Texas Government Power
The state of Texas has grudge against authority. In fact, there s general distrust against the
government. Texas constantly limits the governor s power, which makes him one of the weakest
governors compared to other states. The plural executive system of Texas takes away power from the
Governor. However, this doesn t detain the governor from playing a vital legislative role.
The plural executive branch in Texas limits the Power of the Governor by dividing the responsibilities
he has into various elected officials. In fact, these elected officials do not have to answer to the
Governor, nor do they work together as a cabinet in the way that executive officials serve the U.S.
President. (Texas Politics). This creates a difficult environment to work; sometimes those officials do
not form part of the same political party, which creates conflict. In addition, the governor does not
form part of the decisions happening in the state, which sometimes create a miscommunication
between Texans and the Government. Texans often blame the governor for things out of his control.
(Collier et al 185). To wrap up, the Governor does not carry a lot of responsibilities, which makes him
weaker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The governor can do this by the means of the state of the state address, which means that he can
inform the legislature of the condition of the state at the beginning of each legislative session and at
the end of his term. This can be often used to pass the Governor s own political ideas. The governor
can even use the emergency legislation, which lets the proposed legislation to be moved and be voted
during the first sixty days (171). Governors have no limitation on what is an emergency and it s
decided by their own judgment. This gives the governor power in the legislative

Similarities and Differences Between Jefferson and Jesus...
Similarities and Differences Between Jefferson and Jesus
Based on the book A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines
In the book A Lesson Before Dying, there are multiple hints, clues and symbolism between Jefferson
and Jesus. The author, Ernest Gaines, draws a line between Jefferson and Jesus, but yet he creates his
character to be similar to Jesus in multiple ways. Some ways that Jefferson and Jesus are alike is that
they both die around Easter, but not by their choice. Both Jefferson and Jesus were unjustly convicted
and were not killed out of their own will. The deaths of these two men were both symbolic in many
ways and in some ways seem to be seen as a defeat to society and humanity. It happens second Friday

For Jefferson, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The defense argued that Jefferson was
innocent of all charges except being at the wrong place at the wrong time. (Gaines, 7). For Jesus,
Pontius Pilate asks the crowd he and Jesus were in front of, what they wanted to happen with him.
Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty.
Therefore I will have him punished and then release him. (Luke 23:22). In a way Pilate seems to be
defending Jesus like the defendant in Jefferson s trial, trying to see what the jury wants to happen, also
trying to bail him out; Though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. (Isaiah 53:9)
But this man has done nothing wrong (Luke 23:41). The fact that Mr. Gropé shot only Brother and
Bear was proof of Jefferson s innocence. (Gaines, 7). Both Jesus and Jefferson were recognized as
innocent by some and yet still received a death sentence. In the Old Testament, it was prophesized that
Jesus would have done nothing wrong but still be convicted, as well as Jefferson was convicted for
something he did not do. The death of these two men is symbolic in many ways. First, for Jefferson it
was a defeat for him standing for the blacks showing that they are equal and showing that there is not
a difference between blacks and whites and that they should not be treated as less because he is still
yet a man; I want you to show them that you are as much

Walt Whittman s Song Of Myself
Song of Myself writing In the poem Song Of Myself by Walt Whittman, he emphasizes that we are all
connected as individuals and everyone has their place in the universe, because we are all made of
atoms. The poet claims that For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you (ll.3) Whittman is
trying to describe how everyone in the universe is the same. Whittman saw slavery with his own eyes
and believed it was wrong as no one had the right to own another. This reinforces his belief that we are
all the same, no one can be above another, and we all have a right to this world. Whittman continues

The Russians had protested against a corrupt government and their unfair laws. There were many

Whether Intelligence Can be Defined and Measured...
Whether Intelligence Can be Defined and Measured Accurately or Not
In this essay I will look at whether intelligence can be defined and measured accurately through
looking at various definitions of intelligence; including definitions from Binet, Wechsler, Terman,
Hebbs, Cattel and Vernon. I will discuss a selection of more well known and popular intelligence tests
ranging from Galton to Wechsler, what they measure and what they don t measure. I will look at an
example of a famous person renowned for being intelligent and what there IQ test result would likely
of been, if tested.
Starting with a definition from the oxford dictionary we can then go on to see how varied the

Terman (1921) describes intelligence as a person s ability of abstract thinking (1921, cited in Heim,
1970).
It seems that psychologists find it hard to reach an agreement to define intelligence, resulting in the
final definition I will mention from Vernon (1969) intelligence is what intelligence tests measure
(1969, cited in Howe, 1997).
Although most definitions seem to have a similarity, the meaning of intelligence can vary over time
and through cultures. It was once thought that intelligence was all down to a persons ability with
spelling and arithmetic, whereas in the islands of the south pacific a persons ability to navigate the
oceans and there spatial memory are the way to judge a persons intelligence level (MSN, 2005).
It seems a nomothetic approach is needed to even attempt to measure intelligence. All tests need to be
reliable, correlate with existing test scores and show face, internal and ecological validity (MSN,
2005).
Intelligence tests were developed to predict school children s eventual academic results (MSN, 2005).
In England in the 1880 s Galton made the first attempt at measuring intelligence. Galton s theory was
that a person with a good degree of intelligence would

International Adoption Case Study
Policy Recommendation
Idaho Code, Policy § 16 1514A of International Adoption should make some minor adjustments due to
the decrease in international adoption numbers over the years. This policy should be slightly altered in
the timeline of the international adoption process. It should then be amended or be made available for
other states to adopt into their Statutes or Constitution. Idaho s International Adoption Policy currently
reads When an Idaho resident adopts a child in a foreign country in accordance with the laws of the
foreign country, and such adoption is recognized as full and final by the United States government,
such resident may file for adoption... (Idaho Legislation, 2006). Because it makes no references as to

By explicitly stating the length of time the international adoption process will take, there can be no
argument that the length of time is far too long. This law was successful when first passed, but
because of the slowing systems adoption numbers are being cut in half (www.CNN.com, 2016). By

Central Limit Theorem Essay
The Central Limit Theorem is a statistical theory which states that the shape of a sampling distribution
is approximately normal no matter the shape of the population when graphed. This theory works as
long as the sample size is larger than 30. To go more into depth to explain this theorem, we could take

down how many episodes they watched a week from the beginning of January to the end June. Below

Let s say if I were to keep track of how long I walk my dog if I always take a longer path when I walk
the dog during the morning compared to the late afternoon. Putting this data on a graph, it would look
binomial like the graph I provided below. Yet just like the Grey s Anatomy example, if we take the
means of multiple random samples from the data and plot it on a graph, it would become normal.
Another example where the Central Limit Theorem takes place is if I were to record the pitches that
my two dogs bark at. My first dog, Oreo, has a deep, hearty bark where as my second dog, Mya, has a
high pitched bark. Considering this, if we graphed their barks, there would be a dip in between which
would look similar to the graph right above this paragraph. Yet just like the others, if I was to take
multiple random samples from the data and figured out the means of each, it would look much more
normal and the dip would be gone. Whether it be using Grey s Anatomy watching habits, dog walking
habits, or the pitch of a dog bark, the Central Limit Theorem can turn a binomial graph into a normal
graph. This can be easily done by taking a random sample of over 30 from the data given, taking the
means from each sample, and then plotting them on a graph will give us an approximately normal

Richard would be facing both the alter and the Cardinal, one of the highest religious positions that
there was in front of the holiest of places. One could see this as church and state facing one another
head on. The Cardinal addresses the to be King Richard in a distinct voice if he shall keep the same
ties, laws, and traditions that were kept by the kings before him, especially by Edward the Confessor.
At the time, religion and state were known for their disagreements of power. So using this strong voice
to almost demand for religion s steady position in the country means that the church was determined
to stay in the country of England. The King agrees most likely due to him being in front of all the
people, he cannot object even if he wanted to. Once the Cardinal is convinced of his promise he will
give to him the special articles. This shows that the Church was determined to stay in England if they
were deliberate on whether or not the promise was genuine. The Cardinal then swears in the King that
his power belongs to the Church of God, the clergy and it s people. This is a demand of the King s
power be given to the Church and the people of England, it is almost saying that while we may have a
King he is to serve God and the people first. The King then swears to his power for God. The Cardinal
also speaks of equal and rightful justice with mercy and truth. This means that the King must
understand that he must be fair in his judgements to which he agrees to do. Then there is the point
made about the laws of the worship of God to be strengthened and defended which means that the
King should make a point of keeping church in England. At every point of these promises the King is
left to remember that the church is giving him this power and for him to overall remember to respect
the church for it s help in making him

(Barge Schlueter, 2004, p. 237) describes memorable messages as embedded with assumptions about
who can speak, about what and when, through that medium, and with what intent and these discourses
structure a set of obligations and opportunities for relationships and identities. Knapp states that
memorable messages have three different qualities that make a good memorable message. To start,
(Knapp et al., 1981) states that First, memorable messages often come from someone who is older and
of higher status, Most campaigns will use a spokesperson who is well known to the public; an
example of this is a celebrity putting their name towards a cause. These spokespeople are often the
campaign s biggest supporters both financially and motivational. (Miles A, et. al., 2001) describes that
research into adult interventions shows that those who take part in mass media health campaigns are
women from higher socioeconomic groups who are already engaging in better health practices.
Second, memorable messages are often brief oral injunctions that prescribe rules of conduct for
solving a personal problem, (Knapp et al., 1981). These would be more explicit directives, such as

Characteristics And Processes Of Gravel Bed Rivers
Gravel bed rivers are comprised of sediment particle sizes between 2 64mm, but may also include a
degree of sand as high as 50% (Bunte and Abt 2001). This wide array of particle sizes can affect the
rates of erosion, deposition, and overall morphology of a river. Understanding the rate and likelihood
of these processes is crucial in comprehending contemporary river environments, their behaviour and
surrounding ecology. Detailed characteristics and processes of gravel bed rivers is not well understood
as there are considerable variabilities at the bar, reach and river scales (Rice and Church 2009). In an
attempt to advance understanding of the processes and mechanisms involved, analysis of the sediment
is required. To quantify the size and distribution of sediment in a river, a large sample set is needed in
order to be fully representative of the area surveyed, but this is more complex in gravel bedded rivers
than sand as distribution can be either heterogeneous or homogenous (Bunte and Abt 2001).
Considering this, sampling methods must be chosen appropriately and in accordance of objectives of
the study in order to gain data specific and useful enough to address them. This report aims to address
the characterisation of grain size distribution of both the bar scale and reach scale of the River Ashop,
in the Peak District. To do this, two methods have been utilised: Wolman sampling (1954), and
advanced digital granulometry (Graham et al. 2005). Patterns and distribution

This skewed representation has raised many alarms in outside circles on why the tech industry deals
with such uniformity. In the show Silicon Valley this stereotype of women not being leaders is subtly
perpetuated throughout the series. In episode one we are introduced to two companies that are
competing against each other. The first company is Hooli incorporated which has a male CEO,
looking closely in the boardroom the only gender represented is male, however the only females
present in the office are the female secretaries. The same uniformity is present in the competing firm,
male CEO, male president, male board members, and female secretary. Throughout the entire first
season not one woman holds a position in leadership, and when we are introduced to a female
character she usually holds a position working as an assistant to one of the male characters. Silicon
Valley deals with the issue of not injecting women into higher power position, unfortunately many of
these stereotypes are found in many industries around the world. The portrayal of women as being
incapable of being good leaders leads to a male dominated managerial system. A study conducted by
the Wall Street Journal finds that Only ten percent of directors at Silicon Valley are women. (Wells 2)
this glass ceiling keeps women from reaching position that they are fully qualified for, just because

How Did The Enlightenment Created The American Political...
Primarily, the philosophes of Enlightenment almost singly designed the American political system. By
the early 1700s, the Western world had grown tired of the Machiavellian absolutism that dominated all
political systems. With inherent corruption in French leadership, apathy towards citizens in Great
Britain, and constant instability in Central Europe, absolutism left much to be desired. For the
American colonies , the Enlightenment disrupted this predictable path of government through its
development of republicanism, the guiding ideology which stressed liberty and inalienable rights of
citizens. As a philosophy, republicanism was a radical departure from European norms on
government, yet politicians and citizens heralded it as a significantly more egalitarian alternative to ...

menarche and boys reactions to spermarche during puberty. What factors influence the way
adolescents respond? Describe the impact of puberty on parent c hild interaction and the adaptive
value of this change in adolescents relationships with their parents.
During Adolescence children are transitioning into adulthood. At this time, both boys and girls are
experiencing hormonal changes. Both sexes react differently to these changes. Girls begin menarche
typically between the ages of twelve and thirteen years of age. At this time girls are mostly informed,
however girls still feel that they are not prepared and find themselves in a state of surprise when

prepared for their change and transition much easier than their Caucasian classmates. Girls tend to tell
their friends that they are menstruating; therefore they are more apt to get the support of others
through this change (Berk, 2014, p. 368). Boys become sexually mature between the ages of eleven

Biblical Scripture On Christian Faith
Scripture
Introduction
Scripture is fundamental to Christian faith, but who gives it authority? What makes it fundamental.
Beyond these questions, you may wonder if it is historical accurate or if science disproves scripture. If
you decide that scripture stands the test of history and science, you may wonder if the words are
literal, contextual, or an allegory. These are questions that Christians may have to wrestle with
throughout their lives. Luckily, today s Christians are not the first to ponder such questions and can
turn to scholars and other sources of information to help inform their decisions on the issues.
Basis of Scripture
The meaning and authority of scripture can vary depending on who you are. You can focus on God as

There are many views it comes to scripture and science. You can see scripture as having science, but
being limited to the time period. Others can say scripture is correct and that you need to believe it
(have faith in it), even if modern science disproves it. The stereotypical worldview is that science
explains it all and religion is outdated. A merging view would try to merge the two together and say
science helps explain how God designed and created the world. Scripture can be reconciled with
Science using the last view. For example, you could say the Big Bang is the reaction you would expect
from God saying let there be light or that God made us adaptable (evolution) because He knew the
world would be changing. When you view science through the lens of religion, you can come up with
many theories on how the two are not mutually exclusion. The reverse has also happened. The world,
humans, and the brain are very complex. When studying these structures, it can lead one to believe
that they could not happen by accident, but rather by intelligent design. The limit to intelligent design
is it does not point to who the designer is. Scriptures can help point to the designer.
Interpreting Scipture
It is both good and bad that almost anyone (at least in America) can interpret scripture. It is good
because we each bring unique views, backgrounds, and thoughts into the reading of scripture and this

It s a brass artwork made using a process called wax casting which involves creating molds into the

A close examination of this piece concluded that this artwork is a form of propaganda; which serves
the purpose of showing the power, prestige and authority of a figure. The artist purposefully made the

families exist because it gives us humans identity in both a physical and figurative way. Our name is
what we gain from our family. We also inherit the expectations of the family. But, over time we
become our identity and that is the figurative. I could give you a list of names that you have heard of
and that identity is connected to past events or the personality of the person, but to you now, the name
is a personification of that personality or the way you felt in past events. This is the reality of names,
and the way we perceive each other. Thusly, Ezinma form Chinua Achebe s, Things Fall Apart,
represents more than just her name. She represents, resilience, strength, relief, and comradery.
The mother of Ezinma, her name was Ekwefi, had been visited by monumental tragedy. Ekwefi could
not bear a child, until Ezinma. Ekwefi bore a total of ten children with nine dying in stages of infancy.
It is quite evident that Ekwefi had become a very bitter woman, the naming of her children were the
biggest hint. Their names began receiving more sinister meanings. Ezinma was the first to survive into
her childhood. She survived through spells of illness due to her being deemed as a ogbanje, which is a
type of spirit that inhabits babies and dies to torture the mother. However, Ezinma seemed determined
to live and was able to be cleared of her ogbanje title. Through this, her and her mother developed an
interesting relationship. Ezinma and Ekwefi were more than mother and daughter, There was
something in it like the companionship of equals... (76 Achebe). This is a special relationship that is
very uncommon and creates a unique personality for Ezinma. Moreover, we see this in modern times
as well, as Kwame Anthony Appiah describes in his novel, Cosmopolitanism, Sometimes, familiar
values are intertwined with unfamiliar customs and arrangements. People everywhere have ideas
about your responsibility to your children (47 Appiah). As Appiah states, that the sense of
responsibility to your children differ among cultures and life styles. For instance, Appiah grew up in
two different societies and had two different styles

Shakespeare s King Lear Appearances
In Shakespeare s King Lear appearances are not always reflective of reality. While in many scenes
throughout the play characters are disguised, their identities concealed behind a physical shroud, the
theme of appearances versus reality runs much deeper, making the lines between love and hate,
foolishness and wisdom, and cruelty and innocence ambiguous to both the characters and the
audience. As the play progresses, a veil of ignorance seems lift, elucidating the truth of each matter to
the characters and to the audience. As the curtain rises, appearances immediately rush in to cloud the
truth. In the very first scene of the play King Lear announces he will divide his Kingdom amongst his
daughters, awarding portions of the land based upon their professions of love unto him. First to speak
is the eldest, Goneril, and what she says seems to Lear an honest statement of adoration:
Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter,
Dearer than eyesight, space, and liberty,
Beyond what can be valued, rich or rare,
No less than life, with grace, health, beauty, honor;
As much as child e er loved, or father found;
A love that makes breath poor, and speech unable.
Beyond all manner of so much I love you.
(1:1 60 67)
While by all appearances her words do portray an image of strong filial affection, her feelings, the
audience later discovers, are masked by a veil of greed. In her protestation, Goneril says that her
feelings of love are Beyond what can be valued, however, the true

The Negro Speaks Of Rivers Essay
Slavery has influenced how people of African descent went forth and lived life. In the poem The
Negro Speaks of Rivers , Langston Hughes tells a story of the black man s journey to America while
trying to hold on to his past. Hughes uses imagery and tone to create a picture that illustrated racial
pride and dignity. Phillis Wheatley, On Being Brought from Africa to America describes the positivity
of being an American slave and the perks of Christianity. The major theme that runs throughout these
two poems are how someone views their own race. Though each poem is set around the same time
period, we can see two different effects of slavery and it could change in an person. Wheatley s On
Being Brought from Africa to America has a lot of literary devices within it and reading it out loud
really helps you find them. There is some end rhyme like eye die ; land understand ; and cain train .
Lines 7 and 8 shows a heroic couplet; Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain,/ May be refin d,
and join th angelic train. Another big literary device that could not be overlooked is personification. In
the first line of the poem, the speaker personifies mercy . The speaker is using the term mercy in a
biblical notion and in that sense mercy could not have physically picked the speaker up and carry him
or her over to America. In Langston Hughes The Negro speaks of Rivers , the speaker sets a tone
while makes a connect between him and the earth he lived on.

Research Paper On Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela: Man with a Motivation A man of true influence was born on July 18, 1918 in
Mvezo, South Africa and was born into the royal Mandela name. His father was the sub chief to the
king of the Thembu, and the influential man s name was Nelson Mandela, which would be a name that
would resonate throughout the world. Life for Mandela was hard at times, but through the difficulties
came a striving motivation to make his life and the lives of others better. Due to Nelson Mandela s
imprisonments, politics, and apartheid involvement, a strong motivation and lasting legacy of leading
by example was brought forth. For twenty seven years, prison was home for Nelson Mandela. After
the white supremacist party won South Africa s election in 1948, a constitution was formed that was
known to be racist towards black. That brought uprising which Mandela was a part of, since he was a
black male with limited rights. Through early protesting, Mandela made sure his voice was heard, and
it was heard so much that the law officials started to inhibit his ... Show more content on

was released. On that release day, headlines were made and Mandela gave a heartfelt speech.
According Mandela s speech titled Nelson Mandela Speech Upon Release, he stated, On this day of

Causes And Consequences Of The Social Identity Theory
The Social Identity Theory was created by Dr. Henri Tajfel, British Social psychologist, and Dr. John
Turner, a graduate student of Dr. Tajfel, in 1979. Social identity is defined as an individual s sense of
self in relation to a group (McLeod, 2008). This psychological theory is based on the idea of
discrimination between different groups; Dr. Tajfel and Dr. John Turner wanted to understand why and
how this intergroup discrimination occurs. The life experiences of the theorists, components of the
theory, and possible consequences of the theory contribute to how relatable this theory is to college
students.
To understand the foundation that the Social Identity theory was built on, one must understand the life
experiences of those who created the theory. Dr. Henri Tajfel was born in Polish Jewish family on
June 22, 1919. During his late childhood and early adulthood, Jews were despised by the Germans and
approximately six million Jews were executed during the 1930s. During the Holocaust, his immediate
family and closest friends were murdered by the Nazis. His life was spared, because he went to school
at Sorbonne in Paris, France, where he became fluent in French. Dr. Tajfel pretended to be French
male in the French Army. However, according to Vaughan (2017), he did become a prison of war in
1940 because of his assumed French identity. He would have been most likely killed if his true
ethnicity was revealed. Nevertheless, these life experiences encouraged him to do

Spacious Square Footage
The interior of the gazebo is 120 square feet. It s 10 feet by 12 feet with a height of 10 feet. The 10
feet of clearance means that you can hang lights or a fan in your gazebo without anyone hitting their
head on the additions. There s a center hook for installing your favorite light or chandelier, too.
All of that square footage will give you extra living space in your home. You can use it for
entertaining, or just lounging outdoors with the kids. Instead of everyone in the house, this will get the
kids out of the house into a space that gives you peace and quiet.
Sturdy Frame
The frame is made of steel, too. There are decorative elements to each leg that actually make them
even sturdier than simple gazebo legs. There are 6 pieces of steel on each side of the double legs.

Chapter One
Theorising Identity and The Search for The Self among the sub continental Diaspora in Britain
Identity has always been a problematic area of interrogation epistemologically, existentially and
politically and it continues to propel our thought. Etymologically, the term is derived from Latin word
Idem meaning same (Oxford Online Dictionary) which means specific quality or condition of being a
specific person or an object . A person s identity is determined in terms of his/her inherited traditions,
particularly the inherited religion of the community in which they happen to be born, the place and

The concept of Identity has been defined and studied in different fields of studies ranging from
Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology and Cultural Studies.
Recent trends in Psychology on Identity Theory: In the recent past identity is seen as a self narrative
which is held as the base for the construct of a person s identity. The behaviour in salience to the
social setting is the base of identity formation. The Identity Theory (Stryker 1968, 1980, 1989; Stryker
and Serpe 1982, Mc Calls and Simmons 1978, R.H. Turner 1978) explains social behaviour in terms
of the reciprocal relationship between the self and the society . The term is used to define the links
between a multifaceted notion of the self and wider social structure. (Burke 1980; Mc Call and
Simmons 1978; R.H. Turner 1978). It is an extension of the symbolic interactionist theory postulated
by Mead (1934) and Blumer (1969) that society influences social behaviour through its affects on the
self (Micheal A Hogg, et al.). However, the Identity theory rejects the symbolic interactionist theory as
relatively undifferentiated, co operative whole (Stryker 1980, 1987; Stryker and Serpe 1982) and
argues that society is complexly differentiated, but nevertheless organized (Stryker and Serpe
1982:206) and thus predicated the idea of the

It is similarly structured to the Cabinet of the United States with different departments such as the

chosen, the prime minister then proposes the Cabinet, which the president must approve and ratify.
Additionally, there is the Federal National Council. This body of government is somewhat similar to
Congress where they represent a voice for the citizens and create laws which the Supreme Council
authorizes or rejects. Political disputes, not only in the host country, but also in neighboring countries

Cheers, to paradise. Santa Monica beach is where myriad of my best tween memories were made.

The beautiful scenery of Santa Monica beach is about 15 miles north of Los Angeles International

factors that inhibit Jim Reed from motivated Fred Maiorino are lack of leadership, lack of goals, and

Leadership
Jim Reed fails to motivate Fred because of the unsuccessful role as leader. A successful leader has the

  • 2. Texas Government Power The state of Texas has grudge against authority. In fact, there s general distrust against the government. Texas constantly limits the governor s power, which makes him one of the weakest governors compared to other states. The plural executive system of Texas takes away power from the Governor. However, this doesn t detain the governor from playing a vital legislative role. The plural executive branch in Texas limits the Power of the Governor by dividing the responsibilities he has into various elected officials. In fact, these elected officials do not have to answer to the Governor, nor do they work together as a cabinet in the way that executive officials serve the U.S. President. (Texas Politics). This creates a difficult environment to work; sometimes those officials do not form part of the same political party, which creates conflict. In addition, the governor does not form part of the decisions happening in the state, which sometimes create a miscommunication between Texans and the Government. Texans often blame the governor for things out of his control. (Collier et al 185). To wrap up, the Governor does not carry a lot of responsibilities, which makes him weaker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The governor can do this by the means of the state of the state address, which means that he can inform the legislature of the condition of the state at the beginning of each legislative session and at the end of his term. This can be often used to pass the Governor s own political ideas. The governor can even use the emergency legislation, which lets the proposed legislation to be moved and be voted during the first sixty days (171). Governors have no limitation on what is an emergency and it s decided by their own judgment. This gives the governor power in the legislative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Similarities and Differences Between Jefferson and Jesus... Similarities and Differences Between Jefferson and Jesus Based on the book A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines In the book A Lesson Before Dying, there are multiple hints, clues and symbolism between Jefferson and Jesus. The author, Ernest Gaines, draws a line between Jefferson and Jesus, but yet he creates his character to be similar to Jesus in multiple ways. Some ways that Jefferson and Jesus are alike is that they both die around Easter, but not by their choice. Both Jefferson and Jesus were unjustly convicted and were not killed out of their own will. The deaths of these two men were both symbolic in many ways and in some ways seem to be seen as a defeat to society and humanity. It happens second Friday after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Jefferson, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The defense argued that Jefferson was innocent of all charges except being at the wrong place at the wrong time. (Gaines, 7). For Jesus, Pontius Pilate asks the crowd he and Jesus were in front of, what they wanted to happen with him. Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him. (Luke 23:22). In a way Pilate seems to be defending Jesus like the defendant in Jefferson s trial, trying to see what the jury wants to happen, also trying to bail him out; Though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. (Isaiah 53:9) But this man has done nothing wrong (Luke 23:41). The fact that Mr. Gropé shot only Brother and Bear was proof of Jefferson s innocence. (Gaines, 7). Both Jesus and Jefferson were recognized as innocent by some and yet still received a death sentence. In the Old Testament, it was prophesized that Jesus would have done nothing wrong but still be convicted, as well as Jefferson was convicted for something he did not do. The death of these two men is symbolic in many ways. First, for Jefferson it was a defeat for him standing for the blacks showing that they are equal and showing that there is not a difference between blacks and whites and that they should not be treated as less because he is still yet a man; I want you to show them that you are as much ... Walt Whittman s Song Of Myself Song of Myself writing In the poem Song Of Myself by Walt Whittman, he emphasizes that we are all connected as individuals and everyone has their place in the universe, because we are all made of atoms. The poet claims that For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you (ll.3) Whittman is trying to describe how everyone in the universe is the same. Whittman saw slavery with his own eyes and believed it was wrong as no one had the right to own another. This reinforces his belief that we are all the same, no one can be above another, and we all have a right to this world. The first one being the Bloody Sunday in St Petersburg, 22 January 1905, an event where Russian protesters against the government corruption, had been separated due to brute force from the Russian troops. The next, was when Nicholas II, had tried to build a constitutional monarchy, then during 1917 in the Russian Revolution, they had overthrown this type of government, and then they had put revolutionaries or Bolsheviks in control of the country of Russia. After this, on November 2nd, 1906, there was another topic called Trotsky exiled to Siberia, wherein this topic, several members from the Soviet of St. Petersburg, had been arrest due to the current revolution. Whether Intelligence Can be Defined and Measured Accurately or Not In this essay I will look at whether intelligence can be defined and measured accurately through looking at various definitions of intelligence; including definitions from Binet, Wechsler, Terman, Hebbs, Cattel and Vernon. I will discuss a selection of more well known and popular intelligence tests ranging from Galton to Wechsler, what they measure and what they don t measure. I will look at an example of a famous person renowned for being intelligent and what there IQ test result would likely of been, if tested. Starting with a definition from the oxford dictionary we can then go on to see how varied the definitions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Terman (1921) describes intelligence as a person s ability of abstract thinking (1921, cited in Heim, 1970). It seems that psychologists find it hard to reach an agreement to define intelligence, resulting in the final definition I will mention from Vernon (1969) intelligence is what intelligence tests measure (1969, cited in Howe, 1997). Although most definitions seem to have a similarity, the meaning of intelligence can vary over time and through cultures. It was once thought that intelligence was all down to a persons ability with spelling and arithmetic, whereas in the islands of the south pacific a persons ability to navigate the oceans and there spatial memory are the way to judge a persons intelligence level (MSN, 2005). It seems a nomothetic approach is needed to even attempt to measure intelligence. All tests need to be reliable, correlate with existing test scores and show face, internal and ecological validity (MSN, 2005). Intelligence tests were developed to predict school children s eventual academic results (MSN, 2005). In England in the 1880 s Galton made the first attempt at measuring intelligence. Galton s theory was that a person with a good degree of intelligence would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

International Adoption Case Study Policy Recommendation Idaho Code, Policy § 16 1514A of International Adoption should make some minor adjustments due to the decrease in international adoption numbers over the years. This policy should be slightly altered in the timeline of the international adoption process. It should then be amended or be made available for other states to adopt into their Statutes or Constitution. Idaho s International Adoption Policy currently reads When an Idaho resident adopts a child in a foreign country in accordance with the laws of the foreign country, and such adoption is recognized as full and final by the United States government, such resident may file for adoption... This law is solely here to allow foreign children to be adopted into the United States by American citizens, with the following of the state of Idaho and the foreign country s laws. This policy is economically feasible because it requires no further funding from the State(s) or Countries in which such an International Adoption law is enacted. This law is primarily supported by the government officials, all adoption agencies and organizations, and parents wanting to adopt. This law was also unanimously voted for passing in the Senate by both Democrats and Republicans (House Bill No. 581, 2006). By explicitly stating the length of time the international adoption process will take, there can be no argument that the length of time is far too long. This law was successful when first passed, but because of the slowing systems adoption numbers are being cut in half (www.CNN.com, 2016). • 11. Central Limit Theorem Essay The Central Limit Theorem is a statistical theory which states that the shape of a sampling distribution is approximately normal no matter the shape of the population when graphed. This theory works as long as the sample size is larger than 30. To go more into depth to explain this theorem, we could take Grey s Anatomy fans across the United States track their episode watching habits. They could write down how many episodes they watched a week from the beginning of January to the end June. Below is a graph(taken from the internet, not real data) showing the weeks from January to June as the x axis and showing the number of episodes on the y axis of the data provided by these Grey s Anatomy fans. The graph is clearly not normal, yet it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let s say if I were to keep track of how long I walk my dog if I always take a longer path when I walk the dog during the morning compared to the late afternoon. Putting this data on a graph, it would look binomial like the graph I provided below. Yet just like the Grey s Anatomy example, if we take the means of multiple random samples from the data and plot it on a graph, it would become normal. Another example where the Central Limit Theorem takes place is if I were to record the pitches that my two dogs bark at. My first dog, Oreo, has a deep, hearty bark where as my second dog, Mya, has a high pitched bark. Considering this, if we graphed their barks, there would be a dip in between which would look similar to the graph right above this paragraph. Yet just like the others, if I was to take multiple random samples from the data and figured out the means of each, it would look much more normal and the dip would be gone. Whether it be using Grey s Anatomy watching habits, dog walking habits, or the pitch of a dog bark, the Central Limit Theorem can turn a binomial graph into a normal graph. This can be easily done by taking a random sample of over 30 from the data given, taking the means from each sample, and then plotting them on a graph will give us an approximately normal ... Richard would be facing both the alter and the Cardinal, one of the highest religious positions that there was in front of the holiest of places. One could see this as church and state facing one another head on. The Cardinal addresses the to be King Richard in a distinct voice if he shall keep the same ties, laws, and traditions that were kept by the kings before him, especially by Edward the Confessor. At the time, religion and state were known for their disagreements of power. So using this strong voice to almost demand for religion s steady position in the country means that the church was determined to stay in the country of England. The King agrees most likely due to him being in front of all the people, he cannot object even if he wanted to. Once the Cardinal is convinced of his promise he will give to him the special articles. This shows that the Church was determined to stay in England if they were deliberate on whether or not the promise was genuine. The Cardinal then swears in the King that his power belongs to the Church of God, the clergy and it s people. This is a demand of the King s power be given to the Church and the people of England, it is almost saying that while we may have a King he is to serve God and the people first. The King then swears to his power for God. The Cardinal also speaks of equal and rightful justice with mercy and truth. This means that the King must understand that he must be fair in his judgements to which he agrees to do. Then there is the point made about the laws of the worship of God to be strengthened and defended which means that the King should make a point of keeping church in England. At every point of these promises the King is left to remember that the church is giving him this power and for him to overall remember to respect the church for it s help in making him ... Knapp states that memorable messages have three different qualities that make a good memorable message. To start, (Knapp et al., 1981) states that First, memorable messages often come from someone who is older and of higher status, Most campaigns will use a spokesperson who is well known to the public; an example of this is a celebrity putting their name towards a cause. These spokespeople are often the campaign s biggest supporters both financially and motivational. (Miles A, et. al., 2001) describes that research into adult interventions shows that those who take part in mass media health campaigns are women from higher socioeconomic groups who are already engaging in better health practices. Second, memorable messages are often brief oral injunctions that prescribe rules of conduct for solving a personal problem, (Knapp et al., 1981). These would be more explicit directives, such as Exercise more and You should eat smaller portions, such as. • 14. Characteristics And Processes Of Gravel Bed Rivers Gravel bed rivers are comprised of sediment particle sizes between 2 64mm, but may also include a degree of sand as high as 50% (Bunte and Abt 2001). This wide array of particle sizes can affect the rates of erosion, deposition, and overall morphology of a river. Understanding the rate and likelihood of these processes is crucial in comprehending contemporary river environments, their behaviour and surrounding ecology. Detailed characteristics and processes of gravel bed rivers is not well understood as there are considerable variabilities at the bar, reach and river scales (Rice and Church 2009). In an attempt to advance understanding of the processes and mechanisms involved, analysis of the sediment is required. To quantify the size and distribution of sediment in a river, a large sample set is needed in order to be fully representative of the area surveyed, but this is more complex in gravel bedded rivers than sand as distribution can be either heterogeneous or homogenous (Bunte and Abt 2001). Considering this, sampling methods must be chosen appropriately and in accordance of objectives of the study in order to gain data specific and useful enough to address them. This report aims to address the characterisation of grain size distribution of both the bar scale and reach scale of the River Ashop, in the Peak District. To do this, two methods have been utilised: Wolman sampling (1954), and advanced digital granulometry (Graham et al. 2005). Patterns and distribution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first company is Hooli incorporated which has a male CEO, looking closely in the boardroom the only gender represented is male, however the only females present in the office are the female secretaries. The same uniformity is present in the competing firm, male CEO, male president, male board members, and female secretary. Silicon Valley deals with the issue of not injecting women into higher power position, unfortunately many of these stereotypes are found in many industries around the world. The portrayal of women as being incapable of being good leaders leads to a male dominated managerial system. By the early 1700s, the Western world had grown tired of the Machiavellian absolutism that dominated all political systems. With inherent corruption in French leadership, apathy towards citizens in Great Britain, and constant instability in Central Europe, absolutism left much to be desired. For the American colonies , the Enlightenment disrupted this predictable path of government through its development of republicanism, the guiding ideology which stressed liberty and inalienable rights of citizens. These are questions that Christians may have to wrestle with throughout their lives. There are many views it comes to scripture and science. You can see scripture as having science, but being limited to the time period. Others can say scripture is correct and that you need to believe it (have faith in it), even if modern science disproves it. The stereotypical worldview is that science explains it all and religion is outdated. A merging view would try to merge the two together and say science helps explain how God designed and created the world. Scripture can be reconciled with Science using the last view. For example, you could say the Big Bang is the reaction you would expect from God saying let there be light or that God made us adaptable (evolution) because He knew the world would be changing. When you view science through the lens of religion, you can come up with many theories on how the two are not mutually exclusion. The reverse has also happened. The world, humans, and the brain are very complex. When studying these structures, it can lead one to believe that they could not happen by accident, but rather by intelligent design. The limit to intelligent design is it does not point to who the designer is. Scriptures can help point to the designer. • 21. Analysis Of Ezinma In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe The bond of family is something to be cherished. It is no longer there simply for reasons of survival, families exist because it gives us humans identity in both a physical and figurative way. Our name is what we gain from our family. We also inherit the expectations of the family. But, over time we become our identity and that is the figurative. I could give you a list of names that you have heard of and that identity is connected to past events or the personality of the person, but to you now, the name is a personification of that personality or the way you felt in past events. This is the reality of names, and the way we perceive each other. Thusly, Ezinma form Chinua Achebe s, Things Fall Apart, represents more than just her name. She represents, resilience, strength, relief, and comradery. The mother of Ezinma, her name was Ekwefi, had been visited by monumental tragedy. Ekwefi could not bear a child, until Ezinma. Ekwefi bore a total of ten children with nine dying in stages of infancy. It is quite evident that Ekwefi had become a very bitter woman, the naming of her children were the biggest hint. Their names began receiving more sinister meanings. Ezinma was the first to survive into her childhood. She survived through spells of illness due to her being deemed as a ogbanje, which is a type of spirit that inhabits babies and dies to torture the mother. However, Ezinma seemed determined to live and was able to be cleared of her ogbanje title. Through this, her and her mother developed an interesting relationship. Ezinma and Ekwefi were more than mother and daughter, There was something in it like the companionship of equals... (76 Achebe). This is a special relationship that is very uncommon and creates a unique personality for Ezinma. Moreover, we see this in modern times as well, as Kwame Anthony Appiah describes in his novel, Cosmopolitanism, Sometimes, familiar values are intertwined with unfamiliar customs and arrangements. While in many scenes throughout the play characters are disguised, their identities concealed behind a physical shroud, the theme of appearances versus reality runs much deeper, making the lines between love and hate, foolishness and wisdom, and cruelty and innocence ambiguous to both the characters and the audience. As the play progresses, a veil of ignorance seems lift, elucidating the truth of each matter to the characters and to the audience. As the curtain rises, appearances immediately rush in to cloud the truth. In the very first scene of the play King Lear announces he will divide his Kingdom amongst his daughters, awarding portions of the land based upon their professions of love unto him. First to speak is the eldest, Goneril, and what she says seems to Lear an honest statement of adoration: Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter, Dearer than eyesight, space, and liberty, Beyond what can be valued, rich or rare, No less than life, with grace, health, beauty, honor; As much as child e er loved, or father found; A love that makes breath poor, and speech unable. Beyond all manner of so much I love you. (1:1 60 67) While by all appearances her words do portray an image of strong filial affection, her feelings, the audience later discovers, are masked by a veil of greed. Phillis Wheatley, On Being Brought from Africa to America describes the positivity of being an American slave and the perks of Christianity. • 26. Causes And Consequences Of The Social Identity Theory The Social Identity Theory was created by Dr. Henri Tajfel, British Social psychologist, and Dr. John Turner, a graduate student of Dr. Tajfel, in 1979. Social identity is defined as an individual s sense of self in relation to a group (McLeod, 2008). This psychological theory is based on the idea of discrimination between different groups; Dr. Tajfel and Dr. John Turner wanted to understand why and how this intergroup discrimination occurs. The life experiences of the theorists, components of the theory, and possible consequences of the theory contribute to how relatable this theory is to college students. To understand the foundation that the Social Identity theory was built on, one must understand the life experiences of those who created the theory. Dr. Henri Tajfel was born in Polish Jewish family on June 22, 1919. During his late childhood and early adulthood, Jews were despised by the Germans and approximately six million Jews were executed during the 1930s. During the Holocaust, his immediate family and closest friends were murdered by the Nazis. His life was spared, because he went to school at Sorbonne in Paris, France, where he became fluent in French. Dr. Tajfel pretended to be French male in the French Army. Turner 1978) explains social behaviour in terms of the reciprocal relationship between the self and the society . The term is used to define the links between a multifaceted notion of the self and wider social structure. (Burke 1980; Mc Call and Simmons 1978; R.H. Turner 1978).
