3. Project Overview
In this section you will outline the aim of the project/task and give an
overview of the activates you undertook to complete it.

4. What was the theme of your project and
what attracted you to it?
• The 4 themes which we were able to chose from where nature, future, time,
industry, fantasy and illusion in the end we decided on future which we linked
together our product which is ‘THE GRID’ app which our demographic will be able
to match with new people who are close by or people who our interested in the
same environmental, climate change and political issues in the future. This will
then bring together an audience who can share these issues and become a team
to try help which links to that on our website we included events based around
the world and these protests will also gather each audiences. We also are using
social media to attract more of our demographic for example asking what social
media people use most. I am passionate about the future and the social issues
around the world and using this within my project will make me have a much
better understanding and I can learn more political views on people's opinions. As
well as view these for myself and voice my own opinions when researching this
theme.

5. What research did you undertake and how
did it help develop your project?
• I conducted a various amount of research for this project which was included on a
PowerPoint for this we began by finding our audience interests which was helpful
because finding this out can help use to decided on a theme of what we need to be
including to appeal to our demographic. Looking into social medias in more detail and
finding out general facts which we can reflect on for our social media of THE GRID.one
bit of research which I found very helpful was the existing products which I looked into
Love Island a tv program around our same demographic range I was able to find out
why they watch it and this has helped me to develop our own project with the website
as I also looked into the love island website for design ideas and the colour schemes
which they ae focusing on as I then used some of these within my own project.
Another part to my research which I looked into was style sheets, mood boards and
proof of concept this mainly helped with the layout side and design to how my product
will look and the main aspects which it will include which I found useful as I looked
back on the PowerPoint when I designed my website and used the exact logos and
fonts in my research which is a bonus. Overall, without this research I would have not
been able to create a website like I have I feel everything wouldn’t go well together
and I would have no continuous theme whereas now my colour schemes match well
and the website looks professional.

6. What was the outcome of the project/task?
• The outcome of our task was split into 3 different outcomes (as we have 3 people
in a group) which the focus was our website as we embedded every product that
was created on this, and the website was also part of THE GRID which our
audience could visually look at and use to get involved with things like the blog
etc. With this was also a grid advertisement and animated advertisement, I
focused on the print side and created our website I did like this idea of working in
groups to put together a project because it was a lot more easier to get everything
done in the time frame and our outcome was good and linked well with the theme
and each product related together in some way. We also shared together the
research PowerPoint, so we had a lot more information to achieve this perfect
outcome we had been planning on making.

7. Personal Response
This section will explore your thoughts and feelings about the
experience. This will help gain a understand of how your personal
feelings may have impacted the final outcome.

8. How did you develop and improve your ideas
throughout the project?
• Once I began this project I was confused, and I never really had a set product
which was going to be my outcome as I wanted to focus more on the website
making of things but by looking into other sources, I was able to form together an
idea and once we had chosen the theme of the future, I was able to use the
internet to find out future facts and watching documentaries through YouTube.
Once I had began my website, I only had a title but by developing my ideas such
as looking into blogs, events things which I know will get my audiences attention I
began to add a lot more things as I went along. The first background to my
website was a just a plain colour but once I had looed into my logo, I noticed I
could use my logo as part of my background which I used photoshop to create
this backgrounds this was a huge improvement for me because my website then
looked less basic and more detailed for its audience. Another design which was
quite basic at first was a logo it was very simple and didn’t really catch anybody's
eye so near the end of the project we had a bit of extra time and decided to
create an outer glow which really made the logo stand out and appeal to our
audience.

9. How did you feel about the project before
you started?
• Before I started my project, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed has I had just
finished my previous project and had spent a lot of time on this so moving onto
the next project was a change as I didn’t quite really understand the concept to
this new project especially once I found out that we are working in groups to
complete the project was confusing as I haven’t done this before and is
something completely new to me. I felt this would be a great experience for me
with working as a team and I was able to give it a go, however I was happy with
trying out this project and once I had begun it and learnt a lot more about the
meaning behind it and the sort of outcomes, we must produce I felt a lot better
as they were options for print which I specialize within, and we didn’t have a limit
to what we could create which I like because I am then able to explore many
different outcomes.

10. Did you collaborate on your project or engage
contributors, etc?
• No, we did not collaborate or engage any contributors to our project because we
was already working in a team and didn’t need any other people to feature in any
photographs etc.

11. How did you feel when the project was
completed and why?
• Once I had completed the project, I wasn’t full satisfied with my outcome
because I felt very rushed only having 2 weeks to complete the product and with
not fully having a set schedule, I feel I could have improved a few of the parts in
my website or added a lot more than I had in there I was happy to finish this
project because I have been excited for my FMP which we will now be moving
onto so it was create to learn new bits and experiences, find out facts about the
future (our theme) which I can use later on. I was also relieved to get this project
out of the way because as I said from the beginning, I did struggle with full
understanding the meaning of this, and I wasn’t certain on what I was making.

12. Evaluating the project
In the previous sections, you have been commenting upon the project development. The
evaluation may include some similar information but it will also include critical comment.
An evaluation must include information about the good and bad points of the project and it
is important to be honest. Finally, you should make a judgment about the effectiveness of
the success of the project

13. What were the good points about the project/task and what did you
learn from them? [try and think of at least 3, more if possible]
• One good point to this project was the research shared PowerPoint which we created because
we included a range of facts and statistics but also looking into existing products. This was good
for me because it helped me to gather my ideas together for the project and I was able to reflect
and use these facts for when I created my product, I learnt a lot of new things from this such as
finding out information on the future etc. documentaries and learning how to achieve the
perfect audience profile from looking into existing images.
• Another good point to this project was my reflective journal this is a technique which I always
like to use within my projects because it helps me to structure my process and find out what
parts where a success and what I am good at but also what I need to improve on and in the next
lessons I was then able to improve on these to achieve a better outcome which was a good point
for me. l always complete these reflective journals and have done because taking screenshots
helps me to log my work and as I complete my evaluation, I can have the reflective journal up to
guide me.
• Working in a group of three made it a lot easier to get our own things done and gather
everyone's ideas together I did enjoy working in a group and I haven’t ever worked in a group for
a project like this before, so I have learnt new experiences and gained a lot of teamwork. We also
helped each other by putting our input in and giving feedback so we could all work on our best
outcomes and helping each other out when stuck for example if I was unsure on something with
photoshop I could ask someone in my group who may know how to help, we also all specialize in
something different which was a great way to try something new and explore the different types
such as animated advertisement or video.

14. What challenges did you face and how did you
respond to them? Try and think of at least 3...
• The main challenge which I faced was with my website because I was having a lot of problems with
the wix site itself certain parts weren’t loading when using the college computers and I did keep
losing bits and having to re type them out, this was very stressful because it caused a he delay with
my product, and I had to focus on other bits. I then decided to continue my work at home with the
wix site using my laptop which responded a lot faster and brought this equipment into college to
complete.
• Another challenge was picking the theme for our project which was chosen as ‘the future’ this was
a challenge because I didn’t really know much about the future things such as climate change in the
environment so choosing this topic made it a lot harder for me to know exactly what I will need to
produce. As I was very lost at this point, I decided on conducting a bit of research on the future
itself and I managed to find a lot of people's opinions and judges which helped me a bit because I
can understand how my audience would view this too.
• Lastly, I believe I didn’t handle my time management as well as I could have this is because I spent a
lot more of my time on my research PowerPoint as we added a lot of detail into this which leant me
to spend less time on my outcome, product I did notice my time management throughout the
whole of my production time, and I did try to act upon this by using my extra free time to add into
more time spent on my production time as we did only have 2 weeks which isn’t particularly a long
time for myself to produce a whole website.

15. How would you rate the final piece? [think along the lines of
poor, satisfactory, good or excellent...justify your rating]
• I would rate my final piece ‘good’ because I am happy with certain aspects of my
website such as the design side and how I matched together bits of the website
like the colour schemes had a constant flow and overall looked like how I had
originally planned it together in my research. However, I don’t think I would rate
my final piece any higher maybe if I had made some slight improvements or had
more time, but I think I could have made this website a lot better when looking
back on it. I feel like some parts look more like previews of the website than being
able to use it I also think some parts are quite random and I wouldn’t really know
if they would make a lot of sense to my demographic audience. Overall, I think this
is a clear rating for my product not too high or too low there is always room for
improvement as I would have liked to rate it higher but I'm unsure on if it has
reached that sort of excellent just yet.

16. What is your opinion of your final piece? What
elements do you think are successful and why?
• I think the outcome of my final piece is a good outcome and I am
impressed with what I have created in a short period of time, and to
also say when I started this project I was confused and unsure on the
future knowing near enough noting around this type subject. Whereas
now I have managed to learn this theme, and this has reflected on my
outcome being a lot more detailed than I had imagined. I think having
a plan before hand really made this product successful because I think
my work would have been all over the place and not making no sense
but as I have scheduled near enough every aspect, I have been able to
reflect on the planning and produce an exact double of my plan. I
think adding a lot more pages on the website and making it more
detailed could have been an extra bonus especially with my blog, this
needed a lot more blog posts and examples so my audience could see
but I had only enough time for two posts however, I managed to take
some pictures for those blog posts which was a success. Furthermore,
using photoshop was a success as well because having a lot of
previous experience with this was good and when I was creating the
backgrounds or Instagram pages I already new exactly how the layout
would look and how to edit the fonts which normally takes up most of
my time, but I managed to get few done in a good amount of time.

17. How did you design apeall to your target
audience?
• My design appealed to my target audience firstly
because within my research I looked at colour
schemes which appeal towards the exact age range
and font types we also conducted a survey to get
more responses and what they like to see on these
type of website aimed at this specific.
Demographic. I included things such as a blog this
was a great way for my audience to interact and I
noticed many people liked the idea of blogs
because they could find people with similar
interests to themselves, I also wrote a few blogs
out with information on the theme we had picked. I
also added many events which I think appealed to
my audience because these events were based on
global warming, climate change etc. something
that will interest them to attend the events and
become apart of the grids team. Finally, my design
appealed towards my target audience because it
was presented in a formal and professional way, I
didn’t add too much to the website the
backgrounds were simple, and I also chose the
same font for each page which was consistent, and
I was happy with this.

18. Analysis
In this section, you will focus on the details of the project and make
sense of what happened in the project. You should demonstrate how
your decisions informed the project development and the success of the
outcome.

19. In what ways was the overall project a
success?
• The overall project was a success because we managed to change the title of ‘THE
GRID’ into a whole project from scratch and in the end, we had created 3 different
products and with a meaning behind each. We also managed to appeal our
products to the specific demographic which was the focus to this project that we
have achieved this was a success. I believe that by sticking to all our planning and
research which we had conducted beforehand, and our products looked exactly
like the mood boards etc. this is a huge achievement for me because it shows my
understanding and process with the project. Working in a team can be difficult but
I think we managed to work well together and produce various ideas which
helped us achieve the outcome which we have. Lastly, the website which I had
produced was mainly a success as I have had a lot of previous experience with the
wix site, so I already knew mostly every tool and how to create certain designs
which we needed.

20. What elements did not go well and why?
• The main element within my project that didn’t go well was my website
(included on the wix site) this is because I really struggled to get onto my website
edit most times as certain things wouldn’t load which meant I had to work on
other pieces of work whilst waiting for the site to go back up again, it also meant
that I couldn’t work on the website and had to leave this till last minute which is
something I didn’t want to have to do. The wix site also did loose some of my
work and I had to spend time remaking these elements this is the first time I
have had a struggle with wix as it normally works perfectly, I am not too sure if it
was a problem with the college computers. Another element which did not go
well was the background designs for the website I did try a few different designs
including the logo into the design, but they turned out looking very basic, blurry
and repetitive as they duplicated lots of the same image as the image size didn’t
fit the background size. In the end I decided to change this and create a whole
new background which I preferred a lot more and it fit well.

21. How did your skills develop during the portfolio? [remember,
skills aren't just technical, remember things like organisation,
time management, communication, etc. as well]
• My technical skills mainly developed using Photoshop with adding layers
onto layers and using blending tools which I haven’t tried before especially
adding a red glow effect to the outside of an image which was something
new and I turned out to look very professional. Whilst using wix I also
found a lot of new apps which were new ‘image layouts’ and adding in
‘event planners’ as I didn’t know you could download apps within this site
which a new skill that I have learnt I had explored the wix website to look
for any new bits which I could include I also found an image which you can
‘hover’ over this was a good experience and the outcome ended up looking
good (when you click on the tickets the arrows point outwards). My
communication skills have 100% developed by working in a team and
having to chat about what we want to achieve an helping each other out
this was new for me, and I enjoyed gaining my teamwork skills for the
future. I was very organised with my work which is a key skill and I
developed this even further by having both a production schedule on my
proposal and having a reflective journal to include all my work on I made
sure to split my work into folders just so I wouldn’t lose any important
work that we would need. I would say I did develop my time management
as even though I may not have ad enough time as I needed, I still managed
to get everything submitted on the deadline which is a huge achievement
for myself.
WIX skills

22. What meaning and messages did you want to
convey and were you successful?
• We wanted the grid to be able to be a product which is a way of making
friends and finding people with the same interests, and by doing this we
were able to give a message to our audience on the theme of the future
how humans are destroying our world and what impacts this has and also
the issues with climate change and ways we can help to reduce this and
stop this from continuing. We wanted our website to be a place people can
post their thoughts and feelings with this issue and bringing together
events and socials to help put a stop to this and spread the message to the
whole world as a lot of people don’t understand how serious these issues
are and what the future will hold for us if we don’t make a change now. I
think from my website I was very successful with spreading the meaning
and message to my audience because I create all these products and
events which will help to make a change.

23. What feedback did you get from your peers
and viewings?
Once I had finished my website, I began to ask a few people which I knew in the same demographic
which my product was appealing towards and gathered feedback on the website itself. I was happy
with my feedback because I did mostly get positive comments however there were a few slight
improvements which could have been made which was mentioned in the feedback I did agree with
these as to why I only did rate my product as good beforehand. For next time I now know certain
aspects which I can do differently and make sure that I act upon these.
• “ loved the colour scheme to the website and how they matched well together this was a great idea to use
you also added cool background edits which attracted me a lot to the website, I think focusing more on the
blog could have been a slight improvement but overall, I loved this website.”
• “I love this creative style to the website an amazing title which caught my eye, I liked the meet the team
part which was creative and unique to the website, I couldn’t think of any improvements for this one.”
• “a lot of detail has been added to the website it is clear that the theme was future because a lot of evens
relating to the environment where on there which I think was a great idea the blog got me involved
wanting to read more! Love the colour scheme of reds and blacks, I would say for an improvement maybe
focus more detail to the Instagram and have the social media linked with more images around them
overall great product.”

24. What knowledge have you gained that would help you in the
future to improve your project? Also, what knowledge from
academic literature and professionals has helped and why?
• I have gained a lot more knowledge with the print-based work in my project
mainly with designs on photoshop and the wix site as I struggled with certain
affects on my website and how to make them as I had looked at existing products
(websites) and saw a few deigns I liked and looking into the app section on wix I
was able to find new things I could add such as layouts or linking social media
onto a website which I didn’t know can be possible without paying premium
these were great for me because I could link these in to my website. Knowledge
for literature is mainly the theme side of things like learning more about the
future and climate change, planes and how the environment is hugely in danger
or how humas are having a huge impact on this, which I also didn’t know a lot
about until I have started this project. (finding out information helped). All this
knowledge will help me within the future because I will be creating allot more
websites and design when I move onto higher education (university) and having
previous experience will help me achieve even better grades to my work and
professionalism.

25. Action Plan

26. If you were making a similar project in the
future, what would you do differently?
• If I was making a similar project in the future I would do a few bits
differently, looking upon my feedback I would try to make my blog a lot
bigger than just two posts because I believe a blog is very effective for any
type of project and it is a great way to connect with your audience adding
more images and text would be something g I would change or even
hashtags. I would also try to connect more with social media in this project
and find more ways we can include social media to attract a much larger
audience base, for example having my audience post pictures tagging the
Grid ways like this can be helpful to reach more people which leads them
to viewing my website. I think I shouldn’t have spent too much time with
my research and focused more on the production side my outcome could
have been a lot more professional, therefore within my next projects I can
try to focus more on the production as this is the key focus.

27. How could you develop your skills for future projects? Please
identify the appropriate resources and courses. For example,
webpages, tutorials, books, short courses and qualifications.
• My next project will be my FMP I can develop my skills for this by using
books such as ones which talk about photoshop or website skills which
include step tutorials that I haven’t seen before or know about. I could also
look into webpages with tutorials or existing wix sites which other people
have created with a similar sort of theme to a certain project I will create
this will; be a great idea to learn a lot of new designs and techniques all
into one. To step even further I could look at short courses on how to
create a website or how to create something specific on photoshop I am
determined to learn a lot of new things for my next project which inspire
me to reach that higher level. Having these skills can also help me with
reaching certain goals in the future and I need this to complete certain
qualifications for universities etc.

28. What personal attributes could you develop to
ensure you are working at a professional level?
• From this project I have developed a lot more personal attributes and I can
continue to do this the main one linked to this project would be teamwork
because when working in a team I have been able to develop my
communications skills when helping within a team and since with COVID
we haven't been able to do group work in a long time which it was good to
be able to do this again after so long. Another personal attribute which I
have is I tend to spend a lot of time on one part of my project and put all
my effort into this which then the other parts don’t turn out as good or
detailed I believe this is some thing I would like to develop and improve
with because I overthink with my project that everything must be the best
when this makes me loose a lot of my time focusing on the less important
parts to the project.
