The student enjoyed creating a music video the most as they love music and storytelling. They found editing in Adobe Premiere and filming different shots and angles to be their strongest skills. Their best project was the music video as they were able to effectively create a story and edit it to have a vintage style. Going forward, the student wants to focus on roles involving music videos, short films, and social media advertising. They plan to research existing job roles and education requirements to help determine their future career progression.
3. Which specific production tasks have you
enjoyed most this year?
• I have enjoyed the music video the most as I love music and creating stories I
also really enjoyed using the adobe premiere and editing the music video how I
liked! I enjoyed creating a magazine cover as I thought it was fun looking as
other existing magazine covers and the way they use things like male gaze for
example I really liked filming the music video as I could go were I want not just
college and get really cool shots and angles.
4. What challenges have you faced this
year in your practical work?
• Iv faced many challaneges for example I struggled with all the writing side of
this year and really challenging myself to discuss the project. For example
during reflection and evaluation I had to really reflect on my work! I also
found creating my game pretty difficult as I didn’t know how to use certain tools
on adobe photoshop and had to learn as I went a long. Like how to move the
character in a certain way.
5. Which process do you think you have
made the most development in?
• I would say research has been my biggest improvement as its helped me discover
different ways to improve my projects and learn new things About what I can add
to them! For example on a magazine cover when researching different existing
popular magazines id see things I wouldn’t even think of adding to my magazine
which make such an improvement! Like adding spoilers of different movies! The
certain colours to reflect the film. I have also improved aa lot on my time
management and sticking to schedules of my projects a lot since last year.
6. Which technical skill do you think is you
strongest?
• My strongest technical film in my opinion would be filming as I think im really
good with angles and getting cool different shots. I like doing slow mo shots and
also editing is definitely something I feel pretty strong in for example editing
my music videos as I really like doing effects on certain shots and adding
filters and colours over the segmants
7. What do you think has been your best
project and why?
• My best project would be my music video as said as I think I did really well
creating a story along with the music choice I liked how I edited the music video
to make it a vintage like film and the outfits and props I used to fit the
inspiration I was following. My timing for this project was also good as I knew
what I was doing so I had a set schedule. I learnt how to do different angles
and effects on my clips and also lip syncing which was a big part of my music
video.
8. Which project did you enjoy least and
why?
• The project I least enjoyed would be the game as I didn’t really enjoy creating
it and found it pretty boring. I also didn’t really have much experience on
creating games and making them really good as it was not really something I
enjoyed so I didn’t think I was great at it. I didn’t enjoy creating the images
for it as animation and pixel is not my strongest point.
9. How have you managed your time
effectively this year?
• I think I have, iv managed to improve my time management instead of preconising
to much on things iv tried to just get it done. Iv also kept set timing dates in
my dairy to make sure I get things in on set dates. I have tried to give myself
more time on the actual project than the writing and also more on the research
and planning so I have more ideas on my project.
11. What roles/specialism do you see
yourself working in on future projects?
• I see myself doing many more music videos/ short films as I really enjoy those!
For example maybe far in the future editing peoples music videos or shooting
them! I find this so fun. I really want to specialise in adobe premiere and
photoshop more to get an even bigger understanding in it a well as improving my
research and planning side next year my looking more into the vocab and
techniqual words im using.
12. What do you see yourself doing at the
end of the course next year?
• I have no clue really as I could go down many paths and who knows what will be
happening. Id love to maybe work in podcasting or radio as well as shooting
things and maybe doing social media things like advertising for big companies but
till then I don’t like to look to far into the future and focus more on now.
13. What research do you need to do in order to
explore your future progression options?
• I will defiantly look more into existing job roles witch fit my portfolio, I
could research existing people and how they got to were they are now. If I wanted
to go to uni I can start applying for maybe courses and seeing the the
requirements would be as I would get a head start and this could really help me
find my niche.
Editor's Notes
Consider 2-3 specific practical parts of your work this year [e.g. filming or editing, etc] and discuss why these have been your favoured parts of the course so far
Think about the work that has been most challenging this year [try and be specific when talking about tasks] and how you responded to it?
A process would be research or planning or time management, it could be a combination. Talk about what it is, how you feel you’ve developed and where this was most evident in the year
This is a technical skill like filming, editing, photo manipulation, designing adverts or using Photoshop – think of an example that shows your strength
This is looking at how you see yourself specialising as we move into the FMP and into Year 2
