Foucalut s Response To The Big Nurse
The Big Nurse suppresses the patients to fulfill her desires by strictly controlling patients bodies. The
hospital in the novel is a Combine which is an organized and mechanical society. The Big Nurse uses
disciplinary power to control this small society. She watches them at any moment. The patients do not
have their own freedom of activities. In the ward their bodies do not belong to themselves, but belong
to the hospital and the Big Nurse. According to Foucault, the purpose of disciplinary power is to make
docile bodies that don t have their own mind and their own freedom. In Discipline and Punish: The
Birth of the Prison, Foucalut claims that disciplinary power is everywhere and every time which is

In the novel, the patients bodies become objects of the Big Nurse who arranges their bodies in order to
fulfill her own willing. She treats the patients like prisoners. She uses a series of disciplinary power to
arrange the patients bodies. Observation is an important way to the Big Nurse and she uses
hierarchical observation to control patients space strictly. In order to control the patients effectively,
the Big Nurse divides the patients into two different ranks: the Acutes and the Chronics. The patients
in different ranks are not allowed to communicate with each other. Under this condition, the patients
are isolated from one another and they are spied since they wake up every morning. According to the

The Motorcycle Helmet Law Debate Essay
People should not have to wear helmets because non helmet usage dose not cost the government more
money then helmet usage in a crash there is no difference between injuries with a helmet and without
a helmet, and a helmet limits personal freedom. Living in Wisconsin we see see many motorcyclist
ride without helmets many non motorcyclist think that that rider is irresponsible or he has a death wish
and that they are costing them more money in there taxes thats just not true many motorcyclist have
health insurance. Which covers the cost just the same as an auto accident motorcyclists are 45% more
likely to be injured in a cycle accident then other drivers(CDC pg or par. #). That is the name of the

Thats how it works so where dose it end with helmets or the model of year a car you can drive on the
street thats what people have to look out for power is a big thing to possess. People don t remember
who has the power its how they use it. The government likes to use money to convince the people of a
situation the government likes to release reports of motorcyclists are leeches on society with reports
that say that motorcyclists cost the government more money then car drivers and that motorcyclists
don t have health insurance which doesn t make since because motorcyclists make up only 2% of the
vehicles on the road so how could they cost the government more money then other vehicles on the
road that out number cars by so much(CDC pg. Or par. #). Its not possible. The one thing that the
government loves to use is faulty studies in 1992 California inActed a mandatory helmet law which
the CDC states that it reduced 40% of motorcycle accidents after the first year but what the
government did not mention was the fact that California registration for motorcycles of that year
dropped 40% that year so theres the reason for the drop in accidents(California DMV pg or par. #).

The Existence of ADD and ADHD Essay
The Existence of ADD and ADHD
Some of the most common words moving around in the psychiatric circle are attention Deficit;
hyperactivity; Ritalin; ADD, ADHD. These words are being most commonly discussed by most
educators, physicians, psychologists and young parents in the society today. In spite of extensive
advancements in technology which has brought new insights into the brain and learning, there is still a
lacuna in the field of problems faced by children who are unable to remain focused on the task given
to them in the classroom owing to their inability to pay attention.
While the DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th Edition (DSM IV) of
the American Psychiatric Association) put forth a list of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common behavioral indications are that of distractibility or very low attention span to a
particular task; impulsivity or in some cases hyperactivity which are shown through excessive activity
as well as physical restlessness.
According to the 1994 Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th Edition (DSM IV)
of the American Psychiatric Association, the primary behaviors symptomatic of ADHD include
persistent difficulty sustaining attention and concentration, inappropriate activity levels, impulsivity
and distractibility.
Those suffering from ADHD exhibited over a period of six months, six of nine behavior patterns
indicative of problems sustaining attention, organizing around tasks, remembering and completing
assignments or six of nine behaviors indicative of difficulties sitting still, being quiet and waiting
patiently before responding. [Divoky, Schrag. 1975]. These behaviors appear in at least two different
settings (such as at home, in school, in peer group activity), and are usually present in children before
the age of 7, and is considered disruptive to normal function.
Conservative estimate indicate that a percentage of school aged children whose behavior places them

The Second President Of The United States
The third president of the United States, the writer of the Declaration of Independence, the creator of
the University of Virginia, and the Statue of Virginia for religious freedom are all terms that have been
used to describe one of the most influential and devoted people in American history, Thomas
Jefferson. He published many works that expressed his views of how to strengthen government in
America and put power in the hands of the citizens (Wagoner, 2004, pg.19). Throughout my learning
experience, Jefferson has been one of the three presidents, besides Andrew Jackson and Abraham
Lincoln, who I have gained an interest in because of what he accomplished during his presidency and
his advocacy for a better system of government in the premature years of the United States. Jefferson
is important to American history because he immediately made a huge impact on American society by
envisioning the way he wanted to see America operate and what he envisioned is reflected through the
lives of many Americans today including myself. For instance, Jefferson and Education is a book that
was focused on his viewpoint of education, while Jefferson and Nature was about nature. During
Jefferson s lifetime, his views on education and nature have influenced the school system and the
ways Americans rights have been established.
Jefferson was born April 13, 1743 and lived until July 4, 1826. Jefferson was the governor of Virginia
during the Revolutionary War. As governor of Virginia, he wrote

Hamlet, the Melancholy One Essay
Hamlet, the Melancholy One
Shakespeare s tragedy Hamlet features the most famous protagonist in English literature Hamlet.
Inseparable from his character is the melancholy which permanently afflicted him. This essay
concerns itself with this aspect of Hamlet.
Harry Levin explains the choices open to the melancholy hero in the General Introduction to The
Riverside Shakespeare:
The explanation of Hamlet, What a piece of work is a man! (II.ii.303), carries an ironic reverberation.
His melancholy gaze looks up and down: skyward toward this brave o erhanging firmament and
earthward toward the grave. Those two portraits which he shows to the Queen illustrate man s

Horatio and Marcellus exit the ghost ridden ramparts of Elsinore intending to enlist the aid of Hamlet.
The prince is dejected by the o erhasty marriage of his mother to his uncle less than two months after
the funeral of Hamlet s father (Gordon 128). There is a post coronation social gathering of the court,
where Claudius insincerely pays tribute to the memory of his deceased brother. Hamlet is present,
dressed in black, the color of mourning, for his deceased father. His first words say that Claudius is A
little more than kin and less than kind, indicating a disapproval of the new king s values. Hamlet s first
soliloquy is quite depressing; it emphasizes the frailty of women an obvious reference to his mother s
hasty and incestuous marriage to her husband s brother:

Almost Famous Outline
Almost Famous: An Outline of Life Almost Famous represents the spirit of the 70s in all its it s all
happening glory. The yearning for true rock n roll and the awkward convergence of the old and new
through music and fashion is clearly highlighted in the film. In trying to emulate the 70s, the Almost
Famous succeeds in making a film that can be considered a coming of age story while also capturing
the essence of the human experience in all stages of life. From William s struggle to be cool to Russell
s quest for something real to Lester s acceptance of his utter uncoolness, the film outlines what I think
are the three broad stages of life: adolescence, midlife crisis and acceptance. The hectic and confusing
world of rock n roll especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film shows that there is no substitute for experience. You can t just get the Cliff s Notes on how to
live in this world and you most certainly can t skip parts of life like you can skip grades. Without
going through life and experiencing all it has to offer as it naturally occurs, you don t grow and mature
in a meaningful and long lasting way. Anita may say that it was her records that set William on the
path to change, but in actuality, William would ve had all those confusing thoughts about being cool
and where he fits in the world regardless of the records she left for him. Change is and growth through
experience is inevitable. We see Russell change from a self loving musician to a person searching for
some meaning and authenticity and finally to a matured adult something he wouldn t have been able to
do had he not gone through his mid life crisis . And as it s last comment on life, Almost Famous shows
that with age age comes a certain sense of confidence in who you are and a comfort in accepting that

The Wild Of The Innocent
Through the Eyes of the Innocent
Whether you ride English or Western saddle we can all agree that the horse contains a special place in
our hearts. The one thing you need to know about horses, says Jim Stitt, is they love to work and
perform. (Fong, Petty. It Was Urban Vs Cowboys in Fight for Animal Rights.) The horse has been
used all throughout history from the Spanish Conquistadors to the Englishman during the American
Revolution. Now horses can be found on race tracks, rodeos, shows, large and small farms, and
slaughter homes. Even though some horse owners claim abuse is nothing more than discipline, and
horse meat is high in protein, low in fat, and helps slaughter homes gain bigger profits and investment
from overseas companies, horse abuse and slaughter should not be taken lightly because it is
inhumane to abuse a horse to the brink of death and claim it is discipline, most slaughter homes are in
insalubrious conditions and environments, and most horse abuse is done inside slaughter homes.
Discipline is no longer discipline when the horse is at the brink of death. The type of abuse depends
on the activities the horses do. Abuse and Discipline are two different things. One is not followed by
the other. Discipline is used to correct and train a horse to not make the same mistake over again.
Abuse is used to torment and torture the horse for no reason until the horse is dead. That quality that
we love is also a quality that allows people to abuse them... They

Duty Honor Country- Douglas Macarthur
Duty, Honor, Country
And through all this welter of change and development, your mission remains fixed, determined,
inviolable: it is to win our wars, this statement embodies Douglas Macarthur s Speech Duty, Honor,
Country . It was given in 1962 in acceptance of the Thayer Award, The Award given... citizen of the
United States, whose outstanding character, ... comparison to the qualities for which West Point
strives, in keeping with its motto Duty, Honor, Country. (AOGUSMA) It has been presented to other
distinguished leaders such as Former Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ronald Regan, all of who
upheld American values and the pillars, Duty, Honor and Country of the US Army. General Douglas
Macarthur was one of four Men to reach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This parallelism is reflected in the speech. The Army creed, Duty, Honor, Country is repeated eight
times. This speech was to a hall of men and woman who also proudly associated themselves with the
US Army. Individually duty, honor, country are strong ideographs, but together they ring true for the
corps. Duffy puts is well, After all duty is what one ordinarily obliged to do; achieving honor for so
doing exemplary performance; but to do this not for personal recognition but for country implies
altruism on who s behalf people might giver their lives. ( 115) This is a great definition of what this
creed means for the cadets. These guidelines are utilized for maximum resonance: The probably of
recalling a repeated word is about twice the probably a unique word. (Perelman 471) However, in this
case the memorability is greater because of previous habit. Duffy Writes, advantage accrues...
whereby thresholds vary inversely with frequency of prior usage...Of all the words uttered at West
Point, Duty, Honor, Country clearly had the advantage for emphasis and resultant memorability. (119)
Macarthur ends each of his main points with the army creed. For the audience, this ties every lesson,
whether it is civilian versus army focus, the history of west point, or the pride in fighting for this
nation into a strong physical application of what a soldier should do. Macarthur takes their training
and puts it into action. Parallelism is also used in explaining the Army

Corner Detection Are Useful for Computer Vision...
Corner detection and its parameters: position, model and orientation are useful for many computer
vision applications, such as object recognition, matching, segmentation, 3D reconstruction, motion
estimation [2, 3, 4, 34.] indexing, retrieval, robot navigation and in our case edge tracking from
geometry design. This need has driven the development of a large number of corner detectors [1, 5, 6,
7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.]. Other methods for corner detection are described in [14, 15]. These detectors
compete with each other in terms of precision localization, accuracy, speed, and information they
provide. Model classification and orientation are the most interest information needed in process of
edge tracking.
For some of these approaches, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Corner strength has been ļ¬rst deļ¬ned by Noble [12] from which a slightly diļ¬€erent version has been
proposed by Harris and Stephen [11]: (1.2)
The role of the parameter k is to remove sensitivity to strong edges.
The Plessey operator uses estimates of the variance of the gradient of an image in a set of overlapping
neighborhoods. This detector, which produced much interest, was extended by including local gray
level invariants based on combinations of Gaussian derivatives [17].
One of the earliest detectors [16], which was based on the Moravec operator, deļ¬nes corners to be
local extrema in the determinant of the Hessian Matix, H=M.
The Kitchen and Rosenfeld operator [5] uses an analysis of the curvature of the grey level variety of
an image. The SUSAN operator [18] uses a form of grey level moment that is designed to detect V
corners, and which is applied to other model of corner.
The earlier Forstner [22] algorithm is easily explained in terms of H (Hessian Matrix). For a more
recently proposed detector [20], it has been shown [21] that under afļ¬ne motion, it is better to use the
smallest eigenvalue of H as the corner strength function.
Recently, George Azzopardi and Nicolai Petkov [36] propose a trainable filter which we call
Combination Of Shifted FIlter REsponses (COSFIRE) and use for keypoint detection and pattern
recognition.

The Role Of National Character And The Political Institutions
During the 1800s, the concept of national character was a subject of development and discussion,
especially in France. Many philosophers had an agreement in general that each nation was/had unique
characteristics, but there are many opinions as to what makes a national character. There was a lot of
focus on the spiritual and physical characteristics and their role in shaping the national traits. These
philosophers had a different perspective on the relationship between the national character and the
political institutions. The concept of national character expanded in its significance in regards to its
importance and complexity from a political standpoint. At the beginning of the 1800s, the national
character idea was viewed as a historical fact and towards the end, it was viewed as a current force of
politics that required some fostering to reforms. This led this idea to moving from the realm of
speculation to a more theoretical realm with a practical applicability. This paper is going to analyzing
the concept of national character from the implications on France in the 1800s and its perspective of
the French philosophers.
A national character is defined as an expression that gives a description of all forms of collective self
perception, conduct as well as collective self perception that are shared by the various individuals
inhabiting a modern nation state1. It demonstrates the issues of psychosocial and cultural homogeneity
with the citizens of each nation

The Denver Museum Of Nature And Science Essay
I visited the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on the 23rd of November. This museum is located
in Denver, Colorado but its history starts in Breckenridge, Colorado. Edwin Carter moved to
Breckenridge in 1868. Edwin Carter s passion for wildlife and science shaped the beginning of a
collection that would change many lives. Edwin began to collect and assemble three displays that
primarily included birds and mammals, butterflies and moths, and crystallized gold. This passion was
for the scientific study of birds and mammals of the Rocky Mountains, which shaped his collection of
Colorado wildlife. Folks from all over this area became increasingly interested. His collection turned
into a display that he sold for $10,000. The idea of the Colorado Museum of Natural History was born
on December 6, 1900. This idea grew until July 1, 1908, when it was open to the public. Ever since
then it has developed into a huge building, preserved many Colorado finds and finds from other
places, added on numerous exhibitions, but most importantly it has housed compelling programs and
experiences for millions of guests and schoolchildren that inspire a passion for exploring and
understanding our natural and cultural world (Museum History, 1). I chose to focus on a specific
artifact in the Egyptian Mummies exhibition of the Museum of Nature and Science. The overall theme
of this exhibition was of course, Egyptian mummies and culture pertaining to their religious beliefs of
the afterlife.

Melissa Morelli Lacroix s A Most Beautiful Deception
Melissa Morelli Lacroix s first book, A Most Beautiful Deception, is compiled of three collections of
multiple poems. Each collection represents a piece of music by a composer: Frederic Chopin, Clara
and Robert Schumann, and Claude Debussy. It is written in a form that reflects the nature (intro, coda,
movements, etc.) of each piece. She wrote in the notes of her book that, the poems quote quite freely
from the composers who have inspired them (Lacroix 105). The touching personality of her poetry
comes from the musical quality and realism of each poem. The story, emotion, and simplicity that is
demonstrated is striking and captivating. Her use of one form of art to create another reflects her
method of interweaving sadness and beauty; instruments and words; death and life; past and present;
musical form and poetic form. The first section of poems is titled Chopin for the Dying , and tells the

The poem is poignant as it causes readers to think of those things that revive melancholy experiences.
Lacroix interweaves the irreplaceable moments of life and the sweet sting of memories (canlit) into a
poem describing the difficulty in acknowledging the departure of a better time. The line breaks that
that occur place emphasis on the words at the beginnings and the ends of lines; an important element
is that every three lines (besides one exception of four), either you , we , or I begin the line. The first
half of the poem speaks of you , I , and we , but the last half is all I . The change from two people to
one is a striking representation of how even though the husband is still alive, he is already gone in the
mind of the wife. She is resigned to being alone now, and finds it unbearable to look at the books/ the
photo albums and flowered shirts (Lacroix 52) because they remind her that the one thing she wants

The Black Arts Movement began in 1965 after the assignation of Malcolm X. Richard Powell explains
in his book Black Art; A cultural History that
those who embraced the Black Power movement often fell into one of two camps: the Revolutionary
Nationalists, who were best represented by the Black Panther Party, and the Cultural Nationalists. The
latter group called for the creation of poetry, novels, visual arts, and theater to reflect pride in black
history and culture. This new emphasis was an affirmation of the autonomy of black artists to create
black art for black people as a means to awaken black consciousness and achieve liberation.

Annexation Of Russia In 1914 Essay
As harmony still permeated throughout Europe this goodwill would eventually falter given the
underlying crises that were about to occur when in 1908 Austria proclaimed the annexation of the
provinces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which it had occupied militarily since 1878. This sudden
appropriation caused a state of severe international tension among the other countries, especially
Serbia in view of the fact that these provinces were mostly Serbian in population. Regrettable this
abrupt annexation triggered a tremendous upheaval and outrage from Serbia whose reaction was of
pure exasperation since they always looked at Bosnia and Herzegovina as an eventual legacy.
Accordingly, because Serbia was for most part a client state of Russia they looked to Russia their ally
for help in the matter despite the reality that Russian Foreign Minister had stealthily consented to the
Austrian move in return for concessions, but they now decided they must protect. In the summer of ...

Human Waste And Body Waste
1. Introduction
As has been asserted in a lot of research, how to handle human waste could be a major issue. Human
waste including food waste and body waste. The human body waste will be focused in this report.
According to GENECO, there are 75 million m3 of human sewage have been creating every year in
Bristol. The human body waste could contaminate water system and lead disease if they haven t been
treat appropriately. As Tearfund and WaterAid(2002) has pointed out, four out of ten people, 2.4
billion, are suffering from the disease caused by the issue of poor sanitation. Therefore, action on
sanitation and re think how to use the human body waste will make work more effective. In order to
address the research question is it possible that human body waste could be use as renewable energy ,
the technology of composting human body waste will be investigated, data and case study will be
analyzed in terms of energy consumption, water use and air pollution, finally, how to make human
body waste as a useful substance and achieve sustainable lifestyle will be answer.

Foucault are two good articles where the concept of bio power has been explored in two different
areas. Haraway focuses on women s choices when it comes to health and technology. She shared the

A perfect example is the Maquilapolis documentary, which reveals the exploitation of Mexican
women. They continued to be treated as objects in industries, essentially forced into labour with the
purpose of making more money. The idea discipline was best captured in the moment where all of the
women mimicked the different movements that they have to do during their work day how they were
observed by others who would complete the job was the most telling. Even though all of these women
were making their voices heard, their bodies were still being disciplined to work for these companies.
The main reason these women stay is because they are single mothers that sadly do not have other job
opportunities. They have a lower economic status due to their class and cannot leave. Although they
receive some benefit is it minimal it keeps them in the industry. It s a cycle that really only benefits the
different capitalist industries. In order to discipline these bodies, specific knowledge is produced for
the purpose of controlling their choices to profit from their work. As it was showed in the
documentary, women are being lied to by these companies that promise them a secure and safe
environment to work in. The documentary is not dated, but it is clear that these issues are happening in

Essay about Joan Of Arc
Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc, first known as Jeanne d Arc, was born in the village of Domremy, in the Champagne
district of northeastern France. She was born on January 6, 1412 and died May 30,1431 at the age of
19. Joan is a French national heroin and a saint of the Roman Catholic Church. She rescued France
from defeat during the Hundred Years War against England. In honor of her victory she is often called
the Maid of Orleans. This is a story of her life.
Joan was not a well educated woman. She had never learned to read or write but was skilled in sewing

now that Joan had unusual powers. Though at the time people thought of such powers as work of the

In April of 1429 Joan and her army set out to rescue Orleans from English control. At first the French

Western film called Duck, You Sucker! , also known as A Fist Full of Dynamite . The leading cast
includes James Coburn and Rod Steiger. The plot is about an Irish I.R.A. member befriending a
common Mexican bandit as they accidentally become involved in The Mexican Revolution in 1913.
The bandit, Juan, wants the Irish revolutionary, named John, to help him rob the bank in Mesa Verde,
but when Juan attempts to rob the bank, he realizes it has been made into a political prison. As Juan
confronts John about the mistake, John confesses that he knew

because he knew the right people. He would put some much fear into people s heart by just being in
his presence because that s how powerful he was.The FBI said that Gotti controlled just about every
pimp, street gang, prostitute, drug dealer, and drug trafficker in Queens. He controlled 50% to 60% of

Joe And Murder Case Brief
Joe
Murder
The most serious offence Joe could be charged with is murder. Murder is the unlawful killing of a
human being under the Queen s Peace with malice afterthought to kill or to cause grievous bodily
harm . Murder is committed by an act or omission. In this case its an omission. An omission occurs
when the defendant had a duty to act and breached that duty. This breach must be the cause of death.
The actus reus for murder is the unlawful killing of another person in the Queen s peace and It must be
satisfied that the defendant s act or omission caused the death of the victim. Karla is not a foetus, she
was not killed in a cause of self defence nor during a time of war. In Miller, the court held that conduct
which consists of failing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the Jury agrees, she would be convicted of manslaughter. To rely on a defense of loss of control, the
defense must show that the defendant s actions and omissions in doing or being a party to the killing
resulted from actual loss of self control the loss of self control had a qualifying trigger and that a
person of the defendant s age and sex with a normal degree of tolerance and self restraint given
defendant s circumstances might have reacted the same way as the defendant. The first issue is of
actual loss of control by the defendant. Unlike the previous law of provocation, loss of control need
not be sudden. This may beget a problem because the longer the delay between the qualifying trigger
and the act of killing, the more difficult it will be to establish actual loss of self control. If the
defendant acted for a a desire for revenge, the defence will not be available. Loss of control can not be
relied upon in cases of sexual infidelity. Although Lou gets up from the floor where she had been
pushed by Mick after a short period, she goes into the kitchen and grabs a knife stabbing Mick
continuously. Lou went to Mick s house to confront him about the death of her sister. It is clear that
she did not kill Mick in a desire for revenge and that she lost control. Secondly, it is the issue of if D s
loss of self control was attributable to D s fear of serious violence from V against D or another person
or in combination to things done and/or said to the victim which constituted circumstances of an
extremely grave character, and caused D to have a justifiable sense of being seriously wronged. In
determining whether a loss of control had a qualifying trigger, D s fear of serious violence is to be
disregarded to the extent that it was caused by a thing which D incited to be done or said for the
purpose of providing an excuse to use violence In essence, what this means is the qualifying

Essay on Life With Spina Bifida
BACKGROUND: Having a chronic physical disability affects many aspects of a person s life beyond
his or her general health (Eiser 1997). Myelomeningocele, the most severe form of spina bifida (SB),
is commonly associated with hydrocephalus, Chiari II malformation, diminished or absent sensation
or motor function in the lower limbs, and impaired bowel and bladder control (S.L. Kinsman 2007).
Many people with SB rely on some form of assistive technology for mobility, such as wheelchairs,
crutches, or orthoses. Regardless of the type of assistive technology used, restricted mobility has been
linked to poor social integration (Blum 1991; Dicianno 2009). People with SB may experience social
disadvantages including reduced opportunities for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In light of the social disadvantages of people with SB, it is not surprising that their social integration
level, an assessment of companionship and willingness to initiate interactions with others, is markedly
reduced compared with their able bodied peers (Dicianno 2009). The reduced social competence and
peer social engagement of people with mobility impairments also have been negatively associated
with quality of life (QOL) (Alriksson Schmidt 2006). Children with SB and hydrocephalus were found
to have a Child Health Related Quality of Life score one full standard deviation below children with
other disabilities. However, if the children had psychosocial and family resources, their QOL scores
were significantly higher than those with SB who lacked resources (Cate 2002). Therefore, it is likely
that the social integration and QOL score discrepancy between able bodied people and people with SB
is likely a secondary effect of their disability resulting from limited positive peer interactions and
social isolation (Dicianno 2009). Exciting advances in immersive technology offer virtual
socialization opportunities that may improve the QOL and social integration of people with
disabilities. Massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPG), social

Overcoming Barriers For The Client During Treatment
It is important for a counselor to proper an action plan to overcome barriers for the client during
treatment. Counseling is not about taking and not taking the proper actions. When a client is having
barriers it is very important for the counselor to identify those barriers and set an action plan to help
client overcome the obstacles. The counselor should identify the principles for a well action plan,
discuss barriers that a client might encounter, outline intervention that will help with the barriers, list
of community resources that will help client if need it and outlined aftercare plan when treatment is

For example, Tammy does not trust on men because in the past she has been cheated and has a trust
issue. She wants to work on her goal to trust on men but she noticed that there will be a lack of time
due to her ability with school and work. Another barrier that a client might interfere is lack of
motivation. For instance, Tammy lost the motivation to date men because she noticed all the men are
liars and they are not real. She has lost her motivation and is not interesting on working on the goal. A
client that is suffering from obesity might have a barrier with poor body image. They do not believe
they can lose weight because they have failed many times. Another barrier is support; the client might
not have the support that is need it. For example the client has social skills issues and does not like to
talk to anyone and only has a support of her counselor. Lastly, a person that is suffering from guilt
does not think they will be able accomplish their goal. For instance, Anna has guilt that her husband
divorces her because she did not fic her personal problems and got in between with her marriage.
Counselor intervention that would help to overcome each barrier The counselor intervention that
would help the client overcome each barrier is helping client plan out their schedule. The counselor

Abortion Pro Life Research Paper
Rose Willis 3 13 15 English Abortion: A Call of Help for Life Abortion was outlawed in the eighteenth
century, and legalized in the nineteenth century. Ever since the Supreme Court legalized abortion,
more than hundreds of abortions are performed daily. Abortion is a constant debate among pro life and
pro choice. Not everybody believes or agrees with the same point of view. People argue pro life or pro
choice, if it is murder or not, however, an abortion ends the pregnancy before giving birth thus ending
the life of a living unborn child. Pro life supporters believe abortion is murdering a child. They
suggest other alternatives for the life of the child. A fetus is living as soon as it is conceived.
Therefore, it is killing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They believe that since it is the woman s body, it is her choice. In the pro choice argument, the group
says it is safer for teens to have an abortion than to give birth because teens are not yet completely
developed to have a baby. Teenage girls are not ready to physically give birth to their child. Their
bodies need to mature before being able to give birth to a baby safely (Durrett, 18). Raising a baby is
too hard for teens because they often are not yet prepared. Teenage girls, still have an education to
finish and a future to plan. They are not financially prepared to have a baby and will rely too much on
parents or guardians. When an abortion has failed or even thought about, there will be hurt. Pro choice
supporters believe unhealthy relationships will occur between mother and child because of being
unwanted. The baby will feel unloved and worthless and that will be key for the relationship going
down the gutter. There will be too much conflict for both of them to handle and this will cause a
terrible life for both the child and mother. They believe there should be no debate over what someone
else should do with their own body. Another difference is whether the fetus is a baby. Pro choice say
the fetus is not a person yet, therefore it is not murder. A baby is a person when it takes its first breath
outside of the womb. When a baby is no longer attached to its mom and living and breathing on its
own is when life begins for the baby. Meaning they do not believe obviously that the fetus is a baby.

Multiculturalism And Media Analysis
While American mainstream media has often been notorious and often ridiculed for being directed
towards specifically white audiences, the rise of populations of color has recently altered the target
audience of media industries. While minorities have made up the population long before, only recently
have industries paid attention to the needs and desires of other non white individuals. Thus, the
panelists featured in Millennials, Multiculturalism and Media: What the Audience Wants /
Convergence expand upon the significance, current methods and improvements needed when
incorporating multiculturalism into American mainstream media.

In order to appeal to such diverse populations and their tastes, several shows that realistically portray
ambicultural lifestyles have begun to air on television networks. In spite of the progress made so far
for diversity in American media, the panelists still determined several areas where media industries
still have yet to change in order to weaken the power of white dominated media whether that be
redefining historical notions regarding race or limiting the amount of white staff within media outlets.
While the panelists featured in the video all share similar beliefs and arguments for appealing to
multicultural audiences, there are also many other scholarly sources and online articles that point out
similar key issues. Despite the focus on Asian American representation within the articles, the same
arguments are made by the panelists because several other minorities have experienced the same

Essay On Civil War Women
Women in the U.S. Civil War
Up until the U.S. Civil war women were focused on making their homes a private and comfortable
place for their families (History.com Staff). However the coming war would push women into the
public eye with lots of women joining volunteer brigades and working as nurses. This was the first
time in American history Women played such an important part in the war effort (History.com Staff).
On July 4, 1861, the women of Maryland wrote a letter to Lieut. Gen. Scott titled An Appeal for
Peace. In this document the women of Maryland, a border state, wanted to maintain the peace between
the north and the south (Women of Maryland). The women of Maryland saw what was on the horizon
and wanted to do everything they could to stop the coming war. When that did not work they threw
themselves into the war effort to help any way they could.
The women of the north, wanting to be more involved, started to set up ladies aid societies that would
gather supplies and distribute them to the soldiers. Many became nurses wanting to help closer to the
front lines. In June 1861 the Federal Government agreed to create the United States Sanitary
Commission. This commission was dedicated to the prevention of disease due to by hygiene or
cooking. The women s effort of the north was astounding with nearly 20,000 women turning out to

Gender And Gender Equality
s
Centuries after another and now the present, the twenty first century still faces a huge issue towards
the acceptance on gender equality. Nonetheless, women are unappreciated in today s society s
workforce. But for Sheryl Sandberg who wrote the article Lean In , believes that any women in the
world could be whoever they want to be. Sandberg inspires many girls of today s generation for being
a successful woman who followed her dreams and not let inequalities and gender roles affect her.
Through Sandberg s hard work, she became the COO of Facebook and eventually became a
billionaire. Her successful story was shared on her essay where she stated encouraging aspects of how
women should be. Such as, leaning in to their careers instead of stepping back to focus on family. In
addition, Sandberg concludes that women shouldn t be afraid of pursuing their ambition because of
the negative views that they may receive or even the fear of failing. In other hand, the author of
Beyond Lean In , Bell Hooks argues that leaning in is maybe not for everyone. Hooks criticizes
Sandberg about her views of how women should be because Hooks thinks that Sandberg did not
consider the women with different backgrounds. Furthermore, Hooks did not ignore the fact that some
women struggles to succeed on the workforce due to their race and social class. Hooks points out a
very legitimate fact because she actually look at different types of women while Sandberg might not
be able to relate to that

The Pros And Cons Of Eating
Kohen looked up at the waitress. She was about their age, maybe a little older, with sandy blond hair
streaked with a purple that matched the plasma flow beneath her. She had striking green eyes that
complemented her flushed cheeks and wore a short black skirt with buttons on the side with a vibrant,
tight red blouse.
Meford ordered a Professor s Regret right off the bat and asked for a menu. Kohen smiled, guess he
wasn t planning to take it easy tonight for there was no stronger drink. The Professor s Regret was a
concoction of various liqueurs and a fizzy tab that makes it feel like drinking bubbly air. It was an

I guess the residents of our fair city still do need a place to unwind and kick back, Kohen replied.
Indeed, and what about that waitress! Whoa, where else in our fair city are you going to find a girl like
that? Mmm, purple hair and revealing attire, Meford said adoringly.
It was true most people inside Minerva did dress what would seem more conservatively, but it was just
more practical attire. The clothes that the waitress was wearing were hard to come by and were part of
the atmosphere of the Solstice. People came here to escape the glowing and humming of the force
fields and the scholastic life they had chosen and cherished.
Half way through their dinner and two Professor s Delights later for Meford, the chandelier doors
opened and entered Bergess and three of her best friends. The four of them were hardly ever seen
apart and were the envy and desire of every patron in Solstice. Eyes of jealous girlfriends and wanting
boyfriends darted back and forth from the door to the company they had come with. Meford being a
little tipsy slapped Kohen on the shoulder and said a little too loud,
She s here man, make your move.
Kohen glanced over to the door where the ladies had arrived only to see them disappear into the crowd
towards the bar. Kohen, not wanting to make a scene, told Meford to lower his voice and play it cool.
Meford apologized and took another bite of his tuber. Kohen took another sip of his beer and slowly
chewed his salad

Making Rule Changes For The Safety Of Our Athletes
As Commissioner of the National Quidditch League, I have come to the conclusion to make rule
changes to insure the safety of our athletes. The NQL is one of the country s most popular and highest
revenue leagues. We have a duty to uphold ethical standards to set a good example for our young fans.
In conversations with doctors, players, owners, and some fans, the league office has decided to enact
some new policy changes. The most important policy changes enacted are that all players must now
where helmets, a new concussion protocol, and players who intentionally target opposing players will
be at risk for fines and suspension. Some may feel that the character of the game is being threatened
by these new rule changes. However, the safety of our athletes is much more important. We are
confident that these new changes will further demonstrate why the NQL is one of our country s most
popular leagues. Lastly, as a league we can no longer claim to display integrity if allow the head
injuries to continue.
The league office has taken various factors into account, as we considered enacting rule changes
designed to reduce head injuries. First and foremost, we engaged in dialogue about whether any rule
changes would threaten the sole of the sport. We came to the conclusion that these rule changes would
not damage the sport, and would only legitimize it further. Secondly, we talked officials from other
leagues regarding their changes in sports. Our league has experienced similar

Preppers Vs Survivalists
Is There Any Such Thing as a Typical Prepper Or Survivalist ? The news media likes the sensational,
and so they splash headlines like Preppers arrested because they were preparing for Martial Law . The
headline was not even close to the truth, but once the toothpaste is out of the tube and all that. Certain
people it seems need to label other people, pigeon hole them if you will, and they typically do this
with those they do not understand. Many also assume a Prepper and a survivalist are one and the
same. You can be a survivalist and a Prepper, or just a Prepper or just a survivalist. They really are
different, but to survive in today s world you will likely have to blend the two, and become one. A
Preppervivalist may be a good name Typically, a survivalist focuses on skills usually wilderness

These words are being most commonly discussed by most educators, physicians, psychologists and young parents in the society today. In spite of extensive advancements in technology which has brought new insights into the brain and learning, there is still a lacuna in the field of problems faced by children who are unable to remain focused on the task given to them in the classroom owing to their inability to pay attention. Those suffering from ADHD exhibited over a period of six months, six of nine behavior patterns indicative of problems sustaining attention, organizing around tasks, remembering and completing assignments or six of nine behaviors indicative of difficulties sitting still, being quiet and waiting patiently before responding. The Second President Of The United States The third president of the United States, the writer of the Declaration of Independence, the creator of the University of Virginia, and the Statue of Virginia for religious freedom are all terms that have been used to describe one of the most influential and devoted people in American history, Thomas Jefferson. He published many works that expressed his views of how to strengthen government in America and put power in the hands of the citizens (Wagoner, 2004, pg.19). Throughout my learning experience, Jefferson has been one of the three presidents, besides Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln, who I have gained an interest in because of what he accomplished during his presidency and his advocacy for a better system of government in the premature years of the United States. Jefferson is important to American history because he immediately made a huge impact on American society by envisioning the way he wanted to see America operate and what he envisioned is reflected through the lives of many Americans today including myself. For instance, Jefferson and Education is a book that was focused on his viewpoint of education, while Jefferson and Nature was about nature. During Jefferson s lifetime, his views on education and nature have influenced the school system and the ways Americans rights have been established. Jefferson was born April 13, 1743 and lived until July 4, 1826. Jefferson was the governor of Virginia during the Revolutionary War. As governor of Virginia, he wrote ... • 10. The Wild Of The Innocent Through the Eyes of the Innocent Whether you ride English or Western saddle we can all agree that the horse contains a special place in our hearts. The one thing you need to know about horses, says Jim Stitt, is they love to work and perform. (Fong, Petty. It Was Urban Vs Cowboys in Fight for Animal Rights.) The horse has been used all throughout history from the Spanish Conquistadors to the Englishman during the American Revolution. Now horses can be found on race tracks, rodeos, shows, large and small farms, and slaughter homes. Even though some horse owners claim abuse is nothing more than discipline, and horse meat is high in protein, low in fat, and helps slaughter homes gain bigger profits and investment from overseas companies, horse abuse and slaughter should not be taken lightly because it is inhumane to abuse a horse to the brink of death and claim it is discipline, most slaughter homes are in insalubrious conditions and environments, and most horse abuse is done inside slaughter homes. Discipline is no longer discipline when the horse is at the brink of death. The type of abuse depends on the activities the horses do. Abuse and Discipline are two different things. One is not followed by the other. Discipline is used to correct and train a horse to not make the same mistake over again. Abuse is used to torment and torture the horse for no reason until the horse is dead. That quality that we love is also a quality that allows people to abuse them... They ... Duffy puts is well, After all duty is what one ordinarily obliged to do; achieving honor for so doing exemplary performance; but to do this not for personal recognition but for country implies altruism on who s behalf people might giver their lives. Corner detection and its parameters: position, model and orientation are useful for many computer vision applications, such as object recognition, matching, segmentation, 3D reconstruction, motion estimation [2, 3, 4, 34.] indexing, retrieval, robot navigation and in our case edge tracking from geometry design. This need has driven the development of a large number of corner detectors [1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.]. Other methods for corner detection are described in [14, 15]. Corner strength has been ļ¬rst deļ¬ned by Noble [12] from which a slightly diļ¬€erent version has been proposed by Harris and Stephen [11]: (1.2) The role of the parameter k is to remove sensitivity to strong edges. The Plessey operator uses estimates of the variance of the gradient of an image in a set of overlapping neighborhoods. This detector, which produced much interest, was extended by including local gray level invariants based on combinations of Gaussian derivatives [17]. One of the earliest detectors [16], which was based on the Moravec operator, deļ¬nes corners to be local extrema in the determinant of the Hessian Matix, H=M. The Kitchen and Rosenfeld operator [5] uses an analysis of the curvature of the grey level variety of an image. The SUSAN operator [18] uses a form of grey level moment that is designed to detect V corners, and which is applied to other model of corner. The earlier Forstner [22] algorithm is easily explained in terms of H (Hessian Matrix). For a more recently proposed detector [20], it has been shown [21] that under afļ¬ne motion, it is better to use the smallest eigenvalue of H as the corner strength function. • 13. The Role Of National Character And The Political Institutions During the 1800s, the concept of national character was a subject of development and discussion, especially in France. Many philosophers had an agreement in general that each nation was/had unique characteristics, but there are many opinions as to what makes a national character. There was a lot of focus on the spiritual and physical characteristics and their role in shaping the national traits. These philosophers had a different perspective on the relationship between the national character and the political institutions. The concept of national character expanded in its significance in regards to its importance and complexity from a political standpoint. At the beginning of the 1800s, the national character idea was viewed as a historical fact and towards the end, it was viewed as a current force of politics that required some fostering to reforms. This led this idea to moving from the realm of speculation to a more theoretical realm with a practical applicability. This paper is going to analyzing the concept of national character from the implications on France in the 1800s and its perspective of the French philosophers. • 14. The Denver Museum Of Nature And Science Essay I visited the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on the 23rd of November. This museum is located in Denver, Colorado but its history starts in Breckenridge, Colorado. Edwin Carter moved to Breckenridge in 1868. Edwin Carter s passion for wildlife and science shaped the beginning of a collection that would change many lives. Edwin began to collect and assemble three displays that primarily included birds and mammals, butterflies and moths, and crystallized gold. This passion was for the scientific study of birds and mammals of the Rocky Mountains, which shaped his collection of Colorado wildlife. Folks from all over this area became increasingly interested. His collection turned into a display that he sold for $10,000. The idea of the Colorado Museum of Natural History was born on December 6, 1900. This idea grew until July 1, 1908, when it was open to the public. Ever since then it has developed into a huge building, preserved many Colorado finds and finds from other places, added on numerous exhibitions, but most importantly it has housed compelling programs and experiences for millions of guests and schoolchildren that inspire a passion for exploring and understanding our natural and cultural world (Museum History, 1). I chose to focus on a specific artifact in the Egyptian Mummies exhibition of the Museum of Nature and Science. The overall theme of this exhibition was of course, Egyptian mummies and culture pertaining to their religious beliefs of the afterlife. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is written in a form that reflects the nature (intro, coda, movements, etc.) of each piece. She wrote in the notes of her book that, the poems quote quite freely from the composers who have inspired them (Lacroix 105). The touching personality of her poetry comes from the musical quality and realism of each poem. The story, emotion, and simplicity that is demonstrated is striking and captivating. This sudden appropriation caused a state of severe international tension among the other countries, especially Serbia in view of the fact that these provinces were mostly Serbian in population. Regrettable this abrupt annexation triggered a tremendous upheaval and outrage from Serbia whose reaction was of pure exasperation since they always looked at Bosnia and Herzegovina as an eventual legacy. Although they receive some benefit is it minimal it keeps them in the industry. It s a cycle that really only benefits the different capitalist industries. In order to discipline these bodies, specific knowledge is produced for the purpose of controlling their choices to profit from their work. As it was showed in the documentary, women are being lied to by these companies that promise them a secure and safe environment to work in. • 24. Joe And Murder Case Brief Joe Murder The most serious offence Joe could be charged with is murder. Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being under the Queen s Peace with malice afterthought to kill or to cause grievous bodily harm . Murder is committed by an act or omission. In this case its an omission. An omission occurs when the defendant had a duty to act and breached that duty. This breach must be the cause of death. The actus reus for murder is the unlawful killing of another person in the Queen s peace and It must be satisfied that the defendant s act or omission caused the death of the victim. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the Jury agrees, she would be convicted of manslaughter. To rely on a defense of loss of control, the defense must show that the defendant s actions and omissions in doing or being a party to the killing resulted from actual loss of self control the loss of self control had a qualifying trigger and that a person of the defendant s age and sex with a normal degree of tolerance and self restraint given defendant s circumstances might have reacted the same way as the defendant. The first issue is of actual loss of control by the defendant. Unlike the previous law of provocation, loss of control need not be sudden. This may beget a problem because the longer the delay between the qualifying trigger and the act of killing, the more difficult it will be to establish actual loss of self control. If the defendant acted for a a desire for revenge, the defence will not be available. Loss of control can not be relied upon in cases of sexual infidelity. Although Lou gets up from the floor where she had been pushed by Mick after a short period, she goes into the kitchen and grabs a knife stabbing Mick continuously. Lou went to Mick s house to confront him about the death of her sister. It is clear that she did not kill Mick in a desire for revenge and that she lost control. Secondly, it is the issue of if D s loss of self control was attributable to D s fear of serious violence from V against D or another person or in combination to things done and/or said to the victim which constituted circumstances of an extremely grave character, and caused D to have a justifiable sense of being seriously wronged. In determining whether a loss of control had a qualifying trigger, D s fear of serious violence is to be disregarded to the extent that it was caused by a thing which D incited to be done or said for the purpose of providing an excuse to use violence In essence, what this means is the qualifying ... Myelomeningocele, the most severe form of spina bifida (SB), is commonly associated with hydrocephalus, Chiari II malformation, diminished or absent sensation or motor function in the lower limbs, and impaired bowel and bladder control (S.L. Kinsman 2007). Many people with SB rely on some form of assistive technology for mobility, such as wheelchairs, crutches, or orthoses. Regardless of the type of assistive technology used, restricted mobility has been linked to poor social integration (Blum 1991; Dicianno 2009). People with SB may experience social disadvantages including reduced opportunities for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In light of the social disadvantages of people with SB, it is not surprising that their social integration level, an assessment of companionship and willingness to initiate interactions with others, is markedly reduced compared with their able bodied peers (Dicianno 2009). The reduced social competence and peer social engagement of people with mobility impairments also have been negatively associated with quality of life (QOL) (Alriksson Schmidt 2006). Children with SB and hydrocephalus were found to have a Child Health Related Quality of Life score one full standard deviation below children with other disabilities. However, if the children had psychosocial and family resources, their QOL scores were significantly higher than those with SB who lacked resources (Cate 2002). Therefore, it is likely that the social integration and QOL score discrepancy between able bodied people and people with SB is likely a secondary effect of their disability resulting from limited positive peer interactions and social isolation (Dicianno 2009). Exciting advances in immersive technology offer virtual socialization opportunities that may improve the QOL and social integration of people with disabilities. Not everybody believes or agrees with the same point of view. People argue pro life or pro choice, if it is murder or not, however, an abortion ends the pregnancy before giving birth thus ending the life of a living unborn child. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They believe that since it is the woman s body, it is her choice. In the pro choice argument, the group says it is safer for teens to have an abortion than to give birth because teens are not yet completely developed to have a baby. Teenage girls are not ready to physically give birth to their child. Their bodies need to mature before being able to give birth to a baby safely (Durrett, 18). Raising a baby is too hard for teens because they often are not yet prepared. Teenage girls, still have an education to finish and a future to plan. They are not financially prepared to have a baby and will rely too much on parents or guardians. When an abortion has failed or even thought about, there will be hurt. Pro choice supporters believe unhealthy relationships will occur between mother and child because of being unwanted. The baby will feel unloved and worthless and that will be key for the relationship going down the gutter. There will be too much conflict for both of them to handle and this will cause a terrible life for both the child and mother. They believe there should be no debate over what someone else should do with their own body. Another difference is whether the fetus is a baby. Pro choice say the fetus is not a person yet, therefore it is not murder. A baby is a person when it takes its first breath outside of the womb. When a baby is no longer attached to its mom and living and breathing on its own is when life begins for the baby. Meaning they do not believe obviously that the fetus is a baby. ...
