Do you track your donors in a spreadsheet? Never heard the term "CRM" before? Have a CRM but find it doesn't fit well in your organization?
This presentation covers what a Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) is (constituents can be donors, volunteers, etc.) and why it matters to nonprofits
This is a high-level intro to CRMs and is best for organizations who are thinking about moving to a CRM. It will not cover specific CRMs and their features in depth.
Digital Teams in 2018: The New Landscape of Digital Engagement – Jason MogusNetSquared Vancouver
The state of digital teams inside our nonprofits often reflects deeper issues of culture and structure and how well adapted our institutions are to today's communications landscape. So what's going on with digital teams today? What team structures, roles, and behaviours are producing the best outcomes? Are we getting better at cross-silo and cross-channel communications? Are we set up to really deliver on the promise of digital engagement?

We wanted to see what the current ‘best practices’ were in Canada when it came to online fundraising so we signed up for email and gave to 152 charities tracking the user experience and communications along the way.
The results will shine a light on where organizations are at today, the gap between best practices and what is actually happening, and the areas of opportunity when it comes to digital marketing with a focus on four key areas:
1. Email Signup
2. Email Communication
3. Online Donation Experience
4. Gift Acknowledgement
In this session, you will learn what other organizations from across the country are doing — well and not so well — and what you can be doing to accelerate your online fundraising. From email communications, to landing page design, to donation page gift arrays, you’ll get tons of research backed tips and insights in this jam packed presentation.

Do your technology choices support your organization’s values? Working to build a better online Canada with informed technology choice
What does your choice of technology say about your values? How can choices about technology help build community? Sometimes decisions about Internet technologies seem small, but these small choices add up. Building a strong, resilient, and accessible Internet in Canada requires us all to understand how our decisions affect the larger Internet ecosystem and what we can do to ensure that our decisions are in line with our values.
Using data from the .CA Internet Factbook gathered from audits of 400 Canadian non-profit organizations conducted by Framework, and examples from the Internet and domain name industry, this session will address some key decisions about Internet technology and how non-profit executives can make choices that respect their mission, values and the needs of their clients.

Chapter Performance Reimagined: Taking Your Association's Growth to the Next ...Billhighway
Throughout COVID-19, we’ve seen a lot of associations wrestling with the impact of lower revenue and declining membership. But what if your components could help turn that around for you? In times like these, where many associations are not able to have large in-person conferences, chapters and affiliates can be used to deliver member-value locally in ways that National cannot. By empowering your components, associations can increase member engagement and retention, growing both revenue and membership. In this webinar, we touch on ways you can significantly mobilize your components to better serve members and create a win/win for your members, your chapters, and your association.
We traditionally focus on resources, tools, and insights that help you and your chapters without being a commercial for Billhighway. This webinar is different, so we want to be upfront about it. In times like these, associations need Billhighway more than ever. So we’re breaking with tradition and focusing this webinar on demonstrating how the Billhighway solution can help component-based associations solve the unique challenges of our current times. We wanted to share this detail with you ahead of time and encourage you to invite your executive director, CEO, CFO, and other senior-level leaders to hear a message they won’t want to miss.

Peter Houstle & Peggy Hoffman from Mariner Management will be your Tech Emcees and share how CRPs are leveraging these chapter tech tools on the job and why they’re recommending them to their chapter leaders. These tools come straight from other CRPs, so we’re sure they can work for your association too!

Members seek face-to-face opportunities to connect, learn, volunteer, and socialize with their peers more than ever. CRPs are looking for ways to activate that member engagement at chapters. Around the country, they’re asking:
- Are associations changing how they manage and relate to their chapters?
- What support and services should we give our chapters?
- How should we evaluate our chapters?
- Are chapters still relevant?
Mariner Management and Billhighway conducted the third Chapter Benchmarking Study to explore these questions and more. We went out to CRPs, CEOs, and Chapter Leaders. The data analysis offers a resource for benchmarking, sharing innovations in chapter management, and starting conversations about the future of chapters. Join us as we unveil the 2022 Association Chapter Performance & Benchmarking Report, and more importantly, look at how you can use it to answer your questions and optimize your chapters! #leveragechapters #gotchapters

- What would society look like of a charity X didn't exist?
- What would the cost to a community be?
- Can this be measured?
- What would it look like if everyone had access to all the informaiton about the charities they were supporting? What info is relevant and what is noise?
- Could we reduce the duplication in the marketplace? Could we create a marketplace?
- Can charity data support urban planning and smart cities? Can we use this info to predict the next social issue far enough in advance that policy makers and solution creators have enough time to manage the issue?
- Should we restructure the way that we incentivize donors beyond the charitable tax receipt and what about for-profit social impact investors, is there a way to incentivize their early-stage investments to encourage a social marketplace?
- Can we change a funding model from financing problems to rewarding executives and managers for coming up with solutions that push the needle on issues?
Using charity sector data, can we build more sustainable communities and use market forces to drive social change?

Building High Performance Team in Top ManagementHora Tjitra
Given the increasing globalization and international mergers & acquisitions, the number of international joint ventures (IJV) has been growing strongly in recent years. The success of such IJV depends very much on how successful the top management can communicate, interact and collaborate together as a high-performance team.
An important element here is the identification of the top management with the joint venture as well as their competence and sensitivity in dealing with cross-cultural differences.
Prof. Dr. Hora Tjitra will present recent studies and best practice examples from Asia (China) on the challenges and potentials in building high-performance teams in an IJV. Subsequently the culture-specific intercultural sensitivity will be discussed, highlighting examples from Germany, China and Indonesia.
SPIN Selling explains the science behind consultative selling, or rather, presenting an offer to a potential client, based systematically on the clients pain-points, using a powerful questioning process.
Failure to engage with constituents results in a loss of connection, dollars, and goodwill. A strong CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) system, encompassing business processes, engagement strategy, and technology, is crucial for connecting with constituents when they are ready to respond to your requests. When you align these elements, constituents feel that you are working with them towards a common goal, prompting deeper commitment and higher response rates.
So where do you start?
- Start with a vision
- Develop your engagement strategy
- Break down the silos
- Consider marketing automation
- Measure, test, and rely on your data

In this engaging webinar, presented by Tapp Network, we'll delve into the critical role and transformative impact of customer relationship management (CRM) systems for nonprofits.
Social media is rapidly becoming key to business communications. Yet, most organizations lack a strategy to facilitate this social system. This is where Social CRM can help. Make social media work for you - generate leads, market your events, recognize issues, and enhance customer relationships.
Social CRM: The New Rules of Relationship ManagementJeremiah Owyang
18 Use Cases That Show Business How to Finally Put Customers First.
Customers continue to adopt social technologies at a blinding speed – yet organizations are unable to keep up. Why? Rapid adoption of social networking enables users to connect with individuals and communities who share mutual interests, increasingly leaving organizations out of the conversation. Simply hiring more people to keep up with social marketing, sales, and support will not be sufficient, as consumers and their new channels will always outnumber employees. As a result, companies need an organized approach using enterprise software that connects business units to the social web – giving them the opportunity to respond in near-real time, and in a coordinated fashion.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

CRMs: What are they and how can they benefit your organization?

4. We help nonprofits use technology to achieve their full potential . We do this by lowering the barriers to technology through access to tools, knowledge, training and talent.
Over 50% of the small to med organizations responded to a survey by dotOrganize in 2006 said they store information about contacts in more than 4 places. 58% said they use excel, 52% use personal managers like Outlook, and 55% use pen and paper.
We build relationships to build commitment with our community members. When people donate to us, they are making a commitment, when they volunteer, they are making a commitment. Building of relationships helps us to identify leaders, champions that will advocate on our behalf. They also allow us to build communities, and to build power from the resources of that community.
Toronto Humane Society Example: -foster parent of 26 kittens -member of Toronto Humane Society -annual donor of Toronto Humane Society Engaging with the organization on at least 3 levels. Get individual letters of appear for donation each year, without recognition for existing relationships.
Broken process, broken solution,
-IT budget should be about 4-7% of an org’s annual budget. So for an org with about 300,000 annual budget, you should looking at spending 12-21,000 on IT each year. -Staff time, just because you have the ability to send out targeted emails, you still need staff to write and edit the content.
-SalesForce Nonprofit edition allows qualified nonprofits to receive 10 free user licenses. As organizations grow, what would be additional cost to hosted services like Salesforce? -In house deployment will require on-going maintenance and development costs. i.e. new reports in CiViCRM or SugarCRM. -although there is not one-solutions fits all applications out there that can track all the data for an organization, it’s worth investing to see how the data can be aggregated to show over lapping relationships and help to identify gaps or to develop leads.
MS Nonprofit Dynamics CRM $11.50 per user/month Salesforce free 10 user license/? $200 per user per month? Wild Apricot $25-50/month
