3. Which specific production tasks have you
enjoyed most this year?
• I have mostly enjoyed video editing which I did mainly for the music video
project, I enjoyed the editing part mostly and found it really enjoyable seeing
the final product come together. I enjoyed the filming and being able to see
everything that I had planned come to life pretty much and I think it went pretty
well. The editing I found really interesting to do because I’d never really done
proper editing before but have always had a vague interest in it and what goes
into it. I liked challenging myself with doing new things like matching the video
clips to the audio.
4. What challenges have you faced this
year in your practical work?
• This year I think that one of my biggest challenges definitely came from the
audio project. I enjoyed the planning and found it interesting planning my own
story having taken inspiration form an existing local ghost story, but definitely
struggled with the practical work of the audio work like filming and editing. I
also faced challenged in the adventure story in the animation part of it, I
really enjoyed the planning and think that aspect went fairly well but when it
came to actually animating parts of the games I definitely struggled with that
and it definitely wasn’t my strong suit. Linked to the animation and audio
especially I also need to work on time management in future projects and I found
that challenging at times.
5. Which process do you think you have
made the most development in?
• As a whole I think that I made the most progress in the adventure story.
Especially when it came to editing the movie poster, magazine cover and the
double page spread. At the beginning of the year I had zero photoshop skills and
really struggled when it came to working on it like when we turned a black and
white photo into colour. But in comparison to now I am really happy with the
progress in my somewhat skills in photoshop and think that that was shown in the
adventure story project.
6. Which technical skill do you think is you
strongest?
• I think that my strongest technical skill could either be now using photoshop or
editing videos, which is both something I would definitely like to corporate in
my FMP. I think my skills in using photoshop have progressed in contrast to the
beginning of the year, and after the music video project and being really happy
with the outcome of the final product I think that it would definitely be one of
my strongest technical skills.
7. What do you think has been your best
project and why?
• On a whole I think that so far the Adventure Story project has been my best. I
feel like the research went a lot better in comparison to past projects and I put
in more detail which was in my feedback of the music video to include more
detail. The experimentations went quite well and I included all the drafts which
annotation, and I was really happy with the final products especially the ones in
the first half of the project. In general I think that the final products
represented fairly well what it was that I wanted to make from my research,
planning and experimentations which is what I ultimately wanted.
8. Which project did you enjoy least and
why?
• My least favourite project was the Ghost Story audio project. It’s definitely the
project where I faced the most challenges. From the foley Shaun of the Dead
experiment our group definitely struggled finding sounds that worked
appropriately for what we needed them to, finding places that were silent and
editing it was difficult too matching it up to the audio and for it being the
right sound and speed that would work for it. I definitely also struggled with
writing a good script for the project that would get across all the aspects of
the plot that I wanted it to. As well as finding sounds that would work well for
the audio drama I found difficult and what would work for different parts of it.
9. How have you managed your time
effectively this year?
• I think that my time management this year could’ve definitely been improved this
year. It’s definitely one of the biggest things that I need to work on in future
projects. The last project I think I had definitely improved on it a fair amount
in comparison to the audio project. Everything was done, edited and handed in on
time and as a whole time management was definitely a challenge this year that I
need to work on in the future.
11. What roles/specialism do you see
yourself working in on future projects?
• I really like the idea of working in a producing/directing role but I'm not
entirely sure in what yet. Having really enjoyed working in video maybe more so
towards the direction of film or music videos but I have also really enjoyed
magazine so ideally I would love to do something creative in a
producing/directing role but specifically in what field I’m not entirely sure
yet. I think that doing the FMP, working on future projects and getting
experience in them it will definitely give me more of a specific idea of what
I’ll be leaning towards.
12. What do you see yourself doing at the
end of the course next year?
• At the end of the course next year I would potentially like to be planning Uni
and doing a course that would be good for me. I’m not decided yet but I would
more than likely want to take a gap year to work full time just to be able to
have had that experience and to have a fairly solid bit of money behind me and
the be sure that going to Uni is definitely right for me and the choice that I
want to make.
13. What research do you need to do in order to
explore your future progression options?
• To explore mu future progression options I need to start looking more in depth at
potential careers I would like to go into and look into things like the
qualifications needed, skills needed, experience that would be good to get for
that job, and overall just get a better understanding and more knowledge about
the specifications of what goes into the job and if that’s something that I want
to do. I also need to look into Universities and what Uni would be good for me,
what course would be the best for me and that I’d enjoy the most, and to look at
the grades needed in order to get into them.
Editor's Notes
Consider 2-3 specific practical parts of your work this year [e.g. filming or editing, etc] and discuss why these have been your favoured parts of the course so far
Think about the work that has been most challenging this year [try and be specific when talking about tasks] and how you responded to it?
A process would be research or planning or time management, it could be a combination. Talk about what it is, how you feel you’ve developed and where this was most evident in the year
This is a technical skill like filming, editing, photo manipulation, designing adverts or using Photoshop – think of an example that shows your strength
This is looking at how you see yourself specialising as we move into the FMP and into Year 2
