3. Which specific production tasks have you
enjoyed most this year?
• I would say that throughout the year I have enjoyed the making of the movie
advertisement and game animation the most. I enjoyed using photoshop and testing
out different techniques to try and make the best-looking advertisement I could.
I enjoyed testing myself when creating the pixel art as it was something I had
never done before, I was trying to create good looking levels and designs which I
think I did well, and the designs look detailed and creative.
4. What challenges have you faced this
year in your practical work?
• This year I would say the main challenges that I faced in the different projects
were the lack of experience in the different software's, I had never used
photoshop, premier pro etc before we started college so at first using these
software's there was a learning curve that I had to get past, but I think that my
work is coming along a lot from the start of college to now, and that is evident
in what I have produced.
5. Which process do you think you have
made the most development in?
• I think that from the start of the year to now, I have made the most development
in the process of research and planning. I feel that at the start of the year I
didn’t use these areas well enough, and I didn’t use them to create a strong
influence on what I would like to create. I think from the music video project to
the adventure project you can see that the research helped a lot more when it
came to planning and my planning was a more detailed and clearer then at the
start of the year, this had a positive effect on my work.
6. Which technical skill do you think is you
strongest?
• I think that my strongest skill that I have developed in this year is the use of
photoshop. I feel that I have really developed my photoshop skills and I am quite
confident when it comes to using it. I still have plenty to develop and improve
but I still think this is my strongest area. I think I did well when creating the
movie advertisement and they show my development in photoshop. Photoshop is the
software we have spent the most time in since the start of the year so I feel
most confident in this.
7. What do you think has been your best
project and why?
• I believe that my best project was the movie advertisement and video game
animation. I think that this project showed the most technical quality and is a
great piece of work. This project is the one that I believe looks the best
aesthetically and shows quality. The double page spread is the most lacking of
the project but I know what and how I can in improve it. I learnt lots about
photoshop throughout the making of this project which I can use to help me in the
future.
8. Which project did you enjoy least and
why?
• The project that I least enjoyed would be the audio project. I would say that it
was this one mainly because it isn't an area that I particularly like and am
interested in. I didn’t enjoy the process of making the audio very much but that
might have been because I didn’t enjoy the spooky story aspect of it. I'd never
used audition either so that was also a learning curve.
9. How have you managed your time
effectively this year?
• To manage my time effectively so far this year I have made sure to always have
some sort of schedule for when I need to be doing something so that I don’t ever
get behind with lots of work to do in little time. I split it up evenly so that I
have a good amount of time for every section so every area could be completed
with a sufficient amount of detail. I made sure that if for some reason the work
wasn’t completed while at college, I still could complete it at home if it was
accessible.
11. What roles/specialism do you see
yourself working in on future projects?
• As we move into the FMP and then into year 2, I think I am going to focus more on
print-based work like magazines, posters and other things involved in print as
that could help when it comes to further education as I want to go into sports
Journalism. I may think about doing some stuff with audio as well.
12. What do you see yourself doing at the
end of the course next year?
• At the end of the course next year, I will probably be doing some sort of print-
based design revolving around sport for my FMP as this is what I am interested in
most.
13. What research do you need to do in order to
explore your future progression options?
• For some research for future education, I would need to look into different
outlooks of Sports Journalism and look into further detail in everything that you
would do on a Sport Journalism course. I could also look into different areas of
sports media that I could pursue a career in. Also, I would need to research into
established media outlets and see how it could be possible to become available to
work for them.
Editor's Notes
Consider 2-3 specific practical parts of your work this year [e.g. filming or editing, etc] and discuss why these have been your favoured parts of the course so far
Think about the work that has been most challenging this year [try and be specific when talking about tasks] and how you responded to it?
A process would be research or planning or time management, it could be a combination. Talk about what it is, how you feel you’ve developed and where this was most evident in the year
This is a technical skill like filming, editing, photo manipulation, designing adverts or using Photoshop – think of an example that shows your strength
This is looking at how you see yourself specialising as we move into the FMP and into Year 2
