This observational study assessed the efficacy of extracorporeal life-support (ECLS) compared to conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in adults experiencing in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA). Out of 975 patients analyzed, those receiving ECLS had a survival to discharge rate of 28.8%, compared to 12.3% for those receiving conventional CPR. The results suggest that ECLS may offer a survival advantage for patients with cardiac-origin IHCA who have undergone CPR for over 10 minutes.
