9. 2. EARLY DIAGNOSIS
• Methods to determine in patients the nature of
a disease or disorder at its early stage of
progression. Generally, early diagnosis
improves PROGNOSIS and TREATMENT
OUTCOME.

18. DEODORANT
• A deodorant is a substance applied to the body
to prevent body odor caused by the bacterial
breakdown of perspiration in armpits, feet, and
other areas of the body

19. Hydrocyanic Acid Gas
• It is most effective fumigant, requiring very
useful handling, useful in destroying infected
rats that are found on board in the ships and in
the ware houses.

20. Disinfection of Air Craft
• It is carried out before the takeoff of the plane
after full loading of baggage, mail cargo,
passengers and crew.
• It is done with all opening completely closed
not more than 2 minutes before the takeoff.
• The aerosol bomb which is a pyreyhrum
mixture under high pressure, containing freon
is sprayed for 7 seconds which immediately
kill the insects.

21. HEAT
• Contaminated material subjected to boiling
water for a few minutes will kill all
pathogenic organisms except spores.

22. STEAM
• Current Steam: When steam is generated at
ordinal pressure at a temperature of 100 c and
is allowed to escape , it is called Current
Steam.
• Saturated Steam: When steam is generated
by boiling water in closed vessel e.g, in a
boiler or kettle, steam accumulates under
pressure is called Saturated Steam.

23. • Superheated Steam: If steam is heated
without raising the pressure and temperature of
the stream is highly raised , it is called
Superheated Steam.

24. 5. INVESTIGATION OF ATTACK
OF ILLNESS
It is the responsibility of health officer.
• To learn the exact date of illness.
• To determine the identity of those persons who
had contact with the patient during the period
of infectivity.
• To search for the source of infection like water
supply etc.
• To search for the history of any recent illness
in family and neighbours.

25. 6. IMMUNIZATION
It is the powerful measure for the control of
communicable diseases and is done in two ways.
• Immunization of the individual contacts.
• Mass Immunization in a community.

• The purpose of health education is to inform
the masses, concerning the principles of
preventive medicine and Public Health.
