This document discusses congenital sensorineural hearing loss and the role of high-resolution CT and MR imaging in evaluating the underlying abnormalities. It describes various inner ear malformations including complete labyrinthine aplasia, cochlear aplasia, Mondini deformity, semicircular canal dysplasia, enlarged vestibular aqueduct, and internal auditory canal stenosis. HRCT and MR imaging are important for precisely delineating the inner ear anatomy and any associated brain or skull base anomalies to determine candidacy for cochlear implantation.
