The Creation of the Kite
The exact date and origin of the creation of the kite is unknown but historical evidence suggests that
they were flown in China about two thousand years ago. The earliest known account of kite flying was
around 200 B.C. when the General Han Hsin of the Han Dynasty flew a kite over the walls of a city
him and his troops were attacking to see how far his army would have to travel to reach past the
enemies defenses. Kite flying was soon spread by Chinese Kitestraders from China to Korea, and
through Asia to India. As it spread, people developed new ways of lying them and reasons for flying
them. Kites were introduced to Japan around approximately the 7th century by Buddhist monks. The
kites were used to repel evil spirits and to insure rich harvests. Kite flying soon became very popular
in Japan during the Edo period. For the first time Japanese civilians below the class of samurai were
allowed to fly kites. The Edo government tried to discourage this because people became unmindful of
their work. About three hundred years ago a thief was said to have used a large kite to carry himself to
the top of Nagoya Castle in order to steal a golden statue from the roof. He was only able to remove a
few small pieces .He was later captured and punished severely. The earliest evidence of kite flying in
India comes from paintings from the Mogul Period around the year 1500. There are a lot of stories
about how people of Micronesia used leaf kites to carry bait far out over the

The Critical Stage Of Persuasion
The term Persuasion originated directly from the Latin word, persuasionem, or, persuadere , meaning
to persuade, convince or from Old French, persuasion , meaning the act of inducing to believe. The
earliest manifestation of Persuasion in religion is seen in the Biblical prophet Jeremiah s speech in the
Old Testament to convince his people to believe in God, and to repent. A persuasive manner referred
to by rhetoricians as Jeremiad genre. Persuasion as an intellectual concept emerged with its roots
dating back to the study of, rhetoric, with Aristotle defining rhetoric as a capability of using
persuasion with reference to any subject (Aristotle, bk I, sec.II.2) while Cicero termed the orator s
duty to imbibe a style of talking that convinces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is often seen as a personality trait, which means that it may be stable and enduring involving a
variety of beliefs about the self, such as the judgment of one s own appearance, beliefs, emotions, and

According to one definition (Branden, 1969), there are three key components of self esteem: Self
esteem as an essential human need that is vital for survival and normal, healthy development. It arises
automatically from within based on a person s beliefs and consciousness. Self esteem occurs in
conjunction with a person s thoughts, behaviors, feelings, and actions. According to Abraham Maslow
s hierarchy of needs, the need for self esteem plays a key role, depicting it as one of the basic human
motivations. Maslow (1987) suggested that people need both esteem from other people as well as
inner self respect. Both must be fulfilled in order for a person to grow as an individual and achieve

prove his military expertise by turning a group of royal courtesans into a well trained military force.
The king was so shocked by Sun Zi when he beheaded two of the king s favourite in front everyone to

importance of positioning in military strategy. Decision of positioning an army which must be based

determine and deepen the meaning of known, unknown, and multiple meaning words, phrases, and

For many of the students in my class, vocabulary instruction is of chief importance to their reading
comprehension and their understanding of larger concepts discussed in class. The standard I am
choosing to discuss is one I implement weekly, if not daily, in my lessons because without the skills
and strategies to learn new words and understand the various meanings of words and phrases, students

If they still don t understand the word, they can ask me and I ll prompt them or help them accordingly.
This strategy also helps students to take charge of their own learning, and to learn what ways work
best for them. Many of my students feel the need for constant validation and are always asking is this
what I should write? before answering a question. This best practice allows students to build efficacy
in their ability to impact their own learning. Students also tend to take more pride in their knowledge
of these new vocabulary words when they ve uncovered the meaning themselves. We often do visual
vocabulary, where students teach a new word to the class using pictures, gestures, or other visual
representations. In this way, their learning is social and students are able to learn from each other. For
example, for our current unit on 1984 by George Orwell, students are creating visual representations
of the major thematic vocabulary words (like surveillance and totalitarianism) and then adding the
vocabulary words from the chapters that fit with those words. The students can choose what words go

Hannah Slish English Period 11 12/12/17 Love, Support, and Care Teenagers can t be thrown around

The Success And Success Of A Small Business Owner
The goal of the majority of corporations, primarily the small businesses, is the continuous
improvements in the manner in which they operate every year. This is a difficult feat many business
owners find to be very difficult and challenging. The life of a small business owner is one filled with
many challenges, both big and small. Many factors will determine the levels of confidence and
success that a small business will experience. The small business optimism index consists of results
compiled by a survey of small business owners, conducted on a monthly basis by the National
Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). The surveys components are the result of ten factors that
affect the success and progress of every business owner. These factors include: plans to increase
employment, plans to make capital outlays, plans to increase inventories, expect economy to improve,
expect real sales higher, current inventory, current job openings, expected credit conditions, now a
good time to expand, and earnings trend. (MyPivots, 2010). Those factors assist the NFIB in analyzing
and predicting a small businesses potential vitality, and their influence on the stock market. Although
these factors seem to be comprehensive, many other factors also exist that could go overlooked which
could be included and aide in presenting a much more comprehensive view for the Optimism s report.
Some of those factors will be focused on are consumer confidence, interest rates and inflation.

Victoria s Secret Thesis Statement
Victoria s Secret is a retail chain of lingerie, beauty supplies, and fragrances. The purpose of the line is
to make females feel sexy, powerful, and young. They do not have a lot of lingerie for the more
voluptuous females; however, what they do have makes the lady feel sexy and confident. Victoria s
Secret was created by a man men know how they want their women to look like so he took his
imagery of beautiful women to make his lingerie line. The images of this ad include four females in
their bra and panties holding each other. There is a gray background with the words I Love My Body.
When looking at this ad, one may see just that only four girls displaying lingerie. However, there is so
much to this picture than what meets the human eye. To some it may seem like it is nothing, they are
just posing; however, some may change the meaning because they are in their bra and panties. All the

There have been arguments against whether or not gay, and lesbianism, marriage and relationships
should be accepted. Some may argue that it should that one should be happy no matter whom they are
with. On the other hand, others argue that it is just not right. They refer to the Bible and say that this is
not what God wanted. In present day, society has come to accept female on female action as long as it
is in a sexual nature. Our society finds that when a female is attracted and being intimate with another
female that it is attractive. However, when male on male actions occur it is only tolerated in society,
and not even as much as it could be. There is an understood do not ask do not tell policy when it
comes to gay men. If it were four men in this ad holding each other this would be considered
homosexual, but because these are beautiful women in lingerie, this is fine. There is a very thin, yet
acceptable, line that the Victoria s Secret ads tread

following are three things to understand about reptiles as pets. Their natural environment is much
different than ours Dogs and cats can adapt quite nicely to the temperatures that we enjoy. But reptiles
are cold blooded animals and need the sun to heat up their body temperature. This usually means a

Monarch Butterfly Research Paper
When people think of a monarch butterfly they think of a small creature with wings and antennae. But
monarch butterflies are way more than that. They have beautiful colors, they go through
metamorphosis to become the beautiful butterflies they are, and they travel across the country. This is
why I believe monarch butterflies are amazing creatures.
How they become a monarch Monarchs are amazing creatures because they go threw the process of
metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is the transformation of an immature form (caterpillar) into an adult
form or adult stage (butterfly). The Monarchs lay their eggs on milkweed which is the plant they eat.
Monarch butterflies do not have a live birth they are born in eggs. When the eggs hatch the larvae
come out of the shell and eat the eggshell they hatched from and they eat the milkweed the eggs were
laid on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Larvae have three distinct body parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen. Their head is equipped with a
pair of antennae, an upper lip, mandibles, a lower lip, and six simple eyes called ocelli. Even with
many eyes their vision is still poor. But that is what their antennae are for. The Monarchs antennae
help them guide them because of their poor sight. The antennae are also helpful for eating. This is
because the antennae help guide the food into the butterflies jaws. During the larvae, pupa, or
caterpillar stage the butterflies only live on Milkweed plants. The Milkweed plants glycogen toxins
which don t have any effect on the Monarchs, but this plant is poisonous to the Monarchs predators.
Monarchs eat all sections of the milkweed plant and they store the toxins in their bodies. Adult
Monarchs eat nectar from a big range of flowers, including the milkweed.

Undocumented Immigrants Essay
Why Illegal Immigrants Should Be Granted Amnesty Whether to grant illegal immigrants full amnesty
or not is a very controversial and important question in today s society. As David Decrosse explains,
amnesty means, lifting a penalty associated with an entire class of people who have violated a law.
Some people might think that American authority deporting illegal immigrants with little
repercussions is amnesty, but full amnesty would mean letting the immigrants stay in America and
have a regulated job. If amnesty is granted the economy would benefit, it is morally right, and it would
not hurt the society in any way. If American society grants illegal immigrants full amnesty it will help
the economy. As James Dywer, an immigrant researcher states, illegal immigrants often perform the
worst work for the lowest wages. Illegal aliens are usually desperate for a job, sometimes to the point
that they take on more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything is against undocumented immigrants, they can be easily taken advantage of, don t get any
benefits, and more often than not they don t have a lot of money. In spite of all this they are not a big
crime problem. According to Ron Unz, not including deportations, illegal immigrant s, incarceration
rates are now between 13 and 31 percent above the white average, depending upon which age range
we choose for normalization purposes. Illegal immigrants are arrested only a fraction more than white
americans. This is very good, especially considering that they have a bigger reason to do a crime
because of their poverty and that they sometimes are discriminated against. As Hispanics in general,
and illegal immigrants, have been getting more money, their crime rates are going down (Unz). This
means if amnesty is given the crime rates of illegal immigrants would further plummet because they
will have more money and less reason to do

Sears Core Competencies Examined
All companies have core competencies that they use to differentiate their company, product, or service
from the competition, Sears is no exception. Also, it is common for a company s core competencies to
change, as their industry progresses through phases and shifts its emphasis between product and
process innovations (Regis University, 2011), Sears is no exception. Yet, when a company s core

By 1895, Sears s mail order business was gaining market acceptance and the Sears catalog expanded
to 532 items consisting of soup to nuts products for their customers (Sears Archive, 2012), supporting
the theory that early innovators do not have a restriction on what they bring to market (Innovation
Zen, 2006). Sears s core competencies are innovation, selling, advertising, and merchandising (Sears
Archive, 2012).
By 1906 Sears was operating the largest mail order plant in the world, but that necessitated that the
company s focus shift from design dominance to products and process. Sears has entered the
transitional stage of the Abernathy Utterback Model. Sears is tasked with the need to handle mass
orders economically and efficiently, and develops the time scheduling system , which brings chaos to
the mail order industry and defines a significant core competence (Sears Archive, 2012). Around the
same time, Sears s customers are shifting their focus to quality, which drives the need to replace the
fancy Sears catalog with a factual based catalog. Sears s core competencies are innovation, mail order
process, quality products, perceived value, and factual based advertisement (catalog).
By 1920, the landscape is changing from rural dwellers to city dwellers and people living in cities
outnumber rural dwellers for the first time. Sears has emerged as the dominant design of mail order for
both rural and city dwellers, but increasing competition from

Ben Moy s The Attraction Of Men And Women
The Attraction of Men and Women All animals including humans have the ability to be sexually
attractive. This is called sex appeal, the potential to interest or excite others by appearance, style, or
charm. Sexual attraction is used for finding a potential mate. In the book, The Real Science of Sex
Appeal, the team from HowStuffWorks.com claims that since puberty we have tried to present
ourselves as attractive as possible to find the perfect mate. Humans attempt to make themselves more
appealing by using the rudimentary skills of staying in shape, dressing well, and smelling decent. But
being sexually attractive has a great deal more to it than just those few things. Studies have shown that
sex appeal is biologically programmed into humans brains. Some senses play an immense role in sex

Cara Di Yanni a psychology professor from Rider University believes that attraction can be based off
more than just genetics. In Ben Moy s article, The science of sex appeal; The ideal man and woman,
Di Yanni agreed that, We are biologically predisposed to find certain aspects of humans to be
attractive, and others are most definitely learned. She gives examples of how men find that women
with long hair, large breasts, a healthy weight, and an hour glass shape. These all indicate fertility and
the capability to give birth. Women tend to be enticed by men with money, and this can explain why
women seem picky. When it comes to women dating they calculate everything about men including
their money. Unlike men, having sex can be pricier for women because they may end up pregnant and
must carry a child for nine months, and care for it years after birth. Women wanting men with money

Why did Scorpia put poison in the vaccines for yellow fever? I think they did it because when people
start dying they can say it was us who did it. Just so other countries will be more afraid of them and
what else they might do in the future that other countries could prepare for. I also presume that Scorpia
did it for power they wanted everyone to know that they are the most fearsome. My following
question is why did Alex want to join Rothman? My response to that is Alex wanted to be one of the
leaders of Scorpia. I also conceive that Alex wants to be on the good side of her because if he is on her
bad side he could get killed. I also believe that Alex wants to join Rothman so that he can be one of
the leaders and that way he can try to take down Scorpia. My last question is why did Alex decide to
go back to M16? I think that Alex went back because he knows deep down inside that that is not who
he is: Alex had felt My next reason is that a weird feeling deep down inside (Horowitz 354). My last

Examples Of Social Class In Great Expectations
Social and Moral View of Victorian Society Through
The Great Expectations
Introduction:
This project is about the social and moral view of Victorian society through the author of many
acclaimed novels Charles Dickens s Great Expectations. Social view is basically relating to society or
its organization and moral is concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior. Dickens was
not only the first great urban novelist in England, but also one of the most important social
commentators who used fiction effectively to criticize economic, social, and moral abuses in the
Victorian era. Dickens showed compassion and empathy towards the unguarded and disadvantaged
segments of English society, and contributed to several important social reforms. Dickens s deep ...

He used symbolism and imagery to show various social problems prevailing in society like class
discrimination. Social class determined the way or the manner in which a person was treated that is
according to his class and access to education .In The Great Expectations, a person s social class
shows the amount of education they had. It is important to perceive this relationship between
education and social class to distinctly understand the worth of social class. A person like Joe who was
a common blacksmith had no education at all. On the other side, Pip, in the early days when he
belonged to low class, had poor education at a small school. The school was not one of the best
schools, but it s all that the lower class had for them. The teacher spent more time sleeping than
teaching. Another example of how social class affects education is the distinction of education
between the two convicts. Magwitch, born poor and a low class had no education at all while
Compeyson who was born rich, a high class and a gentleman with an excellent education. Education
was a important factor in showing how Social class really greatly determined people s lives. Though
Social class too determined many other qualities but

The mere presence of antisocial behavior is not sufficient...
The mere presence of antisocial behavior is not sufficient to diagnose a person with antisocial
personality disorder. In order to be diagnosed with this disorder one must display a pattern of violation
of other s rights and of disrespectful behavior, which appear after the age of 15. This individual will
also display some behavioral problems so called before the age of 15 such as conduct disorder. The
individual must be at least 18 years old. The occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively
during the course of Schizophrenia or a Manic Episode. In addition, according to DSM V diagnosis of
antisocial personality disorder can be made only if a person meet at least the three of the following
criteria s: 1) failure to comply with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Cecley(1988) people with Antisocial Personality Disorder have congenital inability to
understand and express emotional experience despite proper understanding of the language. Thus, a
person suffering from antisocial personality disorder could not understand that their behavior cause
suffering, they are not able to develop conscience and are deprived of empathy and remorse. Other
researchers indicate reduced activity in the frontal lobes of the brain. These lobes are responsible for
executive functions: long term planning, prioritizing objectives, assessment and concentration of
attention. EEG pattern in individuals manifesting antisocial behavior resembles that in young children.
This may indicate that the physical presence of a delay in the maturity of the brain. People with
antisocial personality disorder also have difficulty in achieving the state of physical arousal their heart
rate remain unchanged or does not increase until the last minute. They also have no fear so they take
action despite the risk. Literature also draws attention to the relationship between high levels of
testosterone and antisocial behavior. There are also publications (Cloninger, Reich, Guze, 1978;
Grove, Eckert, Hestory, 1990) that indicate a genetic basis for antisocial and criminal behavior. For
example: studies of adopted children whose biological parents were characterized by antisocial
behavior, show that children are more likely to exhibit such behavior.

Sonnet 73 Metaphors
In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 73, the speaker claims that through recognizing life s brevity, love
can be made stronger, and more permanent, by learning to appreciate the limited time each person has
left. Shakespeare establishes this argument by developing three metaphors comparing a succinct
amount of time to life. The first metaphor compares the seasons of a year to stages of life. The second
quatrain contains the next metaphor comparing the sun s journey across the sky to the speaker s
lifetime. And the final metaphor, found in the third quatrain, compares the glow of a fire to a lifetime.
Shakespeare s choice of applying shorter periods of time being compared to the speaker s lifetime
emphasizes the brevity of a person s life.

The tone strengthens the metaphor in this quatrain through adding emphasis that the speaker is still
reminiscing about what he has lost and has yet to look towards what the future holds.
The speaker starts the second quatrain, again, telling the listener to witness in him the approach of old
age. The extended metaphor in the second quatrain compares the sun s journey across the sky to the
speaker s lifetime. The speaker tells the listener that they can see the twilight of such day, as after
sunset fadeth in the west , or the aging of the speaker after the brightness and energy of his youth have
started to fade just like the sun does as it approaches the end of its journey. The speaker continues with
which by and by black night doth take away , black night signifying old age taking away what little
remains of the speaker s youthfulness, and the eventual passing away of the speaker. A shift in tone
occurs here from somber to one of forlorn as the speaker recognises that he will eventually die. The
speaker finishes the metaphor by explicitly saying the dark of night represents Death s second self,
that seals all up in rest. Night in the metaphor seals up all in eternal rest through death. The rhyme
between day and away draws attention to the number of days the speaker has left are diminishing. The
image of the diminishing number of days builds on the depressed tone already expressed in the
quatrain by emphasizing the certainty of

This support was necessary for long term success. Therefore, management should actively explore its
relationships with all stakeholders in order to develop business strategies.
For the most part these developments had a relatively small impact on the management theories of the
time. However, fragments of the stakeholder concept survived and developed within four distinct
management research streams over the next twenty years. Indeed, it was by pulling together these
related stakeholder concepts from the corporate planning, systems theory, corporate social
responsibility and organizational theory that the stakeholder approach crystallized as a framework for
strategic management in the 1980 s. What follows is a brief summary of these building blocks of
stakeholder theory.
The Corporate Planning Literature
The corporate planning literature incorporated a limited role for stakeholders in the development of
corporate strategy. Ansoff s classic book Corporate Strategy (1965) illustrated the importance of
identifying critical stakeholders. However, stakeholders difference is that the early use of the
stakeholder idea was not particularly oriented towards the survival of the firm. Slinger s argument can
be found in his doctoral dissertation, Stakeholding and Takeovers: Three Essays, University of
Cambridge, forthcoming in 2001. An abridged version is in Spanning the Gap: The Theoretical
Principles Connecting Stakeholder Policies to Business Performance ,

Romeo And Juliet Dialectical Journal
Creative Title
Imagine if you were walking down the aisle on your wedding day which is meant to be the best day
ever, but the person at the end is a stranger. How would you like if the day you have been waiting all
your life is just practically handed to you and isn t even what you wanted or who you wanted to be
with. Well, this is actually how some people s lives happen for them. Such as they have no say in who
they marry because their parents are in control of it all. In Romeo and Juliet this is the same situation
that Juliet and Paris went through in the story. Like how Juliet s parents wanted her to marry Paris at
the age of fourteen. Juliet s family was for arranging marriage since they were arranged when they got
married, but on the other hand Juliet was very against the whole idea of marrying at fourteen,
especially since she was very in love with Romeo even though their two families hated each other.
This caused a lot of problems with Juliet s family and that she would have to ... Show more content on

This is a big deal when things are arranged for people even though some people don t see it. For
example, Tim Arango stated, I tried to kill myself, she said. I did not want to get married. I was forced
to get engaged (Arango). This is showing how the amount of stress put on people can have severe
endings leading to death. In like manner Arango also stated that, Officials are alarmed by what they
described as a worsening epidemic of suicides, particularly among young women tormented by being
forced to marry to young, to someone they do not love . So even though some people do realize the
amount of stress put on people it is still necessary that everyone needs to realize what could happen if
you force something to happen when it s not meant to be. It s clear now that if you are doing this to
someone that you could have more severe things happen that you need to keep in

The Causes Of Climate Change And The Reality Of Climate...
Human activity that impacts climate change is the main argument in the debate regarding the reality of
climate change. A consensus agreed upon many scientists is that Earth s climate is changing
tremendously and humans are to blame for the change. The scientific evidence supporting these claims
has grown and become reinforced in the past fifty years due to the arrival of computer models, ice
core samples, and years of research to the causation of climate change (Rich and Warhol 2).
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Earth s average temperature has
increased by about 1.2°F (0.67°C) since 1900. Current models suggest that the next century will see
an increase of as much as 10.4°F (5.78°C). This might not sound like a lot, but when you figure that a
temperature drop of about 8° (4.44°C) would cover most of Europe in ice, it s easy to comprehend the
gravity of the situation (Rich and Warhol 3).
In addition to the rise in Earth s average temperature, a rise also exists in the amounts of greenhouse
gases emitted into Earth s atmosphere. There is now a widespread agreement that there is a causal
relationship between carbon dioxide levels and warming global temperatures. The issue at hand is
whether activities of mankind have upset a delicate balance of nature meant to prevent the atmosphere
from being supersaturated with carbon dioxide (Lee and Morley 2). Carbon dioxide, the fourth most
plentiful gas in the atmosphere, is believed to be the

Science and Technology has played a huge role in upgrading human life. Although, some say that
Science and poetry are like two sides of a coin but as a matter of fact these two are related. For

thoughts and views. There are many forms of poetry like Haiku, Acrostic, Concrete, Free Verse and
Rhyming. There is a difference between traditional and modern poetry. Traditional poetry has a
specific format like Sonnets and follows rhyme scheme. On the other hand, modern poetry is more
free verse and has no defined rhyme scheme and format. Hafeez Jalandhari was a Pakistani writer,

Storm Descriptive Writing
The creepypasta
The channel s surfed by in a constant stream of nonsense and commercials, nothing good is ever on in
the AM. Still somehow tv seemed more entertaining than being out on this summer night. A snap of
heat lightning took my attention. Looking through the window next to the tv, the moon was barely
breaking the tree line as the clouds quickly passed. The warm air smelt like it was carrying in a storm.
Some other smell lingered with it, something like... An old man s breath? The house started to rumble
with the first signs of thunder. I guess it was a good idea to stay in tonight after all. Shutting the
window I noticed something out of place, a tooth on the sill?! It looked like.. a molar. How? I started

The window sill flashed with a sudden burst of light another rumble shook the house. Without a
second thought I lifted the screen and flicked the foul thing, slamming the window shut before the rain
decided to start falling. How could that tooth have gotten there? Wasting no time I hurried to make
sure no other portal s were left open to let the weather in. As I walked further away from the window I
could still smell something, the old man s breath... It almost seemed to be getting stronger and
uniquely intense. Making my way through the house the smell was consistent room to room. Finally I
made my way to the bathroom just to check my mouth out of paranoia. When I looked in the mirror
everything seemed fine, one of my top left teeth fell onto the sink bouncing off the rim and onto the
floor. I couldn t believe it. I heard some sort of scuttling accompanied with soft dark whispers but
couldn t focus. As I stared at my tooth I could feel the warm trickle of blood starting to hit my tongue.
The bathroom door slowly started opening, but only slightly. No one s supposed to be here for another
few days? A small ash black almost translucent hand appeared feeling the bathroom floor as if it was
someone lying down. I had no

Employee Performance And Achievement Of Organisational Goals
1 Introduction: 1.1 Background: Employee behaviours could often have an impact on organisational
performance and achievement of organisational goals. In any organisation, its members could display
varied behaviour where minimalists would contribute just enough to maintain affiliation while others
may exhibit overt and discretionary behaviour which is beyond their stipulated job description and
likely to benefit the organisation (Turnipseed and Rassuli: 2005). This latter behaviour where the
employee goes the extra mile proactively engaging in such activities has been described by various
nomenclatures such as Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) by Organ (1988) as cited in
Organ (1997), pro social organisational behaviour (Brief and Motowidlo: 1986), contextual
performance (Borman and Motowidlo: 1993) and extra role behaviour (Van Dyne et al: 1995). OCB
has been one of the important and popular research subjects in the recent years. It emphasizes on the
most preferred employee level outcomes at workplace (Bateman and Organ 1983, Smith et al 1983,
Anderson and Williams: 1996). Although the concept of OCB was proposed by Bateman and Organ in
the early 1980s, the origins of this concept could be traced back to early 1960s when Katz recognized
three distinct behavioural entities for the proficient functioning of an organisation. This includes
induction and retention of the workforce in the organisation, employees performing specific
dependable job roles in addition to

Vizio Swot Analysis
As Vizio tries to introduce a new line of products into a mature industry i.e. televisions and computers,
it faces many challenges such as being accepted, comparable to its successful competitors and finding
and filling a niche. In the words of William Wang, CEO, Vizio, We re here to make innovative
technology a commodity. We re not here to build a cheap product; we re here to make the product
affordable. Vizio s strengths lie in its existing distribution and sales networks, reduced labor costs,
monetary assistance provided, a skilled workforce, high profitability and revenue and experienced
business units. Its weaknesses are its cost structure, small business units, limited productivity, tax
structure, the unknown, competitive market, costs, investments in research and development, future
competition and the possibility of high loan rates. Vizio s strategy essentially revolves around trying to

Potential threats could be government regulations, external business risks, rising cost of raw materials,
an increase in labor costs, tax changes, price changes, growing competition and lower profitability.
Vizio is also faced with risks of being copied or sued for copying if it cannot find a way to
differentiate itself from other competitors and entrants in the market. Besides, since Vizio sources
about 80% its products from AmTran, its performance is closely reliant on AmTran. As soon as
AmTran is struck by disruptions or stops funding Vizio, the company would see hardship. In addition,
the profitable relationship between Vizio and AmTran was based on and further improved by William
Wang s personal relationship with top management officials of AmTran. I think frauds may arise in

Essay on Racial Preferences and the Constitution
Racial Preferences and the Constitution
The Constitution has survived two World Wars, a Civil War, and even slavery. This piece of paper was
written to limit government in our lives and proclaim our rights as individuals. Through the course of
time, Amendments have been added to aid in current events that were not foreseen when the
Constitution was originally written. Sixteen presidents after the Constitution was written, slavery was
abolished and the Thirteenth Amendment was passed.. Three years later came the Equal Protection
clause in the Fourteenth Amendment and two years after that, the Supreme Court addressed voting
rights in the Fifteenth Amendment.
The decisions in Plessy and Brown are similar because of how ... Show more content on

Does the new standard mean that the Court has adopted a color blind theory of equal protection,
holding in effect that any racial classification by the government is unconstitutional, that no
governmental unit may take race into account except to cure a plain constitutional violation of equal
protection? Has the Court overruled Regents v. Bakke, the charter for affirmative action in higher
education?
In Bakke v Regents of the University of California, we have a landmark reverse discrimination case
that influenced education as a whole. Bakke was rejected from graduate school even though he had
superior scores than many of the African American applicants who were admitted. Bakke challenged
the University of California and overturned the quota system that had been established in public
universities across the nation. The University of California held on to the belief that black people
should have access to black doctors. However, if the University were to go on a sole merit system then
the number of special admittees would diminish along with the aforementioned belief. This belief was
quickly altered by the Supreme Court with their decision against the University.
While the approach the Courts use is meant to be color blind, the outcome is anything but color blind.
This can be seen through an examination of the equal protection jurisprudence of Justice O Connor,
the pivotal swing vote on these issues in the last decade and author of the

Twelfth Night Trickster Quotes
In the play Twelfth Night , Shakespeare presents many tricksters. In fact, the majority of the characters
can somewhat be characterized as a trickster. Some characteristics that you would see in a trickster are
that they are intelligent, ambiguous, deceitful, and self serving. In the play Twelfth Night some
characters that you would classify as tricksters are Viola, Feste, Maria, Sir Toby Belch, and Sir
Andrew Aguecheek. Some tricksters are of higher class/rank while others are of lower class/servants.
In Twelfth Night , the tricksters are used to develop conflict, challenge social order, and create
comedy.

Cesario is really Viola in disguise. This is another example of how Sir Andrew s main purpose in the
story is just for the laughs. Aguecheek is one of the duller, unintelligent characters of Twelfth Night. It

Theory, An Optimal Executive Compensation Scheme Essay
In theory, an optimal executive compensation scheme overcomes the principal agent problem by
aligning the interests of executives and shareholders, and subsequently providing executives an
incentive to maximise shareholder value. Furthermore, an executive compensation scheme must be
sufficient to attract and retain the appropriate executive. According to Bognanno (2014), restricted
stocks and stock options are the most common forms of equity based compensation schemes, with
stock options accounting for almost half of US CEO compensation in 2000. Since economic agents
respond to incentives, the intuition behind equity based compensation schemes is that providing
executives with a form of compensation that is tied with the performance of the company, will provide
an incentive for the executive to maximise shareholder value. For instance, assume an executive is
provided with a stock option of 100 stocks with a strike price of $10, the executive will only receive a
payoff if the stock price is above $10 (see Figure 1). If the stock price is above the strike price, the
executive is able to exercise the option by purchasing the stock at $10 and selling the stock on the spot
market. Since the executive has an incentive to maximise his or her payoff, the executive s interests
are in theory, aligned with shareholders and the executive is expected undertake activities which
maximises shareholder value.
DiPrete et al. (2010) suggest that executive compensation practices cannot be

  • 2. The Creation of the Kite The exact date and origin of the creation of the kite is unknown but historical evidence suggests that they were flown in China about two thousand years ago. The earliest known account of kite flying was around 200 B.C. when the General Han Hsin of the Han Dynasty flew a kite over the walls of a city him and his troops were attacking to see how far his army would have to travel to reach past the enemies defenses. Kite flying was soon spread by Chinese Kitestraders from China to Korea, and through Asia to India. As it spread, people developed new ways of lying them and reasons for flying them. Kites were introduced to Japan around approximately the 7th century by Buddhist monks. The kites were used to repel evil spirits and to insure rich harvests. Kite flying soon became very popular in Japan during the Edo period. For the first time Japanese civilians below the class of samurai were allowed to fly kites. The Edo government tried to discourage this because people became unmindful of their work. About three hundred years ago a thief was said to have used a large kite to carry himself to the top of Nagoya Castle in order to steal a golden statue from the roof. He was only able to remove a few small pieces .He was later captured and punished severely. The earliest evidence of kite flying in India comes from paintings from the Mogul Period around the year 1500. There are a lot of stories about how people of Micronesia used leaf kites to carry bait far out over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This best practice allows students to build efficacy in their ability to impact their own learning. We often do visual vocabulary, where students teach a new word to the class using pictures, gestures, or other visual representations. In this way, their learning is social and students are able to learn from each other. For example, for our current unit on 1984 by George Orwell, students are creating visual representations of the major thematic vocabulary words (like surveillance and totalitarianism) and then adding the vocabulary words from the chapters that fit with those words. The students can choose what words go where, and what visuals make the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The character Johnny Cade wanted to kill himself because of his parents ignoring him and fighting with each other. Being pushed around, hit, and ignored enough to want to kill yourself is too far. I think I like it better when the old man s hitting me. (ch 3) It s sad to hear a kid the age of sixteen prefer getting beat by his own father just to know that he s there. Due to the fact that the casinos targeted by both DHvKA and Dritte Zug had zero tolerance policies for not allowing pets inside, Tanja had to be given a specially made Mk I b Fackelträger suit, custom tailored to fit her canine figure. For her protection, the researchers at St. Margaret s Cellar developed a prototype Fackelträger suit, the Mk I H (the H denoting the word Hund , or dog in German). Undocumented Immigrants Essay Why Illegal Immigrants Should Be Granted Amnesty Whether to grant illegal immigrants full amnesty or not is a very controversial and important question in today s society. As David Decrosse explains, amnesty means, lifting a penalty associated with an entire class of people who have violated a law. Some people might think that American authority deporting illegal immigrants with little repercussions is amnesty, but full amnesty would mean letting the immigrants stay in America and have a regulated job. If amnesty is granted the economy would benefit, it is morally right, and it would not hurt the society in any way. The second quatrain contains the next metaphor comparing the sun s journey across the sky to the speaker s lifetime. This support was necessary for long term success. Therefore, management should actively explore its relationships with all stakeholders in order to develop business strategies. For the most part these developments had a relatively small impact on the management theories of the time. However, fragments of the stakeholder concept survived and developed within four distinct management research streams over the next twenty years. Indeed, it was by pulling together these related stakeholder concepts from the corporate planning, systems theory, corporate social responsibility and organizational theory that the stakeholder approach crystallized as a framework for strategic management in the 1980 s. What follows is a brief summary of these building blocks of stakeholder theory. The Corporate Planning Literature The corporate planning literature incorporated a limited role for stakeholders in the development of corporate strategy. A consensus agreed upon many scientists is that Earth s climate is changing tremendously and humans are to blame for the change. The scientific evidence supporting these claims has grown and become reinforced in the past fifty years due to the arrival of computer models, ice core samples, and years of research to the causation of climate change (Rich and Warhol 2). According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Earth s average temperature has increased by about 1.2°F (0.67°C) since 1900. Current models suggest that the next century will see an increase of as much as 10.4°F (5.78°C). In addition to the rise in Earth s average temperature, a rise also exists in the amounts of greenhouse gases emitted into Earth s atmosphere. There is now a widespread agreement that there is a causal relationship between carbon dioxide levels and warming global temperatures. When I looked in the mirror everything seemed fine, one of my top left teeth fell onto the sink bouncing off the rim and onto the floor. I couldn t believe it. I heard some sort of scuttling accompanied with soft dark whispers but couldn t focus. As I stared at my tooth I could feel the warm trickle of blood starting to hit my tongue. The bathroom door slowly started opening, but only slightly. No one s supposed to be here for another few days? A small ash black almost translucent hand appeared feeling the bathroom floor as if it was someone lying down. I had no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Employee Performance And Achievement Of Organisational Goals 1 Introduction: 1.1 Background: Employee behaviours could often have an impact on organisational performance and achievement of organisational goals. In any organisation, its members could display varied behaviour where minimalists would contribute just enough to maintain affiliation while others may exhibit overt and discretionary behaviour which is beyond their stipulated job description and likely to benefit the organisation (Turnipseed and Rassuli: 2005). This latter behaviour where the employee goes the extra mile proactively engaging in such activities has been described by various nomenclatures such as Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) by Organ (1988) as cited in Organ (1997), pro social organisational behaviour (Brief and Motowidlo: 1986), contextual performance (Borman and Motowidlo: 1993) and extra role behaviour (Van Dyne et al: 1995). OCB has been one of the important and popular research subjects in the recent years. It emphasizes on the most preferred employee level outcomes at workplace (Bateman and Organ 1983, Smith et al 1983, Anderson and Williams: 1996). Although the concept of OCB was proposed by Bateman and Organ in the early 1980s, the origins of this concept could be traced back to early 1960s when Katz recognized three distinct behavioural entities for the proficient functioning of an organisation. This includes induction and retention of the workforce in the organisation, employees performing specific dependable job roles in addition to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Vizio Swot Analysis As Vizio tries to introduce a new line of products into a mature industry i.e. televisions and computers, it faces many challenges such as being accepted, comparable to its successful competitors and finding and filling a niche. In the words of William Wang, CEO, Vizio, We re here to make innovative technology a commodity. We re not here to build a cheap product; we re here to make the product affordable. Vizio s strengths lie in its existing distribution and sales networks, reduced labor costs, monetary assistance provided, a skilled workforce, high profitability and revenue and experienced business units. Its weaknesses are its cost structure, small business units, limited productivity, tax structure, the unknown, competitive market, costs, investments in research and development, future competition and the possibility of high loan rates. Vizio s strategy essentially revolves around trying to have the least expensive computers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Potential threats could be government regulations, external business risks, rising cost of raw materials, an increase in labor costs, tax changes, price changes, growing competition and lower profitability. Vizio is also faced with risks of being copied or sued for copying if it cannot find a way to differentiate itself from other competitors and entrants in the market. Besides, since Vizio sources about 80% its products from AmTran, its performance is closely reliant on AmTran. As soon as AmTran is struck by disruptions or stops funding Vizio, the company would see hardship. In addition, the profitable relationship between Vizio and AmTran was based on and further improved by William Wang s personal relationship with top management officials of AmTran. • 32. Essay on Racial Preferences and the Constitution Racial Preferences and the Constitution The Constitution has survived two World Wars, a Civil War, and even slavery. This piece of paper was written to limit government in our lives and proclaim our rights as individuals. Through the course of time, Amendments have been added to aid in current events that were not foreseen when the Constitution was originally written. Sixteen presidents after the Constitution was written, slavery was abolished and the Thirteenth Amendment was passed.. Three years later came the Equal Protection clause in the Fourteenth Amendment and two years after that, the Supreme Court addressed voting rights in the Fifteenth Amendment. The decisions in Plessy and Brown are similar because of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Does the new standard mean that the Court has adopted a color blind theory of equal protection, holding in effect that any racial classification by the government is unconstitutional, that no governmental unit may take race into account except to cure a plain constitutional violation of equal protection? Has the Court overruled Regents v. Bakke, the charter for affirmative action in higher education? In Bakke v Regents of the University of California, we have a landmark reverse discrimination case that influenced education as a whole. Bakke was rejected from graduate school even though he had superior scores than many of the African American applicants who were admitted. Bakke challenged the University of California and overturned the quota system that had been established in public universities across the nation. The University of California held on to the belief that black people should have access to black doctors. However, if the University were to go on a sole merit system then the number of special admittees would diminish along with the aforementioned belief. This belief was quickly altered by the Supreme Court with their decision against the University. While the approach the Courts use is meant to be color blind, the outcome is anything but color blind. This can be seen through an examination of the equal protection jurisprudence of Justice O Connor, the pivotal swing vote on these issues in the last decade and author of the ... • 33. Twelfth Night Trickster Quotes In the play Twelfth Night , Shakespeare presents many tricksters. In fact, the majority of the characters can somewhat be characterized as a trickster. Some characteristics that you would see in a trickster are that they are intelligent, ambiguous, deceitful, and self serving. In the play Twelfth Night some characters that you would classify as tricksters are Viola, Feste, Maria, Sir Toby Belch, and Sir Andrew Aguecheek. Some tricksters are of higher class/rank while others are of lower class/servants. In Twelfth Night , the tricksters are used to develop conflict, challenge social order, and create comedy. One of the most important tricksters of Twelfth Night would have to be Viola. After being shipwrecked into a new country, Viola completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His character helped create the festive atmosphere with his singing and dancing and excessive drinking. Sir Andrew is very fond of Olivia, however he knows that he doesn t have a chance. Sir Toby keeps encouraging him to keep trying with Olivia but he s discouraged because he knows she has feelings for Cesario. Sir Andrew is so moved by Olivia that he was willing to pick a sword fight with Cesario but then backs down when Cesario is prepared and ready to go. Sir Andrew backing down from the dual against Cesario goes to show that strength and masculinity can be masked, as Cesario is really Viola in disguise. This is another example of how Sir Andrew s main purpose in the story is just for the laughs. Aguecheek is one of the duller, unintelligent characters of Twelfth Night. It s obvious Aguecheek isn t very smart because Maria mocks him without him noticing. An you part so, mistress, I would I might never draw sword again. Fair lady, do you think you have fools in hand, says Sir Andrew to Maria. Sir, I have not you by the hand. Maria is mocking Sir Andrew by calling him a fool but he is so gullible that he doesn t catch it. Sir Andrew is one of the many characters of the play that aim towards an unrealistic ... • 34. Theory, An Optimal Executive Compensation Scheme Essay In theory, an optimal executive compensation scheme overcomes the principal agent problem by aligning the interests of executives and shareholders, and subsequently providing executives an incentive to maximise shareholder value. Furthermore, an executive compensation scheme must be sufficient to attract and retain the appropriate executive. According to Bognanno (2014), restricted stocks and stock options are the most common forms of equity based compensation schemes, with stock options accounting for almost half of US CEO compensation in 2000. Since economic agents respond to incentives, the intuition behind equity based compensation schemes is that providing executives with a form of compensation that is tied with the performance of the company, will provide an incentive for the executive to maximise shareholder value. For instance, assume an executive is provided with a stock option of 100 stocks with a strike price of $10, the executive will only receive a payoff if the stock price is above $10 (see Figure 1). If the stock price is above the strike price, the executive is able to exercise the option by purchasing the stock at $10 and selling the stock on the spot market. Since the executive has an incentive to maximise his or her payoff, the executive s interests are in theory, aligned with shareholders and the executive is expected undertake activities which maximises shareholder value. DiPrete et al. (2010) suggest that executive compensation practices cannot be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I wanted to express interest in a position in the Information Security or the Information Technology department. I believe that my interpersonal and technical skills would be a great fit at Cambridge Savings Bank.
