The Higgs boson Theorised by physicists Francois Elgert...
The Higgs boson or God Particle was theorised 50 years ago by two physicists Francois Elgert and
Peter Higgs. They were awarded with a Nobel Prize for confirming its existence on July 4th, 2012. It
is possible further research will lead to major discoveries in the future of physics . The Higgs boson is
known as the key to understanding why mass exists and how it was originally constructed. It should
be further examined and studied.
The Higgs boson and Higgs field have been explained many different ways in order to provide a better
understanding. The more interaction something has with the field, the more mass it will have and the
simplest way of explaining this is through a metaphor. For example, consider a body of water. The
water will drag on things that move through it, but it will not affect all things in the same way. A
jetski, for instance, would meet little resistance as it moves forward which resembles the way
electrons cooperate with the Higgs field. There is very little interaction and therefore less mass. A
swimmer on the other hand will meet much more resistance while emerged in water. This resembles
the way that W and Z bosons drag through the Higgs field. They have thousands of times more mass
than electrons, protons, and neutrons. Photons do not interact with the scalar field and therefore have
no mass. In this metaphor planes flying over bodies of water represent the photons. The body of water
represents the Higgs field and the water droplets that make up

Unspun Advert Analysis
The first technique from the book, Unspun that appears in the following add is eye candy. The
example shown in the add is the image of a nice convertible car in very close proximity to the sun.
This is an example of eye candy because it demonstrates how the advertisers are using the picture to
detract the audience away from what the actual meaning of the advertisement is. If you look into the
details the product is actually for protecting against the suns harmful rays. The advertisers used an
extreme exaggeration of a giant flaming ball of fire very close to the car to make it appear to the
audience that if you use this product your car can survive the toughest conditions. In reality the
product only stands up to a very minimal amount of sun

Service Quality Is An Antecedent Of Perceived Value Essay
Service quality is an antecedent of perceived value, and it will cause a significant influence on
perceived value (Bojanic, 1996; Oh, 1999; Sweeney et al., 1999). Ostrom Iacobucci (1995) found that
price, level of quality, friendliness of service personnel, and the degree of customization of the service
are important factors to customer value perceptions. Although customer perceived value has long been
recognized in marketing research as an important concept in influencing preference, satisfaction,
loyalty, and other important outcomes (Cronin et al., 2000), most studies have examined customer
value in the context of offline rather than online customer behavior (Overby Lee, 2006). Although
customer perceived value in the online shopping environment is of crucial importance, previous
studies have neglected that variable (Chang et al., 2005). In an online environment, customers can find
alternatives easily; therefore building long term relationships presents a more difficult challenge for E
commerce companies (Chang Wang, 2011). Gummerus (2010) investigated the impact of three
resource inputs (i.e., service content, service process, and service configurations) on the perceptions of
value of a Finnish health care website. The results reveal that the service content of the discussion
groups had the strongest relationship with customer value, followed by article content and database
content. As to service process security, usability, and responsiveness were all

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
The definition of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome otherwise known as SIDS on EBSCOhost is, the
sudden unexpected death of a younger child under the year of one year during sleep that cannot be
explained. Astonishingly, this fatality cannot be described after a postmortem assessment including an
autopsy, a detailed history, and scene evaluation. This paper will thoroughly discus who is at risk for
SIDS, how the disorder can be reduced, and the importance of educating future parents of SIDS.
Babies who are at risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome are: premature babies who are born at a
very low birth rate, those who have multiple siblings

Feliks Skrzynecki Analysis
The journey that comes when relocating from one country to another can be a significant challenge for
migrants through the idea of belonging. The notion (idea) of belonging is explored through the
dynamics between conforming to social influence and maintaining perception of self identity. This is
reflected in Peter Skrzynecki s poem Feliks Skrzynecki which highlights the struggles of migrants, in
this case, his father of trying to belong and not feeling like an outcast. Peter examines how an inherent
(existing in something) desire to belong to a group or community may have caused them to deny
aspects of identity. Peter s assimilation into the Australian way of life induces a detachment from his
father and his cultural ideas. Through

In this term paper the discovery of the Polio vaccine will be discussed and broken down into deeper
thought on why and how it was discovered. Poliomyelitis is an infectious disease that reached
epidemic levels in the mid twentieth century. People that were unfortunate to receive this disease
faced hardships including fevers, sore throat and vomiting(Allaby). These are just symptoms but Polio
can be a vicious disease leaving their patients paralyzed. The majority of people who are diagnosed
with Polio don t get paralyzed right away or die suddenly. The symptoms are very similar to any other
sickness and people who are newly diagnosed do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These other scientists include Thomas Francis, Jr. who Salk worked with for a year in microbiology
and resulting in Francis isolating two types of influenza virus(Allaby). Microbiologist John
Enders, virologists Frederick Robbins and Thomas Weller all influenced Salk to find the breakthrough
he so desperately needed. Both virologists grown viruses in tissue taken from a living organism using
penicillin to keep the object free from infection(Allaby). This was a breakthrough for Salk because he
copied their procedure and used viruses from the spinal cords of polio patients and grew them in
another object to test on(Allaby). Jonas Silk has always been involved with medical science
throughout his entire life. He attends and graduates in surgery from the City College of New York. In
1938 when Salk works with Thomas Francis he was introduced to finding the influenza
vaccine(Allaby). This is the event that made Salk interested in finding out more about viruses and
urges him to want to find a vaccine for a disease. Salk ended up working on a influenza vaccine at the
Virus Research Unit of the University of Michigan School of Public Health(Allaby). From working on
the influenza vaccine Salk had the opportunity to become the head of the virus research laboratory at
the University of Pittsburgh in 1947(Allaby). This is where and when Salk decides to begin his work
on the polio vaccine. The testing Salk produced with the Polio virus in the spinal cords, they revealed

There are many juveniles who may have learning difficulties, meaning they have a hard time learning
or getting an education. Although, there are cases where this is serious and is a problem. Juveniles
with learning disabilities can actually fix this, but some can t.
The relationship between Juvenile Delinquency and Learning Disabilities (LD) has increased
gradually. This is usually the cause of school problems that they encounter. They pay less attention at
school, do less work and in sometimes, don t do their work as well. Juveniles today lack the energy to
pay attention at school which cause them to have this learning disability. In serious cases, they might

Pontius Pilate Influence On Jesus Plate
Pontius Pilate was a Roman governor who overlooked Judea. To me, he was made out to seem like a
weak leader in the gospels, however in all actuality, he was a harsh and strong governor. He could
arguably be considered the single man who changed history as we know it. The gospels do not explain
much about Pilate and his background. The only time he was really introduced was during the trial of
Jesus. He was acknowledged a few times to show he was the one who followed through with the
crucifixion, and then he ceased to be brought back up again. However, the book Pontius Pilate by Paul
L. Maier thoroughly and adequately illustrates Pilate s life before and after the life changing verdict.
This was a fascinating read that really captivated my interest. It was long and at times hard to follow,
but I was extremely intrigued with the eccentric details that Maier provided. ... Show more content on

I never understood how serious the division was but Pontius Pilate helped inform me of the
magnitude. There was serious tension since Pilate was governor over Jews and that ultimately affected
his decisions. He went so far as to use Jesus being on trial as a way to manipulate the Jews to admit
they had no king but Caeser. This was a confidence booster for Pilate because it reaffirmed his
authority of Rome. Not surprisingly, he didn t stop there. Pilate made sure the Jews felt guilty about
the crucifixion. It was said that Pilate washed his hands clean of Jesus blood. After, the Jews replied
by saying, His blood be on us and on our children (238). Pilate operated the whole production so the
blame would be focused on the Jews and not him. I was very shocked to see such evil works from a
man. I didn t know how intense the rivalry between the Jews and Gentiles were, but it was clearly big
enough for Pilate to influence a trial, Jesus trial, for his own selfish,

Advantages Of Viral Marketing
INTRODUCTION
Technology and information have growing rapidly in recent decades led to the increasing number of
new media that support the means to communicate. It is considered as a new era of communication
and information. The massive scale of development gradually continued to be used by many parties,
especially in the process of dissemination of information via internet. Everyone use the internet to
distribute information and news to other people. The phenomenon of Internet usage is evidenced by
the increasing number of internet users in the world, especially in developing countries. Based on data
obtained from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the internet user in the developing

Then, according to Dahan (2012) quoted by Snyder (2004), viral marketing is a type of word of mouth
marketing technique used on the internet . Viral marketing can encourage customers to communicate
with each other in order to offer product or brand under consideration. Viral marketing concept, which
was first used by Steve Jurvetson and Tim Draper, is defined as a word of mouth marketing technique
used in relation to a brand, product or service similar to the spread of viruses on social networks on
electronic media (Comet, 2006; Dahan, 2012; cited in Akyol, 2013). In conclusion, viral marketing
can be defined as a word of mouth marketing technique that use internet as a social networks media to
spread information related to our products or brands.
Viral marketing is different with other marketing strategies. The difference is that it has an authentic
content that provokes individuals. Individuals share this creative content due to its authenticity on
electronic social networks and thus, this content reaches millions of people by being communicated
from one individual to another on social networks (Wilson, 2005; cited in Dahan, 2012). This content,
which spreads like a virus very fast from one individual to another, increases awareness even if it does
not affect the sales of the related brand, product or service instantly (Dahan 2012, cited in Akyol,

My Bubble Research Paper
In the past, I was not the most outgoing of people. I never spoke over others, and I only opened my
mouth when asked. I always let others walk over me because I feared confrontation. I lived within my
own bubble of safety. As long as I stayed within the boundaries of everything and away from
everyone, I convinced myself that this was the most efficient way to live. No problems with anyone
else, and no problems within my life. Although the life I lived was very safe, it was also very
colorless. This mindset of safety clouded over me and influenced almost all of my choices.
I never seemed to muster up the courage to talk to new people and stayed within my circle of friends. I
never branched out, I never tried out for sports, or the school musical or anything new because I
feared the results would not turn out in my favor. Even food wise, I did not try new things. Growing
up in a Filipino household, I was offered a plethora of diverse cultural foods; I however, had a very
strict diet of apple slices and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This tied to my mindset of staying
within my safety bubble. Trying new things was against my entire being, as if I would malfunction

hunger to grow greater than it has ever been. My ravenous self rejoiced when I saw a white takeout

mozzarella sticks. This began an internal battle within myself on whether I should allow myself to

The styles from Lester Young and Coleman Hawkins were very different throughout the swing era.
Hawkins and Young were two of the best tenor sax players that had emerged during the swing era.
Considerably different, Hawkins played a huge dark sound, whereas Young s was light and breathy.
Some of the differences were as follows; Hawkins improvisations were based on his superior
knowledge of harmony, Young s were rooted in the blues, Hawkins played with a rhythmic approach
that was always closely tied to the beat, and Young s rhythmic conception was much looser, and often
untied to the beat. Although they had many differences, they inspired sax players for years to come.

Odyssey Research Paper
Before the Odyssey is explained, there is much historical information about Ancient Greece to cover.
To begin, the time period that Odyssey is a part of is known as Homeric society. Homeric society is a
concoction of diverging assortments in various points in history. Because the setting is a combination
of different times from several coteries, the story includes many ideas and values particular to each
one. In the 8th century BC, the Mediterranean saw a growth in population after the dark age, thus
leading to the menagerie that the Ancient Greeks partook in. Moving forward, there is much evidence
that suggests that epics were created between 750 and 650 B.C.E. These stories were set in
Mycenaean Greece around the 12th century B.C.E, also known as the Bronze Age. ... Show more

In order to elicit this pristine age, the Iliad and Odyssey were written in such a style that describes the
lifestyle of those in the great kingdom of the Bronze Age. The Greeks are more often called Achaeans
which is was the name of a tribe that lived in Greece during the Bronze Age (SparkNotes Editors 3).
Moving on, in Ancient Greece, myriads of sacrifices and games were enacted in honor of their gods
and goddesses ( Gods and Festivals 1). Multitudes of competition a pivotal component in Greece s
history also involved music, dramas and athletics( Gods and Festivals 1). For example, The Olympic
Games is Ancient Greece s most well known event. They held The Olympic Games in honor of the
supreme God Zeus. In fact, about half of the year in Athens was dedicated with sacrificial offerings
and festivals to their Gods and Goddesses ( Gods and Festivals 1). During that time period, many
Greek people thought music as another way of devoting themselves and honoring their gods. Just like
today, music was an important part of their daily routine (Carr

1. Jennifer Erickson was employed by Bartell Drug Company. Jennifer sued the company because its

Title VII or the PDA because prescription contraceptives were voluntary, were preventive, were used
by women only, and did not treat or prevent an illness or disease and because control of one s fertility

Light On Photosynthesis
This lab allowed the experimenters to understand the effect of light on the producer s photosynthesis.
Once understanding how the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis worked, the experimenters
can make predictions on how the light will affect the photosynthesis. For example, a low amount of
light will affect the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis because light is essential for those
reactions. The question the experimenters asked was, Does having more or less exposure to light cause
a faster rate of photosynthesis? The experimenters first had to know that the leaf tissue of a producer
contains gas filled intercellular spaces. Since the leaf have these spaces, they float when placed in a
solution. When the leaf disks are put into a vacuum pump, the gases leave the intercellular spaces and
the liquid fills these spaces. In doing so, the leaf disks sink to the bottom. This is because the liquid
have a higher density than the gases that were in those spaces. As oxygen is made by photosynthesis,
it diffuses into the intercellular spaces. When there is enough oxygen in the intercellular spaces, ...

However, the amount of time the experimenters waited before looking at each petri dish was not exact.
Having this could ve caused an experimental error because each petri dish could ve have more or less
time under their light amount. This would affect how many reactions of photosynthesis the leaf disks
would ve done, causing the number of leaf disks floating to be incorrect. A way to fix is to have a
timer, so that way each petri dish could have to same time of light exposure. In conclusion, the
experimenters learned that the higher amount of light caused more leaf disk to be floating. This is
supported by what the experimenters learn in class, because light is used in the light dependent
reactions of photosynthesis. Therefore, having more light would have to produce more

The Mythology Of Thor, Apollo, And Other Gods
Much of culture that people have been apart of throughout the centuries has largely been contributed
to the religion in which is followed. For instance, the Greeks believed in Zeus, Apollo, and other gods
of that nature. With the progression of time, however, these religions have slowly faded turning into
simple myths of the past. Many former religions are now mere myths. One in particular stills plays an
influential role in today s modern society, and that is Norse mythology. More specifically, Thor, one of
the many gods of the Norse religion, can still be found throughout the cultures of the world. Although
Thor is no longer necessarily a god, more of a legend, he still can be found in many tales and stories.

Overall, what is now considered Norse mythology was once a thriving religion with many follows
who had hopes for life after death. Similar to many other religions, Norse mythology holds one very
particular, and special figure that many look up to for guidance and wisdom. In this case, that person
is Thor. Thor is certainly, one of the more popular and important gods in Norse mythology. Thor is the
son of the God of the gods, Odin, and his wife, Fyorgyn. His destined duty, is to protect the Aesir god
and their fortress known as Asgard. Many of Thor s tales are that of him protecting his people and
saving the world. Quite often, Thor is dedicated as having a red beard, the eyes of fire, and being as
large as a monster. This image is the intimidating factor which, in many ways, drives his power and
undeniable strength. Many of his tales follow him into battles with his sidekick goats, Tanngniost and
Tanngrisnir, and his brother Loki. More often than not, Thor wins these battle because of his almost
indomitable strenght. With these characteristics, Thor has become the archetype of loyalty and that of
an honorable warrior, which still holds true today. As a god, Thor has a very important role. He is
considered the storm and weather good, similar to the Greek Zeus. His job, as mentioned before, is to
defend the world and also to control the never ending skies. His hammer, Mjollnir is what gives him

Hill s Incidence of Catastrophe, was very different from what I experienced in Fast video. Hill made
himself the protagonist from the novel Thomas The Obscure by Maurice Blanchot. Hill s idea on this
video derived from what he read and recreated the story himself based on personal memory. I felt the
protagonist in the video was trapped in a bad dream and consumed by the words from the novel. There
where scenes where he found himself running frantically through the woods giving me the impression
he was trying to escape something or someone. He was attached to the novel so much that his
presence at the dinner table felt unwelcomed that everybody stopped talking to each other. It was
complicated understanding how everybody became insane near the end. The video ends with the
protagonist laying down in the fetal position naked in his own excrement and mumbling unrecognized
words.
Both videos where very different

Automobile In The 1920s Essay
Automobiles the in 1920 s The 1920 s was a decade of great change in the American automobile
industry. By 1920, the automobile industry had developed in Detroit, although there were plants in
other cities in United Stated. Even though the percentage of automobile produced overseas would
grow during this time period, the majority were produced in the United States. The number of vehicle
produced by American grew from approximately 2.3 million in 1920 to over 5 million in 1929.
(Mazzeno, Automobiles and auto manufacturing. ) In 1920, the Model T, introduced by Henry Ford in
1908, was one of the most popular automobiles in America. Model T was at such a low price that
nearly two thirds of the cars on American road at that time was Henry Ford s Model T. (Mazzeno,
Model A Ford ). The four cylinder, twenty horsepower Model T, first offered in October 1908 was sold
for $825. It only had two speed planetary transmission, which made it easy to drive. ... Show more

The assembly line made the mass production possible, which lead in lower consumer cost. In 1920 the
price of a Model T fell to $290 and that was about three months salary for a average person at that
time period (Ewing). Also with Ford s new idea of the installment plan, the Model T became
affordable for people who could pay a portion of the cost up front, and then pay a reasonable monthly
payment (Burchett). In 1920, the Ford company manufactured one million Model T vehicle, four years
later that number had doubled. However, by 1926 the sales had declined because General Motors
(GM) came up with a, Pontiac, that drew customers away from Ford s Model T. GM was not the only
company whose sales where going up. Chevrolet sales in 1927 reached over a million dollars, this was
the first time since 1908 that a company other than Ford whose sales went up (Foner and

Analysis Of Ode To Thanks By Pablo Neruda
Gratitude Is Key: A Review of Pablo Neruda s Ode to Thanks Are you thankful for thanks? Well,
thanks should be at the top of your list! Why be thankful for an insignificant word though? However,
thanks, according to Ode to Thanks, can melt iron and snow. This word rings everywhere and brings
happiness where otherwise dark, dangerous shadows would take over. In the poem Ode to Thanks,
Pablo Neruda gives thanks to the word thanks by describing all of the marvelous things it does for us
using figurative language, writing an ode, and using powerful poetic elements and structure. Without
gratitude and exchanges of thank you s , our world would be filled with depression and hatred. Neruda
express his thanks for thanks in many ways, and one way was figurative language. The speaker used a
lot of powerful figurative language to get his point across. In my opinion, the strongest use of
figurative language is one that hits you right in the first stanza. It states, Thanks to thanks, / word / that
melts / iron and snow. This personification means that saying thanks can break through the toughest
and harshest of situations (the iron) and the smallest, softest of situations (the snow). Another use of
figurative language can be found in lines 9 14, where it states, Thanks / makes the rounds / from one
pair of lips to another, / soft as a bright / feather / and sweet as a petal of sugar. First off,
personification is used when the speaker says makes the rounds from one pair

Robert Langdon, Harvard university professor specializing in symbolism is being hounded by
someone and he has to find out why. Robert wakes up in a hospital bed suffering from amnesia. He

Consortium, a consulting group, tries to kill him in the hospital but he is saved by a doctor, Sienna

He then finds links to Dante s Divine Comedy in all the messages projected by the canister and uses
his knowledge of symbolism to reach Venice where he believes he will find the cave. The bag of virus
has been planted by Bertrand Zobrist, a Trans humanist genius scientist and a Dante fanatic, who was
extremely concerned about population explosion and how it will affect the Earth in the long run.
Zobrist had paid the same shadowy consulting group called The Consortium to protect the cylinder
until a certain date. He also left a disturbing video filled with Dante imagery, which also showed a
picture of the plague itself, kept in a hidden underwater location, within a slowly dissolving bag. The
video claims that the world will be changed the following morning. While he is Chased by the US
police, the World Health Organization and the female assassin, Robert and Sienna both are separated

Turkey. He then teams up with the WHO and the Consortium as he realizes that they are trying to find

The Black Panthers And The Civil Rights Movement
What comes to mind when you think of the Black Panther Party? Do you even know who the Black
Panthers really were? They helped transform the lives of many African Americans in the U.S and
helped empower the community. The Black Panther has a huge background of history, goals, and
beliefs. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale from Oakland, California founded the Panthers in 1966.
Initially, they were an African American self defense force and were highly influenced by Malcolm X
s beliefs. The Panthers had many goals such as;freedom, protecting blacks from police brutality, and
helping African Americans obtain a jobs. Despite the negative stereotypes of the Black Panthers as
people who ran around with guns, fighting police, they were a major group during the Civil Rights
Movement because they practiced self defense, established revolutionary socialism, and stimulated
Malcolm X s influence. In the following I will discuss the successful changes the Black Panther Party,
had on the African American community during the civil rights movement.
This website provides an electronic copy of the reasons given for the Black Panthers use of self
defense. The parties original purpose was to patrol African American neighborhoods to protect
residents from acts of police brutality. It was published online by the Encyclopedia Britannica. This
source was originally intended for the African Americans citizens of Oakland California, as well as the
rest of the country, to take up their constitutional

Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a type of cancer that is defined by permeation of the bone marrow,
blood, and other tissues by proliferative, clonal, abnormally differentiated, and occasionally poorly
differentiated treated cells of the hematopoietic system(1). The dynamic interaction between leukemia
cells and the bone marrow microenvironment is one of the characteristics of leukemia. The important
components of the bone marrow environment include tumor cells, extracellular matrix, non tomur
cells (fibroblasts, stromal cells, immune cells) and hypoxia(2). It is well known in solid tumors that
the excessive proliferation of tumor cells causes a severe hypoxia, which can lead to tumor
progression. In the hematologic malignancies, there is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Angiogenesis refers to the formation of new blood vessels from the previous arteries(11). Studies have
shown that tumor development and invasion in solid tumors are associated with angiogenesis, and
recent evidence suggests that angiogenesis may be in the development of acute myeloid leukemia(12).
In acute myeloid leukemia, angiogenesis directly contributes to the tumor progression by the provision
of necessary factors for blast proliferation as well as through angiogenic factors(13)..significant
angiogenic factors include VEGF A, BFGF, PDGF, FGF, in which among them VEGF A is the most
important. Furthermore the angiogenesis, VEGF A has other functions in the progress of leukemia
cells, which performs these functions by autocrine and paracrine loops. When VEGF A binds to its
receptors on leukemia cells it stimulates proliferation in these cells and also increases survival by
reducing apoptotic proteins (autocrine).

Social Commentary In 1984
It is often said that literature is a voice for social commentary. How is this true of the novel 1984 ?
Historically, literature has always echoed the key issues and themes present during that time. In the
period which Orwell wrote this novel, totalitarian government was a popular concept seeing
implementation around the world such as Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, and Mussolini s Italy. In the
novel 1984. While Orwell s world is a fictional one, it can be said that he uses it as a voice for social
commentary, and he predictions as to what a world would be like if totalitarian governments would
rule the world. This essay will aim to explore how Orwell goes about doing this.
Orwell draws from features of these totalitarian regimes in order to create the setting in which the
story takes place. In the novel, the narrator describes big brother on the poster as a mustachiod figure .
This figure is a reference to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words under the picture read BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU in all capitals. This phrase
immediately establishes the power distance relationship between the party and its members. All
citizens are constantly being watched over and are powerless compared to the party. The word
watching implies that all citizens are under scrutiny from big brother himself with the mustachiod
figure playing the role of a big brother , watching over his citizens and controlling their actions and
movements. Such a lack of freedom creates a stark contrast between normal people s lives and the
lives of Orwell s characters, and therefore acts like a warning as to what might happen in the future if
the rise of totalitarianism continued in Europe. Through this, Orwell is also criticizing this movement
by highlighting its key disadvantages and drawbacks.
Furthermore, Orwell uses bizarre and unfamiliar concepts to the reader to comment on totalitarian

A Serene Proposition Of Noise Pollution
A Serene Proposition
For getting rid of all unwanted noises across the United States, and for making a better and peaceful
America.
It is a disturbing noise to those fellow Americans who desire to sleep in past six o clock in the
morning, when they hear an ambulance rushing to the house around the block, a lawnmower eating up
grass outside a neighbor s yard, or a blender that a wife started to make herself a post run smoothie.
These noises do not just stop there however, they are around every corner of the daily American
routine. Awakened not by the rays of the sun that these citizens have set the night before but by an
airplane s propeller, these civilians wake up to their first encounter with the awful noise pollution that

The average lawn size in an american home is 8700 square feet. Researchers have converted this
number to 26 million blades of grass. Cutting 280 blades of grass every three seconds, one would
finish the yard in approximately four thousand sixty six minutes and without a sound. That s about
three days nonstop, so a more realistically, it would take a week to two weeks for a nicely cut yard.
Coincidentally, it takes two to three weeks for the grass to grow tall enough to cut it again. Just like
we Americans load up laundry over and over again, we will do this for the lawn. Yes, we already do
this but now it won t be such a burden on our ears. The lawn mower is just an example of many
possible changes that we Americans can make to create a better U.S. of A.. Soon, touchscreen tablets

The First World War I, A Brief History With Documents By...
During World War I, there were two main powers fighting against each other, the allied powers and
the central. The allied powers consisted of; France, Britain, Russia, Italy, and the United States. The
central powers consisted of; Germany, Austria Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire. The war all started
because new Germany wanted to become a global power, but Britain was ahead already, and there
couldn t be two global powers at once. Both Germany and Britain saw war as an opportunity; to
countries, war could have been a positive thing. However, neither of the countries anticipated how
long and severe the war would be. The book The First World War, a Brief History with Documents

Documents 13, 15, 17, and 18 are all letters written by British soldiers to their families back at home.
To start off, communication between the soldiers and their loved ones was closely being monitored
during the war. According to the book, those who were left behind was carefully managed (Grayzel
65). For example, document 18 is a letter written by a British soldier who explains how horrible they
are treating them while in combat. Because of all the negative things he talked about in his letter
during his time at war the letter was never sent out. Back at home during this time, the countries were
trying to convince their men to sign up for the war and have the people at home help the war in any
way. War posters like documents 10, 11, 12 and 13 all depict this image. During the wartime, they
wanted as much support from the people at home as possible. As men, you were classified weak, and
not a real man if you did not sign up for war. In document 9, it is a British recruitment poster. The
propaganda poster simply implies that the women/ citizens of Britain are asking for their men to go off
and protect their nation. If you were not able to join the war they wanted you to donate your money,

Fieldwork Definition
Fieldwork findings: Discussion
Pupil premium:
One core theme that derives from the fieldwork frequently is pupil premium. All respondents were
asked, which policy if any, would you say has been the most effective at promoting educational
attainment among pupils from economically deprived areas? (Question 4). All respondents answered
pupil premium as being the most effective policy. Respondents A, B and D all argued that the extra
funding helped to promote education attainment among pupils from economically deprived
backgrounds through more staff, additional facilities and funds for students. The data drawn from
table 4.2 supports earlier literature on pupil premium.
As previously stated, this extra funding ensures that schools with deprived pupils enroled have enough
resources as tools to succeed in education. Relating back to Table 4.2, respondents A and D both state
funding for staff, this is further supported by Carpenter et al (2013) who argue that the policy
contributes highly to additional staff and teachers have perceived this to be very effective. This is
particularly relevant to aim 3, on the outcomes of policy as additional staff contribute to promoting
educational attainment because it offers deprived pupils with additional support and guidance.
A concern is drawn from the fieldwork by respondent B and C, this ... Show more content on

The Realization Of Doublethink In 1984 By George Orwell
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH is one of the party s key phrases. This means that having uneducated,
oblivious people, contributes to the power of the party. The citizens of Oceania must believe
everything the government tells them in order to be controlled. People who refuse to believe these lies,
or try to let people know the truth, are considered enemies of the party. This is considered
thoughtcrime, and anyone who is found guilty is subject to vaporization , and will never be seen again.
In 1984, George Orwell uses characterization of the protagonists, Winston and Julia, and plot to
explain how in a society built upon countless lies, it is a crime to think or spread the truth. The
character construction of Winston Smith is based around his thoughts of truth and conspiracy. He tries
to practice doublethink, but is often unsuccessful. If you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it
from yourself. (Orwell 283). This is a thought of Winston Smith near the end of the book. This
describes the thought process of doublethink, and how one must hide their true thoughts from
themself. When Winston is done being tortured, he begins to hide the truth from himself. Life, if you
looked about you, bore no resemblance not only to the lies that streamed out of the telescreens, but
even to the ideals that the Party was trying to achieve. (Orwell 74). Winston has this thought while
considering whether the proles could ever rebel. This passage is a description of the contrast

Jack s Transformation In Lord Of The Flies Essay
As time progresses on the island without a real system of order, human nature takes over in many of
the boys, starting with Jack. Although it does not last, at the beginning of the novel even Jack agrees
with Ralph saying that they need to have rules and obey them (Golding 42). This helps display the
dramatic transformation the boys go through to eventually become full fledged savages. Golding
allows this transformation to happen in what seems like an unsettlingly fast amount of time. It shows
how quick humans can go from being functioning parts of society to savages that act like animals
without any regard for right and wrong. This makes one think about civilization in general. It raises
the question of how close society as a whole is to falling apart. Most would say that it comes down to
individual ethics and morals. If more individuals lean on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

keeping a signal fire lit at all times is their best shot. Jack seemingly does not care about this at all. He
and his group abandon the fire and go hunting for pigs (Golding #). This is quite alarming as he has
already lost sight of getting off the island. Roger kills Piggy with a boulder that simultaneously
destroys the conch, leaving Ralph as the only representation of civilization in any form (Golding 180

What Is The Purpose Of The Witches In Macbeth
In the seventeen hundreds there was a strong belief in witches and all of the power they obtained.
People, during the time, believed witches were tied to the devil and only intended to ruin peoples

unworldly power to better people. Witches could not have healed nor destroyed people without the use
of potions. During the time period of Macbeth, through the use of potions witches were capable of
predicting the future, healing a person, and destroying one s life. Witches created potions for a variety
of reasons. Witches wanted people to believe that faith would cure them. When people were going

adds, She might or might not have a reputation for harming as well as healing, but above all she was
deemed to have malevolent supernatural powers (Larner). Witches can help or hurt someone and in
Macbeth they are used to hurt someone. Macbeth was a hero and warrior until he met the witches.
Macbeth starts to change for the worse when the witches began to give him prosephies. The witches
gave Macbeth the ambition to want to become king and Macbeth would go through drastic measures
to achieve his goal of becoming king. Guiley suggests, Spells may be beneficial or harmful and they
may be worked on people, animals, and nature (Guiley). The witches did not cast a specific spell on

Lending Tree Home Loans And Home Loan Lenders
Lending Tree portends to act as an online conciliator between individuals looking for home loans and
home loan lenders. The premise is that by connecting several lenders with the client, or rather making
several lenders aware of a potential customer, that the loan with the best interest rate will rise to the
top of the stack. Lending Tree claims to offer debt consolidation and to lower one s monthly interest
rates. The company s advertising campaign seems to suggest that Lending Tree will act as a negotiator
for the client, urging banks to compete for your business. While this is not exactly the case, using the
site essentially amounts to shopping around for a better deal which, of course, is better than buying on
impulse. Lending Tree Home Loans takes your information, including your financial goals, and runs a
credit check. At this point the service submits this information to a number of lenders. This is meant to
create the impression that banks are competing for your business, when in fact the client is only
receiving basic service offers from lenders who have been made aware of her or him by Lending Tree.
Many customers have had the experience of receiving offers from lenders during non business hours
within minutes of submitting their query. This is suspicious, as it seems clear that in these cases
Lending Tree has acted as little more than an advertising service for the lenders. This would mean that
Lending Tree s real clientele are the lending firms, who are

Introduction For this situation, the discriminating part is in the execution of new framework is

The business profiles included for this situation are Leon Lassite, Vice President of Marketing, Jeff

The principle issue that emerged in the chamber of commerce was identified with issues confronted

  • 2. The Higgs boson Theorised by physicists Francois Elgert... The Higgs boson or God Particle was theorised 50 years ago by two physicists Francois Elgert and Peter Higgs. They were awarded with a Nobel Prize for confirming its existence on July 4th, 2012. It is possible further research will lead to major discoveries in the future of physics . The Higgs boson is known as the key to understanding why mass exists and how it was originally constructed. It should be further examined and studied. The Higgs boson and Higgs field have been explained many different ways in order to provide a better understanding. The more interaction something has with the field, the more mass it will have and the simplest way of explaining this is through a metaphor. For example, consider a body of water. The water will drag on things that move through it, but it will not affect all things in the same way. A jetski, for instance, would meet little resistance as it moves forward which resembles the way electrons cooperate with the Higgs field. There is very little interaction and therefore less mass. A swimmer on the other hand will meet much more resistance while emerged in water. This resembles the way that W and Z bosons drag through the Higgs field. They have thousands of times more mass than electrons, protons, and neutrons. Photons do not interact with the scalar field and therefore have no mass. In this metaphor planes flying over bodies of water represent the photons. The body of water represents the Higgs field and the water droplets that make up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The example shown in the add is the image of a nice convertible car in very close proximity to the sun. This is an example of eye candy because it demonstrates how the advertisers are using the picture to detract the audience away from what the actual meaning of the advertisement is. If you look into the details the product is actually for protecting against the suns harmful rays. The advertisers used an extreme exaggeration of a giant flaming ball of fire very close to the car to make it appear to the audience that if you use this product your car can survive the toughest conditions. • 6. Service Quality Is An Antecedent Of Perceived Value Essay Service quality is an antecedent of perceived value, and it will cause a significant influence on perceived value (Bojanic, 1996; Oh, 1999; Sweeney et al., 1999). Ostrom Iacobucci (1995) found that price, level of quality, friendliness of service personnel, and the degree of customization of the service are important factors to customer value perceptions. Although customer perceived value has long been recognized in marketing research as an important concept in influencing preference, satisfaction, loyalty, and other important outcomes (Cronin et al., 2000), most studies have examined customer value in the context of offline rather than online customer behavior (Overby Lee, 2006). Although customer perceived value in the online shopping environment is of crucial importance, previous studies have neglected that variable (Chang et al., 2005). In an online environment, customers can find alternatives easily; therefore building long term relationships presents a more difficult challenge for E commerce companies (Chang Wang, 2011). Gummerus (2010) investigated the impact of three resource inputs (i.e., service content, service process, and service configurations) on the perceptions of value of a Finnish health care website. The results reveal that the service content of the discussion groups had the strongest relationship with customer value, followed by article content and database content. As to service process security, usability, and responsiveness were all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Feliks Skrzynecki Analysis The journey that comes when relocating from one country to another can be a significant challenge for migrants through the idea of belonging. The notion (idea) of belonging is explored through the dynamics between conforming to social influence and maintaining perception of self identity. This is reflected in Peter Skrzynecki s poem Feliks Skrzynecki which highlights the struggles of migrants, in this case, his father of trying to belong and not feeling like an outcast. Peter examines how an inherent (existing in something) desire to belong to a group or community may have caused them to deny aspects of identity. Peter s assimilation into the Australian way of life induces a detachment from his father and his cultural ideas. Through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These other scientists include Thomas Francis, Jr. who Salk worked with for a year in microbiology and resulting in Francis isolating two types of influenza virus(Allaby). Microbiologist John Enders, virologists Frederick Robbins and Thomas Weller all influenced Salk to find the breakthrough he so desperately needed. Both virologists grown viruses in tissue taken from a living organism using penicillin to keep the object free from infection(Allaby). This was a breakthrough for Salk because he copied their procedure and used viruses from the spinal cords of polio patients and grew them in another object to test on(Allaby). Jonas Silk has always been involved with medical science throughout his entire life. He attends and graduates in surgery from the City College of New York. In 1938 when Salk works with Thomas Francis he was introduced to finding the influenza vaccine(Allaby). This is the event that made Salk interested in finding out more about viruses and urges him to want to find a vaccine for a disease. Salk ended up working on a influenza vaccine at the Virus Research Unit of the University of Michigan School of Public Health(Allaby). • 12. Pontius Pilate Influence On Jesus Plate Pontius Pilate was a Roman governor who overlooked Judea. To me, he was made out to seem like a weak leader in the gospels, however in all actuality, he was a harsh and strong governor. He could arguably be considered the single man who changed history as we know it. The gospels do not explain much about Pilate and his background. The only time he was really introduced was during the trial of Jesus. He was acknowledged a few times to show he was the one who followed through with the crucifixion, and then he ceased to be brought back up again. However, the book Pontius Pilate by Paul L. Maier thoroughly and adequately illustrates Pilate s life before and after the life changing verdict. This was a fascinating read that really captivated my interest. It was long and at times hard to follow, but I was extremely intrigued with the eccentric details that Maier provided. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I never understood how serious the division was but Pontius Pilate helped inform me of the magnitude. There was serious tension since Pilate was governor over Jews and that ultimately affected his decisions. He went so far as to use Jesus being on trial as a way to manipulate the Jews to admit they had no king but Caeser. This was a confidence booster for Pilate because it reaffirmed his authority of Rome. Not surprisingly, he didn t stop there. Pilate made sure the Jews felt guilty about the crucifixion. It was said that Pilate washed his hands clean of Jesus blood. After, the Jews replied by saying, His blood be on us and on our children (238). Pilate operated the whole production so the blame would be focused on the Jews and not him. I was very shocked to see such evil works from a man. I didn t know how intense the rivalry between the Jews and Gentiles were, but it was clearly big enough for Pilate to influence a trial, Jesus trial, for his own selfish, ... Viral marketing can encourage customers to communicate with each other in order to offer product or brand under consideration. Viral marketing concept, which was first used by Steve Jurvetson and Tim Draper, is defined as a word of mouth marketing technique used in relation to a brand, product or service similar to the spread of viruses on social networks on electronic media (Comet, 2006; Dahan, 2012; cited in Akyol, 2013). In conclusion, viral marketing can be defined as a word of mouth marketing technique that use internet as a social networks media to spread information related to our products or brands. Viral marketing is different with other marketing strategies. The difference is that it has an authentic content that provokes individuals. Individuals share this creative content due to its authenticity on electronic social networks and thus, this content reaches millions of people by being communicated from one individual to another on social networks (Wilson, 2005; cited in Dahan, 2012). • 14. My Bubble Research Paper In the past, I was not the most outgoing of people. I never spoke over others, and I only opened my mouth when asked. I always let others walk over me because I feared confrontation. I lived within my own bubble of safety. As long as I stayed within the boundaries of everything and away from everyone, I convinced myself that this was the most efficient way to live. No problems with anyone else, and no problems within my life. Although the life I lived was very safe, it was also very colorless. This mindset of safety clouded over me and influenced almost all of my choices. I never seemed to muster up the courage to talk to new people and stayed within my circle of friends. I never branched out, I never tried out for sports, or the school musical or anything new because I feared the results would not turn out in my favor. Even food wise, I did not try new things. Growing up in a Filipino household, I was offered a plethora of diverse cultural foods; I however, had a very strict diet of apple slices and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Some of the differences were as follows; Hawkins improvisations were based on his superior knowledge of harmony, Young s were rooted in the blues, Hawkins played with a rhythmic approach that was always closely tied to the beat, and Young s rhythmic conception was much looser, and often untied to the beat. To begin, the time period that Odyssey is a part of is known as Homeric society. Homeric society is a concoction of diverging assortments in various points in history. Because the setting is a combination of different times from several coteries, the story includes many ideas and values particular to each one. In the 8th century BC, the Mediterranean saw a growth in population after the dark age, thus leading to the menagerie that the Ancient Greeks partook in. Once understanding how the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis worked, the experimenters can make predictions on how the light will affect the photosynthesis. For example, a low amount of light will affect the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis because light is essential for those reactions. The question the experimenters asked was, Does having more or less exposure to light cause a faster rate of photosynthesis? The experimenters first had to know that the leaf tissue of a producer contains gas filled intercellular spaces. Since the leaf have these spaces, they float when placed in a solution. When the leaf disks are put into a vacuum pump, the gases leave the intercellular spaces and the liquid fills these spaces. In doing so, the leaf disks sink to the bottom. This is because the liquid have a higher density than the gases that were in those spaces. As oxygen is made by photosynthesis, it diffuses into the intercellular spaces. When there is enough oxygen in the intercellular spaces, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the amount of time the experimenters waited before looking at each petri dish was not exact. Having this could ve caused an experimental error because each petri dish could ve have more or less time under their light amount. A way to fix is to have a timer, so that way each petri dish could have to same time of light exposure. In conclusion, the experimenters learned that the higher amount of light caused more leaf disk to be floating. This is supported by what the experimenters learn in class, because light is used in the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis. Therefore, having more light would have to produce more ... Why be thankful for an insignificant word though? However, thanks, according to Ode to Thanks, can melt iron and snow. This word rings everywhere and brings happiness where otherwise dark, dangerous shadows would take over. In the poem Ode to Thanks, Pablo Neruda gives thanks to the word thanks by describing all of the marvelous things it does for us using figurative language, writing an ode, and using powerful poetic elements and structure. Without gratitude and exchanges of thank you s , our world would be filled with depression and hatred. Neruda express his thanks for thanks in many ways, and one way was figurative language. The speaker used a lot of powerful figurative language to get his point across. In my opinion, the strongest use of figurative language is one that hits you right in the first stanza. It states, Thanks to thanks, / word / that melts / iron and snow. This personification means that saying thanks can break through the toughest and harshest of situations (the iron) and the smallest, softest of situations (the snow). Another use of figurative language can be found in lines 9 14, where it states, Thanks / makes the rounds / from one pair of lips to another, / soft as a bright / feather / and sweet as a petal of sugar.
