Another advantage would be its role in limiting the increase of global warming. The growing demand
of clean and renewable energy around the globe has heated up competition for wind turbine
generators, which can be witnessed in the coming years (Barad, 2012).
In this following assignment, we will be developing monitoring systems for Suzlon Energy India. The
assignment is focused on an efficient development of a monitoring system.
2. Sustainability Monitoring and Reporting System
Sustainability monitoring system is used to implement and measure sustainable performance.
Reporting is a good practice for measuring and accounting performance, of the organization towards
the sustainable development and its goal (Roth, 2010).
Triple Bottom Line method is used to achieve sustainability monitoring and reporting. They consider
social, environmental and economic performances. The method also allows us to think about the
corporate social responsibilities (CSR). TBL can be used for challenges that can occur in the future
and and they can also find new opportunities. It is provides great value for the organization, Therefore
it should be integrated in business for its day to day operations (Triple Bottom Line Reporting in
Australia, 2003).
The Triple Bottom Line is,
Social: is what the organization does for the labor and community or the region in which the
organization conducts the business.

The Presidential Election Picture For Running Mate
As the dates for both the Democrat and Republican National Conventions draw nearer, the 2016
Presidential election picture is starting to become more defined. With Bernie Sanders chances
approaching a mathematic improbability, Hilary Clinton s road to the Democrat nomination is all but
clear. Although the Republican nominee is not as obvious, the field has at least been narrowed down
from seventeen possible candidates to two, the Twitter loving Donald Trump and the optimistic Ted
Cruz. Unfortunately, there is an important variable missing from all of these campaigns, the potential
candidate s choice for running mate. Many times, the Nation throws on their blinders and ignores the
impact of this decision as though there will not be any repercussion if an unsuitable running mate is
chosen. This is evidenced every time a voter casts a ballet in the primaries for a particular candidate
oblivious of who their counterpart will be. What is the purpose of postponing this important decision
until primary elections are almost complete? Shouldn t the announcement of the individual s intent to
run for President include the announcement of the vice presidential candidate as well? Although the
office of vice president is erroneously considered irrelevant or insignificant, the unbiased truth is that
twenty percent of past presidents were former vice presidents who assumed office upon the death or
resignation of their predecessor. This historical evidence emphasizes how important it

The Rise Of Great Nations
The rise of great nations is a result of its citizens coming together to consider the all the possibilities to
improve the state of the country and then enacting the best ones. In democracy, all people s voices are
respected and heard but not all are logical and some are controversial. One election in America which
metaphorically caused a civil war was the election between Donald J. Trump and Hilary Clinton. Both
sides actively condemned the other with negative images of their opponent and a positive almost
godlike image of their preferred choice. At times it appeared as if Clinton represented a traditional and
logical way of thinking whilst Trump bragged about how idiosyncratic his alternative logic is.
Indisputably, the opponent which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for wealth, it is imperative that the commander in chief improve the state of the economy by
raising the Gross Domestic Product. For this category, all future presidents should enforce actions that
allow the nation s GDP to be akin to that of former president John F. Kennedy. Under his
administration, GDP growth was the highest it ever has been; at 5.5% (Soergel). Regarding the
concept of happiness, I believe that as far as the country is not fighting a war and racial tensions are
low, then the atmosphere of this country can be gleeful. In contrast to former presidents Obama and
Kennedy, Trump has a unique and illogical way of pursuing these qualifications. Our current president
is renowned for bypassing the basic tenets of logic, creating his own in the process, and have half of
the nation under his spell. There are a myriad of policies that President Donald Trump intends to
implement that beat common sense, but of all, the biggest are regarding health care, domestic jobs,
immigration, and Muslims. Concerning health care reform, President Trump intends to repeal and
replace every aspect of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that former President
Barack Obama signed into law. At first glance, there should not be a tremendous amount of
controversy revolving around this topic if the current adversities of Obamacare were replaced with
something that is clear and transparent. However, President Trump s plan is irrational because

Thoreacic Aortic Aneurysm Research Paper
Imagine a main water pipe, one that supplies a major city and all outlying communities with their
main water supply; suddenly that pipe bursts and floods the entire area and all cities. The devastation
is felt for miles away. This is what happens when a Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm occurs in a patient. The
Cleveland Clinic states that thoracic aortic aneurysms affect more than 15,000 people in the United
States, every year. From those 15,000 only about twenty to thirty percent of patients, who made it to
the hospital, survive from the aneurysm. That is only 3000 to 4500 people; the others will usually need

Personality Traits Of The Big Five
As we all know, humans come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. A big part of being an adult is
entering the work field and finding a career. That s where the Big five personality traits come in. The
five traits that most employers base their tests off of are; neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, and openness to experience. So the next time you take a pretest for employment
would these would be good to keep in mind. Especially when determining if you re a good fit for that
position. As stated earlier, the big five personality traits are neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, and openness to experience (sevencounties.org). There are other personalities that
we as people have. It s a way to express ourselves and communicate with others. But the big five was
picked to help focus in on a successful work environment. Neuroticism is how easily the person will
experience unpleasant emotions, such as depression, anger, and anxiety (sevencounties.org). This will
measure how the person will be able to handle uncomfortable situations involved with these emotions.
In the workplace we don t only have to deal with consumers, we also have to deal with our fellow
coworkers. This will help prepare someone for the workplace. The next personality is extroversion.
Extroversion describes how much energy one would have and if they would be able to interact with
others (sevencountries.org). Communication is a very import life

U.s. Nsa Program On Surveillance
Over the last several years, cyber attacks have been continually rising. This is in response to emerging
threats from rogue nations and terrorist groups. They are increasing their attacks on government,
military and civilian installations. According to James Clapper (the Director of National Intelligence)
these threats have become so severe. It is surpassing terrorism as the greatest challenge facing the
nation. In response, the National Security Agency (NSA) began conducting surveillance on those who
are involved in these activities and others which are threat to US national security interests. This
program became so broad; it started continually collecting phone records and emails on ordinary
Americans. This angered many, who felt that the US was acting in a way that circumvented
established legal guidelines and procedures. To fully understand what is taking place requires focusing
on the event, the government s response and the ways it did / did not meet our national security goals.
Together, these different elements will illustrate what occurred and the lasting impacts on everyone.
(Greenwald 2014) The NSA program on surveillance began in 2001. This is when Congress
authorized government officials to listen in on the phone calls and emails of those individuals
suspected of engaging in terrorist activities (via the USA Patriot Act). It is designed to ensure that the
intelligence community and law enforcement have the tools they need to track / monitor those

Kermode bears today are very rare to find. Human Beings are going out to find a Kermode bear you
will probably not find one. However, these bears are really rare off the coast of the Princess Royal and
Gribbell island. Nearly 100 black, white bears exist on this big and beautiful world. This type of bears
are nearly extinct, Because people try to hunt the extinct animals. Black white bears have a rare
double recessive gene in it s body. This is how people have the white and black fur. When 2 parents
have the same recessive gene the result is white fur for their young. A lot people think that these bears
are Polar Bears or even Albino s, but they are just Kermode Bears. Twenty percent of the bears on the

bear was found in 2004 300 miles northwest of Beausejour near Cedar Lake, Manitoba. This cub was
named Maskwa, also it also carried the same genetics that black, white bears have to this day. So to
this day there are less than 100 Kermode bears alive and wealthy on this humble earth. Scientist have
also figured out many reasons why Kermode bears are dying out, is because they use them for fur and

The Industrial Revolution and Imperialism Essay
The concept of imperialism is one that has pervaded nearly every major society or empire throughout
human history. It seems to be a natural consequence of societies growing in size, power, and
knowledge. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries vast changes occurred in Western Europe (and
soon spread elsewhere) that spurred a new round of imperialism the likes of which had not been seen
before. The changes were the industrial revolution that was taking place. Countries were rapidly
advancing to industrial societies producing much greater quantities of goods at much lower costs. The
goods produced ranged everywhere from cotton textiles to military machinery, all of which would
play important roles in rounds of imperialistic expansion that ... Show more content on

An example of this situation occurred involving Britain and India where British merchants exported
great quantities of cotton to England where it would be refined and made into end products for export.
This same situation arose with nearly every other natural resource one could imagine. The world is
abundant with natural resources all from different regions, and European nations saw it as their
opportunity for the taking. Another very important result of the industrial revolution was the
advancement of European weaponry. It was mentioned in a previous module for this course how
something of an arms race began in Western Europe as the societies were separating into different
empires and nations. That would continue with European weapons advancing far beyond what any
other societies could match, there is even the example of a small number of British soldiers defeating
thousands of African soldiers in a matter of hours due to the invention of the maxim gun. The
evolution of European weaponry played several important roles in relation to imperialism. European
weaponry first and foremost made it possible for those nations to dominate indigenous people to
submit to their will in terms of trade. It even opened up new regions such as Japan that had previously
only allowed very minor outside trade. With steamboats that could navigate upstream British soldiers
were able to traverse up the Yangtze River and

Psychoactive Drugs Alter Consciousness Essay
Awareness of your body as well as the environment is known as consciousness. Psychoactive drugs
alters your consciousness by affecting your perceptions, sensation, attention, judgment, memory, self
control, emotions, thinking, and behaviors. Three psychoactive drugs are depressants, stimulates, and
hallucinogens. Depressants lower your body s basic activities functions and neural activities.
Stimulates intensify neural activities and the central nervous system. Lastly hallucinogens are
sensations that are not really there. Depressants depress activity in the central nervous system.
Depressants lowers your body basic functions as well as your neural activities. Alcohol a conscious
altering drug slows down neural processing, disturbs REM sleep which is one of the five stages of
sleep. Alcohol also lowers your heart rate, reaction time, as well as your ability to form memories.

Hallucinogens alters moods and distorts perception, and thoughts. Ecstasy is a stimulate as well a
hallucinogen. Ecstasy increases dopamine and serotonin. It creates a sense of euphoria, increases

has an damaging impact on serotonin neurotransmitters. It also changes your perception and sensation.
When using psychoactive drugs there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Such as addiction which is
explained as physiological dependence. Your body can adjust to the amount of the drug you are taking
which can cause your body to crave more which is you tolerance. Trying to refrain from using any
drug you will experience withdrawal which is when your body s need for a drug. When you go
through withdrawal you have symptoms like headaches, fatigue, sweating, hallucinations, restlessness,

Saving The Economy
The Field Guide to Saving the U.S. Economy
Throughout the majority of history, currency has had to either be equal to or greater than the value of
what it was purchasing. This seems like a simple concept, but within the last fifty years this concept
has gone out the window. Today, we all agree that pieces of paper hold value that they do not have,
make coins that are not worth their value to produce, and act like it is sustainable. If we, as citizens of
not only our nations but of the world, do not alter our course, there will be a massive failure of our
system. No country is more pivotal in saving the world s economy than the United States. The U.S.

My Grandparents Speech
Many people only have the privilege of seeing their grandparents on birthdays and other holidays.
Luckily for me, I see mine almost every week. My grandparents, specifically my mom s parents, have
both played a large role in shaping me into the person I am today. My grandpa, or Pa , especially, has
been more of a father to me than my own. He has held an essential role in my life, and is continually
shaping me each day. My grandpa is a strong willed and old fashioned man. He likes to do things his
way. In addition, he always works hard and provides for his family. Throughout the course of my
rather short life, my grandpa has taught me many lessons. Here are three stories that stick out to me
the most. They taught me to be adventurous, to work hard, and to get back up after failure. The whole
family was there, as my grandpa decided to make a big purchase. He was buying a 2005 Chevy SSR
convertible, and five year old me was ecstatic. After a long night of waiting for all the details to be
worked out, the car was his. Me, being the bratty kid I was, jumped in and said, I get the first ride! On
my first ride, I remember the roar of the engine. That sounds like kitties purring. I said. My grandpa
laughed and said, You are right. Those are kitties! I exclaimed, Well then make those kitties purr! He
laughed and revved the engine as I stuck my hands out into the wind, laughing and yelling as I did so.
The fun continued as we continued to laugh and yelled, Faster!

Lyme Disease Analysis
Lyme disease or Lyme Borreliosis is a vector borne disease that is caused by spirochaete Borrelia
burgdorferi bacteria (WHO, 2016). These bacteria are transmitted through the bites of infected deer
ticks (WHO, 2016). Symptoms of the disease include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, muscle and joint
pain (WHO, 2016). Often a rash appears at the site of the tick bite and may gradually expand to a ring
around the bite. Lyme disease was first observed in the State of Connecticut in 1975. Currently, the
disease may be found in forested areas of Asia, Europe and the United States. In these areas deer ticks
feed on mice and rodents, which serve as a reservoir for this bacteria (MayoClinic.org, 2015). Then in
adult hood deer ticks feed on white tailed and other targets of opportunity. Individuals who ... Show

Unfortunately, for individuals in the developing world resources are lacking. It is individuals in these
situations that are extremely vulnerable to potential exposure. Climate change is also impacting
disease transmission. Large environmental areas are shrinking due to urban sprawl which is leading to
increased populations density s, increased pathogen load, decreased distributions, and a greater
prevalence of disease (Mills, Gage, Khan, 2010). Thus, larger numbers of individuals are living in
close proximity of disease vectors. In this paper I have discussed the vector borne disease of Lyme
disease, and the zoonotic disease of Rabies. Both of these diseases are preventable and treatable but
they do present public health hazards. Climate change is adversely impacting environments and
humans are now living closer than ever to the boundaries of these diseases. In fact, in greater densely
populated areas more and more individuals are coming into contact with such diseases. Prevention

can standardize degenerate conduct with balance methods. Understudies kill their degenerate duping
conduct by the possibility that depending on the circumstance their standards and principles
controlling conduct to act freak can be legitimized. They likewise utilize the five methods of balance
called disavowal of responsibility, judgment of condemners, appeal to higher loyalties, foreswearing
of harm, and refusal of casualty. These help concoct rationalization or contend that there are special
conditions that exist, which make them confer freak conduct. A standout amongst the regularly
balances utilized by miscreants was dissent of responsibility , which includes the wrongdoer to

the balance, appeal to higher loyalties includes giving up responsibility and good commitments for
peer groups or expectations of others. The dependability to people makes them help companions to
cheat with a specific end goal to not double cross their relationship. For example, I was mentoring this
young lady yet she just couldn t comprehend the material... I felt I needed to help her on the test.

Essay about The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V
The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V
Foremost among the characters William Shakespeare develops in his series of historical plays is,
undoubtedly, the character of Henry V. Henry, also at times referred to as Harry or Hal, develops
through the course of four plays: Richard II, I Henry IV, II Henry IV, and Henry V. From the brief
mention of Henry in Richard II to the full focus upon him in Henry V, a dramatic change clearly takes
place: the playful carousing youth portrayed in the first play develops into a King and conqueror by
the conclusion of the final play. In order to truly examine his development however, one must examine
the growth and eventual fusion of two undeniable separate characters: the prince Henry, and the youth
Hal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In I Henry IV, when we finally meet Hal, the image presented in Richard II becomes conflicted. We
see Hal placed in an environment one might expect based upon the comments in Richard II the Boar s
Head Taven but he delivers a soliloquy which stands in stark contrast with the Hal we expected. While
this soliloquy in which declares his tavern dwelling to be a mere ruse to gain influence lends credence
to Hal s Machiavellian image, the context and the precise nature of the speech makes it difficult to
extend that line of reasoning and label him a Machiavel. Thus, when Hal states
By so much shall I falsify men s hopes,
And like bright metal on a sullen ground,
My reformation, glitt ring o er my fault,

That same moment can be said to be the foundation for the development of the separate identity of
Henry. Though childishly unwilling to accept his fate on one level, he is clearly preparing himself for
the responsibilities of the throne on another level. When he chooses to return the stolen goods from
the Boar s Head heist, he is allowing his noble virtues to surface. These developing and arguably
primitive virtues contest greatly with the separate character of Hotspur, an individual largely defined
by his honor. Thus, in

The Possible Causes of Cleft Lip and Palate
Cleft lip and/or palate is a condition where the tissue of the lip did not completely close during
embryotic formation that affects 1 in 700 people born. Though not immediately fatal, the disorder can
cause complications with consuming and speech that could lead to more serious problems. The only
way to fix the gap is to surgically go in and sew the two sides of the lip/palate together; this is a
comparable easier and faster solution than other solutions out there for different disorders. Many
people who get the surgery recover fine, have slight physical differences, and are able to succeed in
society like anyone else (condition does not hinder mental state or ability drastically). This condition
has many different phenotypes that fall in two categories, unilateral cleft and bilateral cleft (Dixon et
al., 2011). In a unilateral cleft, only one side of the palate or lip is affected (asymmetrical) while in a
bilateral cleft, both sides are affected usually in a symmetric pattern. Because of the large range of
phenotypes, it is very difficult to trace back to certain genes and factors and figure out how these
factors together influence the expression of the trait. Cleft lip and/or palate can be expressed by itself,
called non syndromic, or with other conditions including Kabuki syndrome, called syndromic (Dixon
et al., 2011). Depending on the type of disorder, this condition is caused by different chromosomes
and mutations on these chromosomes. For example, if it is indeed

Essay on Religious Syncretism and its Consequences in...
Religious Syncretism and its Consequences in Mayan Society When Spaniards first set foot on
Mesoamerican shores in the early sixteenth century, they encountered not the godless mass of natives
they believed they found, but a people whose rich spiritual traditions shaped and sustained them for
thousands of years. These diverse spiritual practices legitimized nearly every aspect of Mesoamerican
daily life, from science and architecture to art and politics (Carmack 295), in many of the same ways
Catholicism did in Spain. The collision of these cultures in the Great Encounter and the resulting
Spanish colonial state mixed not solely two different peoples Indian and Spanish but thousands of
variants: elites and slaves, peasant farmers and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the native people, Christianity appeared to be primarily a set of practices, many of which
resembled their traditional practices of prayer, offerings, processions, dramas, fasting, and the use of
sacred images (Carmack 166).
In Mayan areas, cofradías became a central part of Christianity in the New World.
Cofradías religious societies instituted and overseen by the Catholic Church and dedicated to a
particular saint were intended to facilitate the Indians integration into the Church and to serve as a
mechanism for the collection of revenues from the indigenous population (Carlsen 93). The spiritual
leap to acceptance of saint societies was not a great one. Each Mesoamerican town or city already
worshipped a patron god; with the introduction of Catholicism, the indigenous peoples merely traded
one icon for another (Fash). As Church leaders became increasingly dependent on the funds generated
by the cofradías as a major source of income, Mayan leaders recognized the bartering power they held
and used it to gain a degree of autonomy in their worship practices (Carlsen 94). This tacit agreement
allowed Mayans to include their own deities in their flourishing idol worship, and many of these
practices remain in place today as such figures continue to line the walls and altars of many parishes.
In Santiago Atitlán, for example, a stone image of Aklax (or San Nicolás), the patron deity of aj kuna

Expository Essay: Bullied Documentary
(Topic Sentence) Bullying is a serious problem that should not be taken lightly. (Background Info)
Jamie Nabozny was a boy who was constantly harassed at Ashland Middle and High school for being
gay. One day, his mother called the office and the principal just ignored Jamie s bullying problem. The
bullying escalated and Jamie received no help from his school. For example, Nabozny even tried to
commit suicide and was hospitalized while the school did nothing to help. The bullies went so far as to
beat him up and threaten to kill him if he told anybody. (Attention Grabbing Strategy). A few weeks
later, Jamie said that he could not tolerate school anymore from the constant abuse and torment. He

students are sometimes upset from school. Nabozny had to deal with offensive language, and insulting
slurs. (Explain how Main Point and Example(s) Support Thesis Statement) This experience that Jamie
had to deal with shows how harassment can really hurt somebody if it is not stopped. Somebody has to

The Importance Of Protein Degradation
The authors goal in conducting this experiment was to establish a link between, among other things,
protein degradation through the ubiquitin protease system (UPS) and the consolidation and
reconsolidation of long term fear memories. This research was necessary because, while research had
been done linking protein degradation to synaptic plasticity, no study had been performed to analyze
the role of UPS in the amygdala, where long term fear memories are believed to be stored.
Additionally, prior research had led to conflicting reports of the importance of protein degradation in
consolidation as opposed to reconsolidation, which the authors intended to clarify. To obtain the
desired information, researchers tested male Long Evans rats ... Show more content on

Most research findings confirmed what prior research indicated protein degradation and synthesis are
essential in memory formation and memory formation relies on NMDA. However, the research
indicated differences between the memory processes used by the hippocampus and amygdala in that
prior researchers had found little evidence that protein degradation was a necessary part of the
consolidation of memories in hippocampus. This led researchers to conclude that the amygdala and
hippocampus may be more similar with regard to reconsolidation of memories than consolidation of
memories.
Analysis:
Prior to reading the article, I had very little understanding of the importance of proteins in memory
functions. I believed them to be most important with regard to enzymatic functioning and structural
composition. However, the article indicates how incredibly important the minutiae of protein function
are to a properly functioning memory. Based on protein function, researchers were able to control if
and how much the rats were able to remember. The data do seem to support the authors conclusions.
Protein degradation was measured by the presence of ubiquitin, which was a fairly accurate
measurement tool. In addition, the researchers used an abundance of controlled groups in order to
isolate the desired variable the combination of shock and auditory cue. Conclusions about the presence
of elevated protein degradation are supported by the collected data from the

that he sang really well. He worked at a little food truck that when you come up to it, it smells like

Analysis Of Concepts In The Hundred Dresss By Eleanor Estes
We all had something when we were younger that put the spotlight on us as children. Whether it was
an unusual last name, big ears, or funny freckles there was something that made us insecure or self
conscious. I can remember being made fun of for my last name Hartung . Kids used to ask me if my
tongue was a heart and I would begrudgingly answer saying that Hartung actually meant royalty in
German, which was a lie but it was what my parents told me to say. In The Hundred Dresses , Eleanor
Estes illustrates these concepts that still hold true today because no matter how time goes on children
will always be made fun of for ailments they cannot help. She explains how putting others down due
to things that are out of their control, such as a funny last name like Hartung , will never make you
feel better about yourself. Eleanor Estes goes on to show how you should stand up for people because
being a bystander makes you part of the problem, something that adults and kids alike struggle with
today. Lastly, she shows how everyone is unique and although there may be something a little
different about someone that does not mean they do not have other talents that make them special in
the best way possible.
Whenever someone feels unsure of themselves their first reaction typically is to attack those around
them in an effort put themselves on a pedestal maybe this is why Maddie never stood up for Wanda.

agree with Steele more when he states that the NFL is a $9 billion dollar industry and needs to take
further steps to protecting its former players (Steele, 2011). The NFL attempted to appease former
NFL players by coming up with a benefit plan known as the 88 plan . The plan was designed to
provide money for the care of former players suffering from dementia. Goodell was quoted in the
article stating, The men who played professional football decades ago deserve our respect and
recognition, and their contributions to our game must never be overlooked. Neither I nor the NFL

actually had a different disease that cause degeneration of the central nervous system. The discovery

Violence in Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
Violence is one of the most exaggerated forms of physical aggression and it can exist for a series of
reasons. It involves a person or a group of persons acting against another person or groups of persons
with the purpose to achieve one or several diverse goals. In many cases violence results from
individuals perceiving the acts of other people as hostile and thus wanting to act against these people
before it is too late. Depending on the situation, more or less individuals might get involved in an act
of violence, especially when they consider that it would be essential for them to do so.
William Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar provides audiences with an account involving the Roman
dictator Julius Caesar, the 44 B.C. conspiracy that resulted in his violent assassination, and the
continued violence that dominated Rome consequent to his death. In spite of the fact that the play s
title is Julius Caesar, Caesar s character only appears in three scenes. The tragedy s central character is
Marcus Brutus and most of the storyline relates to him and to his failure to understand matters from a
general perspective when he has the chance to do so. The play actually demonstrates how violence can
emerge from individuals misinterpreting behavior seen in others and the idea of violence dominates
most of the play, shaping the way that characters interact and think.
From the very first lines of the play audiences are presented with the character of Murellus. This
character s

Romeo And Juliet By Baz Luhrmann Essay
Baz Luhrmann adaptation of William Shakespeare s Romeo Juliet is modernised to convey the
meaning of the original play more appealing to today s audience. He keeps the Shakespearian
language but changes the props, clothing, setting and music. By using these different techniques he
makes the movie effective to the audience. The prologue directed by Baz Luhrmann is a futuristic
interpretation of Shakespeare s 16th century play. The prologue shows the tv newsreader describing
the rivalry in Verona Beach and the deadly feud between Romeo s Montague family and the Capulet
family of Juliet. Baz Luhrmann uses the newsreader as the narrator compared to Shakespeare s play.
He uses the prologue to locate the action in the modern fictional Verona Beach USA, and to introduce
the feuding families. The news reporter is reading Shakespeare s original text and tells the events that

Literary Uses Of Hyperbole In Go Ask Alice
Hyperbole: A hyperbole is an exaggerated statement or claim not meant to be taken literally. In Go
Ask Alice, the author uses this literary device effectively by using the exaggeration to illustrate how
the character is feeling. Throughout a lot of the book, she is feeling very sad and overwhelmed. In the
very beginning of the book, she says, And now the whole world is cold and gray and unfeeling. This is
an exaggeration because the whole world isn t literally cold and gray, but that is how she is seeing it.
As the reader, I can get a better understanding of her feelings by her exaggerations.
Details (selection of detail): Having detail in your writing is very important and can make the
difference in the piece of literature. Detail can help the reader have a better understanding of what they
are reading. On page 134, the author writes, It s a good thing most people bleed on the inside or this
would be a gory, blood smeared Earth. Anonymous is explaining her feelings about the world around
her using immense detail. As the reader, I can have a better idea of how she is seeing and describing
her world. Simile: A simile is a figure of speech that compares of two things that are different than
each other in order to make a description of something more prominent. An example of when this is
used in the book is when it says, Well, like oil and water, I can t quite adapt or fit, on page 18. She is

The Rule Of Nerva And Rise Of Trajan
97 98 CE: The Rule of Nerva and Rise of Trajan
The years 97 and 98 CE marked an important turning point in Roman history, as it marked the
beginning of the Period of the Five Good Emperors which lasted for 83 years. During the years of 97
and 98 CE, many important events occurred. Marcus Cocceius Nerva, simply called Nerva, was made
emperor in 96 CE, and ruled until his death in the January of 98 CE. Under his rule, many new laws

previous emperor s mistakes. Before Nerva was emperor Domitian, a very harsh and authoritarian
ruler who was under the impression that the Senate was trying to undermine his power. Because of
this, emperor Domitian had hundreds of traitors in the Senate imprisoned. During his reign as emperor

Endodontic Infection
Costeron defined biofilms as spatially structured microbial communities, embedded in a hydrated
matrix of extracellular polymeric substances, that they have produced. Their function is dependent on

Biofilm mode of growth is very beneficial for bacteria, as they build structured communities with

The subject of biofilms in endodontic infection was widely discussed in literature.

Acute inflammation is hallmarked by the influx of neutrophils. Neutrophils are attracted to the area by
chemotaxis, which is a response to the initial tissue injury or may be initiated by bacterial products
such as LPS. The radiographic changes of this stage will not be evident, as the process is young and

providing the irritant has been eliminated.
In case of microbial cause, neutrophils respond releasing leukotrienes, and prostaglandins.
Leukotrienes (LTB4) will stimulate the influx of new neutrophils and macrophages to the side of

Ethical Dilemmas In William Diehl s Primal Fear
In the novel, Primal Fear by William Diehl, there are many ethical dilemmas in the entire novel. This
is to be expected because the plot of the novel was centered around a court case. The stakeholders
involved were the attorneys, judges, the citizens of Chicago, as well as the people being defended in
court. The three main characters of the novel were the ones involved in the major ethical dilemmas.
With the center of the novel being around the court case, there are many different aspects pertaining to
the law. The setting of the novel was important in the ethical point of view seeing as the fundamentals
of ethics state that just because something is ethical doesn t necessarily make it legal. Having this in
mind, I was able to connect the principles of law and ethics to identify the unethical actions that
occurred throughout the novel. Martin Vail was an attorney whose job was to defend Aaron Stampler
who was accused of murdering an Archbishop. Martin was focused on winning the case by attempting
to prove Aaron s innocence. At the start of the novel, Martin stated that every person has the right to
the best defense regardless of the accusation. He did, however pose an ethical dilemma, he would

being violated by him doing this, the main one being trustworthiness. Martin believed that it was

Naked Egg Lab Experiment
Naked Egg Lab
Frances Jose
Redmond High School Biology, Period 3
Mrs. Sinclair
7 November 2014
Introduction
The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if that solution is
isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a mixture of two or more
substances in which the molecules of the substances are evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000). The
substances in a solution are solutes, the substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and solvents,
the substance in which the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will be put in a
salt water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking for three
different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic solution is when the
concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000). When a solution has a higher
concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane, it is hypertonic.
Hypotonic solutions are the opposite, and have a lesser concentration of solutes than the solution on
the other side of the membrane.
Diffusion is the process by which molecules tend to move from an area where they are more
concentrated to an area ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

data) will increase because the water will pass from an area with high concentration (water), to an area
with low concentration (egg). It is predicted that the egg will gain mass and look larger (qualitative
data) because of

Why The Agent Is Fully Self Owning Essay
Libertarians hold that every agent is fully self owning. Every agent morally owns their own body, just
as they can morally own an inanimate object. A set of five rules comes with full ownership of an
entity. First, they control the right to use of their entity, both a liberty right to use it and a claim right
that others cannot use it (Vallentyne). Second, the agent has the right to compensation if someone else
uses the entity without the agent s explicit permission. Third, the agent has the right to call upon
enforcement rights. Fourth, the right to transfer these rights to another by sale, rent, loan, or gift.
Finally, the agent is immune to non consensual loss of these rights. At the core of the rules of full
ownership is the right to control the use of one s body. This is necessary when considering certain
actions that cannot be done without one s consent, but can be with their consent. Because of an
individual s inherent right to sexual autonomy, they have the right to act how they want with their
body.
Libertarians hold the view that prostitution is an activity between two consenting adults, which should
not be touched by the government or even an organized religion because they consider it to be a
victimless crime . They also they believe that it should not be subject to regulation, even if the act
does not involve love or even if it involves the exchange of money. Prostitution is done with consent,
which signifies that it is a expressions of oneself and the

How Did Benjamin Franklin Use Electricity
You use lights every day? Think about it: how would you able to watch tv, charge your phone, take a

The history of physics was changed by his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. People
usually used electricity for magic tricks creating and sparks and shock. Instead of him learning how to

believed that electricity and lightning were the same because they both created light, made loud noises
when they exploded and were attracted to metal. His hypothesis asserted that power was extremely
one liquid, which could be available in abundance, or leaving from a body, accordingly clarifying its
electrical charge. To prove his theory, he stood on a hill flying a kite with a key tied to it waiting for
the lighting to strike. At the point when the lightning struck the kite, the capable jolt went down the
string and charged the metal key. Franklin then touched the key and got a shock, in this manner
demonstrating the presence of electricity. Benjamin Franklin felt the negative charges in the metal
piece of the key that pulled into the positive charges when he grasped the key and felt a shock. He
knew if a building was tall or high up on a hill, it was bound to get hit by lightning, so he invented a
lightning rod which was made out of metal. The lightning rod would have a low resistance path of
ground for lightning and prevent houses from burning. The lightning rod is an incredible conductor
and enables the current to stream to the ground without causing any

Separation Of Powers And The United Kingdom s...
This essay is aimed to focus on and examine the importance of having a separation of powers and the
reasons for having same in the United Kingdom s constitution. We shall further look into the structure
of the United Kingdom s constitution whilst assessing its somewhat unclear separation of powers
which exist and assess the reasons why the United Kingdom s system of government does not adhere
to the doctrine of the separation of powers. The separation of powers is defined as the political
doctrine of constitutional law under which the branches of government are divided to prevent an abuse
of power. These three branches are the Legislative, Executive and Judicial and are assigned special
powers to maintain a check and balance on each other. In this essay, we shall further go on to discuss
the roles and functions of each of the mentioned branches of government and the extent to which this
defined separation of power is enforced and/or practiced in the United Kingdom s system of
government taking into account the traditional structure that has been maintained over the years.
Aristotle states, There are three elements in each constitution ...first, the deliberative, which discusses
everything of common importance; second the officials; and third, the judicial element. These three
elements as defined by Aristotle are now known as our Legislative, Executive and Judicial arms of the
United Kingdom s system of government.
Montesquieu believes, everything would come to an end

Horse Slaughter Research Paper
If you re a Ramapo College student, chances are you ve driven past the horses across the street at least
a few dozen times and not given them much thought. But, for Ramapo senior Danielle DeBenedetto,
the Bergen County Horse Rescue is the subject of her hard work and dedication. I had been driving by
for a couple of years, said Danielle. I ve always loved horses and I just wanted to call and see if I
could volunteer here, mucking stalls or just learning about horses in general. Now, almost two years
later, Danielle has been given a spot on the board of the BCHR as Event Coordinator and Head of
Marketing. I found out what it was they were trying to do and I got all my resources together. I used

As the only rescue in the area, the BCHR works to save horses not only from Bergen County, but from
as far away as Pennsylvania. They rescue horses that have been abused or are headed for auction or
slaughter and then try to find new homes for as many as possible.
The fact that horse slaughter is illegal in the United States doesn t stop the cruel process from taking
place. According to the ASPCA, 150,000 horses are transported over the borders to Mexico and
Canada each year to be slaughtered for human consumption. People need to learn about the need for
horse rescues and the abuse that goes on in the horse community with slaughtering and horse neglect,
Danielle said. Not to say that it s more or less important than a dog rescue, but if these horses do go to
slaughter it s a brutal, brutal process that people aren t really aware of. However, amidst all the
political controversies, lawmakers on Capitol Hill have introduced a bill that would permanently ban
horse slaughter and the exportation of horses for that purpose the ASPCA reported in early January
2016. The bill has received bipartisan support, but it doesn t seem to currently be the top priority in
Congress. Until then, it s up to places like BCHR and the communities around them to save as many
horses as

Social Displacement In Quicksand
In Nella Larsen s Quicksand, a biracial woman by the name of Helga Crane faces a number of trials
and tribulations that challenge her social and cultural identity. Throughout the novel, Helga is
challenged with socially, culturally, and sexually misplaced while living among social elites and the
bourgeois, which ironically leads her to a place of isolation. Her dissatisfaction with her life, onset by
her sense of displacement, causes her to take flight in many situations she faces. Despite the fact that
all three challenges prove to be a combined force in Helga s downfall, it is reasonable to conclude that
her social displacement provides the most detrimental impact to the success of her character in the
novel.

Plato s Theory Of Love
Plato s Symposium is written in such a manner that each speech accounted has at least one insight into
the nature of love or Eros that is latter expanded, contradicted or confirmed by the speech given by
Socrates using Diotima s wisdom. Plato was very wise in his teaching on love, progressing from the
simple to the much more complex, climaxing with the with the recounted exchange of Socrates and
Diotima and then finalizing the instruction with a comical, but well placed praise of the paragon of a
beloved from a completely drunken fool. This ordering is contrived but serves as an excellent
framework for investigation into the question of what exactly is Plato s idea of love. Building upon the
notion that Diotima s speech illuminates the highest mysteries of the art of love, the best course of
investigation is to review each speech with the context of Diotima s claims to distill out the recurring
ideas. These ideas then can be constructed into a decent definition of Platonic Love. The first speech
of the symposium was given by Phaedrus, and thankfully, it is not very deep or difficult to understand.
The key to understand his speech and most of the following speeches is to understand the Greek habit
of ascribing a pseudo divinity to almost every facet of everything. In this case, Phaedrus is equating
mythological being called Eros to the human concept of love. Unfortunately, Phaedrus speech does
little to directly define the nature of love, instead, Phaedrus decides

How Did Stephen Jay Gould Support Evolution
Stephen Jay Gould was an American paleontologist, biologist and also one of the most influential
spokesman of his generation. Gould had written a lot of notable papers in which a few have landed
around the word Evolution. Evolution has been divided in to two categories, evolutionists, who
believe that living organisms have modified over a very long period of time and have ended up into
evolving or, creationists who believe that we didn t evolve from any form but that we were made from
a supernatural being God .
Creationists debate about evolution and say that evolution is just a theory and not a fact. Gould knew
this and has explained that Creationists have become ignorant and try to argue when they don t know
the true meaning. Most people use the term theory today as a guess, an idea and thought. In science
theories are ideas that explains facts and therefore theories cannot be facts. Facts on the other hand are
observations that have been confirmed over and over again to be final but it still does not make it final
as today it could be set in stone but tomorrow it could change and be discarded. A fact that is known to
a lot of people and is almost impossible to deny are fossils. We have dug up a ton of fossils and they
leave evidence to how us humans were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explained that evolution is observable in laboratory experiments and certain isolated species like
how they can change color do to this situation and the environment. Secondly he shows that nature
show signs that we have very similar structures and built with the same bones but if we weren t all
connected then why aren t we built and made better. Thirdly he brings up fossils which is the best
evidence known. It is the closest proof we have to evolution. In the end Gould feels disappointed that
a lot of people disapprove of evolution because it s one of the best ideas developed by science. It
brings up great points, where and how we

Chariots Of Fire Research Paper
Even heard of the movie Chariots of Fire? I personally have never seen the full movie until I had to
watch it for class. The movie Chariots of Fire is about two determined young male runners that train
for the 1924 Olympics in Paris. One man is a devoted Christian that runs for God, and refuses to run
on the Sabbath day. The other man is Jewish and just runs to win. The movie talks about the 1920 s
culture, different religions, and the Olympics.
Something that struck me about the movie Chariots of Fire was that the school was an all guy college.
If there are any colleges that are all guys or all girls now; those schools are very rare. Additionally is
that most college are not religious affiliated; the colleges allow more than one religion ... Show more

The professors back in the 1920 s wore judge capes; which is very different for what the professors
wear today. Furthermore the guys wore suits and ties, and the females wear flapper style dress.
Something that really shocked me was that most girls wore hats, so that the couple could hide their
kiss; which is kind of the opposite of now days. Now days in movies and outside of movies people
kiss in public and do not really care who is around them or looking.
Overall no matter where the people went they had their formal wear on for formal dinner, church, to
go to the movie theaters and even track meets. For track meets the track uniform was long shorts, and
a big shorts sleeve shirt. That is way different from the uniform these days. The uniform for track
these days are short shorts, and a tank top shirt, or a unitard for track.
One of the runners in the movie named Eric Liddell is a devoted Christian. Liddell compares faith
with running a race, and runs because he feels His pleasure. He wins for God, and he feels like it
honors Him. Because of Liddell s religion he would not race in 100 meter dash that happened on a
Sunday. He feels like running on a Sunday would be against His law; which is his own personal

Micro Analysis of
Micro analysis:
Film: Blade Year: 1998 Director: Stephen Norrington
In this micro analysis I will be analysing the film Blade which was produced in 1998 and directed by
Stephen Norrington. The micro elements I am going to focus on are Mise en scene and
cinematography. I will be analysing everything in the scene including props, costumes, facial
expressions, gestures, setting, codes framing to determine how it creates meaning. In cinematography
I will focus on the camera shots and angles and how these are used to create meaning. Both of these
micro elements will be combined to show how they work together in creating meaning for the
audience in the scene that I am studying.

This connotes that he is angry and frustrated or he is just ready to pounce on the vampire.
As soon as the fight scene begins Blade pulls out a shotgun. The shot gun is black and long in length.
While the fight is commencing there is a feeling of claustrophobia that the setting creates and
entrapment. This feeling is created through the shots used as he is fighting the vampires and the
composition. Blade is position in the middle of most of the shots and vampires are surrounding him
from either side fighting him. This gives a feeling of isolation and claustrophobia towards the
audience.
While the fight scene is going on the audience will notice that all the vampires are in red and Blade
has high key lighting on him most of the time throughout the scene. This indicates danger around him
and evil and also he is isolated. This shows the audience that Blade is going to be the hero because the
light that is shining on him indicates hope to the audience but then again indicates coldness at the
same time. As the scene goes on there is a mid shot of Blade having lots of stakes around his leg and
plunging it into a vampire s heart. The mise en scene makes us think that it is a good vs. evil theme
and that Blade is on a mission to kill all the vampires because strapped to his leg is a bundle of stakes,
its like Blade was ready and waiting for the vampires to attack.
Blade is then enclosed with vampires circling him. The shot used here is a long shot this creates

The Plight Of Young Males
As discussed in a recent essay by Saul Kaplan The Plight of Young Males , there is a serious academic
gender achievement gap in the United States and as I will discuss, around the world. Young women
are doing significantly better than young men, and the results are shocking. In the latest census, males
make up 51 percent of the total U.S. population between the ages of 18 24. Yet only 40 percent of
today s college students are men. Since 1982, more American women than men have received
bachelor s degrees. In the last ten years, two million more women graduated from college than men.
As Kaplan reveals, the average eleventh grade boy writes at the level of the average eighth grade girl.
He also states that women dominate high school honor rolls and now make up more than 70 percent of
class valedictorians. Kaplan says, I am happy to see women succeeding. But can we really afford for
our country s young men to fall so far behind, (733)?
Historically boys were top of the class. Today that is no longer the case. A recent article in The
Economist discusses a 2009 study by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co operation and
Development) that examined how 15 year old boys and girls performed in reading, mathematics and
science. They found that girls are performing better than their male classmates. This gender gap is
worldwide. Girls score higher than boys on tests measuring reading ability in every country in the
world (Loveless).
Why? According to the study

Anthem by Ayn Rand
Anthem, the futuristic novel pinned by Ayn Rand in 1937 gives light to a very scary place and time.
This writing expressed her views and beliefs that the United States would be repeating a dark place of
its history. Setting the preface where slavery and dictatorship was once more the social norm. As with
most forward thinkers their thoughts and ideas are concerned extreme and not given the validity they
deserve until future generation look back into the past. History and human behavior always repeats
itself.
Equality 7*2521 is a young boy that serves as the narrator of the story. Anthem is told by him to
express his view point of social order and its fall. Where doing anything alone is a sin. As the secrete
tunnel was discovered a fortress, retreat and refuge was to life of this young boy. A place where he can
feel safe and express his thoughts and ideas without the outside world controlling him anyway. His
goal was to obtain a small dose of what he craved. Seclusion! He refused to give in, like most people,
to the idea that the society was supposed to be seen as we instead of individuals.
After two years of experimenting and helping himself to the manuscript and studies of scholars, he
was finally to create the electric light bulb. He knew society would profit from this invention but was
unsure of how to share this with society since being in the tunnel was breaking the rules. His best bet,
according to him, was to show his idea to the scholars. While working on his

  • 3. The Presidential Election Picture For Running Mate As the dates for both the Democrat and Republican National Conventions draw nearer, the 2016 Presidential election picture is starting to become more defined. With Bernie Sanders chances approaching a mathematic improbability, Hilary Clinton s road to the Democrat nomination is all but clear. Although the Republican nominee is not as obvious, the field has at least been narrowed down from seventeen possible candidates to two, the Twitter loving Donald Trump and the optimistic Ted Cruz. Unfortunately, there is an important variable missing from all of these campaigns, the potential candidate s choice for running mate. Many times, the Nation throws on their blinders and ignores the impact of this decision as though there will not be any repercussion if an unsuitable running mate is chosen. This is evidenced every time a voter casts a ballet in the primaries for a particular candidate oblivious of who their counterpart will be. What is the purpose of postponing this important decision until primary elections are almost complete? Shouldn t the announcement of the individual s intent to run for President include the announcement of the vice presidential candidate as well? Although the office of vice president is erroneously considered irrelevant or insignificant, the unbiased truth is that twenty percent of past presidents were former vice presidents who assumed office upon the death or resignation of their predecessor. This historical evidence emphasizes how important it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Rise Of Great Nations The rise of great nations is a result of its citizens coming together to consider the all the possibilities to improve the state of the country and then enacting the best ones. In democracy, all people s voices are respected and heard but not all are logical and some are controversial. One election in America which metaphorically caused a civil war was the election between Donald J. Trump and Hilary Clinton. Both sides actively condemned the other with negative images of their opponent and a positive almost godlike image of their preferred choice. At times it appeared as if Clinton represented a traditional and logical way of thinking whilst Trump bragged about how idiosyncratic his alternative logic is. Indisputably, the opponent which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for wealth, it is imperative that the commander in chief improve the state of the economy by raising the Gross Domestic Product. For this category, all future presidents should enforce actions that allow the nation s GDP to be akin to that of former president John F. Kennedy. Under his administration, GDP growth was the highest it ever has been; at 5.5% (Soergel). Regarding the concept of happiness, I believe that as far as the country is not fighting a war and racial tensions are low, then the atmosphere of this country can be gleeful. In contrast to former presidents Obama and Kennedy, Trump has a unique and illogical way of pursuing these qualifications. Our current president is renowned for bypassing the basic tenets of logic, creating his own in the process, and have half of the nation under his spell. There are a myriad of policies that President Donald Trump intends to implement that beat common sense, but of all, the biggest are regarding health care, domestic jobs, immigration, and Muslims. Concerning health care reform, President Trump intends to repeal and replace every aspect of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that former President Barack Obama signed into law. At first glance, there should not be a tremendous amount of controversy revolving around this topic if the current adversities of Obamacare were replaced with something that is clear and transparent. • 8. U.s. Nsa Program On Surveillance Over the last several years, cyber attacks have been continually rising. This is in response to emerging threats from rogue nations and terrorist groups. They are increasing their attacks on government, military and civilian installations. According to James Clapper (the Director of National Intelligence) these threats have become so severe. It is surpassing terrorism as the greatest challenge facing the nation. In response, the National Security Agency (NSA) began conducting surveillance on those who are involved in these activities and others which are threat to US national security interests. This program became so broad; it started continually collecting phone records and emails on ordinary Americans. This angered many, who felt that the US was acting in a way that circumvented established legal guidelines and procedures. To fully understand what is taking place requires focusing on the event, the government s response and the ways it did / did not meet our national security goals. Together, these different elements will illustrate what occurred and the lasting impacts on everyone. (Greenwald 2014) The NSA program on surveillance began in 2001. This is when Congress authorized government officials to listen in on the phone calls and emails of those individuals suspected of engaging in terrorist activities (via the USA Patriot Act). • 10. The Industrial Revolution and Imperialism Essay The concept of imperialism is one that has pervaded nearly every major society or empire throughout human history. It seems to be a natural consequence of societies growing in size, power, and knowledge. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries vast changes occurred in Western Europe (and soon spread elsewhere) that spurred a new round of imperialism the likes of which had not been seen before. The changes were the industrial revolution that was taking place. Countries were rapidly advancing to industrial societies producing much greater quantities of goods at much lower costs. The goods produced ranged everywhere from cotton textiles to military machinery, all of which would play important roles in rounds of imperialistic expansion that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this situation occurred involving Britain and India where British merchants exported great quantities of cotton to England where it would be refined and made into end products for export. This same situation arose with nearly every other natural resource one could imagine. The world is abundant with natural resources all from different regions, and European nations saw it as their opportunity for the taking. Another very important result of the industrial revolution was the advancement of European weaponry. It was mentioned in a previous module for this course how something of an arms race began in Western Europe as the societies were separating into different empires and nations. That would continue with European weapons advancing far beyond what any other societies could match, there is even the example of a small number of British soldiers defeating thousands of African soldiers in a matter of hours due to the invention of the maxim gun. The evolution of European weaponry played several important roles in relation to imperialism. European weaponry first and foremost made it possible for those nations to dominate indigenous people to submit to their will in terms of trade. It even opened up new regions such as Japan that had previously only allowed very minor outside trade. With steamboats that could navigate upstream British soldiers were able to traverse up the Yangtze River and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This seems like a simple concept, but within the last fifty years this concept has gone out the window. Today, we all agree that pieces of paper hold value that they do not have, make coins that are not worth their value to produce, and act like it is sustainable. If we, as citizens of not only our nations but of the world, do not alter our course, there will be a massive failure of our system. My grandparents, specifically my mom s parents, have both played a large role in shaping me into the person I am today. My grandpa, or Pa , especially, has been more of a father to me than my own. He has held an essential role in my life, and is continually shaping me each day. My grandpa is a strong willed and old fashioned man. He likes to do things his way. In addition, he always works hard and provides for his family. Throughout the course of my rather short life, my grandpa has taught me many lessons. Here are three stories that stick out to me the most. They taught me to be adventurous, to work hard, and to get back up after failure. The whole family was there, as my grandpa decided to make a big purchase. He was buying a 2005 Chevy SSR convertible, and five year old me was ecstatic. After a long night of waiting for all the details to be worked out, the car was his. Me, being the bratty kid I was, jumped in and said, I get the first ride! On my first ride, I remember the roar of the engine. That sounds like kitties purring. I said. My grandpa laughed and said, You are right. Those are kitties! Thus, larger numbers of individuals are living in close proximity of disease vectors. In this paper I have discussed the vector borne disease of Lyme disease, and the zoonotic disease of Rabies. Both of these diseases are preventable and treatable but they do present public health hazards. Climate change is adversely impacting environments and humans are now living closer than ever to the boundaries of these diseases. In fact, in greater densely populated areas more and more individuals are coming into contact with such diseases. Prevention requires resources which many developing countries are lacking which leads to inadequate treatment for those whom are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Essay about The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V Foremost among the characters William Shakespeare develops in his series of historical plays is, undoubtedly, the character of Henry V. Henry, also at times referred to as Harry or Hal, develops through the course of four plays: Richard II, I Henry IV, II Henry IV, and Henry V. From the brief mention of Henry in Richard II to the full focus upon him in Henry V, a dramatic change clearly takes place: the playful carousing youth portrayed in the first play develops into a King and conqueror by the conclusion of the final play. In order to truly examine his development however, one must examine the growth and eventual fusion of two undeniable separate characters: the prince Henry, and the youth Hal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In I Henry IV, when we finally meet Hal, the image presented in Richard II becomes conflicted. We see Hal placed in an environment one might expect based upon the comments in Richard II the Boar s Head Taven but he delivers a soliloquy which stands in stark contrast with the Hal we expected. While this soliloquy in which declares his tavern dwelling to be a mere ruse to gain influence lends credence to Hal s Machiavellian image, the context and the precise nature of the speech makes it difficult to extend that line of reasoning and label him a Machiavel. Thus, when Hal states By so much shall I falsify men s hopes, And like bright metal on a sullen ground, My reformation, glitt ring o er my fault, Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes Than that which hath no foil to set it off (I Henry IV I.iii.211) That same moment can be said to be the foundation for the development of the separate identity of Henry. Though childishly unwilling to accept his fate on one level, he is clearly preparing himself for the responsibilities of the throne on another level. When he chooses to return the stolen goods from the Boar s Head heist, he is allowing his noble virtues to surface. These developing and arguably primitive virtues contest greatly with the separate character of Hotspur, an individual largely defined by his honor. Thus, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Possible Causes of Cleft Lip and Palate Cleft lip and/or palate is a condition where the tissue of the lip did not completely close during embryotic formation that affects 1 in 700 people born. Though not immediately fatal, the disorder can cause complications with consuming and speech that could lead to more serious problems. The only way to fix the gap is to surgically go in and sew the two sides of the lip/palate together; this is a comparable easier and faster solution than other solutions out there for different disorders. Many people who get the surgery recover fine, have slight physical differences, and are able to succeed in society like anyone else (condition does not hinder mental state or ability drastically). This condition has many different phenotypes that fall in two categories, unilateral cleft and bilateral cleft (Dixon et al., 2011). In a unilateral cleft, only one side of the palate or lip is affected (asymmetrical) while in a bilateral cleft, both sides are affected usually in a symmetric pattern. Because of the large range of phenotypes, it is very difficult to trace back to certain genes and factors and figure out how these factors together influence the expression of the trait. Cleft lip and/or palate can be expressed by itself, called non syndromic, or with other conditions including Kabuki syndrome, called syndromic (Dixon et al., 2011). Depending on the type of disorder, this condition is caused by different chromosomes and mutations on these chromosomes. For example, if it is indeed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Religious Syncretism and its Consequences in Mayan Society When Spaniards first set foot on Mesoamerican shores in the early sixteenth century, they encountered not the godless mass of natives they believed they found, but a people whose rich spiritual traditions shaped and sustained them for thousands of years. These diverse spiritual practices legitimized nearly every aspect of Mesoamerican daily life, from science and architecture to art and politics (Carmack 295), in many of the same ways Catholicism did in Spain. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To the native people, Christianity appeared to be primarily a set of practices, many of which resembled their traditional practices of prayer, offerings, processions, dramas, fasting, and the use of sacred images (Carmack 166). In Mayan areas, cofradías became a central part of Christianity in the New World. Cofradías religious societies instituted and overseen by the Catholic Church and dedicated to a particular saint were intended to facilitate the Indians integration into the Church and to serve as a mechanism for the collection of revenues from the indigenous population (Carlsen 93). The spiritual leap to acceptance of saint societies was not a great one. Each Mesoamerican town or city already worshipped a patron god; with the introduction of Catholicism, the indigenous peoples merely traded one icon for another (Fash). As Church leaders became increasingly dependent on the funds generated by the cofradías as a major source of income, Mayan leaders recognized the bartering power they held and used it to gain a degree of autonomy in their worship practices (Carlsen 94). This tacit agreement allowed Mayans to include their own deities in their flourishing idol worship, and many of these practices remain in place today as such figures continue to line the walls and altars of many parishes. The Importance Of Protein Degradation The authors goal in conducting this experiment was to establish a link between, among other things, protein degradation through the ubiquitin protease system (UPS) and the consolidation and reconsolidation of long term fear memories. This research was necessary because, while research had been done linking protein degradation to synaptic plasticity, no study had been performed to analyze the role of UPS in the amygdala, where long term fear memories are believed to be stored. Additionally, prior research had led to conflicting reports of the importance of protein degradation in consolidation as opposed to reconsolidation, which the authors intended to clarify. Most research findings confirmed what prior research indicated protein degradation and synthesis are essential in memory formation and memory formation relies on NMDA. However, the research indicated differences between the memory processes used by the hippocampus and amygdala in that prior researchers had found little evidence that protein degradation was a necessary part of the consolidation of memories in hippocampus. This led researchers to conclude that the amygdala and hippocampus may be more similar with regard to reconsolidation of memories than consolidation of memories. Analysis: Prior to reading the article, I had very little understanding of the importance of proteins in memory functions. I believed them to be most important with regard to enzymatic functioning and structural composition. However, the article indicates how incredibly important the minutiae of protein function are to a properly functioning memory. Based on protein function, researchers were able to control if and how much the rats were able to remember. The data do seem to support the authors conclusions. Protein degradation was measured by the presence of ubiquitin, which was a fairly accurate measurement tool. In addition, the researchers used an abundance of controlled groups in order to isolate the desired variable the combination of shock and auditory cue. Whether it was an unusual last name, big ears, or funny freckles there was something that made us insecure or self conscious. I can remember being made fun of for my last name Hartung . Kids used to ask me if my tongue was a heart and I would begrudgingly answer saying that Hartung actually meant royalty in German, which was a lie but it was what my parents told me to say. In The Hundred Dresses , Eleanor Estes illustrates these concepts that still hold true today because no matter how time goes on children will always be made fun of for ailments they cannot help. She explains how putting others down due to things that are out of their control, such as a funny last name like Hartung , will never make you feel better about yourself. Eleanor Estes goes on to show how you should stand up for people because being a bystander makes you part of the problem, something that adults and kids alike struggle with today. Lastly, she shows how everyone is unique and although there may be something a little different about someone that does not mean they do not have other talents that make them special in the best way possible. Depending on the situation, more or less individuals might get involved in an act of violence, especially when they consider that it would be essential for them to do so. William Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar provides audiences with an account involving the Roman dictator Julius Caesar, the 44 B.C. conspiracy that resulted in his violent assassination, and the continued violence that dominated Rome consequent to his death. • 35. Endodontic Infection Costeron defined biofilms as spatially structured microbial communities, embedded in a hydrated matrix of extracellular polymeric substances, that they have produced. Their function is dependent on a complex web and syntrophic interactions. (Costerton,1987) Biofilm mode of growth is very beneficial for bacteria, as they build structured communities with fluid channels, waste products, and signal molecules. (Usha, 2010) The subject of biofilms in endodontic infection was widely discussed in literature. Nair in 1987 using light and electron microscopy examined 31 lesions, obtained by extraction of teeth with gross coronal caries and infected root canal system. The changes within periapical tissue involve neurovascular changes of vasodilatation, hyperemia, vascular congestion and oedema of the periodontal ligament. Acute inflammation is hallmarked by the influx of neutrophils. Neutrophils are attracted to the area by chemotaxis, which is a response to the initial tissue injury or may be initiated by bacterial products such as LPS. The radiographic changes of this stage will not be evident, as the process is young and there have been not adequate bone destruction. Symptoms at this stage are: pain, tooth elevation and tenderness to pressure. If the cause of apical periodontitis is non microbial, the lesion may resolve, providing the irritant has been eliminated. In case of microbial cause, neutrophils respond releasing leukotrienes, and prostaglandins. Leukotrienes (LTB4) will stimulate the influx of new neutrophils and macrophages to the side of inflammation. Prostaglandins will act to activate osteoclasts and bone resorption. After few days the bone in the periapical area can be resorbed. This can be detected by conventional radiographic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Ethical Dilemmas In William Diehl s Primal Fear In the novel, Primal Fear by William Diehl, there are many ethical dilemmas in the entire novel. This is to be expected because the plot of the novel was centered around a court case. The stakeholders involved were the attorneys, judges, the citizens of Chicago, as well as the people being defended in court. The three main characters of the novel were the ones involved in the major ethical dilemmas. With the center of the novel being around the court case, there are many different aspects pertaining to the law. The setting of the novel was important in the ethical point of view seeing as the fundamentals of ethics state that just because something is ethical doesn t necessarily make it legal. Having this in mind, I was able to connect the principles of law and ethics to identify the unethical actions that occurred throughout the novel. Martin Vail was an attorney whose job was to defend Aaron Stampler who was accused of murdering an Archbishop. Martin was focused on winning the case by attempting to prove Aaron s innocence. At the start of the novel, Martin stated that every person has the right to the best defense regardless of the accusation. He did, however pose an ethical dilemma, he would defend the guilty and make a way to convince the jury to think otherwise. The basic ethical pillars are being violated by him doing this, the main one being trustworthiness. Martin believed that it was acceptable to skew the truth, which in turns violates the ethical codes of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Naked Egg Lab Experiment Naked Egg Lab Frances Jose Redmond High School Biology, Period 3 Mrs. Sinclair 7 November 2014 Introduction The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if that solution is isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a mixture of two or more substances in which the molecules of the substances are evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000). The substances in a solution are solutes, the substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and solvents, the substance in which the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will be put in a salt water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking for three different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic solution is when the concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000). When a solution has a higher concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane, it is hypertonic. Hypotonic solutions are the opposite, and have a lesser concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane. Diffusion is the process by which molecules tend to move from an area where they are more concentrated to an area ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. Why The Agent Is Fully Self Owning Essay Libertarians hold that every agent is fully self owning. Every agent morally owns their own body, just as they can morally own an inanimate object. A set of five rules comes with full ownership of an entity. First, they control the right to use of their entity, both a liberty right to use it and a claim right that others cannot use it (Vallentyne). Second, the agent has the right to compensation if someone else uses the entity without the agent s explicit permission. Third, the agent has the right to call upon enforcement rights. Fourth, the right to transfer these rights to another by sale, rent, loan, or gift. Finally, the agent is immune to non consensual loss of these rights. At the core of the rules of full ownership is the right to control the use of one s body. This is necessary when considering certain actions that cannot be done without one s consent, but can be with their consent. Because of an individual s inherent right to sexual autonomy, they have the right to act how they want with their body. Libertarians hold the view that prostitution is an activity between two consenting adults, which should not be touched by the government or even an organized religion because they consider it to be a victimless crime . They also they believe that it should not be subject to regulation, even if the act does not involve love or even if it involves the exchange of money. Think about it: how would you able to watch tv, charge your phone, take a hot shower(boiler that runs on electricity), use your computers. We use electricity every day with at any worries about how it works and if we are safe. We able to do those things without a second thought because of the Benjamin Franklin invention of a lightning rod that will allow electricity to be used as power. The history of physics was changed by his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. People usually used electricity for magic tricks creating and sparks and shock. Instead of him learning how to do magic tricks, Benjamin was curious about what else he could do with electricity. Benjamin believed that electricity and lightning were the same because they both created light, made loud noises when they exploded and were attracted to metal. His hypothesis asserted that power was extremely one liquid, which could be available in abundance, or leaving from a body, accordingly clarifying its electrical charge. To prove his theory, he stood on a hill flying a kite with a key tied to it waiting for the lighting to strike. At the point when the lightning struck the kite, the capable jolt went down the string and charged the metal key. Franklin then touched the key and got a shock, in this manner demonstrating the presence of electricity. Benjamin Franklin felt the negative charges in the metal piece of the key that pulled into the positive charges when he grasped the key and felt a shock. He knew if a building was tall or high up on a hill, it was bound to get hit by lightning, so he invented a lightning rod which was made out of metal. The lightning rod would have a low resistance path of ground for lightning and prevent houses from burning. The lightning rod is an incredible conductor and enables the current to stream to the ground without causing any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay is aimed to focus on and examine the importance of having a separation of powers and the reasons for having same in the United Kingdom s constitution. We shall further look into the structure of the United Kingdom s constitution whilst assessing its somewhat unclear separation of powers which exist and assess the reasons why the United Kingdom s system of government does not adhere to the doctrine of the separation of powers. The separation of powers is defined as the political doctrine of constitutional law under which the branches of government are divided to prevent an abuse of power. These three branches are the Legislative, Executive and Judicial and are assigned special powers to maintain a check and balance on each other. In this essay, we shall further go on to discuss the roles and functions of each of the mentioned branches of government and the extent to which this defined separation of power is enforced and/or practiced in the United Kingdom s system of government taking into account the traditional structure that has been maintained over the years. Aristotle states, There are three elements in each constitution ...first, the deliberative, which discusses everything of common importance; second the officials; and third, the judicial element. According to the ASPCA, 150,000 horses are transported over the borders to Mexico and Canada each year to be slaughtered for human consumption. • 44. Plato s Theory Of Love Plato s Symposium is written in such a manner that each speech accounted has at least one insight into the nature of love or Eros that is latter expanded, contradicted or confirmed by the speech given by Socrates using Diotima s wisdom. Plato was very wise in his teaching on love, progressing from the simple to the much more complex, climaxing with the with the recounted exchange of Socrates and Diotima and then finalizing the instruction with a comical, but well placed praise of the paragon of a beloved from a completely drunken fool. This ordering is contrived but serves as an excellent framework for investigation into the question of what exactly is Plato s idea of love. Building upon the notion that Diotima s speech illuminates the highest mysteries of the art of love, the best course of investigation is to review each speech with the context of Diotima s claims to distill out the recurring ideas. These ideas then can be constructed into a decent definition of Platonic Love. The first speech of the symposium was given by Phaedrus, and thankfully, it is not very deep or difficult to understand. The key to understand his speech and most of the following speeches is to understand the Greek habit of ascribing a pseudo divinity to almost every facet of everything. In this case, Phaedrus is equating mythological being called Eros to the human concept of love. Unfortunately, Phaedrus speech does little to directly define the nature of love, instead, Phaedrus decides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gould had written a lot of notable papers in which a few have landed around the word Evolution. Evolution has been divided in to two categories, evolutionists, who believe that living organisms have modified over a very long period of time and have ended up into evolving or, creationists who believe that we didn t evolve from any form but that we were made from a supernatural being God . Creationists debate about evolution and say that evolution is just a theory and not a fact. Gould knew this and has explained that Creationists have become ignorant and try to argue when they don t know the true meaning. Most people use the term theory today as a guess, an idea and thought. In science theories are ideas that explains facts and therefore theories cannot be facts. Facts on the other hand are observations that have been confirmed over and over again to be final but it still does not make it final as today it could be set in stone but tomorrow it could change and be discarded. One man is a devoted Christian that runs for God, and refuses to run on the Sabbath day. The other man is Jewish and just runs to win. The movie talks about the 1920 s culture, different religions, and the Olympics. Something that struck me about the movie Chariots of Fire was that the school was an all guy college. Now days in movies and outside of movies people kiss in public and do not really care who is around them or looking. Overall no matter where the people went they had their formal wear on for formal dinner, church, to go to the movie theaters and even track meets. This feeling is created through the shots used as he is fighting the vampires and the composition. • 48. The Plight Of Young Males As discussed in a recent essay by Saul Kaplan The Plight of Young Males , there is a serious academic gender achievement gap in the United States and as I will discuss, around the world. Young women are doing significantly better than young men, and the results are shocking. In the latest census, males make up 51 percent of the total U.S. population between the ages of 18 24. Yet only 40 percent of today s college students are men. Since 1982, more American women than men have received bachelor s degrees. In the last ten years, two million more women graduated from college than men. As Kaplan reveals, the average eleventh grade boy writes at the level of the average eighth grade girl. He also states that women dominate high school honor rolls and now make up more than 70 percent of class valedictorians. Kaplan says, I am happy to see women succeeding. But can we really afford for our country s young men to fall so far behind, (733)? Historically boys were top of the class. Today that is no longer the case. A recent article in The Economist discusses a 2009 study by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co operation and Development) that examined how 15 year old boys and girls performed in reading, mathematics and science. They found that girls are performing better than their male classmates. This gender gap is worldwide.
