Girl Power Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Girl Power" is inherently challenging, primarily due to the
vast scope and depth of the topic. Firstly, the concept of "Girl Power" itself is multifaceted,
encompassing various aspects such as feminism, gender equality, empowerment, and societal
perceptions. Thus, navigating through these complex layers requires meticulous research and a
nuanced understanding of gender dynamics.
Furthermore, addressing the historical context and evolution of the Girl Power movement adds
another layer of complexity. One must delve into the roots of feminism, exploring key
milestones, influential figures, and the ongoing struggle for women's rights globally. This
historical backdrop is crucial for contextualizing the significance of contemporary discussions on
Girl Power.
Moreover, analyzing the current state of affairs regarding gender equality demands a critical
examination of societal norms, systemic barriers, and cultural representations. This necessitates
grappling with sensitive issues such as gender stereotypes, discrimination, and the
intersectionality of oppression, which can be emotionally taxing and intellectually demanding.
Additionally, crafting a compelling argument in support of Girl Power requires balancing
optimism with realism. While celebrating progress and achievements, it's essential to
acknowledge persistent challenges and areas where further strides are needed. This requires
striking a delicate balance between highlighting success stories and advocating for meaningful
change.
In essence, writing an essay on Girl Power entails navigating through a complex web of
historical, sociocultural, and political factors while maintaining a coherent and persuasive
narrative. It demands thorough research, critical analysis, and empathy towards the diverse
experiences of women worldwide.

A Project Manager For Monitor And Control The Execution
Of...
Once a project is begun, it is important for a project manager to monitor and control
the execution of the endeavor. A project manager must observe and examine how the
work is progressing, the costs, application of the resources required, and if the
schedule is being sustained with the overall project plan. This is especially important
when a project manageruses the earned value management(EVM) system to track and
monitor an undertaking. EVM and variance management must have accurate material
and labor costs accounted in order to be an effective tool.
Labor and Material Costs
Resources are essential for completion for any project, but must be managed
differently because of the constraints and accounting each specifically demands.
Labor, materials, and equipment fall under the definition of resources and how
they are managed within a project will greatly impact the endeavor (Larson Gray,
2014). An important resource for a project is the human resource or labor and the
skills that each individual brings to the project team. Ordinarily, direct labor is
classified by skills and the costs related to provide those skills to complete the work.
Direct labor costs are normally calculated by multiplying the hours required to
complete the task by the salary scale designated for the task. Indirect labor costs
encompass any support staff that is not directly involved within the project, like
human resource, administrative, and other ancillary staff (Webb, 2016). Even though

Personal Statement For Marine Biology
Personal Statement
Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family
encouraged the most. Not just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but
the fundamentals in life that require you to interact in society and be a part of
something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit to values such as
responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open minded and
passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in
various ways. They always stress how sometimes you need to give up something to
get ahead, or how sometimes sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from
yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the long run.
The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a
marine biology degree is a fifth grader s dream come true. The environment is
heading in a rough direction. For example, ocean acidification is already a
problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing coral reefs to die out
which houses thousands of organisms homes and food sources. Due to the
contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing
ecosystems every day. Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the
oceanic life from these horrible conditions. Also, the career of marine biology can
take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the Bahamas all the way to the depths of
the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage
Understanding Our Country s Founding Fathers
I think it is of high importance to understand a little more about the personal lives
of our country s Founding Fathers. Understanding the peculiarities of their lives
gives us a greater understanding of why they developed our Constitution the way
that they did. It also gives us an excellent insight as to what was developing in their
minds as they worked to develop a set of rules and standards that sets us apart from
other developing nations during the same time period. I feel that delving into their
psyche, so to speak, gives us a better understanding of the controversies we have
today because we can form a more rational basis as to why our country was
conceived in the way that it was. I have attempted to take a more formal role in our
various political spectrums, and books such as this one has helped me to do so. As I
pursue a Master s of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, this book sets my
mind up to understand the sophisticated views and philosophies that our nation was
framed under.
The book is divided into three parts: the Firebrands, the Federalists, and the
Republicans and there is a considerable amount of time discussing the major players
within those three constructs. The Firebrands were those who tried to get people
angry and doing something about a particular political or social cause. William
Livingston and the Lees of Stratford Hall comprise the individuals who first
conceived the notion of a revolt leading to the American Revolution. The
Compare And Contrast Ming And Tang Dynasty
In the Dynastic cycle, the Ming and Tang Dynasties of ancient China showed
similar periods Prosperity. The Period of Prosperity means that what they both did
that was good so they got to be the ruler of China and got the mandate of heaven.
You can t always have all the same so there are some things that weren t the same.
Let s start with some of what the Ming did that the Tang didn t. Let s start so first he
restored the Chinese rule to Chinaand that means he restored one of the biggest rules
so that helped a lot to get to be the ruler. Wile in his years for ruling two very
important things happened to him.for example, The Song dynasty (the one before
him) Improved the trading ships so thanks to him they were able to travel faster. So

Expository Writing
During the semester, the class was assigned writing tasks that were intended to
showcase our strengths and weaknesses in our writing. We were forced to think
outside the box and expand on ideas in our readings. In the beginning of the
semester, I was not certain what to except from this course. Writing has never been
my strong suit, early in the semester I struggled with the writings. In high school,
English class was not my favorite subject causing me to not gain the knowledge I
should have, coming into this course with a poor knowledge about expository and
narrative writing. Once I entered this course, the information that was received about
expository and narrative writing helped me tremendously. I became accustomed to
the new writing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My weakness that was evident in my writing was my grammar, I made a few
mistakes that could ve been fixed had I revised my grammar more intently. Overall
I enjoyed this writing because it was based off a topic that I could relate to easily. I
learned that if I organize my ideas prior to writing, it makes it a lot easily to write
about.
Reflection:
The prompt of the reflection was to reflect on a topic and question it. I wrote about
love and why it is that we love certain things. In my writing, I explained how
individuals fall in love based off quality memories that they have of that a person,
place, or thing. My purpose was to provide the reader with enough information to
convince them that love is based off memories. The toughest challenge that I faced
was finding enough information to support my claim. Through multiple hours of
searching the web I was able to find enough information that supported my claim
and was satisfied with my draft that was submitted. While I was revising my paper
my focus was to eliminate any grammatical and or spelling errors that may have
been made. Throughout my writing the strength of it was my sensory imagery,
when I talked about my grandmother s home I made sure to give the reader a good
mental image. Another strength that was evident in my writing was my personal
experiences, giving a perspective from my eyes to give the reader a better sense of
what I was trying to say. The weakness of this paper was my
Solution Of Water Pollution
Introduction
People usually don t check the water they drink before drinking it because they trust
that just because it is in the bottle, water fountain, refrigerator (etc.) that it is free of
pollutants, but that is not always the case. Water pollution in drinking water is very
common and dangerous because the bacteria/pollutants can cause health problems
that lead to death. There are a variety of diseases and bacterias that lead to the health
problems. What is water pollution?
Water pollution is generally described as a contaminated body of water. Water
pollution is caused by pollutants like chemicals and compounds. The Georgia Holt
Environmental
Science Textbook defines water pollution as the introduction of chemicals, physical,
or biological agents into water that degrades water quality and adversely affect the
organisms that depend on water. These waters can be lakes, swamps, oceans, gulfs,
rivers, aquifer and etc. Almost all water pollution comes from industrialization and
rapid population growth. Water pollution affects every aspect of life from humans,
plants, and animals. Water makes up 70% of the earth so water pollution affects
animal life such as the animals that live in water are affected because they can
become sick and die off and can affect the rest of the food chain which can affect the
humans that eat them. That contamination now is spread to the human population
which negatively affects our communities and
People Across The Nation By Fred Astaire
Throughout time there has been a constant ebb and flow of civilizations developing,
imploding or being actively destroyed by stronger societies. From the Renaissance to
the World Wars, the existence of the human race has never been a question. Even
through times of despair and prosperity, the human race has persisted and even
advanced itself. Improvements in technology, medicine, education, and
communication have increased the life capacity, expectancy, and satisfaction of
people every day. However, even with these well intentioned efforts to improve the
humanrace, ultimately our humanity has been adversely affected. Instead, we are
now driven by a selfish desire to advance our personal agendas and achieve celebrity
status. These misguided behaviors have become the new norm .
Fred Astaire sums this surrender of compassion into one amazing quote: The hardest
job kids face today is learning good manners without seeing any. Even though Astaire
s statement contradicts the beliefs of many people across the nation, it shows insight
into the true problem. Positive social interactions are no longer a normalized aspect
of human life. While the vanishing of respect for one another has hit the mainstream
more recently; the issue has been around for multiple centuries. This pattern and its
consequences had already drawn the attention of European and American observers
by the early 19th century (Fass 85). Yet, we have not tried to fix the issue, but only
allowed the bad behavior
Breathing Rate Lab Report
Aim: To investigate the relationship between exercise levels and respiratory functions.
Hypothesis: If respiratory functions are measured after different exercise levels are
completed, then there will be an increase in those functions which include heart rate,
breathing rate and carbon dioxide production levels.

If a pulse was measured and recorded as student 1 s results, the same person is to be
used again as student 1, or therefore results would be inaccurate. If it were to be two
different people being measured for student 1 s results column, results would be
inaccurate because two people may have different pulses, breathing rates and carbon
dioxide productions. One person may be more calm, or more energetic than the other,
and those factors would give uneven results. There was not enough time to complete
the full investigation, therefore results for table 3, the carbon dioxide production, was
taken from another group. This has affected data, making it inaccurate, because these
results were measured on other group members. Another factor that could have
affected this investigation is the exercise type. The same exercise is to be completed
by all members of the group throughout the whole investigation. If one member was
to do 1 minute of simple star jumps, while another chose to do sprints, that would
affect the the results, because more intensity would of been put into sprinting than
star jumps, and that person would have a more increased function, making the results

Anglerfish Adaptation
Genetics/Reproduction
Because of the environment an anglerfish lives in the male is always looking for a
mate. Male anglerfish are always smaller than female anglerfish. They have evolved
to be parasitic as they attach to the female anglerfish for nutrition. The reproduction
process of anglerfish, is an interesting example of sexual dysmorphism. A male
anglerfish bites into the female anglerfish with its teeth and attaches to the female.
As the male s mouth and the female s skin weld the male loses all organs except for
his testes and his vision. The male anglerfish have large noses to sense the
pheromones of a female, and while they are maturing they lose their jaw teeth and
their digestive systems becomes delapitated. The tissues of a male and female
anglerfish fuse together when an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The female plays the biggest role in the relationship as she controls the food, and
attracts the prey with her lure. This extreme case of sexual dysmorphism allows
the female anglerfish to spawn whenever she needs to as she always has a mate
available. The sperm travels through the mouth of a female and is fertilized to
form a zygote. When the female is ready to produce her eggs, she lays them on a
sheet made of jelly like substance two to three feet by 30 feet long. The sheet
floats to the top of the ocean and when the eggs are ready they hatch and become
larvae. Then the larvae eat plankton to sustain themselves, and eventually travel
back to the bottom of the ocean as they grow older. The average female/male
anglerfish has 46 chromosomes. Anglerfish are categorized by their genes, They are
characterized by the dorso ventrally compressed morphology of the head and body, a
wide and cavernous mouth, thin skin, an absence of scales and swimbladder, and a
modified first dorsal fin ray (illicium) with a terminal esca, which serves as a lure.

Their Eyes Were Watching God Analysis Essay
A Woman s Journey to Self discovery She had waited all her life for something. This
quote is significant because it epitomizes the struggle of a woman to reach self
actualization. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, Zora Neale Hurston juxtaposes
opposing places to emphasize the experience gained by the novel s protagonist, Janie,
in each respective location, and to emphasize the effect of that environment on Janie
s journey to attain her dreams. Through this comparison, the author explores the idea
of living and experiencing life as a means of self discovery. Moreover, Hurston
expresses another theme central to the novel s understanding. This particular theme
denounces the belief that achieving life experience should always involve... Show

Janie s concept of marriage relates to an interaction between bees and a pear tree,
during which time Janie witnessed the thousand sister calyxes arch to meet the
love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree...so this was a marriage (Hurston
11). Because she recognizes that Logan will never be able to fulfill her ideal of
marriage, Janie eagerly absconds to Eatonville with Joe Starks. In Eatonville,
Janie s marriage is initially characterized by passion and affluence. However, Joe s
desire to control Janie leads him to coerce her into repressing any personal
characteristics that others may find attractive; as an act of dominance Joe
convinces Janie to fasten her hair. By doing this, Janie represses her strength and
sexuality. As time passes, Janie realizes that she will not become the person that
she dreamed of becoming while remaining in Eatonville. After Joe s death, Janie
decides to liberate herself from the constraints thrust upon her in Eatonville. Janie s
newfound freedom is symbolized when she decides to burn the rags that Joe forced
her to wear over her hair. Because Eatonville represented oppression to her, Janie
escapes to discover herself. Conversely, the Everglades represent the cessation of
Janie s journey to self discovery. Janie and Tea Cake initially move to de muck for
Tea Cake to seek employment (Hurston 122). However, Janie becomes infatuated
with the atmosphere, and decides to permanently settle with her new
The Implementation Of Any Erp Package
The implementation of any ERP package is a matter of concern for the management
of any enterprise, and the same needs to be undertaken after a considerable amount of
planning and with a long term an analysis of the situation. Changing from an existing
package and moving to a completely new package involves considerable amount of
efforts and shall have an effect on the entire organisation, and hence, they need to be
undertaken with thorough planning. The new package installed shall materially alter
the manner of working of the people in the enterprise, and shall replace all the
existing operating procedures. People require time to adjust to this, and to get along
well with the new software. The management while deciding to implement any such
change, must analyse the current situation and develop a strategy for implementation
of the new package and only then the idea may be moved head, and given a concrete
form.
Considering the above introduction and a brief about the implementation of new
software on a general basis we shall discuss the matter of ERP implementation at

Night Quotes About Night
According to The Houghton Mifflin dictionary, night is defined as the period
between sunset and sunrise, especially, the hours of darkness (p.887). Everything
terrible happens at night. Every death, every tragedy, anything for that matter,
happens at night. The significance that Elie Wiesel was trying to imply about night
was a form of darkness. Darkness, as in danger. Darkness as in loneliness;
loneliness as in sadness; sadness as in death. The symbol of death is expressed by
the main character of the novel, Eliezer. Eliezer might not have died, but he
experiences darkness, darkness of the soul, and loss of faith.
Eliezer s character changes over the course of the story, therefore, this change can be
seen clearly in Elie Wiesel s description ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is seen when Eliezer s soul turns to darkness. He feels abandoned by God, he
feels alone and suffers from depression. Eliezer also loses faith in everything. No

Eliezer is an excellent example to express the significance of night in the novel

The Hunger Games And The Greek Myth Of Theseus
Research Paper Final Draft: President V.S. Minotaur In both the Hunger Games and
the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, children were used as sacrifices to
make the Capitol and/or Minotaur seem unbeatable. Children were offered as
sacrifices to make the Capitol/Minotaur seem unbeatable. In the Greek myth of
Theseusand the Minotauras punishment for displeasing Crete, seven youths and seven
maidens were periodically sent into a labyrinthcontaining a Minotaur which was half
man and half bull. This cycle doesn?t end until Theseus volunteers to go into the
labyrinth and kill the Minotaur. Theseus is successful in killing the beast and
becomes the epic hero of this story.
In the Hunger Games, children were sent into an arena to kill each other as
sacrifices this was a symbol of the capitol?s power. Once a child reached the age of
twelve their name was entered into the mix for the Hunger Games, a fight to the
death broadcasted on live TV. Katniss?s twelve year old sister Prim gets picked and
Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and the other district twelve tribute, Peeta
are the last two survivors and defy the Capitol by trying to kill themselves at the
same time. At the last second they are stopped and both come out of the arena
victorious.
Once in the labyrinth, there was no escaping, much like the Hunger Games, the only
way out was to be the last living tribute. Katniss talking to Peeta says, ?Careful,
there?s a force field up ahead? (Collins, Catching
Example Of Symbolism In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night is purer than day; it is better for thinking and loving and dreaming. At night
everything is more intense, more true. The echo of words that have been spoken
during the day takes a new and deeper meaning, Elie Wiesel. The tittle night is one
example of symbolism. The night stands for suffering and hopelessness and the
dark time in Elie s life. There are many examples of symbolism in the novel Night
by Elie Weisel. Three examples that I m going to discuss are: Elie s inheritance, the
use of fire, and Elie s use of the word corpses. The first example of symbolism is the
spoon and knife. When the Jews were taken to Auschwitz they were stripped of all
of their belongings. They had nothing. When Elie s father Chlomo knew he was

He says he saw with his own eyes children thrown into flames. Additionally when
he saw the young boy hanged next to other men Elie was so disturbed by that, that
he said his soup tasted like corpses. Seeing the innocent child hanging there and
God was doing nothing to help and, he couldn t believe that God would allow that.
At the end of the story he goes to look at himself in the mirror because he hadn t
seen what he looked like since he was in the ghetto and he says, From the depths of
the mirror, a corpse stared back at me. The look in his eyes, as they stared into mine,
has never left me (109). Elie s belief in God was unconditional and he couldn t
imagine living without faith in a divine power. Then when he is taken to Auschwitz
he sees the unbelievable cruelty and inhumaneness and wonders why God allows that
bestiality to happen. He sees that the Holocaust exposes the selfishness, evil, and
cruelty that everyone is capable of. He thus believes God is cruel or doesn t exist at
all and he consequently loses faith in God. Elie s use of the word corpses is his loss

Creating an EcOS Database Essay
How to create an EcOS database?
In EcOS, data and metadata are stored in time series database. An EcOS database has
some key characteristics:
An EcOS database acts as a container for data, metadata, and objects.
The database structure is governed by its attributes.
Since it is a time series database, each series stored is tied to a time dimension.
Each time series has a default scale.
This video shows how to create an EcOS database.
Step 1. Planning. Before constructing a database in EcOS determine the processes of

Lambert (2012, p.104) states, the researcher prepares the main questions
beforehand, but during the interview may ask additional questions, or additional
topics. This allows the researcher to gain more understanding of what the
participants opinion is, and also ask about topics which the researcher may not be
aware of that have been brought up during the interview. The questions will also
consist of open and closed questions, as Palgrave (no date) states if you ask open
questions you could elicit an almost endess number of responses which allows for the
interviewer to gain more information and can keep the interview more casual making

Essay on The Linux
The Linux was originally founded by Linus Torvalds. In 1991, he was a second
year computer science student in Finland. He sought after an operating system that
was similar to the UNIX system, but both UNIX and the hardware it ran on were
excessively expensive. A UNIX version called Minix was available for free, but it
did not reasonably meet his needs as it was simply an operating system for students,
designed primarily as a teaching tool rather than an industry strength operating
system. As a result, Torvalds studied Minix and proceeded to set out to write a new
version. After six months of working to produce the new operating system, Torvalds
made very little progress toward the utility of the system.

In many systems architecture, the kernel is the lowest level of software that
interfaces with the hardware in a computer. In UNIX, users typically have no direct
access to it. It is responsible for interfacing all applications that run in user mode
including the physical hardware and allowing processes to get information from each
other.
Linux kernel developers designed kernel modules that could be loaded and unloaded
at runtime. Kernel modules are essential to keeping the kernel functioning with all of
the computer s hardware without consuming all of the available memory. A module
generally adds functions based on the users needs to the base kernel for things like
file systems and devices. A kernel is essential for any computer system to run and
operate properly. The Linux kernel is different than OS X and Windows because it
includes drivers at the kernel level, and most other operating systems do not.
(Salzman, 2005.)
The Linux operating system has been developed by many intelligent people. Around
two percent of the Linux kernel was actually written by Torvalds himself. Today, the
Linux kernel has received contributions from thousands of developers across the
globe. Torvalds remains the definitive authority on what new codes are incorporated
into the Linux kernel. However, Linux distribution modifies the kernel according to

of reducing hospital readmissions as many insurance carriers including Medicare
penalize hospitals for readmissions within the first 30 days of discharge. Hospitals
must first know what is triggering a readmission and address the situation and create
a plan to reduce readmissions and the cost.
This author s point of view believes that determining the specific reason why
readmissions occur is critical to put a strategy in place to start reducing these
readmissions. The author felt that the study was a well organized study and would
provide valuable information to the hospitals who participated.
The study consisted of 346 continuously enrolled United State hospitals who were
also involved in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality
Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP. The study included obesity surgery,
hysterectomy, total hip arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, colectomy, proctectomy,
ventral hernia repair, and lower leg vascular bypass. Data was collected by the ACS
NSQIP which included information on readmissions to the same facility or different
facility, if the readmission was unplanned, and the primary indication for the
Public Services And Public Sector
Businesses vary. Schools, shops, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, banks, spas, and
universities are all businesses in the sense that they all have corporate missions or
targets to deliver whilst, at the same time being under constraints and pressures.
These businesses can be divided into 3 categories;
1.Private
2.Public
3.The Voluntary/Third Sector e.g. Charities and Co Operatives.
Public Sector Companies are predominately focused on providing the best service
that budget allows to the communities or taxpayers. For example if the government
run bus service in a remote area is not getting enough customers, the government
may still continue this service as its main objective is to provide and not to
maximise profits. On the other hand, if this service was run by a private sectors
business, they may end it if they do not find it profitable, as their main priority is
predominately to increase revenue.
However, in recent years, the government has encouraged Public Sector Companies to
focus on commercial targets, whilst at the same time meeting government targets.
This is due to budget cuts and the reorganisation of government money as Public
Companies are funded by the taxpayer, either directly e.g. council tax; or indirectly
e.g. income tax distributed by the Government.
Private sector objectives will often differ from objectives set in the public sector.
Private Sector Companies are normally owned by private individuals or families.
However, they can also be owned by other
Having Effective Policies In Place Is Important When
Dealing
Having effective policies in place is important when dealing with the management
of a business in order to set guidelines for the people involved in the business, so
they how it works and what is expected of them in order for the business to function
effectively. If no policies are found within a business, it will be in trouble when a
problem arises and there is not a base or rules to follow. Also, policies help explain
what is important for the business and what it enforces and protects. For that reason,
I decided to implement some important policies in Escape Restaurant and Night Club
in order to provide a foundation for the business to be effective, safe, and profitable.

Acceptable use policy
In order for employees to access Escape s email, information systems, and the
internet, the will have to agree to follow the acceptable use policy. If there was no
acceptable use policy in place for escape, employees would not have the guidelines
for what is acceptable when accessing the business computer systems and

unlawful or illegal actions which could negatively affect the business dramatically.
Also, they could steal the information and sale or give it to competitors or they could
even get the business to get in problems. In order to prevent
A Mutual Fund Is An Open End Speculation Organization
A mutual fund is an open end speculation organization that puts cash of its
shareholders in a typically expanded gathering of securities of different companies, as
characterized in the Merriam Webster word reference. Common assets help with
financing and contributing open doors. They allow the little financial specialists to
put their cash in different ranges other than stocks and bonds. There is numerous
common assets to browse and distinctive reasons why shareholders ought to pick
them. As mainstream as common assets have ended up, there is ruins to them like
most speculation opportunities. In 2003, mutual funds were giving an awful name
when an outrage was brought open. Getting to be real suppliers of assets in the
budgetary business sector, mutual fundhave turned into an extremely prominent

8,000 diverse common assets, with more than 88 million families owning shares of

Chris Mccandless
In the book, John Krakauer describes and judges Chris McCandless not only based
on the people he interacted with, but also based on his personal feelings or opinions
due to the similar experiences that the two of them have encountered. Meanwhile,
Sean Penn, the director of the movie, presents Chris McCandless behavior based on
the interaction that he made with other people especially the connection that he and
his family share and he attempts to not rely on John Krakauer s feelings or personal
opinion about McCandless. This is to show that it was Chris McCandless family that
drove him to go into the wild. The scenes in the movie somehow always connect
back to family but not necessarily about Chris family. This is to show and
emphasize just how impactful the family is to Chris and it helps explain why he
decided to travel. Also, Chris sister, Caren McCandless, was the narrator of the
movie. This is to reinforce the idea of family and also to attempt to justify his actions

American Influence On German Films
Before the 1930 s many influential films were silent, except the score in the
background that had slight or little relevance to the movie. As technology kept
improving, sounds were added to movies as a method to help get across themes
and motifs. Dialog could now be heard in movies, instead of having to be read on a
blank background. One of the first and most influence German films to properly
execute the use of sounds was Blue Angel, by Josef Von Sternberg. Blue Angel
was created in 1930, and tells of the story of a respected professor who in an
attempt to catch his student from attending a club called The Blue Angel, ends up
falling in love with a cabaret performer named Lola Lola. The professor resigns from
his job as a teacher, and lives
The Experimental And Analytical Studies
Over the past quarter century, many of both the experimental and analytical
studies have increased dramatically on the monotonic behavior of FRP confined
concrete columns, and as a result, many axial stress strain models have been
proposed; however, most of them have focused largely on FRP confined plain
concrete cylinders numerous people tested (e.g., Mirmiran and Shahawy 1997;

have included non circular unreinforced (plain) columns (e.g., Rochette and

investigations carried out on FRP confined non circular reinforced concretecolumns

that a few essential gaps need more further research. As a result, the current study
aims to consider the most significant issues, namely, the influence of 1) cross
sectional aspect ratio, 2) internal hoop or longitudinal steel reinforcement ratio, and 3)
cyclic or monotonic compression loading pattern. These issues which form the basis

Descriptive Tourism
5 must see top rated tourist attractions in Argentina
Argentina is a stunning country and it is one that should sit high on anyone s bucket
list. There s a challenge, though, when planning a trip because the country is so
massive it s difficult to know where to start or end up. It s difficult to narrow the
tourist attractions down to just 5 because there are so many, but we dedicated
ourselves to choosing the absolute best and here s what we came up with.
Please note: they re all so awesome we haven t put them in any particular order.
1. Perito Moreno Glacier
Another UNESCO site, and this one you will find in El Calafte, a small town which
is home to Los Glaciares National Park. What s of interest here? The Perito Moreno
Glacier, not only is it the third largest fresh water reserve on the planet, it is also
home to an 18 mile long ice formation.
The visitor center is just two hours from the town and from the center there s only
a short walk to reach to glacier via a walking circuit. For the more adventurous
spirits out there... you can climb Perito Moreno! Yes, there are tours available from
a quick hour walk on the surface of the ice to a five hour trek. That s not all you will
find at the park, though. There s also a 2 mile high mountain, Monte Fitz Roy, which
is just as treacherous as Everest.
2. Ushuaia
Patagonia is well known for incredible landscapes, bragging massive stretches of
plateaus and plains, made all the more dramatic by the backdrop of the Andes.
This southern hot spot also happens to feature Ushuaia which just happens to be
the most southern city in the world. It got its start in the 20th century as a penal
colony, but now it s become the place to launch adventures. It s the starting point
for trips around Cape Horn and kicking off an Antartic adventure. It s fondly
known as the end of the world and has a truly unique landscape that features woods,
mountains, glaciers, and sea. It sits at the very edge of Tierra del Fuego National
Park. In fact, you ll want to visit the National Park, too, while you are in the area.
There are also two museums that shows the unique history of the area, and a
lighthouse (built in 1884).

Comparing Baroque Styles Of Art And Deliverry Of The
Cross
High Renaissance and Baroque Styles The Renaissance and Baroque are two
difference styles of art, but they play an important role in the history of art. Based
on the five concepts in Wolfflin s Principles of Art History to compare and contrast
two artworks: Delivery of the Keys (about 1481 1482) by Pietro Perugino, which is
created with high Renaissance style, and Raising of the Cross (about 1610 1611) by
Peter Paul Rubensis created with Baroquestyle.
Although Delivery of the keys and Raising of the Cross are more than 100 year apart,
they both succeed in holding the values of art and religion. Besides, Delivery of the

Describe The Origin Of Dj s
In the mid to late 1980 s, Dj s in Chicago began playing around with a Roland TB
303, a bass synthesizer, using the machine in ways it wasn t intended for. After
playing around, a genre called acid house emerged in Chicago clubs. By 1987,
London had caught onto house music and later introduced acid house to the
clubgoers. By the early 1990 s, organizations began holding raves in the UK at
warehouses or in fields, and new genres of house called happy hardcore and jungle
became popular. As genres grew, setting up shows became difficult. By 1992,
raves in the UK started taking place in licensed venues in order to avoid
confrontation with law enforcement. Throughout the 1990 s house music took off
and new subgenres emerged in the rave scene (Simms). Just as punk music took
hold in New York from the UK in the 1980 s, raves and house music followed suit
in the 1990 s. In 1992, DJ Scotto put on the first rave in Manhattan, New York. One

people, or large venue with thousands of new faces. While raves might seem like
the place where people go to listen to fast paced music and dance all night, the love
is everywhere says Patrick Welch, a raver from Portland, Oregon. Several people
go to raves, not only for the music, but also for the community raves provides. After
attending raves for the past couple years, I have learned that several ravers attend
raves because they feel accepted. Several ravers have a tough home life and at
raves they feel free to act like themselves and feel free from judgement. With a lack
of a reliable family in their lives, these ravers tend to make their own rave families .
Individuals in these families tend to look out and support one
Organization Structure And The Organizational Structure

Starbucks uses a matrix organization structure similar to most big corporations. The
functional feature of Starbucks departmentalization is having an HR department,
finance department and a marketing department. These departments are only
utilized at the top levels of Starbucks organizational structure, mainly its
headquarters. For example, the HR department would typically implement a new
policy and that policy would apply to all Starbucks cafГ©s. This facilitates top
down monitoring and control with the CEO at the top. Doing this helps the
company maintain consistency throughout its stores and allows for employees to
know what is expected of them. Starbucks also involves geographic divisions,
which are mainly in the Chinese, American and European markets with each
division having a vice president. This allows for each manager to only have to
report to two superiors, the geographic CEO and the functional CEO. This helps for
closer geographical needs and each division is given a high degree of flexibility in
strategy and policy. Next, Starbucks uses product based divisions that address product
lines such as coffee, baked goods, merchandise, etc. Starbucks is a brand and they
market their own merchandise with supports from its organizational structure. Finally,
teams are also used with its most notable team structure being the baristas. They work
together to make the product which are given to the customer that can watch it being
made. It takes a team to provide top notch
The Construct Of Empathy, By Great Thinkers From
Various...
The construct of empathy attracts the interest of academics from various fields of
study, particularly in subfields of psychology. Its function and associated processes in
moral development have been discussed for centuries by great thinkers from various
disciplines. Hoffman (1982) defines empathy as an affective response more
appropriate to another s situation than one s own . Nonetheless, the notion of empathy
has always been a complex concept, and the lack of uniformity in the usage and
understanding of the term underlying the multiple definitions and conceptualizations
implies that there is no correct definition. In other words, there seems to be a
pregnant ambiguous consensus on how we empathise with others. However, one
could rightfully argue that this ambiguity echoes the multidimensional aspect of
empathy that involves not only automatic and emotional aspects but also aspects of a
more reflective and conceptual kind.
Due to empathy s value in our society, multiple attempts have been made to develop
instruments and procedures, varying from cross species comparative studies
(Flombaum Santos, 2005; Silk, Brosnan, Vonk, Henrich, Povinelli, Richardson, et al.,
2005) to characterizing the neural basis of empathy using fMRI (Singer, 2006; Singer
Lamm, 2009). Psychologists have consistently worked on conceptualizing and
ultimately measuring empathy. Such efforts led to the development of countless
instruments, with the most common ones being self report
Examples Of Chuck Bass As An American Hero

He then moved to the big city to film. Playing his role as Chuck on the series
Gossip Girls made his career as an actor. He was contacted to show up to casting
calls or has offers to play roles without even auditioning.
What, exactly, does antihero mean? Merriam Webster traces its first appearance
back to 1714 and murkily defines it as a protagonist or notable figure who is
considerably lacking in heroic qualities. Charles Bartholomew Joseph Chuck Bass is
a fictional character in the novel and television show Gossip Girl. Chuck Bass is
known as the show s antihero. For example, he cheats, lies or uses the power of
money to make his friends happy or get what they want. He isn t the traditional anti
heroic because he is more relatable to people. His character traits have changed
since starting in the first episode to the last episode in season six. During season
one Chuck was shy, and unlikeable. Also, he is considered the bad boy. He was
only interested in girls, himself and money. In an episode, he says Why should I
be... an usher? I m Chuck Bass. This is an example of how his unlikable
personality came across to others. Then by the end of the third season he shows us
a sensitive side. By the third season, Chuck shows a nicer side and is likable. We
see him make a few big and thoughtful gesture to his queen bee girlfriend, for
example, surprising her with her dream dress for prom.

Purpose Of Simple Distillation Of Heptane
Purpose The purpose of this lab was to use simple distillation and fractional
distillation to separate an unknown mixture of heptane and hexane. Additionally, gas
chromatography (GC) was used to analyze and determine the percent composition of
three samples taken during fractional distillation.
Theory Hexane is mainly produced by refining crude oil and the exact composition
depends on the source of the oil and the refining process. A significant amount of
hexane is found in gasoline and other types of hexane are used as solvents in labs.
Heptane is widely used as a non polar solvent in lab. It is important in gasoline
production because it standardizes the zero point for the octane scale. It is also used
in paint, coatings, and rubber cement. Simple distillation is a process that can be used
to separate a volatile compound from a nonvolatile compound or to separate two or
more volatile compounds whose boiling points differ by at least 40 50В°C. Hexane
and heptane are two organic liquids that follow ideal like behavior. This means that
there are no interactions between particles in the gas phase once their normal boiling
points are reached. However, heptane and hexane s boiling points are less than 30В°C
apart which means they cannot be effectively separated using simple distillation.
Fractional distillation is used to separate compounds that have similar boiling points.
In fractional distillation, a long fractional column is used so that vapors spend a
longer time in the
The Importance Of Plagiarism In Writing
Choices Plagiarism is when you take any form of writing and make it your own
without giving proper credit to the owner. You can also be plagiarizing if you use
some of your old work without the teacher knowing you did so. In universities across
America about Вѕ of people are involved in some kind of academic dishonesty
(Heckler, Rice, and Bryan 229). Many students have different reasons as to why
they had to cheat on an assignment and they range from not having enough time,
not getting the sufficient information from the teacher or for the assignment, and
sometimes some students also say that the teacher almost gives them no choice

William Gibson s Neuromancer, And The Matrix
William Gibson s Neuromancer, and The Matrix by The Wachowskis both depict a
society in which humans are under constant manipulation by indispensable machines.
In Neuromancer, the protagonist Case is indirectly manipulated by a powerful
Artificial Intelligence named Wintermute. In The Matrix, majority of the human
population lives within a computer simulated world, run by machines. However, both
storylines ultimately depict the fact that manipulation takes origin within the
individual rather than another entity, as both protagonists are frequently manipulated
due to flaws in their own character. These character flaws are not individual, rather,
they are representative of all humans. Thus, Neuromancer and The Matrixboth

In both instances, the audience is intentionally lead by false interpretations, as to
prove that individuals are constantly being manipulated unbeknownst to them.
Neuromancer demonstrates this omnipresence of manipulation, as the audience is
controlled by the author himself. Throughout the novel, Gibson s distinct word
choice not only encapsulates the audience, but also forces the novel to be read
from a certain perspective. For example, Gibson describes the atmosphere of
Ninsei, by saying By day, the bars down Ninsei were shuttered and featureless, the
neon dead, the holograms inert, waiting, under the poisoned silver sky (Gibson 7).
Gibson could simply have stated that the street was dark, and the sky was cloudy.
However, he makes the conscious effort of wording the sentence with metaphors,
and analogies in order to convey the cynical perspective from which the audience is
to observe the story. The impact of word choice is shown again in The Matrix, as an
agent justifies its horrific intentions by saying Human beings are a disease, a cancer
of this planet. You are a plague, and we are the cure (The Matrix). The agent is able to
rationalize its intent, through the use of euphemisms. Similar to the characters of
both the novel and the movie, the audience is manipulated, by the author, because
they are unaware.
Manipulation is a result of human ignorance; individuals who are unaware of their
society, are prone to manipulation. In Neuromancer,
The Battle at the Alamo Essay
The battle at the Alamo is one of the most significant events in the Texas Revolution,
as well as in both Mexican and American history. For Mexican President and General
Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, it was a tale of determination and holding to the
principles of a strong, central government. For Americans living in Texas, the Alamo
was a venture of small scale Revolutionary ideals; a people should be able to
democratically express how they feel their homeland to be governed. As we know,
both countries experienced the extreme opposites of their desired outcomes, if only
initially. The tales of this specific point in time are many, though some certainly
contain many varying details from the next. However, most can hardly be proven, as

Prior to the Texas Revolution, a time of peace and cohabitation occurred that was
mutually beneficial both to the Mexican people and the American who had
immigrated to Texas for various reasons. Mexico would can settlers who were
willing to settle and work the land in order to develop it, thus making it less likely
that ever expanding America would consume its vast plains. For many Americans
moving to Mexico, it was a chance for a new beginning. Drunkards who couldn t
make it anywhere else, shoemakers who had fallen on hard times, educated
lawyers, those evading law enforcement, and even those who simply were drawn
by the promise of land all came with hopes and dreams of beginning anew. After
all, it would be hard to ignore the call of 4,428 acres of land for thirty dollars and
an extra 160 acres for every child. The only thing asked in return was that each
immigrant take the Mexican oath of allegiance and proclaim to the Catholic faith,
even if in name only. Inscribing G.T.T (Gone to Texas) on a slip of paper or etching
it into their cabin door, regardless of circumstance, meant one thing: a fresh start.
This scenario would appear to be working out smashingly for both sides from 1824
to 1831. However, the snowball s origin that would lead to the decline of Mexican
American relations can be traced back to this point surrounding this time period. In
1830, the Mexican government passed a series of laws to halt American

provoke Americans from purchasing them. Obesity could be stopped if citizens
chose better drinks in fact , obesity rates could be reduced by 1 to 4 percentage
points if sugary beverages are taxed moderately (Sahadi). By putting a tax on these
beverages Americans will be less likely to buy them. Although the percentage
change is not that high it will prevent many citizens in choosing this unhealthy
lifestyle. A risk that could result from being obese is diabetes. Diabetes is a
common disease in the U.S. today, for the average child born today, there is a 50

other physical diseases and conditions that are associated with being overweight (

study, for example, found for every can of soda a person drinks per day, he or she
is 30 percent more likely to become obese increasing the risk of heart disease,
diabetes, and other diseases (Blanding). Soda is a huge leading cause to health
effects. Anytime a human decides to put soda into their bodies they are putting
themselves at risk. Soda contains way too many sugars that are not beneficial to the
human body, these drinks have very little, if any, healthy ingredients in them and now

Clerval Relationship In Frankenstein
Throughout Frankenstein, Mary Shelley creates an idea that without human
connections the lives of individuals and society as a whole would suffer dramatically
through her dynamic characters and their contrasts with the monster. She
demonstrates that companionship is a natural necessity for all living things by
describing Clerval s effect on Victor. The idea that the roles of paternal figures
influences all creatures and their interests is also portrayed in the novel. Both
relationships of friendship and creator with creation not only has an effect on the
individual, but also all of society, as Shelly shows that one s decision can affect the
world around them.

children to be curious and rebellious, Victor continued to read [the book] with the
greatest avidity, (25). The teachings of Agrippa allow Victor to view the sciences in a

T. White s The Once And Future King
In The Once and Future King, T.H White s tone as an author in his fantasy novel
shifts from jovial in the start to more serious atmosphere as Wart progresses through
his education on animals, and in this case animals represent the types of
governments throughout the world. This shift in tone as the audience progresses
through the beginning of the novel is implied as more of a way to exemplify the
evolution of England s feudal state to a conflicted nation in World War II.
Throughout the story, T.H White creates terse situations in order to veer away from
the jolly adventure Wart, who will learn to become the greatest king of all of
England, has to becoming an adventure in which Wart can learn to be a righteous
king. Mostly, these side adventures... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Towards the start of the adventure of Wart, Merlyn transforms him into an ant to
learn about their society. Furthermore, the very first thing the Wart witnesses is a
sign that entitles EVERYTHING NOT FORBIDDEN IS COMPULSORY (White
121). This sign gives the audience and Wart an impression that this ant colony
might entail to a communist society in which Wart will learn how the ants perform.
The idea of the sign represents a totalitarian/communist idea that whatever is not
restricted, is allowed. In this instance, the ants language forbids the access of free
though because this, in turn, can destroy the entire colony from thriving. This idea
has also been used to link totalitarian societies such as Germany and the Soviet
Union. Such free thought or criticism about the German regime could likely cause
individuals to end up in political, labor camps, away from society (The People s 1).
Moreover, White uses this connection of ants to reveal his thoughts on totalitarian
/communist societies, and show how the process works with the ants in the colony.
White describes the communications between the ants as the easiest way to explain
it is to say that it was like a wireless broadcast, a reference to the radio propaganda
that was present and spread all through the ears of the citizens in World War II (White
121). White even makes
Don T Stop Believing By Journey Analysis
The song I chose was Don t Stop Believing by Journey. In the beginning of the song
there is a piano solo. The piano is being played in an andante tempo and the dynamic
was piano (soft). After around ten seconds of the piano playing, the lead singer, Arnel
Pineda, begins to sing. Around forty seconds into the song, and right after Pineda
finishes the first cadence, you hear the guitarfor one short note, then it does not

Girl Power Essay.pdf

  • 1. Girl Power Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Girl Power" is inherently challenging, primarily due to the vast scope and depth of the topic. Firstly, the concept of "Girl Power" itself is multifaceted, encompassing various aspects such as feminism, gender equality, empowerment, and societal perceptions. Thus, navigating through these complex layers requires meticulous research and a nuanced understanding of gender dynamics. Furthermore, addressing the historical context and evolution of the Girl Power movement adds another layer of complexity. One must delve into the roots of feminism, exploring key milestones, influential figures, and the ongoing struggle for women's rights globally. This historical backdrop is crucial for contextualizing the significance of contemporary discussions on Girl Power. Moreover, analyzing the current state of affairs regarding gender equality demands a critical examination of societal norms, systemic barriers, and cultural representations. This necessitates grappling with sensitive issues such as gender stereotypes, discrimination, and the intersectionality of oppression, which can be emotionally taxing and intellectually demanding. Additionally, crafting a compelling argument in support of Girl Power requires balancing optimism with realism. While celebrating progress and achievements, it's essential to acknowledge persistent challenges and areas where further strides are needed. This requires striking a delicate balance between highlighting success stories and advocating for meaningful change. In essence, writing an essay on Girl Power entails navigating through a complex web of historical, sociocultural, and political factors while maintaining a coherent and persuasive narrative. It demands thorough research, critical analysis, and empathy towards the diverse experiences of women worldwide. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. • 2. A Project Manager For Monitor And Control The Execution Of... Once a project is begun, it is important for a project manager to monitor and control the execution of the endeavor. A project manager must observe and examine how the work is progressing, the costs, application of the resources required, and if the schedule is being sustained with the overall project plan. This is especially important when a project manageruses the earned value management(EVM) system to track and monitor an undertaking. EVM and variance management must have accurate material and labor costs accounted in order to be an effective tool. Labor and Material Costs Resources are essential for completion for any project, but must be managed differently because of the constraints and accounting each specifically demands. Labor, materials, and equipment fall under the definition of resources and how they are managed within a project will greatly impact the endeavor (Larson Gray, 2014). An important resource for a project is the human resource or labor and the skills that each individual brings to the project team. Ordinarily, direct labor is classified by skills and the costs related to provide those skills to complete the work. Direct labor costs are normally calculated by multiplying the hours required to complete the task by the salary scale designated for the task. Indirect labor costs encompass any support staff that is not directly involved within the project, like human resource, administrative, and other ancillary staff (Webb, 2016). Even though these
  • 3. Personal Statement For Marine Biology Personal Statement Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family encouraged the most. Not just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open minded and passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They always stress how sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the long run. The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology degree is a fifth grader s dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing coral reefs to die out which houses thousands of organisms homes and food sources. Due to the contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every day. Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the oceanic life from these horrible conditions. Also, the career of marine biology can take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the Bahamas all the way to the depths of the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage
  • 4. Understanding Our Country s Founding Fathers I think it is of high importance to understand a little more about the personal lives of our country s Founding Fathers. Understanding the peculiarities of their lives gives us a greater understanding of why they developed our Constitution the way that they did. It also gives us an excellent insight as to what was developing in their minds as they worked to develop a set of rules and standards that sets us apart from other developing nations during the same time period. I feel that delving into their psyche, so to speak, gives us a better understanding of the controversies we have today because we can form a more rational basis as to why our country was conceived in the way that it was. I have attempted to take a more formal role in our various political spectrums, and books such as this one has helped me to do so. As I pursue a Master s of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, this book sets my mind up to understand the sophisticated views and philosophies that our nation was framed under. The book is divided into three parts: the Firebrands, the Federalists, and the Republicans and there is a considerable amount of time discussing the major players within those three constructs. The Firebrands were those who tried to get people angry and doing something about a particular political or social cause. William Livingston and the Lees of Stratford Hall comprise the individuals who first conceived the notion of a revolt leading to the American Revolution. The

  • 6. Expository Writing During the semester, the class was assigned writing tasks that were intended to showcase our strengths and weaknesses in our writing. We were forced to think outside the box and expand on ideas in our readings. In the beginning of the semester, I was not certain what to except from this course. Writing has never been my strong suit, early in the semester I struggled with the writings. In high school, English class was not my favorite subject causing me to not gain the knowledge I should have, coming into this course with a poor knowledge about expository and narrative writing. Once I entered this course, the information that was received about expository and narrative writing helped me tremendously. I became accustomed to the new writing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My weakness that was evident in my writing was my grammar, I made a few mistakes that could ve been fixed had I revised my grammar more intently. Overall I enjoyed this writing because it was based off a topic that I could relate to easily. I learned that if I organize my ideas prior to writing, it makes it a lot easily to write about. Reflection: The prompt of the reflection was to reflect on a topic and question it. I wrote about love and why it is that we love certain things. In my writing, I explained how individuals fall in love based off quality memories that they have of that a person, place, or thing. My purpose was to provide the reader with enough information to convince them that love is based off memories. The toughest challenge that I faced was finding enough information to support my claim. Through multiple hours of searching the web I was able to find enough information that supported my claim and was satisfied with my draft that was submitted. While I was revising my paper my focus was to eliminate any grammatical and or spelling errors that may have been made. Throughout my writing the strength of it was my sensory imagery, when I talked about my grandmother s home I made sure to give the reader a good mental image. Another strength that was evident in my writing was my personal experiences, giving a perspective from my eyes to give the reader a better sense of what I was trying to say. The weakness of this paper was my
  • 7. Solution Of Water Pollution Introduction People usually don t check the water they drink before drinking it because they trust that just because it is in the bottle, water fountain, refrigerator (etc.) that it is free of pollutants, but that is not always the case. Water pollution in drinking water is very common and dangerous because the bacteria/pollutants can cause health problems that lead to death. There are a variety of diseases and bacterias that lead to the health problems. What is water pollution? Water pollution is generally described as a contaminated body of water. Water pollution is caused by pollutants like chemicals and compounds. The Georgia Holt Environmental Science Textbook defines water pollution as the introduction of chemicals, physical, or biological agents into water that degrades water quality and adversely affect the organisms that depend on water. These waters can be lakes, swamps, oceans, gulfs, rivers, aquifer and etc. Almost all water pollution comes from industrialization and rapid population growth. Water pollution affects every aspect of life from humans, plants, and animals. Water makes up 70% of the earth so water pollution affects animal life such as the animals that live in water are affected because they can become sick and die off and can affect the rest of the food chain which can affect the humans that eat them. That contamination now is spread to the human population which negatively affects our communities and
  • 8. People Across The Nation By Fred Astaire Throughout time there has been a constant ebb and flow of civilizations developing, imploding or being actively destroyed by stronger societies. From the Renaissance to the World Wars, the existence of the human race has never been a question. Even through times of despair and prosperity, the human race has persisted and even advanced itself. Improvements in technology, medicine, education, and communication have increased the life capacity, expectancy, and satisfaction of people every day. However, even with these well intentioned efforts to improve the humanrace, ultimately our humanity has been adversely affected. Instead, we are now driven by a selfish desire to advance our personal agendas and achieve celebrity status. These misguided behaviors have become the new norm . Fred Astaire sums this surrender of compassion into one amazing quote: The hardest job kids face today is learning good manners without seeing any. Even though Astaire s statement contradicts the beliefs of many people across the nation, it shows insight into the true problem. Positive social interactions are no longer a normalized aspect of human life. While the vanishing of respect for one another has hit the mainstream more recently; the issue has been around for multiple centuries. This pattern and its consequences had already drawn the attention of European and American observers by the early 19th century (Fass 85). Yet, we have not tried to fix the issue, but only allowed the bad behavior

If a pulse was measured and recorded as student 1 s results, the same person is to be used again as student 1, or therefore results would be inaccurate. If it were to be two different people being measured for student 1 s results column, results would be inaccurate because two people may have different pulses, breathing rates and carbon dioxide productions. One person may be more calm, or more energetic than the other, and those factors would give uneven results. There was not enough time to complete the full investigation, therefore results for table 3, the carbon dioxide production, was taken from another group. This has affected data, making it inaccurate, because these results were measured on other group members. Another factor that could have affected this investigation is the exercise type. The same exercise is to be completed by all members of the group throughout the whole investigation. They have evolved to be parasitic as they attach to the female anglerfish for nutrition. The reproduction process of anglerfish, is an interesting example of sexual dysmorphism. A male anglerfish bites into the female anglerfish with its teeth and attaches to the female. As the male s mouth and the female s skin weld the male loses all organs except for his testes and his vision. The female plays the biggest role in the relationship as she controls the food, and attracts the prey with her lure. This extreme case of sexual dysmorphism allows the female anglerfish to spawn whenever she needs to as she always has a mate available. The sperm travels through the mouth of a female and is fertilized to form a zygote. When the female is ready to produce her eggs, she lays them on a sheet made of jelly like substance two to three feet by 30 feet long. The sheet floats to the top of the ocean and when the eggs are ready they hatch and become larvae. Then the larvae eat plankton to sustain themselves, and eventually travel back to the bottom of the ocean as they grow older. The average female/male anglerfish has 46 chromosomes. Anglerfish are categorized by their genes, They are characterized by the dorso ventrally compressed morphology of the head and body, a wide and cavernous mouth, thin skin, an absence of scales and swimbladder, and a modified first dorsal fin ray (illicium) with a terminal esca, which serves as a lure. Everything terrible happens at night. Every death, every tragedy, anything for that matter, happens at night. The significance that Elie Wiesel was trying to imply about night was a form of darkness. Darkness, as in danger. Darkness as in loneliness; loneliness as in sadness; sadness as in death. The symbol of death is expressed by the main character of the novel, Eliezer. The echo of words that have been spoken during the day takes a new and deeper meaning, Elie Wiesel. The tittle night is one example of symbolism. The night stands for suffering and hopelessness and the dark time in Elie s life. There are many examples of symbolism in the novel Night by Elie Weisel. Three examples that I m going to discuss are: Elie s inheritance, the use of fire, and Elie s use of the word corpses. The first example of symbolism is the spoon and knife. Linux kernel developers designed kernel modules that could be loaded and unloaded at runtime. Based on the five concepts in Wolfflin s Principles of Art History to compare and contrast two artworks: Delivery of the Keys (about 1481 1482) by Pietro Perugino, which is created with high Renaissance style, and Raising of the Cross (about 1610 1611) by Peter Paul Rubensis created with Baroquestyle. After playing around, a genre called acid house emerged in Chicago clubs. By 1987, London had caught onto house music and later introduced acid house to the clubgoers. By the early 1990 s, organizations began holding raves in the UK at warehouses or in fields, and new genres of house called happy hardcore and jungle became popular. As genres grew, setting up shows became difficult. By 1992, raves in the UK started taking place in licensed venues in order to avoid confrontation with law enforcement. Throughout the 1990 s house music took off and new subgenres emerged in the rave scene (Simms). Just as punk music took hold in New York from the UK in the 1980 s, raves and house music followed suit in the 1990 s. In 1992, DJ Scotto put on the first rave in Manhattan, New York. Several people go to raves, not only for the music, but also for the community raves provides. After attending raves for the past couple years, I have learned that several ravers attend raves because they feel accepted. Several ravers have a tough home life and at raves they feel free to act like themselves and feel free from judgement. With a lack of a reliable family in their lives, these ravers tend to make their own rave families . Individuals in these families tend to look out and support one
  • 33. Organization Structure And The Organizational Structure Of... Starbucks uses a matrix organization structure similar to most big corporations. The functional feature of Starbucks departmentalization is having an HR department, finance department and a marketing department. These departments are only utilized at the top levels of Starbucks organizational structure, mainly its headquarters. For example, the HR department would typically implement a new policy and that policy would apply to all Starbucks cafГ©s. This facilitates top down monitoring and control with the CEO at the top. Doing this helps the company maintain consistency throughout its stores and allows for employees to know what is expected of them. Starbucks also involves geographic divisions, which are mainly in the Chinese, American and European markets with each division having a vice president. This allows for each manager to only have to report to two superiors, the geographic CEO and the functional CEO. This helps for closer geographical needs and each division is given a high degree of flexibility in strategy and policy. Next, Starbucks uses product based divisions that address product lines such as coffee, baked goods, merchandise, etc. Starbucks is a brand and they market their own merchandise with supports from its organizational structure. Finally, teams are also used with its most notable team structure being the baristas. They work together to make the product which are given to the customer that can watch it being made. It takes a team to provide top notch
  • 34. The Construct Of Empathy, By Great Thinkers From Various... The construct of empathy attracts the interest of academics from various fields of study, particularly in subfields of psychology. Its function and associated processes in moral development have been discussed for centuries by great thinkers from various disciplines. Hoffman (1982) defines empathy as an affective response more appropriate to another s situation than one s own . Nonetheless, the notion of empathy has always been a complex concept, and the lack of uniformity in the usage and understanding of the term underlying the multiple definitions and conceptualizations implies that there is no correct definition. In other words, there seems to be a pregnant ambiguous consensus on how we empathise with others. However, one could rightfully argue that this ambiguity echoes the multidimensional aspect of empathy that involves not only automatic and emotional aspects but also aspects of a more reflective and conceptual kind. Due to empathy s value in our society, multiple attempts have been made to develop instruments and procedures, varying from cross species comparative studies (Flombaum Santos, 2005; Silk, Brosnan, Vonk, Henrich, Povinelli, Richardson, et al., 2005) to characterizing the neural basis of empathy using fMRI (Singer, 2006; Singer Lamm, 2009). Psychologists have consistently worked on conceptualizing and ultimately measuring empathy. Such efforts led to the development of countless instruments, with the most common ones being self report

  • 36. Purpose Of Simple Distillation Of Heptane Purpose The purpose of this lab was to use simple distillation and fractional distillation to separate an unknown mixture of heptane and hexane. Additionally, gas chromatography (GC) was used to analyze and determine the percent composition of three samples taken during fractional distillation. Theory Hexane is mainly produced by refining crude oil and the exact composition depends on the source of the oil and the refining process. A significant amount of hexane is found in gasoline and other types of hexane are used as solvents in labs. Heptane is widely used as a non polar solvent in lab. It is important in gasoline production because it standardizes the zero point for the octane scale. It is also used in paint, coatings, and rubber cement. Simple distillation is a process that can be used to separate a volatile compound from a nonvolatile compound or to separate two or more volatile compounds whose boiling points differ by at least 40 50В°C. Hexane and heptane are two organic liquids that follow ideal like behavior. This means that there are no interactions between particles in the gas phase once their normal boiling points are reached. However, heptane and hexane s boiling points are less than 30В°C apart which means they cannot be effectively separated using simple distillation. Fractional distillation is used to separate compounds that have similar boiling points. In fractional distillation, a long fractional column is used so that vapors spend a longer time in the

In The Matrix, majority of the human population lives within a computer simulated world, run by machines. In both instances, the audience is intentionally lead by false interpretations, as to prove that individuals are constantly being manipulated unbeknownst to them. Neuromancer demonstrates this omnipresence of manipulation, as the audience is controlled by the author himself. Throughout the novel, Gibson s distinct word choice not only encapsulates the audience, but also forces the novel to be read from a certain perspective. For example, Gibson describes the atmosphere of Ninsei, by saying By day, the bars down Ninsei were shuttered and featureless, the neon dead, the holograms inert, waiting, under the poisoned silver sky (Gibson 7). Gibson could simply have stated that the street was dark, and the sky was cloudy. However, he makes the conscious effort of wording the sentence with metaphors, and analogies in order to convey the cynical perspective from which the audience is to observe the story. The impact of word choice is shown again in The Matrix, as an agent justifies its horrific intentions by saying Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we are the cure (The Matrix). The agent is able to rationalize its intent, through the use of euphemisms. Similar to the characters of both the novel and the movie, the audience is manipulated, by the author, because they are unaware. Manipulation is a result of human ignorance; individuals who are unaware of their society, are prone to manipulation. In Neuromancer,

For Mexican President and General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, it was a tale of determination and holding to the principles of a strong, central government. For Americans living in Texas, the Alamo was a venture of small scale Revolutionary ideals; a people should be able to democratically express how they feel their homeland to be governed. As we know, both countries experienced the extreme opposites of their desired outcomes, if only initially. For many Americans moving to Mexico, it was a chance for a new beginning. Drunkards who couldn t make it anywhere else, shoemakers who had fallen on hard times, educated lawyers, those evading law enforcement, and even those who simply were drawn by the promise of land all came with hopes and dreams of beginning anew. After all, it would be hard to ignore the call of 4,428 acres of land for thirty dollars and an extra 160 acres for every child. The only thing asked in return was that each immigrant take the Mexican oath of allegiance and proclaim to the Catholic faith, even if in name only. Inscribing G.T.T (Gone to Texas) on a slip of paper or etching it into their cabin door, regardless of circumstance, meant one thing: a fresh start. This scenario would appear to be working out smashingly for both sides from 1824 to 1831. However, the snowball s origin that would lead to the decline of Mexican American relations can be traced back to this point surrounding this time period. In 1830, the Mexican government passed a series of laws to halt American

Obesity could be stopped if citizens chose better drinks in fact , obesity rates could be reduced by 1 to 4 percentage points if sugary beverages are taxed moderately (Sahadi). By putting a tax on these beverages Americans will be less likely to buy them. Although the percentage change is not that high it will prevent many citizens in choosing this unhealthy lifestyle. A risk that could result from being obese is diabetes. Diabetes is a common disease in the U.S. today, for the average child born today, there is a 50 /50 chance, if lifestyles do not change, that they will develop Type 2 diabetes or other physical diseases and conditions that are associated with being overweight ( 11 pros ). Give a child the best opportunity they could have. Kids deserve to be fed the right food and beverage choices, so they will be prevented from the high risk of diabetes. Everyone should be cautious on the amount of soda they consume, one study, for example, found for every can of soda a person drinks per day, he or she is 30 percent more likely to become obese increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases (Blanding). Soda is a huge leading cause to health effects. Anytime a human decides to put soda into their bodies they are putting themselves at risk.
