Research a sector of the industry that you are interested in working in [e.g. film
production, TV, radio, graphic design, etc]. Use the information you find to produce an
illustrated guide to that sector. Include facts about employment, skills needed,
workforce information, etc.
Task 2: Practitioner Research File [1.1]
Within your chosen sector identify someone who is a notable practitioner and produce
a fact file about them. Research their journey to where they are now; look at
education, experience, skillset and look for insightful quotes about them and by them
to build a picture of who they are and how they work.
Task 3: Five Year Plan [1.1]
Produce a plan taking into account where you are now, what you will need to do next
and how to go about that in the next 5 years. Outline educational requirements
[college, University, courses, etc], experience you will need/would like to gain and
personal development that will be necessary to you in your future plans.
5. Task 4: Music Video Process Log [2.1, 2.2]
Complete the Music Video Process Log to evidence how you worked technically during
the Music Video production phase. Screenshot and explain how you managed to get
your production finalised.
Task 5: End of Year Review [2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2]
Produce an end of year review looking at how you have worked across the year,
considering each stage of production, which productions have worked/not worked,
how you have managed your time, what skills you have developed, how you have

areas you wish to focus on to develop further.
7. Task 1: Illustrated Sector Guide [1.1]
Research a sector of the industry that you are interested in working in [e.g.
film production, TV, radio, graphic design, etc]. Use the information you find to
produce an illustrated guide to that sector. Include facts about employment,
skills needed, workforce information, etc.
8. What we want from you is research in to the part of the media industry that you are
most interested in. That could be films, magazines, video games, television,
journalism⌠whatever you are interested in.
Find out about that industry. What jobs roles are available? What skills do people
need to work in that industry? What level of education is needed? How diverse, or
not, is the industry?
We want some good facts and figures that you can take and then use in your
illustrated guide.
Write down the information that you find, and keep a record of where you found it.
Itâs best to get lots of research, and then pick the most useful information from that.
9. When making your illustrated guide, think carefully about all the elements
involved.
A good guide will have:
⢠Concise information
⢠Consistent image style
⢠Clear, consistent typography
⢠A coherent colour scheme
All of these elements need to work together to create your guide.

â˘What qualifications do you need to get into radio?
Courses include Level 2 Certificate in Music Technology, Level 2 Certificate in Radio,
Level 3 Diploma in Creative and Digital Media. You may need two or more GCSEs
(or equivalent) at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D) for a Level 2 course or four or five GCSEs

Entry requirements: Usually a media production course at a technology college or
university. Alternatively you could gain experience through a media
apprenticeship. Employers are usually more interested in skills and experience
than qualifications, e.g. you can start out as a ârunnerâ and gain experience of
shoots. You could apply for the Guild of British Camera Technicians' (GBCT) trainee
scheme. You could get into this job through an advanced apprenticeship
13. What we want from you is research a specific person that works in the part of the industry
you made your illustrated guide for. Focus on those involved in the production of media,
rather than people who just appear in it.
Find out as much as you can about them, to help you produce your fact file.
We want to know what their education was like, what experience they have and what skills
they have. Find quotes about them. Read about them. Get a good picture of who they are
and how they got to where they are.
Write down the information that you find, and keep a record of where you found it. Itâs best
to get lots of research, and then pick the most useful information from that.
14. When making a fact file, think carefully about all the elements involved.
A good fact file will have:
⢠Concise and relevant information
⢠Quotes about the practitioner
⢠Information on their work and achievements
⢠Background on how they got in to the industry
⢠What insight you have taken from this that can help you in your
development?
This information can be presented with graphics, typography and a colour
scheme.

She started studying filming, photography and creative media
And then a degree in illustration followed by learning code in her free time.
17. What are you currently doing to pursue a career in your chosen field?
Creative media level 3
I am currently filming and taking lots of photos for my portfolio for my future
career, I have recently tried to expand my confidence by filming for bands for
example shooting promo and editing trailers to expand other bands audiences.
I have been looking into other opportunity's to help grow my knowledge and
have recently been looking into uni and studying photography and film witch is
one of my biggest interests.
18. What do you plan to do next in the pursuit of your chosen field?
Probably take it pretty slow as im still so young id like to delve into
lots of careers around media and I donât really know what my set
choice is. Maybe uni or maybe just grow my portfolio. I like Leeds
uni and have been reading there ucas policies.
19. Select at least three potential University courses that would help you further your career aims. You should state
what the course is, which university it is run by, the entry requirements and why you think it would help you.
Uni of Leeds- Film and production â the entry requirements are over 120
points witch is quite high and would mean id have to make sure I accomplish
my creative media level 3 diploma.
Leeds creative arts uni- Fashion photography- at least over 120 points at entry.
Leeds Beckett uni- Creative film production- at least 112 points at entry-
Achieving a portfolio of my filming projects would be useful to give me a head
start on getting into this uni, and possibly some learning experience in filming
for people. For example bands and there fashion.
20. What type of work experience do you think you would need to help you in your future career? How might you
be able to find work experience placements? If you could pick anywhere to do work experience, where would it
be and why?
I think I would need some filming production experience for example filming music
videos or getting footage for businesses. There is many websites that show job
experience rolls available. I would probably choose a music industry so I could help
film backstage things or even a news show like BBC or ITV and help film.
21. What specific skills do you need to develop? There should be a mix of industry specific skills and also personal
development points. When you identify these, come up with suggestions as to how you might make those
improvements.
I think I need to improve on my confidence for sure, this will get me
far in the industry if I show my work with confidence instead of
undermining myself. I think to work on this is just to do as much work
experience as I can as well as practicing in my own time to help
develop my skills. id like to improve on my time management so that I
can finish work on a set time instead of been behind on my schedule
this is always something business look for.
22. In 5 years time I willâŚ
Have worked on my mind and have a clearer destination as to what job
id like to peruse. Have grown my confidence and achieved the job of my
dreams, and be seen on big labels! And hopefully have grown my media
skills even more.
24. Task 4: Music Video Process Log [2.1, 2.2]
Complete the Music Video Process Log to evidence how you worked technically
during the Music Video production phase. Screenshot and explain how you managed
to get your production finalised.
There is a specific pro forma that you will use for this as part of your music video
production. Ensure that is completed with your Music Video project, to complete this
task.
26. Task 5: End of Year Review [2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2]
Produce an end of year review looking at how you have worked across the year,
considering each stage of production, which productions have worked/not worked,
how you have managed your time, what skills you have developed, how you have
worked with others and how you organised your time, resources and equipment
throughout the year. You should then produce an action plan for Year 2 selecting 5
key areas you wish to focus on to develop further.
Complete the following slides to review your year. You can add images if you want to.
You can get screenshots from any part of your previous projects to support your work
on this.
27. Which productions have worked/not worked?
Id say my adventure project was a real struggle for me as I
found pixel art quite challenging, It didnât really work out the
best and I had to come back to it multiple times. Id say my
music video went really well as I received good feedback and
I also found it really fun therefor I did better in it as I was
enjoying it. The final project was also pretty creative however
I do think it was bang average and I could do so much more if
I had the time with the circumstances.
28. How you have managed your time?
I have managed my time pretty well some parts of the
project I struggled more with depending on where my
mental health was at that moment would reflect onto my
timings of each project I was doing and maybe would lead
me to falling behind slightly.
29. What skills you have developed?
I have developed many skills for example how to
create pixel games and challenge my premiere pro
skills in order to improve my music videos. I
developed more confidence in my media and the
projects I create, this is going to help me when I move
on from college into bigger things, its adapted
my independent learning and helped me challenge
myself.
30. How you have worked with others?
I have worked with others for example during production I
would film with others so we could all help improve
our projects and help make sure we have the crew to film. I
worked with others been featured in there projects and they
would let me know where and what time they needed me.
31. How you organised your time, resources and equipment
throughout the year?
I organised my time by adding clear times onto my Calander for when I
was going to be producing and filming. I also would make sure I booked
for equipment needed and what day and time, for example cameras
tripods, battery's. Id make sure I was able to get transport for the days I
had to film or produce so everything went clear, sometimes I would have
to catch multiple buses.
32. Produce an action plan for Year 2 selecting 5 key areas you wish
to focus on to develop further.
Area to work on Actions to take

schedule
