CPR Pro Review Sheet
                                         ADULT VICTIM

YOU SEE A VICTIM LYING ON THE FLOOR, WHO APPEARS TO BE UNCONSCIOUS.

   •   Check scene, put on gloves.
   •   Check victim for consciousness. (Tap and shout.)
   •   If no response, call 911 and request an AED.
   •   Check for signs of life (movement & breathing).
   •   Open airway, look, listen & feel for no more than 10 seconds.
   •   If there is no movement or breathing, give 2 rescue breaths causing chest to rise slowly.


Breaths DON’T go in
   •   Reposition the airway & try again
   •   If Breaths STILL don’t go in go to next bullet point below.
If breaths DO go in, skip to “Breaths go in” section below
   •   Start chest thrusts (5 distinct attempts to dislodge the object)
   •   Look inside the victim’s mouth, grasp tongue and lower jaw with thumb and lift lower jaw. (THIS
       IS a 2-HANDED MANUEVER.)
   •   If you see an object, remove it.
   •   Give 2 rescue breaths, whether an object is removed or not.


Breaths go in
   •   Check for severe bleeding
   •   Check pulse for no more than 10 seconds.
   •   If victim has a pulse (but no movement or breathing);
   •   Begin rescue breathing (1 breath every 5 seconds)
   •   Re-check pulse & breathing after 2 minutes


   •   If no pulse; begin CPR (30 compressions, 2 breaths)
   •   Continue giving CPR until one of the following occurs;
       -An AED becomes available                                  - You notice obvious signs of life
       - The scene becomes unsafe                                 - You are too exhausted to continue
       - Another trainer rescuer arrives and takes over

A cardiac emergency has been confirmed
AED arrives or becomes ready to use
    •   Place AED on floor on the same side of the victim you are on.
    •   Turn on AED
    •   Cut open shirt
    •   Wipe chest dry
    •   AED pas are placed on victim’s chest (upper right, lower left- 1 pad at a time)
    •   AED analyzes: Rescuer waves arm over victim, says” analyzing stand clear”
        INSURE THAT NO ONE (INCLUDING YOURSELF) IS IN CONTACT WITH VICTIM OR AED.
        PADS/AED ARE NOT MOVED OR TOUCHED DURING ANALYZE.
        SHOCK ADVISED
            •    Rescuer waves arm over victim, says, “Shocking, stand clear”
            •    Rescuer pushes SHOCK button
            •    AED analyzes: Rescuer waves arm over victim, says” analyzing stand clear”
            INSURE THAT NO ONE (INCLUDING YOURSELF) IS IN CONTACT WITH VICTIM OR AED.
            PADS/AED ARE NOT MOVED OR TOUCHED DURING SHOCKING.
            •
        NO SHOCK ADVISED
                 •   Begin CPR


        PADS ARE NOT REMOVED ONCE APPLIED
