Feminism And The First Wave Feminism
Feminism is the movement towards women s equality and the fight for equal gender in the social,
political, cultural and economical aspects of society. Feminism also fights for equal opportunity for
women in employment and education. A feminist is someone who advocates their support for
women s rights but is not restricted to only women; anyone who supports women s rights and
equality are feminists, including men. Feminismis not only about the females; it fights for gender
equality for all. Feminist movements, or Women s movements, campaign for reforms in household
issues with domestic violence, political issues with equal pay, employment and maternity leave, and
reproduction rights. All feminism movements fight for equal rights, but it cannot be conquered or
be made known all at once. First wave feminism was mostly about women s suffrage and political
equality in general whereas the second wave feminism went more in depth about the social and
cultural inequalities.
The first wave feminism was mostly about legal issues, specifically woman s suffrage, or the right
to vote. Before women could even think about changing the government policies, they had to raise
awareness. While some acts may have been passed, the feminist movement did not truly start until
1848 with the Seneca Falls Convention. In the early 1800s there were some reforms but not as
much as the aftermath of the Seneca Falls Convention. Only one university, which was Oberlin
College, had changed its

Vatican s Involvement In Pope Pius XII
Yes, to an extent, I do believe that the Vatican could have done more especially in terms of Pope
Pius XII s direct involvement . From reading the scholarly work by Conway (1989) and Zuccotti
(2005), it is seen that there has been a lot of criticism as to the Pope s effort to save Jewish people
who were being murdered by the Nazi s prior to and during the holocaust. By looking at Zuccotti s
work, it can be understood that whilst the Church and the Vatican s members did provide shelter to
the Jewsthat were being attacked, it is seen that there was no instruction from the Pope himself at
that time to help the Jews and thus these members were in essence behaving in a way that they
believed would be approved by the Pope, as part of the

Practicing High Frequency And Sight Words
Practicing high frequency and sight words are effective teaching strategies that can deepen and
extend student early literacy development. However, it is vital to understand that although many
high frequency words are also sight words, there is a difference. Sight words are typically words
that students recognize immediately (within three seconds) and can read without having to use
decoding skills. Ultimately, practicing such words would help students become confident and fluent
readers as they would begin recognizing words by sight. On the other hand, high frequency words
are words that are commonly found in the English language. First, I would begin introducing and
teaching the words to K 3 students only a few weeks after the schoolyear

Frederic Douglass Essay
The United States of America is a country that was founded on the basic principles of freedom
and liberty. This often leaves it with a reputation as a land full of hope, where anything is
possible as long as one is willing to work hard for it. Unfortunately, this idea is not always true.
Frederick Douglas, who was born a slave, did not have the privelege of this aforementioned
freedom, liberty, and social mobility. Even though he was an exceptionally bright man, he was
enslavedand persecuted because of his skin color. His life represents both the failure and success of
the American dream, with the failure being the extremely more dominant, because of the color of
his skin.

(Quote where he says he felt freedom) Feeling this yearnig from freedom at such a young age
shows that being free was a god given right or quot;Law of nature quot;, as Jefferson so eloquently
stated in the Declaration of Independence. With all of this is mind it is very clear Douglass being
born in to slavery was a deifinite failure of the American Dream.
amp;#9;In the Declaration of Independence one of the most famous portions goes as follows:
quot;We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed
to certain unailiable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. quot;
This pursuit of happiness is a very important part of the American dream, for it is the result of all
the rights that were layed out. By being alloted these rights a person is free to pursue happiness in
their life, whatever happiness may be to them.
amp;#9;It is very ironic that when Douglass finally got his first taste of freedom he had to be
deceptive in sneaking away from his owner, just as the writers of the constution were deceptive
in their defintion of quot;man quot;. Once Douglass escaped from slavery he was surprised to
find that the north also a very racist place. Not only did the majority of northern whites still feel
that blacks were inferiour, New York was full of people looking to turn in fugitive slaves. Frederick
also found that his abolitionist friends were not free from this prejudice. At gatherings

How Did William Hathorne Shaped American Culture
America is presently a culture full of diversity and unity but it wasn t always so. Literature has been
known to affect the American culture and shaping the identity of the individuals of this country.
During the 18th and 19th century writing styles like Romanticism, Transcendentalism and
American Gothic appeared in hope to show their audience that there is more to life than what
individuals knew it to be. Nathaniel Hawthorne is most known in American history as a Gothic and
Romantic author with his novels, The Scarlet Letter and the House of Seven Gables and a large
collection of short stories. These stories and more from Hawthorne have been staples in the
American culture. Nathaniel Hawthorne s heavy Puritan ties helped shape his American... Show

Nathaniel Hawthorne s ancestors have lived in Salem since the 17th century; his earliest
ancestor was William Hathorne, who is very important to note when talking about The Scarlet
Letter. William was a magistrate and a large advocate for the Puritan society. William was
known to have Quakers beaten in public in Salem. Not only did William play such a large role
in the Puritan society, but also did his son. John Hathorne was known as the hanging judge,
because during the Salem Witch Trials he often sent supposed witches to be hung. During
Nathaniel s time as a boy he suffered from a leg injury that ultimately allowed him to develop an
interest in literature. He was the only boy apart from his two sisters. Hawthorne s father passed
away from an excursion during his time as a sea captain. His mother moved in with her wealthy
brothers who helped provide for her children; they were able to send Nathaniel off to Bowdoin
College to study literature and composition. After college, however, he was never able to make
much money off of his writings which resulted in him working at a Custom House which he
eventually was let go from when the Whigs took over the government. This lack led him to his first
novel, the Scarlet

The Sociological Theory Of Criminology
Criminologist breaks down crime in three ways Biological, Psychological, and lastly
Sociological. The very first era that crime began to be discussed was during the Middle Ages,
that s when many people believed that people could not conform to what was considered normal
thinking of their society, where these people were labeled as witches or even possessed by what
they may call satanic entities. Siegel (2010). The very beginning of criminology was noted with
classical school of thought with Jeremy Bentham and Cesare Beccaria. Cesare theorized that
crimes is in fact a product of what we call a ration choice or decision which can ultimately be
controlled with certain methods. Fast forwarding to many years ahead criminologists then have
expanded on compounded, and developed new ideas as to why people commit crime which
include theories that point the finger to the main three biological, psychological, and sociological.
Sigmund Freud established a well known psychoanalytic theory which were based solely on
personality defects which then claimed that crime was caused by improper development during
their early years. With such theories, it was said the criminal is not however responsible for their
behavior directly. It is however blamed on nonconforming personality traits which include
aggression, spontaneity, and dissonance. However, this is often hard to measure, and these theories
have had little impact recidivism or deterring criminal actions (Akers Sellers, 2004).

Integration Of Math And Science
Integration is a topic should be talked about because it is a topic that has multiple view points some
negative and some positives. No matter the viewpoints it is important to consider how integration
impacts the students. At the end of the day what students retain is what matters and retaining
information can happen in a variety of different ways. Integration provides a way to connect
multiple subjects and allows students to make connections. Integration can be difficult for teachers
to teach because the integration does not fit well, but the outcome of integration is beneficial. With
the heavy weight of assessments and standardized, tests teachers need to make sure that whatever
they teach needs to connect to standards and unites. Sciencehas become a subject that has been put
on the back burner because tests like Maps and Paws testing do not assess science. There are
many factors that affect what and how teachers teach. Integration of math and science is one way
to teach that allows teachers cover more than one major subject. Integration allows teachers to
teach science and math in the same environment that allows students to flourish. The classroom is
filled with a variety of different objectives and lessons and as teachers we need to make sure we
are using our time the best ability. The big question of this research is whether integrating math and
science is beneficial for students in the classroom. Each lesson and activity needs a purpose in the

The A Snake Enters The Story
Genesis could be broken down into two sections: Chapters 1 11 (God the World) and 12 50 (God
Abraham s Family). What hinges the two parts together is contained in chapter 12, assisting us in
understanding the message as a whole and introducing to the rest of the bible.
Genesis 1 4:16: Here we begin where everything is darkness and disordered, however; God puts
everything into order, creating a world where life can thrive. He finally creates Adam and Eve
(A E) in His image, which He meant them to be reflections of His character. He appoints them as
representative to rule earth on His behalf. A E are given a choice with how they may proceed
with running the world, which are represented via the Tree of Life and of the Tree of Good and Evil.
Shall they trust God s definition of good and evil or shall they take autonomy and define good
an evil for themselves? In chapter three a snake enters the story, who represents rebellion
against God. He convinces A E to rebel by eating of the tree of good and evil, for they shall be
like God. This tragic because God had already created A E in His image. A E choose to increase
the stakes by turning away from God (Life Giver) and embracing death by eating of the forbidden
fruit. Suddenly, things rapidly change and A E realize they are naked, vulnerable and distrusting.
So, they quickly fashion clothing to hide their bodies; also, they hide themselves from God
knowing they lost their relationship with Him. Once God seeks

The Disney Studio s Notorious Strike
Seventeen animation artists were ushered out of Disney Studios in Burbank, California on May
28th, 1941; they were then fired for being part of the Screen Cartoonist Guild.1 Once the news
spread to the other eight hundred plus artists and four hundred plus Disney workers, many were
outraged and further gathered together to make derisive posters and stir up compelling speeches to
support of their fellow colleagues. On May 29th, 1941 three hundred employees went on strike.2
The few loyal to the Disney Corporation gathered with management in hopes to quickly put an end
to the strike, however it was just the beginning. The Disney Studio Strike was acrimonious, lasting
five weeks and ultimately shattering the benevolent image Disney Studios portrayed to the rest of
the world.3 Many people associate the Disney Corporation with a lighthearted atmosphere and Walt
Disneywith the image of an artistic mastermind; so what happened to cause his workers to
deceive him and go on strike? This paper will identify and explore the tensions that led up to the
notorious Disney Studio Strike of 1941 as well as specifically provide the causes and effects the
strike had on Disney Studios and the animation industry. The ultimate question to be answered
throughout this paper is how did this strike demonstrate different issues than what was typical of
strikes during the 1930s and early 1940s? Going forward with answering this primary question
several other, more specific questions surface. To

Cultural Contact s Role In Warfare
What role did cultural contact play in the development of warfare and how has it changed the
nature of warfare for the communities involved? Cultural contact in history has always played a
large role in introducing religion, technology and social change. Warfare in particular is an area
where contact between different cultures has led to rapid changes in the understanding and conduct
of war. Changes that take place as a result of contact are often unprecedented and subtle to the
nations involved. The past can show that the influence cultural contact had on developing warfare
and how the effect was not necessarily unidirectional. Alexander s campaign across the ancient

The Punic Wars introduced Rome to the importance of naval dominance and to mercenary armies.
Rome had struggled in naval conflicts and it was not there was a demand to defeat the
Carthaginian at sea and this was reflected in better trained sailors and technology such as the
grappling engine. The use of the corvus, an assault bridge used on Roman ship which anchored
forced boarding onto enemy ships is an example of the technological advancements that was
introduced. The effect the corvus had on Roman naval tactics was profound as it allowed the early
Roman marines to fight in close combat and compete on a level ground against strong naval
opponents. This was a vital for the Romans in a time when their mastery of infantry warfare was
more advanced than their naval tactics during the conflict. In addition this conflict as a form of
cultural contact made the Roman accept the need to expand their navy, and this was achieved
within two months as mass production led to the commission of over a hundred warships to be
constructed within that timeframe. As explored earlier with the Greeks, the Romans adopted new
technology and tactics for conducting

Causes And Effects Of Social Media
Causes and Effects of Social Media There is no denying that the expansions of the World Wide
Web and social media have skyrocketed in the last few years. It all started with the birth of
MySpace for Generation Z in 2003. It then happened again later in 2004, when Mark Zuckerburg
created the most commonly known and used Facebook, which then led to the launch of Twitter
in 2006. Ultimately, what all of this is saying, is that the effects of social media have impacted
the lives of many since 2003. All of these social sites piggyback off of one another and it has
created a nation that has become dependent on the use of social media. People are using social

This birth was known as Twitter. Twitter was launched in 2006. The purpose of Twitter was to
create a mini blogging site, hence the reason that its users are limited to 140 characters per
tweet. In 2009, it was ranked as the top 3 social sites out of the ones mentioned and multiple
more. As time progressed, Instagram was released in 2010. Instagram is similar to Facebook
because one is able to share photographs, but that is Instagram s sole purpose. Instagram allows
the users to upload photos, edit those photos, and write captions to go along with them. Moving
along, in 2011, a different form of social media came out. The famous Snapchat that quickly
escalated. Snapchat allows one to send and receive snapchats that dissolve after 10 seconds or
less. It began where one could only send pictures and receive them, but then the creators
attended the instant messaging part. The messages, much like the pictures, are gone as soon as
one is finished it with it. It is easy to see how quickly social media progressed and in a very small
time frame. The impact social media has made is very evident and it has created a never ending
list of possibilities because of this drastic expansion. Since social media surfaced, it has created
many new opportunities, whether it be for businesses or just keeping up to date with what one s
favorite celebrity is doing. With the advancement of social

Lactose Intolerant People Research Paper
HELP FOR LACTOSE INTOLERANT PEOPLE
Who is a lactose intolerant person? This is a person who cannot digest lactose when ingested into
his body. How do you know that you are lactose intolerant? If you take fresh dairy products and
diarrhoea or get stomach upsets like bloating, pain, or cramps, regurgitation, flatulence, or gas,
borborygmi rumbling and gurgling in the stomach, nausea sometimes accompanied by vomiting,
you could most likely be a victim.
All is not lost if you still like dairy products, only in this case you may need to take tem in a
different state.
Milk has several components although many people take it as a source of protein, well it has
3.5% protein but more than that it has a 2 8% of carbohydrates which majorly is lactose or what
we call milk sugar. This is what that gives the fresh milk a sweet taste.
In the digestion process, carbohydrates are digested from the mouth by the enzyme by salivary
amylase, in the stomach there isn t much further break down until when it gets to the small
intestines. Every sugar requires its enzyme to digest it, for example maltose requires maltase so
lactose requires lactase. Lactase enzyme is naturally produced by cells in the small intestine lining;
it breaks lactose into its simple sugars which are glucose and galactose. It cannot be absorbed in its
complex state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Same way herbivores digest green forage while carnivores cannot. Lactase is present in babies
but wears off in some people as they grow older, mostly from the age of six. Premature babies may

congenital lactose intolerance in some people all together, though rare it cannot be ruled out. There
are other factors that can cause intolerance of fresh milk as well as fresh dairy products, these
include gastroenteritis and

Comparing Davis and Lincoln s Innagural Address
The bloodiest war in American history, led by Abraham Lincoln for the north, and Jefferson
Davis for the south, both presidents, but two different sides. Both garner for peace, yet one is
willing to start a war, while the other is willing to accept it. This essay will compare and contrast
the political, economical, and social outlooks on Lincoln s and Davis Inaugural addresses
throughout the civil war between the North and South. Slavery, laws, and state rights drove the
South to start a war, and Lincoln received the war with open arms. Both sides wanted peace, but
their means of achieving it and their leaders choices and beliefs differed greatly while still holding
similarities. Abraham Lincolnhad many neutral political views, which... Show more content on

When you put the two paragraphs together you can see that where Lincoln took a step back and
planned his approach to not only the oncoming war but the presidency itself, Davis decided to
bull on through and strive to please his own people while slandering those on the other side of the
wall. In terms of the economy, Lincoln had less to say then Davis. Slavery was largely the main
economical problem at the time. Fighting over the abolishment of slavery was slowly escalating.
Lincoln in contrast of what many who have not had history lessons would think, did not come into
office saying he would abolish slavery. I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the
institution of slavery in the States where it exists. (Lincoln, 3) Lincoln had no belief that it was his
right to throw out something so important to the economy of the southern states. Davis surprisingly
makes no major mention of slavery in either of his inaugural addresses. All that Davis talks about
that could slightly relate to slavery is that the Southerners are an agricultural people. Davis main
point about economical subjects, is his strike at the Union s naval blockade of the Southern states.
Davis says that the Union s blockade may be blocking the South s trade with foreign countries, but
it is only making them a stronger self supporting and independent people. Lincoln s only other real
point about the economy is his statement that the mail service will continue throughout the

Language In My Fair Lady
Abstract:
A language is a system of conventional signals used for communication by a whole community A.
C. Gimson. Language is an essential tool for communication as well as for self expression.
Language can be considered as a habit which is not genetically transmitted. It is acquired from the
environment and therefore it is always subject to change. Language and linguistics go hand in hand.
Language is a network of varieties and linguistics is the discipline that deals with the scientific
study of language and its variations like dialect, registers, pidgin, Creole, etc.
The purpose of this study is to explore the importance of the movie My Fair Lady in the study of

A simple example for the above statement is a comparison between a news covered by a news
channel and a newspaper. The news covered by the news channel would be more influential as it
includes the video clips along with the news scrolls and the reporter s narration, which creates an
effect on the audience that makes them feel as if they are witnessing the incident live, whereas,
the one covered by the newspaper will simply act as third person narrative to the audience.
Similarly, there are many text books and reference books that deal with the study of linguistics. But
the movie My Fair Lady is an excellent example, that gives the students of linguistics an idea about
the benefits of learning it properly and that gives the teachers of linguistics an idea about how to
teach it effectively.
This study will work on understanding how the movie My Fair Lady depicts the power and
beauty of the English language through the life of a linguist and his student and the impact it has
on the study of linguistics. It will also analyze how different researchers have viewed this movie
as a helpful tool in the study of linguistics. The content analysis is done on the story of the movie

surrounding it. It was the seventh visit of the Pope to the United States, and the first one since 1984.

Ultimately, the US Papal Visit was free of incident, and we may never know what threats were

The Cherry Orchard and the Rise of Bolshevism
Anton Chekhov uses The Cherry Orchard, to openly present the decline of an aristocratic Russian
family as a microcosm of the rapid decline of the old Russia at the end of the nineteenth century but
also provides an ominous foreshadowing of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution in the disparate ideals of

The most prominent of these symbols is the sound of a snapped string that occurs twice in the
play. That this symbolizes the end of the Russian aristocracy is obvious; after all, it is the one
unrealistic device in the largely realistic Cherry Orchard. Also, the elderly servant Firs informs
everyone that similar sounds were heard when the serfs were emancipated in the previous social
upheaval. Characters reactions to the sound in Act II are telling. True to his being the archetypal
modern man, the merchant Lopakhin is unfazed. The sound comes from somewhere very far away
(804), he says. Since he is naturally destined for the new Russia, recognizing the sound is not
important for him; he is already living in the new age.
The symbolism of the string snapping is even more clear at the end of Act IV, when old Firs is
left alone to die. The stage directions state that, after the sound of a snapped string dying
mournfully away is heard, [a] stillness falls, and nothing is heard but the thud of an ax on a tree
far away in the orchard (815). With the orchard (the status of aristocracy) in the hands of
Lopakhin (the new commercial class), the old days are forever gone. All that is left to hear is the
destruction of the orchard as the new class builds its world from the remains of the old. However,
in 1917, the Bolsheviks would succeed in altering Russia in a more lasting way, and this small
revolution would be subsumed by Communism.

Wali Khan Case Summary
The witness, Wali Khan, is thirty five years old and can speak, read and write English. He initially
identified himself as Haji Alam Khan, the father of Mohammed Aslam. He later identified himself
as Wali Khan, the decedent s brother, upon further interrogation on this issue. He testified that he
appeared at the deposition instead of his father because his father was ill.
Wali Khan has lived with all fifteen family members in a house in Kabul for the past year and for
the fifteen years prior, the family lived in Pakistan. The decedent and his family were originally

Falcata
Paraserianthes falcataria Southeast Asia s Growth Champion By whatever common or scientific
names it is known, Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen is a valuable multipurpose tree for the
humid tropics. One of the fastest growing of all tree species, it is used for pulp and other wood
products, fuelwood, ornamental plantings and shade for coffee, tea and cattle. Potential uses for
which it is being tested include alley farming and intercropping in forest plantations. BOTANY:
Falcataria belongs to the Leguminosae (subfamily: Mimosoideae). It is most widely known by its
former name,Albizia falcataria but it also has been called A. moluccana and A. falcata. Falcate

USES: Falcataria is perhaps best known as a pulp crop (NAS 1979, Hu 1987). Other wood uses
include fiber and particle board, packing cases, boxes, matches, chop sticks and light furniture.
Wood is difficult to saw and not strong or durable. Its thin crown provides partial shade to
coffee, tea, and cacao. It also is used as a windbreak for bananas. Trials in Hawaii have indicated
its usefulness as an intercrop with eucalyptus, especially in wetter areas. After four years,
eucalyptus grown with falcataria in a 50:50 mixture at a spacing of 2 x 2 m were 58% taller and
55% larger in DBH than in pure eucalyptus stands (Schubert 1985). In other trials with 34 and
50% falcataria, total biomass was equal to or better than that of pure stands (Schubert et al
1988). Falcataria also shows potential in alley farming. In a trial on acid soils (pH 4.2) in
Indonesia, trees were managed in hedges 4 m apart and produced 2 3 dry tons of green leaf
manure/ha/yr. Application of falcataria green leaf manure doubled upland rice yields and more
than quadrupled cowpea yields as compared to control plots (Evensen et al 1987). In 1988,
however, concerns surfaced about the longevity of falcataria in alley cropping systems (Evensen,
pers. comm.). Falcataria also is grown as an ornamental, although it seldom lives more than 50
years (APCF 1987) and its brittle branches can be a problem in windy areas. Raharjo and Cheeke

Herbs And Spices That Can Help Manage Your Diabetes
5 Herbs and Spices That Can Help Manage Your Diabetes
Meal planning is one of the most important (and sometimes frustrating) things for those with
diabetes. It can be challenging to create dishes that provide sound nutrition, limit sugar and
carbohydrates, AND taste good. But, by focusing on whole foods that incorporate a variety of
herbs and spices, you ll find you not only develop tastier dishes, but ones that can bolster your fight
against diabetes.
The five herbs and spices on this list have been shown to assist in managing blood glucose levels
as well as reduce inflammation in the body, which can lead to insulin resistance and diabetes (along
with a whole host of other chronic diseases!)
Herbs and Spices Have Historically Been Used as Medicine
Herbs and spices have been used for thousands of years for their health benefits. Papyri from
Ancient Egypt spoke of fennel, juniper, coriander, cumin, garlic and thyme as health promoting
spices. [1] Ancient cuneiform records noted spice and herb use in Mesopotamia, where many
aromatic plants were traditionally used; and Sumerian medical literature dating from the 3rd
millennium BC mention various odoriferous plants, including thyme. [2]
Modern medicine is finally catching up to the ancients in realizing the health promoting benefits of
myriad herbs and spices. For instance, a study by the University of Georgia revealed that many
herbs and spices are a rich source of the antioxidant phenol, which can prevent inflammation and

plans to rob a bank. She was instructed by them that she must accompany them to the bank; that
she must allow herself to be photographed by the bank camera, and in addition, that she must

After a few days of being told of the plans, they drove to the crime scene and she was given a gun

Distribution of Wealth?
Wealth has affected american society and evermore has affect the fabric of families. Has the
distribution of wealth gotten so out of control that the effect will reverberate for generations to

When we were tasked to write this final research paper on one of the topics from the discussions
over the past semester i knew that i had to do a topic that i had dealt with on some personal level

What is your Greatest aspiration in life? the resounding answer was happy and healthy which is
similar to the answer the study got. the next question what is your greatest aspiration for you
children? and this too fielded about the same answer that the study got and that was that the
children to have a sense of self reliance and to be happy and content but an addendum to that
question is do you feel responsible for their successes and failures this was a resounding yes the
responsibility of carrying the burden of success and failure was hard because of the simple fact is
do you use your money to help or do you find another way to help the last question in the series was
how does money help or hinder you life goals. the answers were different the median income
parents said that the money neither help or hindered the situation at hand but more money would be
nice to to other things but was unnecessary the family with the higher income said that money helps
the situation because of the giving component the ability to give time and money to a worthy cause

Imperial Dreams Analysis
Imperial Dreams is the first movie i ve seen which shows an accurate representation of what
poverty looks like in the hood. The realism combined with the powerful relationship between
Bambi the 21 year old ex convict and his 4 year old son Day is what gave me so much empathy
throughout the film.
Personally I found that the film itself wasn t as strong as it could ve been because the plot was a
bit of a let down but the overall theme of poverty and crime was exceptional. From start to finish I
could tell that lighting was a key technique that Malik Vitthal used to portray such a dark
atmosphere which was needed to visually show that the hood is the cruelest of prisons. I found
that he would use subtle symbols in the background and setting to give this impression. For
example in the opening scene although Bambi is now out of jail he is still surrounded by dingey

What Bambis character is going through reflects a lot of truth for ex convicts and this is
actually a serious issue because it s reported that after 5 years of release only 40% of those
convicts were able to find a reliable source of income. Which leaves that other 60% with only
two options; to live homeless and begging on the streets or back into the criminal life. I can see
how hard it would be having ex convicts working in an everyday job because doesn t look good
for the companies, but as Bambi said whilst reading a piece of his writing to Day The hood is
the cruelest of prisons. The most unusual punishment. You were born into it. They don t even
have to build walls to keep people in. This doesn t seem right to me a prison is for criminals and

Morality Is A Big Theme Throughout The Book Les Miserables
C project
Legality versus morality was a big theme throughout the book Les Miserables. Two of the main
main characters, Javert and Jean Valjean conflict on that issue many times. Jean Valjean is a man of
his morals rather than the law, whereas Javert is strictly about the law, and nothing else. Both of
these characters face many legal and moral issues throughout the book.
Jean Valjean looks into his morals when he is faced with a dilemma. The first time that this
becomes apparent is the beginning of the book, when we learn why he is in jail. Valjean was
faced with jail time because his family was struggling and starving and he thought is was morally
okay to steal bread for his family even though it was illegal. Valjean stealing the bread even
though it was illegal, but because his family needs it his morals say that it is okay for him to do
so, showing legality versus morality. Another thing that Valjean does that demonstrate this theme
is that when Javert tells Valjean(when he is mayor and going under the name of Madeleine) that
someone has been caught under his name. If he decides to do nothing he will then face no legal
troubles any more, but because of his morals he decides the right thing to do is to go to the court
where this trail is taking place, and say that he is the real Valjean. He think it is immoral to let this
man suffer for his actions, so he decides to reveal himself.
Javert is the opposite of Valjean, and relies heavily on the legality side. In the

The Contributions Of The Renaissance Period In The 14th...
During the 14th century, Europe experienced famine, disease, death and major changes within the
church and papacy. Kingdoms consolidated and the influence the Pope held over politics waned.
Amid these crises, the people galvanized and made major advancements in what would come to be
known as the Renaissance period.
In 1301 King Philip IV ruled the Holy Roman empire in southern France. He employed civil
servants rather than barons to govern, breaking away from the feudal system that had been in place
and leading the county towards centralized administration. A feud between Phillip and Pope
Boniface VII would lead to the French control of the papacy when the seat of power was moved to
Avignon.
After the conviction of a papal legate at the beginning of the century, Pope Boniface VII urged
Phillip to give the Papacy jurisdiction over spiritual rule, espousing the notion that the papacy was
meant to govern kings and that churchmen were to be held accountable to church courts rather than
the royal court. Boniface also asserted that church funds were not to be used for state purposes. This
began a running conflict between the King, who wanted total control, and the pope.
After the death of Boniface s successor, French pope Clement V was elected. Clement decided to
remain in France and held court in Avignon. Seven French popesreigned there until pope Gregory
XI finally returned to Rome.
The tension between the papacy and the kings of England and France was a recurrent theme

against inequality. At beginning of the movie, it uses many terms to emphasize the underlying
issue of inequality such as Prey , Predators , and Savage . These terms reveal that there will be an

is not as welcoming and accepting as she thought. Her boss, Chief Bogo does not treat her as
same as other male colleagues but simply asks her to write out 100 parking tickets in one day.
Other officers are assigned different kinds of missions to complete. Judy s disillusion then fades
away because she thinks that she is able contribute to the city more than just signing tickets. Hence,
she decides to prove herself to them and fight for more rights; therefore she completes 200 parking
tickets in one day. Also, she pays full attention to anything that seems suspicious to her. She will not
miss any chance to show her ability. On the first day Judy meets Nick Wilde, her future partner, she
follows this suspicious fox but finds out that Nick is the victim of another animal s discriminationin

and not reliable. Although she was conflicted at first, she then turns to overcome the prejudice in

Assess The Significance Of Suspense In The Film Jaws
Jaws 2 is a classic American horror film made in 1978, and directed by Jeannot Szwarc. It is
about a police chief s duty to deal with a giant great white shark, yet again. It takes place on a
fictional ocean side resort, but was actually filmed in Marthas Vineyard, Massachusetts and Navarre
Beach, Florida.
This message, was most definitely made to entertain. From the deep slow to fast high pitched
sounds, and gargled screams from the great whites victims, this scene and entire movie sends chills
down your spine. It is all about the suspenseful thrill that made the story so successful.
The scene starts out as a bright backlit girl waterskiing to show joy, with a hint of mystery. The
camera flashes back to behind the girl, where a large dorsal fin slides out of the water. As it does

because of the slightly explicit content. Also maybe leaning towards the white judging by the entire
cast being white. One of the main stereotypes in the film is the overgeneralization of the great white
shark. This film portrays sharks as giant, mean human killing machines, when in reality they only
attack when threatened or mistake someone for prey. Someone younger and more gullible might
take this movie very seriously. This kind of thing could scar a small child permanently to be

comedy for unrealisticness of the facts about

Self-Reliance Vs Transcendentalism
Autonomy Being able to rely on one s own capabilities and judgements or resources is called self

This period was a direct reaction of the Age of Reason. The Transcendentalist era lasted from
about 1826 to 1860 and also ran as a part of the Age of Romance. During this time, the primary
beliefs were that people understood that God and everything going on was in direct correlation

Executive Summary
The Rohingya are the stateless minority people of Myanmar and have been residing there for a
long time. They have deprived citizenship as Myanmar government consider them as illegal
immigrants. So they are being deprived of many of the basic rights and being tortured for a long
time but the recent Ethnic Cleansing mission of the Myanmar government has severely destroyed
the Rohingya and forced them to leave the country.
Who are the Rohingya people?
The Rohingya are the minority people of Myanmar residing in the Rakhine state of the country.
They are the world s most harassed minority. Majority of the ethnic group are Muslim while some
of them are Hindu, who lived in Myanmar for centuries. They have been denied citizenship since
1982 in the Buddhist Southeast Asian country. There are 135 official ethnic groups in Myanmar but
the Rohingyas are not considered among them. Most of the Rohingya people live in the Western
coastal state of Rakhine and are not allowed to leave without permission from the government.
Though they have been living there for quite a long time they are deprived of the basic services and
opportunities of the country.
Origin
According to some authentic sources, Rohingyas have lived in Myanmar since as early as 8th
century. The Rohingyas say that they are the successors of Persian Arab Muslim traders, who came
to the country generations ago. During the British rule from 1824 to 1948, migration took place to

Comparison Of Robespierre And The French Revolution
In a time when France was fighting for natural rights and a separation from totalitarian rulers,
Maximilien Robespierre and the Committee for Public Safety believed the best way to advance
their goal was to temporarily enact the exact opposite of everything they were trying to achieve to
allow the country to recover from inner conflict. During a point when France was in a crisis
transitioning from monarchy, the Committee for Public Safety, led by Robespierre, took control of
the executive government. The period of Robespierre s rule has been given the nickname the Reign
of Terrorfrom rampant oppression, tyranny, and death in France throughout the period. The actions
of the government during the Terror opposed almost everything that the... Show more content on

One of the most prominent details of the Terror is the fact that thousands of people were sent to the
guillotine during this time period. Many of these unfortunate souls had done nothing wrong outside
of voicing their opinions. However, if Robespierre and the French government got word of this
person s actions and deemed their thoughts even just a little too radical or counter revolutionary,
they were executed. One of the most critical tenets of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution
was the freedom to voice one s opinion and not be punished or silenced by authority. This idea is
echoed in the tenth and eleventh articles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which state
that freedom of speech, the press, religion, etc. and the freedom to express one s opinions openly
are among the most important natural rights of men, and that those using this right should not
be silenced so long as their views aren t disrupting the order of society. However, while
Robespierre doesn t address these actions directly in his Report on the Principles of Political
Morality, he portrays the government s harsh actions on anyone who would hinder or abandon
the revolutionary cause as justice. While Robespierre may have been looking at his actions
through rose tinted glasses, the massacre of thousands of people for simply sharing their beliefs
clearly went against key principles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the Enlightenment,
and the French Revolution. The arrest of suspected individuals and execution of those voicing
their opinions are clear violations of man s natural rights, but even the nature of Robespierre s rule
alone could be seen as a breach of the National Assembly s view on man and society just years

A Women By Helen Cunningham Analysis
This essay is about a women by the name of Helen Cunningham. At her home, she has an open
door policy. This means she allows for strangers, friends, and exchange students to stay at her
home. The essay starts out with Helen making herself dinner at her home, and her new visitor
arrived early. Her new visitor was a Mexican artist who would stay three nights with her. His name
was Enrique. As they talk it seems although they are strangers, they have several similar interests.
Helen then goes on to explain that inviting strangers into her home is usual for her. Her family
always invited those in who needed a place to stay. Helen s mother came from Mexico, and was a
foreign exchange student. Her mother was so happy with her experience with her

Television And Race Essay
Race Televised: America s BabysitterAt some point in the course of human events, America decided
that the television was their Dali Lama, their cultural and spiritual leader. Overlooking its obvious
entertainment based purpose, Americans have let the television baby sit and rear their children. I
do not recall a manifesto from the television industry, but society put television in a role it does not
have authority in. The only thing television set out to do was provide the passive entertainment
American society wants. True, television does not accurately reflect race in America, but it is not
the job of the television industry to do so. Too much importance has been put on television to
provide guidanceand information that American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

African Americans are not alone. All minorities are depicted inaccurately. Asian Americans, for

Genocide Argument Analysis
The declaration that the Islamic State s (ISIS) atrocities against Middle East Christians are
genocide must be followed by action, a Chaldean bishop based in Detroit has demanded. During a
talk at the Catholic University of America on Nov. 17, Bishop Francis Y. Kalabat of the Eparchy
of St. Thomas the Apostle said the genocide declaration must be followed by concrete action. He
suggested setting up courts and programs to address the various kinds of trauma that the persecuted
Christians from the Middle East are facing, Crux relays. We need to proclaim, This is genocide, and
then do something about it, said Bishop Kalabat. When we do that, then we can set up courts and
set up programs to deal with the physical trauma, the emotional trauma

American Imperialism Dbq Essay
During the 1820s, America felt they had the God given right to expand westward. Later, they
adopted this concept, expanding to nations around the world bringing religion, industry, and
technology. This new concept was known as American Imperialism, the economic and cultural
influence of the United States on other countries, occurring between 1880 and 1920. During the age
of American Imperialism, America annexed Texas and Hawaii. They acquired Florida, Oregon
County, Alaska, the Louisiana Purchase, Puerto Rico, Philippines, and Guam. America provided
business and industry to colonies, brought civilization and religion, and had a duty to protect
nations of the western hemisphere. America s actions were justified during the age of American
Imperialism.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, President McKinley went down on his knees and prayed to the Almighty God for
light and guidance on his actions regarding the Philippines, only to come to the conclusion that
they could not leave Philippines to themselves; they were unfit for self government. America felt
that without their guidance, the Philippines would soon have anarchy and misrule. McKinley
had no other choice but to take them all, and to educate the Filipinos, and uplift and civilize and
Christianize them as our fellow men for whom Christ also died (Doc 4). The Philippines were in
desperate need of America s help. They were in need of the just, humane, civilizing government
from America as opposed to the savage, bloody, rule of pillage and extortion from which America
has rescued them (Doc 9). Without America s help, the Philippines would be stuck with an anarchy.
America provided civilization and education to colonies. Furthermore, America provided
missionaries to colonies full of people described as half devil, half child. The people of these
communities were immature with no religion; they needed help. Missionaries went forth to preach
a kingdom beyond this world, spreading religion. As other countries needed America s expertise,
America went forth and provided civilization, religion, and education to better the

Golden Age China Research Paper
Golden Age China had a greater cultural influence than did 21st century China, whereas 21st
century China has had a greater economic influence. There were many cultural benefits from the
Golden Era, including religion, fine arts, and innovations. As a result of the peace and stability
which formed during the Tang dynasty, Buddhismwas introduced and became a dominant religion
among the Chinese. Alongside the new religion, Taoism was also a major religion in China.
Through the bonding of these two religions, several other religions emerged, such as the Pure Land
Sect, Tian tai sect, and also Chan Buddhism. These new branches of the religions were called sects.
Along with religion, the fine arts were also a major part of Chinese life from the Golden Era.
Due to the influences of the Silk Road and prosperity of the Tang dynasty, China experienced a
time in which the fine arts were further developed. Sculptures, paintings, and the most prevalent of
Golden Age China, poetry, were created. Famous poets, such as Tu Fu and Li Bo, both of whom
are still sometimes believed today to be the greatest of Chinese poets in history, created some of the
most famous pieces of literature during the Tang dynasty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is done for a variety of reasons, such as for showing respect, apologizing, thanking others, and

off the evil energy found in tea called the Qi.
Another major influence that Golden Age China had was its innovations. During this time, new
techniques, a new form of currency, and tools were created. For example, block printing was
invented as a way of speeding up the printing process. Also, the use of paper money was
introduced so that coins would not have to be carried everywhere. The

Feminist movements, or Women s movements, campaign for reforms in household issues with domestic violence, political issues with equal pay, employment and maternity leave, and reproduction rights. All feminism movements fight for equal rights, but it cannot be conquered or be made known all at once. First wave feminism was mostly about women s suffrage and political equality in general whereas the second wave feminism went more in depth about the social and cultural inequalities. The first wave feminism was mostly about legal issues, specifically woman s suffrage, or the right to vote. Before women could even think about changing the government policies, they had to raise awareness. While some acts may have been passed, the feminist movement did not truly start until 1848 with the Seneca Falls Convention. In the early 1800s there were some reforms but not as much as the aftermath of the Seneca Falls Convention. Only one university, which was Oberlin College, had changed its ... From reading the scholarly work by Conway (1989) and Zuccotti (2005), it is seen that there has been a lot of criticism as to the Pope s effort to save Jewish people who were being murdered by the Nazi s prior to and during the holocaust. By looking at Zuccotti s work, it can be understood that whilst the Church and the Vatican s members did provide shelter to the Jewsthat were being attacked, it is seen that there was no instruction from the Pope himself at that time to help the Jews and thus these members were in essence behaving in a way that they believed would be approved by the Pope, as part of the ... However, it is vital to understand that although many high frequency words are also sight words, there is a difference. Sight words are typically words that students recognize immediately (within three seconds) and can read without having to use decoding skills. Ultimately, practicing such words would help students become confident and fluent readers as they would begin recognizing words by sight. • 5. Frederic Douglass Essay The United States of America is a country that was founded on the basic principles of freedom and liberty. This often leaves it with a reputation as a land full of hope, where anything is possible as long as one is willing to work hard for it. Unfortunately, this idea is not always true. Frederick Douglas, who was born a slave, did not have the privelege of this aforementioned freedom, liberty, and social mobility. Even though he was an exceptionally bright man, he was enslavedand persecuted because of his skin color. • 7. The Sociological Theory Of Criminology Criminologist breaks down crime in three ways Biological, Psychological, and lastly Sociological. The very first era that crime began to be discussed was during the Middle Ages, that s when many people believed that people could not conform to what was considered normal thinking of their society, where these people were labeled as witches or even possessed by what they may call satanic entities. Siegel (2010). The very beginning of criminology was noted with classical school of thought with Jeremy Bentham and Cesare Beccaria. Cesare theorized that crimes is in fact a product of what we call a ration choice or decision which can ultimately be controlled with certain methods. Fast forwarding to many years ahead criminologists then have expanded on compounded, and developed new ideas as to why people commit crime which include theories that point the finger to the main three biological, psychological, and sociological. Sigmund Freud established a well known psychoanalytic theory which were based solely on personality defects which then claimed that crime was caused by improper development during their early years. With such theories, it was said the criminal is not however responsible for their behavior directly. It is however blamed on nonconforming personality traits which include aggression, spontaneity, and dissonance. However, this is often hard to measure, and these theories have had little impact recidivism or deterring criminal actions (Akers Sellers, 2004). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How do you know that you are lactose intolerant? If you take fresh dairy products and diarrhoea or get stomach upsets like bloating, pain, or cramps, regurgitation, flatulence, or gas, borborygmi rumbling and gurgling in the stomach, nausea sometimes accompanied by vomiting, you could most likely be a victim. Characters reactions to the sound in Act II are telling. True to his being the archetypal modern man, the merchant Lopakhin is unfazed. The sound comes from somewhere very far away (804), he says. Since he is naturally destined for the new Russia, recognizing the sound is not important for him; he is already living in the new age. The symbolism of the string snapping is even more clear at the end of Act IV, when old Firs is left alone to die. The stage directions state that, after the sound of a snapped string dying mournfully away is heard, [a] stillness falls, and nothing is heard but the thud of an ax on a tree far away in the orchard (815). Nielsen is a valuable multipurpose tree for the humid tropics. One of the fastest growing of all tree species, it is used for pulp and other wood products, fuelwood, ornamental plantings and shade for coffee, tea and cattle. Potential uses for which it is being tested include alley farming and intercropping in forest plantations. BOTANY: Falcataria belongs to the Leguminosae (subfamily: Mimosoideae). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... USES: Falcataria is perhaps best known as a pulp crop (NAS 1979, Hu 1987). Other wood uses include fiber and particle board, packing cases, boxes, matches, chop sticks and light furniture. Wood is difficult to saw and not strong or durable. Its thin crown provides partial shade to coffee, tea, and cacao. It also is used as a windbreak for bananas. Trials in Hawaii have indicated its usefulness as an intercrop with eucalyptus, especially in wetter areas. After four years, eucalyptus grown with falcataria in a 50:50 mixture at a spacing of 2 x 2 m were 58% taller and 55% larger in DBH than in pure eucalyptus stands (Schubert 1985). In other trials with 34 and 50% falcataria, total biomass was equal to or better than that of pure stands (Schubert et al 1988). Falcataria also shows potential in alley farming. In a trial on acid soils (pH 4.2) in Indonesia, trees were managed in hedges 4 m apart and produced 2 3 dry tons of green leaf manure/ha/yr. Application of falcataria green leaf manure doubled upland rice yields and more than quadrupled cowpea yields as compared to control plots (Evensen et al 1987). In 1988, however, concerns surfaced about the longevity of falcataria in alley cropping systems (Evensen, pers. comm.). Falcataria also is grown as an ornamental, although it seldom lives more than 50 years (APCF 1987) and its brittle branches can be a problem in windy areas. Raharjo and Cheeke (1985) ... The realism combined with the powerful relationship between Bambi the 21 year old ex convict and his 4 year old son Day is what gave me so much empathy throughout the film. Personally I found that the film itself wasn t as strong as it could ve been because the plot was a bit of a let down but the overall theme of poverty and crime was exceptional. From start to finish I could tell that lighting was a key technique that Malik Vitthal used to portray such a dark atmosphere which was needed to visually show that the hood is the cruelest of prisons. I found that he would use subtle symbols in the background and setting to give this impression. For example in the opening scene although Bambi is now out of jail he is still surrounded by dingey wired fences, signs, buildings with bars over the top of the windows and this is ... • 31. Morality Is A Big Theme Throughout The Book Les Miserables C project Legality versus morality was a big theme throughout the book Les Miserables. Two of the main main characters, Javert and Jean Valjean conflict on that issue many times. Jean Valjean is a man of his morals rather than the law, whereas Javert is strictly about the law, and nothing else. Both of these characters face many legal and moral issues throughout the book. Jean Valjean looks into his morals when he is faced with a dilemma. The first time that this becomes apparent is the beginning of the book, when we learn why he is in jail. Valjean was faced with jail time because his family was struggling and starving and he thought is was morally okay to steal bread for his family even though it was illegal. Valjean stealing the bread even though it was illegal, but because his family needs it his morals say that it is okay for him to do so, showing legality versus morality. Another thing that Valjean does that demonstrate this theme is that when Javert tells Valjean(when he is mayor and going under the name of Madeleine) that someone has been caught under his name. If he decides to do nothing he will then face no legal troubles any more, but because of his morals he decides the right thing to do is to go to the court where this trail is taking place, and say that he is the real Valjean. He think it is immoral to let this man suffer for his actions, so he decides to reveal himself. Javert is the opposite of Valjean, and relies heavily on the legality side. In the ... • 32. The Contributions Of The Renaissance Period In The 14th... During the 14th century, Europe experienced famine, disease, death and major changes within the church and papacy. Kingdoms consolidated and the influence the Pope held over politics waned. Amid these crises, the people galvanized and made major advancements in what would come to be known as the Renaissance period. In 1301 King Philip IV ruled the Holy Roman empire in southern France. He employed civil servants rather than barons to govern, breaking away from the feudal system that had been in place and leading the county towards centralized administration. A feud between Phillip and Pope Boniface VII would lead to the French control of the papacy when the seat of power was moved to Avignon. After the conviction of a papal legate at the beginning of the century, Pope Boniface VII urged Phillip to give the Papacy jurisdiction over spiritual rule, espousing the notion that the papacy was meant to govern kings and that churchmen were to be held accountable to church courts rather than the royal court. Boniface also asserted that church funds were not to be used for state purposes. This began a running conflict between the King, who wanted total control, and the pope. After the death of Boniface s successor, French pope Clement V was elected. Clement decided to remain in France and held court in Avignon. Seven French popesreigned there until pope Gregory XI finally returned to Rome. The tension between the papacy and the kings of England and France was a recurrent theme ... • 45. Comparison Of Robespierre And The French Revolution In a time when France was fighting for natural rights and a separation from totalitarian rulers, Maximilien Robespierre and the Committee for Public Safety believed the best way to advance their goal was to temporarily enact the exact opposite of everything they were trying to achieve to allow the country to recover from inner conflict. During a point when France was in a crisis transitioning from monarchy, the Committee for Public Safety, led by Robespierre, took control of the executive government. The period of Robespierre s rule has been given the nickname the Reign of Terrorfrom rampant oppression, tyranny, and death in France throughout the period. The actions of the government during the Terror opposed almost everything that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most prominent details of the Terror is the fact that thousands of people were sent to the guillotine during this time period. Many of these unfortunate souls had done nothing wrong outside of voicing their opinions. However, if Robespierre and the French government got word of this person s actions and deemed their thoughts even just a little too radical or counter revolutionary, they were executed. One of the most critical tenets of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution was the freedom to voice one s opinion and not be punished or silenced by authority. This idea is echoed in the tenth and eleventh articles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which state that freedom of speech, the press, religion, etc. and the freedom to express one s opinions openly are among the most important natural rights of men, and that those using this right should not be silenced so long as their views aren t disrupting the order of society. However, while Robespierre doesn t address these actions directly in his Report on the Principles of Political Morality, he portrays the government s harsh actions on anyone who would hinder or abandon the revolutionary cause as justice. While Robespierre may have been looking at his actions through rose tinted glasses, the massacre of thousands of people for simply sharing their beliefs clearly went against key principles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the Enlightenment, and the French Revolution. The arrest of suspected individuals and execution of those voicing their opinions are clear violations of man s natural rights, but even the nature of Robespierre s rule alone could be seen as a breach of the National Assembly s view on man and society just years ... • 47. Television And Race Essay Race Televised: America s BabysitterAt some point in the course of human events, America decided that the television was their Dali Lama, their cultural and spiritual leader. Overlooking its obvious entertainment based purpose, Americans have let the television baby sit and rear their children. I do not recall a manifesto from the television industry, but society put television in a role it does not have authority in. The only thing television set out to do was provide the passive entertainment American society wants. True, television does not accurately reflect race in America, but it is not the job of the television industry to do so. Too much importance has been put on television to provide guidanceand information that American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 48. Genocide Argument Analysis The declaration that the Islamic State s (ISIS) atrocities against Middle East Christians are genocide must be followed by action, a Chaldean bishop based in Detroit has demanded. During a talk at the Catholic University of America on Nov. 17, Bishop Francis Y. Kalabat of the Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle said the genocide declaration must be followed by concrete action. He suggested setting up courts and programs to address the various kinds of trauma that the persecuted Christians from the Middle East are facing, Crux relays. We need to proclaim, This is genocide, and then do something about it, said Bishop Kalabat. For example, President McKinley went down on his knees and prayed to the Almighty God for light and guidance on his actions regarding the Philippines, only to come to the conclusion that they could not leave Philippines to themselves; they were unfit for self government. America felt that without their guidance, the Philippines would soon have anarchy and misrule. McKinley had no other choice but to take them all, and to educate the Filipinos, and uplift and civilize and Christianize them as our fellow men for whom Christ also died (Doc 4). The Philippines were in desperate need of America s help. They were in need of the just, humane, civilizing government from America as opposed to the savage, bloody, rule of pillage and extortion from which America has rescued them (Doc 9). Without America s help, the Philippines would be stuck with an anarchy. America provided civilization and education to colonies. Furthermore, America provided missionaries to colonies full of people described as half devil, half child. The people of these communities were immature with no religion; they needed help.
