The Importance Of Plagiarism In Writing
Choices Plagiarism is when you take any form of writing and make it your own without giving proper
credit to the owner. You can also be plagiarizing if you use some of your old work without the teacher
knowing you did so. In universities across America about ¾ of people are involved in some kind of
academic dishonesty (Heckler, Rice, and Bryan 229). Many students have different reasons as to why
they had to cheat on an assignment and they range from not having enough time, not getting the
sufficient information from the teacher or for the assignment, and sometimes some students also say
that the teacher almost gives them no choice (Puka). RO In The Words [Be sure this text is properly
titled in your writing] the main character is struck with an important realization; that his writing will
never be as good as the owner of the manuscript he found. In a simple confusion between him and his
wife he makes a split moments decision and decides that he will take ownership of the manuscript. His
wife pushes him to show it to someone and he ends up giving it to a publisher. Months pass by since
he has given it and he almost forgets about it until the publisher comes back and tells him he loves the
book and he wants to publish it. Years pass by and the man is now very well known author and has
made a name and money off of someone else s manuscript and no one but he knows what he has done.
One day this old man confronts him about what he has done and the man starts feeling guilty

Catcher In The Rye And The Kite Runner First Person Narrative
First person narrative expresses a point of view giving the greatest sense of identity of the character.
People are all different. Different colours, religions, different morals and beliefs, and maybe most
important different perspectives on the world. In both The Catcher in the Rye in The Kite Runner the
male protagonist tells the course of events from their perspective, and their role as narrator has a
significant impact on the novels In both The Catcher in the Rye, and The Kite Runner, first person
narration played a critical role in helping the reader know and understand the main characters, Holden
Caulfield Amir. From this perspective the reader gets to encounter the innermost thoughts on Holden
Amir s perspective on life and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amir grew up with a sense of entitlement, and a loyal servant/friend in Hassan. After Hassan s rape,
Amir is stricken with grief and tries to console himself by saying that he is better than Hassan because
Hassan is a Hazara and has a cleft lip. It s here where the disgusting mindset of Amir, a perspective
that only the reader has the opportunity to understand. Hassan knew. He knew I d seen everything in
that alley, that I d stood there and done nothing. He knew I had betrayed him and yet he was rescuing
me once again, maybe for the last time. (Kite 9.29) This quote perfectly encapsulates Amir s feelings
of extreme grief for what he did to Hassan. This is a recurring theme within the book, the reader sees
the anxiety that Amir feels for betraying Hassan in the alley that day, and from that day he does his
best to repent for his unatoned sins.
Another importance of first person narrative within The Catcher in the Rye and The Kite Runner is it
allows the reader to empathize with the characters of the novels. In both novels the narrator/main
character is not the most likeable. Holden Caulfield is a very cynical and jaded narrator, and finds the
hypocrisy and ugliness of the world around him almost unbearable, through his cynicism he tries to
protect himself from the pain and disappointment of the adult world. Amir is a complex character like
all protagonist narrator s are. He isn t all bad, but he has a crippled conscious, and makes very

Causes Of The Hindenburg Disaster
1. The Hindenburg was destroyed in 32 seconds by one main cause. The extreme amount of hydrogen
on board. Though there were other factors, this was really the central problem. To be more specific, a
static spark ignited hydrogen that was leaking in the Zeppelin, therefore causing the disaster we know
today. If you can accept that the Zeppelin was not sabotaged, then the reason for the hydrogen leak is
one of the biggest causes for speculation. According to Hugo Eckener, the president of the Zeppelin
company who was involved in the investigation, the Zeppelin should have never tried to land it should
have kept flying. The ships sharp turns when it was trying to land could have definitely caused
something to become loose or fall out of place, which then could have caused a hydrogen leak. The
materials used were basically the best for what they had for the time, so the materials were not the
problem. Zeppelins were known to not be the safest way to air travel, because there were multiple
other accidents before the Hindenburg, without enough innovation to help prevent future disaster. The
problem was these zeppelins were so mesmerizing and beautiful that ... Show more content on

It is upsetting because zeppelins are amazing creations, but I agree the risk is just too much. One of
the most interesting things I learned is that the entire disaster happened in 32 seconds. I had no idea it
was that fast. It was also interesting to learn that hydrogen was basically the entirety of the problem. It
s upsetting that everything could have turned out differently if the Hindenburg did not have the
hydrogen leak. The Hindenburg disaster really shows that engineers learn from their mistakes, because
if they did not, they would have continued building zeppelins. Once they realize how dangerous it was
nothing else mattered, they needed to be safe rather than

The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood Essay

October 19, 2016
In the society that we reside in today our voice is a source of power and our words allow us to have a
say in our lives especially for the female population. Many years ago a woman s voice was to be kept
at a whisper if even heard at all. We had no opinion on who we wanted to be or on how the world saw
us. We were simply women who took care of the children, cooked, cleaned, and catered to the men of
our home. But we broke out of that silence and women created a name for themselves, Independent.
We could do anything a man could do and maybe even better and we have now lived in that freedom
for many years. But author of the novel, The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood pulled her readers
attention showing them a world in which the woman s voice was again taken away. Atwood revealed
how powerful the voice is. In this novel women no longer have a say in what happens to them or their
bodies. They were forced to bare the children of the men they are assigned to and were stripped away
from their past lives. The only key to a small piece of freedom was through their language, through
their use of words to paint a different picture than the one in front of them. That is what main
character Offred did to survive the world she was living in. She paints pictures with her words and
even though she did not have power over her circumstance her words gave her an escape from
everything. It gave an escape for all the

Emotional Intelligence ( Eq )
Professional success is an innate goal of all individuals in their employment. Much success in the
workplace can be contributed to one s emotional intelligence (EQ) or their understanding of emotions
in themselves and co workers which can use to form positive collegial relationships (Cherniss Exetin,
2006). The book Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Bradberry and Greaves (2009), effectively explains
what Emotional Intelligence and provides useful strategies to improve one s EQ. However, while the
book has a foundation in scientific study, it is not much more than a glorified self help book as it does
not contain much of any scientific support. This, however, is the authors intention as they state that the
single purpose of the book is to increase the reader s emotional intelligence. This critique will examine
the scientific basis of the claims Bradberry and Greaves as a result of their research in emotional
intelligence in addition to the validity of their EQ appraisal. This critique will also examine the most
effectual aspects of the book which when successfully adapted, can produce benefits for individuals as
well as their organizations. In addition, the critique will also point out areas in which HR professionals
can benefit from the book. The layout of Emotional Intelligence 2.0 is very straight forward and easily
adaptable for use whether personal or business related. In the first couple of chapters it does a good
job explaining what emotional intelligence is and

My Love Essay
I was loved even before I was born, that is what my parents always told me. To be loved and fully
accepted without reservation is their greatest gift to me. Raised by Christian parents who modeled
Christ s love, my early life was uneventful and peaceful. I followed the rules and never got in any
serious trouble. So for the first ten years of my life, my faith was not tested and had no chance of
maturing. My life of ease did not incite me to seek God or his purpose for me. God was in the
background for me then.
Then came some hard times. My easy life was shaken when my mom was diagnosed with breast
cancer. This was her second cancer diagnosis and more serious than the first. Real life stress and
worry came crashing in on me. Was I being punished for some wrong doing? Would my mom survive?
What would happen to me? I was just a kid, but I knew how serious this was. At first, I did not know
where to find help and comfort. Then I remembered seeing my parents turn to prayer and the Bible
especially when they had worries. I came across Ephesian 1:4, Even before he made the world, God
loved us/me and chose us/me in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. This verse reminded
me of what my parents told me when I was very young. God chose me to have a relationship with Him
through his Son, Christ. He holds me without fault because of the sacrifice his Son made for me. My
mom s illness was not a punishment because I have already been forgiven for my sins. I found peace

Isabel Briggs Personality
Personality tests serve as effective facilitators to learning about the features of an employee and
potential benefits and drawbacks that he or she may encounter at a given position. Legitimacy of the
social media which character are you? personality assessments is questionable, because they do not
provide credentials for their authors, statistical tools implemented, and no connection can be traced
between the types of questions and the results of the test. However, such tests as the one based on the
Carl Jung s and Isabel Briggs Myers typology suggest a profound background for considering them
valid. As such, after completing this type of personality test, I received the same results as in the
official Myers Briggs Personality assessment, which it was not. So, my personality type is ISTJ, which

Therefore, I expected the results would be at least not greatly deviating from the ISTJ that I have
learned about myself. Being rather determined about rights and wrongs, I was often told that I give the
first impression of being aloof and perhaps somewhat cold (ISTJ, 2016). I agree with many of the
characteristics given in personality tests, but some portion of the information in such assessments with
explanation can be left to a chance. In this respect, I would not advise using personality tests for hiring
purposes, because a person considered creative and easygoing, such as extraverted types, might appear
too emotional and lacking the sense of hierarchy. Primarily, the test can be used to facilitate further
development of the team member in a new place and evaluate the potential for assignment or
promotion, using both self report personality inventories and projective tests to ensure conscious and
unconscious aspects of personality are

Effects Of Falling Gas Prices On Operation Management...
The Effects of Falling Gas Prices on Operation Management Decision Making
Dylan Knight
Robert Morris University
Abstract This paper briefly takes a look at how the price of gas has changed over the past ten years
and what has caused the drop in fuel prices within the past few years. It then looks at the fuel price s
effect on business operation through the eyes of the Operations Manager and the key aspects in
decision making that they have to consider when the gas prices fall, like they have recently. I then give
you an idea of how the falling prices effect the Apartment Management industry and the operations
involved in renting and renovating apartments.

The one downfall of the increased production here in the United States is the drilling has slowed down
drastically leaving many oil workers without a job and forcing some companies out of business.
(Krauss) Another cause of the gas prices dropping, according to an article on CNN, is the economic
slowdown of the Chinese economy. They also mentioned the increased production in the United States
and finally the tentative nuclear deal which would make their oil more readily available to our country.
In the article they also predicted that by the time football season came around that tens of thousands of
gas stations across the country will be below the $2 a gallon mark. (Isidore) Even though we have
seen it come close here in Pennsylvania, it has not gone below $2 here in the greater Pittsburgh area. A
few times that I have been home in Ohio I have seen it drop below $2 but it ultimately just depends on
which area you are in. With winter quickly approaching gas prices are expected to continue to drop as
stations mix a less expensive blend of gas for the winter months. (Isidore) So it is a possibility that we
could see prices here in the Pittsburgh area fall to the $2 a gallon area. If I were placed as the
Operations Manager in any industry gas prices play a huge factor in business and

British Colonialism And The Impact Of British Imperialism...
British imperialism affected Trinidad in a negative way. When the British took over Trinidad, slavery
began. When slavery was brought to Trinidad, it caused the people of Trinidad to become depressed
along with the rest of the world. When the British decided to join the colonies Trinidad and Tobago,
Trinidad s sugar economy started to collapse. With the collapse of the economy and commodity prices
rising, workers started to riot in Trinidad. Together these made the people and the colony of Trinidad
difficult to work and live.
While researching these topics, I used history articles and nonfiction books. I used these because they
gave me the most useful information for my topics. They helped me have a better understanding of
how the British and how imperialism affected Trinidad and it s people. Having the right and the best
information will make for a better paper.
Imperialism is a type of government that seeks to increase its size, either by forcing (through war) or
influencing (through politics) other countries to submit to their rule. While researching about
imperialism, I found that many articles explained how imperialism affected this colony in a way that I
understand it.
Slavery in Trinidad is the first reason to why imperialism in Trinidad was negative. For example,
Between 1518 and 1870, the transatlantic slave trade supplied the greatest proportion of the Caribbean
population (Countrystudies.us). This explains that Trinidad s slave trade was so bad, that the
development of their colony was ten times harder. The slavery that the British began in Trinidad,
became a major cause for how bad Trinidad s development would be. Another example of how slavery
affected Trinidad, Even after the end of slavery and apprenticeship the Caribbean was not totally free.
Former enslaved people received no compensation and had limited representation in the legislature s
(Nationalarchives.gov.uk). Even though the slaves did not have to work anymore, their lives in
Trinidad still were not the best that they could have been. The slave trade was a big part of why the
people of Trinidad suffered from depression that was happening all over the world.
Depression in Trinidad was the second factor that contributed to how negative

Changes Of Climate Change Across Earth
Hominins During the Pleistocene
What is the Pleistocene? According to Understanding Humans: Introduction to Physical Anthropology
and Archaeology, the Pleistocene, or the Ice Age, was a period 1.8 mya 10,000 ya marked by drastic
fluctuations of climate change across Earth. The Pleistocene alternated between extreme periods of
glaciations and interglacials. During glaciations, temperatures dropped drastically. In northern
continents this drop in temperature led to mass accumulations of ice, measuring nearly a mile thick;
however, these glaciers were not seen everywhere. In Africa, glaciations led to more arid and dry
climates. Interglacials, on the other hand, were periods of warmer climate. During interglacials,
climate would become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During both the Early Pleistocene and the Middle Pleistocene, we see a number of hominins that
paved the way to modern human development (Boaz Ciochon, 2004). One of these hominins is Homo
erectus (Lewis et al., 2013). According to Lewis (2013) while it is probable that they first developed
developed in Africa, it also . . . seems likely that H. erectus first arose in East Africa and then very
quickly migrated to other continents ; however, it is hard to prove this hypothesis as new fossils are
found (p. 236). While H. erectus characteristics vary across continents, the majority share the same
range in body size, brains, and cranial shape. H. erectus adults had robust bodies weighing more than
100 lbs. and measuring 5 6 tall. The range in H. erectus brain size is 700 to 1250 cm(^3). The most
distinct characteristic of H. erectus is its cranial shape. The cranium displays a thick cranial bone,
large brow ridges, a pointy nuchal torus at the posterior, low forehead development, a wide cranium
base, and finally a sagittal keel (Lewis et al., 2013). According to The First Humans, environments
during the Early Pleistocene fluctuated, but they tended to be more open and wet than the Pliocene
environments before them. Thus, it was warmer. These open grassland environments yielded bulky,
herding mammals. The First Humans also suggests the anatomy and physiology of H. erectus allowed
for the endurance they needed in order to obtain these mammals for

Pediatric Lab Assignment
Pediatric Lab Assignment For this assignment, my groupmates and I decided to use the Peabody
Developmental Motor Scale. We chose this assessment because our patient was a chronological age of
thirteen months (premature 1 week, 9 days) and were aiming to look at her gross motor function in the
following areas: reflexes, stationary, locomotion, object manipulation. Our results provided us with
raw scores of: 12 for reflexes, 36 for stationary, 53 for locomotion and 1 for object manipulation. Due
to our patient, Olivia, being premature we decided to compare her percentile ranks to her
chronological age and her corrected age. Upon doing so, we found that our patient was in higher
percentile ranks for her corrected age than her chronological age.

warm colors within the face and hair. The color in this photo is very intense due to the way it was

How Is Online Learning Different From A Traditional Classroom
Online learning is much different from the traditional classroom settings. Aside from the obvious
location differences, there are pros and cons to online learning that are very different from a
classroom. A student must be willing to embrace these differences to successfully move forward and
excel in the online environment.
One of the things in online learning that is important is establishing your classroom. With a traditional
class, the classroom and times are designated to the student. In an online environment, it is up to the
student to determine the when and where. It is important to remember that all of your classes take
place on the computer and even your book can be found there. It is the student s responsibility to make
this work for themselves. Part of being able to excel in learning is setting up a time and a place where
you will be able to make learning work for you. This also relates to good time management. Let those
around you know when you will be in class so that they do not disturb you during this time. With a
designated time and place set aside, a student can begin to schedule their days around when they have
time to get their classwork completed.
Another huge element to online learning is communication. The instructor is located at a remote
location and the student does not have face time with them. The student will need to learn to reach out
through messages or phone calls. This is essential when learning online. The student may also

Summary Of The White Man s Burden
According to William Easterly, the accomplishments of planned development are not impressive. In an
overly simplified process, governments invest capital to provide aid to developing countries (in this
case food aid), it then does not yield a specific result or target, and the aid goes somewhere unintended
(Easterly, 2006). In The White Man s Burden, Easterly discusses the notion that aid aims to please the
donor instead of their electorate, by focusing on the wrong projects, and project impacts are often not
measured scientifically (Easterly, 2006). In other words, development aid does more harm by fostering
a dependency in recipient governments (Diriye, et al., 2014). For developments sake, positive effects
are tarnished by the politicization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Gambia, the government received foreign aid to develop rice projects for the purpose to
increase food security from 1966 to 1984 (Carney, 2008). It is important to note that this period from
1966 to 1984 is a period that evolved from the Second World War. As a result, the justification for aid
and development was to uplift nations from poverty. Furthermore, development was justified as a
moral obligation and as something that advances national interest (Eyoh, 2015). However,
development for the strict purpose of morality or poverty has unintended consequences. According to
Carney, the Gambian government utilized 25,000 hectares of land to facilitate food aid for rice
production. Today, only 10 percent of the initial irrigated land for food aid and food security purposes
remains in production by farmers (Carney, 2008). As these operations emerged, different labour
arrangements (human, mechanical and political) needed to develop in unison. Before the processes
were complete, changes in policy favoured the importation of rice instead of local production (Carney,

competing against each other. The first company is Hooli incorporated which has a male CEO,
looking closely in the boardroom the only gender represented is male, however the only females
present in the office are the female secretaries. The same uniformity is present in the competing firm,
male CEO, male president, male board members, and female secretary. Throughout the entire first
season not one woman holds a position in leadership, and when we are introduced to a female
character she usually holds a position working as an assistant to one of the male characters. Silicon
Valley deals with the issue of not injecting women into higher power position, unfortunately many of
these stereotypes are found in many industries around the world. The portrayal of women as being
incapable of being good leaders leads to a male dominated managerial system. A study conducted by
the Wall Street Journal finds that Only ten percent of directors at Silicon Valley are women. (Wells 2)
this glass ceiling keeps women from reaching position that they are fully qualified for, just because
they are perceived to be ineffective

Current State Of The Us Economy Paper
Current State of the U.S. Economy
A nation s economy plays a vital role in how a nation operates. The United States economy faces a
large variety of problems in this paper; we will focus on 4 major economic problems, unemployment,
inequality, federal debt, and the financial/credit market. All four issues are interconnected in some way
with deep social and economic implications. These issues were emphasized during the Great
Recession that hit the U.S. economy in 2007.In the following paper, we will look at each of the four
topics individually as well as look at how each plays a significant role in one another s overall impact
on the U.S. economy as well as individuals in the United States. The United States plays a crucial role
in the world economy, meaning that every issue and difficulty faced the United States economy has
implications far outside the U.S., understanding how these issues relate to one another sheds insight
into just how connected every area of the economy actually is.
Beginning with unemployment in the 2007 2009 recession, U.S. unemployment rates peaked at 10%
as well as held 41 consecutive months at rates higher than eight percent (Lazear 1). The U.S. economy
plummeted during this time; many attributed the shift to a large decrease in the number of employed
workers. To be able to better understand the unemployment issue, we must first examine the form of
unemployment faced by the U.S. economy. Many believe that the changes faced by the U.S. labor

Napoleon s Conflict with Russia Essay
Napoleon s Conflict with Russia Napoleon was one of the greatest military leaders of all time.
By 1812 Napoleon had expanded the territory of France all over Europe including Spain, Italy,
Holland, and Switzerland. The countries that
Napoleon did not directly control, he was usually allied with. The turning point of Napoleon s career
also came in 1812 when war broke out between France and Russia because of Alexander I s refusal to
enforce the continental.
Even the French nation could not provide all the manpower and supplies needed to carry out the
Emperor s grandiose plan for subduing
Russia. Throughout 1811, he worked to mobilize the entire continent against Russia. He not only

Dying horses littered the roads and the advanced guard found little forage as Russians everywhere
abandoned their homes. Napoleon knew that he needed to fight. At Smolensk, he set up for a battle
and waited but the
Russians, afraid of a trap steadily withdrew their troops from
Smolensk and continued to retreat deeper into Russia.
The only major battle in the Russian campaign proved that something was definitely lacking in
Napoleon s judgment. Borodino was a battle of legendary proportions. Before the battle Napoleon
proclaimed, Soldiers, here is the battle you have so long desired!
However, the fight was inconclusive. At its end, Napoleon found himself the possessor, not of a
victory, but of a barren hillside and an increasingly compelling commitment to advance further into
the east. Well into the battle, the French had almost cracked the left side of the Russian Army. Several
French generals had requested that
Napoleon would commit the guard infantry into battle. This would create the final blow and insure the
Russian defeat. After 14 hours of intense combat, the fighting died out at nightfall, and Mikhail
Illarionovich Kutusov, the Russian general, gratefully began to retreat his troops. The guard infantry
had remained unused. After the
Battle of Borodino, in which losses on both sides totaled ! over 70,000 men, Napoleon had 100,000
effectives remaining, while
Kutusov probably had no more than 55,000.

Era Of Good Feelings
The years following the War of 1812 and the Treaty of Ghent (1815 1825) have often been
distinguished as the Era of Good Feelings. It refers to the American s victory in the War of 1812 and is
generally marked as a period in political history that reflected a sense of national purpose and a desire
for unity among Americans in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars. The period s nickname suggests
that Monroe s years in presidency were marked by a spirit of nationalism, optimism, and goodwill.
Although, the era of good feelings emerged with cultural and economic Nationalism along with the
fading of the Federalist Party, peaceful foreign policies, and the implantation of the Monroe Doctrine,

Thomas Jefferson referred to the Missouri Compromise as the geographical line that would cause
more irritation in America every time an issue environmentally came about (6). Although the Missouri
compromise crated a new slave state in Missouri and a free one in Maine, this did not totally resolve
the conflicts about allowing slavery in certain parts of the nation. Jefferson feared that the nation s
perseverance would be affected due to this dividing line. Another contribution to the growth of
political sectionalism was that from 1820 to 1824, the nation disbanded into multiple political groups
(7). By the time the election of 1820 came to a close, James Monroe won most of the electoral votes,
which showed that the people politically agreed on one person to run their nation. But overtime areas
began to split into different groups; supporting different people with different ideas. Therefore, the
increase in sectionalism began to grow. With people having different views politically, the period after
the War of 1812 cannot be considered the Era of Good

Athens vs. Sparta
The Greek city states of Athens and Sparta were similar in that they both denied women basic rights,
but they are more different because of their culture and political structures. In both city states, their
social structures featured women as minorities. However, their customs and concepts differ
tremendously. Generally, Sparta had a very strict military based state, while Athens focused on the fine
arts. Politically, the two city states differed in that Athens had a democracy and Sparta had an
oligarchy. Although the city states had some similarities, they had vast differences.

Although Athens had a stronger navy, the Athenians spent more time making their city beautiful. In
Athens, they used League money to rebuild their city. They spent a lot of time and money to ensure
that they pleased the gods by creating statues, buildings and art. Athens focused on making music and
poetry while Sparta did not. This is important because both city states influenced other states in
Greece by providing examples of art and military techniques. Overall, Spartans focused in maintaining
a powerful military force while Athenians focused on more artistic causes.
The two Greek city states of Athens and Sparta were similar in that they both had social societies that
favored men. Both civilizations didn t believe women were equal to men as well. On the other hand,
their cultures were very different. Sparta had a main goal of a strong military while Athens focused on
art and music. Politically, Athens had a democracy and Sparta had an oligarchy. It is important for us
to study the similarities and differences between the two city states because it will enhance our
understanding of how Athens was eventually defeated by Sparta. Clearly, Sparta and Athens had more
differences than they did attributes in common.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Supply chain management is a major concern in many industries as companies realize the importance
of creating an integrated relationship with their suppliers and customers. Managing the supply chain
has become a way of improving competitiveness by reducing uncertainty and improving service. One
aspect of successfully managing the supply chain requires that a company understand their logistical
strategies and practices.
Personal interviews with logistics managers employed by firms from the Twin Cities Round Table
suggest the following issues are important to supply chain management.
C
Firms believe supply chain management is a fundamental change in industry.
C
Six characteristics define current supply chain management philosophy.
1. Shared Information
2. Organizational Relationships
3. Inventory Management
4. Total Pipeline Coordination
5. Firm Flexibility
6. Costing Issues
C
There are three major reasons for establishing supply chains.
1. To reduce inventory investment in the chain
2. To increase customer service
3. To help build a competitive advantage for the channel
C
Information is crucial and drives the entire supply chain system.

Mitochondria and Chloroplasts Descended from Free-living...
Mitochondria (mt) provide critical function in (a) maintenance of cellular energy supplies, i.e.,
thermoregulation and synthesis of essential molecules (such as phospholipids and heme); (b) apoptosis
or programmed cell death; and (c) mediating multiple cellular signaling pathways (Ryan and
Hoogenraad 2007). It is widely accepted that mitochondria and chloroplasts descended from free
living bacterial ancestors (Dyall et al. 2004). Following their acquisition by eukaryotic cells during
endosymbiotic evolution, most of the genes in these organelles were either lost or transferred to the
nucleus. Today, it is demonstrated that from all mitochondrial proteins (over 1500) most of them (93
99%) are encoded in the nucleus, synthesized in the cytoplasm and then imported into the organelles
(Woodson and Chory 2008). For instance, human mtDNA only contains 37 genes and codes for 13
encoding polypeptides, 22 tRNAa, and 2 rRNAs (Ryan and Hoogenraad 2007). The relationship
between organelles and the nucleus is continually evolving to suit an organism s needs. Based on the
above mentioned close relationship, a strict communication between mitochondria, chloroplasts and
the nucleus is indispensible. Hundreds of genetic diseases in humans and thousands of phenotypic
variations in plants and other organisms are known to be the result of alterations affecting nuclear
mitochondrial (NM) communication. These communication mechanisms include both nucleus to
organelle (antrograde) and organelle

what makes casinos so popular in the largest and luxurious areas of the world? It s the income that
casinos have on the economy associated with the location. According to statista.com Casino Industry

The monetary effects of authorized betting are substantial and quantifiable. Casino gambling has
become a very popular, widely available form of entertainment in the United States and many other
countries. The industry has spread rapidly in the last 20 years but, relative to its size worldwide, there
has been little scientific analysis of the social and economic effects of gambling (Walker, Douglas M.,
and John D. Jackson). What we do know is that there are fundamental monetary effects incorporated
in the development of a casino club which prompts numerous occupations for development workers
and suppliers. From representatives to staff the gambling club, and the suppliers for a continuous
clubhouse, the establishment of a casino presents a number of jobs. Following this introduction of new
jobs other multipliers, like the newly employed using their paycheck to gamble or to even buy
anything regenerates that income into the general economy. Be that as it may, in light of the fact that a
betting venture makes a ton of occupations and a vast office is fabricated doesn t mean the monetary
effects are sure. Non financial effects, for example, social expenses are typically elusive, hard to

Lee Harvey Oswald, the man to take responsibility for Kennedy s death, was a former Marine in the

College Students Dropout
As a college student, why would they go through the process of filling out applications and paying all
of that money, just to dropout? The contributing factors that relate to college students dropping out are
putting social and recreational activities before class, students experiencing stress and paying for the
cost of tuition. Clearly, there are many factors that contribute to the high dropout rate among college
students.
The first factor that contributes to the high dropout rate among college students is students putting
social and recreational activities before classes. In college, students can participate in many
recreational/social activities. Some of the options they have to pick from are sororities/fraternities,
intramural sports, clubs and sporting events. All of these options take up time, which is why they need
to balance out school and recreational/social activities. Balancing out their education and activities or
devoting more time towards your education will be beneficial in the long run. It will be beneficial in
the long run since you won t fall behind in classes, since you are making equal time for everything.
Lack of study often leads to grades plummeting drastically. The college student could decide to
dropout due to the low grades all because they invested too much time in the recreational/social aspect
of college. Clearly, students putting social and recreational activities before classes is a cause of a
college student dropping out of college.

Childhood is socially construted, this means it is only a human concept and the only reason that

Neglect and abuse towards children still occurs in society today as it did in pre industrial times. Adult
control over children can take the extreme form of physical neglect, or physical, sexual, or emotional
abuse. Some may say due to figures from charities such as Child Line rising there is a dark side to
family life, where children are victims. This shows in some cases the status of children hasn t changed
over time.
Childhood has changed more in other ways such as parents have more control over children s space as
there is increasingly close surveillance over children in public spaces such as shopping centre s,
especially in times when they should be in school. However in contrast to this Katz (1993) describes
how rural Sudanese children roam freely both within the village and several kilometers outside it. This
shows that changes can still occur but not in some places of the world.
Adults in today s society also can control children s daily routines, for example when they get up, go
to bed, have breakfast, etc. Whereas in historical times this wouldn t have been an issue.
Adults exercise enormous control over children s bodies including how they sit, walk, and run, what
they wear, hairstyles etc. whereas in some non industrial cultures this may not be an issue, and
therefore giving children more freedom.
Some sociologists such as Postman (1994) argue that childhood is disappearing at a dazzling speed as

October, 1967, in Whangarei New Zealand. He has an older brother, Shane and his parents are Bob
and Marienne Urban. His dad gave him a ukulele when he was only four years old and started to learn
to play the guitar at six years old. He received guitar lessons from a teacher in exchange for the
teacher to display advertisements in the windows of his dad s convenience shop. Urban displayed
natural talent abilities and won multiple school talent shows.
The family soon moved to Caboolture, Queensland when he was 16 years old. He started entering
national competitions such as New Faces in 1983. He did work experience at 4kq radio station in
Queensland as well.
In 1990, Urban signed with EMI and released his first album in Australia only. He appeared on the

The Ranch released a self titled album signed with Capitol Records Nashville. The singles, Walkin the
Country and Just Some Love charted on the Hot Country songs that year. The use of pizzicato in
Urban s free rhythm in Walkin the Country was amazing. The harmony in Just Some Love creates a
consonance. Urban played guitar on a few other artists tracks as well. The Ranch was such a unique
band because it brought a raw taste and was more suggestive to Australian pub rock than to Nashville

Critical Review Of Joan Littlewood s Oh What A Lovely War
Oh What A Lovely War is a theatrical chronicle of the first world war. It was first performed by Joan
Littlewood s Theatre Workshop in 1963. The play shows all major moments of the first world war.
Portrayed as a comedy, Joan littlewood implemented the use of Brechtian style performance, dark
humour and satirical language to shock the audience comedically.
Born 1914 in South London Joan Littlewood grew up surrounded by the war. In 1935 she met Jimmy
Miller, aka Ewan MacColl; once married the two set up a new company, Theatre Union. Littlewood
took many influences on board, including the movement system of Rudolf Laban, the modern ideas of
lighting and design written by Adolphe Appia in addition to, 16th century Italian commedia dell arte,
which greatly inspired her later works. She is extensively noted for her work in developing the left
wing Theatre Workshop, she believes in sharing a story and playing it true and has been referred to as
the mother of modern theatre
The play Oh What A Lovely War was first developed in 1963 by Joan Littlewood s Theatre Workshop.
The play was written as a satire of the first world war, I can infer this from the name of the play itself,
as Oh What A Lovely War presents the war to be a spectacle and not the horror it actually was.
Consequently, throughout the play the war is mocked, each actor throughout the play performs dressed
as a pierrot (jester/clown) this is calling the war a pierrot show, as Joan Littlewood in her
autobiography

A Research Study Conducted By Usher Et Al ( 2012 )
The aim of this literature review is to analyse and evaluate the quantitative research study conducted
by Usher et al (2012). This is a randomised controlled trial that was undertaken to test a nurse led
weight management and exercise intervention which was designed for participants with serious mental
illness (SMI) who take second generation antipsychotic medications. This review will explore the
strengths and weakness of its research methodology which includes study design, study sample, data
collection and analysis by investigating their research study to find out if there is a link between
individuals with serious mental health illness gaining weight from taking second generation
antipsychotic medications.
Mental illness is a medical condition that disturbs a person s way of thinking, feeling, their mood, and
the ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Whereas serious mental illness includes major
depression, schizophrenia, bipolar, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder,
posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder. http://www.nami.org
Antipsychotic medications have effectiveness in the treatment of acute psychosis (irrespective of
cause), chronic psychotic disorders, and other psychiatric conditions.
Second generation antipsychotics (SGAs), also known as atypical antipsychotics, normally have lower
risks of extra pyramidal side effects and tardive dyskinesia compared to FGAs. Nevertheless, these
medications

Neanderthals, Ancestors to Human Beings Essay
The most recent ancestor to the modern human, Homo neanderthalensis existed between 300,000 and
35,000 years ago. Originating in Africa, ancestors of the early Neanderthals migrated northwards
almost 800,000 years ago. These migrants colonized much of the Old World with the majority based
in Europe and small groups scattered throughout the Middle East and Asia. Historically, the
Neanderthals were among the most resiliant creatures to exist on Earth. As a population, they thrived
during the European ice age 40,000 years ago. This ice age enveloped the majority of Northern and
Central Europe and due to their physique were the Neanderthals were able to surive. Physcially, the

Their weapons which consisted at most consisted of spears which required confrontational hunting.
The average Neanderthal life spanned thirty years due to the extreme physical strain and harsh living
conditions of life during this period of Earth s history. Traditionally, Neanderthals have been viewed
as large, hulking ape like beings that survived by aggression and power through the harshest
conditions possible on earth. They have been painted as unsophisticated and unable to compete with
humans on an intellectual level. These academics theorized that superior human intellect and
reasoning gave humans the advantage in hunting game and securing the most valuable natural
resource, eventually driving the Homo neanderthalensis to extinction 30,000 years ago. Popular
culture describes Neanderthals as first viewed by science as large, hulking ape like beings. However,
new evidence suggests that one of the first reconstructed Neanderthal skeletons did not consider that
the individual suffered from acute arthritis. Despite unique, this Neanderthal s hunching posture was
associated with the entire species, giving one the impression of a brutish caveman . This new
understanding has reformed research on the Neanderthal and a new understanding of humanity s
earliest ancestor By examining Neanderthal tools and utensils one can gain an understanding of the
complexity of

Similarities And Differences Between My Last Duchess And...
Lover and or Last
(A analysis of the similarities and differences in My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover)
Murders always have rational motives for murder, and murders always have some kind of personal
relation with their victim (Schmid). It is both horrifying and interesting that the majority of victims
have a close, personal correlation with their murderers. In My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a
dramatic monologue in which a Duke addresses the agent of a Count about the possible marriage
between him and the Count s daughter. However, before the Duke can make the decision to marry or
not to marry the Count s daughter he briefs the agent of the Count about his last Duchess. The Duke
wants to make sure that the next woman he will marry will be submissive and won t give him any
trouble, unlike his last Duchess. In Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning is another dramatic
monologue where a very upset man is sitting in his cottage in the outskirts of town, with the fire out,
and waits for his girlfriend Porphyria to return home from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In My Last Duchess and in Porphyria s Lover both speakers have a very unstable and disturbing
mental state. In My Last Duchess and in Porphyria s Lover both speakers demonstrate no remorse for
the immoral acts they committed. In My Last Duchess the Duke does not directly admit that he has
murdered his last Duchess; however, in Porphyria s Lover, Porphyria s lover directly admits that he
strangled and murdered Porphyria in their cottage. Do you believe these two speakers have a
disturbing mental state? Is there a difference between love and obsession? Can someone become so
obsessed with another that they feel that if they are not with them, then they deserve to be with no one
else? While, in this case, the attraction proves less than fatal

Summary Of Build An Ark
promised Noah that he and his family would not be destroyed with the evil people. Build an Ark God
told Noah. When he finished you and your sons and your wife and your son s wives will go into the
Ark, God added. You will live there until the flood is over. God told him to bring one male and female
of every kind of animal into the Ark and enough food for all the people and the animals.
It is believed that Noah had Granddaughters. But if so then why did they not go into the Ark. From
what I can understand Noah s three granddaughters married wicked men and forsake the house of their
fathers. They joined the wicked and their father s beliefs. So they were punished as the wicked were
punished and drowned in the flood.

So more than likely Satan wanted Jonah dead for many reasons but mainly: 1) He saw that Jonah was
going to be a prophet of the Lord. 2) That Jonah saved hundreds and probably thousands from wrath
of God. 3) Satan just likes destruction and wants all to die and burn in Hell.
The number of years Noah was building the Ark. How many years did it take him? How did you come
to this conclusion? The bible doesn t really say how long it took, but it was less than one hundred and
twenty years. (Genesis 5:32, 6:4, and 7:6) Some people have made the claim that this passage means
that it took Noah one hundred and twenty years to build the Ark. Even given the Ark s massive scale.
(Roughly four hundred and fifty feet long by seventy five feet wide by forty feet high), one hundred
and twenty years seems like an excessively long time to take to build the Ark. Most biblical scholars
agree that God was saying the he was giving mankind, one hundred and twenty years in which to
repent, after which would come judgement for their wickedness. This means that Noah had one
hundred and twenty years warning before the flood. We can reasonably assume that God gave Noah
the blueprints for the Ark at this

Latina Women In American Films
Latina women have had roles in films since the silence era in the 1920s. However, their representation
and characteristics have constantly changed. Latina actresses originally portrayed characters that
simply fulfilled general and negative stereotypes about their ethnicity and culture. But during the Latin
Wave of the 1990s, Latina/o performers musicians, actors/actresses, dancers, etc. received more
prominent attention in American culture. Due to this newfound popularity, the status of the Latin
American woman evolved in the United States and Latina actress got to play more fulfilling parts. In
contemporary American films where a Latina woman is the protagonist, topics that have been
broached include the usage of Spanish, body types, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Latino/a actors and actresses have had increased participation in films over the decades,
majority of the films they were in devalued their culture. Italian actor Rudolph Valentino was one of
the first known Latin Lovers, which was a stereotype that all Latinos were incredibly passionate and
great in bed. Another film stereotype were Latino/a s portraying bad guys/thugs, which was to
insinuate that Latinos were cholos (a lower class Latin American who is in a gang) and could not be
civilized. Such films that portrayed Latinos as such were the 1979 film Boulevard Nights, which is
about a neighborhood gang war, and the 1988 film Stand and Deliver, which is about a high school
calculus teacher who tries to get the Latino students who are prone to dropout to do their homework.
Stereotypes involving Latina women were that they were either very sexual, the silent maid, or had a
spicy attitude. 2 It wasn t until the 1990s that there was genuine progress in representing different
aspects of Latino/a culture and people in films. The 1990s witnessed as a continuation of New
Hollywood shifts that amounted to increasing interest in casting and promoting a handful of African
American and Latina/o actors and potential stars. 3 Latina performers and actresses in particular were

The Cause And Effects Of The Bystander Effects
When there is an emergency, why is taking out our phones to take a picture or video the very first
thing we want to do? Why do we casually walk by a person who is in trouble, and go about our
business as if we did not anyone? Why do we not help or act when someone is getting, but instead we
just stand in a crowd and watch? Why do we bury our moral instincts during emergencies? We witness
a problem, consider positive action, and respond by doing nothing. Why do we not help in these
situations and put our moral instincts in shackles (Keltner Marsh, 2017). We as people are bystanders
to the world around us daily, but the question is why? The answer to all the why questions is the
bystander effect.
The bystander effect is a social psychological scenario where a person who is in an urgent situation is
not given any help by the people around due to the discourage from the presence of others
(whatispsychology.biz, 2017). Social psychologists, John Darley and Bibb Latane, introduced the
bystander effect in the 1960s after the murder of Kitty Genovese, a young woman who was stabbed to
death outside her home in New York City. It took her attacker more than half an hour to kill her, and
during that time, thirty eight people saw her being murdered, and they did nothing to help her. The
responsibility for helping was diffused among the observers (Darley Latane, 1968).
Psychologists state diffusion of responsibility is one of the main blames for the bystander effect being

Multiracial People Vs Monoracial People
Jessica Remedios and Alison Chasteen explain in their article the disadvantages multiracial people has
to pass every day of their lives. They are rejected by all ethnic groups because their don t exactly fit in
either of them, even though they represent the fastest growing minority group in the States. Remedios
and Chasteen conducted two studies to help them understand better the difference between these two
main groups, the multiracial and the monoracial. They hypothesized that because multiracial people
has unpredictable background they tend to be attracted to partners who can verify their racial
identities. Contrary to monoracial people, whose background are extremely predictable, they do not

Dbq Essay On Roman Culture
The United States has adopted parts of Ancient Roman culture into modern day life. Over time Rome
became the superpower of the Mediterranean controlling a vast amount of city states. Power from
trade, innovative minds, a powerful military, and influence from other cultures combined to make
Rome one of the most powerful regions of the time period. The United States has taken some aspects
of Rome s culture and has incorporated it into society making both regions similar. Roman culture was
like our own culture in the United States today because of the system of government, the use of
sporting events to escape the affairs of daily life and the funeral inscriptions on grave markers.
The United States government and the government of the Roman Republic are similar because of
checks and balances and the structure. The three branches of the United States government are
Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roman grave markers, while much simpler than grave markers that are used today, still consisted of
inscriptions to commemorate the person who passed. In the example of document four, the funeral
inscription on the gravestone read, To the gods of the [afterworld] ,To Julia Chrestes Junius Phoebion
for his wife well deserving it he made it. The Romans wrote inscriptions on the grave markers to tell a
little about the person s life and to honor them for the life they lived. Many people of the United States
adopted this same tradition in order to honor their dead. Grave markers now a days have evolved to
include the date of the person s birth and death, their full name, and a short note about their life. Like
the Romans, modern day citizens put the gravestones up in memory of the people in their lives who
have passed away. Years may have passed, but the tradition the Romans exhibited of honoring the
dead remains a prominent feature of the United States

Leadership Style Of Warren Buffet Essay
Leadership Style Warren Buffet is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Berkshire Hathaway
(http://www.berkshirehathaway.com), a holding company for several businesses (Berkshire Hathaway,
n.d.). Fortune Editors (2014) named Warren Buffett number four on The World s 50 Greatest Leaders
(2014) list for his leadership techniques with his 300,000 employees. Buffett is also a proponent for
philanthropy and earmarks Berkshire Hathaway shares to distribute to several foundations annually
(Berkshire Hathaway Inc., n.d.). In 2014, Buffett led his followers with a hands off style empowering
his managers to act as owners (Fortune Editors, 2014). However, Buffett did not begin his career with
a hands off style; his leadership techniques evolved as he became a seasoned CEO. Over time, Buffett
shifts from a unilateral power to a mutual power (Kelly, 2013). Unilateral Power Kelly (2013)
segments Buffett s leadership transition into seven stages: opportunist, diplomat, expert, achiever,
individualist, strategist, and alchemist. During the first four stages, Buffett concerned himself with
growing his investment and not on the impact of the organization s reputation, employees welfare, or
community and is why this category is unilateral power (Kelly, 2013). In the early 1960 s, his
transactional leadership style tarnished his reputation following the sale of Dempster Mill (Kelly,
2013). Dempster Mill Dempster Mill was a farm equipment manufacturing company Buffett took

You can also be plagiarizing if you use some of your old work without the teacher knowing you did so. In universities across America about ¾ of people are involved in some kind of academic dishonesty (Heckler, Rice, and Bryan 229). Many students have different reasons as to why they had to cheat on an assignment and they range from not having enough time, not getting the sufficient information from the teacher or for the assignment, and sometimes some students also say that the teacher almost gives them no choice (Puka). This is a recurring theme within the book, the reader sees the anxiety that Amir feels for betraying Hassan in the alley that day, and from that day he does his best to repent for his unatoned sins. Another importance of first person narrative within The Catcher in the Rye and The Kite Runner is it allows the reader to empathize with the characters of the novels. In both novels the narrator/main character is not the most likeable. Holden Caulfield is a very cynical and jaded narrator, and finds the hypocrisy and ugliness of the world around him almost unbearable, through his cynicism he tries to protect himself from the pain and disappointment of the adult world. • 6. Causes Of The Hindenburg Disaster 1. The Hindenburg was destroyed in 32 seconds by one main cause. The extreme amount of hydrogen on board. Though there were other factors, this was really the central problem. To be more specific, a static spark ignited hydrogen that was leaking in the Zeppelin, therefore causing the disaster we know today. If you can accept that the Zeppelin was not sabotaged, then the reason for the hydrogen leak is one of the biggest causes for speculation. According to Hugo Eckener, the president of the Zeppelin company who was involved in the investigation, the Zeppelin should have never tried to land it should have kept flying. The ships sharp turns when it was trying to land could have definitely caused something to become loose or fall out of place, which then could have caused a hydrogen leak. The materials used were basically the best for what they had for the time, so the materials were not the problem. Zeppelins were known to not be the safest way to air travel, because there were multiple other accidents before the Hindenburg, without enough innovation to help prevent future disaster. • 7. The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood Essay Ni Robi McNair Cuny Ela Ms. Milliner EES21QH 09 October 19, 2016 In the society that we reside in today our voice is a source of power and our words allow us to have a say in our lives especially for the female population. Many years ago a woman s voice was to be kept at a whisper if even heard at all. We had no opinion on who we wanted to be or on how the world saw us. We were simply women who took care of the children, cooked, cleaned, and catered to the men of our home. But we broke out of that silence and women created a name for themselves, Independent. We could do anything a man could do and maybe even better and we have now lived in that freedom for many years. But author of the novel, The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood pulled her readers attention showing them a world in which the woman s voice was again taken away. Atwood revealed how powerful the voice is. In this novel women no longer have a say in what happens to them or their bodies. They were forced to bare the children of the men they are assigned to and were stripped away from their past lives. The only key to a small piece of freedom was through their language, through their use of words to paint a different picture than the one in front of them. That is what main character Offred did to survive the world she was living in. She paints pictures with her words and even though she did not have power over her circumstance her words gave her an escape from everything. It gave an escape for all the ... Raised by Christian parents who modeled Christ s love, my early life was uneventful and peaceful. I followed the rules and never got in any serious trouble. So for the first ten years of my life, my faith was not tested and had no chance of maturing. My life of ease did not incite me to seek God or his purpose for me. God was in the background for me then. Then came some hard times. My easy life was shaken when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was her second cancer diagnosis and more serious than the first. Real life stress and worry came crashing in on me. Was I being punished for some wrong doing? Would my mom survive? What would happen to me? I was just a kid, but I knew how serious this was. At first, I did not know where to find help and comfort. Then I remembered seeing my parents turn to prayer and the Bible especially when they had worries. I came across Ephesian 1:4, Even before he made the world, God loved us/me and chose us/me in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. This verse reminded me of what my parents told me when I was very young. God chose me to have a relationship with Him through his Son, Christ. He holds me without fault because of the sacrifice his Son made for me. My mom s illness was not a punishment because I have already been forgiven for my sins. I found peace and ... They also mentioned the increased production in the United States and finally the tentative nuclear deal which would make their oil more readily available to our country. In the article they also predicted that by the time football season came around that tens of thousands of gas stations across the country will be below the $2 a gallon mark. When slavery was brought to Trinidad, it caused the people of Trinidad to become depressed along with the rest of the world. When the British decided to join the colonies Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad s sugar economy started to collapse. With the collapse of the economy and commodity prices rising, workers started to riot in Trinidad. Together these made the people and the colony of Trinidad difficult to work and live. While researching these topics, I used history articles and nonfiction books. I used these because they gave me the most useful information for my topics. They helped me have a better understanding of how the British and how imperialism affected Trinidad and it s people. Having the right and the best information will make for a better paper. Imperialism is a type of government that seeks to increase its size, either by forcing (through war) or influencing (through politics) other countries to submit to their rule. While researching about imperialism, I found that many articles explained how imperialism affected this colony in a way that I understand it. Slavery in Trinidad is the first reason to why imperialism in Trinidad was negative. For example, Between 1518 and 1870, the transatlantic slave trade supplied the greatest proportion of the Caribbean population (Countrystudies.us). This explains that Trinidad s slave trade was so bad, that the development of their colony was ten times harder. The slavery that the British began in Trinidad, became a major cause for how bad Trinidad s development would be. Another example of how slavery affected Trinidad, Even after the end of slavery and apprenticeship the Caribbean was not totally free. Former enslaved people received no compensation and had limited representation in the legislature s (Nationalarchives.gov.uk). Even though the slaves did not have to work anymore, their lives in Trinidad still were not the best that they could have been. The slave trade was a big part of why the people of Trinidad suffered from depression that was happening all over the world. While H. erectus characteristics vary across continents, the majority share the same range in body size, brains, and cranial shape. H. erectus adults had robust bodies weighing more than 100 lbs. and measuring 5 6 tall. The range in H. erectus brain size is 700 to 1250 cm(^3). Aside from the obvious location differences, there are pros and cons to online learning that are very different from a classroom. A student must be willing to embrace these differences to successfully move forward and excel in the online environment. One of the things in online learning that is important is establishing your classroom. With a traditional class, the classroom and times are designated to the student. In an online environment, it is up to the student to determine the when and where. It is important to remember that all of your classes take place on the computer and even your book can be found there. It is the student s responsibility to make this work for themselves. Part of being able to excel in learning is setting up a time and a place where you will be able to make learning work for you. This also relates to good time management. Let those around you know when you will be in class so that they do not disturb you during this time. With a designated time and place set aside, a student can begin to schedule their days around when they have time to get their classwork completed. In an overly simplified process, governments invest capital to provide aid to developing countries (in this case food aid), it then does not yield a specific result or target, and the aid goes somewhere unintended (Easterly, 2006). In The White Man s Burden, Easterly discusses the notion that aid aims to please the donor instead of their electorate, by focusing on the wrong projects, and project impacts are often not measured scientifically (Easterly, 2006). The United States plays a crucial role in the world economy, meaning that every issue and difficulty faced the United States economy has implications far outside the U.S., understanding how these issues relate to one another sheds insight into just how connected every area of the economy actually is. Beginning with unemployment in the 2007 2009 recession, U.S. unemployment rates peaked at 10% as well as held 41 consecutive months at rates higher than eight percent (Lazear 1). The U.S. economy plummeted during this time; many attributed the shift to a large decrease in the number of employed workers. To be able to better understand the unemployment issue, we must first examine the form of unemployment faced by the U.S. economy. Many believe that the changes faced by the U.S. labor market ... The turning point of Napoleon s career also came in 1812 when war broke out between France and Russia because of Alexander I s refusal to enforce the continental. Dying horses littered the roads and the advanced guard found little forage as Russians everywhere abandoned their homes. Napoleon knew that he needed to fight. At Smolensk, he set up for a battle and waited but the Russians, afraid of a trap steadily withdrew their troops from Smolensk and continued to retreat deeper into Russia. The only major battle in the Russian campaign proved that something was definitely lacking in Napoleon s judgment. Borodino was a battle of legendary proportions. Before the battle Napoleon proclaimed, Soldiers, here is the battle you have so long desired! However, the fight was inconclusive. At its end, Napoleon found himself the possessor, not of a victory, but of a barren hillside and an increasingly compelling commitment to advance further into the east. Well into the battle, the French had almost cracked the left side of the Russian Army. Several French generals had requested that Napoleon would commit the guard infantry into battle. This would create the final blow and insure the Russian defeat. After 14 hours of intense combat, the fighting died out at nightfall, and Mikhail Illarionovich Kutusov, the Russian general, gratefully began to retreat his troops. The guard infantry had remained unused. After the Battle of Borodino, in which losses on both sides totaled ! over 70,000 men, Napoleon had 100,000 effectives remaining, while Kutusov probably had no more than 55,000. ... The period s nickname suggests that Monroe s years in presidency were marked by a spirit of nationalism, optimism, and goodwill. Thomas Jefferson referred to the Missouri Compromise as the geographical line that would cause more irritation in America every time an issue environmentally came about (6). Although the Missouri compromise crated a new slave state in Missouri and a free one in Maine, this did not totally resolve the conflicts about allowing slavery in certain parts of the nation. Jefferson feared that the nation s perseverance would be affected due to this dividing line. Another contribution to the growth of political sectionalism was that from 1820 to 1824, the nation disbanded into multiple political groups (7). By the time the election of 1820 came to a close, James Monroe won most of the electoral votes, which showed that the people politically agreed on one person to run their nation. Mitochondria (mt) provide critical function in (a) maintenance of cellular energy supplies, i.e., thermoregulation and synthesis of essential molecules (such as phospholipids and heme); (b) apoptosis or programmed cell death; and (c) mediating multiple cellular signaling pathways (Ryan and Hoogenraad 2007). It is widely accepted that mitochondria and chloroplasts descended from free living bacterial ancestors (Dyall et al. 2004). Following their acquisition by eukaryotic cells during endosymbiotic evolution, most of the genes in these organelles were either lost or transferred to the nucleus. Today, it is demonstrated that from all mitochondrial proteins (over 1500) most of them (93 99%) are encoded in the nucleus, synthesized in the cytoplasm and then imported into the organelles (Woodson and Chory 2008). For instance, human mtDNA only contains 37 genes and codes for 13 encoding polypeptides, 22 tRNAa, and 2 rRNAs (Ryan and Hoogenraad 2007). The relationship between organelles and the nucleus is continually evolving to suit an organism s needs. Based on the above mentioned close relationship, a strict communication between mitochondria, chloroplasts and the nucleus is indispensible. Hundreds of genetic diseases in humans and thousands of phenotypic variations in plants and other organisms are known to be the result of alterations affecting nuclear mitochondrial (NM) communication. It was first performed by Joan Littlewood s Theatre Workshop in 1963. The play shows all major moments of the first world war. Portrayed as a comedy, Joan littlewood implemented the use of Brechtian style performance, dark humour and satirical language to shock the audience comedically. Born 1914 in South London Joan Littlewood grew up surrounded by the war. In 1935 she met Jimmy Miller, aka Ewan MacColl; once married the two set up a new company, Theatre Union. Littlewood took many influences on board, including the movement system of Rudolf Laban, the modern ideas of lighting and design written by Adolphe Appia in addition to, 16th century Italian commedia dell arte, which greatly inspired her later works. She is extensively noted for her work in developing the left wing Theatre Workshop, she believes in sharing a story and playing it true and has been referred to as the mother of modern theatre The play Oh What A Lovely War was first developed in 1963 by Joan Littlewood s Theatre Workshop. The play was written as a satire of the first world war, I can infer this from the name of the play itself, as Oh What A Lovely War presents the war to be a spectacle and not the horror it actually was. Consequently, throughout the play the war is mocked, each actor throughout the play performs dressed as a pierrot (jester/clown) this is calling the war a pierrot show, as Joan Littlewood in her autobiography ... • 44. Neanderthals, Ancestors to Human Beings Essay The most recent ancestor to the modern human, Homo neanderthalensis existed between 300,000 and 35,000 years ago. Originating in Africa, ancestors of the early Neanderthals migrated northwards almost 800,000 years ago. These migrants colonized much of the Old World with the majority based in Europe and small groups scattered throughout the Middle East and Asia. Historically, the Neanderthals were among the most resiliant creatures to exist on Earth. As a population, they thrived during the European ice age 40,000 years ago. The average Neanderthal life spanned thirty years due to the extreme physical strain and harsh living conditions of life during this period of Earth s history. Traditionally, Neanderthals have been viewed as large, hulking ape like beings that survived by aggression and power through the harshest conditions possible on earth. They have been painted as unsophisticated and unable to compete with humans on an intellectual level. These academics theorized that superior human intellect and reasoning gave humans the advantage in hunting game and securing the most valuable natural resource, eventually driving the Homo neanderthalensis to extinction 30,000 years ago. Popular culture describes Neanderthals as first viewed by science as large, hulking ape like beings. However, new evidence suggests that one of the first reconstructed Neanderthal skeletons did not consider that the individual suffered from acute arthritis. Despite unique, this Neanderthal s hunching posture was associated with the entire species, giving one the impression of a brutish caveman . This new understanding has reformed research on the Neanderthal and a new understanding of humanity s earliest ancestor By examining Neanderthal tools and utensils one can gain an understanding of the complexity of ... Lover and or Last (A analysis of the similarities and differences in My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover) Murders always have rational motives for murder, and murders always have some kind of personal relation with their victim (Schmid). It is both horrifying and interesting that the majority of victims have a close, personal correlation with their murderers. In My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a dramatic monologue in which a Duke addresses the agent of a Count about the possible marriage between him and the Count s daughter. However, before the Duke can make the decision to marry or not to marry the Count s daughter he briefs the agent of the Count about his last Duchess. The Duke wants to make sure that the next woman he will marry will be submissive and won t give him any trouble, unlike his last Duchess. When he finished you and your sons and your wife and your son s wives will go into the Ark, God added. You will live there until the flood is over. God told him to bring one male and female of every kind of animal into the Ark and enough food for all the people and the animals. It is believed that Noah had Granddaughters. But if so then why did they not go into the Ark. From what I can understand Noah s three granddaughters married wicked men and forsake the house of their fathers. They joined the wicked and their father s beliefs. So they were punished as the wicked were punished and drowned in the flood. Who was Jonah s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So more than likely Satan wanted Jonah dead for many reasons but mainly: 1) He saw that Jonah was going to be a prophet of the Lord. 2) That Jonah saved hundreds and probably thousands from wrath of God. 3) Satan just likes destruction and wants all to die and burn in Hell. The number of years Noah was building the Ark. How many years did it take him? How did you come to this conclusion? The bible doesn t really say how long it took, but it was less than one hundred and twenty years. (Genesis 5:32, 6:4, and 7:6) Some people have made the claim that this passage means that it took Noah one hundred and twenty years to build the Ark. Even given the Ark s massive scale. (Roughly four hundred and fifty feet long by seventy five feet wide by forty feet high), one hundred and twenty years seems like an excessively long time to take to build the Ark. Most biblical scholars agree that God was saying the he was giving mankind, one hundred and twenty years in which to repent, after which would come judgement for their wickedness. This means that Noah had one hundred and twenty years warning before the flood. We can reasonably assume that God gave Noah the blueprints for the Ark at this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. The Cause And Effects Of The Bystander Effects When there is an emergency, why is taking out our phones to take a picture or video the very first thing we want to do? Why do we casually walk by a person who is in trouble, and go about our business as if we did not anyone? Why do we not help or act when someone is getting, but instead we just stand in a crowd and watch? Why do we bury our moral instincts during emergencies? We witness a problem, consider positive action, and respond by doing nothing. Why do we not help in these situations and put our moral instincts in shackles (Keltner Marsh, 2017). We as people are bystanders to the world around us daily, but the question is why? The answer to all the why questions is the bystander effect. The bystander effect is a social psychological scenario where a person who is in an urgent situation is not given any help by the people around due to the discourage from the presence of others (whatispsychology.biz, 2017). Social psychologists, John Darley and Bibb Latane, introduced the bystander effect in the 1960s after the murder of Kitty Genovese, a young woman who was stabbed to death outside her home in New York City. It took her attacker more than half an hour to kill her, and during that time, thirty eight people saw her being murdered, and they did nothing to help her. The responsibility for helping was diffused among the observers (Darley Latane, 1968). Psychologists state diffusion of responsibility is one of the main blames for the bystander effect being ... Over time, Buffett shifts from a unilateral power to a mutual power (Kelly, 2013). Unilateral Power Kelly (2013) segments Buffett s leadership transition into seven stages: opportunist, diplomat, expert, achiever, individualist, strategist, and alchemist. During the first four stages, Buffett concerned himself with growing his investment and not on the impact of the organization s reputation, employees welfare, or community and is why this category is unilateral power (Kelly, 2013).
