Romulus And Remus Research Paper
The Journey of Romulus and Remus Many centuries ago,in the kingdom of Latium there lived a
king named Numitor who was dethroned by his evil brother Amulius who also kidnapped Princess
Silvia(Numitor s daughter) and locked her into the temple of Mars .
Amulius hoped that Princess Silvia wouldn t give birth to any child/ren who could reclaim the
kingdom/throne.However his plan failed as she married Mars(god of war) and gave birth to twins
Romulus and Remus (1717BC). When the evil king Amulius found out he sent his slave to kill the
twins by throwing them into the sea in a cradle at night time while everyone was asleep.
It was dawn, the babies were still afloat. They had already reached the other side of the kingdom
where a female wolf saw them crying. Even though the wolf generally harm humans, her motherly
instance could not bear it and took them home and raised them as her own. One day when the twins
were running around, a Shepard named Faustulus noticed them, who was shocked of their unique
clothing. He then followed them to the cave and took them away at the night time whilst the wolves

Transtheoretical Model Essay
The Transtheoretical Model of Change, a theory model of behavioral change, which has been the
core for developing successful interventions to promote health behavior change. Some of their key
constructs of the transtheoretical model include concepts from other theories of behavioral change.
The transtheoretical model tries to describe how a person acquires positive behavioror how people
modify a problem behavior. The main core of the theory lies on the Stages of Change, also among
this theory, there are independent variables such as: the processes of change, outcome measures,
temptation scales and the decisional balance. Furthermore, the process of change has ten cognitive
and behavioral activities that facilitate the change. This ten cognitive process is: Conscious raising,

months. Even thought my behavioral change has only started in the past 3 weeks I m confident
that I will be able to complete six months. The contemplation stage was achieved when I decided
to begin my journey to reduce my sedentary behavior. After initiating the contemplation stage I
initiated the preparation stage, in which my schedule was developed and routines were created.
During this stage people tend to take action as soon as possible, usually in witching a month. Once

The Controversial Issue Of Sex Education
In the early 1960 s the controversial issue of sex education started to become a more prevalent
conversation among educators and parents alike when the Food and Drug Administration
approved the sale of oral contraceptives(Szustek, 2009). Though the topic was previously being
discussed as early as mid to late 19th century, it was not deemed completely necessary or an
appropriate topic for school aged children prior to this point. In the United States more than
750,000 girls between the ages of 15 19 experience unexpected pregnancies annually and another
19 million of all newly reported Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) cases are young adults
between the ages of 15 25(Boonstra, 2013). The argument of whether or not sex educationshould be
taught to students is moot since according to a recent survey by National Public Radio about 93%
of adults believe sex education is needed (Anonymous, 2004). The more pressing issue is the
content in which is to be presented to students. There are conflicting groups that argue the validity
of the methods used to convey the importance of the apparently sensitive subject; one side of the
divide are the supporters of abstinence only education which presents a very singular approach and
on the other is those that believe in the importance of comprehensive sex education which explores
a variety methods of sexual safety.
Throughout the years the government funded programs in an attempt to combat the growing issue
of teen pregnancies and the

Genetic Synthesis
Introduction After voluminous amounts of studies, it is known that million years ago, the first
human arose from our beloved ancestor, the Great Ape and just as humans arose, so has the way
research can be approached. Molecular data can be used in modern phylogeny as a form to study
evolutionary biology. This approach is practical because it uses extracted DNAand protein
sequences to do an analysis on the sequence by finding similar sequences to it, in which help in
phylogenetic reconstruction. In this study, two molecular markers were used: 16S rDNA and
mtNCR (control region) to generate common ancestors among both markers. It was crucial to
construct the phylogenetic tree to view the phenotypic evolutionof the Great Apes. Bipedalism is
the primary method locomotion in humans and was the most drastic phenotypic change in the
primate lineage. Larger primates such as, gorilla and orangutan, possess the lateral sequence
locomotion: quadrupedalism. Both types of locomotion s are beneficial in distinctive ways. For
instance, scientist such as Darwin said that bipedalism is advantageous for humans because it freed
the hands of task locomotion and evolved them to tool making (Begun, 2015). Bipedal mammals

Spanish and Aztec Cultural Encounter
On November 8, 1519, Spanish leader, Hernan Cortes landed in modern day Mexico, bringing
along six hundred Spaniards and a lot of native allies. The Aztecs, who were natives in Mexico,
welcomed Cortez with opened arms because they believed he was one of their gods, Quetzalcoatl.
From the beginning, they were willing to share their land and wealth with the Spaniards but they
Spaniards did not want to share this land and began to continue with their plan to conquer the land.
Throughout this two year campaign where the Spanish and Aztecs were fighting for ownership of
the land, and after thousands of people killed, the Spanish conquered the land, seizing the existence
of the Aztec Empire. This cultural encounter changed the lives of both the Aztec and Spaniards
greatly by the change in language, religion, and the benefits this take over had on the Spanish
Empire. Once central Mexico was taken over by the Spaniards, the use of the Aztec language,
Nahuatl, was quickly put to an end. The Spaniards saw that the two different languages kept a
separation between the two cultures and decided to force everyone under the Spanish rule to
speak Spanish. Spanish is still the language spoken in Mexico even after all of the different
attacks and takeovers. The Aztec s did not like this idea of taking away their language. Most of
them were grown adults and had all they had known was

Integrative Approaches To Psychology And Christianity...
Entwistle (2015) discusses the philosophical, historical, and practical approach to integrating
psychology and Christianity in his book, Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity.
The author proposes that psychology and Christianity are ultimately creations of a Sovereign God
designed to give complementary enlightenment to mankind for worshiping God and to care for the
suffering. Integration is defined as ...a multi faceted attempt to discern the underlying truths about
the nature and functioning of human beings from the unique vantage points of psychology (in its
various subdisciplines, utilizing diverse methodologies) and Christianity (in theology, faith, and
practice) (pp. 260 261, italics in original). Psychology discerns truth through empirical means
through the scientific process of hypothesizing and testing. The author describes it as a study of the
book of God s Works . As a discipline, it focuses on methological naturalism, which canonizes only
what may be empirically tested. Theology is the discernment of truth through the interpretation of
God s Word, and of reason. As a discipline, it focuses on the supernatural and morality, how man
ought to live, not simply how man does live.
Psychology as a science, emerged in Europe during the nineteenth century from modernism
philosophy, in a world where science and religious establishment had a history of conflict. Entwistle
notes that the ...rise of science represented a shift in how the world was understood

functionality, or you are looking for an apartment which is conveniently located close to your work

Many apartment complexes have policies limiting the number of pets, the type of pets, and often
restricting the size or breed of dogs. Others do not allow pets at all. Be sure you are aware of your
complex s specific pet policy.
If you do not have a pet and you do not want animals around, it might be refreshing to move into a
complex which does not allow pets. You will not have to worry if the previous tenants dog
scratched a hole in the bedroom carpet or if you next door neighbor s cat might sneak in your front
door when you prop it open to bring in the groceries.
Amenities
Different amenities are important depending upon the person. While one person is concerned with
a dishwasher, another person might be most concerned with the apartment s proximity to the
laundry facility. Another person may care most about the quality of the high speed Internet or what
utilities are included in the rent.
The key to finding your perfect apartment, whether you are staying there for a few months or you
will be there for years, is to balance your priorities. Decide what is most important, and search for

Effects Of Plastic Surgery In South Korea
As long as I can remember, I ve wanted to be someone else, (Swanson 1).
South Korea, known as the world s capital of plastic surgery, is highly image conscious. It is
known that even scoring a job sometimes depends on how attractive you are. South Korea s
major aspects on plastic surgery include how it became so popular, the impact of America s
beauty standards on Koreas, and the reason as to why plastic surgery is so looked upon by both
women and men of all ages. Plastic surgery holds a great extent of meaning to the people of South
Korea.
In 1953, after the Korean War, South Korea was one of the world s poorest nations. The average
household earned less than one hundred dollars a year, so one can only imagine how poverty
stricken the country was, (The 1). At this time, the need to eat and survive came first, appearances,
second. The economy was finally boosted after the win of The 1988 Seoul Olympics. This is when
Korea became what it is today, a high tech industrialized economy, (Forbes 1). As people began to
gain wealth, they soon were able to spend more money on health and beauty. This era became to
be known as the Korean plastic surgery boom. The Korean plastic surgery boom is correlated with
the rapid economic boom that produced present day South Korea, (The 1).
As graduation gifts from their parents, High school age kids would receive plastic surgery. This
could almost be seen as a ritual, before they head out into the real world to face its

Corporate Strategy and Project Management

the management of an international project.
Introduction
This paper draws attention to the detached relationship between the corporate strategy and project

examine how they could be proposed for the management of international project, in particularly for
the construction industry.

Milosevic amp; Srivannaboon (2006) and numerous literature highlighted that the rift between
project management and corporate strategy is causing projects to be poorly managed leading to
frequent project overruns . Ginevri amp; Beraha (2006) further warned about the gap, noting that
corporation are facing an endemic disease, a disease that if developed in organization could arises

The solution: bridging the gap between project to corporate strategy
Relationship between corporate strategy and project should not merely be looked upon as a top
down approach where executive management drives strategy down to project. For project to work,
here must be two way influence between project management and business strategy. Successful
links flow both ways. (Combe 2000). Successfully project is only possible when business strategy

Age Of The Voter Analysis
dominance of religion in states changed women s views from conservative to more liberal,
because states that lowered their religious values faster saw changes in women s voting behaviors
move to the left side much faster than those that took longer (Emmenegger and Manow, 2014).
Age of the voter is a factor that can affect how they vote or who they decide to vote for. There is a
common belief that younger people tend to vote more democratic but studies show that this is not
always what has happened in previous elections(Fisher, 2008). For example, Fisher explains how in
the elections from 1960 through 1976 younger people were the most democratic but in elections
from 1980 through 1992 younger people were the most republican voters (Fisher,

Pablo Escobar Research Paper
Although Pablo was seen as an enemy to the US and the Colombian government he was
recognized as a hero to the poor population of Medellin and this would be a major contributor to
the long lasting success of his cartel. Pablo would constantly promote his Robinhood image to the
poor with generous donations and civic projects such as building youth sports complexes and
housing for the poor. These projects gave him massive popularity among the population and the
people of Medellin would return the favor by serving as look out for him and helping him evade
the police.
Eventually Pablo Escobar s luck ran out. He was tracked down and surrounded by the
Colombian police. The police offered him optimal prison condition if decides to surrender and
Pablo eventually took this deal not long after it was presented. Pison basically became a
luxurious resort for Pablo, it include a jacuzzi, waterfall, football field, and multiple TVs. He also

The Battle Of The Woods Lived A Village Of Warriors
Deep in the woods lived a village of warriors that had long fought to keep their lands clear of the
wolf menace, but to no avail. It seemed to the villagers that there was a stalemate between them,
or perhaps the wolves had grown accustomed to the taste of their blood and were finally bored
with them. The killings became sporadic and less frequent, to the point where eventually the
warrior culture began to deteriorate. The magic that was instilled in every villager was fading,
their innocent blue eyes remained. Without killing, their eyes were never stained with death and
a pair of brown eyes was a rare sight here. Wolves were now just fairy tales told to children to
keep them from straying too far into the woods. Such was the case with the Faraway girl, whom
people simply called Red. She donned a blood red cape wherever she went because it was a
family heirloom handed down to her by her mother. Every Faraway woman for ten generations
had worn the cape and kept it in the most immaculate condition. When they would wear it the
people of the village always called them Red instead of their given name, it was tradition. Some of
the older villagers knew a story of a great warrior who wore a cape like it. They say it was made of
the blood of one thousand wolves, their deaths woven into the magic fabric. This was the same
story that was told to Red when she asked her grandmother why she had one brown eye and one
blue. She told her, One of our ancestors was said to have slain

It is important to look at it because it is a measure that investors can use to evaluate the financial
health of the company. However Liedkte being more conservative he says that the combined
businesses could achieve and EBIT of 9 % and when looking at the projections for Mercury from
2007 2011 we can see a growth in earnings. So then what are the cash flows if Liedtke thinks the
combined businesses will have a revenue growth of 2% in year 2011 considering we discounting
back to 2006. We need to calculate the Free Cash Flow (FCF) in order to determine if the Net

Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge
My summer internship takes place at Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in
Boynton Beach, Florida. This organization focuses on conservation and resource management,
including fire, invasive species, and water management, and protecting indigenous species in
response to increased urbanization around the refuge. As a summer internat the refuge, I will be a
member of the biology team. As such, I will primarily be conducting invasive species surveys
and helping with the removal of Burmese pythons, Nile monitor lizards, and Cuban tree frogs, as
well as some plant species. I will also collect water samples to monitor the quality of the water.
Though I will work mainly with the biology team, I will be educated on all aspects... Show more

Analysis Of Rick Blain And His Internal Conflict
Analysis of Rick Blain and His Internal Conflict From the audience s perspective, Casablanca
(Michael Curtiz, 1942) is a romantic drama. The scene where Rick Blaine, the lead male, is at
the bar after seeing Ilsa Lund, his former lover, is the most dramatic moment in the film. The
audience first sees Rick alone at the bar drinking. Sam walks in the bar and has a powerful
conversation with Rick. The moment that these two characters share is dramatic because the
audience is getting to see a side of Rick that hasn t been seen yet. The audience is used to seeing
Rick as the perfect man. After he sees Ilsa, he breaks down, which is indicated by his heavy
drinking, showing that he has a weakness. The cinematography helps show the dynamic change
in Rick. The shot distance allows the audience to see Rick s facial expressions. Although Rick is
seen as strong and independent, when he is reunited with Ilsa, he is drawn into a darkness that
he is struggling with in the scene; it is easy to see the struggle of man vs. himself and the
concept of masculinity. In this scene we see Rick in a vulnerable state after having seen Ilsa for
the first time in a year. The camera shot is varied from close ups to medium long shots. When a
close up is used the audience can see the emotions on Rick s face more clearly. He is burdened
with memories of the past. This breaks with the idea of masculinity because the audience can
clearly see that Rick is in distress. Men are burdened with social norms that

Essay about Catch 22, by Joseph Heller
Catch 22 is a story about the different personalities that can be involved in a war. Out of all the
different archetypes, the three I ve chosen are John Yossarian, Albert Tappman, and Milo
Minderbinder, although, not in that order. The first character being analyzed is Yossarian, the
unwilling hero of this book. Although the book labels Yossarian
as the main character, he constantly
tries to coward out of going to battle. The second character that will be described is Milo
Minderbinder, the archetypical business person of Catch 22.He runs the camp mess hall and
controls what everyone in the camp is buying, selling, and eating. Milo is constantly trying to
control or manipulate the economies around him, and after he gets a large commission... Show more

It was like seditious and insidious too, and like socialist, suspicious, fascist and Communist. It was
an odious, alien, distasteful name, a name that just did not inspire confidence. It was not at all like
such clean, crisp, honest, American names such as Catchcart, Peckem and Dreedle. (210)
The quote above describes the relationship with Colonel Cathcart, in which Cathcart has a
worrying doubt about Yossarian and his role in the squadron. Yossarian complains to Doc
Daneeka about Colonel Cathcart s dictum regarding the mission count during every visit to the
medical tent. Cathcart s opinion about Yossarian also dawns upon the other men who start to
wonder about the man with that name and who he actually is. One of the main points within the
story is when the soldiers question Yossarian during the death of Lt. Mudd, whom the men
continuously call the dead man in Yossarian s tent (Heller 166). A character that changes
Yossarian completely about war is Snowden. After Snowden s death, Yossarian is given a medal
of honor for fighting through that battle, but unlike the other men, Yossarian shows up in a
disorderly fashion. He realizes that he doesn t want to be in a war like atmosphere anymore and
starts to long for his trips throughout Italy with Milo, Orr, Nately, and a couple of others from the
squadron. It is after these trips that Yossarian tries to weasel his way out of the squadron by
feigning sicknesses and pleading for Doc Daneeka to claim him insane. While

Brave New World Theme Analysis Essay
God isn t compatible with machinery and scientific medicine and universal happiness. So says
Mustapha Mond, the World Controller for Western Europe in Aldous Huxley s novel Brave New
World. In doing so, he highlights a major theme in this story of a Utopian society. Although the
people in this modernized world enjoy no disease, effects of old age, war, poverty, social unrest,
or any other infirmities or discomforts, Huxley asks is the price they pay really worth the benefits?
This novel shows that when you must give up religion, high art, true science, and other foundations
of modern life in place of a sort of unending happiness, it is not worth the sacrifice.
True, the citizens of this brave new world do enjoy many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One might be led to believe that this society is a perfect place to live, since all the inhabitants are
eternally happy. There are no wars, pain, or suffering, all definite pluses, yet readers must not judge
too quickly.
Everything comes at a price, and the price that is paid for the new order is sadly high, costing
the Utopians the benefits of high art, true religion, real science, and family life, which all have
been removed to promote stability. Othello s better than those feelies. Of course it isВ…But that
s the price we have to pay for stability. You ve got to choose between happiness and what people
used to call high art. We ve sacrificed the high art. We have the feelies and the scent organ
instead. But they don t mean anything, (Huxley 226) This conversation shows one of the
tradeoffs made. Stories like Othello are inspired by strong emotions, and Utopia has done away
with them. Now, there is nothing to write about, and if something was written along the lines of
Othello it might cause people to think, causing instability. The movies people see are idiotic and
plotless, based solely on sensations. Religion as we know it has been done away with also, as
Mustapha Mond showed by his comments quoted at the beginning of this paper. Religion usually
involves self denial, and that is contrary to everything the new society is based on. With instant

Antigone Rainy River
Personal Law Vs. Written Law
Morals are defined to be the principle of what is right from what is wrong. What defines whether
something is right or wrong is based purely on ones judgment and perspective. Staying true to
personal beliefs and morals can sometimes be problematic to retain when conflicting with the
written law. In Antigoneby Sophocles, Antigone disregards the decree of her uncle Creon, King of
Thebes, which forbids anybody to bury Antigone s brother Polynices who was killed in battle.
Although Polynices is considered a traitor to the land of Thebes, Antigone feels that to respect the
wishes of the gods she must burry him. She faithfully acts upon her morals, even though they
oppose the law. However, in the story On the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that s fine, but you have to put your own precious fluids on the line (O Brien 2). Tim does not
think he should have to fight in a war that he is against. Even though Tim seems to live by his

He works in a slaughterhouse, taking out the blot clots from dead pigs by shooting the carcass

Tim knows that if he does not go to the war he will feel guilty. He will not be able to handle the

The Importance Of Visual Ethnography
The Importance of Visual Ethnography Reading an ethnographic research paper can allow us to
imagine and perceive cultures in a certain perspective that is the author s point of view.
Ethnography is a process of representing knowledge of human lives by collecting data to
experience, interpret and represent human cultures according to the researcher s view. However,
this representation of data is predetermined by the author and is therefore subjective in a way, as
people s emotions are analyzed according to the author s perspective. Moreover, there are certain
aspects of their living style that cannot be expressed in words such as their cultural ceremonies,
describing sounds and arousing certain feelings. There are ways to overcome this limitation of
expression that is to include the use of photography, audio recordings, filmography and performing
a play. This visual representation of data allows us to feel emotionally connected to the cultureas we
interpret it from our own perspective, but this depends on the way the data is recorded. Humans
consume the world visually, and photography is a visual representation of the world. Photographs
allow the informant to observe and analyze the photo in their own perception. Visual images are not
just the means of data collection or illustration of text but as a medium through which new
knowledge and critiques may be created (Chaplin qtd. in Pink, 13). Sometimes it is difficult to
describe certain objects or the surrounding in

Opposing Forces Civil Rights Movement
Opposing forces When looking back on the Sixties, one of the most dominating themes of that
period was the Civil Rights Movement. The quest for civil rights had been started long ago,
when the black man was freed from the bonds of slavery. Over a hundred years later, the
problem of blacks being treated as second class citizens still persisted. What could be done to
correct the present situation? Some, both blacks and whites, believed that non violence was the
only means to achieve civil rights, as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached. Others like Huey
Newton of the Black Panthers believed that violence was the only way. (W. H. Chafe: The
Unfinished Journey, Oxford University Press. 1999, p.316.) And lastly, some agreed with both ways

approach called for a considerable revamping of the present structure within America. More
fundamentally, change had to begin within the black communities themselves. Blacks need to
assert their own influence and control over their neighborhoods, school districts, etc. They need
to be active participants in government, because any federal program conceived with black
people in mind is doomed if blacks do not control it. Obviously, blacks knew what was happening
in their communities. They knew what the problems were and what issues needed to be
addressed. Without direct involvement of black people in the decision making process, the black
man s problems could and would not be completely solved. The militancy evident in Black Power
emanates from the strong, unwavering quest to redefine black culture and make change, or, as
Carmichael phrased it, take care of business . . . by whatever means necessary. The fact that the
black man would no longer put up with white racist attacks was quintessential. Carmichael
proclaimed, Black people should and must fight back . . . White people must be made to
understand that they must stop messing with black people, or the blacks will fight back! All too

Explication of Sonnet 144 Essay
Explication of a Sonnet Sonnet 144 In explication of sonnet 144 I would like to take a drastic
change from what seems to be the common view of many in regards to who it is written about
and the story behind it. I would like to state first of all that the straight facts about the sonnets are
so few and that theories and debates are many. Doubt is cast over nearly every aspect of these
sonnets. Arguments from when they were written, whom they were written to, why they were
written, and even in many cases the question of who wrote them. The common thought of whom
they were written to and why they were written has evolved as of late to reach a view of

One of these headmasters was Simon Hunt, who left Stratford and became a Jesuit, eventually
rising to the office of Grand Penitentiary (Mabillard). Shakespeare would have been raised among
very theological and religious teachings while learning his literary skills. Shakespeare s literary
approach in this sonnet may be more that of a spiritual abstract than that of a plain forward love
triangle. By viewing Shakespeare s sonnet 144 with a bias religiosity we can view an
interpretation that creates a picture of human struggle that is very much apparent in many of
Shakespeare s plays. The use of the terms spirits ( Line 2) and angels (Line 3) as they suggest
(Line 2) or as they council and tempt him echo the spiritual conflict present in the Christian
Bible. As the Apostle Paul writes in his letter to the Galatians, For the flesh lusteth against the
Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye
cannot do the things that ye would (Holy Bible Galatians 5:17). Here personifying the nature of
the Spirit and the nature of the Flesh , Paul displays an idea of conflicting natures that is also
present in his letter to the church in Rome saying this; When I want to do good, evil is right
there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God s law; but I see another law at work in the
members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of

Religion as a Conservative Force Essay
Religion as a Conservative Force Describing Religion as a Conservative Force seems to imply
that Religion is an inhibitor of social change and used as a means by which to maintain the
existing order of Society and the Status Quo. Some Sociologists such as Durkheim and Marx
would agree with this and there are others who would argue against such a claim. It is a debate,
one side says Religion inhibits change and the other says it sets social change in motion. As already

Anthropologists have also criticised Durkheim for describing Totemism as being a religion and
finally Durkheim is only tentative on how this relationship between Society and Religion works.
Marx agreed with Durkheim in that Religion inhibits social change but for very different
reasons. Marx s view is that religion is a form of idealogical control. It provides people with a
sense of False Class Consciousness with such religious ideas as Blessed are the meek for they
will inherit the Earth , it gives the working class the idea that they will be rewarded in Heaven
therefore they never become fully class conscious which means they never question their status
which means they never form a revolution against Capitalism. Religion is the means by which it
ensures that Capitalism continues to strive. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature...it is
the opiate of the masses . Some evidence to support Marx s view are for example; The Indian
caste system which is fully justified in Hindu beliefs and in Medieval Europe Kings and Queens
ruled by Divine right. However despite this evidence it can still be argued that Religion is much
more than a set of beliefs and practices which develop in a Capitalist society. For example, whilst
Russia was still the USSR the number of Baptisms which occurred remained high. Surely this acts
as evidence that religion is not just a

Significant change has been detected in the Canaan Valley area with high accuracies. There was
a serious wetland loss from 56.17% in 1993 to 28.57% in 2002 in Canaan Valley area due to the
dramatically decrease in forested/ shrub wetland. The remaining total wetland area was
estimated only 8814.606 acres by 2002, which was about half of wetland in 1993. The dominant
wetland type was still forested/shrub wetland. Emergent wetland occupied a small amount with

Intestones Research Paper
A rumbling, growling stomach can be a source of embarrassment. Borborygmi sounds seem much
louder to those experiencing the sounds. However, most of these noises are inaudible. When
awake, intestines rhythmically move as the walls contract and relax to mix food with fluids and
move it gently along. The occasional peristaltic wave may be heard as intestinal contents are
moved. This is what causes us to hear stomach noises.
Borborygmus, a rumbling or gurgling noise made by the movement of fluid and gas in the
intestines, is a normal phenomenon that can happen to anyone, anywhere (Dictionary.com, and
Hofmeister). Within the intestines, ingested fluids and solids are combined with about eight
liters of enzyme rich fluid (IFFGD). Fluid moving through a tube is silent (IFFGD). It is only
when there is air that it is audible (IFFGD). In the intestine gases come from swallowed air and
the release of hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and some other gases by the bacterial evaporation of
undigested food in the lower gut (IFFGD). Even when inaudible to the owner, sounds may be
heard by a doctor using a stethoscope (IFFGD). While the movement of fluids and gases occurs at
all levels, the most audible sounds come from the stomach (IFFGD). ... Show more content on

One notable energy source is biofuel. Biofuel is made from agricultural efforts. While this seems
like a win/win for the energy industry, and the agricultural industry, it s detrimental to the water
industry. How? If you take a step back, you will see that the demand for fresh irrigation water is
increased, so is the increase for pesticides and fertilizers. With unsustainable irrigation practices,
water run off, the lack of watershed management programs, and unpredictable climate changes and
weather patterns, surface and ground waters are more susceptible to pollution and contamination.
This is a reality that Lake Okeechobee knows all too well right now. Back pumping from sugar

of aversive stimuli. It is seen that aversive stimuli are being used in everyday classroom settings.
In these settings the instructional demands may be more frequent aversive stimuli and a range of

Either tourists are searching a flight deal or seeking a hotel for evening accommodation, today,
they are checking out online reviews before making decision. Thus it s no surprise that tourism
providers are keen to post fake ratings on travel websites. Some are even willing to pay for the
inauthentic testimonials to catch people s fancy and preference. As one of the hottest issue in
tourism industry, tourism review manipulation on social media are becoming an increasingly
serious concern among tourists. Especially, the operator and supplier have the ability to manipulate
the review and rate without the appearance of manipulation. Even worse, the issue has generated
some ripple effects rapidly and jeopardise both travellers and tourism providers. Therefore, the
essay is going to provide an overview of this contemporary issue and the current situation, and
further illustrate the relevance between this and other contemporary problems like credit crisis in
social media and review sites. Furthermore, through researching and analysing a number of real life
examples, it will reveal the primary causes behind the issue. More importantly, the essay dedicates
to find effective solutions to stop the problem and its influences from getting worse after
conducting a comprehensive analysis. Last but not least, an integrated conclusion regarding the
significant arguments and reflection of the contemporary issue, as well as the implications for the
future review website will

Good Times and The Jeffersons
Good Times and The Jefferson s are well known sitcoms that premiered in the 1970s focusing on
African American families living in poverty, while offering a comedic twist. The 1970s was in
the heart of the civil rights movement, and these shows were based on the lives of blacks during
this time (Deane, 2004). Both shows aired during the same timeframe, and it was evident that
Good Times and The Jefferson s aligned with the traditional stigma that society had of African
Americans (there were often offensive stereotypical aspects present, such as mammy and sambo
characters). When assessing character, Good Times cast starred Esther Rolles as the mother
Florida Evans, John Amos as the father James Evans, comedian Jimmie Walker who played the
oldest son James Evans Jr. (JJ), Ralph Carter who played the youngest son Michael Evans, and
Anderson Bern Nadette Stanis as daughter Thelma Evans (Deane, 2004). Florida was portrayed
to be a hard working individual who just wanted to see the best happen for her family. She had
high hopes, as every mother does, of getting out of the ghetto and living not the life of luxury, but
one where they wouldn t have to face compromising their wants and needs. James Evans was the
primary breadwinner, and he aided Florida when necessary as the disciplinarian. Their teamwork
exemplified the true meaning of a two parent household. The children James Evans Jr. (JJ) Michael
Evans, and Thelma Evans, are your typical sibling trio. JJ was the comedian of the

Tesco is an international or global business. Tesco is very successful as it is a global business.
Tesco sells food as their main product but they have recently invested their money and started
selling clothes as well as electronics. Tesco will use the different types of capital to help them with
methods which affect them in either being successful or unsuccessful. Tesco would rely on Human,
Social, Financial and Physical capitalas it helps to ensure their business runs efficiently on a day to

This affects Tesco because the amount of human s capital increases as they train staff who doesn t
have much experience, so way once they have trained they will perform well for the company
which leads to positive reputation. This is a type of investment in human capital which will benefit
the employees as well the performance to the company.
Having full time staff creates a huge advantage for Tesco because full time staff tend to be more
experienced at the job which will help Tesco to become successful. Full time staff can share their
ideas, skills and knowledge (human capital) with the new employees who need training. The
advantages of human capital are they would be able to apply their skills and knowledge when they
are at work to complete given tasks throughout their day to day business. Also this means that they
don t have to pay external companies to help them train staff, this leads the company saving money
as they train staff

Political Ideology
The Democratic and the Republican parties dominate American politics. They are both different in
their philosophies and ideals. Political parties win elections, operate the government, and determine
public policy. They compete with each other for support of the voters over issues that have to do
with the economy, national security and individual liberties. Political parties determine and make
the important choices that affect our everyday lives. Democratic is liberal and left leaning, the
symbol is a donkey and the representing color is blue. Republican is conservative and right leaning,
the symbol is an elephant and the representing color is red. The three political topics that stick out
to me the most are abortion, gun control, and gay rights/marriage. The Democratic Party was
founded on March 3rd, 1828. The founders of liberal democrats are Thomas Jefferson and James
Madison. They became recognized in the mid nineteenth century. Some popular current democrats
would be President Barack Hussein Obama, former senator and secretary of state Hillary Clinton,
and former president Bill Clinton. The word is a Greek origin meaning ruled by the people. Slave
activists founded Republicans on March 4th, 1854. Some popular republicans today are Ted Cruz
(senator), Orrin Grant Hatch, and John Boehner speaker of the house of reps. The word Republican
originates from the middle French meaning belonging to a republic. One

The Place Where Your Real Life
This is the place where your real life begins, where you get real life experiences like you ll never
get anywhere else as you become an adult. It s known as college, while it s a nightmare and
displeasure to the thoughts of some potential high school graduates it is others safe haven for a
prosperous future. Yet many people forget that while you are looking for a place in collegeto call
your own, many colleges are just as selective in their student body. To choose a college that is
everything you ve ever dreamed of that can build your life like no other place in the world is a
beautiful moment, but then there comes the task of getting accepted. To these college boards, there
are specific criteria elements that the school board is looking at in terms of their academic
population. The first challenge is figuring out what a universitywants in any of their students; then
the question is how will you be able to show the administrators that you not only can use those
requirements to help yourself, but their student body as well. Each individual must look at
themselves to see just what they can best use about themselves and how to apply that in real life.
My most contributing factors to add to the college s community my academic interests,
extracurricular activities, and life experiences. Initially, the attribute that will help me enhance the
college s community as a whole is my personal academic interests. In any college when it comes to
academics it is the sole reason

Inclusive Education in South Africa
The Zulu tribe of South Africa is the largest ethnic group in the country and its language is the most
frequently used of all in South Africa. (Hamlett) The tribe was first discovered when Portugal
settled the land, and since then the tribe and its relationships with the colonists is anything but
peaceful, and to this day there still is tension. Maybe because of this, the education system
throughout the 1900 s refused to allow for the teaching of African culture other than stereotypes and
other inaccurate information that the colonists approved. The Zulu tribe s lack of education and the
use of non native languages in school paired with its relationship toward further discrimination later
in life is an indication that not teaching indigenous culture leads to real world discrimination. South
Africawas segregated until 1994 and therefore is not the epitome of racial tolerance, but it is the
treatment of education of their indigenous tribe the Zulu that shows that education controlled by
one culture will lead to further segregation and worse conditions for the races out of the loop. Now,
the last four presidents of South Africa were black and the current one is Zulu but even with
influence in the highest office the tribe is unable to find work or make a life that is comparable to
their white counterparts. The discrimination of education has led to longer consequences than the
segregation and disenfranchisement because now there are generations of natives unable to compete

  • 5. The Controversial Issue Of Sex Education In the early 1960 s the controversial issue of sex education started to become a more prevalent conversation among educators and parents alike when the Food and Drug Administration approved the sale of oral contraceptives(Szustek, 2009). Though the topic was previously being discussed as early as mid to late 19th century, it was not deemed completely necessary or an appropriate topic for school aged children prior to this point. In the United States more than 750,000 girls between the ages of 15 19 experience unexpected pregnancies annually and another 19 million of all newly reported Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) cases are young adults between the ages of 15 25(Boonstra, 2013). The argument of whether or not sex educationshould be taught to students is moot since according to a recent survey by National Public Radio about 93% of adults believe sex education is needed (Anonymous, 2004). The more pressing issue is the content in which is to be presented to students. There are conflicting groups that argue the validity of the methods used to convey the importance of the apparently sensitive subject; one side of the divide are the supporters of abstinence only education which presents a very singular approach and on the other is those that believe in the importance of comprehensive sex education which explores a variety methods of sexual safety. • 7. Genetic Synthesis Introduction After voluminous amounts of studies, it is known that million years ago, the first human arose from our beloved ancestor, the Great Ape and just as humans arose, so has the way research can be approached. Molecular data can be used in modern phylogeny as a form to study evolutionary biology. This approach is practical because it uses extracted DNAand protein sequences to do an analysis on the sequence by finding similar sequences to it, in which help in phylogenetic reconstruction. In this study, two molecular markers were used: 16S rDNA and mtNCR (control region) to generate common ancestors among both markers. It was crucial to construct the phylogenetic tree to view the phenotypic evolutionof the Great Apes. Bipedalism is the primary method locomotion in humans and was the most drastic phenotypic change in the primate lineage. Larger primates such as, gorilla and orangutan, possess the lateral sequence locomotion: quadrupedalism. Both types of locomotion s are beneficial in distinctive ways. For instance, scientist such as Darwin said that bipedalism is advantageous for humans because it freed the hands of task locomotion and evolved them to tool making (Begun, 2015). Bipedal mammals also have the ability to carry nutrition and their infants,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. Spanish And Aztec Cultural Encounter Reagan Black HIST 1312 02 Dr. Christopher Richmann April 10, 2016 Spanish and Aztec Cultural Encounter On November 8, 1519, Spanish leader, Hernan Cortes landed in modern day Mexico, bringing along six hundred Spaniards and a lot of native allies. The Aztecs, who were natives in Mexico, welcomed Cortez with opened arms because they believed he was one of their gods, Quetzalcoatl. From the beginning, they were willing to share their land and wealth with the Spaniards but they Spaniards did not want to share this land and began to continue with their plan to conquer the land. Throughout this two year campaign where the Spanish and Aztecs were fighting for ownership of the land, and after thousands of people killed, the Spanish conquered the land, seizing the existence of the Aztec Empire. This cultural encounter changed the lives of both the Aztec and Spaniards greatly by the change in language, religion, and the benefits this take over had on the Spanish Empire. Once central Mexico was taken over by the Spaniards, the use of the Aztec language, Nahuatl, was quickly put to an end. The Spaniards saw that the two different languages kept a separation between the two cultures and decided to force everyone under the Spanish rule to speak Spanish. Spanish is still the language spoken in Mexico even after all of the different attacks and takeovers. The Aztec s did not like this idea of taking away their language. Entwistle (2015) discusses the philosophical, historical, and practical approach to integrating psychology and Christianity in his book, Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity. The author proposes that psychology and Christianity are ultimately creations of a Sovereign God designed to give complementary enlightenment to mankind for worshiping God and to care for the suffering. Integration is defined as ...a multi faceted attempt to discern the underlying truths about the nature and functioning of human beings from the unique vantage points of psychology (in its various subdisciplines, utilizing diverse methodologies) and Christianity (in theology, faith, and practice) (pp. 260 261, italics in original). Psychology discerns truth through empirical means through the scientific process of hypothesizing and testing. The author describes it as a study of the book of God s Works . As a discipline, it focuses on methological naturalism, which canonizes only what may be empirically tested. Theology is the discernment of truth through the interpretation of God s Word, and of reason. As a discipline, it focuses on the supernatural and morality, how man ought to live, not simply how man does live. South Korea, known as the world s capital of plastic surgery, is highly image conscious. It is known that even scoring a job sometimes depends on how attractive you are. South Korea s major aspects on plastic surgery include how it became so popular, the impact of America s beauty standards on Koreas, and the reason as to why plastic surgery is so looked upon by both women and men of all ages. Plastic surgery holds a great extent of meaning to the people of South Korea. In 1953, after the Korean War, South Korea was one of the world s poorest nations. The average household earned less than one hundred dollars a year, so one can only imagine how poverty stricken the country was, (The 1). At this time, the need to eat and survive came first, appearances, second. The economy was finally boosted after the win of The 1988 Seoul Olympics. This is when Korea became what it is today, a high tech industrialized economy, (Forbes 1). As people began to gain wealth, they soon were able to spend more money on health and beauty. This era became to be known as the Korean plastic surgery boom. The Korean plastic surgery boom is correlated with the rapid economic boom that produced present day South Korea, (The 1). It seemed to the villagers that there was a stalemate between them, or perhaps the wolves had grown accustomed to the taste of their blood and were finally bored with them. The killings became sporadic and less frequent, to the point where eventually the warrior culture began to deteriorate. The magic that was instilled in every villager was fading, their innocent blue eyes remained. Without killing, their eyes were never stained with death and a pair of brown eyes was a rare sight here. Wolves were now just fairy tales told to children to keep them from straying too far into the woods. Such was the case with the Faraway girl, whom people simply called Red. She donned a blood red cape wherever she went because it was a family heirloom handed down to her by her mother. Every Faraway woman for ten generations had worn the cape and kept it in the most immaculate condition. When they would wear it the people of the village always called them Red instead of their given name, it was tradition. Some of the older villagers knew a story of a great warrior who wore a cape like it. They say it was made of the blood of one thousand wolves, their deaths woven into the magic fabric. Sam walks in the bar and has a powerful conversation with Rick. The moment that these two characters share is dramatic because the audience is getting to see a side of Rick that hasn t been seen yet. The audience is used to seeing Rick as the perfect man. After he sees Ilsa, he breaks down, which is indicated by his heavy drinking, showing that he has a weakness. The cinematography helps show the dynamic change in Rick. The shot distance allows the audience to see Rick s facial expressions. Although Rick is seen as strong and independent, when he is reunited with Ilsa, he is drawn into a darkness that he is struggling with in the scene; it is easy to see the struggle of man vs. himself and the concept of masculinity. In this scene we see Rick in a vulnerable state after having seen Ilsa for the first time in a year. The camera shot is varied from close ups to medium long shots. These unbelievable people are not hesitant when they donate, they just do it without thinking twice. This organization does a fantastic job of helping others, because there are plenty of stories told by people firsthand on camera. It truly does show you how amazing your donations and volunteer work means to these people who have been damaged. These people could have died without the help of all the great donors and volunteers to this foundation. This organization should continue because of all of the great things this organization has done specifically when they help out communities who have been struck with disaster out of nowhere, and bring them back to strong, amazing communities. • 28. The Importance Of Visual Ethnography The Importance of Visual Ethnography Reading an ethnographic research paper can allow us to imagine and perceive cultures in a certain perspective that is the author s point of view. Ethnography is a process of representing knowledge of human lives by collecting data to experience, interpret and represent human cultures according to the researcher s view. However, this representation of data is predetermined by the author and is therefore subjective in a way, as people s emotions are analyzed according to the author s perspective. Moreover, there are certain aspects of their living style that cannot be expressed in words such as their cultural ceremonies, describing sounds and arousing certain feelings. There are ways to overcome this limitation of expression that is to include the use of photography, audio recordings, filmography and performing a play. This visual representation of data allows us to feel emotionally connected to the cultureas we interpret it from our own perspective, but this depends on the way the data is recorded. Humans consume the world visually, and photography is a visual representation of the world. Photographs allow the informant to observe and analyze the photo in their own perception. Visual images are not just the means of data collection or illustration of text but as a medium through which new knowledge and critiques may be created (Chaplin qtd. in Pink, 13). The quest for civil rights had been started long ago, when the black man was freed from the bonds of slavery. Over a hundred years later, the problem of blacks being treated as second class citizens still persisted. What could be done to correct the present situation? Some, both blacks and whites, believed that non violence was the only means to achieve civil rights, as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached. Others like Huey Newton of the Black Panthers believed that violence was the only way. (W. H. Chafe: The Unfinished Journey, Oxford University Press. 1999, p.316.) Principally, Carmichael s approach called for a considerable revamping of the present structure within America. More fundamentally, change had to begin within the black communities themselves. Blacks need to assert their own influence and control over their neighborhoods, school districts, etc. They need to be active participants in government, because any federal program conceived with black people in mind is doomed if blacks do not control it. Obviously, blacks knew what was happening in their communities. They knew what the problems were and what issues needed to be addressed. Without direct involvement of black people in the decision making process, the black man s problems could and would not be completely solved. The militancy evident in Black Power emanates from the strong, unwavering quest to redefine black culture and make change, or, as Carmichael phrased it, take care of business . . . by whatever means necessary. The fact that the black man would no longer put up with white racist attacks was quintessential. Carmichael proclaimed, Black people should and must fight back . . . Explication of Sonnet 144 Essay Explication of a Sonnet Sonnet 144 In explication of sonnet 144 I would like to take a drastic change from what seems to be the common view of many in regards to who it is written about and the story behind it. I would like to state first of all that the straight facts about the sonnets are so few and that theories and debates are many. Doubt is cast over nearly every aspect of these sonnets. Arguments from when they were written, whom they were written to, why they were written, and even in many cases the question of who wrote them. Shakespeare would have been raised among very theological and religious teachings while learning his literary skills. Shakespeare s literary approach in this sonnet may be more that of a spiritual abstract than that of a plain forward love triangle. By viewing Shakespeare s sonnet 144 with a bias religiosity we can view an interpretation that creates a picture of human struggle that is very much apparent in many of Shakespeare s plays. The use of the terms spirits ( Line 2) and angels (Line 3) as they suggest (Line 2) or as they council and tempt him echo the spiritual conflict present in the Christian Bible. As the Apostle Paul writes in his letter to the Galatians, For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would (Holy Bible Galatians 5:17). Here personifying the nature of the Spirit and the nature of the Flesh , Paul displays an idea of conflicting natures that is also present in his letter to the church in Rome saying this; When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of ... It provides people with a sense of False Class Consciousness with such religious ideas as Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the Earth , it gives the working class the idea that they will be rewarded in Heaven therefore they never become fully class conscious which means they never question their status which means they never form a revolution against Capitalism. However, most of these noises are inaudible. When awake, intestines rhythmically move as the walls contract and relax to mix food with fluids and move it gently along. The occasional peristaltic wave may be heard as intestinal contents are moved. This is what causes us to hear stomach noises. Borborygmus, a rumbling or gurgling noise made by the movement of fluid and gas in the intestines, is a normal phenomenon that can happen to anyone, anywhere (Dictionary.com, and Hofmeister). Within the intestines, ingested fluids and solids are combined with about eight liters of enzyme rich fluid (IFFGD). Fluid moving through a tube is silent (IFFGD). It is only when there is air that it is audible (IFFGD). In the intestine gases come from swallowed air and the release of hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and some other gases by the bacterial evaporation of undigested food in the lower gut (IFFGD). The 1970s was in the heart of the civil rights movement, and these shows were based on the lives of blacks during this time (Deane, 2004). Both shows aired during the same timeframe, and it was evident that Good Times and The Jefferson s aligned with the traditional stigma that society had of African Americans (there were often offensive stereotypical aspects present, such as mammy and sambo characters).
