those virtues should be, can be difficult
(Mosser, 2011). Are people s statements about animal rights meaningful? As an example, a virtuous
person may be of the opinion that everyone should be compassionate to all creatures and not cause
suffering; thus you should not eat animals. This is an evaluation about a situation, more
specifically, a moral judgment. Emotivism, in contrast to virtue ethics, is

Psy 270 Week 5 Case Study Donovan
For starters, one of the first measures that I would use as a means to intervene with Donovan
would be something as simple as a phone call. According to the text, this is something that should
be approached with caution, simply because, the client feeling that they are there for a quick fix,
become lax, and wait for the clinician to pass judgement (Miller, Forechimes, Zweben, 2011). With
this taken into consideration, I would gradually start to introduce the basic screening questions and
set up an appointment time and location so that Donovan and I can meet and get this process

motivation to participate in the evaluation process. Would you agree?... Show more content on

Women In Colonial Germantown
Both the Rebenstocks and Tibbens worked their bodies to exhaustion on their farms. Death stalked
them. In a world without antibiotics or hospitals, simple accidents, scrapes or colds could send
them to a grave. Their American dream disintegrated and forgotten to time. Even in the most
developed parts of Germantown, Pastorius described how people got disoriented in sections of
intact brush. The Tibbens bought virgin tracks of timber on the north side of Germantown. The
southern part of Germantown, or the front section, was an easier area to develop. Regardless, by
the spring of 1703, Henry sought permission from his neighbors to carve a path through the timber

Standardized tests are administered to allow reliable and valid comparisons to be made among
students taking the test. Two major types of standardized tests are currently in use; norm referenced
and criterion referenced. A norm referenced test is a test that has been given to representative
samples of students such that norms of performance are established. Each student taking the test
receives a score that can be compared to the normor normal or sample of students. The scores are

These tests use reasoning, analysis, problem solving, and what your previous knowledge of the
subject is. It measures the kinds of tasks that college students are expected to learn (http:/

The math part of the section contains 60 multiple choice questions within a 60 minute section. The

Ampicillin On Bacteria With Plasmid
The Effect of Ampicillin on Bacteria Treated with Plasmid
Abstract
This laboratory explored the effects plasmid has on the growth of bacteria in the presence of an
antibiotic. Four plates were tested: Luria agar +amp plasmid, Luria agar +amp +plasmid, Luria
agar amp plasmid, and Luria agar amp +plasmid. Only two of the plates were treated with plasmid
in order to determine the effect it had on the growth of bacteria. The bacteria treated with plasmid
was able to grow in the presence of an antibiotic while the bacteria not treated with the plasmid died
due to the lack of resistance to the antibiotic.

to the solution. If the plasmid was not mixed in fully, some bacteria may not have been exposed
to it, therefore dieting in the presence of ampicillin, which may have caused minor errors in our
results. Also, not returning the mixtures to ice quickly enough after doing the heat shock may
have caused some bacteria to not fully take in the plasmid. The heat shock is what allows for the
bacteria to take in the new piece of DNA because the cell membrane opens up allowing for the
plasmid to enter. In order to keep the new DNA inside the bacteria, it was crucial to quickly
place the bacteria back on ice following the heat shock because this allowed for the cell
membrane to close back up and seal the plasmid inside. In addition, while spreading the liquid on
the Luria agar plate, I accidentally pushed too hard and broke through the Luria agar. This caused
us to get a new plate and redo the past steps for that plate. Because of this, the timing wasn t kept

students to look with their eyes and observe, measure, and collect data. Students are meant to look

if you leave a child, then for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may
have] made or debt. And if a man or woman leaves neither ascendants nor descendants but has a
brother or a sister, then for each one of them is a sixth. But if they are more than two, they share
a third, after any bequest which was made or debt, as long as there is no detriment [caused].
[This is] an ordinance from Allah, and Allah is Knowing and Forbearing. They request from you

Essay Remember the Titans Rhetorical Analysis
Multicolored Dream In the movie Remember the Titans Coach Boone gives a speech on the
battle ground of Gettysburg. Coach Boone was hired and made head coach over the nominated
Hall of Fame Coach Yoast. Racial tensions were building between team members because their
school, T.C. Williams became integrated. His team of football players had a problem with open
prejudice and hostility between the black and white players. After a day of bad practice, Coach
Boone took his team out for a run in the middle of the night through the forest to deal with the
issue. When the players were finally given a chance to breathe they realized that they were at the
Civil War battle ground of Gettysburg. He utilizes his strong demeanor and gives a speech... Show

The strong imagery paints a picture of the battlefield and draws a connection between the past
and present leaving the football players with a feeling of loss. In the beginning of the movie,
Coach Boone had to build ethos for himself because of racial differences. Coach Boone, being of
African American descent, was hired over their current caucasian coach and this caused the
white football players to boycott the team until Coach Yoast became their assistant coach. Coach
Boone lead his team by example and his dedication to his craft. He showed the players that he
did not care about what color you wore on your skin, but of the sport that brought them together.
During his speech he states I don t care if you like each other or not. But you will respect each
other. And maybe, I don t know, maybe we ll learn to play this game like men (Boone). He uses
the built trust aspect of ethos very well to close this speech. Another aspect of ethos Coach
Boone used in his speech was borrowed credibility from Gettysburg. Towards the end of the
speech he told the boys to take a lesson from the dead (Boone) and realize that if they do not stop
these actions of hostility towards each other they will not be able to move forward as a team. The
Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement were turning points in American history and he used
facts about the battle to build his ethos. Racial differences were still strong during the 1970s and if

Nixon Watergate Scandal
When the Watergate Seven broke into the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the
Watergate Office Complex, none of them could have imagined the scandal which would soon
erupt. Following the initial break in on July 17, 1972, a cover up was initiated by the Nixon
administration to hide the fact that the burglary was ordered by Nixon s Committee to Re elect the
President (CREEP). After two years of investigations and trials, Nixon s cover up blew up and he
was indicated for obstruction of justice. In the end, Nixon chose to resign as president instead of
facing impeachment. Although the Nixon administration endeavored to cover up its involvement in
the Watergate burglary, political investigators were able to uncover the White House s

Appointed as a special prosecutor on May 18, 1973, Cox was able to receive logs of presidential
meetings and telephone conversations with aides which proved vital in creating subpoenas for
Nixon s tape recordings. As soon as Alexander Butterfield revealed the existence of the secret
tape recording system in the Oval Office, Cox demanded that Nixon release certain tapes for
evidence on July 23, 1973, (fordlibrarymuseum). After the release of the tapes was denied, Cox
immediately subpoenaed eight of the tapes and three other documents (Britannica;

Raskolnikov Suffering
One theme of Christianity is that redemption is achieved through suffering. Jesus himself believed
in the method and even told Saint Faustina that she could save more souls through prayer and
suffering than will a missionary through his teachings and sermons alone (Diary 1767). Evidently,
the idea of redemptive sufferingworked its way strongly into his novel Crime and Punishment. The
protagonist, Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, was an impoverished former student who lived in
St. Petersburg. Raskolnikov believed that he could make the world a better place by murdering a
crooked pawnbroker and taking her money to help the needy; Raskolnikov ends up murdering the
pawnbroker as well as her innocent sister. Through Raskolnikov and Katerina s journey to
redemption Dostoevsky is able to convey that redemption is possible but only through a great
amount of suffering. Directly after committing the murder, Raskolnikov... Show more content on

How Did The U.s. Expand Westward And What Was Its Impact...
PURPOSE 1
Question: How did the U.S. expand westward and what was its impact on Native Americans?
Answer: The United States began expanding westward during the 1800s. During the early 1800s,
America turned its attention towards the exploration and settlement of its Western territory. The
amount of land had been greatly increased by the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, which almost
doubled the size of the nation. Later on, the size of the United States increased yet again with the
Mexican Cession and the Gadsden Purchase. From these, the United States gained California,
Nevada, Utah, Texas, and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Settlers swept
westward, encouraged by the federal government. The government created the Homestead Act,
which offered 160 acres of cheap land in the West under the condition that the settlers had to work
the land for 5 years. As the Western territories became more and more developed, Native Americans
and their culture were slowly destroyed through laws such as the Indian Removal Act and the
Dawes Act. Native Americans were forced onto small reservations and their children were then
forcibly assimilated into white American culture in order to make room for the white settlers.
PURPOSE 2
Question: Why did nations desire to expand and gain power through imperialism?
Answer: There were many philosophies about the way that America should interact with other
countries. Some people felt that America should remain isolationist, avoiding

The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs....
There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many
different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the
college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a
professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want
to play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these
players will be noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely
different because you enter the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after
the draft. There are so many differences and similarities between the two. A difference between
the two are that in the NBA you can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get
only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting on the bench for the rest of the game without playing
but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the
NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The bonus for the NBA is when you get
fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term called One and one . It s where you
shoot one free throwand make it you get a chance at another, but if you miss the first shot you don t
get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketballresults in the double bonus where you will be
allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one.

In terms of organizational development, change occurs through deliberate efforts to improve the
organizational work climate and thus increasing individual productivity and organizational
performance (RaЕЈiu amp; BДѓban, 2012, 143). The HR advisor needs to work with the leadership
and managers to improve their leadership effectiveness and focus on customer service requirements
to professionally grow the organization.
Effective approach to organizational development An important approach in this situation is to
develop tasks that properly fit to each job. The information gathered from the interviews and
questionnaire is a helpful tool to achieve this objective. Having duty descriptions in place that
clarify employee s responsibilities will lessen the confusion of what is expected from them. In turn
employees will likely be more satisfied and are more motivated to achieve the organizational goal.
According to Diamantidis amp; Chatzoglou, 2011, there is a relation between job satisfaction and
firm performance (p. 1533). Improving job satisfaction will also improve the effectiveness these
employees have when representing the organization.
Different approaches to career development Career development in this case can be combined with
career opportunities. Employees who do not see the opportunity to advance in an organization are
likely to look for other jobs and do not remain in the organization for a long

The Medical And Dental Industry For 3d Printing
3D Printing is a unique kind of printing system, which takes a 3D image file and creates a
physical 3D image. As I mentioned before 3D files are generated from what is called a .stl file,
which is a compressed triangular meshed surface. These .stl files were originally intended for a
rapid prototyping process called Stereolithography, and in the beginning were generated by CAD
programs; however, because MRI and CT s are surface scans, they too can generate a .stl file.
These .stl files have become a world standard for exchanging 3D mesh type objects between
programs (McNeel, Sep. 2015, par. 3). Since MRI s and CT s can be scanned and converted into
stl files it has paved the way into many different aspects of the medical and dental industry for 3D
printing. When I say the medical and dental industry I am talking about many different avenues
within those industries.
Let us first take a look at the dental industry and the latest developments and how they will
impact our lives. Have you ever considered braces for fixing yours or your loved ones teeth?

they are using a plastic form called invisalign instead of metal. These are all created with 3D
Printing and they work just as well, and don t tear up one s gums like the railroad track braces. The
German based company EnvisionTEC has helped to innovate many premium 3D printing materials

The last thirty years in Latin America has been marked by the struggle of the indigenous peoples
from the Andes to the Amazon, Indigenous people have emerged as important political actors
calling attention to the exclusions that continue to mark the democracies in which they live. Since
the 1980s, indigenous peoples have demanded their right to political participation, pressuring nation

The Land Ethic Response
One of the penalties of an ecological education is that one lives alone in a world of wounds.
Much of the damage inflicted on land is quite invisible to laymen. An ecologist must either harden
his shell and make believe that the consequences of science are none of his business, or he must
be the doctor who sees the marks of death in a community that believes itself well and does not
want to be told otherwise, said by none other, Aldo Leopold. In A Sand County Almanac, Aldo
Leopold, an American environmentalist, brought a new idea to the environmentalist s table: land
ethic. His idea of a land ethic is a moral responsibility of humans to the natural Earth. Leopold s
idea has been discussed since the publication by a wide variety of people, from the public to
scholars. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coming from an uncultivated society, such as the one that brought farming and ranching to the
settlement of North America, humans have retained some sensitivity to environmental issues as
they derived their livelihood directly from the land. But with the advance to an urban or
metropolitan society, there has been a major disconnect between humanity and nature. Today s
urban society is provided with mowed parks, paved playgrounds, plush automobiles to move the
public around on asphalt roads, housing with automatically regulated heat and cooling, and
supermarkets with shopping carts and baskets, in which people can gather their food supplies
from orderly shelves and freezers. Aldo Leopold s land ethic term suggests that humans stop
treating the land as a mere object or a resource, like how the world does today. For Leopold, land
is not merely soil, like the public would think of today; land is a fountain of energy, flowing
through a circuit of soils, plants, and animals.

Corporate Charities The Right and Wrong Ways for Big Business to Give Back to the Community
Introduction
Why do people who have money feel inclined to give it away? Throughout history, reasons for
philanthropy have ranged from guilt to concern for personal image, from religious principles to
simple generosity. America is awash with corporateCEO s who have so much money that they
could never spend it in a lifetime. What is pocket change to them could save thousands of lives in a
third world country. And yet only some of them choose to give their money away. Even then some
of the ones who do are not charitable out of the goodness of their heart but do it purely to make

Wal Mart makes claims of giving to the community through its employment of workers and
supposed charitable foundations. At the homepage of Wal Mart s Good Works Foundation one
will notice a quotation claiming that Wal Mart is the largest employer of Hispanic Americans in
the United States. This may very well be true, but is not indicative of anything good or noteworthy
as will be come apparent in my discussion to follow. ...But are these employees treated well?
Some notable contributions Wal Mart has made to local communities include giving over $85
million in community grants to date, $206 million to local United Way chapters since 1983, more
than $293 million in 16 years for Children s Miracle Network (CMN), $80 million in scholarships
since 1979 and $1.8 million in environmental grants in the year of 2003. The scope of these charities
, however, has been limited to only those communities that have a Wal Mart store. The foundations
website even has a small disclaimer at the bottom saying that eligibility for funding from the
foundation requires that the program be in a Wal Mart community. So wherever there is a Wal
Mart store, there is philanthropy, but nowhere else. What is ironic about this is the fact that the
communities that are hurt most by the Wal Mart Corporation are those that have a Wal Mart store!
Ultimately all of Wal Mart s claims of philanthropy can really be

Most of the authors above conclude their findings with references to gender stereotypes. Still
others, represented in this review by Hayes and Samartseva, focus on and detail the way
stereotypes affect gender communication. Hayes states that stereotypes are the single most cause
of misunderstandings between the genders in the work place, especially larger organizations
where the work force doesn t have a chance to develop closer relationships (2004). Hayes argues
that when people are placed in a confrontation with an unknown person, or when that person s
mood and attitude is an unknown factor, people fall back subconsciously to their stereotyped
images in order to interpret both verbal and non verbal communication (2004). Samartseva
discusses how stereotypes are conceptual frameworks built from observable behaviors that act as a
way of predicting the world. However, she also points out that the development of stereotypes can
lead to situations in which self filling prophecies rule perceptions (2002).
This finding is also evidenced by studies of management styles in the workplace. Stewart and Van
der Lippe depict the varying ways in which men and women view their opposite gendered superior.
Stewart compares the preferred management style of male and females, stating that Women feel a
need to be involved with their subordinates while men believe that good

According to McConnell and Brue Economists group industries into four distinct market structures:
pure competition, pure monopoly, monopolistic competition, and oligopoly. These four market

a standardized product or try to differentiate their products from those of other firms, and how easy
or how difficult it is for firms to enter the industry (McConnell Brue, 2005, chap. 21). As part of the

Haemolytic Anemia Research Paper
In my opinion, based on signs and symptoms this patient suffers from hemolytic anemia,
characterized by reduction in the number of circulating red blood cells, caused by accelerated
destruction and removal of these cells from the bloodstream before their normal lifespan is over.
When blood cells die, bone marrowproduces more bloodcells to replace them, however, in HA, the
bone marrow does not make red blood cells fast enough to meet the body s needs. Many diseases,
conditions, and factors can cause the body to destroy its red blood cells. This type of anemia can
be inherited, where parents passed the gen to the child (hemoglobindefects, enzyme defects,

In Book 1, he defines the best and most sought after human good as happiness. After discussing
and reinforcing his concept of happiness as the most desired and best good, and the goal of a
human life, the discussion segues into an examination of virtue and the rest of the work.
Throughout this Book 1, the discussion digresses multiple times to explore the method by
which the topic will be examined. Realising that concepts such as happiness are subjective, he
establishes in the third Chapter that the fruits of the discussion will be satisfactory so long as it
holds true universally. He also considers in Chapter four whether the discussion should originate
from the principles, or from our experiences, and suggests that we should being from things
known and immediate to us, which seems to be a logical choice as the discussions as a whole
focus on what a man should do in order to act according to virtue in order to become good and
attain happiness. In addition, the sixth Chapter is devoted to criticism of the theory of Forms.
Since good can exist in so many different ways, but are undoubtedly good, Aristotle argues that
there is no common idea governing it. He also denies the existence of separate Forms that are
merely mimicked by what we perceive, since a thing and the Thing Itself has the same

Francisco PerГіn s Breaches
Without trade, he basically took away many of the potential buyers of their once flourishing export
commodities. Another of PerГіn s breaches of the ten principles of economics is governments can
sometimes improve market outcomes; when the government seized public lands along with price
and wage restrictions, these actions caused a tremendous imbalance of the invisible hand of
supply and demand in their markets. It is critical that a government enforces property rights, so
that a person can own and control scarce resources (Mankiw, 2015, p. 12). It is unfortunate that a
once powerful and economically stable country like Argentina lost its power and standard of living
due to misuse and frankly, abuse of socialized programs.

GDP is used to measure the market value of a country s goods and services over a specific time
period. The GDP is made up of four components: Consumption, investment, government purchases
and net exports (exports imports). There are a few portions of GDP directly related to socialism. The
first, and most obvious, is government purchases. In a socialist society, the government would
control much of a country s social services like welfare, social security, etc. These social services
would be paid for by collecting tax from peoples, products, and services within a country. Many
of the social services provided and paid for are not considered part of the GDP, instead they are
considered transfer payments, because social program payments are not made for a good or
service being produced by a country. From a macroeconomic viewpoint transfer payments are
like negative taxes to the GDP (Mankiw, 2015, p. 202); therefore, increasing the social services
within a country would reduce a country s GDP. Another issue to discuss regarding socialism is
state funded education. A teacher s salary is considered government expenses in the GDP;
however, the price of state funded education would be considered a social tax and therefore a
transfer payment. Although the initial cost of funding education may be a drain on the GDP, in the
long run the production gained from more people receiving post high school education would
hopefully counter any of the negative costs to GDP and actually be a gain from the increased
goods and

Louis Zamperini Analysis
Louis Zamp Zamperini was born January 26,1917 to two Italian immigrant parents in Olean,
New York. He would soon move to Torrance, California to grow to be a mischievous young boy,
a track and field superstar, and an American war hero. His story has inspired many around the
world from his humble beginnings, story of sacrifice, and dedication on the racetrack and in the
fight against the Axis powers. He is relatable, not in the fact of his being a prisoner of war and
Olympic athlete, but in the fact that everyone must eventually remain optimistic in his or her
struggles in order to overcome them, much like how he dealt with being a subject of war crimes
and a struggling alcoholic. To dissuade his habits of rebellion and petty crime, Zamperini... Show

Beginning as a small town runner, he rose to superstardom as a collegiate and Olympic athlete,
becoming one of the fastest and youngest competitors of his time, but, soon, he was a
malnourished prisoner of war, fighting for his life. He still persevered, despite all of the
hardships he faced, and he came out of the second world war and his PTSD related alcoholism as
a motivational speaker, showing things do always get better, as the maxim says. Louis
Zamperini is regarded as in inspiration for his resurgence as a being, growing from the state of a
dead body breathing (p. 135) to a Christian speaker, who forgave not only his captors, but the
source of all his fears: Mutshuiro The Bird

The Political Relationship Of The United States And South...
The Vietnam conflict was a ruthless and long war that had serious consequences for everyone
involved and would prove to be a shameful and infamous snapshot of American foreign policy at
work. This paper will highlight the geo political relationship of the United States and South
Vietnam, focusing on events taking place after the Geneva accords of 1954, in the attempts to
insure a non communist Vietnam.
The United States refused to sign the Geneva accords (because the U.S. refused any possibility of
communist control over Vietnam), but elections were to be held in 1956 to decide the ruling
government by popular vote. The U.S. government created SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty
Organization), a regional alliance that swore to protect South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos in the
event of Communist rule. SEATO quickly came into full force and became the exact mechanism
Washington used to justify its support of South Vietnam. This support of course even became the
direct involvement of U.S. troops in Vietnam. In 1955, the U.S. picked Ngo Dinh Diemto replace
Bao Dai as the head of the regime in South Vietnam. In a move to consolidate the power, Prime
Minister Diem called for a referendum between Emperor Bao Dai and himself. In a very banana
republic esque way, Diem won that referendum by over 98% of the vote (although a questionable
legitimacy to say the least). With help, guidance and U.S. encouragement, Diem refused
participation in the Geneva planned elections that Ho Chi Minh

High Flow Oxygen Therapy
The project aim was to propose the adaptation of a humidification device to offer comfort to
patients who are on high flow oxygen therapy; and to provide in service trainings to clinical staff.
Fisher Paykel humidifiers were chosen in the proposal as the company provides excellent support
for staff; and my past experience has assured me that the equipment is reliable and simple to use for
nurses.
As a clinical facilitator, I provide learning opportunities to staff and nursing students at St Vincent s
Private Hospital Brisbane (SVPHB). Not long after I joined St Vincent s, I encountered a patient
who was receiving high flow oxygen (7 litres/min) via high flow nasal prongs without any
humidification device running with it. The scene surprised me. Supplemental oxygen is ... Show

It has given me the opportunity to reflect on my thoughts, feelings, and expectations in relations to
the process and its outcome; and identified the key areas of focus to improve for future quality
improvement attempts.
Despite the challenges, this facilitating experice has instilled me a degree of appreciation of
many staff who work hard behind the scene to ahcieve the common goal of providing the best care
possible to patients within the scarce resources. It was possible to see how good working
relationship with other disciplines can improve overall efficiency.
When I re examined the entire process of oxygen humidification project, I consequently realised the
importance of cooperation with other disciplines to increase the latent influence in employing
oxygen humidification. It would have made the considerable difference to have the managerial
backing of the project to smooth out key barriers of the project.
During the implementation stage, I explained to many staff about the details and possible
applications of the equipment. This has enhanced my presentation skills greatly when delivering

The Steam Engine
As of the present, technology advances exponentially as compared to three hundred years ago.
Consequently, the question asked is how this rapid method of advancement in technology and
science came about. It definitely did commence slowly. Most of the protracted infringement to
scientific and technological progress was due to theological beliefs and political incompetents. It
was only after the Protestant Reformation that significant progress was finally attained; it still
progressed slowly. Many individuals would conclude that the defining moments were when Isaac
Newton and Gottfried Leibniz made important contributions to the field of mathematics through
discoveries in Calculus. Although this played significant roles in the scientific... Show more content

This new ability drastically changed everything. Classical economical ideals came to the fore
when the prices of raw materials such as cotton went down and productivity went up. According
to Spielvogel, the amount of cotton imported into Britain in 1760 was two and a half million
pounds but by 1787, the rate had increased approximately nine fold, and by 1840, one hundred
and fifty fold. This machine enhanced the free trade ideals of laissez faire economics, made the
factory as an institution, created the idea of worker unions, led child labor laws, and the ideology
of Marxism. The creation of a better means of transportation other than the horse was now available.
In 1804, a British mining engineer, Richard Trevithick (1771 1833), built the first steam powered
locomotive that hauled seventy individuals and ten tons of ore at five miles per hour. Improving
on Trevithick s machine, George Stevenson built a better locomotive, known as the rocket , that
could move six cars of coal and twenty one passenger coaches at faster speed in 1830. In addition,
steam powered ships would gradually replace sail ships. To elaborate further on the steam engine
effects, the epitome of its social impact can be seen during the Industrial Revolution. People of this
generation preceding the steam engine were

Forensic Serologist Essay
The Forensic serologist
The forensic serologist studies body fluids such as semen, saliva and blood mainly for identification
purposes.
Roles:
пѓ Establishing type and characteristic of blood.
пѓ Blood testing.
пѓ Examination of bloodstains.
пѓ DNA typing.
пѓ Preparation of court testimony and evidence.
BLOOD EVIDENCE
Blood is the most well known and significant evidence in the modern criminal justice system. Blood
evidence is important to the forensic investigator because:
пѓ It can link a victim to a suspect (Locard s exchange principle).
пѓ Bloodstain patterns can reveal a great deal about position and movement during a crime.
пѓ It has managed to destroy self defense arguments of suspects.

rhombic or prismatic in shape, dark brown in color, and about 10mm in size. The age of the
bloodstain does not affect the formation of hematin crystals. Tweleve year old stains have given a
positive Teichmann. Bloodstains over 20 years old were also reported positive with this test.
Teichmann crystals may not form with stains from materials such as leather.

2)Takayama test(Haemachromogen crystal test): The takayama test is a confirmatory test. It is far
less sensitive then luminol and phenolphthalein. An analyst would mix a chemical with the
unknown sample. The analyst would then await and check the sample under a microscope. If the
small characteristically shaped crystals form in the sample, it is blood. If the crystals do not form
then the test has failed to indicate blood. The analyst would need sufficient sample to accurately
use this test. It is beyond the capability of the test to prove that a substance or a sample is not

National Health Care For The United States According to Cothran (2015), Over the past five decades, there have been major shifts in how we pay for hospital care, physician services, long term care, prescription drugs, and other services and products . Before Medicare and Medicaid, about half of hospital care was not covered by insurance. About 100 % of the spending on prescription medications came from the customers in the 1960s (Cothran, 2015). But, in 2014, customers spent 15% less. Team B will explain our position on national health care spending in the United States. The pharmaceutical industry is yet another part of health care that is receiving immense profits from its advertisements and a physician prescribing only certain medications. The truth is that some of the medicines can cause more harm than good. So who s really profiting? Truth is, that the physicians and pharmaceutical companies are benefiting; when the doctor prescribes medications that causes more issues than it cures, a revolving door is created so that the physicians and pharmaceutical companies can keep gaining profits. For instance, if a patient receives medicine to treat an ailment and it creates more health issues then the doctor will now keep prescribing medications to fix an issue, when it is actually making the patient worse. By creating a need the companies are able to keep themselves afloat. The federal budget was 3.8 trillion for the 2015 fiscal year. The government to take care of each and every American divides the 3.8 trillion; this comes to about 12,000 per American ( National Priorities Project , 2015). Over 90% of federal monies are used for mandatory and discretionary spending. The rest is spent on interest that the government has accumulated. 1.11 trillion is the equivalent of what was spent in discretionary spending in 2015. About 60% was spent on military and government, 6% on education, the rest was divided almost equally 5% or less on: veteran s benefits, food and agriculture, transportation, science, environment, housing and ... • 6. Ethical Issues on the Treatment of Animals Essay Animals have always played an essential role in many aspects of this world. Some people look upon these roles with favoritism, some with disgust. Animals are considered different from humans by some people because of their behavior, mannerisms or actions. Some animals are used as food by humans and other animals, while others are trapped for their furs. Many times people acquire animals for pets, only to neglect or mistreat them. For many years, the ethical treatment of animals has been a very controversial topic for moral discussion, often in reference to an ethical code or rule. From a religious aspect, God also puts the fear of man into the animals and again animals are used to fill the needs of men (Genesis 9:1). A virtual ethicist s perspective is fairly simple to relate to. Our text book clarifies that virtue ethics promotes a particular kind of person a virtuous or noble person who provides a role model for those who wishes to be moral (Mosser, 2011). Therefore, relationship with animals, from a virtue ethicist s standpoint, would support virtuous or moral values. As a virtuous person, a choice could be to abstain from eating animals and from wearing fur or, perhaps, keeping a low environmental impact lifestyle. An advantage of virtue ethics is that it brings in all the qualities of being human such as reason, responsibility and emotion to influence a person s ethical consideration. This can be applied in situations where a person asks what sort of person he or she should be. However, our text book clarifies that determining what the specific virtues are, and what the appropriate balance among those virtues should be, can be difficult (Mosser, 2011). Are people s statements about animal rights meaningful? As an example, a virtuous person may be of the opinion that everyone should be compassionate to all creatures and not cause suffering; thus you should not eat animals. This is an evaluation about a situation, more specifically, a moral judgment. Emotivism, in contrast to virtue ethics, is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, not returning the mixtures to ice quickly enough after doing the heat shock may have caused some bacteria to not fully take in the plasmid. The heat shock is what allows for the bacteria to take in the new piece of DNA because the cell membrane opens up allowing for the plasmid to enter. In order to keep the new DNA inside the bacteria, it was crucial to quickly place the bacteria back on ice following the heat shock because this allowed for the cell membrane to close back up and seal the plasmid inside. In addition, while spreading the liquid on the Luria agar plate, I accidentally pushed too hard and broke through the Luria agar. AIMS AND QUESTIONS The question of this research is how women experienced and governed by Indonesian Islamic Inheritance Law, especially on the term Kalalah where the absence of male children became a significant issue. This issue was derived from the different interpretation on Al Qur an 4:12 and 4:176 : And for you is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. But if they have a child, for you is one fourth of what they leave, after any bequest they [may have] made or debt. And for the wives is one fourth if you leave no child. But if you leave a child, then for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt. And if a man or woman leaves neither ascendants nor descendants but has a brother or a sister, then for each one of them is a sixth. But if they are more than two, they share a third, after any bequest which was made or debt, as long as there is no detriment [caused]. [This is] an ordinance from Allah, and Allah is Knowing and Forbearing. They request from you a [legal] ruling. Say, Allah gives you a ruling concerning one having neither descendants nor ascendants [as heirs]. If a man dies, leaving no child but [only] a sister, she will have half of what he left. Facts A year ago, CTI signed a contract for farm machinery, worth $25 million, with Papua New Guinea(PNG). Recently, however, when I was conducting the annual internal audit, I have discovered some issues associated with this signed contract. As soon as I found something wrong with the contract s accounting records I communicated with George but his answer has not addressed my confusion. Soon after that I had a chat with my boss Gareth because it was my duty to identify and reveal any detailed information related to CTI s financial records. after the conversation with both of them, I decided to dig it further. Coach Boone was hired and made head coach over the nominated Hall of Fame Coach Yoast. Racial tensions were building between team members because their school, T.C. Williams became integrated. His team of football players had a problem with open prejudice and hostility between the black and white players. After a day of bad practice, Coach Boone took his team out for a run in the middle of the night through the forest to deal with the issue. When the players were finally given a chance to breathe they realized that they were at the Civil War battle ground of Gettysburg. He utilizes his strong demeanor and gives a speech... The strong imagery paints a picture of the battlefield and draws a connection between the past and present leaving the football players with a feeling of loss. In the beginning of the movie, Coach Boone had to build ethos for himself because of racial differences. Coach Boone, being of African American descent, was hired over their current caucasian coach and this caused the white football players to boycott the team until Coach Yoast became their assistant coach. Coach Boone lead his team by example and his dedication to his craft. He showed the players that he did not care about what color you wore on your skin, but of the sport that brought them together. During his speech he states I don t care if you like each other or not. But you will respect each other. And maybe, I don t know, maybe we ll learn to play this game like men (Boone). He uses the built trust aspect of ethos very well to close this speech. Another aspect of ethos Coach Boone used in his speech was borrowed credibility from Gettysburg. Towards the end of the speech he told the boys to take a lesson from the dead (Boone) and realize that if they do not stop these actions of hostility towards each other they will not be able to move forward as a team. The Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement were turning points in American history and he used facts about the battle to build his ethos. Jesus himself believed in the method and even told Saint Faustina that she could save more souls through prayer and suffering than will a missionary through his teachings and sermons alone (Diary 1767). Evidently, the idea of redemptive sufferingworked its way strongly into his novel Crime and Punishment. The protagonist, Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, was an impoverished former student who lived in St. Petersburg. Raskolnikov believed that he could make the world a better place by murdering a crooked pawnbroker and taking her money to help the needy; Raskolnikov ends up murdering the pawnbroker as well as her innocent sister. • 24. How Did The U.s. Expand Westward And What Was Its Impact... PURPOSE 1 Question: How did the U.S. expand westward and what was its impact on Native Americans? Answer: The United States began expanding westward during the 1800s. During the early 1800s, America turned its attention towards the exploration and settlement of its Western territory. The amount of land had been greatly increased by the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, which almost doubled the size of the nation. Later on, the size of the United States increased yet again with the Mexican Cession and the Gadsden Purchase. From these, the United States gained California, Nevada, Utah, Texas, and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Settlers swept westward, encouraged by the federal government. The government created the Homestead Act, which offered 160 acres of cheap land in the West under the condition that the settlers had to work the land for 5 years. As the Western territories became more and more developed, Native Americans and their culture were slowly destroyed through laws such as the Indian Removal Act and the Dawes Act. Native Americans were forced onto small reservations and their children were then forcibly assimilated into white American culture in order to make room for the white settlers. PURPOSE 2 Question: Why did nations desire to expand and gain power through imperialism? Answer: There were many philosophies about the way that America should interact with other countries. There are many different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will be noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you enter the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term called One and one . It s where you shoot one free throwand make it you get a chance at another, but if you miss the first shot you don t get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketballresults in the double bonus where you will be allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I mentioned before 3D files are generated from what is called a .stl file, which is a compressed triangular meshed surface. These .stl files were originally intended for a rapid prototyping process called Stereolithography, and in the beginning were generated by CAD programs; however, because MRI and CT s are surface scans, they too can generate a .stl file. These .stl files have become a world standard for exchanging 3D mesh type objects between programs (McNeel, Sep. 2015, par. 3). Since MRI s and CT s can be scanned and converted into stl files it has paved the way into many different aspects of the medical and dental industry for 3D printing. Much of the damage inflicted on land is quite invisible to laymen. An ecologist must either harden his shell and make believe that the consequences of science are none of his business, or he must be the doctor who sees the marks of death in a community that believes itself well and does not want to be told otherwise, said by none other, Aldo Leopold. In A Sand County Almanac, Aldo Leopold, an American environmentalist, brought a new idea to the environmentalist s table: land ethic. Today s urban society is provided with mowed parks, paved playgrounds, plush automobiles to move the public around on asphalt roads, housing with automatically regulated heat and cooling, and supermarkets with shopping carts and baskets, in which people can gather their food supplies from orderly shelves and freezers. Aldo Leopold s land ethic term suggests that humans stop treating the land as a mere object or a resource, like how the world does today. Hayes states that stereotypes are the single most cause of misunderstandings between the genders in the work place, especially larger organizations where the work force doesn t have a chance to develop closer relationships (2004). Hayes argues that when people are placed in a confrontation with an unknown person, or when that person s mood and attitude is an unknown factor, people fall back subconsciously to their stereotyped images in order to interpret both verbal and non verbal communication (2004). Samartseva discusses how stereotypes are conceptual frameworks built from observable behaviors that act as a way of predicting the world. • 38. Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics Essay example In Book 1 of Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics, he argues that happiness is the best good, and the goal of an individual and of those leading and governing society. Here, happiness is understood as both living well and doing well, rather than the convention sense of happiness as an emotion. According to Aristotle, happiness is achieved though actions involving reason and in accord with virtue, or the best of the virtues of there are more than one. In this paper, I will provide a brief overview of the work and its author, then proceed to provide an overview of the ideas expressed and the argumentation supporting them, before finally performing an analysis and critique of the ideas expressed. After discussing and reinforcing his concept of happiness as the most desired and best good, and the goal of a human life, the discussion segues into an examination of virtue and the rest of the work. Throughout this Book 1, the discussion digresses multiple times to explore the method by which the topic will be examined. Realising that concepts such as happiness are subjective, he establishes in the third Chapter that the fruits of the discussion will be satisfactory so long as it holds true universally. He also considers in Chapter four whether the discussion should originate from the principles, or from our experiences, and suggests that we should being from things known and immediate to us, which seems to be a logical choice as the discussions as a whole focus on what a man should do in order to act according to virtue in order to become good and attain happiness. In addition, the sixth Chapter is devoted to criticism of the theory of Forms. Since good can exist in so many different ways, but are undoubtedly good, Aristotle argues that there is no common idea governing it. He also denies the existence of separate Forms that are merely mimicked by what we perceive, since a thing and the Thing Itself has the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Francisco PerГіn s Breaches Without trade, he basically took away many of the potential buyers of their once flourishing export commodities. Another of PerГіn s breaches of the ten principles of economics is governments can sometimes improve market outcomes; when the government seized public lands along with price and wage restrictions, these actions caused a tremendous imbalance of the invisible hand of supply and demand in their markets. It is critical that a government enforces property rights, so that a person can own and control scarce resources (Mankiw, 2015, p. 12). It is unfortunate that a once powerful and economically stable country like Argentina lost its power and standard of living due to misuse and frankly, abuse of socialized programs. Denmark and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... GDP is used to measure the market value of a country s goods and services over a specific time period. The GDP is made up of four components: Consumption, investment, government purchases and net exports (exports imports). There are a few portions of GDP directly related to socialism. The first, and most obvious, is government purchases. In a socialist society, the government would control much of a country s social services like welfare, social security, etc. These social services would be paid for by collecting tax from peoples, products, and services within a country. Many of the social services provided and paid for are not considered part of the GDP, instead they are considered transfer payments, because social program payments are not made for a good or service being produced by a country. From a macroeconomic viewpoint transfer payments are like negative taxes to the GDP (Mankiw, 2015, p. 202); therefore, increasing the social services within a country would reduce a country s GDP. Another issue to discuss regarding socialism is state funded education. A teacher s salary is considered government expenses in the GDP; however, the price of state funded education would be considered a social tax and therefore a transfer payment. Although the initial cost of funding education may be a drain on the GDP, in the long run the production gained from more people receiving post high school education would hopefully counter any of the negative costs to GDP and actually be a gain from the increased goods and ... He would soon move to Torrance, California to grow to be a mischievous young boy, a track and field superstar, and an American war hero. His story has inspired many around the world from his humble beginnings, story of sacrifice, and dedication on the racetrack and in the fight against the Axis powers. He is relatable, not in the fact of his being a prisoner of war and Olympic athlete, but in the fact that everyone must eventually remain optimistic in his or her struggles in order to overcome them, much like how he dealt with being a subject of war crimes and a struggling alcoholic. • 41. The Political Relationship Of The United States And South... The Vietnam conflict was a ruthless and long war that had serious consequences for everyone involved and would prove to be a shameful and infamous snapshot of American foreign policy at work. This paper will highlight the geo political relationship of the United States and South Vietnam, focusing on events taking place after the Geneva accords of 1954, in the attempts to insure a non communist Vietnam. The United States refused to sign the Geneva accords (because the U.S. refused any possibility of communist control over Vietnam), but elections were to be held in 1956 to decide the ruling government by popular vote. The U.S. government created SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization), a regional alliance that swore to protect South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos in the event of Communist rule. SEATO quickly came into full force and became the exact mechanism Washington used to justify its support of South Vietnam. This support of course even became the direct involvement of U.S. troops in Vietnam. In 1955, the U.S. picked Ngo Dinh Diemto replace Bao Dai as the head of the regime in South Vietnam. In a move to consolidate the power, Prime Minister Diem called for a referendum between Emperor Bao Dai and himself. In a very banana republic esque way, Diem won that referendum by over 98% of the vote (although a questionable legitimacy to say the least). With help, guidance and U.S. encouragement, Diem refused participation in the Geneva planned elections that Ho Chi Minh ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Steam Engine As of the present, technology advances exponentially as compared to three hundred years ago. Consequently, the question asked is how this rapid method of advancement in technology and science came about. It definitely did commence slowly. Most of the protracted infringement to scientific and technological progress was due to theological beliefs and political incompetents. It was only after the Protestant Reformation that significant progress was finally attained; it still progressed slowly. Many individuals would conclude that the defining moments were when Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz made important contributions to the field of mathematics through discoveries in Calculus. In 1804, a British mining engineer, Richard Trevithick (1771 1833), built the first steam powered locomotive that hauled seventy individuals and ten tons of ore at five miles per hour. Improving on Trevithick s machine, George Stevenson built a better locomotive, known as the rocket , that could move six cars of coal and twenty one passenger coaches at faster speed in 1830.
