Introduction to Information Technology
Introduction The environment of information technology is dynamic and fast changing which explains
the changes in current educational systems which could be going in the directional of transformational
than incremental. Some of researchers believe that it might be the end of an era for university
campuses since they have been known currently to be identifying a change within the traditional
paradigm of learning. Even though education is adopting the information technology faster as it is
being considered to be of positive change than negative change, the changes towards this information
technology could be of detrimental to the education. Due to this introduction of information
technology in the education sector, there are many detrimental that can be realized with this, for
example, Joo (1998) argues that teachers could be removed from classrooms. This is because lecturers
are taken to be never anymore a major source of information towards students for materials that they
were using at one time can now be gotten freely to any individual and hence devaluated.
Attendance in classes tends to reduce because students just meet with tutors in any case there is rise of
a problem and if there is a synchronous solution which is needed. Hutchison (1998) as well considers
face to face lecturing little more as compared to filter for the process of learning, even though both
students are capable of studying and learning the curriculum with textbooks which are recommended.

Shiloh Literary Analysis
What makes a seemingly normal book a classic? Literary lenses. One of those classic books, Shiloh by
Phyllis Reynolds, shows the reader justice, difficult choices, and allows the reader to discover how it
uses literary lenses to become a classic. By studying the novel through various literary lenses, the
reader can see different perspectives which is important because it brings more depth and dimension,
making Shiloh a children s classic.
Word choice, figures of speech, literary devices, symbols, themes in Shiloh help bring the book to life
(shows new perspectives). Using this lense in text greatly enhances the reader s understanding of the
novel. As stated in Shiloh, [...]but if he wanders off again, I ll whup the daylights out of him .
(Reynolds, 27). This quote vaguely suggests that this takes place in the 1900 s, reminding the reader
that reading in between the lines is key to thoroughly understanding the book. This novel also states,
My dream sort of leaks out like water in a paper bag. (Reynolds, 21). This quote underpins the idea of
how close reading greatly affects how the readers perceive an ... Show more content on

My ma packs us a lunch and lets us eat it out in the woods. Mrs. Howard always sits down to eat with
us and talks about grown up things. (Reynolds, 69). This quote demonstrates how the main character,
Marty, and his friend, David, have contrasting ways of living. Marty lives a more simple and humble
life, while his friend lives more opulently. Like word choice, binaries too help the reader understand
the novel in a more in depth way. The book also states, For the first time I can tell Dad s getting
impatient with me. Now you get of your head right now. If it s Travers s dog, it s no mind of ours how
he treats it. (Reynolds, 24). This quote demonstrates how binaries can be seen, spoken, and even
thought. In this example, Marty has opposing opinions with his father about about a dog named

Zumwalt Class Survivors Research Paper
In the world of military matters, the United States is on the forefront of military technology, tactics,
and personnel, especially with the recently commissioned Zumwalt Class Destroyers. Recently within
the U.S. Navy specifically, there have been many upgrades and changes, mainly due to the need for
upgrades within the many different areas of the fleet. With the newly designed Zumwalt class
currently being built by General Dynamics by Bath Iron Works, the Navy has done just that. The
Zumwalt Class Destroyers received their naming after the former US Navy Chief of Naval Operations,
Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Jr, who served in the position from 1970 1974. Two of the ships are
currently being built and one, the USS Zumwalt DDG 1000, already beginning its sea trials. The
original plan was to build thirty two of these priced vessels back when the planning originally stated,
each with a price of $3.3 billion. Subsequently thought, over time price for each ship increase to more
than $9 billion, so the program was cut down to only three in 2009. These three ships will be the
largest ships ever built. Each ship comes out to be 610 ft. in length and over 15,000 tons when
displaced, sixty five percent larger than the exsisting 9,500 ton Aegis cruisers. With a vessel this size,

Bringing The Past With You Short Story

The Consequences of Bringing the Past with You Immediately into Tim O Brien s short story The
Things They Carried the reader is introduced to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross and the letters he
carried from his past back home. Throughout the story, readers are also introduced to other items and
supplies which were largely determined by necessity (O Brien 1) as well as items deemed a luxury
that each individual soldier carried with him for one reason or another. Pictures, memorabilia, and
personal items all acted as a gateway into a portal which would bring them back home to the ones they
loved if only for five minutes at a time. Although the pictures, memorabilia and personal items of
Cross and his soldiers alike, helped them recall back to an era much more peaceful, the consequences
of bringing the past with you can carry exceedingly negative side effects.
Within the short story, the audience learns that Jimmy Cross carries letters and pictures from his crush
from back home, Martha. Multiple times within the story Jimmy Cross consults these pictures and
letters to distract himself from the war providing a bit of comfort in his harsh environment. With
progression through the story, readers find Jimmy Cross continuously reviewing the pictures and
letters from his dear Martha, letting his mind drift off thinking about her, distracting him from his
duties at hand. These distractions happen more and more often, eventually leading to the most
harrowing consequence. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross s divergence from his important tasks at hand,
result in Ted Lavender being killed while under the supervision of Cross himself. This being the key
turning point for Cross, as he starts to realize his lapse in judgment and focus, had directly cost the life
of one of his soldiers. This resulting in him discovering that the pictures and letters from Martha, he
was using as hope for his future back home, and comfort from the issues at hand, were the stemming
source of all his problems and distractions, which ultimately cost the life of his soldier. Because of this
realization, Cross burns the pictures and letters from Martha, which he was holding onto in hopes that

Difference Between 16th And 17th Century Courtship
The 16th and 17th Century Laws On Love. The 16th and 17th century society had parents connected
to courtships, a very formal courtship, and ending with an Elizabethan Church wedding.. Back in the
16th and 17th century many things were different from how they are today, especially marriage and
courtship. Back then parents had entire control over the courtship. A courtship back in the day looked
very different from anything we have now. In the 16th and 17th century s normal marriage in England
followed the Elizabethan Church wedding rules. Also it s the exact kind of wedding William
Shakespeare had. Today s relationships and marriages are completely different than those of the 16th
and 17th century.
In the 16th and 17th century parents had control over the courtship and marriage of their children.
Parents power over their children related even in courtships. Marriage of the children looked to the
parents as nothing more than a trading of property. Unless the parents die, then the couple s town and
church are in control. The parents have to write a legal contract in order for the first step of their
marriage process to begin. First in the start of the courtship both the man and the woman have to have

Finding Christian Imagery in The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Many people read Samuel Coleridge s ballad, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and find various and
complex symbols. Among these symbols are spiritual and religious analogies. The poem connects God
and Nature and the way that God is represented in All things great and small, (Coleridge 7.617). There
is an allegorical nature of Coleridge s work best found in his Christ like albatross. The bird itself
become a Christ figure in which the poem illustrates the necessity for love, sacrifice, and sometimes
suffering.
We see that all humans are in communion with Christ and our actions affect each other directly as we
are all connected through Christ.

Here we see that that the mariner s actions affected his crew as well because even though the crew was
not a part of the killing. The people that surrounded him suffered with him up to a certain point.
Showing that Christ want unity of man so they can help each other become better.
The poem opens with the ancient mariner telling his story to a wedding party. He tell the story of the
albatross and the dead of his crew that followed his slaying of the bird. The bird represents Christ
through connecting Christianity to veneration for nature. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner Has a

The Most Significant Moment In My Life
We all have that moment in life that changes us in some ways. I think back at events in my life, as an
example the births of my children that caused me to grow into a mother and the woman I am today.
However, there is a moment in my life, after my children, I was psychologically lost. This moment
changed my life forever! I was married for thirteen years with five children. During these thirteen
years, I would be the head of the house hold and ensured structure in the house. My husband at the
time, was an addict and in/out of prison. We attempt counseling and all types of treatment. The last six
years together, we were very involved in church. My faith in God grew and I believed my husband
could be delivered from this addition. I had to be the strong one in the family, the rock, the foundation
of our house to give the perception to people we were okay. After trying everything possible, I
realized, only he can be in recovery of addiction, I cannot make him. I had to make the decision to
break up my family for the safety of my children. After my separation, I became angry. My faith was
questionable, and I was angry at God. My family was torn, we lived with a friend in a small room. My
step children had to live with their mom because I could not afford to keep them. I no longer felt
strong, or had structure in my house. The feeling of failure and the mourning of the loss of my family
was overwhelming. I began to drink alcohol every day. My daily routine would consist of going to
work and as soon as I got out I would stop and get a Smirnoff Black, go home, cook for the three kids,
leave work out, drink and go out, go home at two am. The next six months, I did not care about
anything or anyone. I allowed these feelings to consume me. In September 2013, the first week, I was
driving drunk, I swerved and ran my mirror in to the wall. The second week, I was drunk and could
not leave the parking lot of a club, until the following morning. The third week, I was driving drunk to
a friend s house, and I remember fighting with him at the door way, and he asked me to leave. The
next thing I remember I woke up in a stranger s car, holding a blanket to my chin full of blood. The
young gentleman driving said, Miss, you

US Consumer Culture
While the US consumer culture has many different goods that encapsulate its uniqueness, nothing
quite represents the US than its trash. You are probably asking yourself at this point how a country s
waste can have any importance at all in its consumer culture. Waste is one output every company, no
matter its size, must be concerned with. With the ever present climate problems our society faces,
proper disposal of waste is a necessity. Luckily for companies in the US, they have found a way to
capitalize through strategic marketing and planned obsolescence. Yet, unfortunately for consumers,
they are often taken advantage of without knowledge of the occurrence. The true American view on
consumerism, where products are bought with a short term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are the manufacturers and corporations whose main concern largely is to profit. there are the
environmentalists who want to preserve the community and promote recycling to help diminish the
landfills. Then there are the consumers: some who buy what is cheap, and often created with planned
obsolescence in mind, some who buy with the environment in mind, but do little research to ensure it
is a wholesome company, and then there are those who to extensive research to make sure they are
hurting the environment as little as possible. Consumers have the opportunity to make conscious
decisions to help our environment, but the reality behind products is well hidden and needs to be
brought to higher attention. Waste epitomizes the American consumer culture to continuously buy new
products, and not think about the harm it is causing the environment. Recycling has evolved over time
into a ploy to make consumers spend more money, and is causing more harm to the environment by
increasing the amount of packaging used over product. The growing consumerist culture can be
attributed to the increased greenwashing scheme. Is it morally right for companies to increase their
waste in order to make more

Pediatric Intervention Proposal
Overview of the Problem
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children be screened for
developmental delays using a standardized tool at 9, 18 and 30 months of life. Use of a standardized
tool has been shown to improve rates of referral for early intervention and decrease delays in referral
when compared with developmental surveillance alone. In our hospital outpatient clinic system,
pediatric care is provided both in a 2 site pediatric practice and in 5 affiliated family practice clinics;
care is provided by pediatricians, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners and physician
assistants. Preliminary assessment has found that there is vast variation in the use and documentation

The clinics are quite different in terms of provider training, size, location, practice mix and clinic flow.
A single quality improvement plan that doesn t look at current practice structure is unlikely to be
successful in all locations. It would be very helpful to do a site visit at each location and qualitatively
assess how early childhood preventative visits are scheduled, what screening processes are currently
in place, what training staff have currently on developmental assessment and how documentation is
done. Because there are only seven sites, it is feasible to map out exactly how developmental
screening fits into preventative care or doesn t at each location. At this visit, we could assess staff
views on developmental screening, their perceptions about how implementation would affect the
practice and their interest in being a site champion. It would also be useful to find out which screening
tools different practices are using; the different tools assess somewhat different information and
require differing levels of education and time to administer. The site visits would provide information
on both the structure of care and the process of developmental screening at the

The Musical Genre Of Reggae
The musical genre, reggae, was originally coined in the 1960s. Derived from rege rege Jamaican for
rags or ragged clothing the genre was used to describe the raggedy music style found in Jamaica at the
time. Reggae incorporates the traditional Jamaican music such as mento and ska, rhythm blues, and
rocksteady. Ska characteristics such as the walking bass line of the guitar and piano off beats are used
in reggae. However, ska is much faster than reggae, so the use of rocksteady in the genre slows the ska
tempo. Reggae songs are heavily backbeated, meaning the music has highly emphasized second and
fourth beats; this style is typically found in African based musical genres. In reggae s foundation,
artists typically wrote of love, but the seventies foresaw the use of socio political and religious lyrics.
To English listeners, reggae lyrics are nearly incomprehensible. For example, Jah means God, and
Ganga is the Jamaican slang term for marijuana, a medical herb Rastafarians smoked to feel closer to
God. Since those not of this faith do not understand the importance of marijuana, reggae lyrics often
get misinterpreted as getting high.
Never the less, reggae music first rose to international acclaim in the 1970s following the release of
the movie, The Harder They Came, a story of a young man traveling through urban Jamaica. The
movie s soundtrack was comprised entirely of reggae music, skyrocketing the genre into the
mainstream. Despite the movie s success in

Moonrise Kingdom Analysis
The film, Moonrise Kingdom, follows the story of two 12 year olds in New England, Sam and Suzy,
who run away together to an island in order to pursue their loving relationship. A search party for the
pair ensues before chaos can erupt due to an oncoming storm.
A theme throughout the movie that stood out to me was the contrast of child fantasy and reality. Suzy
and Sam both suffer with dysfunctional and loveless relationships, Sam being an orphan, and Suzy
struggling with feeling accepted in her family, and surrounded by parents that do not love each other.
In order to escape their hardships, they turn to running away together. They form their idea of paradise
in doing this, being able to disregard their family situations, and create a bond that they would have
otherwise never had with anybody else before. I found the idea of the cove they run away together to,
and the techniques Anderson combines with it, a very interesting concept. The cove is supposed to be
a symbol of perfection and familiarity for the young lovers, but Anderson uses the impending storm to
show that love, even in its purest form, is never flawless. I found this very intriguing, and thought
provoking since a lot of people do describe love as perfect, and that being in love is the best time of
your life. I noticed, in order to emphasise his point, Anderson used dark clouds and grey skies while
they were on their paradise island, whereas typical romance movies would have bright blue, sunshine

Corporate Social Responsibility Of The Enron Corporation
Introduction We will look at the Enron Corporation and discuss its application of Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) or in actuality its irresponsible behavior as related to social responsibility. We
will revisit what CSR is and discuss Enron s philosophy regarding its use and function within the
corporation. We will discuss the consequences of Enron s irresponsible behavior and the far reaching
effects it had on society. Corporate Social Responsibility are actions taken by a corporation that have
positive and lasting impact for all stakeholders associated with the organization, seeking to strike a
balance between profits and helping to establish lasting investment in the community (Carrol, 2015).
In the 1980 s, then President Reagan challenged the business community to take on more
responsibility to address social problems (Carrol, 2015). Socially responsible actions can benefit local
communities as well as the greater societal good.
Oddly enough, Enron had a CSR strategy with a very good reputation for having a strong and well
respected corporate responsibility known for generosity to the community and being environmentally
responsible. (Sims Brinkmann, 2003). In hindsight we see that they were playing CSR. Former CFO,
Jeff Skilling once told a colleague, Mike, we are a green energy company, but the green stands for
money (Bradley, 2008). The public should be very cautious when it comes to companies and their

The Advantages And Pros And Cons Of A Wireless Body Sensor...
Abstract The growth of population now a day is resulting in immense pressure on healthcare service.
Population residing in remote areas such as villages are devoid of good health check up facility.
Therefore it is utmost necessary that to make it accessible to them. A basic Wireless Body Sensor
Network (WBSN) consisting of sensors that can collect the physiological data of a person is used for
this purpose. The collected data is then transported to the doctors for its analysis, which can be
efficiently done using VANETs. In addition to that, data can be automatically analysed by smart
vehicles to check for emergency situations. In such case any nearby health service can be contacted
and rushed to the patient. An analysis of the various architectures for this purpose is done in this paper
and pros and cons are investigated to enlighten the future research.

Complex Interrelationship Among The Cardiovascular System
There is a complex interrelationship among the cardiovascular system, the central nervous system
(Na+, appetite and thirst regulation), the kidneys, and the tissue capillary beds distribution of
extracellular fluid volume). Any change at any of these sites affects the function at other sites. There is
a basic law of kidneys that Na+ excretion is directly proportional to mean arterial blood pressure
(MABP). A marginal increase in MABP causes significant increase in Na+ excretion. Redistribution
of blood flow between outer cortex and medulla alters salt and water excretion. The majority of Na+
ion is reabsorbed by the thick ascending loop of Henley, the length of loop of Henley effects the
amount of Na+ reabsorbed.

What Does The Poison Tree Represent
A symbol is a person, a place, a creature, an article, or an occasion inside of a bit of composing that
exists on a literal level additionally alludes to something on a figurative level. In relationship with
William Blake s the poison tree, the idea of a tree that is toxic take us back to the Tree of Knowledge
of good and evil from the book of Genesis. Likewise the title of this poem represents its central
symbol. That the speaker sustains his anger against a foe, and it develops into a tree bearing poisonous
fruit. typically, Poison reveals death, malicious; it is normally given to somebody with a specific end

In line 10, the speakers outrage bears an apple splendid. The apple represents the indignation which

In line 13, the garden as a symbol alludes to the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Knowledge which the

the Back End is what is not directly visible to the user. The average yearly salary for a Front End Web

Chicano San Diego Book Report
Chicano San Diego Cultural Space and the Struggle for Justice edited by Richard Griswold Del
Castillo
This book illuminates the challenges and obstacles Chicano residents of Southeast San Diego have
endured since the inception of their communities. Through multiple essays, it is pointed out that the
efforts to fight for equal access have an added dimension due to its close proximity to the U.S
Mexican border. This relates to my topics because the struggles of San Diego are not only local, but
national and international because the people that are negatively impacted by these issues such as
environmental are immigrants. I hope to use this book to connect the national debate on immigration
with the struggle for environmental justice because it is unfair that the people who do the least
environmental damage are the ones suffering the most.

Prescription Drugs Affecting Teens
Teens are highly affected by drugs around the world but training has begun to stop it. Along with brain
damage and lung damage. Countless teens around the world use drugs for social advantages. The
United States represents 5% of the world s population and 75% of prescription drugs taken. 60% of
teens who abuse prescription drugs get them free from friends and relatives. Doctors are already
trained to find ways to help.If teens smoke too much it can cause them to die or overdose.
Avoiding the danger
Avoiding danger, such as drugs is difficult because you are so pressured by friends and family it
becomes a hassle just looking at a sign for marijuana. Here are three ways to avoid the dangers of
drugs. 1. Saying no is a great way to start as it gets` most people off your back. 2.If they are still
pestering you then you need to consult an authority figure are an responsible grown up. The adult will
then consult the harasser and hopefully they will leave you alone. 3. If all those fail, try your absolute

Exxon Valdez and the Recovery of Prince William Sound Essay
Exxon Valdez and the Recovery of Prince William Sound
Approximately eleven years ago, an area of Alaska s southern coast known as Prince William Sound
was a disaster area. A nauseating scent of rotting carcasses and oil filtered through the air. Sea birds
screamed in anguish as they fought to survive with oil drenched feathers. Under the surface billions of
organisms ceased to live due to the toxicity of the inescapable wrath of the blackened water. Prince
William Sound had once been a place of beauty and grace, now it was home to an environmental
deathbed. The media broadcast pictures of this nearly unbearable scene throughout the world. Most
people, including myself, wondered if the ecological war zone would ever recover ... Show more

Massive cleanup efforts were initiated within a few weeks of the spill and they continued at reduced
levels for the next three years. Approximately 14% of the spilled oil was recovered by cleanup crews
(Newsweek, p.50). As a result of these efforts and natural weathering, little oil from the spill remained
in the affected area by 1992. However, according to the National Oceanic and Atmosphere
Administration some oil residues are still found under the ocean surface in areas sheltered from wind
and waves. Yet, these residues are highly weathered and the toxicity is reduced to levels tolerable by
organisms in the water (7). Nonetheless, the magnitude and timing of the Exxon Valdez oil spill raised
immediate concerns about possible effects on marine fish and wildlife and prospects that these effects
might be long lasting. Professors John Wiens and David Page spent many years studying theses effects
of the oil spill and they presented their findings at the International Oil Spill Conference in Seattle,
March 8 11, 1999. Their findings contain the most recent results of the ongoing studies in Prince
William Sound. Through extensive work with three different groups of animals affected by the spill,
they have exhibited a remarkable recovery by the ecosystem of Prince William Sound (Wiens, Page et

Ancient Roman And The Roman Empire
The Ancient Roman s had a wicked idea of entertainment. The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as
the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an elliptical amphitheater in the center of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of
concrete and stone, it is the largest amphitheater ever built and is considered one of the greatest works
of architecture and engineering. The Roman Colosseum, constructed in 79 AD, is a visual
representation of the importance of physical strength and military proficiency in Ancient Roman
civilization, this is because it was constructed to revel Rome s military accomplishments and to

Vespasian sat on the Roman throne from AD70 79. (Sims et al., 1999) proposes that Vespasian was the

citizens with the giving of bread and entertainment, Vespasian wanted to impress visitors and the
general public. Being able to build a vast structure showed that the government took care of its people
and was wealthy. It essentially also showed the emperor s power. Emperor Vespasian used the
construction of the Colosseum to gain popularity and support throughout his empire. His name was
not to be forgotten, as well as Titus who was the successor and heir of Vespasian. Jewish slaves
assisted in the construction of the Colosseum in a form of slave labour.
Jewish slaves were the forced builders of the Colosseum and it was accomplished with slave labor.
Due to failure in the Great Revolt, 20,000 Jewish slaves were brought over to Rome to build the
Colosseum. (Mathias, 2011) proposed that another 70,000 Jewish slaves were used to quarry stones
for the Colosseum, haling over 292,000 cartloads of stone from the Tivoli which was 17 miles away

Temple, as the empire was broke at the time due to the Great Revolt. The construction project took 8

Essay on American Hawaii
American Hawaii
American Hawaii Hawaii is known for its beautiful beaches, it amp;#8217;s nice year round weather,
and its culture. Thousands of vacationers come to Hawaii each year to get away from the stressful city
and relax. But do they know how cruel the Americans were to the natives? Do they know how we
corrupted their culture and their religion? Do they know how Hawaii really became a state? Probably
not. When most people think of Hawaii, they think of happy Hawaiian babes hula dancing and palm
trees swaying in the warm breeze. Hawaii has still held on to many of their traditions although they
were invaded by Americans. But you have to go to a museum to see their old way of life. Hawaii is

These religious radicals started a domino affect of the Hawaiian religion. The Hawaiians destroyed
and burned their feared idols. The people who still held on the old belifes were murdered. This goes to
show how a religion can either hold a society together or tear it apart. Henry Obookiah was born in
Hawaii. His family was murdered in a war between neighboring islands. He decided to find a new life
in America, so he hopped aboard a trading ship and landed in New England. Obookiah stayed with a
Christian family and went to a foreign mission school. Obookiah was taught to be a good Christian
gentlemen. He told Americans about the religious chaos in Hawaii saying: quot;Hawaii gods; the

New Englanders were amazed by Obookiah amp;#8217;s enlightenment in America. New England
Christians were motivated to spread the faith into Hawaii. The first American settlers were Christian
missionaries from New England. The Missionaries came to the Hawaiian shores aboard the Thaddeus
on March 31, 1819. The Americans were treated very well by the natives. They were eager to learn
from the missionaries. Without the strict supervision of their former gods and superstitions, Hawaiians

Why I Want To Travel Essay
Where do you most want to travel? Why? What is your favorite movie/T.V show? Why? If you could

they want to. It also gives you some ideas of places to travel. I picked the movie one because I love

Personal Narrative Essay On Staff Only
Saturday Mornings My body went numb. I could hear voices asking me if I was okay, but all I could

night. I threw on my bright, red collared shirt with the word VOLUNTEER written across the right
side of my chest, and I clipped on my badge that made me feel unusually professional because that
little piece of paper had the ability to get me through all of the doors that read Staff Only . A half hour
later, I was on my way to St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. Little did I know that I was about to experience
a moment that I would remember for a lifetime. As I walked into the emergency room entrance,

THE STRENGTH OF AN INDUSTRY S COMPETITIVE FORCES
Industry and competitive analysis should focus on the competitive dynamics of the industry. The five

the industry s competitive forces.
The Five Basic Competitive Forces
1. The threat of new entrants. Several factors determine whether the threat of new companies entering
the marketplace presents a significant competitive pressure. As a rule, the bigger pool of entry
candidates, the stronger the threat of potential entry. Dess, et.al. enumerated the six major sources of
entry barriers.
a. Economies of scale. Economies of scale refers to spreading the costs of production over the number
of units produced. The cost of a product per unit declines as the absolute volume per period increases.

Physicians routinely order a panel of lab tests for their patients however, that does not mean that all
the tests meet the requirement for medical necessity. This can be an expensive problem for patients
that are on Medicare and Medicaid. Physicians must provide patients with the ABN if they suspect
that these tests will not be covered. Labs can offer discounts to physicians through panel pricing
however by ordering a panel it might be that the patient will have to pick up the tab. For example, the
General Health Panel is not covered by Medicare and some other insurance carriers. One lab in
Washington State clearly stated on their site that it would be more appropriate for physicians to order
the tests individually and document the medical necessity of the test with the appropriate ICD 10
diagnostic code. Custom profiles are panels that are often ordered by certain providers to treat and

Ethical Relation in Don DeLillo s White Noise : A Levinasian Approach
Abstract:
In his writings, Emmanuel Levinas has described Face to Face relation as a relation not reducible to
compression and believes it is this encounter of the face that puts responsibility to the other on our
shoulders and stops us from perusing selfish desires. In this essay through a Levinasian study of Don
DeLillo s White Noise I want to show, how the people of the society, in this work, are inattentive to
the Face to Face relation which, alongside their self centered attitudes, leads the protagonist to
destructive actions, who finds comfort only after his realization of such relation with the Other.

How Did Imperialism Cause Ww1
Militarism Militarism is when a country invests money in their military to increase its size and
strength. Germany began doing this before WWI which caused raised tensions throughout Europe as
well as some other countries militarizing too and when a country builds a new, big military they want
to use it. Nationalism Nationalism is the act of one loving their country and believing that it is superior
to all others. In turn this caused WWI because it was nationalism that caused the Black Hand to
assassinate Archduke Ferdinand, also it caused citizens to think that they would surely win due to their
superiority. Imperialism Imperialism is when a country goes out and gets colonies for resources and
world power. France and England were in a fight with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The treaty was signed in the Palace of Versailles, outside of Paris, France, it redistributed borders,
punished the losers of the war, and set things up to prevent another war. Shell Shock Shell Shock was
a disorder that soldiers on the front lines acquired from being exposed to so many shockwaves from
the shelling going on around them. This would have caused the soldiers to lose control over their
nervous system, making them twitch and blink uncontrollably. Middle East During the war England
promised all of these countries in the middle east region their own land and country to get them on
their side. However, when the war ended the English realized how hard it would be to follow through
on every promise so they just made a few countries grouping different types of people together. This
will cause problems later in time because the people who were grouped together in these new
countries did not want to be together since they can not identify with each other. This will cause these
countries to receive a lot of pushing back from their people, wanting separate

Callaway Golf Essay
THE MARKET
More than two decades ago, Ely Callaway set out to build a company that would bring more
enjoyment and game improvement to golfers of all skill levels. He accomplished much of that goal in
1991, introducing a technological wonder called the Big Bertha Driver. By creating in Big Bertha a
larger clubhead without adding weight, the late founder of Callaway Golf Company turned the most
feared club into the most loved almost overnight. The driver became the fastest selling club at retail.
Many innovations have followed. From woods, irons, and putters to golf balls and golf accessories,
Callaway Golf has consistently used ingenuity, quality construction, and technology to make the finest
premium products in the industry.

In fact, Callaway Golf products are among the most popular on the world s professional tours and
have been used to set several scoring records and win hundreds of tournaments. This success helped
Callaway Golf become the world s largest manufacturer of golf clubs within five years of the Big
Bertha Driver s launch, prompting major changes within the golf industry. Callaway Golf s success
enabled it to become the first major golf company to go public, as shares of company stock began
trading on the NewYork Stock Exchange in 1992, under the ELY ticker symbol.
HISTORY
Callaway Golf s success story begins with a small three person golf company called Hickory Stick
USA, which was founded in 1982 in Temecula, California. The company initially made wedges and
putters that had unique shafts constructed of hickory with a steel core. These clubs caught the eye of
Ely Callaway, who bought an interest in the company the following year. Mr. Callaway had already
been a successful businessman in the fields of textiles and wine, and golf would become the third and
most successful act in his entrepreneurial career. His business philosophy —that every

To What Extent Is It Justifiable To Kill
Is it Justifiable to kill?
With killing another you have their life in your hands. Such as last year when I came home to my dog
laying on the ground suffering through pain. I didn t know what to do, but we put we put her down
because we didn t want her to suffer anymore then she was. When we put her down, we knew we
made the right decision and knowing that she is an a better place not in pain. Killing another is a
justifiable act in the case of George and lennie, Hunting for sport, and also in Military ethics.
In the case of hunting and killing for sport is justifiable killing. According to this article, As hunters
are willing to travel across the world to help the animal population from getting out of control
(Dymoke). The article says that if hunters don t go hunting the animal population will get out of hand
and hurt them. What this quote says is, Two member of the international Union for conservation of
Nature support trophy hunting as a means of species conservation (Knights). This quote means that
people all over the world support it, even when they support nature wild life. ... Show more content on

ProQuest stated one day was When the U.S. drops the first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima,
Japan and three days later, another atomic bomb is dropped on nagasaki, Japan (ProQuest). With this

According to this article, Thanks to advances in precision guidance, American bombs and missiles
now generally get to where they are intended (Woods). This quote proves that with all new high tech

Sheriff and Rick Tyler Essay
Kenneth Toles Professor Busby Literature 221 November 23, 2014 Rick Tyler: The American To be
truly American is a hard thing to achieve. There are so many different ways to live life. The American
way, of course, is the easy way. At least, that is the common perception of the American way. The
whole world sees America as a lazy country that does not even want to keep its own companies in it.
America outsources, takes what other countries have discovered, and incorporates other countries
ideals in the creation of everyday products. On the inside, down deep, America is beautiful. America
has always been known as one of the greatest countries, since it was established. For decades, it has
been known as the land of the free and home of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was running because it was the easiest way out of the situation. He ran because staying around
meant he had to go to jail, then to court. He was afraid that going to court would lead to him doing life
in prison. He was charged with murder, after all, and he was innocent. Understandably, no one wants
to do time in prison, especially when they are innocent. America, in comparison to Rick Tyler, could
be looked at like a figurative fugitive. The country has been under constant ridicule from other
countries, claiming that America has been nothing but a bully. America has been the fugitive on the
run for years, with many countries claiming America has many bad things to answer for. America, to
them, has been dodging the questions, and many countries believe that America deserves all of the bad
things it gets. Rick Tyler ran, and people seemed to have mixed emotions about the situation. There
were people who were happy to see Rick Tyler running and still free. Then, on the other hand, there
were people who did not care about the situation either way. The people who did not seem to care
about Rick Tyler just wanted to collect the bounty on him. This particular part of Rick Tyler s situation
can be compared to America s current situation with the Islamic State, also known as ISIS. Just like
there were unexpected people willing to betray Rick Tyler, there are people in America that are
capturing and murdering people for ISIS. Rick Tyler was faced

Narrative Essay On Hawaii Culture
We don t need to chant! our site manager Robert said.
This is part of my culture Kama, my team leader retorted.
Robert sneered, We re here to work, not to pray. Only two weeks passed since I joined Kupu to
volunteer for seven weeks. My team started our first day working in the forest. Although I joined this
program to save Hawaii s environment, I found myself lodged between cultures when at 4 a.m. Kama
woke us to chant.
Why don t haoles respect our culture? Kama asked Robert. As the only non Native member of my
group, I felt removed from the others. I am haole, foreign. I lacked exposure to their culture. His tribal
tattoos, hunting knives and Pidgin English intimidated me. Around my team, I felt pretentious. I
wondered how I could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then some instinct, prompted me to reach out, Hey, Kama, can you teach me?
Surprised, he responded, E Ala E , it s a prayer, to make the sun rise in the east. He paused, and in a
deep and soulful voice, he chanted, E ala e, ka la i ka hikina. I joined in, as the rest of the team
followed. Kama added, Sing till the sun rises. Then, as the sun appeared, the profound resonance in
our voices sent shivers down my spine. Kama turned to me, Mahalo me ke aloha la [thank you].
Throughout the week, Robert made us work hard. My relationship with my teammates changed, and
their demeanor no longer intimidated me. I developed an appreciation for the Hawaiian culture. While
Kama and I worked in the forest, he taught me about the native plants, the maile vines that climbed the
trees. I learned to make a lei, through Wili, a process of knotting.
One day, I wound vines together and went to Kama and said, I don t know a lot about native culture,
but I love this group. As I placed the maile lei around his neck, he said, Being native isn t about race,
it s about attitude. You may not be Hawaiian, but you are Hawaiian in your heart. I realized sensitivity
and respect goes a long way. A gesture of friendship overcame barriers. I no longer feared my heritage
or theirs. I said to my friend, Mahalo me ke aloha

The stationary phase will absorb or slow down different components of the tested solution to different
degrees creating layers as the components of the solution are separated. Chromatography was invented
by the Russian botanist, Mikhail Tsvet. Chemists use this process to identify unknown substances by
separating them into the different molecules that make them up.
(c) Suppose I melted a grape (purple) popsicle and ran a chromatogram of the resulting substrate.
[i] (1 pts.) In the simplist case, what would I expect to see? Include as much detail as possible.
Answer: Once the chromatogram has been completed and is ready to be measured and calculated, on
the plate that was used to perform the chromatogram you should see where the red and blue have
completely separated. The red food coloring dye should be lower on the plate than the blue food
coloring dye.

  • 3. Introduction to Information Technology Introduction The environment of information technology is dynamic and fast changing which explains the changes in current educational systems which could be going in the directional of transformational than incremental. Some of researchers believe that it might be the end of an era for university campuses since they have been known currently to be identifying a change within the traditional paradigm of learning. Even though education is adopting the information technology faster as it is being considered to be of positive change than negative change, the changes towards this information technology could be of detrimental to the education. Due to this introduction of information technology in the education sector, there are many detrimental that can be realized with this, for example, Joo (1998) argues that teachers could be removed from classrooms. This is because lecturers are taken to be never anymore a major source of information towards students for materials that they were using at one time can now be gotten freely to any individual and hence devaluated. Attendance in classes tends to reduce because students just meet with tutors in any case there is rise of a problem and if there is a synchronous solution which is needed. Hutchison (1998) as well considers face to face lecturing little more as compared to filter for the process of learning, even though both students are capable of studying and learning the curriculum with textbooks which are recommended. ... • 4. Shiloh Literary Analysis What makes a seemingly normal book a classic? Literary lenses. One of those classic books, Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds, shows the reader justice, difficult choices, and allows the reader to discover how it uses literary lenses to become a classic. By studying the novel through various literary lenses, the reader can see different perspectives which is important because it brings more depth and dimension, making Shiloh a children s classic. Word choice, figures of speech, literary devices, symbols, themes in Shiloh help bring the book to life (shows new perspectives). Using this lense in text greatly enhances the reader s understanding of the novel. As stated in Shiloh, [...]but if he wanders off again, I ll whup the daylights out of him . (Reynolds, 27). This quote vaguely suggests that this takes place in the 1900 s, reminding the reader that reading in between the lines is key to thoroughly understanding the book. This novel also states, My dream sort of leaks out like water in a paper bag. (Reynolds, 21). This quote underpins the idea of how close reading greatly affects how the readers perceive an ... This quote demonstrates how the main character, Marty, and his friend, David, have contrasting ways of living. Marty lives a more simple and humble life, while his friend lives more opulently. Like word choice, binaries too help the reader understand the novel in a more in depth way. The book also states, For the first time I can tell Dad s getting impatient with me. Now you get of your head right now. If it s Travers s dog, it s no mind of ours how he treats it. (Reynolds, 24). This quote demonstrates how binaries can be seen, spoken, and even thought. • 5. Zumwalt Class Survivors Research Paper In the world of military matters, the United States is on the forefront of military technology, tactics, and personnel, especially with the recently commissioned Zumwalt Class Destroyers. Recently within the U.S. Navy specifically, there have been many upgrades and changes, mainly due to the need for upgrades within the many different areas of the fleet. With the newly designed Zumwalt class currently being built by General Dynamics by Bath Iron Works, the Navy has done just that. The Zumwalt Class Destroyers received their naming after the former US Navy Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Jr, who served in the position from 1970 1974. Two of the ships are currently being built and one, the USS Zumwalt DDG 1000, already beginning its sea trials. The original plan was to build thirty two of these priced vessels back when the planning originally stated, each with a price of $3.3 billion. Subsequently thought, over time price for each ship increase to more than $9 billion, so the program was cut down to only three in 2009. These three ships will be the largest ships ever built. Each ship comes out to be 610 ft. in length and over 15,000 tons when displaced, sixty five percent larger than the exsisting 9,500 ton Aegis cruisers. • 6. Bringing The Past With You Short Story Patrick O Rawe Ms. Dial English 112 L03 29 November 2017 The Consequences of Bringing the Past with You Immediately into Tim O Brien s short story The Things They Carried the reader is introduced to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross and the letters he carried from his past back home. Throughout the story, readers are also introduced to other items and supplies which were largely determined by necessity (O Brien 1) as well as items deemed a luxury that each individual soldier carried with him for one reason or another. Pictures, memorabilia, and personal items all acted as a gateway into a portal which would bring them back home to the ones they loved if only for five minutes at a time. Although the pictures, memorabilia and personal items of Cross and his soldiers alike, helped them recall back to an era much more peaceful, the consequences of bringing the past with you can carry exceedingly negative side effects. Within the short story, the audience learns that Jimmy Cross carries letters and pictures from his crush from back home, Martha. Multiple times within the story Jimmy Cross consults these pictures and letters to distract himself from the war providing a bit of comfort in his harsh environment. With progression through the story, readers find Jimmy Cross continuously reviewing the pictures and letters from his dear Martha, letting his mind drift off thinking about her, distracting him from his duties at hand. These distractions happen more and more often, eventually leading to the most harrowing consequence. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross s divergence from his important tasks at hand, result in Ted Lavender being killed while under the supervision of Cross himself. This being the key turning point for Cross, as he starts to realize his lapse in judgment and focus, had directly cost the life of one of his soldiers. This resulting in him discovering that the pictures and letters from Martha, he was using as hope for his future back home, and comfort from the issues at hand, were the stemming source of all his problems and distractions, which ultimately cost the life of his soldier. Because of this realization, Cross burns the pictures and letters from Martha, which he was holding onto in hopes that she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Most Significant Moment In My Life We all have that moment in life that changes us in some ways. I think back at events in my life, as an example the births of my children that caused me to grow into a mother and the woman I am today. However, there is a moment in my life, after my children, I was psychologically lost. This moment changed my life forever! I was married for thirteen years with five children. During these thirteen years, I would be the head of the house hold and ensured structure in the house. My husband at the time, was an addict and in/out of prison. We attempt counseling and all types of treatment. The last six years together, we were very involved in church. My faith in God grew and I believed my husband could be delivered from this addition. I had to be the strong one in the family, the rock, the foundation of our house to give the perception to people we were okay. After trying everything possible, I realized, only he can be in recovery of addiction, I cannot make him. I had to make the decision to break up my family for the safety of my children. After my separation, I became angry. My faith was questionable, and I was angry at God. My family was torn, we lived with a friend in a small room. My step children had to live with their mom because I could not afford to keep them. I no longer felt strong, or had structure in my house. The feeling of failure and the mourning of the loss of my family was overwhelming. I began to drink alcohol every day. My daily routine would consist of going to work and as soon as I got out I would stop and get a Smirnoff Black, go home, cook for the three kids, leave work out, drink and go out, go home at two am. The next six months, I did not care about anything or anyone. I allowed these feelings to consume me. In September 2013, the first week, I was driving drunk, I swerved and ran my mirror in to the wall. The second week, I was drunk and could not leave the parking lot of a club, until the following morning. The third week, I was driving drunk to a friend s house, and I remember fighting with him at the door way, and he asked me to leave. The next thing I remember I woke up in a stranger s car, holding a blanket to my chin full of blood. The young gentleman driving said, Miss, you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You are probably asking yourself at this point how a country s waste can have any importance at all in its consumer culture. Waste is one output every company, no matter its size, must be concerned with. With the ever present climate problems our society faces, proper disposal of waste is a necessity. Luckily for companies in the US, they have found a way to capitalize through strategic marketing and planned obsolescence. Consumers have the opportunity to make conscious decisions to help our environment, but the reality behind products is well hidden and needs to be brought to higher attention. Waste epitomizes the American consumer culture to continuously buy new products, and not think about the harm it is causing the environment. Recycling has evolved over time into a ploy to make consumers spend more money, and is causing more harm to the environment by increasing the amount of packaging used over product. • 15. The Musical Genre Of Reggae The musical genre, reggae, was originally coined in the 1960s. Derived from rege rege Jamaican for rags or ragged clothing the genre was used to describe the raggedy music style found in Jamaica at the time. Reggae incorporates the traditional Jamaican music such as mento and ska, rhythm blues, and rocksteady. Ska characteristics such as the walking bass line of the guitar and piano off beats are used in reggae. However, ska is much faster than reggae, so the use of rocksteady in the genre slows the ska tempo. Reggae songs are heavily backbeated, meaning the music has highly emphasized second and fourth beats; this style is typically found in African based musical genres. In reggae s foundation, artists typically wrote of love, but the seventies foresaw the use of socio political and religious lyrics. To English listeners, reggae lyrics are nearly incomprehensible. For example, Jah means God, and Ganga is the Jamaican slang term for marijuana, a medical herb Rastafarians smoked to feel closer to God. Since those not of this faith do not understand the importance of marijuana, reggae lyrics often get misinterpreted as getting high. Never the less, reggae music first rose to international acclaim in the 1970s following the release of the movie, The Harder They Came, a story of a young man traveling through urban Jamaica. The movie s soundtrack was comprised entirely of reggae music, skyrocketing the genre into the mainstream. Despite the movie s success in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Suzy and Sam both suffer with dysfunctional and loveless relationships, Sam being an orphan, and Suzy struggling with feeling accepted in her family, and surrounded by parents that do not love each other. In order to escape their hardships, they turn to running away together. They form their idea of paradise in doing this, being able to disregard their family situations, and create a bond that they would have otherwise never had with anybody else before. I found the idea of the cove they run away together to, and the techniques Anderson combines with it, a very interesting concept. The cove is supposed to be a symbol of perfection and familiarity for the young lovers, but Anderson uses the impending storm to show that love, even in its purest form, is never flawless. I found this very intriguing, and thought provoking since a lot of people do describe love as perfect, and that being in love is the best time of your life. I noticed, in order to emphasise his point, Anderson used dark clouds and grey skies while they were on their paradise island, whereas typical romance movies would have bright blue, sunshine filled ... Corporate Social Responsibility Of The Enron Corporation Introduction We will look at the Enron Corporation and discuss its application of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or in actuality its irresponsible behavior as related to social responsibility. We will revisit what CSR is and discuss Enron s philosophy regarding its use and function within the corporation. We will discuss the consequences of Enron s irresponsible behavior and the far reaching effects it had on society. Corporate Social Responsibility are actions taken by a corporation that have positive and lasting impact for all stakeholders associated with the organization, seeking to strike a balance between profits and helping to establish lasting investment in the community (Carrol, 2015). In the 1980 s, then President Reagan challenged the business community to take on more responsibility to address social problems (Carrol, 2015). Socially responsible actions can benefit local communities as well as the greater societal good. Oddly enough, Enron had a CSR strategy with a very good reputation for having a strong and well respected corporate responsibility known for generosity to the community and being environmentally responsible. (Sims Brinkmann, 2003). In hindsight we see that they were playing CSR. There are so many different ways to live life. The American way, of course, is the easy way. At least, that is the common perception of the American way. The whole world sees America as a lazy country that does not even want to keep its own companies in it. America outsources, takes what other countries have discovered, and incorporates other countries ideals in the creation of everyday products. On the inside, down deep, America is beautiful. Understandably, no one wants to do time in prison, especially when they are innocent. America, in comparison to Rick Tyler, could be looked at like a figurative fugitive. The country has been under constant ridicule from other countries, claiming that America has been nothing but a bully. America has been the fugitive on the run for years, with many countries claiming America has many bad things to answer for. America, to them, has been dodging the questions, and many countries believe that America deserves all of the bad things it gets. Rick Tyler ran, and people seemed to have mixed emotions about the situation. There were people who were happy to see Rick Tyler running and still free.
